    terrible game. just LOU 1 but with a poop story. there is no environmental puzzles, the gameplay is changed almost not at all, and the fact that we waited so long for this game is heartbreaking

До тех пор пока тебя не заставляют играть за антагониста, чья судьба тебе абсолютно неинтересна. Ты просто не можешь прочувствовать персонажа так же, как Элли. Игра казалась мне достаточно хорошей, совершенно иной, но все же хорошей. До тех пор пока тебя не заставляют играть за антагониста, чья судьба тебе абсолютно неинтересна. Ты просто не можешь прочувствовать персонажа так же, как Элли. Я закрывал глаза на это, считая что: «Нууу.... зато это расширяет историю, показывает через другую призму». Но после того, как меня собственными руками заставили сражаться против персонажа, чья судьба для меня стала чём-то настолько важным и ценным, с помощью персонажа, к которому у меня полное отвращение и неприязнь, чьи чувства мне не близки так как для меня это по-прежнему кто-то чужой.... я просто перехотел играть в игру. Мне просто не нравится эта игра. Я мог бы ее ненавидеть или обожать, но она заставила меня быть к ней равнодушной, будто бы я купил игру в стиме за пару сотен. «Мне не нравится эта игра» - прочувствуйте то чувство безнадежности, звучащее из уст фаната. Эта игра стала для меня нелепым образцом плохого сиквела. Может быть это я что-то не понимаю? Может быть Собака ожидала от меня, что поиграв пару часика за какую-то мерзкую бабу, я стану ей сопереживать и вовсе перейду на ее сторону? Не знаю даже, что сказать. С одной стороны события вокруг Эбби были интересными, вот только сам персонаж мне этим больше не понравился. Эти события не хотелось бы выписывать из игры, но все же - заставлять себя играть против своей же стороны - мерзко.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While the game mechanics, game play and graphics is a state of art. The Last of Us is the type of game that is weighted by its story telling and plot, and this is where the game has a shockingly poor story.

    The story of this game has been made to forcefully divert itself from the natural development of the first chapter in a very violent purposeless manner. I do understand that the authors have clearly stated how this game is about hate and revenge. However if you put the time and attention in the game, you can clearly see that the game is made over misplaced moral degeneration and cutting the main characters in the most disrespectful way imaginable.

    Joel in the Last of Us was and still one of the most bad ass character in the history of gaming. He was not prefect with only the instinct of survival as his only drive to keep going in the ugly world he lives in. But Ellie existence in his life has opened the door to the player to explore the depth of his character. Showing how realistic and justified his action were to be.

    Joel saves Abby, an abnormally masculine and bad looking female with every a treat that a normal human being would despise, and have the highest level of moral degeneration. When she find out who he is, she kills him out of revenge in the most unmemorable way you can image. The writer does not let him die a heroic death, but on floor of no where location that doesn't have any further connection to the story. To add salt to the injury, a character that resemble Neil Drunkman spit on Joel dead body as a sign of disrespect to the figure that Joel represent.

    the entirety of the game play is to follow Ellie and Abby journey to meet and fight to death, but that doesn't happen. The player will go through 25 to 30 hours of a marathon of revenge, that doesn't take place. Putting the player in a position to question the purpose of making such a pointless story.

    To be fair, the flash back between Ellie, Joel and Tommy are beautiful. But that anger me more, how can you make such a good flash backs, yet constructing such a horrible current story that lack every sense of depth.

    this part of the review will be very personal opinion, but it has to be out there for you to read. the political influence in this game is disgustingly unbearable. If the plot of the story is written buy the same writer of the original Last of Us, then I wouldn't say that.

    Even as an Iraqi middle eastern man, it bugs me why would an Alpha male Texan Character like Joel meet his end like this.

    MY final massage to Naughty Dog is this; how can you expect players to appreciate and respect your work, when you disrespected and forsaken your own legacy.

    I don't get the point of the game, So Ellie is ok killing all this people that even wasn't in the room where Joel was killed but she doesn't kill the one who hurt her the most by killing him I don't understand lol

This one, however, failed miserably to even land close to what made the last game such a wonderful experience. The story telling here feels lazy, and the game play left much to be desired. TheWords cannot properly express how deeply disappointed I am with this game. I thoroughly enjoyed the last one, and I'd dare to say it was one of my top ten favourite games on the PlayStation 3.     The game had pretty graphics. Game-play is slightly better than it was 8 years ago, but the story is utter garbage. The game forces you to do terrible things, and play as people you utterly hate. I find the story appalling to put it mildly.

The damn game makes you play HALF OF IT as the body builder chick Abby after she beat Joel. Like who wants to even play as her??? Then we have to fight Ellie and beat the crap out of her. Ugh. Idk why they show her backstory, to make you feel sympathy for her? Definitely no sympathy from me. Joel didn’t torture her father he killed him fast and to protect Ellie from dying. In my opinion the storyline is trash, and the sex scenes are not needed. The ending is stupid nobody can hold their breath for that long.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There was a correct way to write this story, using all the same character deaths and plot points. There was a correct way to make Abby more sympathetic of a character, by making the player play through more of the immediate aftermath of Joel's actions at the end of The Last of Us. If we had to play through 3-4 hours of a young Abby dealing with her father's death alone, the fall of the fireflies alone, her struggles with the Seraphites and joining the WLF alone all before the point where she killed Joel it would've added more tension to her first meeting with Joel, it would've given the player time to understand Abby's grief and rage. Instead it rushes all of its character development, wastes so much potential between Abby and Lev (the only character other than Yara that I actually liked and had sympathy for, at least among Abby's crew). Even Joel's burial is rushed, no broken Ellie and Tommy giving a eulogy. The only parts of this story which they actually took the time to flesh out were the Dina/Ellie romance, which I quite liked, and the Joel/Ellie flashbacks. I don't know how seven years can go by with this little character development going on, maybe there were too many ideas on the table that got scrapped, or maybe it is just plain laziness but this game's graphics and gameplay were ready for release; the story was premature. Too much shock value, Abby is too ruthless and feels too invulnerable in her play style for the player to actually see her as anything other than a brute who cheats with a comrade's boyfriend, almost knowingly kills a pregnant girl (thank god for Yara speaking some sense into her).

    The writers need to take a good hard look at themselves and the reaction to the story that is happening, yes some people are bigots and trashing it for bigoted reasons but I have read many reviews here and for every 1 bigoted review I see 9 disappointed fans. I now know I can't trust the reviews of critics or the trailers of Naughty Dog in their next release. I only wish now that I could have seen the version of TLoU 2 that Bruce Starley would've co-directed and Amy Hennig would've co-wrote. My heart goes out to all of the voice actors, artists, coders, and animators that have seen their hard work wasted on this weak shell of a story.

    Neil Druckmann needs to do some soul searching for what he's really trying to accomplish as a writer, there's pushing the limits of story telling and then there's relishing in butchery, butchering character development, butchering beloved characters, and butchering the fanbase.    … Expand

    I avoided myself from all the spoilers. All I knew was people were angry about the story. However, as I played the game I tried to think positively. Even at the early game where some 'big' event happened , I tried to have positive mind and progressed through the story. At the mid game where another huge event happened, I still, STILL, tried to think, 'okay let's progress further and thenI avoided myself from all the spoilers.     This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous and painful to even hear about tbh, left alone to actually play it, I mean even Ellie in the first game knew to stay vigilant and defensive in the first encounter with David. How dare Naught Dog just gave my old man Joel such an undignified death??
    This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I can still remember the goods days with the first game a few years ago back when I was in highschool and after all these year of waiting my man was killed by a witless woman in the first few hours into the game. No matter what the background story of that woman is, I simply DO NOT CARE ANYMORE. The only regret is I wasn't able to kill EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the hospital building back in the ending of the last game.
    Besides not even giving the option to avenge Joel is like John Wick lets the brat who killed his dog live after all the pursuit and battlescar he suffered which makes completely NO sense.

    Stop buying this game folks, especially for those who have played the first TLOU, because Neil Druckmann is gonna tear your heart apart and stamp on it. Also, TLOU2 just gave us a perfect example of how political correctness destroyed a perfect series.

    The director of the game went out of his way to make this a bad game. He wanted to make a political statement, putting in ridiculous amounts of lgbtqwerty+ people (I'm okay with representation but they didn't do it right), rather than give the fans what they wanted. Don't be mislead by the fake reviews or ones done by players that have only played 2-4 hours of the game before reviewing. 50% of the game is played with a different character that we know nothing about. Which might deter some players as it would've deterred me had I not fallen to the same fate.

    Overall (Since it's mostly a story focused game) 3/10

    -- Characters were bland and easily forgotten; they had no impact in their roles and were simply supportive characters to make the player feel less alone, they served no big purpose in the story
    and they felt as though they were added only to kill off, which could've worked if they bothered making them matter more to the player, e.g. (Sam & henry in The Last of Us).
    -- Story fell short due to having many plot-holes: (Big spoilers):

    - Multiple flashbacks felt unfitting and randomized at times, which took the player outside the immersive experience one should experience
    - Joel's death felt forced to illicit a poor shock experience which could've been executed better
    (Either added value by learning more about Abby beforehand, or delayed further into the game)
    - Playing as Abby after a cliffhanger scene made the experience unenjoyable and most players agreed that her role took a very long part in the full game, fixing the issue could've been resolved with her role being played in future DLC or simply shortening her gameplay time. This resulted in mass outrage and fans were not happy with good reason. It's simply not fun to play as the antagonist that killed the previous loved main character in such a gruesome way, and finding any way to empathize with her was gone after her deed.
    - The ending is a cliche; revenge is bad, which is okay if it wasn't contradictory to itself. Abby left undeserving of mercy where Ellie lost everything dear to her without compensation. It's realistic but unsatisfying. A good story can be shocking, sad, and emotional without destroying what everyone loves, and it's unfortunate that Neil could not understand this point.    … Expand

First and foremost, the gameplay, flashback sections, and graphics are what singlehandedly saves this game from what is the worst **** story ever written in all existence and why I'm giving this game a 4 instead of a 0. Remember that LOU2 panel awhile back where neil said, "We wanted to honor these characters so just trust us, we're gonna do right by you"? Remember that? kill one of our favorite main characters in the first 2 hours in the most retarded out of character way possible by the most unlikable character ever, spend the entire game as a hollow burned out ellie killing everybody around her but right when the player finally gets to kill the one who we, the players, really wanna kill, we decide to just let her live instead....... oh yeah..... and we spend damn near the whole 2nd part of the game as this **** who killed our favorite MC as the game tries to get us to sYmPaTHiZe with this **** cuz sHe'S gOt fEeLiNgS tOo and vEnGeAnCe LeAdS 2 mORe vEnGeaNcE mAnNn. so ellie lets her go and she gets away with neil and anita's new bargain bin ellie while our ellie goes home to find everyone she ever cared about gone and now she's broken, empty, and alone with a mangled hand and can no longer play guitar.....................right.................     this game had so much potential but naughty dog decided to allow an SJW to write the script and it's blatantly obvious, and the developers were just lazy, improving on nothing but graphics.
    do not buy this game. just watch someone else play it, your day will still be ruined for less money.

I wanted to love this game, and I wanted it to be even better then the original. There are plenty of people who are upset about Ellie being LGBT+ and other stupid complaints, but I'm not here to complain about that. I open the game expecting to be in love with the characters and story, just like the original, but not only did I not even get out of the first cutscene without the game glitching out and soft locking, the combat tutorials were just plain bad, with the introduction of dodging and the combat nerf being annoying mechanics for both me, who played the original recently enough to be familiar with the gameplay, but for my brother who hasn't played it in years. The dodge mechanic just flat out sucks, it doesn't work often, makes combat extremely repetitive, and with the combat speed of all the zombies in the game, you can never not use it for melee fights. The writing is something I'd expect from a 12 year old girl who just got off a binge of those awful Netflix movies, the 365 Days type, where the writing is bad, but it's "mature" enough to make them feel older then they are. The game opens with about 20 minutes of teen drama and sex, something straight out of high school movies, and then the first part closes out with Joel being killed by some girl that is just flat out annoying, in a way that makes no sense for his character, and very early. It makes the plot feel rushed and it genuinely ruins the game from the start. The game doesn't get better from here. This honestly plays out like a bad fan fiction, and the worst part is I know NaughtyDog won't address it, remake it, or make a better third game to fix this dumpster fire of a sequel. So now what I and many others consider one of the best games in video game history, it essentially ruins the original game and the entire franchise as it is now. I'm honestly disappointed in the studio for this massive oversight on garbage writing.… Expand

Since the Gameplay is lacking, the Story really needed to be phenomenal. (Like the first game). Instead we are left with a character you dont sympathize with, and the idea that the characters you love are the bad guys. It tried to hard to be deep, subversive, and Edgy. It doesn't have to be sunshine and Roses, but the game tries so hard to be M-Rared that it sacrifices story. They bring in cute dogs to have a fan favorite brutally slaughter it, they kill off a main character like hes nothing, they beat Joel ti death for a reason to broad to mean anything, and completely undermine the theme presented in the game. If a the main idea is that, revenge cycles never end, then you should stick to that idea and have revenge cycles not end. Then the character you hate has several flash backs that turns mediocre idea, into an obvious shoe in. If she really was planned, then she should have appeared at the hospital, if she is this christ figure the game makes her out to be, then why dont I care for her? I see many people saying Criticizing the game makes you a bigot. Let me just say, the representation in this game is great, and doesnt effect the game in any way. It's not treated as a big deal, which is good, it makes it seem like what it its, a normal thing, not some HUGE deal. I like that, but the way the game ends is just depressing, it's edgy for no reason. It hands you this **** idea, that you are a bad person, who deserves a **** life, even though you didnt make the decisions. It's like telltale punishing you but in a game where the decisions are pre-made. In the end, the game seems pointless, there to send a message that is empty. It's not depressing, its not deep, it's just a waste of resources and money. The idea employees were abused is already bad enough, but now their work is being **** on by a horrible story? Pathetic. The game is full of unnecessary Sex, and violence, but lacks the bloodlust when you wanna see it. They'll show a murderered dog, bleeding and whimpering, they'll show Joel getting his head smashed, Ellie losing a thumb, Dina being brutalized, Jessie being shot, Tommy losing an eye, but wont let us watch Ellie Kill Abby's Crew in detail, or even let us kill Abby in the end. I dont care about Abby, and that's not anyone's fault but the story. She's poorly written, and since she quickly kills a fan favorite, its laughable that they think well grow to like her. Imagine being forced to kill people as hitler, then getting called a bot or bigot for not enjoying the character. It's also extremely funny how they try to make us feel bad for Abby's (Forgettable) crew, but everytime one was killed I giggled and felt good, was I not supposed to enjoy that? Cause I really did! Tommy sniping that guy was AWESOME. It was amazing to see! Then the end has Abby suddenly worse for wear, in a christ like position, that's when I lost it. I dont CARE that she got hurt. We spent all that time with her and all i could think was "hehehe Nice". She is a ****ty protagonist and a ****ty antagonist, the last of us was built on the father daughter relationship, it is a mistake to remove that component. It can work, but I doubted it would. The revenge story is only made worse by the laughable ending. Abby is let go, Ellie is single and cant even play guitar. Its edgy for people who dont like being edgy, its deep for people who have only ever stood in puddles, it's a story for people who have only read Alphabet books. It would be one thing to be unsatisfactory, but the lack of understanding its fans, and message, is another thing. Dont expect me to feel bad, don't expect compassion for a character we never cared about! Abby is very Similar to negan from the walking dead, there are 3 VERY different things they do that make him so loveable, 1.)Negan makes up for his actions, 2.) He does get punished in prison and a slit throat, 3.) They dont expect you to love him at all, the fans CHOSE TO after he was fleshed out, after he killed a side character; and after his intentions were made clear. He did it to neutralize a threat, Abby did it cause she was mad, and she gets away with it. Thank GOD I borrowed the game, it is a mess that (much like the star war sequels) focuses too much on being shocking. If you watch all the cut scenes at 2x speed and never think of it again? 10/10 game But the second you start to put any thought into the story, it all comes undone, 7 years of painstaking work wasted on some game with an identity crisis, you turned the last of us into a teen novel, the same type you mocked in the 1st game. When Van Gogh started, he painted the hands of the peasants, he took a risk to make his art, he took time to think of the theme to present, the last of us tried to think, but stumbled and fell so hard on its face it ruins the franchise as a whole.
