    This was a perfect game in my book. The graphics and gameplay were great and were a good step-up on everything great in LoU. The story for me was a great journey to go through. They chose to go a path which I did not foresee. It is not something that might work for everyone but all character choices are understandable and the way the story is told is the best in any game to date.

    Playing half the game as Abby, the person hunting Joel/Ellie, makes absolutely zero sense. We all paid $60 to play as Joel/Ellie and find a conclusion to their epic journey. I couldn’t have been more disappointed when we kept playing more and more and more with Abby. A terrible plot, horribly story, and overall giant disappointment. I give the first game a 9/10.     The graphics and mechanics can not save the terrible writed story we had. This sequel cannot make Justice to the first game, which was amazing. It feels like a Netflix bad series.

Gameplay is really fun with all those animations, details, quality AI and solid mechanics. Naughty Dog didn't dissapoint me with games beatiful engaging story. In first 10-15 hours I had a strong hate against Abby. And because of this hatred, I slaughtered all of Abby's friends. But after you start to play with Abby, you realize that no one is the true villian in this world. Abby is just a normal human being with emotions inside her. Abby part is just like first game actually. She starts her story as a soldier but after spending time with Lev she becomes a similar character like Joel. Just like Ellie , Abby wanted to take revenge. And she did it with killing Joel. But killing Joel resulted with Ellie killing all of Abby's friend. All this killing gave birth to a circle of revenge.

    Flashbacks show us Ellie and Joel didn't had good relations before joel died. And Ellie feels guilty because she didn't treated Joel nice before he died. To stop feeling guilty, Ellie uses revenge as a tool. All this drama transformed Ellie into a cold killer. But finnaly in the end she realizes killing Abby will not bring Joel back and will not stop the circle of revenge .With a final flashback Ellie remembers she forgave Joel. Ellie stops feeling guilty ,spares Abby's life and breaks circle of revenge. But it costs her the ability to play guitar (the last thing left from Joel) and Dina. And Ellie once remembers she must contiune to live on.

    The story of the game that I have summarized above is one of the best stories I have ever seen. And combining this story with perfect gameplay results with a mustplay masterpiece. Also sorry for bad English.    … Expand

    The best game I've ever played, honestly. Nothing even comes close to the level of detail, polish and quality of storytelling. This game hit me hard like nothing else had. It made me love the first game even more and deepened my investment in this franchise tenfold. This is a divisive game, but you need to play it yourself, don't rely on the opinions of people who've never even touched the game.

    Una historia buena pero mal contada y muy larga hasta el punto de ser tediosa, finalizando el juego no trasmite nada y deja una sensación de vacío.
    Jugabilidad destaca muy poco, muy similar a la primera entrega.
    Sin embargo en cuanto ambientacion, animacion, sonido y graficos hicieron un trabajo espectacular

I’m actually really disappointed in other players because they don’t see how amazing part 2 was and is. People in my opinion, just can’t see how great it is because of Joel. They have all this hate for Abby too. Which is just stupid because, Abby is actually a great character and more specially the main antagonist, or actually let me say, that maybe Ellie is also a antagonist or maybe an antihero. Ellie did so much wrong in the game too. Abby and Ellie both did. And now they live with that. Which is why Ellie makes her decision to let Abby go. But enough of the story, gameplay is amazing. Sound quality is so great. And the amount of weapons is great too. The way that the combat system evolved too is just great. Also, character development is better, and the actors gave a great performance which I love. Overall great game, just most people are just little crybaby’s… Expand

    Q: why we have to play with “Abbey” for that long!!?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 drags Ellie and Joel through the dirt. It spends its opening killing off Joel like he is nothing in exchange for revenge story fuel with the revenge story that follows making Ellie into an irrational hateable killer. I'm fine with naughty dog turning her into the bad guy but her character development is such a mess and is way too big of a leap as she irrationally and brutally kills around hundred without any sympathy and even namecalling as they die and all this is meant to be fueled by a broken relationship with a man who she knows is this irredeemable monster. besides all this, ellies side of the story isn't particularly interesting as she simply jumps from location to location looking for someone to lead her to Abby. The second half of the game following Abby was a lot more enjoyable as we see her perspective and shows how she is dealing with the guilt of killing Joel as she searches for redemption by helping Lev and Yara. It did get a little sloppy near the end when she killed some of her wolf friends which felt a bit unjustifiably evil even if it was in self-defense but overall Abby's story was pretty good. It all leads to an ending that feels pretty underwhelming and pointless with Abby and Ellie just parting ways which wouldn't be as bad as it was if Ellie didn't literally kill 100 people to get to Abby.

    In terms of gameplay, the combat is pretty great. It's brutal and tense as you play naughty dog perfected cat and mouse gameplay with the enemy, however, there is only really a few hours of combat with most of the game consisting of story and a terrible looting and exploration system which consists of just going into rooms and mashing triangle.

    Besides gameplay and story, the game looks and sounds great with beautifully detailed environments and great music to match.

    Lastly, the companions in this game are pretty uninteresting, Manny and Jesse practically do nothing and die, Diana is too similar to Ellie and is basically a yes man to her horrific actions. The only good ones are Lev and Yara who provide an interesting and engaging story on abbys side.    … Expand

    Joel dead in 1 hour of play. he makes decisions that don't make sense to the character. all the time the game wants you to hate joel and ellie and likes abby. decisions that don't make sense.

    This game is probably the game of the year for me. I don't care about all the angry funboys saying "i don't like the game, it's a 0/10 because the story didn't go the way i wanted...". It's meant to be a sad and depressing game, deal with it. That being said don't expect to have fun with this game. You have been worned.

    First of all i would like to thank naughty dog for this amazing game that not only is the definition of a sequel is also a memorable and full of emotions journey. Few games did gave me that experience. Great gameplay geat story from start to finish i didnt mind playing with other characters cause that was the beauty of it.     I have played this game and I was so disappointed, I played the first one too and I can say that the gameplay was indeed improved from the first one; but the writers just basically shat all over TLOU story by you know what happened on it, so it's the worst videogame ever and doesn't deserve a GOTY at all.

Sia dal lato tecnico che dal lato del gameplay questo gioco è quasi impeccabile. Il giudizio della storia è soggettivo ma sicuramente essa è stata raccontata in un modo fantastico, per questi motivi si merita di vincere il goty. Amazing scenarios and graphics, and the gameplay was really more enjoyable than the first one, an improved version. The history sucks tho. What the actual **** was that ending. She gets to live after that **** She has a two ****ing second flashback of joel and that's it? That was just ****ing horrible, I hope you don't make a the last of us 3. Neil Druckman please, get the **** out of naughty dog, don't ruin this amazing studio with your ****ty storytelling. I actually think the LGBTI+ members of the game are well implemented and don't draw too much attention to that trait of themselves.     As a person that has played nearly 60 hours the game and will continue playing it, I can say that it is a superb masterpiece!! Nostalgia and prejudices aside this is a game wonderfully done , it is clearly and evolution from everything that first one did , better game-play, better graphics, better soundtrack, better storytelling, better narrative and better acting! don´t get me wrong, IAs a person that has played nearly 60 hours the game and will continue playing it, I can say that it is a superb masterpiece!! If you have never played the first one, maybe you will like it. If you have, you will most likely hate it.     I truly love this story and it is not one that I will ever forget. Many people do not understand that the last of us was not meant to be mainstream and therefore wanted to tell a much more dark and realistic story where not all of us get happy endings and life is very unpredictable, and that is why I find this to be a magnificent piece of art. The reason I do not give it a ten out of ten even though I love the story is solely because I think the gameplay is really outdated, and I actually near hate it. I sped through firefights because I found it so similar to every other encounter. The sequel is definitely due for an overhaul and in all honesty I don't think that survival action is really fit for this game, it often just becomes annoying having to constantly gather and gather. Definitely worth the price for a great story and even better if you haven't played many third person shooters.… Expand

    Decent gameplay mechanics, but the story sucked so much that i was really disinterested for long parts of the game hoping it would somehow improve, which i doesn't. Really disappointed that i gave the game a shot despite the negative reviews.
    In Conclusion DON'T BUY, this game SUCKSSS!!

    There are many reasons to love this game, while there are many reasons to hate this game. Thus 6/10. The inconsistent characters, weird turning points in the plot, and bad pace in story telling ruined something that's supposed to be a master piece.

In an industry with a lot of mediocre releases this game does stand out from the crowd, and itLet's start with the obvious: this game did a lot right. Technically it's a masterpiece, the acting and mo-cap are excellent, the attention to detail and level of polish is exceptional. It takes clever gameplay elements from the first game and makes welcome improvements in multiple ways. In an industry with a lot of mediocre releases this game does stand out from the crowd, and it doesn't surprise me that critics loved it.

    Users have been more divided though, so let's next cover the elephant in the room: no, this game doesn't have "an agenda." Honestly I've asked lots of people what they mean by that and I've yet to receive a coherent answer (unless you count "the existence of lesbians" as an agenda). This game has flaws, but they aren't related to politics in either the game's themes or its creators.

    So why did this game not match the excellent first game? Well there's 2 things you need to realise about the story. Firstly, many games centre around player agency but TLOU2 has fully fledged characters and instead invites you to walk in their shoes- whether you agree with their decisions or not. The first game did this too (I remember much ranting about the lack of choice at the end of that game), so this isn't inherently bad game design, but it could cause frustration. Secondly, this game is about revenge but it isn't about catharsis of *achieving* revenge. This isn't Taken or John Wick where revenge is the flimsy excuse for a bad-ass character to leave a trail of violence. Instead it's really about obsession: about pursuing revenge to escape something else; repeatedly characters throw themselves into courses of action in order to avoid something that is really hurting them (in the 2 main examples it is avoiding grief by pursuing revenge, well past the point of rationality, but in 1 case it's really to avoid an awkward conversation... yeah I know.)

    So Naughty Dog had an ambitious idea for a story- make the player walk in the shoes of characters who are running from their emotions, who act abhorrently, who the player has reason to hate. It could have worked too, but I think (personal theory here) the reason user scores have been so divided is because ND tripped themselves up in the story-telling, and as a result they didn't manage to bring everyone along with the story in they way they hoped.

    I'll avoid specific spoilers, but despite dramatic early events the first part of the game is actually a slow burn. There isn't much tension between the characters present then, so all of the narrative tension comes from the distant promise of pursuing revenge. But on top of this, the game heavily uses flashbacks to flesh out story points. Taken on their own, these flashbacks are lovely and beautifully written, but in the pacing of the game they feel like interruptions. In the Left Behind DLC of the first game flashbacks worked really well- but that game alternated between 2 time periods. In TLOU2 each flashback is to a new vignette- requiring exposition, setting, and sometimes new characters. They feel like side-quests that interrupt the flow of the main story. And this leads up to the first big problem: a significant story moment occurs midway through TLOU2 where the writers take their first big ambitious leap- and it feels at first like another sidequest. Rather than engaging in the dramatic new perspective, I think many players played on wanting to get back to the "main" story- and thus missed that, actually, the story was now going in a completely different direction to tell a completely different message. Miss that turn and everything in this game's second half feels incoherent.

    Having said that, this game also loses a point for the 3rd act, which either wasn't long enough or was too long. It had its moments, but it lost all momentum and the final big moments felt more like a whimper than a bang. Again, if you had missed the change in storytelling direction 10 hours earlier the ending wasn't just limp- it must have seemed utterly detached from the "revenge story" of the early game.

    So overall, exceptional game in many ways but over-ambitious story that it couldn't quite pull off the telling required to make it land with everyone, and an ending that works better on paper than in delivery. A sequel to a rightly beloved game that fell short of that standard. Nevertheless one of the better games I played this year and it deserves 8/10 (far worse games have scored better!)    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having played the game for a while now The Last of Us Part 2 brings a whole new iteration to the franchise however, I felt as though something was missing from it in order for it to compete to the level of the first one.

    The improved combat system and level design made the game immersive and responsive to the players actions. The amount of detail that was in the levels were one of the most detailed I have seen in some time especially within this current generation of games. The physics of the foliage overgrowing on buildings to blood trails in the snow made the players character feel more attached to the environment like reality to provide that immersive experience along with the detailed special sound incorporated within it. Another great part to highlight is the combat system and how that incorporates itself within the games levels, this made the players experience feel more unique as your finishers sometimes incorporated smashing enemies through windows or using objects within close proximity to finish them off utilising the environment and surroundings effectively.

    Now I've got the positives out of the way here are some of the negatives in which I think had impacted the game a lot and have caused me to give the score I have given. Having one of the main protagonists die by one of the players characters made an intense and powerful story but unfortunately the execution of the killers character felt forced upon and that majority of the story with Abby feels as though Naughty Dog are trying to push you for sympathy of her actions. Due to a large portion of the game is played by her it kind of takes away what the whole story should have been about. From what I can see it looks as though many changes were made throughout the development which then caused the game to feel rushed in some parts which is quite disappointing as there was great potential there.

    Overall, it’s not a bad game but don't go in there playing it with high expectations as you may be disappointed.    … Expand

    Even though the ending left me empty it was an unbelievable experience. The last of us 2 tells a story wich couldn't be more realistic and a more emotional rollercoaster. This game is pure gold and a perfect sequel.

The story telling was stellar; some cuts were risky and took you out of the pathos of the moment, but the way it was done feels intentional to make you breath and see for then trying to understand what brought everyone to that moment. I enjoyed then seeing supporting characters contradict themselves at one point, which shows how the feelings that the developers had you go through, can change people in many ways. the game play felt odd for some reason though. Prepare yourselves to cry your eyes out throughout, scream at the tv and grieve to the point of hating the creators, but then to think back at the first game and accept that this was the only way to tell this story. If it had been told in any other way we would have complained that it was the same thing rehashed; so I really admire the creators for taking this risk and not bending to fan service, but punching us in the gut. And trust me, when I saw the situation that starts the journey, I had to stop and cry my heart out for 30 minutes straight.… Expand
