EA have wrecked another game franchise, which is no surprise. Grinding to unlock crystals to unlock game characters shouldn't be anyones idea of fun, never mind the lootbox gambling and pay to win mechanics. Don't support this type of game, there are plenty of better games to spend your money on.

Way to go, EA. You killed video gaming. Pay to win is the future you have decreed. This means games are no longer games, by any reasonable definition of the term. Shame on you.

Pay to win trash. Those that pay into the loot crate system have an unfair advantage over everyone else in the game. EA is ruining all of my favorite franchises. This example of detestable business practices is a preview of what Anthem will be, what the next Dragon Age will be, and what the next Titanfall will be.

I feel like buying some EA stock just so I can go to their shareholder meetings and tell them what a bunch of slimy f*cks their executives are.

The game is great, gameplaywise and graphics are great.

But lootboxes in $60 game, which require about $2000 to unlock everything or over 150 DAYS of play time is BS.
Even worse is the fact that those lootboxes contain stuff that make you better, like 25% better turning on space ships and higher damage.

I felt it was written by an 8 yr old. The graphics in the campaign seemed dumbed down compared to MP. The HDR seemed turned off in the campaign in some places. Maps were way to tiny to enjoy the game at all. So linear that only small movement brought up an ‘out of bounds warning’ ruining gameplay. So with such miniature maps stealth and tactics is almost impossible.

No winter setting or Yoda in the campaign and no speeder bikes. Endor was so tiny and again that ruined the campaign for me. I felt the shooting was awkward and never felt comfortable with most guns except maybe a couple. Just way too linear and scripted for me to enjoy. No replayability at all.

Multiplayer. I paid A$99 for this game yet can’t use heroes of my choice until I unlock them? If I can I’ll try and get a refund. I don’t want to play MP with a character and weapons I don’t like and I think at least heroes should all come unlocked. Fair enough to earn abilities and weapon upgrades but characters are why we buy these games. Iconic characters like Rey and Yoda. Why do I have to play months to unlock them? Doesn’t my A$99 cover this?

Either give us what we’ve paid for or make the game freemium but what they’ve greedily done is make a full paid game with freemium in app purchases. This is nothing but CHEATING, LYING AND STEALING.

This is supposed to be a AAA title ONLY with ALL CONTENT INCLUDED but EA have created a AAA FREEMIUM game and they know it. They are pushing the boundaries to see just how far they can go.

How far the greedy gaming industry can go depends on YOU and just how much YOU stand up for your RIGHTS. For A$99 you are ENTITLED to a FULL GAME with FULL ACCESS to ALL CONTENT.

One day a group of gamers have to UNITE and file a LAW SUITE against these companies DOUBLE DIPPING to teach them all to back off and give us exactly what we pay for.

In the meantime DONT BUY any AAA tittles that charge AAA prices yet use FREEMIUM DOUBLE DIPPING MODELS TO UNLOCK CONTENT. EA laughably said they wanted us to feel pride we had earned our progress. What a lot of BULLDUST. All they want is $300, $400 from each of us for their games. Steve jobs started this IAP rubbish and I’ll never, ever forgive him. He’s ruined both the gaming and mobile gaming industry and turned it into a gambling casino.

ZERO FOR SINGLE PLAYER AND ZERO FOR MULTIPLAYER BASED ON GAMEPLAY MAINLY. way too linear, no speeder bikes. Where’s the snow? Very poor physics hardly any destruction. Can’t play as hero I like after playing A$99 is a rip off. Too many ‘out of bounds’ areas. Some maps seem to have HDR and others not. Cannot play MP as cannot play hero OF MY CHOICE after paying A$99 and I’m not going to play 40 hours to get the hero I like. I ALREADY PAID THE PRICE FOR ALL CONTENT BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT.

The game should NOT be locked behind a loot box system that almost forces you to pay real money. This practice must not be supported.

To promote a pay to win atmosphere where the player is heavily tempted to buy randomized loot crates which is glorified gambling. This is not the quality of a game that people should expect for a base game that has a 60$ minimum price tag yes, Minimum. That being said, the strength of the idea proves that the core mechanics does make for really fun game in spite of EA and Dice’s best efforts.
Yes, this is one of those hating on EA reviews and I am not going to dress it up as otherwise because while this game really SHOULD be a must buy and it’s clear EA and Dice have spent a lot of money and technological prowess on this game the sheer naked avarice and totally anti customer practices by dragging in the worse pay to win and mobile gaming’s physiological tricks to try and induce children to develop a gambling habit and milk those most vulnerable players into those much sought after transaction whales by making the game so mindboggling frustrating to play unless you carry on with the fee to play investments like making it so you would have to spend a working week grinding to get to play Darth Vader.
Yep that’s right, unless you carry on spending in already full price game, the key characters to even the battle out will be locked behind nigh impossible grind and you will lose to those who will just drop money to unlock them.

It is commonplace that the vast majority of microtransaction income comes from a very small minority of gamers who spend insane amounts, not because they are rich, but because they are addicted or probably unable to keep track of how much they spend. This is morally unaccaptable. Everybody who contributed to this in any way, either directly or by giving a favorable score as a reviewer must be ashamed of themselves. This. Is. Very. Wrong. If you work for EA, if you work for a company that works for EA, consider this.

And don't even get me started about paying full AAA price for a game and being expected to keep paying. Do not touch games like this with a ten foot pole. Please, let's stop this from happening together.

EA hasn't gotten the message. Do your part. Vote with your hard earned money. The devs, the designers, the testers are innocent, but if the folks who run the company are poor stewards of the IP they're granted, you can't fix that, you can't change that. The only thing that makes people who have too much money and power change their mind is to lose it.

Unfortunately, the method by which EA has chosen to monetize future development will ensure that there isn't much of a player base to fragment anyway. So... Great job, EA...?

This is a terrible game for many reasons:

    1) Boring, disjointed single player campaign. Also, it takes about 4 hours to complete. Shooter single player campaigns are short, but this may be a new record. 2) Gunplay is poor. 2) Gunplay is poor. I'd take a Destiny, CoD, Battlefield, etc, over the gunplay in this game without hesitation.

    3) Map design mechanics are poor. Take Galactic Assault. It's this huge map, but they artificially constrain you into a small part of it at a time. And, it's a different constraint for each side, so players can shoot you and you can't reach them because the game will tell you to turn around (this is mostly beneficial to Specialists who snipe). It's an absurd game design that also prevents flanking maneuvers and makes these 20 v 20 battles nothing but funneled, linear, zerg rush like head to head battering rams.

    3) No character customization. No choice in gender. No skins. Nada. Zip.

    4) Progression via lootboxes. This alone should make this game a 0. But, the game itself is pretty mediocre even without this terrible progression system.

Anyone who purchases this game is akin to those people who supported the Nazis because at least their flags looked pretty.

we even begin to see this type of thing creep more and more into single player games. so youre paying 60 dollars for a game, but to unlock the entire content, you have to pay countless dollars more into what clearly is a gambling system. WHEN WE PAY 60 DOLLARS WE EXPECT TO GET EVERYTHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE GAME. STOP BEING GREEDY YOU MORONS OR YOULL KILL THE BUSINESS.

sure, paying more money towards a game after the initial purchase has been a thing for a while now, what with dlc and things like that. but dlc is SEPERATELY DEVELOPED ADDITIONAL CONTENT THAT GIVES PLAYERS MORE OF WHAT THEY ALREADY LOVE. that is the concept. you give them a great game, and then and ONLY then do you have to audacity to ask them for more of their hard earned cash.

the video game industry is currently a toilet. a big dump sits smack in the middle floating in the water, WE CAN FLUSH IT AWAY. together. but only together. weve seen the result of our work with this game, changes are being made, but we have merely won a battle. not the war. these changes dont mean total victory. not even close. we have to push until this turd goes away ENTIRELY.

great games with great potential are being bogged down by these slimy greedy money grabbing systems that, as i said before, are even finding a way into singleplayer titles. SINGLE PLAYER TITLES. this must stop now. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, DO NOT BUY SHADOW OF WAR IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY. DO NOT SUPPORT THESE BLOODSUCKING CRETINS. DO NOT SHOW THEM THAT WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS OK.

it ends now. if it doesnt, video games will lose what they once were, what they once meant to us all. weve already seen the evolution of these loot systems and microtransactions. they started off as quiet and subtle, and slowly have crept up, turning into PAY TO F***ING WIN, ON 60 DOLLAR TITLES.

IF YOU BUY THIS YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK TO OUR CHILDRENS GENERATION. THEY WILL NOT SHARE THE FOND MEMORIES OF VIDEOGAMES THAT WE ARE ABLE TO.

The P2W progression system carelessly shoved into the core of this game is the prime example of everything wrong with EA's business model and the direction of the gaming industry in general. I wish I could give the game a negative rating, but 0 will have to do. Do not buy this game if you have any integrity whatsoever.

I don't care that they've already dropped the costs associated with unlocking the most expensive characters (Vader, etc), because the root of the issue is still front and center; paying anything above $60 for the baseline content of the game is unacceptable and driven by corporate greed. It's evident that EA cares nothing for their player-base, because if they did, they wouldn't be nickel-and-diming us the way they currently are in SWBF II. To keep it PG - Shame on you, EA. ” Expand

Excellent online action offers hours of Stormtooper-shooting fun, but the so-so campaign stumbles, while cynical loot crates leave a sour taste. [Jan 2017, p.83]

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.

Although game has huge problems with p2w microtransactions, it is still a good and fun gameplay experience with stunning visuals.
