I've been waiting for this game to be the great redeemer of EA DICE but have found myself even more angry than I was for the first EA Battlefront's gameplay.

P2W aspects might still fully be in the game after they re-enable "the ability to purchase crystals in-game at a later date". People should NOT go out and buy the game just because of this statement by EA. A wait and see approach to the statement made is the best course of action at this time.

Threre is the good game with the horrible monetization. Full price and paying for the gameplay things, not even cosmetics. Nice! Do not follow this "modern" decision. Do not help them to gang us!

EA ruined it. This time for sure. Not a paricular good game itself. Bit the biggest problem is greed here. Lootboxes and P2W are evil. And gamers react accordingly. Simple and fair math, Don't be surprised, EA!

Beautiful on the outside but a disgusting monster on the inside. Worst progression system of this generation. We were promised something very special on the second outing of the dice battlefront series but despite what they had planned EA has destroyed this franchise for good.

Fact this game is about average in gameplay, above average in graphics and sound. But Loot boxes tied directly to progression and a incomplete campaign storyline. As of this writing EA has temporarily removed loot boxes, but said they will return. All these facts make this a no buy game!!!!!!!!!!

Loot box controversy aside, this is a piss poor Star Wars game. It’s so called “campaign” is a ladder of missions that will all last you about 4 hours. Add that with a story which holds no stakes to care for and horrible voice acting, and you have something that is a shame on the name of the Battlefront franchise, especially with the stories the older games were able to tell. This game is an experiment by EA to see how many people will reach into their pockets to experience their so called “Star Wars fantasies” online in a generic shooter help up by some impressive graphics and stunning visuals. Being a Star Wars fan, I appreciated the nods that DICE left in the game. All in all, this is not a game that is worth your money even if they are cancelling the micro transactions as this game is not completely finished yet. Shameful, EA. Expand

You can't support a game aimed at children whose primary components are gambling and gunplay. The fact that they've turned off the system until the PR heat cools off is not reassurance enough to ever buy this game.

First off although the campaign is a bit short taking only 5 hours to complete it is an incredible story that follows Iden Versio between the battle of Endor and the rise of the first order. Each mission is unique and fun to play.

Multiplayer is a great experience as you will be able to take part in massive ground and space battles across loads of iconic locations in the Star Wars universe.

A couple of issues i have with the game is that most of the maps and heroes come from the original trilogy. e.g there are 8 ot heroes and 2 heroes each for the Prequels and the sequels. considering that the last game was just the original trilogy i would have liked to have seen a lot more new content. The other issue i have is that considering that the only way to get star cards is through loot crates you are going to need the buy a lot of them to unlock every thing. The problem here is that trooper crates cost 4000 credits and on average you will make about 300 credits in a 11 minute long match. So at the moment you are going to need to put in thousands of hours to unlock all the star cards which is stupid. i hope that in the coming months DICE will fix this issue by increasing the amount of credits you earn per match. Overall Star Wars battlefront 2 is an amazing game with a few minor problems at launch but will hopefully be fixed in the future.

I enjoyed the previous SWBF very much, even if it isn't considered a shooter on par with other games that define the genre. But SWBF 2 simply sucks. But SWBF 2 simply sucks. Even apart from the possibility of pay to win microtransactions, this is the worst shooter I've ever played. First, the game does not run smoothly. Player movement is jerky and stuttering, which makes it impossible to aim properly. Second, I have a question: is my weapon supposed to harm the enemy? Because mine never does. Server lag is a big problem. Often, I get the jump on the enemy, I shoot them multiple times point blank, and they just won't go down. It's not uncommon for me to die, and then see my killer appear from behind cover after I'm already dead. In other words, I never had a chance to shoot back because the server was too slow letting me know he was there. Third, the maps are poorly designed. Good shooters have well thought out maps that are conducive to interesting, enjoyable combat. But with these maps, players just run all over the map willy nilly without purpose, trying to kill randomly and collect points so that they can come back as some uber hero. You spend all your time simply trying to find the enemy, and then before you do, you get ear holed by some cheesy mechanic, such as a hero, before you ever have the chance to use your blaster. Fourth, controller responsiveness is poor. The circle button is supposed to make your character roll and crouch. But the response is hit and miss. Sometimes they crouch when you want to roll, roll when you want to crouch, but more often than not it just does neither one, especially when someone is shooting at you. Shield doesn't deploy when I need it. Grenade won't throw when I need it. Etc... Finally, character advancement gives higher level players a big advantage. It is, in a very real sense, pay to win. Other shooters have been smart enough to make advancement more about fun abilities, and not about dominating the battlefield with uber abilities and heroes. Players that had the 3 day early access are basically unbeatable until you level up your own character. Expand

Everything in the story feels rushed and the cutscenes are only there to move you from one fire fight to another. The online is broken, the "grind" is impossible, the star card system is not working, and the lack of any customization is a huge step back. Regardless of the loot box system this game is a step back on all fronts. The online lacks the one thing that would make it worlds better, and that is a sense of accomplishment. If it had a real "grind" in place, and offered real challenges to the player instead of a loot box lottery system then a lot of the bad could be forgiven. This game just fails on all fronts, and only dies one thing right, and that one thing is making the first EA Battlefront look even better. Expand

This does not deserve to be called a classic video game. A more accurate name for this thing is direct deposit into the EA company s account. Not to mention its a gambling system and all of this simply doesn't make up for how "spectacular" the game play might be its utter garbage through an through.

The multiplayer is fun, until you are against someone on the opposite team who has spent tons of money to max out a character that can dominate an entire team by itself. The progression is broken due to the micro-gambling transactions for loot boxes and the absurd bypassing of skill to upgrade characters with real world money. This game is fundamentally broken at this point in time and it will take a major overhaul of the progression system to make the gameplay fun.

EA tries to please casual gamers and hardcore gamers at the same time, but the old saying about that stands true: jack of all trades, master of none. It's not casual enough to be arcade like, and not hardcore enough to be a Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. Also, the economy debacle is worse than anything I have ever seen in a game.

Surpasses previous Battlefront in almost every regard. Space battles are fun. Earning credits in the game to play heroes or use vehicles is also better than picking up tokens. Its all in all very solid game. Now the lootboxes micro-transaction crap is of course disgusting, but even when paying real money is disabled, its a problem after roughly 10 hours of game. First few hours, you will be getting enough cards, basic ones, which creates illusion that it will be all good and progression is fine. Problem comes later on, when you want to acquire or craft better cards. Its brutal how long it takes to upgrade stuff. Feels extremely like a free to play game.
Another thing is buying heroes. You have to earn game credits to buy the crates or buy heroes. Its very rare you get to play in the game a hero, because you must do realy well. So majority of the time, you are playing as regular class. Because of that you are inclined to buy crates, which give you cards for regular classes, rather than buying new heores, which you have to save up for. As a result of that, you realy dont get to play heroes you want to play as ( Darth Vader for example ). Which is crazy. If you pay $60 for game, you shouldnt be cornered to a position like this. You have to grind 15000 credits ( earning roughly 200 per match ) to buy Vader, which you then get to play very rarely, since as mentioned, its very difficult to actualy play any hero in the game ( takes a lot effort to earn match credits to afford them, match credits and game credits are different thing ).

Then there small annoying issues like not being able to select what maps you want to play. Only 4 weapons per class, while the obviously best one is the last one you earn and thats after 500 kills with given class.

These are all basically secondary things ruining otherwise very fun, beautiful game.

What is one of the most fun parts in the game at the begging is getting to play as all these characters, vehicles in a match by earning the match credits. You get to play all kinds of vehicles you can think of, ride on TaunTauns, BattleDroid, use speeders, X-wings, there is so much stuff. All of them have unique abilities, are fun to use and work much better than in previous Battlefront. But of course it is eventually spoiled with the cards, you will be focusing on when playing the game long term.

If you have huge craving for Star Wars, i think its worth getting the game, eventho you will have to deal with the terrible progression system. If you were outraged by the controversy over microtransations, i would suggest to not buy the game, not only to support the boycott, but you will also be pretty annoyed later on after the initial magic and spectacle wears off after few hours, because after that you are left with this terrible grind, which leaves bad taste in a mouth, at least in my mouth it does.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
