This review is based on actually playing the game - and - has nothing to do with micro transactions.

I also like Star Wars, and found the Battlefront 1 to be pretty good at re-creating the feeling of being in the Star Wars universe. The menus: are horrible to navigate. In the previous game, the classic Star Wars music would punch in the second you fired up the game and set the mood
This review is based on actually playing the game - and - has nothing to do with micro transactions.

I also like Star Wars, and found the Battlefront 1 to be pretty good at re-creating the feeling of being in the Star Wars universe.

The menus: are horrible to navigate. In the previous game, the classic Star Wars music would punch in the second you fired up the game and set the mood straight away, everything was very easy to navigate - and also looked really classy.

The maps: bland and "small" feeling. In BF1 the maps had real scale to them, everything felt huge, and again, nailed that sense of being in the SW universe.

The campaign: the most boring, uninspired, feels-like-it's-been-built-by-an-inexperienced-company, single player campaign I've ever played. The story is average, at best, but the actual gameplay is literally; walk (not run)... shoot... cutscene. It's soooo easy and "vanilla." It also feels very clunky; the way the characters squat and move is laughable.

Progression system: simply put... horrible and unrewarding.

The reason I'd give this a 3 is the sound. The sound is in a whole different league. The guns feel like you're shooting a cannon, and the overall, sound effects are phenomenal.

Verdict: a huge, huge, disappointment. A real misstep. I honestly have no idea what they were thinking.

Disney needs to pull this title from these developers, only way I will ever play another Star Wars game in my life. As for EA and Dice, good luck getting another dollar from me. Will intentionally avoid games from these developers and others that endorse pay to win systems.

So overall, avoid this game and support titles that are not micro transactions mills. - One of the many angry gamers

EA is evil. Money is the only think they care for. Absolutley no respect to the players. You have to buy the game for 60$ and you will find out that the game has free to play style of multiplayer. If you want some card to upgrade you character you must buy a lootbox for real money in other case you have to play over 400 hrs to unlock all iteams.

first of all, yeah there are some elements of pay to win, but i don't feel bad about them (i did not invest anything outside the game price) they give an edge to player true but they are all unlock-able in-game just by playing.. same as plenty other games (i agree some free to play and what not) that said, i'm the kind of player that don't mind those because i know by investing time in thefirst of all, yeah there are some elements of pay to win, but i don't feel bad about them (i did not invest anything outside the game price) they give an edge to player true but they are all unlock-able in-game just by playing.. same as plenty other games (i agree some free to play and what not) that said, i'm the kind of player that don't mind those because i know by investing time in the game that the gap will end up vanishing. for the rest here is my review.

    Pro's
    - Graphics are Beautiful and Vibrant on Ps4 Pro and Frame-rate was solid for me so far.
    - Sound is "AMAZING" it brings the game together on every level.
    - Finally some Offline mode like we requested wen the first one came out. Granted Campaign is not
the best of the best but Still a great addition and pretty cinematic at that the take from an imperial
character over the story is interesting and even though the Sequence where we play other hero's
pale a bit they are still fun and give a small "Training session" on how to use their powers.
    - Online is Solid and well made, being able to exchange points gained in a Match to spawn as a hero
or a Special unit is gratifying and usually make a difference in the tide of combat which i appreciate

    Con's
    - Micro-transaction yeah they are a bit of a pain, but most the upgrade they give are incremental
and small, except for Star-fighter those become WOW....
    - Limited Hero selection at first, since we need to unlock them I've been in a Match of Hero's vs
Villain's where i had to quit because all my hero's were locked or already selected.

in the end, i'm giving it a 8/10
i'm Enjoying the Game even with the flaws, i'm happy all the DLC are going to be Free and that i'm saving the Stupid Season pass price, but the most important, i'm just plain having fun.

The entire blind loot box experience can be compared 1 to 1 with a modern day slot machine in its application of addiction creating and reinforcing psychological techniques: the flashy spectacle and visuals that entertain the player, the obfuscated odds that change without warning, the false wins, and free rolls to trigger dopamine release and continue a perpetual cycle. They can use your playing habits to analyze how frustrated they can make you before you quit and give you a bone right before you do to keep you playing; repeat for as long as possible to give more opportunities for you to spend. This is why slots are the biggest money maker in casinos, and why these greedy parasites are trying to copy them for video games.

It's also the definition of pay to win. The supertrooper elite bundle straight up makes you the best thing on 2 legs for the foreseeable future because you've got a massive head start (especially now that micro-transactions were disabled). Gear/power based progression has zero place in a competitive multiplayer game. I don't stop playing StarCraft for 3 weeks to come back and get pwned by people who have permanently levelled up their damage or gotten abilities I don't have access to yet.

Sorry EA, but the defence that "it's not gambling because you always get something out of a loot box" is complete horse crap because a slot machine that pays out less than you put in on every play is still gambling. If it looks like a duck, and acts like a duck, it's a duck.

Lets also not forget that the single player campaign is hugely buggy, and unfinished. They are withholding the ending of the campaign until The Last Jedi releases to prevent spoilers... which begs the question of why they didn't just wait to release the complete game for the holidays instead.

If we have to sacrifice Star Wars on the altar of common decency then so be it. This game needs to fail hard to send a message to the entire industry that these disgusting practices will not be permitted to continue. That's coming from a lifelong Star Wars fan that owns basically every Star Wars book ever written.

As a family focused company, Disney needs to revoke EA's license (or at the very least the exclusivity clause) so we can see someone with actual ethics and love for the IP and its community make a game actually worth supporting.

I don't think I can stand more of this garbage for 7 more years.

the way the micro-transactions operate is incredibly similiar to a 'skinner-box'. skinner was a psychologist whom did alot of research into behavior. they basicly (ab)used this knowledge to maximize profit without caring about the mental health or financial well-being of their customer's. i highly recommend to read more about the research done by the aforementioned psychologist so you can make an informed decision on what kind of games to buy since these practice's seem to become more and prevalent in video-games.

    now to talk about the game itself;

it's an upgrades version of battlefront(2015) in which it does alot of things better gameplay wise, and its graphic fidelity is also very pleasing to the eye's. i personally had a great time playing the beta, i especially liked that they included space-battle's and a campaign!
but even though i enjoyed the game and i am a huge star wars nerd i wont buy this game.

the fact that disney, a company which develops products mostly around children. actually green-light such a harmfull feature to be implemented in a game which revolve's around their intellectual property is absolutely shamefull!

I have played it within 10 hours EA Access trial. This is a game designed as Pay-to-Win. Just to discourage such a behaviour in 60$ game - I am giving it an 0 point user score.
I cannot accept pay-to-win approach in game I have to pay the full price.

You are all braindead mediazombies, if youd really care about that problem you wouldnt buy all the cod's all the destiny' s alle the fifa's... You so called "gamers" disgust me...

But back to the game, swbf2 is a major AAA title and one of the best gemes this year and perhaps one of the best shooters of all time, i spent 4 days in the game so far and already have all heros just by playing the game and earning credits trough multiplayer matcher, missions and the storymode, so no, you dont need to pay real money for your locked heros, just play the **** game like you would play any other gamey so 30% of the critics here are just stupid because they rely soley on the fact that you have to buy the locked heroes, this is just not true so the reviews on this are all useless!

The maps are amazing, big but well designed, quite detailed and the sound is just astonishing!
Overall the content is top notch and best of all, everything after that is free so no playerbase split due to a season pass or premium pass, thats how it should be

Even the damn starcards aint a problem, i didnt spent a cent of real money on the lootboxes and already got a decent amount of good starcards, the amount of starcards and the variation is also really good!
And a have a lot left so even after many hours of playing i can still earn cards and get rewarded for playing the game!

I didnt care about the story but after finishing the well told story of iden versio and her fight for the good i was quite impressed and hope they will continue this story in swbf3
I found all secrets and enjoyed the impressive levels, all in all it took me a bit over 6 hours to complete the story fully and this is mainly a online shooter, the story though is longer and better than in some other "only singleplayer story games"

Its good to see though that the community has finally come together and take a stand, but you chose the wrong game, dice didnt deserve that, almost 80% of what people tell you about he lootboxes, locked chars and pay to win just isnt true, dont believe that **** that seems to happen now every year to a certain randomly choosen game, focus on the games and publishers that really deserve such an **** ubisoft releases game after games and every game they release is crap and just built on lies, and noone gives a **** activision rapes the gamers financially every year, for years now and people buy cod like idiots, why?
Why is noone going to boycott those games and publishers?

I really hope swbf2 sells good even they have a hard time with uninformed gamers and youtubers who think the can make money for telling lies and earning clicks for their sefeinvented stories...

This needs no explanation. They ruined the potentially great game with a terrible business model and a buggy launch. They call all of this a service. That's not a service.
Service is like Splatoon or the witcher 3. Where there are no gold editions, no micro's.

I've had a great affinity Star Wars space battles since the Lucas Arts original X-Wing and TIE Fighter days. And as a young man, I watched the original Star Wars movie at my local theater 18 times and treasure my ticket stubs that I've kept all these years from that time. Of course I've seen all things Star Wars since then and perhaps am in the minority when I say that I even liked the prequel movies as well.

So it pains me to give this game a zero. To have to have my thoughts so radically skewed for a game that is so sublime in its creation and visual and gaming appeal has taken a great deal of effort on the part of its creators. The implementation of loot boxes in this game IS gambling. I don't have a problem with gambling. I don't have a problem with loot boxes. I don't even have a problem with "play to win". I can completely ignore these aspects of the game and still have fun. What I have a problem with is telling me it's not gambling when it clearly is. The mechanic is a game of chance that determines game-winning advantages. If that is not gambling, then I don't know what is. If you enjoy gambling, this is the game for you. For me, I'll pass.

I made an account to rate this game. EA has disgusting practices and is finally paying the price for it. Forcing players to play over 4,000 hours to unlock everything. Your choice to drop it by 75% and finally remove micro-transactions, for now, is not enough for me to buy this game. If not for the canceled pre-orders losing you money, you wouldn't have changed a damn thing. SCREW YOU EA.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
