    I love 1st game , but this one is simply disgusting :/. Story all over the place, characters are not acting like in previous game ( dont recognize them). Visuals and music are great - thats only reason why i scored 3 ( otherwise 1 )

I was literally annoyed to have to play Abby for so long. Owen and Mel bored me to tears. The graphics were great but it doesn't save the game from a poor rating.
    I know the game is rated mature but some parents still buy it for their kids and have no idea what is in it. The language made me cringe and the agenda naughty Dog was pushing is over the top. I really wish I hadn't bought this game.    … Expand

    what an awful repetitive game. People complain about the story while forgetting the gameplay was EXTREMELY repetitive and boring. The only people who liked this gameplay are people who picked up last of us and started their console for the first time in 20 years.

    Completed the entire game start to finish. The graphics and gameplay were the highlight, the story genuinely ruined this game and series for me. The absolute worst kind of pseudo intellectual garbage writing i have ever sat through.     I have no problem with gameplay, graphics, gay love or anything for that matter. My issue is the story. While Ellie shows remorse, guilt and anxiety by the things she does for revenge her counterpart Abby shows not one shred of empathy, remorse, guilt or anxiety by the things she does to get revenge. She enjoys them. The game trying to convince the audience that we should feel bad about abby doesn't deliver. The parts with abby are annoying. Time consuming and the fact we as player can not kill abby is a mistake i won't forgive. Joel had the same reason to save Ellie as Abby has to save Lev. The player does not feel empathy for Abby and the game fails to try to convince its audience to feel anything but hate and annoyance towards the character that is abby.

    No Sane person would forgive or forget the murder of their own father or mother. Yet this game wants you to do exactly that. Joel is a surrogate father to ellie as ellie is a surrogate daughter to joel. Killing Joel off is not a problem in terms of story even the way portrayed. But the fact the game forces you to sympathize and forgive abby for what she has done is not going to work for intelligent people.
    For dumb people yes, they forgive and forget quite easy. As they can’t even remember the entire story if you ask them after they played it and miss a lot of flaws and plot holes because they do not care nor pay that much attention.

    But if you are an intelligent and sane person you instantly see the flaws and double standards in this story for the two main characters. And how Abby’s own action lead to her demise with the WLF and how her own actions drive everyone away from her. If Ellie and Tommy never showed up, she still would end up with Lev on that Island not knowing what to do other then going to the Aquarium and visit Owen.
    But if Ellie and Tommy never showed up Nora and Manuel would know where that Aquarium is and hunt them down together with the remains of the WLF! Yes that’s a given.
    Other games and movies show this struggle between Rvenge and forgiveness way better. To mind come the walking Dead by Telltale (first season) and the Rockstar Masterpieces called Red Dead Redemption and RDR2.
    As it stands now this game tries to be a story about how revenge is a bad thing that will cost you anything but its depiction only shows that Ellie is the one losing everything while abby walks free and gotten her revenge and now lives by the same rule saving an innocent child against the chaos of this post-apocalyptic world as joel did with ellie.
    So, in short Abby gets to kill joel by literally bashing his head in with a golf club and then goes on to do the exactly same stuff joel did in part 1. The hypocrisy of this story is beyond believe but while abby walks away ellie gets left behind with 2 fingers missing, her sanity destroyed, no longer having the ability to play guitar, lost her relation with dina and her baby. Lost jessie. Lost joel. Lost the friendship with Tommy.
    And for people claiming Abby loses a lot too. I say this. If we assume Ellie and Tommy do not show up.
    Abby would still lose Mel, Nora and Manuel’s support the moment she helped Yara and Lev escape which leads to the death of Yara and Isaac. As Manuel explained to Mel it is ok to shoot scar kids if it helps the WLF. Nora already helped Abby escape but tells her she would bail the moment she got caught again. And Mel wanted to leave with Owen but only if he leaves Abby behind. Since Owen didn’t want to do that Mel leaves Owen when Ellie shows up. Owen would therefore the only one coming to the island to save Abby.

    Or in short. Only Owen would still support Abby. Mel hates Abby from the deepest part of her heart and Nora and Manuel would stay with the WLF hunting Abby for the murder of Isaac and protecting a Scar Child.
    That’s the way to go and spit in Joels and Abbys face while you put Abby and Lev on a pedestal. The hypocrisy in this game is stunningly high.

    Naughty Dog has died as a company for me since 1998 me supporting them. And I won’t be the only one thinking that way after this game.    … Expand

    This game is total crap. Poor story, which is not interesting at all. Ending is horrible as well. Too much politics for game that should, first of all, entertain. I hope people will make proper decision with their money, not buying this game.

    What to say that hasn't already been said. I stayed away from pre release leaks and avoided spoilers hoping in the context of a full release all my fears would be washed away with Naughty Dog magic. I was so terribly wrong. I literally wanted this game to finish so badly. Don't buy this game.

I couldnt comprehend the loss of a such a memorable character and the relationship between him and Ellie. I stopped playing about midway in Ellies playtrough.

    I gave this game a try after watching some of Videogamedunkeys youtube videos about this game. I was no longer emotional attached to the loss of Joel and was able to truly appreciate this game for what it is. One of the best games ive ever played.

    If you like me, couldnt finish this game the first time because it was simply too much, too emotional jarring. Give it another try.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a game developer I'm impressed with the environment graphics, character graphics, and character animation. I'd call it a masterpiece and give it a 10/10 on that side. Unfortunately, the game story lets the game down. This game is a testament to Woke. I had to skip several cut-scenes since I personally don't want their agenda thrust onto me, and by the end of the game I really didn't care that much and just wanted the thing to end. I was not in favour of some of the more violent scenes so I skipped them too. I think the company would have done a great job if they had stayed away from the woke agenda which would mean the critics would slated the game as they have all bought into woke. Gamers would most likely rate it highly then. Aside from the woke agenda, the way the story was presented wasn't that bad, as I enjoyed playing as different characters, but wished they had offered the player choices that would have shaped the story, instead of forcing them down a linear path of revenge. It was cool though to play the story from opposing main characters and see how they both ended up in the same place. The revenge plot did spoil the story though, and was another reason why I just didn't care when I got towards the end of the game.
    So summary is: great graphics, and animation, poor story and choc full of woke agenda, and sadly the story is such a let down, I can't give the game more than 3/10.    … Expand

We loved the last of us so much because of Joel And the amazing relationship he had with Ellie. And they took that away from us. A badass caring father figure like Joel taken away so fast. There were some mediocre things gameplay wise but overall as a sotry driven game it was one of the best at the time and i think its still holds up very well. Why did I mention all of this? Well i think for a triple A titlle, for such a household name as naughty dog this game is a disgrace and here is why. Keep in mind this game was in development for 7 years. Lets start with gameplay. Obviously its better than the first tlou but we have to expect this with such a long time of development but still the game is too repetetive in the end you are doing basiclly the same thing over and over. There's no variety. Weapons are pretty much the same as in the first game. Game mechanics were expanded a bit but it just feels like the reeskin of the first game. Obviusly the graphics are great there sonthing bad i can say about that. Lastly the story. This story is just inexplicable. This story is just based around the fact that Abby was super lucky and dumb at the same time and somehow found Joel and then him and Tommy just had a stroke or something and forgot what world they live in and went to a camp of total strangers and acted irrationaly. There is NO single explenation for this other than that it's a bad story writing. Story is not in order which on its own it wouldnt be so bad but they did such a bad job with it is just unbelivable however approved it is a profesionall. This is a problem because they want to paint Abby as Elliev2 nut it just doesnt work because they firstlly killed of Joel in stupid way and then when we were in the END decided to let you play her?!!?? XDDD. Lastly there is a lot of manipulation i cant pass indifferently. Abby plays with dogs/Ellie kills them, Abby rescues children/Ellie kills pregnant woman. In conclusion as for triple a title for Naughty Dog and for a second instalment to this story this game is trash simply because it was made lazy.… Expand

You will see all the online critics excuse the low user score as reviews bombing by haters and that people who reviewed this have very few hours into the gameplay so their opinion does not matter. No, I don't need to sit through the entire 3 hrs of Batman v Superman to feel that the movie is boring and pointless. The plot of this game makes characters act completely out of character like Joel who were always overly cautious and suspicious of others suddenly declare his infamous name in front of a bunch of militia; or Ellie who has zero internal struggle in morality when it comes to killing off dozens of people who merely associated to Abby who murdered Joel, but when it comes to the actual perpetrator of the crime, Abby, somehow Ellie feels conflicted, despite Abby even bit off two fingers of hers and render her no longer able to play guitar. Well-written and complex characters that we have grown to love from the first game is killed off for cheap shock value. I never disagree that Joel should die. But his death should complete his arc and requires more buildup. Anyone can spend 5mins and think of a better story buildup than this unprofessional writing.

    Besides, while you can claim the review score is biased from the review bombing from haters, you can very well say the same for the online critics who are used as a marketing tool for the industry. Therefore for me it sounds like a convenient excuse for the overwhelming negative reviews. By passing off negative comments as "haters" and "bigots" for reasons against LGBT, you never have to address how bad this game truly is.

    Gameplay wise, it's solid and well done. But from a story telling perspective it's just a shame to hold the LOU title. It just took everything great about the original and thew it into the trash. Also enough is enough with LGBT **** being shoved up our throats in every new game.

Obviously is not fun to play, actually most miserable game I've experienced ever. First off, I don't care about lgbtq, it doesn't matter to me, I absolutely don't care. What matters to me is how out of characters are in this game. How disrespectful it is to kill off Joel in the way they did. He deserved much better than this. Again, not disappointed of because he dies, it's how he died. Joel died without purpose, like a piece of garbage, like he meant nothing, by a new character who he saved multiple times before getting tortured by her. Abby, who brutally tortured and killed most beloved character in franchise, showing no remorse of taking her revenge was put in game to force players to sympathize with. FOR WHAT PURPOSE?? for what reason why we needed all of this, to care for her? It's disgusting having to play as Abby to cause even more pain for Ellie. So at this point, the game focuses on revenge. So how does Abby, who got her revenge get everything she wanted in the end, she suffers nothing from damage she caused to Ellie, she learned NOTHING. While a person who let go of revenge loses EVERYTHING.. and continue to suffer.. what is the message in that??? This story is a pile of dog ****… Expand

This game has a lot of good ( graphic arts, setting, characters, morality about violence, and much more) but SPOILERS - Abby, are you seriously?! This characters very stupid. Yes Joel killed her father, but a lot of time has passed, and Joel saved her life. Why didn’t she think for a second that maybe this is not such a bad person?! Maybe you should at least ask: Joel, b*tch! Why did you kill my father? Ok she killed him. And you seriously think that after that someone will want to play this character 40% of the whole game?! In the second act, I already had to force myself to play! And I think people like me a lot! And even after all this, I gave the game a chance because I love these characters (Ally). When the farm appeared, I already hoped that there would be such an ambiguous ending where Eli had to let Joel’s killer go for the benefit of those close to her, since violence only gives rise to more violence. But no ! And this was not enough for you, you ruined everything. As a result, Ellie still lets go of the enemy but loses two fingers, Dean and baby JJ. Where did she go? In Jackson, is Dina there, or where is she? I have many questions and no answers! Naughty dog, please, I beg you, listen to the players and draw the right conclusions! Make some kind of appeal to us players, at least with answers to the questions that, as a result of Ellie, she remains alone or will go look for Dina.

On the other hand the game is gorgeous, it really looks like nature has reclaimed the land and there was obviously a lot of effort put into the graphics. On top of this Gustav Sandola’s guitar really adds to the dark atmosphere and complements the cutscenes. Though, overall the game is extremely underwhelming,Weak story and uninteresting gameplay left me with a bizarre taste in my mouth. On the other hand the game is gorgeous, it really looks like nature has reclaimed the land and there was obviously a lot of effort put into the graphics. On top of this Gustav Sandola’s guitar really adds to the dark atmosphere and complements the cutscenes. El juego es aburrido con demasiadas horas para explorar solo para reunir suficientes recursos. La historia es horrible, sin valor redentor, especialmente en comparación con la primera.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The original Last of Us has been one of my favorite games ever since it came out. I've played through it on every difficulty and multiple new game pluses. The same can not be said of Last of Us part 2. Gameplay wise there aren't many bugs and the game seems stable enough (only 1 crash just after the halfway point) but it fails to bring anything new to the table. The jumping mechanics and "improved stealth" barely work and the AI is just as bad as the original Last of Us on ps3. On the subject of the plot. It's nothing new. Tales of revenge gone bad have been around for as long as mankind has told stories. Violence breeds violence and dig two graves. We all know how that goes. Last of us 2 however has the brilliant idea that if they make us play as both sides of this fight we're going to get attached to both and want to see as many of them survive as posible. This might have worked but unfortunately the group Ellie is hunting down gets only a few minutes of screentime each and it all seems a bit forced. There's also the minor insignificant fact that we WATCHED THEM BLOW JOEL'S LEG OFF THEN BEAT HIS HEAD IN WITH A GOLF CLUB. If they hadn't made us watch that and instead held that back until the final confrontation and kept us guessing as to why Ellie is hunting them down that might have gone over better. As it is the entire second half just feels like an insult to the first game and the people who enjoyed it. Things come to a head and Abby lets a severely wounded Ellie and her companions leave with a warning to never let het see them again. A year later Tommy finds out where Abby is hiding and sends Ellie on one last ride.

    The final chapter in Santa Barbara was one big let down. I was half hopeing for it to be that big rage fueled massacre just like the hospital in the first game, a chance to use all those upgraded weapons youve spent the entire game working on without having to worry about ammo or of it's better to stealth past and leave this group alive but it wasn't. Instead you sneak through a compound of raiders that call themselves "rattlers". There are a few interesting bits where you can use chained up infected to kill some of the rattlers and spice up the fight with a rouge 3rd element but it ends up working against you more often than not. Finally it all comes down to a single fight, a weakened Ellie suffering from internal injuries and having lost far more blood than is healthy against a starved, dehydrated nearly dead Abby. In the end both sides just walk away Abby cut up and bleeding and Ellie having lost 2 fingers. Finally Ellie returns to find the new life she had build has been destroyed in her absence.

    I want to like this game, I really do. But as it stands now with broken AI and a poor story that we've all heard before I just can't bring myself to rate it anywhere above a 4.5/10 and even with that I feel like I'm being too kind.    … Expand

To make the game ‘perfection for the fans’..... and THIS is what’s handed to us (not for a small price either). 6+ years I have been waiting for this - and the hype train has been tootling for the last 2/3 years.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying that TLOU1 is my favourite game ever, rivaled only by Metal Gear Solid. But it's sequel, simply put, is an extremely unpleasant game in most aspects. From the story to the needless violence in most interactions. Here's why:

    First, they kill off Joel in the first hours of the game, one of the most beloved and iconic PS4 characters of all time. We don't even get any positive interactions between him and Ellie before this happens, as they are barely speaking, from what we hear. Then, the whole point of the rest of the game is this incessant search for revenge, which endangers every other interesting character in the game. Revenge itself it's a silly and overused motivation, in every realm, but here it feels specially empty. Even after discovering that Dina is pregnant, Ellie still won't leave Seattle and choses to risk it all due to some bloodlust that has nothing to do with her character from the first game. This was entirely off-putting. (Also, Joel would CERTAINLY be using codenames since everyone in that hospital from the first game called him by his real name. There is NO WAY that Joel would be this careless. It's just really hard to buy.)

    Despite not agreeing with Ellie, the game is ok until halfway through, which is when it really took a very sharp downturn to me and most people: you take control of Abby, Joel's killer, for pretty much the rest of the game. This shell of a character, who you are supposed to 'bond' with and care for her motivations and backstory, but in reality you hate and wish she'd just drop dead to the first Clicker she sees. You are FORCED to control her through FIFTEEN HOURS just as she has Ellie at gunpoint and kills Jesse with a headshot. FIFTEEN HOURS. Hence, a very unpleasant 15 hours since you're curious and NOT AT ALL interested in Abby and her dealings.

    This is when i started to rush things. Stopped exploring every single building, stopped being stealthy in combat, stopped reading notes - just stopped enjoying the game altogether. I did not care for any of it, i just wanted to play out the scene between Ellie and her. Nothing else. Therefore, it was impossible for me to care about Yara and her brother/sister. It felt like an attempt to prolongue the story with these bleak, non-interesting characters, of whom we've had plenty of in other games. It all felt very vague, especially the Abby-Owen endless interactions in the Aquarium.

    The ending: after being forcefully dragged through the entire campaing, having to do things you don't agree with and seeing, going on missions that don't make ANY sense (like the Ground Zero part to save Yara, another character you don't care for) and seeing A LOT of violence along the way, you finally get some peace at the farm. This is by far the best area of the game as far as character interactions go, as Ellie and Dina's relationship seems very real and you can almost believe that those are real people who, despite being scarred phisically and mentally, are attempting to have a normal, happy life. Which is why it makes you drop your controller and just say 'Get the **** outta here' when you realise Ellie is going to do the EXACT SAME THING all over again: chase the girl who killed Joel and who spared you TWO TIMES.

    At this point, i found myself simply not caring: not caring about Ellie after so many dumb decisions, not caring about Abby since she killed a fan favourite (and is just an extremely weak character all around) and not caring about revenge after everything that went down at Seattle. I was just completely uninterested in the closure, and definitely uninterested in the violence that would inevitably come with it. As it did.

    In that last hour of the game, Ellie loses everything. From the knife that her mom gave her (and was the only memento she had of her), to a couple of fingers (and the ability to play guitar like Joel taught her) and her family, since Dina left the farm with JJ. But i was weirdly unaffected by this, as the game had lost me entirely on this second vengeance run. None of it made any sense and it all felt way too forced. Hell, in that last fight i did not even care who won, as i came to despise both characters. THAT is how unpleasant this entire game was, despite looking amazing.

    Overall, Naughty Dog traded two deep, beloved characters for two shallow and uninteresting ones, in Abby and Lev. Both Joel and Ellie's characters came to an end, in different manners, but they did. Joel is dead and Ellie is no longer a character we love - quite the opposite. She's made so many dumb choices along the way that it became impossible to relate with her.

    And so it is. She wanders off into the woods, with the Fireflies symbol, implying she's gonna try to find them again and develop a vaccine, so her life has meaning again.

    Thee game looks amazing, has terrific gameplay and sound effects, but it goes out of it's way to make you feel TERRIBLE and, in the end, leaves you with nothing.    … Expand

    Сразу оговорюсь что механика игры мне субъективно понравилась, но только по тому что она ТАКАЯ ЖЕ как и в первой части, игра за Элли осталась из первой части, Эбби по сути это Джоел, ничего нового там нет.
    Так вот:
    1.Старт игры и тут же убивают одного из центральных персонажей, и с этого момента ты уже не веришь в происходящее. Чувство такое что тебя кинули: Эбби находит в огромном регионе именно Джоела, Элли направляется именно в сторону Джоела, куча моментов нечем не подкреплённых и абсолютно абсурдных. И в дальнейшем таких моментов будет море,чего стоила только оставленная карта в аквопарке.
    2. Игра за Эбби - ужасный рудимент который абсолютно не нужен, он скучен и ненужен. Это в пустую потраченные часов 10. Замысел разработчиков понятен, но он просто слит- я не хочу играть за антагониста, даже если нам пытаются впарить что у него был мотив.
    3. Финал - это просто УЖАС. Когда я дошёл до финала, и меня абсолютно не было жалости к Эбби - она и как персонаж вышла с гнильцой, в чём меня убедила сама игра и как же я был удивлён когда Элли её отпустила! И я опять же понимаю посыл разработчиков, но в данном случае он опять не работает.
    Я извиняюсь за возможную путаницу и разбитый ответ, игра оставляет после себя чувство разбитости, как будто меня обманули.
    В принципе если воспринимать игру не как полноценное продолжение, а фанфик фаната и убрать часть за Эбби, оценка бы была примерно 7/10.
    В сюжете есть и хорошие моменты - это воспоминания, КАК НЕ УДИВИТЕЛЬНО, с Джоелом. И как не странно но за отношениями Дины и Элли интересно наблюдать, люди которые оправдывают игру что оценку занижают шовинисты- это не так.
    В общем надеюсь что про эту игру просто забудут, но всем и так понятно разработчики рубят деньги и не остановят поток бреда.    … Expand

    I can't believe this game was released properly. I had a very unpleasant experience. I couldn't play without patience. This game is kind of ascetic. So disappointing.

    El juego me decepciono mucho admito que la grafica es perfecta y todos lo que agregaron al juego provocan jugarlo, pero a mi lo que me no me gusto fue la historia.
    Osea todo lo que hisimos por nada , matamos a todos pero ala resonsable de la muerte de joel la dejamos con vida parece que para ese punto a elli se le acabo la ira

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
