    To quote the great Reggie Fils Aime, "If it's not fun, why bother?" The game is a slog, the writing is half baked, there's a self insert character of the writer that feels very masturbatory. It's just not good.

    I will not waste my time going into detail so here here is why this game is bad and indeed deserves a one as a score: Just imagine someone wanted to ruin all original characters, shove new ones down your throat and having them do the most unforgivable actions but then Uno reverse card it and pull the cheapest sympathizer tricks out of their butts like "oh look they save animals!"     I really wanted to like this game.. The graphics are astonishing and really push the ps4 to the limits but i feel like while trying to force you to like the new characters they completely messed up the character development of the ones we bought the game for. Naughty dog had their focus and their priorities quite wrong with this one...

Not because of poor gameplay, or poor graphics, or poor animation, or poor soundtrack, or bad lighting, because these factors are not only substantial but in some cases (graphics, lighting and animation) extraordinary. The reason this game sucks is because of poor storytelling. Ultimately, what is fundamental in determining if this type of solo game is worth rating as great is not the gameplay or the visuals or the soundtrack but it’s the story. Without a great story the player has no motivation to engage in the game. So regardless if the gameplay is fun it is kind of pointless if the player has no motivation to play it.

    The story sucks because of the following big reasons, although there are many smaller, more specific reasons that I won’t get into. The first being: absolutely terrible pacing. This game takes no time to reintroduce previous characters and does not take the time to develop new characters in a way that allows the player to understand and empathise with their decisions. The main plot points which occur are thrown together and feel contrived because of the moral agenda that the developers are trying to push which is that revenge leads to a cycle of inescapable and immoral violence. Ellie’s new love interest is thrown in at the start and we’re expected to care about her just because Ellie has the hots for her. We’re expected as a player to want to fight alongside her and care about their relationship despite totally boring character development and dialogue.

    Which is the second point, although well acted and realistic, the dialogue is so painfully boring throughout most of the game and it is painful to have to listen to their cute little conversations when your only motivation (if you can find any) is hatred after they kill off the main playable character from the first game less than 3 hours in. When you are fuelled by hate and not the hopeful goal which the first game had, it can be difficult to listen to dina’s trash jokes and the two girls flirting while zombies and people try to shoot, stab and consume them.

    The third big reason has to be the disrespect done to Joel. I mean they literally spit on his bloodied corpse. I don’t have a problem with killing characters or “sad parts” in stories. My issue is that they kill this character so early in the game, using the most wicked methods possible and it is done by a new character that we don’t give a crap about. And you’re forced to play as that character later in the game. It doesn’t even make sense how they kill him. The whole of the first game Joel doesn’t trust anyone. He spots an ambush like an absolute pro, it was even used in one of the trailers for the original. He is not a man that gets led into one of these situations and yet he ended up there because the develops just had to kill off the men because this is a game about WAHMEN.

    And that’s the fundamental flaw with this game. Not that the female characters take the lead. Not that there is a gay relationship. The problem is that the developers were clearly so obsessed with representing those groups in this game that it completely clouded what could have otherwise been a great story. Their politics, their agenda, their prejudice got in the way of their ability as storytellers. It forced them to kill Joel because he’s an old white man. It forced them to make the journey about these two girls and their dull, underdeveloped relationship and it forced them to have the antagonist (who isn’t really even an antagonist) as a completely unbelievable female character that is either trans or an impossible occurrence. I mean, no woman has that level of muscle and if she is trans or genetically dispositioned, couldn’t you at least explain that to us? Why is she built like a bodybuilder? Is she on roids? If so, how did she get them during an apocalypse? Is she genetically deformed? How did that affect her growing up? I mean, please explain your insane choices at least. Anyway, I’m into ranting now. This game is a 4/10. 5/10 at a push if you love this type of one man army gameplay. Save your money. Replay the first.    … Expand

    So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad.
    The reason is: character development.
    If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her.
    I mean she KILLED Joel!
    How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel?
    Hell no!
    That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning.

    This game is just bad. Do yourself a favor and dont buy it. The reviews the journalists wrote are either bought by Sony or ND or are heavily politicly influenced. Sad thing is: because of that same journalists will most likely make this game GOTY. What a joke.

    Safe your money and buy something else.

    And last but not least: this is technically a very good game but the story/characters is/are SO bad it just doesnt matter how well the rest is done.

    You want a good revenge story? Watch "Oldboy" then you know how to make a good revenge story that shocks everybody to their core.

I can say that is a good game, graphics, music, ambient, everything in the game is so wonderful, I'm impressed with the entire work of Naughty Dog. Taking part with the story, I think that is a good way to show the humanity in his entire point of view, because you can get there and try to revenge one of your loved ones... But it's difficult to make it, this game makes me think about and I love the final decision. The only thing that I feel so disgusting at the beginning, is the change of character at the middle of the game because restart my character progress and it forces to complete that, many difficult to get used with Abby, but at the end you can realize without problems.

    A must play, yes but I think you can wait for a sale, not with this full price.    … Expand

    I was ok with Joel's death when it happened initially. I like a good revenge story and I can see what Naughty Dog was going for in that gruesome golfclub scene, but the plotline wasn't really delivered on. The ending left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like it was just for the sake of doing something different.

    It's lost the magic of the first game for me. I'm just left asking why this one even exists. Like who is this for? because it doesn't feel like it's for the same people who enjoyed the first one.

    I am impressed by the graphics of this game ( I have played it) I love the environments, I never felt so immersed in a game, while disconnected. I will give you a list of the "goods" and the "bads"

    Good :

    Amazing graphic's
    Little details
    acceptable character development (debatable)

    Bads :

    Killing An Important character "too soon"
    Dumb story decisions
    almost bad AI
    Terrible ending

    We need to go into detail now:
    first, The AI in not that great, and the story decisions are not neither.
    Let me explain, you have Joel brutally murdered by Abby, At the first 2-3 hours of the game.
    The other 20 hours is to get revenge, fine, but the ending is frustrating. you did all of that just for Ellie to realize "Oh, Killing people will get me nowhere"... While Joel would do anything for her, I was disappointed, I avoided all the leaks, played the game to be met by a bd narrative.

    Overall, WE don't care about the graphics, we care about our beloved characters and their journey.
    If the last of us sequel was just a book with great writing, I would buy it.
    But They have put a lot of effort into this environment and the world around us.

    Se sabe que lo que caracterizo a la primera parte fue su excelente historia y gameplay, pero parece que al realizar la segunda parte no les importo afectar lo ocurrido en la historia de la primera parte para favorecer esta secuela. Alright so where to begin with this game, when it was first announced and the trailers started to circulate it looked solid overall and looked like it was going to be a great sequel to a beloved game. However, as more and more content for the game was shown it was very obvious that this wasn't going to go well. This game is an example of trying to appeal to everyone which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the way it's executed is done poorly, they make large changes to characters that don't make any sense. Joel went from being a well-rounded and cautious individual to essentially saying "yeah lets go into this lodge with these strangers" which was clearly done just so they could kill off the character. Then you have what they do to pretty much every female in the game, they make them buff and look nothing like a female and while I can understand that not every female is going to look like what is considered conventional, but it's jarring when you walk up to what looks like this buff macho dude and then they have the most feminine voice ever. Now it's on to the story, the first half of the game where you play Ellie I'd say is genuinely somewhat enjoyable and things are running fine. The game however takes a sharp turn when Joel meets a 9 iron to the face and the story just turns sloppy. The worst part about this game is the second half where you end up in the shoes of this character that the game tries desperately to get you to like, trying so hard to make you sympathize with the character but it just doesn't work because while some of the actions Joel and Ellie have made are bad, it doesn't take away the players love for the characters. So then it turns into this hatred towards your own character and you're just hoping that she ends up getting killed somehow. Then to top it all off you have the worst thing I think I have ever seen in a game, a self-insert sex scene between Owen (literally the likeness Neil Druckmann) and Abby, it is genuinely disgusting to see and is the cherry on top for one of the worst games of 2020. If you don't care at all about the story, go ahead and try this, you'll get some enjoyment out of it as the game play is ok, but if you're like me and plenty other TLOU fans don't even give this a try.… Expand

    I do really loved the first game and trully was a fan of it, it makes me really sad to see how they have destroyed ALL you loved from the first game without any payoff, and I trully waited until the end of my gameplay to see if going through all of it was worth it... be warned... it wasn't

    Great graphics but that is all this game has got going for it. Blatant woke gender politics agenda coupled with horrible narrative technique and just a plain bad story. Everything that I loved in the first installment was crushed and canceled in this one. Also too many long cinematic non-gameplay scenes. Totally unenjoyable.
