Nice game mechanics and graphics, but game content is missing.
I really miss more co-op missions.
    Price-performance ratio is bad.
    I regret the money.

Beautiful game but that doesn't mean it is a masterpiece. Lack of content is keeping this game from being a serious long-term multiplayer experience. Gameplay: Played EA Access over the weekend for 10 hours and 2 issues. That netcode again and spawns are worse than battlefield. I have literally spawned in front of the enemy and spawn trapping can be done. The spawns will be a major complaint in the coming weeks along with hit detection. Just your typical EA/DICE multiplayer game.

Verdict: Rent before you buy or wait a month as EA usually cuts the price in half. Then you can snag it. If you do buy towards the full price, try buying used from gamestop. You get 7 days to return any used game at gamestop if you do not like it. No questions asked. There is always gamefly where you can set the 1 month free trial and try BF for free also.

3/10 is my final score. You will get bored quickly. If you don't believe me then by all means try one of the ways I mentioned above and save as much of your hard earned cash as possible.

Pretty game, but utterly boring. Nothing like the original battlefront games. Matches are smaller, maps are smaller, vehicles are power ups rather than strewn about, hide for health is a boring mechanic, no space battles. Did enjoy the implementation of the heroes this time, but I am glad I played at a friends rather than forked out the cash myself. Disappointing step backwards for the series.

I knew this would happen the moment it was announced that EA would be releasing a Battlefield game.

The positives (which are very few) are that the game looks beautiful and a credit to Dice and their ability to make such photo realistic games and have managed to replicate the atmosphere of the Star Wars Universe from look to sounds, all of it is amazing and makes what I am about to say even more hurtful...

Negatives (which there are many), limited maps, very limited characters, limited game modes, Season Pass (that costs as much as the game itself) that does not tell you what you will actually be getting!

The controls of the fighters are terrible and not having any space battles in a star wars battlefront game is practically sacrilege!

Its these types of business practices that earn EA a ton of money but also the scorn and hate of every gamer.

I get that EA needed to get Battlefront out of the door in time for the the force awaken's but releasing a game in such a limited state only hurts the franchise as a whole but we all know that EA will have made a solid chunk of cash from all the kids wanting to play a Star Wars game after seeing the movie.

Well done EA for taking advantage of children and shame on you for putting out such a limited game!

It has very little customization and what it does have is stupid, very few of the weapons are actually useful (again it has very little of them), which all makes the game modes seem bland. It would have been AMAZING if they had a single player campaign as well given the graphics but there is no sign that was even an idea they had.

This game feels incomplete and has very little resemblance to the original battlefronts. I only hope the DLC can fix some of this but I doubt it.

I actually like the older version of this game better you know Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2 when it was on the PS2 but I guess I'll just chalk this one up as being another game that fell victim to EA trying to change an already good game into something new and fail

I mean it's not all bad but I compared to the older ones in the series this one tried to be something else and failed at it.

No campaign the missions are entirely lack luster. The environment while beautiful does not really add to the game (don't plan on using the environment for cover). There is no dedicated chat system which makes coordinating in some of the game modes near impossible in pick up matches. Ariel combat is pretty lack luster. The leveling and economy system do not feel rewarding. For a $60 game and a $50 season pass for the "promise" of more content it is unacceptable. The game wasn't finished. If it wasn't for the Star Wars skin there would be no value to the game. It simply doesn't hold up to the likes of Battlefront or Call of Duty.

Too few maps, too little content, minimal single player content that barely exists to justify being there. Vast majority of multiplayer is one sided in favor of the Rebels, with exception to Walker Assault on Hoth which, despite tweaks, is still lopsided towards the Empire. One sided battles are extremely evident in Fighter Squadron, where Rebels win in absolute blowouts 9 times out of 10 regardless of location, thanks to their click-and-forget shields that double their health and have no adequate counter by the TIE's evasive maneuvers ability. Most Fighter Squadron matches I've played since release (50+ total games thus far) have had half of the players on the Imperial side quitting mid-match; that should tell you how bad the imbalance is. Hero Battle is the only truly balanced mode, but with 6 heroes on 4 maps, you'll get your fill in one or two matches.

Terrible netcode with horrendous lag and hit detection problems. Player customization is nothing short of a joke; same models for both sides, just one has Stormtrooper armor. Players spawn camping vehicles and not even trying to play the game due to horrible power up item design. Barely worth a rental, certainly not worth a buy, and DEFINITELY not worth dropping an extra $50 on top of the purchase price for a season pass. Wait until the inevitable "Battlefront Definitive Edition" comes out next holiday season with all the DLC and bug fixes... and then wait for it to go on sale.

This was made by the wrong company. This is not Battlefront. The game that was supposed to come out for ps3 and xbox 360 looked 5x better. This is a joke. This is just a standard battlefield skinned shooter.

These missions are boring at best, and mediocre at worst, and they honestly won't hold you for very long. But most people(sadly) don't care about a single-player campaign in this type of game, so how is the multiplayer? Well, the multiplayer is honestly, what's the word, BROKEN. If you go on the servers, expect glitches, overpowered weapons, annoying players, a surprisingly small amount of maps(seriously, there are only 4 REAL maps), and some of the worst customization I have ever seen. Slap on a ton of micro-transactions and a $60 price tag, and you get this failure of game, and I hope that most of these problems are fixed in the already confirmed sequel, but honestly, I doubt it. Another long review about a game that had big potential but EA f*** it up !

If you buy this game just right after launch, it basically means that you buy access into an early access of the game because it is not finished, and EA still dare to ask us 60 bucks for it !
Before launch they already confirmed that they will have 4 DLC's in the future, which are not actual DLC's, but part of the main game they just striped that will be soled separately. Just to milk the gamers of all their money !

They stripped everything that they could, to leave as little as possible so the players don't think they have been cheated, ask 60 bucks for it and sell the rest for even more profit. The game with all DLC's should be game they initially released for 60 bucks, but by that time you already payed easily over $110 ! I feel cheated and makes me never to buy anything again from EA. They basically doubled the price of their games very sneaky and most of the people just fail to see this and just want to complete their collection. It's not a collection ! It's the initial game that's striped down and they sell it back to you piece by piece. Nothing else.

This is very noticeable here in Battlefront ! How you might ask ? Well, here's why.
They say that they have so many planets and locations and modes to choose from to play. Well, that's wrong and overinflated ****

First off, the modes are basically standard for a game like this. One mode that is basically a trademark for this franchise is the walker assault that is not found in any other game. In rest, name a mode from any other game and you'll find it in battlefront. This is actually not a bad thing, but it's not very innovative because the only mode they have extra is basically Supremacy on the move.

And now to planets and locations. For each mode they have a different location, one on each planet. The problem is there are only 4 planets ! the planets are: Endor, Hoth, Sullust and Tattooine !
You will get bored very fast of only those 4 planets and craving for more different locations. They are pleasing to the eye and the graphics are good, even one of the best looking game this year, but it is just not enough to overlook the fact that this is not enough. They have just tried it to hard. The maps are very polished, no visual artifacts or major bugs, but this is to such an extend that they have put way to much time into those 4 planets that it does not matter anymore how polished they are. In the time they polished this 4 planets they could have used it to just add another two planets. This would have been much more worth than to just have 4. It gets very fast, very repetitive, and after just 2 or 3 days of playing i'm forcing myself to enter the game just to play it, just so i won't regret paying 60 buck for this game. I'm literally only playing just to get my money worth out of it until i'm sick playing it. This is not good for a game.

Now, to be fair, for each planet and mode there are different maps. There are about 3 maps for each planet for the different game modes. The problem is that although the map layout is different from one to another, they feel very similar altogether, and this is a bad thing. The most diverse locations are actually the interior of buildings.

We expected certain elements from a Battlefront game, and what we got just isn't enough to recommend to any Star Wars fan. I just tell them to go back to Battlefront 2 cause with that game they will have much more fun than with this one.

And now my biggest complain of this review, would be the fact the it is just a Battlefield game beneath it.
I have Battlefield and all those kind of shooter, and hoped they would not go that path, but they did.

I'm a gamer, but i don't play a lot of shooters. And if i do, i do it for the story or for the fun of it. If it has a 3rd person camera i'm more likely to play it.
But i'm also a very big Star Wars fan, and at each step of my life i had a SW game beside me to play it, from the early 90's.
So the first thing i wanted to do is jump right in a game and play with Darth Vader ... but wait ... whaaaaaat ?

So i can't select my factions, they distribute you to a random faction in each game, but to alternate you from each game. Why ? Just please tell me **** WHY !??? I'm imperial for life and the very first game i enter i'm a rebel scum ?! My first impression was that this was just ridiculous. I know that this was done to keep a balance, but at least give me chance to switch sides if the other team lacks people just like in counter strike ... but no ... i'm forced to play as this team. And don't you dare to leave this game, cause you didn't finish your rebel duties so they'll put you again as a rebel the next game.

Wow, 5000 characters ain't enough for me to say what i want. In the end, don't buy the game. If you did, ask for a refund !

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't let the title fool you; I liked the Prequels. It was merely a reference to the irrational, only partly meritorious hate that they receive.

I'm going to start with the absolute reality. I work for a living. Money is not something that falls out of the sky, and $69.99 plus tax is a significant amount. I charge $75.00 to tune a piano. This disc cost me the amount of an entire job. I was quite eager to get it. I had been looking forward to it. I love Star Wars. It's probably my favorite film series. I'm as immersed in the Expanded Universe as the typical Star Wars fan. That's why this game is so upsetting. If you've played the game, you know full well where I'm going with this: the hour of tutorials, and only about an hour of actual games if you're playing offline, and then having to pay an additional $49.99 if you want the content that really rightly should have come with the initial sticker price (minus the Battle of Jakku, which we'll be getting free: what a surprise!), and then having to pay for the privilege of playing multi-player.

But...I've been reviewing games for awhile on other forums, and I wouldn't be much of a reviewer if I just complained about the most glaring issues without even getting into the game. So, let us begin.

I bought Battlefront when I got my PS4. Fortunately, I bought the PS4 with the Disney Infinity 3.0 bundle, so I actually wound up paying the same but got a couple more games out of the deal (yes, that's how the math came out...I don't know what genius came up with that sales gimmick). So, I got it home, didn't have enough lines to hook up my PS4 to the internet, was too lazy to unplug my computer so I could enjoy online PS4 gameplay for awhile, so I just settled for the offline content for the time being.

STORY: 1/10 There is no story. You are literally replaying battles from the Original Trilogy, and one that wasn't seen, but alluded to, without the story. They are the battles of Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, and Sullust. Yep, that's all. You can go through them in tutorials, mission mode, or survival mode. It also comes with a screensaver that features C-3PO and R2-D2 arguing with each other.

GRAPHICS: 10/10The visuals in this game are absolutely stunning. Seriously, I wonder why the CGI in movies look so lousy when we have video games that look like this. Seriously, you could stare at these scenes for hours.

GAMEPLAY (PART 1: OFFLINE): 4/10 The tutorials are a good place to start as they teach you the different styles of gameplay and the controls. You can play either ground missions or starfighter missions. The ground missions are typical of first person shooters such as Call of Duty or Fallout. The aerial missions are also disappointingly common as well, with controls similar to just about any flight simulator. The system is straightforward: kill as many enemies as you can while dying and respawning a ridiculous amount of times. It's a style of gameplay conducive to multiplayer, but I've never really enjoyed it as it just feels like losing over and over again, even when the game says you won. It's very difficult to aim in ground missions, and I understand that the lack of an autolock is for realism, but at the very least, they could incorporate some kind of system to assist with aiming. It's not this hard to aim and shoot in real life, and it's an exceedingly frustrating system. You can focus on a target with L2, but this still isn't an autolock, so it doesn't lock; it just tightens controls so that your sights don't jump all over the place when trying to aim.

Aerial controls are another matter. L2 does act as an autolock, but an extremely tight one. If an enemy ship even slightly gets out of your sights, the autolock will break. It's still a very good autolock, and using it improves the game tremendously. Not using the autolock makes it virtually impossible to hit the target. Also, you have to hold down the L2 to use it, so your hand motions on the controller are extremely limited (not that it's a detriment, considering how limited your maneuverability is). Also, you have to maintain the lock when firing missiles until they hit their target (which isn't how missiles work in any reality). Dogfighting is very cumbersome.

The speeder bikes on Endor: piloting a Star Wars speeder bike is a fun thing to do in video games. It's a really hard aspect of gameplay to mess up, but somehow, Battlefront manages it. In the extremely overrated quest for realism, this aspect is an EPIC PHAIL. It's true that that the ground assault and aerial missions have controls that aren't stellar, but they're okay, which is just fine for merchandising gimmick game, even one as beautiful as this, but the speeder bikes in this game are simply a terrible experience, and it's all because of the high level of ultra-realism that this game employs.

Let me see if I can make this point: NOTHING KILLS A GAME LIKE ULTRA-REALISM!

Now, there are those that argue that ultra-realism is the best gaming goal. No, it's not. Sorry, but it just isn't. First, let's start with the obvious point: if we wanted realism, we wouldn't be playing video games. Next: games are supposed to be enjoyed. Even frustration and stress can be enjoyable to a certain degree, but when that's all there is, it stops being fun. How do we know it's not fun? Simple: I'm writing a review on Star Wars: Battlefront instead of playing it. Do you see what's going on here? If it were fun, I'd be playing it.

So, what's wrong with the speeders? Nothing, except that you are just going to die. If you manage to get your speed up, there is no thrill like in other games. You explode, die and respawn the second you hit something. Why was it made like this? Because life bars and hit points aren't realistic. So, if anything you touch kills you, unless you're going really slow, then whatever you hit just doesn't kill you as quickly. If you want to know who did speeders well, go back to N64 Shadows of the Empire. The controls and game play in the swoop level were pretty much like they are in this game: you even die the second you hit a rock wall. The difference? You don't die the instant you hit another swoop, and it's actually not as ridiculously easy to wreck as it is in Battlefront, and it's still pretty easy to wreck. That was my favorite level in that game. I played it over and over again. Battlefront actually made me hate speeders. This was terrible. Whoever designed the gameplay for the speeders should have been made to redo it. You know, patches have become a crutch and they've become an excuse to release a crappy game. If there is a patch that fixes the abysmal control on the Battlefront speeders, that's exactly what I am going to think: they were just more concerned with making a deadline than making a good game.

So, playing ever single mission, and survival mode after the tutorial, it took me two hours to finish the offline content. All of it. I played the entire offline game that I paid 70 dollars for in 2 hours. Every mission. I suppose I could go back and play the Dark Side, but that would only give me another hour of gameplay. 70 dollars of this. Oh, and sometime this month, we're supposed to get the Battle of Jakku for free. That'll be another 20 minutes per side of the Force. That's all you get for 70 dollars. Want more? Well, more is coming, but you have to pay for it. I got 100 hours of content in Metal Gear Solid 4 for 50 dollars, and I couldn't even get a 3 hour Star Wars game for 70. No, you do not get to play multiplayer for 70 dollars; you still have to pay for that, but that may be more on Playstation than EA, but you still can't play the multiplayer unless you pay the monthly fee for Playstation Plus. If you're not willing to do that, you're SOL. You could pony up the 50 dollars for a yearly sub, but why? Why can't I just play the damned game? Why can't I just get what I've already paid for?

GAMEPLAY (PART 2: ONLINE): 6/10 This is where the game is. There isn't much more in the way of content. There's a few more missions, but nothing truly remarkable. Everything is played against other players in versus combat. There's Droid Run, which is a King of the Hill style game in which you capture three droids before the opposing team does. There's Fighter Squadron, which is exactly what it sounds like, and my personal favorite (but that's only because the ground missions are so damned hard, again because realism). There's Walker Assault, which is the Battle of Hoth...again...this time with people other than you and the AI. There's Hero Hunt where you get to play all by yourself against everyone! And they're trying to kill you! And they're not trying to kill each other! Fun! Everything else is just variations on war: defend the cargo while stealing the other guy's cargo. Capture enemy supply drops. Or Supremacy, where you have to drive the enemy away (In other words, kill more of them.), or Blast, which is basically the same thing.

What these missions offer are credits and ranks that you can unlock new items and abilities with. You have very little choice in your in game appearance. You have to win the privilege to change your in game appearance. This helps to make the game fun. Also, you have enemy players that are obviously going to be better than you. The gameplay here in multiplayer is about the same, but it's much more fun than in singleplayer mode. You also begin to really see the limitations. Your ships can't do barrel rolls or loops unless you press the D-Pad, and you only get three special aerial moves. The down button on the D-Pad changes you from external view to cockpit view. In my opinion, this only makes the aerial combat more fun as instead of having maneuvers handed to you, you have to be creative.

I only wish the ground battles were as enjoyable, and the fact these missions feel more like a chore cannot possibly be more apparent in the fact that far fewer people seem to play them than the fighter missions, and it seems that there are a lot more awards and bonuses for playing the ground missions, or maybe I'm only seeing them listed since I don't get a list of bonuses for the aerial missions, but I still get them. That's telling. The fact that they display the fact that there a bonuses for the ground missions but don't make bonuses for the aerial missions apparent tells me that they know the ground missions are poorly done. It's very hard to kill and it's very easy to be killed.

On the plus side, in the Hero vs. Villain game, you get the opportunity to play as one of three main characters on each side. If you're not a troop from the start, you either get to play as Luke, Leia, or Han, or if you're on the Dark Side, Darth Vader, The Emperor, or Boba Fett. In one game, I played as Darth Vader and actually got into an epic lightsaber duel with Luke (I lost)...on top of the Millennium Falcon!!! I wish I recorded that! That was awesome! But, ahem...whatever awesomeness there is to be had in these ground missions doesn't redeem their overall tediousness. It's impossible to aim decently, even at close range, and any attempt to aim will surely get you killed. Good cover appears to be all over the place, but it's surprisingly useless. The levels are so open, no areas are defensible, and because of this, using cover is really pointless because there's no way to form a line and keep enemies from sneaking up behind you. So it really is, "die over and over again until the match is over", and that is a really depressing and unenjoyable style of gameplay.

The aerial battles are really the only missions that are really, truly fun, but there's only two, one that takes place in the four different settings the game comes with and Walker Assault, which is the Battle of Hoth.

MUSIC: All Star Wars stock music, a lot of it unrecognizable entries from other video games and audio books. Very high quality recordings that are quite nicely added to appropriate settings and situations.

REPLAYABILITY: 2/10 None for the singleplayer mode. This game gets very boring, very quickly. It's only marginally better in the multiplayer mode as each mission quickly becomes the same thing over and over again. The real fun is in fighting against other players that have managed to annoy you so much that you have got to get them just once. Sadly, this game is extremely overpriced. For aerial battles, you only get two missions, one set in three of the four settings (no aerial battles over Endor, so no, you will not be blowing up the Death Star II). You also only get 6 ground missions, each of them only in the four settings. The fact of the matter is, you only get a few hours of gameplay, each with goals that don't really interest you. Trust me: this is not the type of game you have to win before you're done.

All this game has to offer is fighting the same battles over and over again. There's nothing at stake. There's no ending to justify winning. You just fight the enemy until the mission is over and you either win or lose, and if it's multiplayer mode, you slowly get credits to get barely two or three dozen available upgrades that you can't even buy until you have achieved a high enough rank, and these upgrades aren't even that good. There are no upgrades for the fighter ships, and what you get for your ground missions are blasters that are weaker than what you're already using or are only good for certain conditions that aren't going to come up that often. You can get a thermal detonator or a grenade, and those are good, but upgrades include a function that for a brief time makes it possible to more easily aim your gun, just for example. There's nothing really worth it. The only thing you get are different appearances, and they are basically just a variety of the same dozen humans with a few different hairstyles. You have to put in dozens of hours of gameplay before you'll be allowed to play an alien (the highest being a Twi'lek at Rank 50). Think about it: days and days of playing the same missions over and over and over and over again just to be able to make your in game appearance as customizable as the game will allow. There are only a dozen or so blasters available, with the most useful one being available at Rank 4.

The graphics cannot redeem this game, and their score is negated by the shortcomings. Because of paying for multiplay and having to pay for additional content, I can't even recommend this game at bargain prices, and even if that wasn't an issue, the typical bargain price of 15 to 20 dollars is still quite high. This is the true 5 dollar bin game.

It sucks that I spent $60 on this game. On the bright side, I can go onto Ebay and sell it for $55. Out of all the games I have played and read the reviews on, Star Wars Battlefront has the most honest NEGATIVE reviews I seen.

If DICE had just made this gorgeous game a skin for Battlefield 4 it would have been great.

Primarily, I think the lack of spawn point selection ruins Battlefront. The game might spawn you out in the middle of a field, or inside some tight corridor, but you'll have no idea until after you've selected your weapons, making even the minimal loudout ("hand") choices offered almost useless.

I've always loved the vehicles in Battlefield, where you can grab a tank, boat, or plane almost whenever you want. But with the Battlefront "powerup" system, you'll be lucky to see the inside of an AT-AT or AT-ST if you play Conquest/Supremacy mode for the whole weekend.

The game is also very disorienting, as you rarely know where the bad guys are. Spawn points flip around during the round, so half of them are in front of you and half behind you, and often, they'll start spawning all around you. There's rarely a clear "front line" for more than a short time.

The game doesn't balance teams well either. I've been stuck in 12 on 4 a number of times. I also added my friend in a party as a "partner" (still lamenting the lack of squads), and actually had it fail to make us partners when we joined a server.

Overall, this game is just run and gun chaos which gets boring quickly, and has none of the tactical play, weapon classes, or vehicles of Battlefield, a game which I returned to playing after a couple weeks of frustration in Battlefront.

So when I heard they were making a new Battlefront, I was beyond thrilled. I knew they couldn't possibly mess it up because at the very least, all they had to do was give battlefront 2 new graphics and I would love it (obviously I expected more).

    They messed it up...

It's incredibly depressing to say that they gutted all the variety and ingenuity that made the original battlefronts so unique. What is left is a game with little variety, and lacking in content.

To start, there are no classes anymore. This would be alright if the blasters weren't so similar. There are currently 11 primary blaster, and many feel very similar. The main modes, walker assault and supremacy only have 5 maps. There is only empire era (episode 4-6). The new space battles take out all the things that made the space battles of battlefront II so great, to the point where it's not even worth playing them at all. The vehicles are very limited and rarely add much to a battle. Just, nothing feels unique anymore and is lacking any variety. Battlefront II, a game that came out 10 YEARS AGO, should not be the game with this much more variety and content. I could go on for hours comparing everything in this game and how battlefront II did it better, but it would take too much time to come full circle to what I have already said, the original battlefronts were better. What's even worse is EA/DICE already have announced their DLC WHICH COSTS 50$!?!?!?! If in some fantasy world, these DLC make the game an actual full game, that means I would be paying 110$. That's an atrocity.

The ONLY thing I can say about this game is that it has some of the best graphics I have ever seen. This might be the most visually impressive game ever created.

Overall, the new battlefront is incredibly depressing and not worth 60$. It's probably not even worth 30$ in its current state. Those who haven't played the, far superior, predecessors, you may get a solid 5 hours of enjoyment out of this. For those, like me, who have logged countless hours into the old games, you will most likely find yourself incredibly disappointed and probably a little dirty knowing you paid full price for this shell of a game

Not here, it's a just a chaotic shooter with Star wars sounds. We played the open beta thinking this was a taste of a much larger game. No, that was it. We all paid A grade price for one third of a game. The weapons are not configurable, you cannot form squads. There is nothing to do with space in this edition of Battlefront. DICE even invested time in creating a "diorama" feature to demonstrate skill but grants you nothing but a 3d model to look at. No perks, no benefits, no new weapons upon achieving said mastery. You can play as a hero, which is extremely over-weighted in the game, and have seen players get 96-0 K/D which doesn't sound like balanced game play to me. All the guns shoot very similar and in most cases can behave like sniper rifles but with different damage ratings at longer ranges. What's most offensive is that EA expect you to pay for a season pass that is the same price of a whole new game and all we get are duplicated maps, and no new mechanics. We got 17 maps in 2005 and a good range of vehicles. Finally the vehicles are pretty limited for rebels, and the empire has the classic AT-ST and AT-AT walkers. The rebels get speeder bikes which by the way are virtually un-usable except for straight line transport. EA really botched it. Ironically the companies who have nothing to do with Star Wars made a game that was nothing short of an insult to Battlefront fans. Had EA properly consulted with LucasArts and built Battlefront with the players in mind (and not just profits) they could have produced a game that would have eclipsed them all. But it was not to be... My advice, AVOID there is better out there for you... Expand

Enjoyable at first then boring. Can't believe you have to pay to play the full story modes. I did the 48trial and as its all online I quickly got bored.
Very disappointed. Disgusting that you have to pay further too.

    2. Lacking in Single Player content. Not much you can do with Single player. Repetitive. You don't even have the 40+ AI big battles like you do with the previous games.

    3. Only 5 planets(maps). Really? Even SWBF 1 has 15+

    4. No prequels. It's fun to play as clonetroopers/battledroids. Of course, maps too.

    5. No classes. In SWBF1, you can play as scout troop, rebel pilot... Here, just infantry.

    6. No vehicles. Seriouly. What? Unless you play specific modes, otherwise, the regular battle is just on foot. Even SWBF1, you can hop on ATSTs, X-wings, speeders... in just regular maps! And no Tauntauns in Hoth?

    7. Less heroes. Only 6? 10+ heroes in SWBF2. The controls are better too.

    8. No 3rd army. In SWBF1, you have Ewoks, Gungans, Wookies, Jawas, Sandpeople... Even Rancor!

    9. No 40+ AI game modes.

    10. No Command posts. I think that's just a good game mode, should have included it.

    11. The higher ground. You will be begging for the jetpack to recharge constantly. You jump, you fall back down. So bloody annoying. Then, you wait for probably 30 seconds before you can try again.

    12. My matching sucks **** The server is dead, only 5% for the Jakku map? Only 20% for the regular battles. I want to play a full room with 40+ players. My experience anyway.

Not to mention, overly overpriced. I mean, come on... Is that all you can offer. Here are the good sides though.

    1. Awesome graphics. 10/10. Spectacular. Amazing.

    2. Great sound effects. The voice acting is a bit weird. Han Solo says Things I can do for that princess. So cheesy... Damn.

    3. Air battles are cool, but no space battles. I think the targeting system is a splendid idea, but the controls are not as great.

    4. Multiplayers are good. Walker Assault mode, Supremacy mode... Why not have them in the Single Player?

    5. Sweet cutscenes. But what happened to the story????

All I can think of. So how can it possibly get 7+? Either because you are not honest! Or you have not played the previous games. Play them and then you will realised how lazy this one is.

I mean if you want to be lazy, you might as well just re-skin SWBF2, so at least we get the great gameplay with better graphics. Simple as that. Then add the Ep 7 stuff as DLC.

If you want a game with a campaign, I do NOT recommend it because it doesn't have one! EA is charging so much! If it wasn't for its immersive and beautiful graphics, I would rate this game a 2. Strip that away and what's left. A below average sci-fi shooter that is weighted heavily towards the online multiplayer and offers next to nothing for the casual, single player market. I won't say this is poor value for money as that is a subjective matter for each individual. There is about one to two hour's play offline before the repetition kicks in. Online the game appears to offer no depth for the experienced FPS player and the chaotic nature, possibly as a result of the simplified controls and aiming, makes for a very short and annoying experience for the casual gamer. It's not long before the novelty of the stunning graphics wear off and I am left with the harsh reality and realisation that I bought this game because it's Star Wars and not because it's a good game...It's not a good game... It's really not a very good game at all... My advice, if the lure of Star Wars is too much then buy a physical copy, you may want to trade it in. Expand

The graphics are simply amazing, super detail to the environment (when you have time to look at it when your not being shot at), the lighting effects from the sky to the guns. The sand and snow levels were awesome. the storm troopers to the rebels and their vehicles was really good. On to sound now its great, nothing new but standard John Williams. The gun sound effects are beautiful just like the films and the voice acting are pretty good apart from Han solo.
The cons... well everything else, the gameplay is way too casual and generic at best (point and shoot). No space battles and its called "STAR WARS".There is no strategy behind it and i don,t know why its called battlefront because your not at the front of the battle, there is rarely a battle where both sides collide together in a battlefront, most of the time your on your own shooting people in the back while there shooting others in the back and you get killed the same way too. The respawns are terrible i mean come on, when you die (which happens a lot) you can respawn at the beginning of the map and take like 2 minutes to back up into the fighting area just to get killed again or you could be respawned behind enemy lines where you will either instantly die or shoot loads of them in the back(oh by the way love the snipers, campers and trolls... that takes real skill) . By the way the pick up cards are rubbish especially the vehicle ones, the second you get in a vehicle everyone targets you so you don't get to play with them much, the at-at walker is on rails!, the speeder bike is useless and the flying craft all pretty much feel the same. This should not be called battlefront it should be called star wars arena. there is zero single player campaign which not just me but lots of others wanted. the best you get is the tutorials which last up to an hour and get to see what it would be like to have a single player story and then whack! door slam to the face, there is no more single player unless you count the "battles" they are terrible! its like the multiplayer battles except your with up to 4 a.i (which they are not there dumb) and the maps are tiny i mean its like running around the park with your friends at 8 years old with lasers except that's more fun, just ugh!. the multiplayer maps are shockingly small for a multiplayer based game unless you count the 39.99 pounds season pass (just bike it E.A into the pit of despair from whence you came), this is just stinging the fans if ever i saw it. E.A are evil they give you nice looking games and misleading and false trailers and pretty much every game they make is 54.99 pounds(that's the standard edition! deluxe is 69.99! whereas the ultimate with the season pass is 104.98 pounds!!! just NO!) this has got to be one of the most controversial games ever. so many people love it and i get it its star wars. You first play it and its like cool i'm in a star wars movie but after an hour or 2 it wore off. I've spent about 2 dozen hours playing all the modes and i've had my fill with no need to ever revisit. its practically a bad game or rather just a huge disappointment. i f you gonna buy wait for it to go on offer online (which trust me i've seen it on offer in the psn store about half a dozen times) or buy from your local game store they have tons of them on shelf... i wonder why?. DO NOT buy the season pass or the deluxe edition(because the deluxe edition content you can earn in the game for free apart from 2 exclusive emotes! wow! great deal! and the season pass if you buy it then your saying to dice and E.A here take my money for content that should be in the game upon release) its half a game on release and it will never be a complete game with the dlc. one last thing do not pre order E.A games i and many others have been stung by them before many times. Its going to be hard to resist pre ordering mass effect Andromeda though. thanks for reading my first ever review :-)

Overpriced season passes that contain the actual game, shallow modes, and no effort put in. This game isn't bad objectively, but because of how this game left me feeling I decided to put it this low. If you're looking for a good online game get Overwatch and I'm sure there are plenty of other Star Wars games that are complete. Secondary cards are useless with one opportunity. Online is a bigger fail. Lag is an issue, most of my kills get ruined and gives my opponents a upper- hand. Lazy and incomplete. Typical EA cash grab. It looks gorgeous and sounds amazing, but at the end of the day, they knew that with all that fanservice a butt load of Star Wars fans (myself included) would jump right on board. Don't. It's a typical EA "pay $100+ for a season pass and game" to even get something that resembles a solid amount of content.

This game was a massive disappointment on its release. From a lack of everything from single player, to maps, to just overall content, to a rather arcade-y style of combat, this Battlefront was a massive letdown from the originals in the early 2000s.

The gameplay consisted of your standard shoot the other guy/capture points/blow up things then move on game styles you see in nearly every multiplayer game, with the only major addiction being walker assault that is in all honesty just a reversed version of rush from Battlefield.

There isn't any single player campaign, and what single player content there is consists of tutorials and boring survival horde mode style games, and point collection. Later a skirmish mode was added, but the lack of something like "Galactic Conquest" is inexcusable.

The other thing is that the game was just unfinished. It was obviously rushed, and content was also taken out, only to be added as dlc for an extra, at the very least, $50 dollars because of the season pass system that the game has. This lack of maps and variety makes the multiplayer, the thing the entire game is designed around, incredibly boring after only a short time playing it.

The only praise I can give the game is that it is Beautiful. The Graphics look nearly photo realistic and it feels like you are in the famous locations of star wars. The Sound design is also amazing. But these are minor things in a game.

Overall, this game is bad. It lacks content, gets boring quickly, and has nothing that will make you comeback to it after a long period of time.

TL;DR: MASSIVELY overpriced. You only get like 1-2hrs worth of content and the rest is locked in DLC! Another 50$ please!

    Full review:

    GAMEPLAY:
The weapons that both the Imperial and Rebel side are blasters. Since they are more easy to make and don't require alot of thought to them, they're alright-ish. The thing is, there are only 11 weapons and the spread of all the blasters are so damn random that you never really get used to it and that you don't feel like you actually earned a kill, just luck. And what makes me more pissed about it, is that the DL-44 weapon that is at the top is the EXACT SAME model of Han Solo's blaster that you get in the deluxe edition!
Now that's out of the way there are the Heroes and Villains, classic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia on the Heroes side and Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Emperor Palpatine on the Villains side.
If you get one of these Heroes/Villains, you're instantly guaranteed 20-30 kills. Boba Fett is particularly troublesome as he has his Jet pack and can jump around giving the normal players not much of a chance to get shots on him.

Now the game modes, there are like 9 of them, Walker Assault, Supremacy, Blast, Heroes VS Villains, Hero Hunt, Fighter Squadron, Cargo, Droid Run and Drop Zone.

Walker Assault is the most fleshed out and played game mode, the rebels have to take down the AT-AT Walkers while the Imperial defend them. Pretty much that. The rebels have to capture uplinks to spawn in a Y-Wing to make the AT-AT vulnerable to attacks. Other than that small time period of vulnerability, the AT-ATs are virtually indestructible. The Imperials have to shut down the uplinks and escort the AT-ATs from point A to point B. This by far is the most fleshed out game mode there is.

Supremacy is a domination style game mode where Rebels and Imperials fight for five key points in a 40 player clash. There's really nothing special here.

    Blast is just Team deathmatch.

Heroes VS Villains is exactly what it is, three players play as Heroes while three players play as Villains with some other players as ground troops. Kill all the heroes on one side and your team or the opposing team gets a point. By far one of the least played game modes but also the best one.

Hero Hunt is one Hero vs 7 Stormtroopers. The hero will soak up LOTS of damage and it'll take LOTS of time to kill the hero. The stormtrooper who gets the last hit on the hero becomes a hero.

Fighter Squadron is an aerial combat gamemode where Rebels and Imperials clash in the airs. Basically Team deathmatch in the air. Some special vehicles appear, that being Slave-I and the Millennium Falcon.

Cargo is just capture the flag.

Droid Run is an escort mission where the Rebels escort an R2 unit from point A to point B while the Imperials try to stop them.

Drop Zone is like moving domination. Escape pods are crashing from the sky and Rebels and Imperials fight for control over them.

    GRAPHICS AND SOUND

Graphics are absolutely AMAZING. Everything is beautiful, from far and close. Amazing job DICE.
Sound Design also is absolutely AMAZING. Everything sounds authentic, you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe for some time until you snap out of it.

    PROGRESSION

Oh boy. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious. Only 11 weapons and these "Star Cards" Basically cards that give you a weapon, grenade or whatever else. But there are these Trait cards that give an advantage to higher ranked people against newer players. Totally unfair.
The customization? HAHAAAAAHAHAHA!!! Laughable. Totally laughable. You only start unlocking the cool stuff when you're high ranked. Even then it's already laughable compared to other Battlefront games.

    VALUE, DLC, MICRO PAYMENTS

IT'S A TRAP! Do NOT buy this game if you're looking for great value! There is LITERALLY NOTHING that you can do other than unlock accessories and Star Cards. After about 2 hours of game I feel like I already saw it all. There's nothing unique.
"Oh but there is DLC coming!" Don't come to me with that **** If a game company isn't giving the players a good initial value then why bother paying for it. I made a mistake buying this game.

It took away many of aspects which made the previous installment so highly coveted, such as the class system and a truly fun campaign.
In the game's favor, it truly looks and sounds incredible, but I don't feel that this can make up for the lack of overall content. There's too few modes which almost all feel uninspired, only a handful of maps for a game with no real campaign mode, and the weapons are incredibly unbalanced when unlocks compare to default.
The matching system is lacking, spawn camping feels far too common, and the game constantly loads you right into the line of fire of enemy vehicles. These major flaws in the multiplayer mode are all the more frustrating when the single player experience is so hollow. You have a handful of training missions, which weren't all that bad. Then story fights, which are the same first to 100 kills mission over and over again, the hero fights are an utter joke as even on the harder difficulties the life drops are so common the hero character will almost never die (not to mention the lack of heroes to chose from, there's only 6 in the entire game). And survival mode, which seems a touch unfair of how many vehicles the game sends at only a single player.
Overall the game just feels so empty. It seems like so much time was put into graphic quality, somewhere in the process they stopped creating a game. After an hour or two you can experience most of what the game has to offer unless you're going to put hours and hours into online ranking to get a few more guns and the ability to give your character different hairstyles. The massive multiplayer can be fun at times but incredibly frustrating at others, and the payoff at the end feels so minuscule.
If you plan to get this game, maybe wait 3 or 4 years for the price to drop to an appropriate level and hopefully the dlc that got cranked out in the meantime will have improved the game enough to justify purchasing it then. But I cannot imagine any dlc content worth having to pay any more then the already overpriced $60 price tag on the main game.
Overall, 2 out of 10. Break out Battlefront 2 instead and work past the outdated graphics and experience a game done right. And that's only $10 on steam if you don't already own it. Much better deal for a clearly superior game.

The multiplayer mode feels broken, spawn points are ridiculous, there are only eleven guns which all feel the same, no customization at all, repetitive maps which are too few. From the 9 game modes only about 3 of them are appealing. Character customization is a joke. You have to spend in game credits to unlock characters and they really dont offer much until you unlock the last levels if you bother to get that far. Vehicles and fighter jets controls are so basic and you have to walk around the map hunting for pop-ups to activate them rather than going to a que to access them. Worst of all you cant really team up with your friends in a squad. Instead you can be a partner with only one friend, other friends who join cant be in a squad with you so its like your not even playing with them. So much for multiplayer.

I expected that with DICEs involvement starwars battlefront would be built upon further adding alot of the great things we saw in battlefield 3 & 4. Rather this game is a hollow shell of what it could be. Spending 70 dollars on a game so void of content is disappointing to say the least. Maybe its because of the graphics its so expensive, but if thats the case they should have sacrificed visuals for actual content or priced at what its worth, a 30 USD game. Its a shame they can get away with pricing it for so much when it has nothing. Other games of the same price have hoooours of gameplay and content. There is no way im going to fork out another 50USD for additional maps in there DLC. If you want to play an FPS do yourself a favor and buy ANYTHING other than this game.

For starters, there's no campaign mode of any kind. What single player content there is, is nothing more than either horde mode, training, or lackluster bot battles. And online play is just as lackluster, if not downright tedious at the best of times. Unlocks are a joke, and the only worth while cosmetic customizations are only available at max rank, so you have to grind for days just to look a little better than your peers. But that has a drawback because being the only shadow trooper on hoth or tatooine will make you stand out, and look like a nice and juicy target. The only people giving this game anything above a 5 are "professional" critics who were paid to give it a good review, or diehard star wars fans who think that just because it has the words Star Wars on the box, that makes it good. EA can do so much better than this. Do not waste a single penny on this game. If a friend gives it to you, go ahead and play it, but you'll quickly give it back. Expand

Well EA, you've officially killed what spark I had for this new installment to the battlefront series. Now, I know the reviews for this game really are mixed, so I will give the best review I can for those looking to buy the game.

    (Positives)
-Visually, and soundwise, this game is a masterpiece. Putting on headphones and listening to the environment, the battle unfold around you is just amazing.

    -20 v 20. Finally. a real big team battle.

-Feels like you're really in the original trilogy

    (Cons)
-Four maps. They aren't incredibly big, either. Sometimes the spawns are so packed you spawn and die, like a 20 v 20 on Nuketown. It can just be chaos, and frustrating to play.

-"Buy the seasons pass to get the rest of this game" No. I was unimpressed i spent $100 to get this thing. I will not spend another $70 to get another hour or two of gameplay on each DLC,

-NO story mode. None, whatsoever. offline play consists of training (Tutorials) Survival mode (Easy as can be), and this failed multiplayer simulator. I was really hoping to hop on the couch with friends, my girlfriend, etc and be on a team of 18 other AI facing 20 AI. or even 12 v 12, if that hurts the rendering engine. But no. you get a 4v4, where you have to run and pick up the tokens once an AI dies, and you don't get to fight with your friends, just against them. Who on earth thought of that. EA, start to redeem yourself and fire those people.

-No replayability. I've tallied 3 hours, I'll probably never touch this game again. Rent it, borrow it off a friend, but heed my warning, and do not buy it.

-Online based. Like EA does, the servers will eventually go offline due to a new title being released, and it doesn't have the option to buy/manage your own server. Therefore, if you DO decide to put in hours, eventually, you won't be able to access it.

    (IN SHORT)
I gave this game a pity 2/10 just because of the graphics and sound. It's a very basic, very beta FPS, with not a lot of mechanics that hold up to any other FPS, let alone from DICE. You can definitely tell the tyrant that is EA got their claws into the crew, and cracked the whip hard on them. I am posting this to save people the money, and hopefully so EA can read this, like the thousands of others like it, and change the game, because this is exactly what is wrong with the gaming industry now.

The Multiplayer itself lacks any depth, the leveling system is a poor hook to entice you to play more.

As a fan of the Star Wars: Battlefront series loved aspects such as the Campaign story from Battlefront 2.
The 501st story was a brilliant addition to the solid foundation that Battlefront set before it. Conquest mode was an exemplar of what a non-story based game mode should have been.

However if you were looking for even a semblance of these fan favourite game modes within the newest incarnation you will be sorely disappointed.

    Summary:

    + Beautiful Landscapes and Scenery.
+ Entertaining enough until the novelty wears off.

    - Minimal Single Player Content.
    - Shallow Multiplayer Combat.
    - Ridiculous lack of Overall Content.
    - Disgusting focus on DLC.

Substandard is a generous rating, excluding graphics and sound. They got the look and sound of Star Wars down, however that's the only good part of the game. The gameplay is boring and I lose interest in less than 15 minutes. It feels like the developers also got bored and phoned it in. I didn't even touch on the flight controls. The ships are stiff and do not fly right. This game basically controls ships like cars. Push left to move left, right to move right. A proper flight simulator would allow you to roll the craft and pull up to turn sharply. The flying missions were what attracted me to this game, and I was thoroughly dissapointed. I'm glad I got it on sale on PSN, because $10 even seems steep for this game. It's EA, so I guess I should've expected a really shiny and polished turd. Expand

It's not the most complex shooter, but it's the ideal pick-up-and-play experience for Star Wars fans. Stunning environments, solid shooting and immersive sound design mask the shortcomings. [Jan 2016, p.82]

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.

Spectacular production values help to make this game enjoyable in the early going, but it soon enough shows that it is painfully lacking in terms of maps and depth in its current form. [Issue#265, p.72]
