Wayyyyyyy too short and huge grind. The story is weak and so are most of the game modes with the exception of 8 player which is fun if you can get a match; the matchmaking is terrible and takes forever to find a game. Def not worth 60$

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has clear remnants of actual effort. The game features gorgeous vistas, great sound design and fun gun-play that is to be expected from a game of this era.

However, monetisation of essential game mechanics such as heroes, guns and other upgrades leave the game unbalanced, unplayable and a mess.

    Do not buy this game!

I'd like to provide a balanced review of this game, from someone who has played hundreds (if not thousands) of hours online with Battlefront 1 , and also Battlefield 1 for that matter. I'd like to provide a balanced review of this game, from someone who has played hundreds (if not thousands) of hours online with Battlefront 1 , and also Battlefield 1 for that matter. Before reading the reviews I thought "is this the same hype that Battlefront 1 received" - which I very much enjoyed.

Firstly the good - graphics are great, sounds are great, the characters they included in this game are also great. Also the menu selection screens are quite beautiful. That's all that comes to mind.

On to the bad, and I'll list these by numbers in no particular order:

    1. The game is initially very confusing, the objectives, the different types of vehicles, how the different weapons operate, how and when to use different vehicles, how to strategically approach different objectives.
    2. The skins for this game are HORRIBLE. the robot troopers (whatever they are called, the thin ones) are almost impossible to see, providing a massive advantage to the robot army. Also the Empire has an officer, female in uniform, which looks exactly like a Rebel skin. Very confusing, and frustrating.
    3. The weapons feel very under powered. Thermal detonators are useless, most of the base guns are horrible. Some of the special effects are OK. The game feels incredibly unbalanced. You might spawn as Chewbacca for example after 5 minutes of grinding in a game, and you get killed by a lowly robot trooper played by some level 20 nerd who's upgraded everything, in a few milliseconds. Obviously not all of the weapons are underpowered, but the base weapons are all very very weak. Most explosive weapons are also very weak. The game highly favours top end "unlocks"
    4. The waiting times are annoying.
    5. The "squad" feature is weak and annoying. Encourages camping. Punishes people who push ahead and try to flank. If you are an "assault flanker" type gamer, this really sucks hard. Even the inclusion of jet packs doesn't really fix the problem. Mobility feels bad
    6. Most of the map designs are pretty poor, the death star one is OK. There are unfinished edges and bits that stick out of some areas, and "stuck in the wall syndrome" is alive and well. poorly tested levels.
    7. I don't think the game was tested at all, its extremely unbalanced beyond any other game I've ever played online. I'm not a professional gamer, but I'm a very solid BF1 (battlefront and battlefield) player, and in a recent game I only managed to get 3 kills in about an hour. The game heavily favours the stacked team, and people with significantly powerful unlocks. There are also lots of cheap "tricks" that experienced players will drain for all they are worth to get quick easy kills. In this sense the game was over-designed, but in all the wrong ways.
    8. The hero's are pretty much limited to seasoned regular (full time/unemployed) gamers who manage to get the battle points high enough. AND, they are hugely overpowered compared to Battlefront 1 - where they were well balanced. AND you will encounter them pretty regularly because of this terrible game mechanic. Map based pickups were far superior in this sense.
    9. The weapon drop off damage is all messed up, shooting people up close offers little advantages, get prepared to die a lot getting shot by a full-time gamer with all the unlocks sitting behind a bush 1km away.
    10. I've yet to understand this game. This is more of a personal gripe against the game. All previous styles of strategy have so far failed to work in this game. Flanking doesnt work because of how the opposition spawns, and the underpowered weapons. Careful placement of explosives thrown or fired doesnt yield much results either. There are very few stationary weapons that do much damage. Really the game BELONGS to those with superior upgrades, and who have spent incredible amount of hours unlocking things but also finding NICHE and cheap ways to get kills.

I personally dislike EA and I think we all saw this one coming about the loot box controversy and I don't think I have to go too much in depth about the game and what they lack on. If you love Star Wars then I recommend you to buy and play the classic Star Wars Battlefront 2. The classic game offers so much more than this abomination. This game became a disaster because of the greedy EA making you pay more which is unnecessary and not listening to the fans on what they want. There is one thing I have to give props to and that DICE putting a lot of effort into making the style and graphics beautiful.

Don't buy this game because you will have a hard time looking for a lobby to play. If EA screws up again with Battlefront 3 then god help us all.

There are no levels in this "game"only maps, most of which I did not play because I needed to spend more money in order to do so, I had already paid for the game and didn't understand why I would be asked to pay again. There were two maps that allowed me to play without paying further and at some point i managed to play a different one due to some kind of a so called 'promotion'. I was allowed to play as some dull star wars characters but the option was given to pay money to be allowed to play as popular characters from the movies. I was unwilling to pay for this feature as I had already purchased the game. I feel scammed by this misleading and greedy shell of a game. Do not buy this! Expand

I am sorry, but after paying 60$ teeming with microtransactions, loot boxes which taught kids gambling; and now they are busy peddling the whole 25$ skin and emote pack is a joke on all of us;. It's sad that this is AAA gaming today

The least they could do is make their product good (after gobbling our money) They also, forgoed bringing in the clone war DLC and in lieu, they are shoving down the scummy 25$ cosmetic crap and calling it a legacy... I was there for the micro trannys and gambling loot boxes... And came back when they removed it... Too little too late 1.) Abysmal single player 2.) copy pasta of a game: essentially BF2 is battlefield 1 with space wizards and space guns
3.) Anti consumer practices for too long Like most games today, those greedy game companies/publishers/stock holders (who never played games in their lives)... They'll just opt to copy paste games with old engines ause the whales with mommy's credit card don't care) not quality content...

I certainly hope people are not shilling for game companies anymore... Bethesda/EA/take2 showed us their true faces = faceless greed

These include new maps and characters to use in competitive game modes, improved UI and an expansion (of about 3 missions) to the campaign mode. All this and even more to come, including features from the original Battlefront 2 released around a decade and a half ago.The game will have finally surpassed its predecessors,2 years into its release. There are some glaring issues though: a buggy campaign with dreadful AI,redeemed partially by some fairly interesting characters and set-pieces. Most problematic of all are the predatory 'lootbox' mechanics that have since been removed but have tarnished this games reputation; this has become an expectation of games released by EA and so its up to personal perspective whether buying this game is feeding the culture of underhanded business practices in triple A games.

My final verdict is that this games competitive game modes in both multiplayer and single-player are amazing, especially with the regular free updates but the campaign is downright broken and also there is the question of whether making a game better than its 15 year old predecessor 2 years into its lifespan is a practice you want to support. Its worth considering, that not only did this progress take 2 years but it may not have happened without people making in-game purchases at the rate they did in 2017. Had they implemented the same predatory systems but to a smaller degree, as other games do regularly, would they have still given fans all the new free content?

I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a campaign so much. Iden and her squadmates are actually great characters and well-acted. Iden in particular is tough and resourceful, and a welcome addition to the broader universe. The campaign's story bridges Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens, which adds some nuggets of mystery to the new trilogy. At times the campaign feels a bit 'on rails' where the tension is entirely scripted and regardless of how long it takes you to achieve the goal you will achieve it, but overall I didn't notice, I was having too much fun. Also, the challenge curve is kind of all over the place. Most levels are quite easy but every now and then they will surprise you with a ridiculously tough scenario. The cut-scenes are beautiful and some of the best in recent memory. It was particularly cool to see the broadside cannons on the Star Destroyers, something we never saw in the movies. Also if you're a fan of the X-Wing miniatures game, the Imperial Raider gets serious screen time here!
Multiplayer is fun and I enjoy it more than Battlefront 1. I feel like you live a few seconds longer and it's no longer quite the meat grinder. The maps are varied and jaw-dropping in scope and action. The amount of ambient action going on is wild, for instance when battling around the Mos Eisley Cantina droids scurry about as NPC stormtroopers hassle locals, Dewbacks lumber by, and if you're in the air you can spot a Sandcrawler on the edge of town. Just loaded with details that make each world super rich. As for the loot crates, yes it is frustrating to leave so much class progression up to what is essentially a dice roll, but I'm awful at the game and earn a few crates every night. I do hope they add more trooper skins and also the ability to squad up with friends. It's a very weird omission that you can't stick with your friends, each time you die you're plopped into a random squad making coordinated teamwork basically nonexistent.
The offline modes are also very fun, although I wish there was an option to replay the combat scenarios with any hero you want.
Overall I like this game leaps and bounds over Battlefront 1 and as a Star Wars fan they just knocked it out of the park with the overall atmosphere and details.

I know most of the hate is towards the loot box system and everyone is all voting zero cause they wanna hit EA hard. To me, I can see the issue as they should do what Overwatch does.

Star Wars Battlefront 2, is of course the sequel to the online only star wars battlefront, but this time it adds a campaign, and boy is it disappointing…
Before I start, I’m going to make it clear that I’m not a star wars fan…
I’m reviewing this game as a game.. license unattached…
And if you’re not a star wars fan, this 4 and a half hour long campaign is a gigantic waste of your time.
This is easily the most generic garbage I’ve ever suffered through...
IT plays, is delivered, and feels like a 2010 ps3 game…
The campaign tells the story of Iden Versio mostly... though not primarily…
Infact half of the time not at all…
You get a bit of a perspective of the dark side, as shes the commander of the inferno squad
but the game make a huge mistake of following different paths of multiple heroes... characters you know...
minor spoilers, but youll be light sabering it up which was easily my favorite parts of this campaign…
And these great moments are interrupted with space battles that go on way too long and an uninspired least fun of all time linear 3rd person shooting adventure where you can play around with the idea of cards.. As every hero you play in the campaign has their own special moves on a cool down they can use... but as iden you can swap these cards for different grenade tpyes for example... or perk like health regeneration and shield...
I found the campaign to be a great way to introduce the mechanics of the online and for that reason is worth checking out… but nothing more as it’s just a bunch of shoot everything in your way while you get to a checkpoint, and defending positions while an npc interacts with an item… that’s it..
There are a few okay missions here and there… but none of them are ever fun... at all...
Again if you’re not a star wars fan just use it as a tutorial mode and get out of there...
There’s no fun, no meaningful story... theres nothing here…
Though completing the campaign does reward you with credits and loot boxes to give you a little head start online...
Thankfully the online unlike the campaign is fun and is this games saving grace
Online features 5 different modes, the 2 big ones 40 player classic assault which is objective based of defending and attacking positions or items and there’s the 24 player Starfighter assault, which is a bit like classic but in space…
these 2 game modes aren’t really what I enjoy in competitive modes and had me more frustrated with the pay to win feel of the game where players can all have more powerful cards, and again with 40 players running around you’re going to die pretty quickly in this mode if you’re a newbie..
You’re better off building yourself up in the other 3 modes first and coming back to these 2 later
I was afraid I was going to tear this game apart in my review until I played these much smaller game modes there’s blast with is 20 player call of duty style team death match, 16 player strike which is another objective based game mode,
All 4 of these modes you’ll be getting kills and earning points to bring in support from heroes and star craft to clean house and potentially turn the tables in a losing battle…
and then there’s my personal favorite 8 player heroes vs villains… where there is no saving up points..
Everyone starts as a hero character and it’s a game of attacking targets while defending your team mate…
This mode is a blast to me, and by itself changed my overall opinion of this game..
Everyone feels over powered... it’s just a matter of who can use their powers the best...
The controversy of this game comes mostly in the microtransactions which are currently disabled...
But there is a loot crate system where you can buy crates with credits earned in game from clearing challenges and finishing matches… and in these crates are cards, credits, and crafting materials…
Cards are bonuses you can attach to your characters... and this is what makes the game feel pay to win…
Your characters don’t get stronger by you using them.. They only get stronger by luck of the drawn…
Though you are able to craft cards of your choice with the crafting parts you earn and you can increase the power of these cards with these parts... though these are a bit rare
I don’t find these cards to be as big of an issue in smaller modes oddly because I feel youre given more space to rely on your skill as a player…
But in the larger modes youll definitely notice the buffed up players as their cards flash across your screen while theyre killing you over and over again with their upgraded grenades and turrets…
    its annoying..
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a bit of a let down to me, and im not even a star wars fan…
But there is fun to be had here in its online.. Especially in its smaller modes...
I give Star Wars Battlefront 2
    a 6.5/10

Thank feminists and developers who made this game for feminists. The worst game I've played in recent years. Much worse than Battlefront 1 (2015). Made worse all the details that there in the first part. Idiotic interface covering the whole screen. Idiotic gameplay. And microtransactions of course. Finally it's not game. It's bad mod for Battlefield 1. Very bad mod.

Star Wars Battlefront II is a very underrated game. It's really not that bad. EA and DICE clearly took fan feedback seriously and gave us a Star Wars game with all eras and an excellent single player campaign. While there are occasional glitches and a few flaws, its a good game overall.

Multiplayer Content: Battlefront II's multiplayer modes feature maps from many planets across all eras. In terms of content, there are unfortunately far fewer multiplayer game modes than the first game. The modes the game does have, however, are a lot of fun. Like in the previous game, you have Blast, where two teams simply try to kill each other. There is also Strike, which features objective based battles. My personal favorite is Starfighter Assault which has objective based space battles that are much better than the first game. Finally, there is Heroes Vs Villains, an epic game mode where two small groups of your favorite movie characters fight. The main thing I really don't like about the game modes is that they don't relate to any of the movies. It would be really cool to have a multiplayer space battle where you get to blow up the Death Star like in the first game. Also, you don't get to chose which map you play on, which is a huge disappointment.

Game Mechanics: The new Battlepoints system is a huge pro to this game. In the first game, you could only play as heroes by finding hero pickups, which were very difficult to get ahold of. Battlefront II fixed this flaw with Battlepoints, points you earn while playing online that you can redeem to play as a hero or to hop in a Starfighter or tank. The only little flaw with this system is that the heroes are too expensive, in my opinion. In terms of controls and combat, it is more or less the same as the first game. The only main difference is in Starfighter Assault where they got rid of the targeting computer for primary weapons, making it more challenging to kill. I love this because you actually have to AIM while firing on other ships: it is more realistic. Like in the last game, you get Star Cards for each character to give them added abilities. The bad thing about this is that you can only get Star Cards from Loot Crates, which are way too expensive. Another flaw with this is that if you get a Star Card for a hero, you needed to have unlocked that hero to equip it. The fact that you have to unlock heroes is bad enough, but at least make them cheap: it costs thousands of credits just to unlock one hero. Not only do you have to unlock heroes, you also have to unlock blasters: you can't just buy them like in the last game. With all these flaws in gameplay, you don't progress very much in the game.

Arcade: In addition to the campaign, you can also play the arcade by yourself or with a friend. The arcade unfortunately only features 2 single player modes, 2 co-op modes, and not enough maps. Playing by yourself, you can be a hero and go up against how every many enemies you want or you can fight in team battles. In co-op, you can do a team battle or a duel between 2 heroes. The only other thing the arcade has is Battle Scenarios, a list of different battles you can fight in across all eras with lots of characters.

Single Player Campaign: My favorite part of Battlefront II has to be the addition of a story mode. In the campaign, you usually play as Inferno Squad leader Iden Versio with the exception of a few missions that you play as movie characters. The story basically tells you what happens between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, which I have always wondered about. In terms of difficulty, there are 3 different difficulty settings that you can change at any time to get the optimal gameplay experience.

    Pros:
    - Graphics look almost like real life
    - Excellent single player campaign
    - Gameplay across all eras
    - New Starfighter mechanics
    - The Battlepoints system
    - The new Heroes Vs Villains multiplayer game mode
    - New patches and DLCs
    Cons:
    - Not enough multiplayer game modes
    - Lack of movie-related gameplay
    - Not enough arcade modes
    - Lack of ability to chose which maps you play online
    - Poor progression system
    - Restricted heroes and weapons
    - Occasional glitches

Verdict: Overall, Battlefront II is an improvement in some ways, but also a regression in other ways. The game is certainly a lot of fun, and I'm sure it will only get better with updates and DLCs. The amount of flaws in the game, however, limit Battlefront II to being a "good" game at best.

    Scores:
    Graphics/Sound - 5/5
    Gameplay - 5/5
    Gameplay Mechanics - 2/5
    Content - 3/5
    Overall - 3.75/5 = 75%

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Battlefront II has an interesting single-player story spanning from the Battle of Endor up until the events of The Force Awakens, with more of the single-player campaign that will become unlocked with the coming of The Last Jedi and the DLC 'season' associated with it. While it's entertaining and gives you a new look at events occurring behind the scenes of the Star Wars universe, it doesn't feel like it truly tells a new story from the side of the Empire. While there is future free DLC expanding on the story, the core campaign itself feels a bit short. Even playing on the hardest difficulty available, completing the story only took 5 hours. This probably would have even taken less time if it weren't for the fact that they included side-story missions that allowed you to play as different heroes, fleshing out how it all meshes into the Star Wars timeline.

Unarguably, the graphics are top-notch, especially on the Xbox One X, and when matched with the authentic sounds of blaster fire and random stormtrooper chatter.. it really gives you chance to pretend you're fighting in the Star Wars universe. That's enough to look past the occasional texture graphic load-in bug that make things unplayable and have to leave a match.

Though the loot crate mechanic implementation is terribly flawed, the gameplay itself seems fairly polished. There's doesn't seem to be much difference from Battlefront (2015) in terms of gunplay. The main difference seems to be in the way Star Cards are implemented and what they effect as well as heroes. No more camping a power-up to take to the skies in your TIE or X-wing or becoming a hero.. those now require battle points to earn the right to use during a match. That's a positive change. However, class rank-ups now seem completely arbitrary and based upon what Star Card you manage to draw. Paying for quick access to higher-leveled cards and greater card use terribly imbalances gameplay, especially during the early life-cycle of the game. It also handicaps new players later on once the playerbase obtains a greater share of power. While improved matchmaking may alleviate this, at a certain point, that won't really help. What's worse is that you're not even rewarded for good performance, generally netting you the same share of credits as everyone else. While EA says they want players to feel a sense of accomplishment, they're really just rewarding you for your participation.

End-of-match accolades also seem to be an afterthought, as often times the same player is recognized for different achievements in a match. This feels like a terrible step back, especially compared to games like Battlefield 1 that would recognize different players for performance in different classes and offering a sort of tiered recognition where the same player wouldn't be recognized multiple times.

Then comes monetization: loot boxes. Any implementation that affects core gameplay is bad. It feels like in an attempt to improve profit margins, the developers/publishers forgot their audience. Star Wars is a popular brand, and while you could almost do anything to it and make a profit, you still have to keep things fair for your customers. Everyone paid for the product, but you shouldn't give people who have greater disposable income an advantage just for throwing more money at you. That's disrespectful to your base audience. While one aspect was improved with the launch patch in terms of heroes.. the loot box implementation in this case was misguided because it completely disregarded one of the things players like most: player customization.

Gone are your choices of what to look like in Battlefront 2. You spawn in as a random gender. There's no variety of faces, either. Only a select few heroes have alternate appearances that you can unlock with a loot box drop.

Why they would decide to affect gameplay instead of targeting non-existent player customization in Battlefront 2 is beyond me.. if you want to make money, you can always have more cosmetic customizations without offending anyone.

Considering things a bit further, I have to ask myself: Is this game even finished yet? The developers let us know that the player customization system isn't complete yet. There's no toggle for group privacy.. all groups are private. Even if you make a group, is there really a point? They're marked on your map, but you're not spawning with them. Group spawning should be a base feature. Even the music is a toggle when there's a third option listed right in the option description. if it weren't for the core gameplay mechanics being complete and the audio-visual luster.. there are enough points to make one seriously consider that the game isn't ready yet but is being pushed out the door to release before The Last Jedi.

All in all, Battlefront 2 is a great game and a wonderful Star Wars experience dragged through the mud by poorly thought-out monetization mechanics of EA's toxic philosophy that runs counter to gamers.

They've improved the Space Combat, Hero "drops" and added a ton of new maps and a single payer campaign. However, the Loot Box Style progression system is a grind-fest and rather boring and the ground combat Multiplayer isn't that balanced.

Playing the game is fun but not great. Star Wars fans will like it more than non die-hard fans will.

Astounding game! Excellent music, graphics are out of this world. The combat mechanics are excellent. The campaign story is very good - however VERY short. If they've made a Witcher type game with this graphics and story - it would have been 10/10.

I see there are lots of negatives comments - however only about multiplayer. I don't play the multiplayer so can't comment on that.

Why Battlefront has disappointed me & Why it will fail...

If I’m Being honest with you guys from the start I figured from what I experienced in the beta I wouldn’t like the full game so to avoid dropping $60 on a game that I may not like I signed up for EA Access even though I didn’t want to because I already own or don’t care for the other games offered through the service, but I did it because wasting $6 is a lot better than $60 and I wanted to share my opinion on the new battlefront. According to the site this is still the full version of the game anyways so I signed up to give you guys my honest review of the game. Now I didn’t play the campaign even though I do want to play it because I saw no point considering I couldn’t finish it. So my review will only be on the multiplayer aspect of the game. Before I go into my review I want to explain why I am so disappointed with EA’s Battlefront games. Both of them now…

You know ever since I heard DICE was making Battlefront back in like 2014 I thought my dreams were finally answered, the universe heard my idea, because back when I went from playing the original Battlefront 2 in 2007 to Battlefield Bad Company in 2008 I imagined the next battlefront game while playing bad company, I was like this is awesome, all the weapons vehicles and destruction, I thought wouldn’t a game like this but it’s star wars be freaking awesome? And I asked others and many people agreed and said dice should make the game because they are the only company that could make it right, or so we thought. I just don’t understand why they refuse to make the game many of us want. Just imagine a battlefield-like game but with star wars skin, what more could a big battlefield fan and an even bigger STAR WARS fan ask for? Right?! WRONG! They released the crap they called Battlefront 2015 and I was highly disappointed and frustrated as hell so I made videos to reflect that, many people disliked the videos and said I was wrong that the game was good etc but eventually others saw what I saw in that game from day one and also made videos to reflect their disappointment and the game died. So I figured the people over at DICE would learn and finally give me and many others what they wanted… Turns out I was wrong as hell again and instead we get Battlefront 2 2017 the same game with a few more options, weapons and heroes, but with the same problems and issues the first game had.

When it comes to the outrage for Battlefront 2 I am dumbfounded, yet I am also not surprised if that makes any sense at all. I feel this way because of the reason people are angry at Battlefront 2, don’t get me wrong I understand their anger and hate for the loot crate system, but I feel it over shadows the real reasons this game is bad. I believe battlefront 2 sucks because of the simplistic gunplay, the maps being cluttered with visual garbage, the bad balance, the fact that each time I play a match it feels the same no matter what map I play on and so much more. In reality the game hasn’t changed much since the last release in 2015, and this really frustrates me because no one can see it or wants to admit it. Not to mention I feel they are using the loot crates or the progression system controversy to distract everyone from the fact that it’s the same core game.

However this is about Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the fact that this game is simple as **** it offers no challenge, no sense of progression and gives me no reason to want to keep playing. What happens when I unlock all the heroes and cards? Hmm? What reason do I have to want to keep playing? There is no depth to this game, yeah there is more maps and more characters to play with but it’s the same experience no matter what map or character you are controlling. The only fun part is using the heroes or op vehicles but that appeal eventually dies.

So while the maps are big and beautiful they are also linear as **** with a lot of filler and clutter objects that make it hard to spot enemies in third person and that also obstructs the camera a lot in matches Causing me to experience **** deaths and frustration. The maps really don’t help give me that feeling of random chaotic matches. In each match you know what the enemies will do because you know where they will be coming from and what they need to do, there is no randomness just a bunch of linear paths and choke points. You can’t flank enemies and even if you could it wouldn’t make a huge difference each match imo is won by brute force or whoever can get a hero first.

I have more to say but it wont fit so overall I feel the game is bad and I won’t be buying it any time soon, and it has nothing to do with the loot crate issues. I just don’t like the game, adding more crap doesn’t make a game more in-depth and while i'm glad the game now spans all eras but it doesn’t change the fact I find the overall experience unrewarding.

You know, the team behind this game was not untalented. This is all based on the multiplayer gameplay. I haven't tried the campaign yet. I usually don't do campaigns in these types of games.

Some things I think need changed for the game to have any longevity: 1. This game absolutely NEEDS a conquest mode. It will add a ton of variety and replay value. PLEASE DICE! I know you can do it. (if this game had Conquest, I would give it an 8)

    1. This game absolutely NEEDS a conquest mode. It will add a ton of variety and replay value. PLEASE DICE! I know you can do it. (if this game had Conquest, I would give it an 8)
    2. More optimization for weapons. More weapons in general would be nice, but I think those are coming in the future.
    3. The ability to spawn on teammates and more abilities that help other teammates for classes besides the officer. I haven't really thought of it, but for example, the Assault class, when using Vanguard, could also speed boost the people around him.

I don't really have a problem with the current unlock system. Paying to be able to unlock a hero is a bit sketchy though, but you do already have half or more of the heroes already unlocked and ready to play. When I was reading comments about how random the unlocks are and as you play one class, you unlock star cards for other classes, I was not happy about it at all. After playing the game for a while though, it doesn't bother me. The reason this doesn't bother me is because you get a lot of crafting tokens that will allow you to unlock whichever star card you want, given you are high enough level for it. This makes the star cards you get from the loot crates just an added bonus. The amount of crafting points you get should probably go up.

However, that being said, there should absolutely be some kind of skin unlocks and character appearance customization.

Also, playing the class you want will unlock weapons for that class as well as mods for those weapons.

The gameplay is a lot of fun so far. Galactic Assault can be a bit one sided a lot of the time, but that can be fixed with an update. I have only experience a few glitches and some lag, but overall the game feels great. Everything feels smooth and if you ever played Battlefield 3, 4 or 1, you know that it is a damn miracle that this game plays as well as it does at launch.

I'm not saying everyone else is wrong, these are just my thoughts to someone that is on the fence about getting the game.

I personally think the most egregious thing about it is the grinding which is utterly unbalanced and a snorefest. That being said, this is the same **** that Ubisoft does time and time again, and I do sympathise for EA that they are bearing the brunt of the much deserved criticisms despite the fact this has been happening for a long long time (look at the ridiculous grinding with For Honour and Rainbow Siege which are just as bad but didn't get the same negative publicity). However, not to defend EA nor the game, there are still some worthy things to talk about this game IF YOU DON'T CARE THIS IS A $60 GAME BASED ON A FREE TO PLAY MODEL.

    Pros:
First this game is still very beautiful to look. Although its not as detailed or smooth as BF1, I think the attention to detail is still much better than other games. The actual game has a lot more content than the previous BF1 and the battle point system is indeed quite fun once your in the game. That being said there are more negatives that people are overlooking that I would like to highlight.

CONS (and there are many excluding the well known ones):
Firstly, there are actually more negatives in this game compared with BF1 and Im not talking about the stuff you know from the media (ie loot boxes etc - that been done to death), instead i would like to focus on the actual negative stuff. These include:
    - The game being pretty boring. Firstly despite having more content and classes etc, for some reason the game feels rather boring in MP. The problem is that the game design is bang average making most people fighting in very broad areas with little squad mechanics or shared objectives. It feels like playing a 3rd person call of duty most of the time instead of the single point, choke point kind of warfare. The problem is that most of the game mechanics are quite limited and most epople also never get to play the heroes themselves. The actual gunplay seems a bit off despite with the added variety.
    - The single player is boring and a wate of time. Despite having this as a selling point, its rather stupid how the single player is generic and not much else to do.
    - Still no galatic conquest? Its a joke how they really hate the community.
    - The progress system is stupid as you well know.
    - Another problem after playing the game is that the map design for most of the game feels off. For a game that prides itself being like Star Wars, it feels awful and generic. The fact that we dont have more content on heroes and classes from different eras speak volumme how much they dont care about the community.

    Summary
This game if you look at it broadly is well deserved 0. However, if you come to buy this game eyes open and don't care about the unethical practices which have been in mulitiple mulitplayer games such as those by Ubisoft for a very long time now (its just the chickens have come to roost now), then there are some merits to this game as highlighted above. That said this game probably is entertaining for around 10-20 hours before it becomes dog**** boring with lack of progress, leaderboards and stats which other DICE game excelled in at the past. Its very sad but welcome to modern gaming!

The game has beautiful graphics, nice controls, decently balanced team mechanics, and interesting objectives which keep me coming back. The ship portion of the game is fairly well done, as someone who sucks at dogfighting games I am still able to get some kills. The campaign is cool enough but short and definitely up to personal preference. I reccomend doing campaign before multiplayer as it gives a taste of everything Battlefront 2 has to offer. Hopefully we will receive characters such as Anakin, Dooku, Force Unleashed Apprentice (unlikely), or even the legendary Ki-Adi-Mundi. I feel a small amount of visual customization would add tons to the game, I assume it's taking a bit because the troopers change depending on the map. Sometimes the 20v20 games feel short, but it's usually a good thing when the battle is so fun you don't want it to end ;)

Overall I think the unlocking system is fairly simple, easy, and cheap; I would ask for harder unlocks and more credit expensive (maybe vanity?) stuff but I can't tell about 6,373 people are allergic to difficulty in games. I've unlocked all the heroes I wanted in a fairly short time, don't feel the need to spend cash if that becomes an option.

Things seem to be balancing out and online play is finally more enjoyable than frustrating. I have been really enjoying this game a lot lately.

I really wish you could have a guest online though like most CoD games, with 2 players the arcade is really boring and gets old fast...we often end up playing online and swapping out every 3 deaths or so because it is just more fun than those boring time based modes for split screen.

I really don't like that the best characters start out locked. Maybe if they could unlock as you progress in levels like other games things wouldn't seem like so much of a grind. It took a while to save up for Vader, too bad I can't get Luke for a while or even Palpatine.

Even with the issues this game made for itself, its still a solid game. If the loot crates come back with pay to win in mind, I could see myself playing a lot less as I don't really have the spare money right now to sink into a game that I already spent $80 on for the ability to play a few days early.

However, the game did launch with a lot of problems. Yes, their progression system is horribly slow and unrewarding, yes it also allowed for people who paid money or played a ridiculous number of hours to have an advantage in combat, and yes because of those issues the Heroes vs Villians game mode was unplayable because every lobby had people using rubberbands on their controllers to spin in circles so they could get rewards while being AFK. Those are all valid complaints. But they're all fixable things. I have no doubts that EA will fix all these things and release free DLC content as they said they would. So this game does not deserve a less than 1 out of 10 rating that it currently has while I write this.

    Hey Guys,

I believe that this game is gorgeous. It looks stunning, sounds amazing and feels like Star Wars. It immerses you in one of the 3 epic ages of Star Wars history: Clone Wars, Rise and Fall of the Empire and the New Order vs. the Resistance.

In order to understand this game let us compare it with the last installment of the series and take a look at how much DICE (&EA) listened to our hopes for this game:

Lets look at what STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 does better:

    - offers a by far wider variety in planets and locations (from all 3 Ages)
    - includes 6 unique Star Wars Factions (with their own vehicles etc.)
    - has a class system that was wished for from the community --> gives a true feeling of Star Wars IMO
    - maps seem to have a little more variety to them and the small cutscenes actually make me feel like im
    in the battles themselves
    - has a single player campaign (average but OK I guess (would give it a 6.5/10 for solo campaigns) -->
also gives you a lot of rewards for multiplayer)
    - allows for more customization in classes with guns / attachments
    - has on paper the better star card system than the last one (if you leave aside the p2w aspect)
    - has NO season pass!!!

But what does this game do worse than the last one?

    - Microtransactions = EA`s greed for the Star Wars license
    - From a point onwards slow progression (they want to make us buy Crystals)

In terms of graphics, soundtrack and map design this game is on par with the first installment if not maybe better.

Let us talk about unlocks: DICE already decreased the price of the heroes. After 6h story and 6h multiplayer I am currently sitting on 43.000 Credits and 300 Parts. This is enough to unlock Darth Vader + Luke + Leia / or open almost 11 Trooper-Crates and uprgade some star cards.
In my opinion this is more than enough for a good start into multiplayer.

Don´t get me wrong. I think that the grind starts after you spend your first credits. In order to unlock something afterwards it takes hours in game. This is something that needs to be addressed ASAP!

--- NOW: Why do I believe this game is better than the last one? ---

In my opinion we got half a game for $60 for the first Star Wars Battlefront (2015). The game was lackluster and was not fun after 50 hours of gameplay. After you sink your teeth into that game you feel like there was nothing to unlock, nothing more to do, nothing to play it for anymore. It was fun for around 40 hourse before realizing it was just a hull of what is was intended to be.
This game at least let`s you grind for something and makes you stay longer playing and wanting that new hero, unlockable and so on.

The soul of the first game`s experience was ripped out and was sold to us for $50 more -- SEASON PASS.

Star Wars BATTLEFRONT 2 gives you practically all the content from the last game + season pass + 2 completely untouched factions in the last game from day one as well as a Single player Campaign.

I therefore would rather choose the microtransactions than the season pass because you can still grind for all items in game but not for a season pass unlock in the first installment of the series.

In my opinion SWBF2 is a far superior game to the 2015 version of SW Battlefront.

    DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND:

I completely understand the hate this game got from the community. I agree that a game that is full price should neither include a season pass, nor microtransactions of any kind. For a completely fair user experience their should be no shortcuts allowed for any player.
Everything should be unlocked through an achievement system of some kind that is fun and enjoyable to play through.

    Let`s see what happens next.
I would rate this game after around 12h of gameplay a 7/10. Maybe even higher if they fix the microtransactions p2w aspect.

If the game's progression system wasn't completely garbage, I'd give this game a 9 or 10. I still bought this game despite the controversy because I am a huge star wars fan, but now I see the problem. The progression system was built to entice you/your children to spend money on loot boxes. It is aggravatingly slow to accomplish the challenges in the game so that you get annoyed and keep making purchases of a couple bucks. There are serious competitive advantages for spending money - which means this game has zero competitive integrity. Right now microtransactions have been turned off temporarily, but since the progression system was built around microtransactions, the entire thing is broken.

To summarize, great game design and gameplay, but terrible execution by EA's execs on progression. Ruined an otherwise fantastic game.

Let's get this out of the way first, I don't care about what the prices were for the heroes, they don't make a huge impact for gameplay as a whole. The whole PR monetization business is covering up some concerning issues with the game's visual and gameplay aspects.

Overall this game feels like it lacks the epic trilogy that's portrayed in the movie and gives a short quick dirty match
Let's get this out of the way first, I don't care about what the prices were for the heroes, they don't make a huge impact for gameplay as a whole. The whole PR monetization business is covering up some concerning issues with the game's visual and gameplay aspects.

Overall this game feels like it lacks the epic trilogy that's portrayed in the movie and gives a short quick dirty match between players, the constant server stutters stops it from being enjoyable at times, and even when the match is finished it does not feel like it was an accomplishment as your in-game currency is not reflected by your victory/success. It doesn't capture the epic battle sense as the original series did when it came to vehicle/objective gameplay.

Most games back in those days were into couch-coop which is why most early iterations of any game series suddenly grew in popularity because it allowed friends to come over an enjoy the experience with you and if they really wanted their own copy to enjoy on their own time, they would buy it and still have the online option to play with you or others...

    (Balance/Design problems)
    -Maps are linear.
-There's no ping a latency in the scoreboard.
-Player count 24 less than what is possible with most games by EA.
-Beginner weapons for both specialist and officer is unbearably weak.
-The interact area for sabotage missions is somewhat small and misleading. (You think with an AA gun the size of 1.5m diameter you could just plant the charge anywhere BUT you have to place it in one cardinal direction.)
-Overtime doesn't acknowledge someone planting with overwhelming odds on point.
-Matches are ridiculously short due to low ticket count for certain instances on the Galactic assault.
-Vehicles feel out of place due to map design.
-Some moments which should feel epic are not played up by the music or are short-lived. (i.e. when opposing hero's clash, normal players coming into view/clash with hero or when the music picks up beat too late towards the end of a match, low ticket count or not playing at all when final objective is in reach.)
-Lack of private dedicated servers. (Unfortunately I've seen good old games with a dedicated community go dark overnight because publisher only servers, the single player itself is not good enough to stand on it's own.)
-No split-screen and no two player arcade for PC.

    (What's good about it?)
    +It's Star Wars.
+Point system allows players to play the game/objective rather than camp hero power-ups.
+Flying bodies is always fun to watch.
+More maps to fight on than previous iteration (not counting the original series).
+Everyone is capable of doing an objective (unlike the first iteration which locked what weapons you were using, so if you didn't have a essential weapon for an objective you were out-of-luck for that entire match.)
    +Streamline character classes
    +Visually pleasing

    (Bugs/Needed improvements)
-Star-fighter: dying near objects without touching them. (This is a conflict between server/client)
-Because maps are slightly too linear some fights seem stagnant when a battle happens in 1 to 2 choke-points.
-Load times are ridiculous, especially for arcade mode, chances are the player is going to want to play the same map and go up a tier so why force players to unload the map to the main menu and reload it after selecting a tier?
-Difficulty (In single player, fighting infantry feels lack luster as they make no attempt to surround or goat you out of position. During starfighter battles the AI basically turns on a dime and can not lose sight of you once they decide your their target. On escort/defend missions the AI really makes no attempt to attack the target your trying to defend and even if they did the large amount of health your VIP high is ridiculously high.)
-The most well known smuggler in the galaxy and Shriv calls him Ham.
-Certain lines of dialog need to have their phonetic spellings replace. (i.e. Artoo, I get some of voice actors don't even know what Star Wars is but a quick QA through single-player wouldn't HURT)
-Can't pair up with friends in matches.
-Some essential communication is missing from squads.
-Animals or civilians run around in T-pose if they are far enough from player.
-Cut back a little on the lens flair as some of them are way out of proportion with some of the building lights and forestry.
-Match making does a poor job as one team may have mostly 20+ leveled infantry while everyone else is below that line.
-Matches contain large gaps between two teams (i.e. 12-14 people are playing against 20).
-Double grenades (obviously a one is client and the other is server...)
-Tracer darts fire in weird directions vs their predicted trajectory. (For example directly left or right of screen rather than at the cross-hair.)

The micro-transaction system doesn't exist anymore... and people are still giving the best game I have ever played with my kids scores of 0 or 1, it makes no sense. If you like star wars, and want a game you can actually play with your kids... this is the first. Expand

The Loot Crate and progression systems are frustrating and poorly conceived, but the multiplayer sure is fun. In terms of play, I would say that it is a huge step forward from the last entry. Don't buy before reading about crate/progression systems. Some people will not be ok with it.

I think this is a great game the only things i have against it is the heroes being locked and all of the lag. I think the game play is great, i love the controls and game modes, the thing i don't like is that the heroes are locked and the amount of credits you get for playing a round is like 300 credits and the heroes are 10,000-15,000.

It's a remarkably fun game; the single player is good despite what reviewers say, and the multiplayer really shines. Now that I figured out my way around the progression system I am unlocking game-earned loot crates rapidly, and have unlocked multiple heroes and decked out all my troopers with cards. I haven't even had the game a whole week. The negative feedback is totally warranted and the game would have been an easy 10/10 if it wasn't designed around a payed loot system, but now that I have had a significant amount of time in game I can say with certainly that it is not nearly as bad as people say. The main key is playing a little of each trooper and the other game modes. Doing his I am raking in credits rapidly and have tons of crafting parts to upgrade what I want. Focusing on one class or mode will definitely get you stuck in a pointless grind. Expand

Progression isn't as bad as people think. Please don't jump on the bandwagon with this game. The multiple modes feel like entirely different games, with galactic assault blending them together masterfully.
Heroes vs villains is a great almost overwatch style heroes game where heroes counter each other. Teamwork is 100 percent essential in this mode, if one person feeds the other team

This games visuals and art style are beautiful, and the story provides some insightful welcome additional details to the newly approved star wars canon. Including showing us a little bit more of Kylo before TFA and letting us know some of what Luke was up to as well.
Starfighters are fantastic, especially in space, and there's nothing more satisfying than hearing the Slave 1's sonic grenade quieten the whole battlefield.
Please buy this game. Don't let your hatred or prejudice for certain developers and game companies affect your decisions to have fun. Especially if you love Star wars.

This is the same type of thing happening with the last jedi at the moment.
Remember to make your own decisions.

The gameplay is solid, the gunplay feels satisfying. Heroes are balanced completely unlike the first game, no more people with heroes having 68 kills and one death.
I unlocked several of the heroes within the first few hours, the people complaining it takes 40 hours are straight lying.
This is why user score should not be trusted, this is one of the best games of the year with corporate greed holding it back.

    + Sound
    + Fun
    + Immersion
+ Lot of content (Starfighter Assault could be a separate game)
+ Campigan mission played as Iden Versio
    + Free DLC

    - Progression in the game could be faster.
    - Missions in campigan playd as heroes (Luke, Lando, Leia, Han) are boring, and do not fit the story.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
