To start off I will primarily talk about the game itself and not loot boxes. But before that, the game is heavily revolved around these crappy loot boxes which make going against people feel unbalanced and basically cheating, especially in heroes vs villains and starfighter assault modes. You can tell there was no balance for these modes with the star cards. Now for the game itself, IT ISTo start off I will primarily talk about the game itself and not loot boxes. But before that, the game is heavily revolved around these crappy loot boxes which make going against people feel unbalanced and basically cheating, especially in heroes vs villains and starfighter assault modes. You can tell there was no balance for these modes with the star cards. Now for the game itself, IT IS HORRIBLY BORING! this game is more boring than the first EA battlefront game! The newly added singleplayer is so predictable and boring, I ask my self why even bother to add it in the first place! Multiplayer.....OMFG, it is so lazy, unbalanced, boring, repetitive, and grindy. The maps get old instantly, I got bored of the game in less than 3 hours! The voice acting for Luke Skywalker, Leia and for Han is SO BAD! Lets also not forget how horrible Luke Skywalker is modeled. This game has very little effort even put into it, Don't just blame EA and LucasArts for this game blame DICE as well because they primarily try to make an excuse for no customization in this game when they can quite clearly make certain trooper types canon, Example they made stormtrooper shock troopers and shadow troopers canon! The last thing is you die SO....FAST it is unbelievable the combat in the OG battlefront is preferred just because you stay alive for much longer than you do in this game, the average lifespan of a trooper is an estimated of 6 seconds a pilot is estimated to be about 2 seconds. The only reason I give this game A 2/10 is that the clone wars voice acting is wonderful! The voice acting for Boba and Yoda is great, nice graphics and sound (which doesn't really mean anything to me since A. its a star wars game and B. its made by DICE having good graphics and sound is to be expected), please for the love of god if you want to play an ACTUALLY GOOD star wars game go on steam or GOG and get the OG battlefront games, the jedi outcast games, republic commando, and/or KOTOR(knights of the old republic) becuase at least games were not made by and for hyper active kids who have the attention span of a fly. One of the biggest disappointments to video gaming ever, I was so excited about this one until they ruined it with loot boxes and greedy p2w garbage.

This game is solid but ultimately flawed. While the game, which is graphically stunning, has many overall improvement compared to it predecessor, the introduction of loot boxes and allowing players who are willing to pay a clear advantage, has negated any improvements made and ultimately ruined what could have been a solid addition to the Star Wars Battlefront series.

Star Wars Battlefront 2, is of course the sequel to the online only star wars battlefront, but this time it adds a campaign, and boy is it disappointing…
Before I start, I’m going to make it clear that I’m not a star wars fan…
I’m reviewing this game as a game.. license unattached…
And if you’re not a star wars fan, this 4 and a half hour long campaign is a gigantic waste of your time.
This is easily the most generic garbage I’ve ever suffered through...
IT plays, is delivered, and feels like a 2010 ps3 game…
The campaign tells the story of Iden Versio mostly... though not primarily…
Infact half of the time not at all…
You get a bit of a perspective of the dark side, as shes the commander of the inferno squad
but the game make a huge mistake of following different paths of multiple heroes... characters you know...
minor spoilers, but youll be light sabering it up which was easily my favorite parts of this campaign…
And these great moments are interrupted with space battles that go on way too long and an uninspired least fun of all time linear 3rd person shooting adventure where you can play around with the idea of cards.. As every hero you play in the campaign has their own special moves on a cool down they can use... but as iden you can swap these cards for different grenade tpyes for example... or perk like health regeneration and shield...
I found the campaign to be a great way to introduce the mechanics of the online and for that reason is worth checking out… but nothing more as it’s just a bunch of shoot everything in your way while you get to a checkpoint, and defending positions while an npc interacts with an item… that’s it..
There are a few okay missions here and there… but none of them are ever fun... at all...
Again if you’re not a star wars fan just use it as a tutorial mode and get out of there...
There’s no fun, no meaningful story... theres nothing here…
Though completing the campaign does reward you with credits and loot boxes to give you a little head start online...
Thankfully the online unlike the campaign is fun and is this games saving grace
Online features 5 different modes, the 2 big ones 40 player classic assault which is objective based of defending and attacking positions or items and there’s the 24 player Starfighter assault, which is a bit like classic but in space…
these 2 game modes aren’t really what I enjoy in competitive modes and had me more frustrated with the pay to win feel of the game where players can all have more powerful cards, and again with 40 players running around you’re going to die pretty quickly in this mode if you’re a newbie..
You’re better off building yourself up in the other 3 modes first and coming back to these 2 later
I was afraid I was going to tear this game apart in my review until I played these much smaller game modes there’s blast with is 20 player call of duty style team death match, 16 player strike which is another objective based game mode,
All 4 of these modes you’ll be getting kills and earning points to bring in support from heroes and star craft to clean house and potentially turn the tables in a losing battle…
and then there’s my personal favorite 8 player heroes vs villains… where there is no saving up points..
Everyone starts as a hero character and it’s a game of attacking targets while defending your team mate…
This mode is a blast to me, and by itself changed my overall opinion of this game..
Everyone feels over powered... it’s just a matter of who can use their powers the best...
The controversy of this game comes mostly in the microtransactions which are currently disabled...
But there is a loot crate system where you can buy crates with credits earned in game from clearing challenges and finishing matches… and in these crates are cards, credits, and crafting materials…
Cards are bonuses you can attach to your characters... and this is what makes the game feel pay to win…
Your characters don’t get stronger by you using them.. They only get stronger by luck of the drawn…
Though you are able to craft cards of your choice with the crafting parts you earn and you can increase the power of these cards with these parts... though these are a bit rare
I don’t find these cards to be as big of an issue in smaller modes oddly because I feel youre given more space to rely on your skill as a player…
But in the larger modes youll definitely notice the buffed up players as their cards flash across your screen while theyre killing you over and over again with their upgraded grenades and turrets…
    its annoying..
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a bit of a let down to me, and im not even a star wars fan…
But there is fun to be had here in its online.. Especially in its smaller modes...
I give Star Wars Battlefront 2
    a 6.5/10

DICE did a fantastic job but EA came along and jammed their fat money grubbing fingers into the game. It's so obvious where their influence lay. It's pretty disgraceful how they tried to turn a 60-70 dollar game into a Game as a service or use a freemium model without the free. Listen I understand in order to keep the games the same price they need to recoup their costs but this is not the way to do it though.

    1. This game absolutely NEEDS a conquest mode. It will add a ton of variety and replay value. PLEASE DICE! I know you can do it. (if this game had Conquest, I would give it an 8)
    2. More optimization for weapons. More weapons in general would be nice, but I think those are coming in the future.
    3. The ability to spawn on teammates and more abilities that help other teammates for classes besides the officer. I haven't really thought of it, but for example, the Assault class, when using Vanguard, could also speed boost the people around him.

I don't really have a problem with the current unlock system. Paying to be able to unlock a hero is a bit sketchy though, but you do already have half or more of the heroes already unlocked and ready to play. When I was reading comments about how random the unlocks are and as you play one class, you unlock star cards for other classes, I was not happy about it at all. After playing the game for a while though, it doesn't bother me. The reason this doesn't bother me is because you get a lot of crafting tokens that will allow you to unlock whichever star card you want, given you are high enough level for it. This makes the star cards you get from the loot crates just an added bonus. The amount of crafting points you get should probably go up.

However, that being said, there should absolutely be some kind of skin unlocks and character appearance customization.

Also, playing the class you want will unlock weapons for that class as well as mods for those weapons.

The gameplay is a lot of fun so far. Galactic Assault can be a bit one sided a lot of the time, but that can be fixed with an update. I have only experience a few glitches and some lag, but overall the game feels great. Everything feels smooth and if you ever played Battlefield 3, 4 or 1, you know that it is a damn miracle that this game plays as well as it does at launch.

I'm not saying everyone else is wrong, these are just my thoughts to someone that is on the fence about getting the game.

Although the developers have recently suspended the pay-to-win aspects of the game, I have a feeling that they've done so just to limit the damage it would have caused to sales during the Christmas season, and will likely re-instate it once they feel like the controversy has receded. I'm giving it a '2' instead of a '0' because I do find some of the game play to be entertaining, but this could have easily been a '10' if EA hadn't spoiled it.

This game is the epitome of years of corporate greed, customer exploitation and worst of all, taking advantage of people's love for things.

Pay2Win is an absolute deal killer for me no matter how small the microtransaction.

I don't think i need to explain why I give it a 0. But in short, the game locked many of the main characters at first and you need to grind to unlock them. Which is NOT a problem. The problem? But guess what, you are very much welcome, or should I say, strongly incentivize, to pay to unlock, because, well, that CAP to make multiplayer a fair playground is GONE if you PAY.

To be honest, I sense this game is a trap when they say the expansion will be free. But hell I really didn't expect to see they make such an ugly PR stunt show on reddit.

I always remind myself don't be a guy who's happy to see other suffer. But hell you have no idea how happy I am seeing EA failed big time like this.

What would have been an otherwise alright game, an improvement on the first but still not perfect, EA got greedy and in its quest to grab as much money as possible from fans of Star Wars and DICE's work they decided to ram a pay to win 'freemium' loot box economy into a full priced game, locking important content behind paywalls or lengthy unrewarding playtime, SHAME ON YOU EA!!

    + Gameplay
    + Graphic
    + Sound
    + Fun
    + Immersion
+ Lot of content (Starfighter Assault could be a separate game)
+ Campigan mission played as Iden Versio
    + Free DLC

    - Progression in the game could be faster.
    - Missions in campigan playd as heroes (Luke, Lando, Leia, Han) are boring, and do not fit the story.

Are here any people who really playd this game?
Well, it's really cool and entertaining, every battle (on ground or in space) looks like movie, the campaing extends sw univerce and tells us a soulful story of average soldiers.
Those whining guys, who place "0" or "1" probably didnt play game at all. Thank you dice, motive and criterion for your good job.

overpriced triple A title, intentionally not complete, full of bugs and glitches, a shame for a franchise named Star Wars. It is just an evil scheme for money and EA greed, in some sort of speaking it is a brilliant evil gambling scheme but not worthing even a penny or 10/100.
Do not be tricked by EA manipulative scheme, nor as a gamer, nor as a Star Wars fan.
big zero from my point of view.

The game is OK, not the most original or inspired thing for DICE, but it could be enjoyable, especially if you are into Star Wars. But the EA business model is outrageous. Very disappointing.

I give it 0 on pay2win schemes, we already pay +/- 60$ for the game on ps4, just give what we pay for for just play the game full without any constraint, and give the access to grind whatever we want on arcade mode, or maybe i would give more user score if ea gives me a bit coin ? I'm going to be removed from the media frenzy and review this game with the intent to ignore the issues of the micro-transactions and loot boxes.

First off, the loot boxes... OK just kidding. I said I'd ignore them and I will, but they suck.

The issues with this game stems from the idea of making you feel like aren't doing something right. With the intent of ground combat putting each player into the middle of a chaotic war zone. The game lacks the concept of truly narrowing down to focus of equipment, weaponry and situational awareness.

Now, I understand that many people thoroughly enjoy the chaotic war zones and I love it myself. However, the main issue is that the maps are either too large or too narrow. With some maps only having 2-3 entrances to an objective or others having 15 entrances to an objective. You feel either clustered or experience a sense of ADHD as you're unable to focus on one particular enemy with the worry about 10 other enemies shooting you from behind. It turns a fun-filed battle experience. Into a grenade throwing fest vs having to check your 6 every 2 seconds.

As for space combat, this is where the game really shines. I actually enjoy the space combat and though it feels kind of clunky at times. The overall graphics and environments are beautiful. With the sounds and music to match the battle that you're in the middle of. You feel immersed to the point where the other issues with the game kind of fade away. Giving you a taste of enjoyment for your $60+ purchase.

To finish off this review. With the intent of ignoring the micro-transactions that have been temporarily removed. My biggest issue with this game is progression. As you finish each match. You'll notice that the credits you receive vs the credits you should receive in order to progress accordingly. Aren't exactly remotely close to one another. Honestly, they aren't even in the same gosh darn ball park.

For when the matches draw to a close and you see the 150-380 or so credits rewarded to you. You look at your total count and wonder why the heck you need 4,000 in order to potentially progress your favorite class. Not only is your progression locked by chance, but it takes such a long time to acquire the 4,000 credits time after time again in order to progress. You start to feel annoyed and lose that sense of enjoyment from the game. For when you're in a match and you have a Bounty Hunter star card giving you a few extra points. You'll be shot in the face by a guy with a legendary star card that makes him the most OP guy around. Some stand offs that I've succumb to on occasion. Might as well have been me with a kitchen knife vs a guy with a 50 cal. machine guy behind a barricade.

So in the end, I'll be honest and say that the game isn't worth your 60+ dollars. It's more of a $30 game that looks aesthetically beautiful. With combat being as clunky and annoying as it is currently and the only thing really being of interest is the space combat. You don't feel like you're having a "great time" with the game as you do with others. There's very few times that I've walked away from this game and just felt that sense of enjoyment. It's more like a feeling that I wasted 3 hours grinding for nothing.

PS, the campaign was terrible. I don't even want to discuss it I disliked it so much. Whoever created the pacing of that story should be given in a lesson in story telling. The whole campaign is just one big mistake after another. I'll just leave it at that.

I've put about 40 hours in, its a good looking game. Real problem with progression is you need crafting parts, everything else in crates is worthless. You get 35 to 50 parts per crate, 40 80 160 480 is what each level of star card takes to craft. If your duplicate cards gave you crafting parts it would be tolerable but they give you a tiny amount of credits so your never progressing much.I've put about 40 hours in, its a good looking game. This is one of the lowest point of AAA games. What EA did to Andromeda, NFS and now this is unacceptable. Gamer's need to take a stand with pay-to-play games. I was so psyched for this game, but as the release date got closer I got the details on the paid loot system. I am disappointed and will not pay for a game that encourages paid content in the magnitude that this game does.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
