The only good thing about this game is the genuine look of the scenery and the sounds. Game play is pathetic and extremely repetitious. The poor designed combat roll is worthless. The Star grading system is horrid as unless you spent months practicing in multi-player you can hardly get two of the 5 stars in each challenge. Star Wars: Battlefront has to be the biggest disappointment in gaming in a long time. Online never has appealed to me, so the only gaming experiences I am interested in are single-player driven. I honestly wouldn't mind the fact that this game has no story mode had it not taken the classic Battlefront franchise, both of which had excellent single-player campaigns that were intriguing and fun to play through. The fact that EA and DICE thought that a campaign mode was unnecessary really shows far removed this game is from the original two games. The game is unpolished, with a number of animation glitches happening within the first few hours of the game. The heroes, while fun to play as, feel stupidly overpowered while playing with bots, and as a result the biggest thing Star Wars: Battlefront had going for it added thirty minutes of playtime, only ten of which were refreshing. I can guess that the heroes are more fun to play as in the online mode, but I've read that people will just hang back and steal the hero tokens so nobody except a few people will every play as heroes. The other single-player modes are fine, but there is so little substance here that they all feel stale, boring, and repetitive. There's nothing of interest on these linear, barren maps, so no match feels distinct, not to mention the fact that everything in this game is so limited in terms of substance. There are no open-ended systems to use to your advantage, and no clever physics. This game is so limited, and I think that is the root of all the problems here. Yes the aesthetics have been nailed, and everything looks and sounds authentic to the Star Wars universe, but nothing about the gameplay actually reinforces the visuals, and as a result Star Wars: Battlefront lacks any sort of depth or interest. There is so little that appeals to me in Star Wars: Battlefront, that I could not excuse myself for giving this game anything more than a 2 out of 10. Expand

This Star Wars game was just another money consuming game from EA. You could get all the fun out of it (including DLCs) in about 8 hours. The multiplayer only thing was horrible and the content was lacking. When DLCs came out I was ready to give this game another chance. And then again, they only added a few maps and one new game mode. The heroes were just stupid and you practically have to sprint your **** ass off to get to be them. Even if you are hero, it's probably only the last 2 seconds of the game.

This is a Star Wars game for fans, that's it. It shoves Star Wars into your face and won't let you forget it. They worked lines from the movie into other characters' dialogue to the point where it sounds like the people in the game saw Star Wars recently and are reciting lines to each other like an inside joke, while fighting Star Wars battles. "We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.

EA Greed Strikes Back should be the title of this disasterpiece. Yes, the graphics are incredible - hence the "1" score. The 9 other missing points are for the lack of fun, content, and the incessant over-charging EA continuously does AND GETS AWAY WITH.

Whats worse that the arcade-like controls is the flight controls, I dont know what they were thinking or if they even tested them because theyre just awful. They wanted to create big battles, yet they filled it with npcs. Meanwhile games like Planetside have 1200 people on a giant single map. The technology exists, but you gotta put in some effort. It's obvious EA doesn't care about making decent games, and only care about money and money from dlc with as little effort as possible. Oh, and any gane that you pay $60 for, pay for dlc, and still slaps on microtransactions is absolute garbage.

To make things worse, the shooting mechanics, balance, etc are all off. So it's a pretty skeleton of a game with Star Wars in it's name. F off with this trash.

I put in Star Wars Battlefront, played a survival and battle two of the four maps (YES, a WHOPPING FOUR), and then had to spend the next 20 mins wiping the **** out of the disc drive so I could play something that actually resembled a game. No doubt, the rest of the galaxy that we saw in the amazing games that preceded this one in the series will be available for purchase as DLC in a money-grab by Emperor EA. Darth DICE clearly looked at the original games of the series, said "Okay, this is really cool" and then proceeded to model the game after the aftermath of their next meal at Chipotle. I might have ditched my girlfriend to play this game, but at least I'm still getting screwed by EA.

I just kept going through the menu's trying to find where the game was, but clearly EA and DICE forgot to put it on the disc. Oh well, at least they have their money, clearly that's all this game was about anyway. I had to think for a moment whether I had to check the box on this review to have a spoiler warning, but honestly there is absolutely no content in the game to be spoiled.

It's sad that this game may be considered successful because EA and DICE pulled the wool over the fanbase's collective eyes and we all had to buy it to find out how crappy it is. We expected Luke Skywalker, and we got Jar Jar Binks. If you want to play Battlefront, break out the PS2, because this game is not Battlefront. Overall, I am SO disappointed! If you played the original battlefront, go back! There is no space battles, I unlocked all the weapons in about a day, the character model unlocks all suck, you can't upgrade or modify the weapons like they said you would be able to, (like in Battlefield 3) and there are only 3 worlds (Endor, Hoth and Sullist). It looks like they put together the bare-bone-basics just to sell sell sell! The season pass costs $49.99 and I can't believe I WAISTED $69.99 on the preorder.

I did not have an unreasonable notion of how the game would be before it's release. I played Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2 back in the day, and hoped it would be similar, but with more upgrades, weapons and starfighter modes. (I especially loved the space battles) This game is a huge step back! It was like buying the Beta for $70.00.

Even if you love Star Wars, save yourself, your wallet and your sanity from this boring, cookie-cutter game. I only gave it a 1 rating because at least the graphics don't suck.

I pre-ordered this game because I was a HUGE fan of the first two and the beta was fun, but the standard for fun on a free beta is a lot different than the standard on a $60 game. The beta was essentially a quarter of the full game, and the full game is essentially a quarter of a "full game." They've impressed me by offering more free maps—that's not something I normally would expect EA to do—but that still doesn't excuse them from releasing an unfinished game. And having the gall to announce a $50 DLC package before the original game even comes out is a scummy business practice, and one that really needs to die.

It's a massive step backwards from the last one, which really says a lot considering that one came out ten years ago.

I really am bummed that this game is SO hinged upon the internet. I can appreciate making a game for a market-- that for all I know is made up of online gamers-- but why not round yourself out and add some sort of narrative. What a drag.

I couldn't have been more happy to see what EA would have to offer with this new Battlefront game. And boy, did my excitement drain out quickly!! This is a disgrace to the old Battlefront games and just shows how thirsty EA is very money. Without the release of the new Star Wars movie this wouldn't have had any chance in making any money. It lacks any replay ability as it gets boring after just a few rounds of different modes. And it completely lacks any single player or offline modes!!!! Yes they are there, but they are the most boring, lazy attempts at any type of offline mode. If you don't have online then this is a complete waste of money, and with the promise of "Season Pass Content" This game is a complete joke. DO NOT BUY THE SEASON PASS!!!!!!! You are wasting your money on stuff that should be in a 60-70 dollar game. Instead you are buying 1 game for the price of 2!!!! The only way companies will stop milking your money away from you is if you STOP buying their crap!!!!! Complete waste of a game and money, the only enjoyment is the sound effects and visuals. DO NOT FALL FOR GOOD GRAPHICS. YES YOU MIGHT WANT THE ADDITION OF GOOD GRAPHICS BUT IT SHOULD BE GAMEPLAY AND STORY OVER GRAPHICS. Some of the greatest games are games that are from decades ago and yet they still have me playing them because of how fun and you can replay them over and over again without getting bored. 1/10 DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! The graphics are incredibly beautiful but the gameplay lacks depth. There are only four maps to play, which are also incredibly small. I'm annoyed by not being able to explore the maps. DICE spent as little time as they could on the single player mode and I hate online video games. It's basically a gimmick to force you to spend money on PSN-Plus. Sony's probably thinking, "Hey, if you don't have PSN Plus, you can't access the majority of the game content, so we're going to package PS4s with a game that you can only play online." Bologna, I say.

If you've got the system already, I would only buy this game if you are obsessed with first-person-shooters and multiplayer. If you are expecting any depth, I'm sorry to say this isn't a game for you. Playstation really needs to either make PS4 totally backwards compatible or make new versions of the original battlefront and battlefront ii for PS4. Because, quite frankly, my PS2 is getting old and sluggish.

    Things EA Battlefront lacks:
    1) Storyline
    2) Interesting maps
    3) Space battles
    4) Singleplayer playability (minimal selection of game modes)
    5) Splitscreen playability (minimal selection of game modes)
    6) Federation vs Republic
    7) Did I mention Depth???

Oh yeah and there's no Galactic Conquest. That was always my favorite part of Battlefront II...

I would say this game is probably worth about $20. Don't spend $60 on a game like this unless you are obsessed with multiplayer FPSs. Video games have so much potential as a form of art -- combining literature, graphics, and interactivity. Pure FPSs miss the literary and interactive aspects. Then again, maybe I'm not like most gamers... I still play Myst :P

This game lacks the content that it deserves.
I understand with previous games that DICE has created such as the battlefield series they are perfectly capable of making realistic action shooter games with a lot of great of great content and great experiences. But I'm not here to talk about battlefield... We're here to talk about Battlefront.
First of all the Server connection... Oh God... How horrible they are. I cant count the number of times where i take a good chunk of my game session to actually find a game, then to my luck or server location, only to find that yet again I have a bad connection (and keep in mind. I have a cable connection direct to my modem.)
Also the lack of content... I could go on for hours on how minimal the content in this game is. Instead of a good single player campaign or any campaign for that matter they replaced it with some sort of training mode along side the survival mode, which keep in mind. you have to play with a friend or by yourself.
There was SO SO much potential with this game, and i find it sad that EA had to ruin it... DICE, keep up the good work... EA... Go **** yourself

The way the game looks, sounds, and runs is just beautiful. Battles go on at a smooth 60fps every time. But to be really honest with you all, that is the ONLY great thing the game has going for it.

The provided game modes feel fun during the first 2 hours of playing the game, but over time they just get boring. The Heroes Vs. Villains mode's main problem is that the entire game only provides you with 6 characters from each side: Rebels and Imperials. The people voicing the Hero and Villain characters? Pathetic imitations of the original actors. The only guys doing a good job are the guys voicing Han Solo and Luke.

Every battle just feels COMPLETELY simplified. A massive step backward from what Battlefront 2 achieved so many years ago. How simplified is it? To hop into an AT-ST or Snowspeeder, you need to find a little token located somewhere in the middle of the level. Same way goes for playing as Heroes and Villains during normal battles. There's also no more space battles. Once again, LACK of content.

The whole "Emote" system is completely useless. You'll probably only use them once or twice, and that's it. Customizing your own soldier is also a complete joke. You're only provided preset faces, and that's it.

I find it sad and infuriating how EA is just pushing all these games to come out and be sold to the public audience, without even thinking about wether or not the game feels like a polished and finished product. And the fact that they think selling us DLC or Season Passes can fix all the "lack of content" problems, infuriates me even more. The game looks drop-dead gorgeous, yes, but that's just it. No single player campaigns, a lack of fun and exciting multiplayer modes, and an extremely INSULTING price tag, makes this game a complete waste of hard earned money.

Normally I would be ok with people having their on views on a game, good or bad. But this time, I really want to urge EVERYONE reading this review: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. This is NOT the Battlefront 3 anyone has expected to play, and it is NOT worth $60 to get.

I got this for my birthday. I was waiting all year to play this game. After I played the game for the first 3 hours, I kid you not, I dropped tears. I was expecting true BF3, not a simplified turd built for casuals.

To Electronic Arts: How dare you? You should be absolutely ASHAMED of yourselves. Releasing this piece of turd and naming it "Star Wars: Battlefront EA" makes me feel sick of calling you a game company. What ever happened to "Challenge Everything", eh?! Now, all you do is make the same old sports game every damn year, with the only difference being the added roster, and the game title! That's no challenge! Battlefield is a WONDERFUL game franchise, yet you constantly annoy us gamers with pre-order bonuses and paid DLC, all for the sake of more cash! When you and DICE first announced that you guys were going to release the new Battlefront, I was excited. "These are the guys behind Battlefield," I said. Immediately, I thought that you guys would make something like Battlefield, but with a Star Wars re-skin. Jump-in and Jump-out vehicles, Large scale battle locations, and absolute environmental destruction. What I got for my birthday was something WAAAAAYYY below Battlefield's standards! GOD DAMN YOU, ELECTRONIC ARTS. You are a DISGUSTING example of a game company, and I hope that this "reign of wealth and power" you're having right now ends VERY soon. I will never support you anymore, EA. You are filthy, greedy, and a complete embarrassment to the gaming industry. You, Activision & Konami are currently VERY high on my hate list. If you were a dead buried man, not only would I spit on your grave. I would spit, puke, and defecate on your grave, just to show how much of a FILTHY company you are.
Once again, GOD DAMN YOU ELECTRONIC ARTS.

EA have sold less than half a game at full price then want that amount again for you to have anything close to a full one, so suck it EA, way to ruin one of the most anticipated moments in next gen history.

What did we all love about battlefront 1 and 2? (TEN YEARS AGO!) the ability to command a few troops to batter some rebels? or to navigate a huge map like geonosis and having to tactically choose spawn locations? having ENOUGH space to fly my fighters? being able to play as clones and droids? And of course having an awesome campaign where you take over the galaxy and destroy all in your path?...this is what we loved, but what EA heard was:
'how about scrap ALL of that, make the maps tiny, vehicles pointless, ditch that story mode, and sh*t all over the expectations of eager fans after a decade of waiting/hoping for us to make this thing great, and then sh*t on them again by making half the game a stupidly priced DLC!'

This game is the biggest waste in gaming potential of the past few years and a fine example of the corporate greed coming to dominate the industry .

The Star Wars wave was peaking, so they grabbed their boogie boards and enjoyed the ride.

You can't create or join clans. You can't communicate using mics. Once you reach rank 50, you're done. Character customization is extremely limited. Vehicle controls are elementary at best. All weapons are created equal, just different fire rates and ranges. Once the Star Wars novelty wears off, you'll realize you're doing nothing more than playing a sub par game that feels rushed in order to beat the release of The Force Awakens.

Yea this isnt that, not even close. and if i had got this while it was half price i would of most likely punished myself in some of the most creatives ways.... this i wont go into, but to give you a lowdown of the pros and cons.

    Pros.
Its Star Wars... pretty self explanatory really
A lot of game modes - ranges from normal TDM to objective based modes.
Hero feature is fun, although i cant help think this will role into a "pay for different heroes" in the future.
Has the base Battlefield feel to maneuvering weapon selection.

    Cons.

No VOIP or anyway to communicate to your team other then pointless emotes. when your playing with anohter 19 players you want to be able to call that absolute crank on your team..well an absolute crank! very frustrating.
If you are lucky enough to have a friend, dont get to happy about the partner system because halfway through the round battlefront will decide your partner, the only other person in you PSN party isn't sufficient, at which point it will give you some random partner, who due to Con 1 you cant communicate with.
Fighter Squadron - what an idea, Tie Fighters Vs X Wings.....sounds cool right? it is, if your the x WIng or A Wing, this mode is ridiculously imbalanced, and i dont use ridiculously lightly, if your losing games as the rebels you probally shouldnt be playing games full stop.
Appearance-- Well, if your a rebel and your playing in the Endor map, worry not your pretty much invisible, vice versa if your imperial on a snow map, blend right into well everything.
Latency - Well i have had 0 issues with any other game online, including The Diversion Beta - worked fine, Battlefront thoo.. Jesus server are a joke!
Download v Disc - i have the game installed directly to the PS4 hard drive, my friend was silly enough to buy it full price as a disc, turns out if you spent the extra £30.00 on the disc your game loads twice as fast, with baffles me.

All in all its a broken game, the audacity that they are already pushing expansions on a product they rushed out to coincide with the mass marketing of The Force Awakens. such a shame.

But how is it possible that after all these years since they came out that the game has got worse?!

New developer is the main reason behind this. They have even just said in an interview that the reason a single player campaign wasn't included was to release the game out with the Force Awakens film. That statement pretty much sums up the whole game, extremely rushed. Why?

Well firstly there's no single player campaign as previously stated. Why is this a bad thing? Well for someone like me who doesn't really get that much chance to play games due to studying and work etc I want to play games for fun, which means doing my own thing and working at my own pace. I don't want to have to play against people who have 2 weeks gametime knowing all the best routes and weapons and tactics, it's just not fun!

Secondly, there's no Clone Wars at all!! I know some people weren't a fan of the Prequel films which is fair enough, each to their own. But the large majority of them people still want it in the game! The Clone WARS era was a period of time where battles took place on a regular basis so it makes no sense at all why it's not in the game! I for one really liked the Prequels, and I definitely will not be picking up the sequel to EA's battlefront if they do not add this in.

Thirdly, no space battles! The game is based around STAR Wars and has no map, gamemode or even a single image of space!!! That's absolutely shambolic for a film based around space! Three of the games that came out previously years and years ago had space battles! Even ground to space battles in the PSP version! How can they not have this in the game??

I could keep going on forever and ever as there are so many reasons as to why this is such a poor game like the fact that pre-DLC release there were 4 planets....4 PLANETS!!! Where the game is based on a film with space travel!! In the originals alone we had Tatooine, Yavin 4, Bespin, Dagobah, Endor, Hoth, we can even have Alderaan, I'm sure the developers could have some imagination, the Death Star and I can't think of any others off the top of my head. But it's just poor.

I will not be buying the next game in the franchise unless they include Clone Wars content and some sort of Single Player aspect which is better than the stuff they have there at the moment, not too much to ask for considering the original battefront games 10 years ago could manage it.

holy lack of content. A single player campaign, a couple more heroes, and maybe having some of that dlc content for free, would have made this game decent. But it's not. After playing more than four hours I am finished with this game. It is boring, boring, boring. Game modes all feel the exact same, Walker Assault maps are horribly unbalanced to the point where the Rebel's easily have a 95% win rate on Endor, the lack of server browser is appalling, which makes getting into games a headache, and vehicles and heroes spawning in the exact same locations makes players just camp them. I can't tell you how many 60-5 games I've had just sitting on AT-AT and AT-ST spawns, and there's nothing the enemies can do about it.

    Do NOT buy this game.

No content. If they worked on it for another year, added more planets/maps, added more heroes, allowed you to fly upside down for more than 2 seconds, let you steer your snowspeeder while it's taking down a walker, and made it so your lightsaber can actually cut people while it's coming back to you then... yeah. THEN I would have spent 60 dollars on it.

EA once again shamefully exploiting the market. Seriously?! For a full priced game there is nothing to it. I've played iPhone apps with more content than this. Unless you are ADHD, you'll get bored with this after 5 mins. Giving this a zero to counter the ridiculous 10 scores. No way this game deserves more than 4.

Terribly casual in every way. Obvious cash grab the like of which Destiny wish it could have been. Also more casual than Call of Duty could ever hope to be. Looks pretty, sounds good, but the overall gameplay is absolutely boring unless playing with friends.

It's EA and a cash grab as usual. But hey, at least they proved you CAN polish a turd. After the disaster that was the BF4 launch, you'd think they would learn. I mean my BF 4 didn't have a campaign either. After my game save being corrupted a million times, I never technically got a campaign with BF 4. EA, I hope you go out of business you greedy b******s.

The graphics are good but as usual EA boned everyone with releasing a game with no content and having a ridiculously expensive season pass (This season pass BS needs to go). The game feels and plays like battlefield but with star wars skins on everything. Leads me to believe if battlefield was MOD friendly a clever developer could easily made this game with a MOD.

A game that came out tens years ago blows this out of the water. What does it say about this $60 game? There are two or three vehicles no distinct classes like the original Battlefront. Atleast call it star wars battle field and even then its still a terrible game in comparison and in general for the price of $60.

This new policy consists on raising the price of a game to 110-120 bucks, by splitting its content into different parts and selling the first one AT FULL PRICE; and the rest will be paid via downloadable content. This is, in my opinion, an insult to the sensible customer.

Customers should avoid buying this, if they do not agree with this kind of policy. Just like Microsoft took a step back with the prohibition of 2nd hand games when they saw the huge rejection of the public, game developers and publishers could do the same.

To sum up: The game has absolutely no content. Regardless of how many DLCs are released for this game, the original price is not worth paying at all, for what it has to offer. We are again victims of the hype.

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.
