    God, what a terrible disssapomtment. Why would you force players to play as the person who kills off a beloved character FOR LIKE 10 HOURS. Literally killed all desire to finish the game so instead I just watched a play through. After seeing the terrible ending im glad i didnt waste more of my life on this trash. What a joke.

This game is called Part 2 for a reason, a reason so obvious that we all blindly believe that the game will continue where the story left off in the first game. I’ve had a lot of imaginations of how the Part 2 may turn out to be, but boy, I’m not good at writing essays, I only get like flat pass for my english subject, but I can NEVER write something as bad as TLOU2. Remove the part 2 from the title, replace it with TLOU: The Journey of Abby or something that fits. The false advertisement with this game is so stupid that it’s not even funny at this point. First the trailer baiting us to believe that we at least get to play as Joel or have a short sequence to roam the world with him, which is exactly why I didn’t cancel my preorder, but ND lied and spits on my face.
    Then we have the misleading title. What’s next ND? Uncharted 4 Part 2 where we hunt down Nathan and smash him with a baseball bat? ND and The Last of Us part 2 can go straight to hell and rot there together. My brain refuse to believe that this is the sequel to a near masterpiece I’ve played years ago. At this point, I just hope Sony can listen to us the consumer/gamers opinion, just fire ND, I don’t care if it’s Naughty Dog or Neil Druckman that you’re going to take action against, take away their privileges for making video games in the future. I’d rather spend my $60 to buy 10 random game cd keys for $5 on eBay, still able to find a broken ass game with better story than this game that took 7 years to develope.

    This game is a bigger disappointment than I am to my family. 1/10 for the hardwork of the team.    … Expand

    Un título que prometía una historia digna, o así fue lo que se planteo en TLOU 1 una historia increíble.
    Uno de los temas que hay que tomar bastante en claro y que merece un 10 son los gráficos, los gráficos están pulidos a detalles muy buenos, buenos ambientes y banda sonora. El juego ocupa un excesivo uso de aprobación po la comunidad LGBT+ el juego es    El juego ah dejado más que desear.

    No sé profundiza en su precuela , claro es más humano y apoya a las emociones eso hay que tomarlo en cuenta ya que en la mayoría de decisiones hace parecer más humano todo con más sentimientos.

    I'm saddened that I'm so disappointed in this game. This has one of the worst stories in a video game and one of the worst endings. The visuals and soundtrack are the only good thing about this game.

The graphics are amazing tho and it is one of the most technically impressive games ive ever seen and the performances by the different voice actors are top tier. Which is sad because they story is just terrible. Watching Joel die and then being forced to play as his killer for half the game ruined the experience for me and I cared very little about any of the characters that Abby interacted with during my time playing as her.… Expand

    This game could have been a much more enjoyable experience if they had changed the pacing of it all. everything was out of order and you never got time to develop any sympathy or feelings for any newly introduced characters. Other then that, just a very decent game. I'd wait for it to go on sale if you're going to purchase it.

He wouldn’t just trust some random people. Also if the theme is revenge is bad, then how come it all works out for Abby, but Ellie who elects not to enact revenge loses everything. You’re forced to play as a character you dislike. They try to force you to like her, but it fails. And there is no payoff. A giant tease to avenge Joel, or get some closure and Ellie can’t even play the guitar anymore. It is a horrible story… Expand

    Honestly, one of the most disappointing games of this year. I was genuinely hyped for this game and all I got was a below average story with shiny new graphics and the same exact gameplay with some minor changes. Overall a easy pass would not recommend.

The writing for established characters in the previous game is inconsistent with their actions in this game, like in the beginning hours where caution well seasoned survivors Tommy and Joel walk themselves into a trap all the while Joel, who has explicitly shown in the previous game to be able to tell the signs of an ambush, assumes nothing of the encounter.     Plot is awful. It doesn’t seem to be a sequel to the masterpiece that was the first game. The first game was an epic story and expanded to the “left behind” DLC. It left us wanting more. After 6/7 years, I’m utterly dissatisfied and wish that they didn’t attempt to make a sequel

The gameplay is the same as the first, except the cut down on the environment puzzles that broke up the action of the first game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went into this game with so much hope, the last of us was and is still one of my favourite story driven games made. I'd stopped myself from seeing any spoilers before the game was released so I got it ready for another amazing experience like the first game but I was very disappointed, even after the disgusting way they killed Joel off in the very beginning I still had hope but as the game progressed it just showed how disconnected Naughty Dog are with the majority of their fans. This game is so full of senseless violence and hate and just leaves most players feeling empty and sad when they complete the game and don't even get me started on the whole section where you're forced to play as Abby someone who most of us hate as character and continue to hate throughout the second half of the game. Most of the new characters don't have much depth to them and are mostly used as plot devices and the old characters we know and love are changed too drastically, even when Joel is alive Ellie has lost that spark and charisma we all loved even though she's gotten to spend her life safer than most, tommy the man once worthy of his following turns into a murdering psycopath on this path of revenge and honestly so does ellie, its sad to see these characters fall so far.
    Though this game has it's high points like the amazing graphics and the absolutely beautiful lighting through the trees and the gameplay which is pretty decent I would not recommend buying this game as there isn't many people who play this game for the gameplay, most of us are here for the story and this game does not do a good job in that department, I really wish I hadn't played it and never knew what happened past the end of the first game.    … Expand

The plot just didn’t line up, especially since Joel would never give his name up so easily and be so trusting. The should have just taken this game back to the drawing board. As a fan, I’m honestly really hurt that the franchise that affected my life so much is now one the biggest disappointments I’ll ever have to know. Ellie and Joel didn’t feel like video game characters to me in the first game, they felt like real people. But in tlou2, it just seemed like they were lacking in that connection with the player. The trailers lied and a lot of what was promised is also lied (i.e. the new enemies, dogs were said you can progress without killing them). Story wise is just quite lore breaking in some aspects, quite unbelievable at a lot times (I.e. the library basement at the very beginning) and extremely unsatisfying at the end.… Expand

    Graphics, sound, and combat are the only decent things I can acknowledge about this game. As others have stated, the story this game delivers is atrocious when compared to the first game. This will be the last time a partake in this series and that saddens me but I will always have the first game to remember.

Told her their real names and agreed to shelter with abby’s group (armed strangers and invited then to restock on ammo and supplies at their settlement without knowing who the **** they were). This game doesn’t share any of the emotion the first game had.

    I’m not sure if they did it out of spite? Creatively drained? Trying to make a political statement? Maybe something went wrong in development? I’m not sure. But sadly, I hope that they don’t touch this franchise again and leave it alone.    … Expand

    I do not believe this a a terrible game if it had been a stand alone title, but the fact that it is branded as The Last Of Us: Part II is what makes it so horrible. The writing seemed rushed and the characters had little to no development. It seemed more so as if Naughty Dog was trying to set itself up for a part III which made the whole game completely disingenuous. I will speak only forI do not believe this a a terrible game if it had been a stand alone title, but the fact that it is branded as The Last Of Us: Part II is what makes it so horrible. The writing seemed rushed and the characters had little to no development. It seemed more so as if Naughty Dog was trying to set itself up for a part III which made the whole game completely disingenuous. I will speak only for myself as I did not want to play as Abby and nor would I want to in the future as well. The Last Of Us should have remained as a one part game, but of course Naughty Dog became money hungry and decided to tell a story that did not need to be told.… Expand

    While the message the game was trying to put out was great, I don't think this was the series to do it to. For a game that was anticipated for 7 years, it's really difficult to make fans of the original game feel sympathetic for someone who killed off a beloved character, not to mention that Joel was very anticipated for this sequel.
    The Last of Us Part II would have done better if it continued with the story they built up years ago. It's not a matter of a woman taking the lead role or the lesbian representation; the story does not hold up because of the huge change in direction. The writers wanted to show that not everything is black and white, but this should've been done with a new series instead of a series with diehard fans for the original cast.
    Despite that, the game is beautiful and fun but can be slow quite a bit which can be different from other apocalyptic games. The artistic direction they took with this game is amazing just like many NaughtyDog games. If only NaughtyDog could've continued with what worked in this series and experimented with their new story with a different one. The best moments of the game were the flashbacks with Joel, and I wished NaughtyDog had focused on that in the beginning.    … Expand

If you haven’t seen the leaks just go in to the game completely detached from elie and joe keep an open mind and played it as a game not so much for the story like the first one. The last of us 1 is very special to me it was my first game after 10 years out of the scene of gaming due to girls fast cars motorcycles ect. I came back as a grown adult and gaming was completely different from my old days and fell in love with tlou1 after 7 years of waiting for a sequel I am extremely disappointed with the story and mainly the story game play is a little better the the first and the graphics omg naughty dog is just on a league of its own joe dying was expected bit the way it was done mmm why and the part that kills the game for me is you have to play as abby, really?     Great plot, optimization (it take 3 seconds to load after death), graphic, attention to details. Amazing locations which are breathtaking. The plot is more ambitious than in part 1. You are no longer saving the world from "the bad guys" but it shows that the world is more complicated and for other people, you can be that "bad guy" even if you think that what you are doing is right.    … Expand

    I just finish the game, It was an amazing experience. I love that you can play the both side of their story. Hoping for a third part for some good closure of Ellie's story, I'm now on my second run of the game, trying to hit the platinum trophy.
    9/10 for Ellie's part
    8/10 for Abby's part

The technical side of the game is one of the best I have seen in a video game from the graphics, gameplay all of that stuff is perfect. The story however is the most key factor in this series and this instalment is just poor I have completed the game twice to make sure my opinion remained the same and it was. The first major thing I had a problem with was of course Joel dying the way he did he didn’t go out like a hero or not in a memorable way it was brutal and disrespectful to his character and the first game. The second thing I had a problem with was Abby to be honest if the players played as her for the first half of the game and given the player a more clear understanding of the motivation for wanting to kill Joel and we would have cared about her more if we sure the pain she was going through before she killed him. The last thing I had a problem with was the ending it seemed that naughty dog didn’t want to kill Abby because they want to make a part 3 with Lev and Abby but to me the whole game built it up to the moment your going to finally get your revenge but Ellie lets Abby go to stop the cycle. The ending should of been where Ellie was at the farm with Dina and Jj and been happy for once I found myself just wanting it to end because of the disrespect shown to almost every character from the first game. I think Naughty dog should make a part 3 to give a concrete and happy ending to Ellie’s story in the last of us series and for god sake don’t include Abby no one will buy it. Ultimately Naughty dog failed in giving at least a decent story about revenge.… Expand

It was unnecessary to kill Joel honestly but the main issue is the ending I just don’t get why Ellie wouldn’t get revenge on Abby playing this game fella like a waste of time and I hate everything about the story however the gameplay is very fun and the graphics are phenomenal and I’m not just being salty I mean red dead 2 killed off Arthur Morgan and it’s still regarded as one of the best games ever made at least rockstar has respect for their characters and understand that playing as these characters mean so much to us and seeing them die is sad yes but they still have him a nice death to end the game however naughty dog has no respect for Joel and clearly don’t respect their fans that make them money and give them food to eat and a roof over their head and treat us like **** I absolutely hate this and Neil is an idiot and should never make a game again if he can’t even give us a good game and also he knew this game was bad because metacritic won’t even let you leave a bad review and you can’t trade in the game in stores cuz they know that this game is absolute garbage 3/10… Expand

Myself and many others feel completely lied to. The trailers built the game up to be something it was not. Ellie’s “quest for revenge,” for Joel takes a backseat to dumb drama with other characters I could care less about. Where the first game was one of the most well written stories in triple A gaming, the second one seems to be written by toddlers trying to push agendas. My only question for naughty dog would be “Who is this game for,” because it’s obviously not for fans of the original. I don’t know if I should even sell the game. It would just feel wrong putting this game in the hands of someone else, knowing what awaits them in this 25-40 hour train wreck.… Expand

The game runs smooth on normal PS4, so I have to congratulate all the people at Naughty Dog that worked on this side of the game, you are masters at what you do, keep at the good work! It's a true shame all your efforts were wasted on this game.
    There is no multiplayer, so it's a big detriment for the fans of multi form the first game (like me...). Developers said the reason for this is that they focused on the story and boy doesn't that look like a bad choice now.
    The core gameplay loop is about fighting enemies in a stealth/shooting sections and exploring the world to find more resources. It's basically the same as in the first game and I think that would be ok, if the AI wasn't so bad. I played in on normal difficulty and it's a joke. Once you realize there is plenty of ammo and resources laying around, the best strategy in the game is to just sit behind cover and wait for the enemies to line up for headshots. This make combat pointless and repetitive. The game is also way too long for this type of gameplay to stay interesting, so I was completely bored of it after around 10 hours, and this has never happened to me in the first game.
    The difference is that in the first game, the story is very interesting and there is no pointless filler. Not so in this one – the story of The Last of Us 2 is one of the biggest mistakes I have ever seen. Old characters are being disposed of to make room for new ones, which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but the execution is horrible. None of the new characters are interesting, they feel paper-thin and disposable. I didn’t care for any of them in the first half of the game, and then the game pulls a twist and makes you play a different, new character which is not only unlikable, is downright despicable. I understand what the writers tried to do here – show you the other side of the story, and how we are all human – but they fail miserably. Any investment in the story player might have had is gone at this point and playing any further is just torture, as without any sympathy for the characters the game gets INCREDIBLY BORING. The second part also feels like a long, meaningless fetch quest, it’s long and meaningless, clearly filler. You will try to skip as much of it as possible just to get to the end, only to see one of the worst endings in gaming history. There are no redeeming factors here.
    You can really sum up the story like this – first it shocks you for no reason other then shock itself, nothing happens for around 10 hours while you have to deal with empty, unlikeable characters, just to get to the second part when characters switch and nothing matters anymore. And, cherry on top, meaningless, pointless ending. It really makes you wonder what the massage was supposed to be, as right now it’s “if you want revenge, make sure you go all out and be merciless, as that’s the way to end up on the good side – if you hesitate and show mercy, you will lose everything”. Is this really what the writers intended? If they wanted to show On the Metacritic scale of 0-10, story gets a 0.
    One thing I would commend the writers on is the representation of minority groups in the game – it’s very welcome, especially in these times. At the same time, I can’t help feeling that the first game did it much better, as it wasn’t so on the nose there. Still – I’m happy to see it
    Without a good story, there is nothing to glue together other elements and it’s shocking how empty it all feels. And, as I stated above, this makes the whole game very, very boring and a chore to play. I can’t give Last of Us 2 more then 4/10 in the current state. Inclusion of a good multiplayer mode could bump it to 5/10, or even 6/10 if it was superb. Last of Us 2 will be a big scar on Naughty Dogs reputation in the years to come, a big let down from a studio that Could Do No Wrong, and then went ahead to do Very Wrong. Do not buy this game, it’s a waste.    … Expand

    The story is one of the worst things I've seen basically being a revenge story where the maincharacter doesnt even take her revenge even after killing numerous people, the AI feels like it came out of the first starcraft as a dragoon and put into a shooter game, and the workbench animation feels incredibly unnatural. These are just a few of the issues.

    There are so many things wrong with this, the only decent things are the combat system and crafting system.

    This should not be considered canon, this should not have even been made. Whoever made this obviously had a bad boss directing them to make this excuse of a story, also feels extremely rushed in many aspects of the game, no way this was decided on by the actual people who made the game on their own accord.
