The loot box and "progression system" borders on predatory with how it pushes you towards micro transactions and pay to win elements. Essentially they want you to continue paying ridiculous amounts of money long after you bought the game + potential dlc later along the way.
Even seeing past this extremely customer unfriendly practice there is still the fact that in 2 years they could just turn off the server. So even if you spend 1000 Dollar + they might just be voided in a very short time. Why not allow people to run their own servers? Probably so you can sell them the next game and start the circle anew.

I repeat. DO NOT BUY this game. If you do, you are part of the problem. If you can live with all these negative elements then that is of course your choice, but complaining and then still buying it, will do nothing and effectively damage the game industry overall. You have power as a consumer and as a gamer. The power to say no and stand by it. The power to hopefully change the direction gaming companies like EA are taking and avoid ruining potentially great franchises in the future.

To those who reviewed 10 to bring up the user score, you're one review is getting hammered by massive groups of people who want change in the gaming industry while you guys are completely fine with paying 100+ or 500+ on loot boxes for random loot you might already have to get a feel of satisfaction or a sense of accomplishment by being better than a person who bought just the base game but the truth is, you're not.

Those who support EA and other developers that are doing blatant P2W or charging more for content that should have already been added in the base game is apart of the problem. It's your money and you can use it however you wish but stop acting like paying for more stuff is some sort of accomplishment and its something to be proud of. Let me remind you of what you're getting, virtual items. They don't translate into the real world and that isn't something you can put on your resume.

There was no locked content, no lootbox system, just a game that delivered everything that I paid for from the initial purchase. I want to like DICE’s Battlefront 2, I wanted to like DICE’s Battlefront 1 as well, but it seems apparent that the battlefront series that I initially fell in love with no longer exists. The new progression system is horrible. Even though Micro-transactions have been TEMPORARILY removed, the pay-to-win formula and lack of clear character progression has doomed this game.

Loot boxes were obviously invented by a group of evil monks whose only intention is to drain the soul and any modicum of happiness from all who encounter it. Don't be fooled by their recent Press Release, EA has not fixed the problem until Loot Boxes and Micro-transactions are eliminated for good. Bring back Hutt contracts or some other progression system that does not result in a veiled version of gambling.

If this wasn't a long pre-ordered birthday gift, I would have cancelled my order. Rest assured, I will never, never, never, ever, ever, ever, ever, never, ever, never, never, ever drop another penny into this franchise or any future franchise that attempts to dupe their customers into spending more money to get the full enjoyment out of a game that they have already paid full price for. Did I say never, ever, ever, never, ever, ever, never? Good!

This stewing pile of **** lootbox-fest-game does NOT deserve your money. If you do not have at least $100 bucks to buy those crates, stay FAR AWAY from this game, because you'll have such a disadvantage you'll regret buying it.

We're hitting greed levels that shouldn't even be possible.
This game forced me to put EA in my Book of Grudges.

The first game was a major disappointment. This is a Disgrace. I feel bad for the developers who tried to make this a great game, only to have their work be shredded and tarnished by corporate greed. This game is an insult to the Star Wars name and the gaming community.

EA's Greed is a path to the dark side. Greed leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.

EA tied to shove pay 2 win loot boxes down our throats. They tried to make us have to spend 40 hours to unlock 1 hero character. The "progression system" is still a complete joke. The only reason I'm giving this game a zero is that I can't give a negative rating.

Everything in the story feels rushed and the cutscenes are only there to move you from one fire fight to another. The online is broken, the "grind" is impossible, the star card system is not working, and the lack of any customization is a huge step back. Regardless of the loot box system this game is a step back on all fronts. The online lacks the one thing that would make it worlds better, and that is a sense of accomplishment. If it had a real "grind" in place, and offered real challenges to the player instead of a loot box lottery system then a lot of the bad could be forgiven. This game just fails on all fronts, and only dies one thing right, and that one thing is making the first EA Battlefront look even better. Expand

This isn't a game, it's an illegal gambling system that goes through enough loopholes just to slip past regulations in the U.S. This is ridiculous, and I think that a boycott is in order, and that Congress needs to investigate this matter. Games like Battlefront are literally encouraging kids (and adults) to gamble. Stay far away.

But what EA does continuously, it's unforgivable! Don't buy their games!
My rating goes for EA. Maybe 1/10 is way too generous towards them.

What should be an excellent title, and a game that brings your hours of joy, is completely destroyed by greedy business practices. Just to be fair, I will list some pros for the game.

Graphics and sound are top notch. Gameplay it self is great. Controls feel good, and animation is excellent. Addition of single player, not the best story every but it was fun. Servers for Multiplayer

Servers for Multiplayer seem to run smoothly.

    Cons:

Online progression is entirely restricted to loot boxes, but not only loot boxes, completely random loot boxes. Wanna unlock new weapons or upgrades.... you are left to the mercy of RNG. To top that off, the loot boxes needed to progress, you have to purchase with in-game currency that can be earned or purchased, but the rate that you earn it, leaves you feeling like the game is a constant grind, just to purchase the chance to unlock something useful, which leaves players who can't afford to shell out extra money to a huge disadvantage to those that can easily drop the extra money. Even some games mode limit how much in-game currency you can earn with a cool down of upwards to (as far as i have seen) 5 hours.

Though EA has temporarily disabled the purchase of these crates (which is more just a stall tactic, as to not hurt their holiday sales and appease shareholders) with real money, you are still stuck in an endless grind to progress. in a system that doesn't let you progress at your own play-style. Just stuck with getting whatever randomly is given.

It is a true shame. A game that should captivate the many, many loyal Star Wars fan, and online shooter enthusiasts. Instead tries to take advantage of it's audience,

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
