EA's masterpiece: pay real money if you wish to win. Disgusting, I really hope EA closes down. worse game ever.

Needs more variety of heroes. Why is there no Obi Wan, Ashoka, Grievous, Dooku etc?
Not a massive fan of pay to win, but I preferred the old upgrade system.
Other than that it’s a great game and a visual masterpiece

Oh hell!EA just ruined another great game!Really i hate this greedy company!First of all they destroyed Dragon age doing Inquisition. After first dragon age with dlc i have played inquisition with tears in my eyes.Boring atmosphere, nothing new,the same quests...I have started this game again and again but i cant played much because of boredom. After few attempts i deleted this game from my ps4 and i will never return. After that i have expected another great game - Mass effect.Truly great story with very picturesque character - captain Shepard.Great story, interesting quests, system of exploration. It would seem that the game just can not be spoiled. But congratulations EA!You have done it.You released this sorry game Andromeda. This is not mass effect at all.Boring storyline, poor graphics, all planets looks like the same except weather conditions.Same bosses stupid architects everywhere, you even dont have to change your tactics to defead them. And final boss? Its giant rat?
Pregnant Troll?Or emoboy with pink hair? No!This is stupid architect once again!I feel very sorry for wasted money. And after all this you have ruined another great game,Battlefront 2.I want to really buy it but i cant because of this lootboxes. This is spittle in the face of the gaming community!Only more or less good game from EA its Battlefield 1.But it's a drop in the ocean.Gaming community will win!Boycott EA!Play another good games from another more smarter developers!P.S.Sorry for my English its really bad,im living in another country and dont know this language good enough.I gave them one point because of good dice graphics.

The epitome of greed. Sure, it looks pretty, the game play is fine, and it has the "Star Wars" name, but if you buy this game, you are continuing to send a message to EA that ridiculously over-priced and predatory microtransactions are okay for a game you already paid $60 for, and therefore should have access to most (if not all) of the content within a reasonable time-frame. I don'tThe epitome of greed. I don't care that they've already dropped the costs associated with unlocking the most expensive characters (Vader, etc), because the root of the issue is still front and center; paying anything above $60 for the baseline content of the game is unacceptable and driven by corporate greed. It's evident that EA cares nothing for their player-base, because if they did, they wouldn't be nickel-and-diming us the way they currently are in SWBF II. To keep it PG - Shame on you, EA.

I doubt much is going to change as a result of the backlash EA is facing because the game will still sell well. Many people (parents, aunts/uncles, whatever) buying gifts for loved ones over the holidays will be ignorant to this whole ordeal and purchase this game for sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and so on. Die-hard SW fans will make the purchase because of their love of the universe. And of course, there's always the "ride or die" EA fanboy that could care less about this controversy and would follow EA into the jaws of Hell for whatever reason. But please, as a member of the ever-increasing gaming community, I beg of you to really consider the company behind the game and the brand, because the best way to send a clear message is to refrain from opening your wallet/purse to reward such an inexcusable practice.

Edit: I decided to purchase the game for $20 on sale after EA announced that there would be no MTX's beyond cosmetic ones and experience gained is traditional in the sense that you level up the characters you play. Overall, the game is really good! I really enjoyed the base campaign (the story, gunplay, lightsaber play, space fighting, etc). Looks great and plays great. Hoping to spend more time in MP, which is clearly where the game shines, but very happy with the fact that EA came around to what the people deserve in a AAA game. And it's important to give credit where it is due!

People should give this game another chance because they fixed all of the issues added a progression system that is good, all star cards are gained from playing the game not from loot boxes, and finally loot crates are optional they are only for emotes and victory poses.

Sure, this got taken out and has been made better to be cosmetic only. But that is only after Disney threatening to pull their license and the threat of legislation looming over their business model like a guillotine. I'm sick and tired of EA and other publishers pulling this crap. The AAA industry needs to learn a lesson, but it's not going to happen if people keep defending EA because of the fact that they have a franchise they like. ALL gamers have to band together and take a hard stance on this. Loot-boxes don't have a place in games that charge an entry fee period imo. EA doesn't care about it's player-base, they only see you as a dollar amount. And if it's not at least the least in the 4 digit range, they won't actually listen to you. They'll lie in your face and claim that they're listening, but they are not... Those people that are defending EA, wake up from your fantasy dream world, EA is exploiting you. Stop letting them get away with it. I am boycotting EA until they prove that they're going to change for the better. Expand

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is perhaps the most conflicted I've ever felt about a video game.

The multiplayer is fun. It's not the next Overwatch, there's not much depth to it, but it keeps you entertained. There's even a single player campaign this time. It's pretty mediocre, but it's better than nothing.

If that's all there was to it, this game would be a solid 8/10 in my book, but as I'm sure you've heard, the game follows a pay-to-win microtransaction model. Those who forked over real money got better cards right off the bat - cards that give you a blatant and unfair advantage. EA pulled the plug and you're no longer allowed to buy loot boxes, but in their wake they've left a progression system built around their money-grubbing scheme that's incredibly harsh and unfair to those who haven't paid for microtransactions (which is now everyone).

I want to love this game, and I still have bouts of fun with it here and there, but I can't recommend you buy it. Once EA "fixes" the progression things might change, but I think the damage is already done. There's always Battlefront 2005...

The game was made so that you spend just long enough on it that you won't get a refund. single player was ok, slightly boring. multiplayer should not even have been attempted. you have extremely boring combat, with no skill required (outside of the capability to shoot your weapon and hit the target) on nearly every level you are forced into small areas when you run up, shoot, maybe kill someone, then get shot *dead* respawn and repeat. there is no variance, there is no variety, there is nothing exciting about that what so ever. EA hasn't gotten the message. Do your part. Vote with your hard earned money. The devs, the designers, the testers are innocent, but if the folks who run the company are poor stewards of the IP they're granted, you can't fix that, you can't change that. The only thing that makes people who have too much money and power change their mind is to lose it.

STAR WARS Battlefront II is the sequel to the $120 Star Wars Battlefront 2015. While EA says that this game had alot more content than 2015 Battlefront, it really doesn't. Sure, it has more maps but none of these mals are really good. Simple features like selecting what map you want to play on, customize your soldier, are all gone. Instead you get to play a random map and everyone looks the same.

There are cosmetic options in the game, but these are exclusive to Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Kylo Ren and Rey. With cosmetic items for regular soldiers like the Officer, is hidden from the player.

The game in unbalanced, you can get killed in 1 shot across the map by Leia. The game features P2W starcards which you can in lootboxes, (half the time you just get duplicates or starcards for a Hero/Villain that you don't even have). This of course makes the game even more unbalanced, for example Chewbacca can stun you and then kill you in a couple of shots.

EA's reason for not making the lootboxes cosmetic only is because, and I quote "Nobody wants a pink Darth Vader". This is the worst excuse I have ever heard, plently of people wants a pink Darth Vader. Plus, if you don't want to add a pink Darth Vader, then don't add a pink Darth Vader. Add cosmetic options for the Soldiers and Heroes/Villains. As I said, there are already cosmetic options in the game, EA is just hiding them from you.

While the game doesn't feature a $50 Season Pass or DLCs, it featured microtransactions (Which EA removed but will add later on).

Please do not make the same mistake as I did. DO NOT BUY THIS $60 UNFINISHED, UNBALANCED, BUGGY, LAGGY, P2W PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A STAR WARS GAME!

If you love Star Wars then I recommend you to buy and play the classic Star Wars Battlefront 2. The classic game offers so much more than this abomination. This game became a disaster because of the greedy EA making you pay more which is unnecessary and not listening to the fans on what they want. I wont hate harshly about the online shenanigans as it hopefully will improve over time but also as i bought this game with the hope of a thrilling story and to relive some old memories of the originals through arcade mode, oh how i was disappointed.

The graphics were lovely and the voice acting felt on par to that of the films, but the rest was somewhat lacking. First there is offline arcade mode, I'm someone who devotes time into single player games and doesn't care much for online. So when i heard that this game had offline game modes i was already dreaming about the large scale maps and different classes, but that was not the case.

Jumping into arcade mode was less than appealing and game play didn't make up for it, to start there are limited maps and i mean about 5 compared to that of say that of Battlefront 2 (the one from 2005) that had loads of maps to play and all sorts of game modes. so with being generous i gave the Theed palace map ago (bear in mind i had completed the story and the mission on the Theed/Naboo map), but oh was it disappointing, limited and enclosed and nothing to make it feel like a large scale battle, and the other maps followed suit.

So arcade mode was upsetting, but the story has to be good right, wrong. Lets just say your better off buying a Ps2 and playing the original Battlefront and its sequel rather than dishing out some money form a game that cant even hold a candle to the classics.

On a final note, its a shame that large money grabbing companies like EA, spend a few months to make a less than half decent game just so they can profit from it, if they spent a couple of years developing this game and support both online and offline players then maybe we would have something that players and fanatics of the franchise can enjoy, but as long as money is the driving force that will only live in memory.

An awful and confusing progression system, poor splitscreen modes, a very short multiplayer that isn't very good, and many bugs. On the other hand, it's much better than its previous entry in the series, and the new class based system works well. The map variety is great and it sounds and looks (largely) stunning. The only thing holding back this game from being a great game is **** EA.

Now campaign the last thing i never did the campaign but seen vids about it i dont want to spoil anything about the story incase anyone wants to play it but the story from what i seen is OK to bad it not worth what i seen i heard it repetitive and the marketing for the campaign was a lie it spoilers to say what it was so i wont say it but the campaign your choice if u want to do it or not. that is all i have to say about this game i gave it a 7 cause me and my brothers play it alot and i think it fun with friends it will never beat the old BF2 but still a fun game has alot problems that depends on the person to ignore or not 7.0 for me i hope this review helps u want to buy the game or not Expand

Star Wars Battlefront II is a very underrated game. It's really not that bad. EA and DICE clearly took fan feedback seriously and gave us a Star Wars game with all eras and an excellent single player campaign. While there are occasional glitches and a few flaws, its a good game overall.

Multiplayer Content: Battlefront II's multiplayer modes feature maps from many planets across all eras. In terms of content, there are unfortunately far fewer multiplayer game modes than the first game. The modes the game does have, however, are a lot of fun. Like in the previous game, you have Blast, where two teams simply try to kill each other. There is also Strike, which features objective based battles. My personal favorite is Starfighter Assault which has objective based space battles that are much better than the first game. Finally, there is Heroes Vs Villains, an epic game mode where two small groups of your favorite movie characters fight. The main thing I really don't like about the game modes is that they don't relate to any of the movies. It would be really cool to have a multiplayer space battle where you get to blow up the Death Star like in the first game. Also, you don't get to chose which map you play on, which is a huge disappointment.

Game Mechanics: The new Battlepoints system is a huge pro to this game. In the first game, you could only play as heroes by finding hero pickups, which were very difficult to get ahold of. Battlefront II fixed this flaw with Battlepoints, points you earn while playing online that you can redeem to play as a hero or to hop in a Starfighter or tank. The only little flaw with this system is that the heroes are too expensive, in my opinion. In terms of controls and combat, it is more or less the same as the first game. The only main difference is in Starfighter Assault where they got rid of the targeting computer for primary weapons, making it more challenging to kill. I love this because you actually have to AIM while firing on other ships: it is more realistic. Like in the last game, you get Star Cards for each character to give them added abilities. The bad thing about this is that you can only get Star Cards from Loot Crates, which are way too expensive. Another flaw with this is that if you get a Star Card for a hero, you needed to have unlocked that hero to equip it. The fact that you have to unlock heroes is bad enough, but at least make them cheap: it costs thousands of credits just to unlock one hero. Not only do you have to unlock heroes, you also have to unlock blasters: you can't just buy them like in the last game. With all these flaws in gameplay, you don't progress very much in the game.

Arcade: In addition to the campaign, you can also play the arcade by yourself or with a friend. The arcade unfortunately only features 2 single player modes, 2 co-op modes, and not enough maps. Playing by yourself, you can be a hero and go up against how every many enemies you want or you can fight in team battles. In co-op, you can do a team battle or a duel between 2 heroes. The only other thing the arcade has is Battle Scenarios, a list of different battles you can fight in across all eras with lots of characters.

Single Player Campaign: My favorite part of Battlefront II has to be the addition of a story mode. In the campaign, you usually play as Inferno Squad leader Iden Versio with the exception of a few missions that you play as movie characters. The story basically tells you what happens between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, which I have always wondered about. In terms of difficulty, there are 3 different difficulty settings that you can change at any time to get the optimal gameplay experience.

    Pros:
    - Graphics look almost like real life
    - Excellent single player campaign
    - Gameplay across all eras
    - New Starfighter mechanics
    - The Battlepoints system
    - The new Heroes Vs Villains multiplayer game mode
    - New patches and DLCs
    Cons:
    - Not enough multiplayer game modes
    - Lack of movie-related gameplay
    - Not enough arcade modes
    - Lack of ability to chose which maps you play online
    - Poor progression system
    - Restricted heroes and weapons
    - Occasional glitches

Verdict: Overall, Battlefront II is an improvement in some ways, but also a regression in other ways. The game is certainly a lot of fun, and I'm sure it will only get better with updates and DLCs. The amount of flaws in the game, however, limit Battlefront II to being a "good" game at best.

    Scores:
    Graphics/Sound - 5/5
    Gameplay - 5/5
    Gameplay Mechanics - 2/5
    Content - 3/5

My biggest complain with the campaign is the character development, which is often quite rushed. Because of that I never really cared about the character.

The multiplayer on the other hand is actually quite fun. There are six multiplayer game modes. Galactic Conquest is the biggest and the most fun game mode, with everything the game has to over. That includes hero’s and vehicles. However this game made has some issues with map balance, but over time this seems to be improving. Starfighter Assault is fantastic, the flying mechanics have been changed by quite a lot when compared to the previous installations of this franchise. In Battlefront (2015) I really disliked the flying, but in this game I think it’s really good and really enjoyable. Heroes vs Villains is really fun, getting used to the heroes may take some time, but when you’re used to them this game mode is a blast. The last two are strike and blast, which are quite the standard game modus and they work just fine.

The progression system in this game isn’t that good, but people are starting to figure out how to work with it. However I do fear that if microtransactions return that the game will be less fun. In general I enjoy playing this game with some friends, however I don’t advise people to pay full price for this game. I’ve bought it with a discount for €30, which is in my opinion a fair price for a new copy of this game.

The removal of microtransactions brought forward how terrible the underlying system was made (most likely to benefit the microtransaction model) and has not been fixed. Pass on this for a few months at least to see if things get better, or if its a trap.

What the f*ck? The first game's pay to win mechanics were unbearable, with half of the stuff locked without any way to access it within the normal game. This game's loot boxes don't even compare to that in my opinion, but the **** AI in the campaign along with the lazy server quality makes this another No Man's Sky. Go throw yourselves into a car fire, EA.

Before reading the reviews I thought "is this the same hype that Battlefront 1 received" - which I very much enjoyed.

Firstly the good - graphics are great, sounds are great, the characters they included in this game are also great. Also the menu selection screens are quite beautiful. That's all that comes to mind.

On to the bad, and I'll list these by numbers in no particular order:

    1. The game is initially very confusing, the objectives, the different types of vehicles, how the different weapons operate, how and when to use different vehicles, how to strategically approach different objectives.
    2. The skins for this game are HORRIBLE. the robot troopers (whatever they are called, the thin ones) are almost impossible to see, providing a massive advantage to the robot army. Also the Empire has an officer, female in uniform, which looks exactly like a Rebel skin. Very confusing, and frustrating.
    3. The weapons feel very under powered. Thermal detonators are useless, most of the base guns are horrible. Some of the special effects are OK. The game feels incredibly unbalanced. You might spawn as Chewbacca for example after 5 minutes of grinding in a game, and you get killed by a lowly robot trooper played by some level 20 nerd who's upgraded everything, in a few milliseconds. Obviously not all of the weapons are underpowered, but the base weapons are all very very weak. Most explosive weapons are also very weak. The game highly favours top end "unlocks"
    4. The waiting times are annoying.
    5. The "squad" feature is weak and annoying. Encourages camping. Punishes people who push ahead and try to flank. If you are an "assault flanker" type gamer, this really sucks hard. Even the inclusion of jet packs doesn't really fix the problem. Mobility feels bad
    6. Most of the map designs are pretty poor, the death star one is OK. There are unfinished edges and bits that stick out of some areas, and "stuck in the wall syndrome" is alive and well. poorly tested levels.
    7. I don't think the game was tested at all, its extremely unbalanced beyond any other game I've ever played online. I'm not a professional gamer, but I'm a very solid BF1 (battlefront and battlefield) player, and in a recent game I only managed to get 3 kills in about an hour. The game heavily favours the stacked team, and people with significantly powerful unlocks. There are also lots of cheap "tricks" that experienced players will drain for all they are worth to get quick easy kills. In this sense the game was over-designed, but in all the wrong ways.
    8. The hero's are pretty much limited to seasoned regular (full time/unemployed) gamers who manage to get the battle points high enough. AND, they are hugely overpowered compared to Battlefront 1 - where they were well balanced. AND you will encounter them pretty regularly because of this terrible game mechanic. Map based pickups were far superior in this sense.
    9. The weapon drop off damage is all messed up, shooting people up close offers little advantages, get prepared to die a lot getting shot by a full-time gamer with all the unlocks sitting behind a bush 1km away.
    10. I've yet to understand this game. This is more of a personal gripe against the game. All previous styles of strategy have so far failed to work in this game. Flanking doesnt work because of how the opposition spawns, and the underpowered weapons. Careful placement of explosives thrown or fired doesnt yield much results either. There are very few stationary weapons that do much damage. Really the game BELONGS to those with superior upgrades, and who have spent incredible amount of hours unlocking things but also finding NICHE and cheap ways to get kills.

The game still lacks a ton of single player content, all the good game modes are online so if you don't play online or are too poor to pay for a subscription (like me) it's fun for a short amount of time, the maps are small in SP and the Campaign is as predictable as predicting the next Transformers movie.

Okay I've played this game for a few weeks now and it's time to put it back in the box and back on the shelf with a slight shrug of my shoulders.
Let me start to explain why I'm disappointed with the game. I loved Battlefront 2015 it was perfect for me. It was a game where I could pick up for 10 mins and play (which for someone who works is ideal) I loved the fact that it looked and felt Star Warsie. It gave me so many "Whooa this is cool moments". Yes it was fairly shallow, with not enough maps. But Battlefront 2015 was fun to play. And this what gets to the nub of the Battlefront 2's problems it's just not very fun.
Before I explain why I'll run through some of the good features of the game. Firstly the shooting mechanics have improved. You have guns where you can snipe and it just feels like to are firing a blaster. Sometimes on Battlefront 2015 it felt like it was random when you got into a fire fight whether you won or not. Now if you play poorly and fail to execute headshots quickly you are more likely to be punished and this is how it should be.
The second big improvement (and this is a big improvement) is with the spaceships combat. In 2015 it was frankly lousy, but now it's much improved. The ships simply fly better the firing mechanism makes sense and the gravity just is good. The game mode is also good with a wide variety of objectives and the maps as well as being beautiful are really well designed. This is my favourite game mode.
I like the idea of classes for the different troopers. I think it's imperfectly executed but it's a good idea. This just needs tweaking.
And overall it looks and sounds great and it's a bigger game. The arcade mode has expanded and works well and it has a campaign. The Campaign is okayish. It's short, the story is meh(although the characters are pretty good) and you do spend 10 minutes swatting bugs (WTF!!!) but it introduces you to the multiplayer which is probably what it should do.
There has been much made of the progression system and loot crates. I don't want to dawdle too long on this much has been said before but encouraging children to gamble is simply morally absurd and game developers need to stop this now.
However, I'm not convinced many kids will be begging their parents to buy them crystals (when EA decides it can get away with bringing back micro transactions) as mutiplayer simply is not that much fun.
So on Battlefront 2015 there were four small scale game; Cargo, Drop Zone, Droid Run and Blast. The first three of these were great fun, but guess which one EA have decided to bring back? yep the dull as dishwater blast., The one where all that matters is who has the most power behind you (Pay to win, anyone?). They've also brought in a second small game mode called strike which is just a small scale version of the main large scale game, Galatic Assault. The main problem with Strike is that it's really badly explained, the objectives aren't explained properly and there is little or no excitement.
I loved the small games on 2015, such as Drop Zone on Dune Sea. It was craziness with action all the time. The same doesn't happen with Blast or Strike. The maps are too large, you often don't see action for minutes at a time and it doesn't seem to matter whether you win or lose.

Galatic Assault suffers from the same problem as Strike. It's not clear what the objectives are. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO FALL BACK - FALL BACK WHERE TO EA??? JUST TELL ME DON'T JUST TELL ME TO FALLBACK AND THEN SAY RETURN TO OBJECTIVE AND KILL ME - THIS ISN'T IRRITATING AT ALL!!! (Rant over)
But the major problem with Galatic Assault is the Heroes. Basically they've completely ruined Heroes. it was so exciting to pick up a hero token on Battlefront 2015. Now you have to grind to get some of the Heroes. But that's not the major problem, nor is the fact that Heroes have been nerfed and made less fun, it''s all about how you get to use them.
You have to collect Battlepoints, which you collect by killing people and doing objectives and if you collect several thousand to become a hero (and you only can use one if they are not already in play). The problem of this is twofold, first average players rarely get a chance to be a hero which makes it less fun. Heroes also tend not to take ages to come into he battlefield so the first half of games are often hero free. I've literally only played as a hero on a handful occasions and several times for seconds before the game ended. Why you can't roll over battlepoints to the next game i don't know. But basically Heroes are pants.
Additionally they have (mainly) taken out jumpacks - why? they were so much fun and meant you could travel to action zones much quicker.
There is only one large scale game and it isn't as good as the three previous games on 2015. Galatic assault doesn't encourage groups of players piling in on objective in the way supremacy does. It's just Meh! all the way through, like the game generally.

A lot of people give DICE a pass and just blame EA which isn't really fair as people forget the reason DICE Devs make games isn't to make the best game possible for some altruistic reason and make themselves feel good. They are professionals who do this to make the most money possible. They knew they created an amazing SW eye-candy and thought nobody would be able to resist it alongside all the hype for the movie, so they could build in a grinding pay to win system to maximise profit.
Some people even give them a pass because they ''suspended'' the loot boxes to deflect criticism on the empty promise they'll fix it. The thing is, DICE has a long track record of being unable to fix even basic problems in their games till about 2 yrs after release (see BF1/BF4/BF3). Something as integral to the game design as the progression system will never be fixed...slightly tweaked at best.
So, this game will remain badly designed (albeit toned down from release date) and the Devs will give the usual BS about listening to the community (they only listen to the shareholders and CEOs) and how the next one will be better. Of course that's what they always say and what they said about SWBF2
I'll wait a few more months till its about a £5 for the 5 hour campaign to get my fill of the eye candy, but that's about it....a second hand copy so the money doesn't end up in EA/DICE wallet and reward their bad practices

It is sad to see not just EA, but a part of the industry using this "pay to win"system.

EA came a company that went from $8 to $800 million in profits just by inserting the famous "loot boxes" on almost every game they make. Nowadays probably every game they make has it.

I also think that this is a responsibility on Sony and game companies that attracted million of people offering games, not gambling experiences.

The microtransaction issue is a straw man. With that said, the game still has glaring issues that cause it to regress from its predecessors.

    - Where DICE's first Battlefront felt deliberate in its design, the new game design in general feels arbitrary, whether we are talking about the unbalanced implementation of "classes" or the awkward and indistinct map design.
    - Multiplayer strategy suffers from the ham-fisted implementation of player bounds which have poor visual feedback (until it's too late and you've already left the play area), and often change throughout the course of a match.
    - Maps are clearly slanted in either defender or attackers favour but lack "table turning" dynamics that games like TF2 and Overwatch possesses. This is crucial since seniority plays so much of a role in what equipment players possess.
    - The player experience is consistent in bad surprises. The environment collision is absurdly inhibiting of player movement, from tree roots to low hanging tree branches. Placing turrets as an officer is incredibly frustrating as valid placement surfaces are few, far between and unpredictable.
    - Nothing about the mechanics feels good. The jump action only serves to frustrate players as most ledges are too high to scale. The gunplay feels like a chore at all sensitivities. Even placing turrets as an officer unit feels sticky and sluggish.
    - I don't want to get started on the progression imbalance, but it bears mentioning that In single matches better players are awarded with opportunities to use better units. This means that the outcome of the match is often determined upon matching, which by the way:
    - If there is a skill based team matching and balancing implementation it's virtually undetectable. Most likely because Star Cards would slant the algorithm.

... And this is my shortlist.

What about the awaited single player campaign? It's great if you're a Star Wars fan. It's arcady and has its Star Wars moments. But its level design suffers in some areas, mostly in arbitrary enemy spawning which subverts players' ability to develop strategies for a wave by simply spawning enemies outside of the player's camera field of view. (Yes, sometimes even in the same, deadend room as the player).

Everything great or acceptable is largely aesthetic.
    - Rendering is still beautiful, although I feel like the art assets are not as polished this time around.
    - The look and feel is deserving of the Star Wars branding.
    - The voice acting and cinematics in campaign mode are excellent.
    - The variation in settings from each film is a fun addition.

In the end, some improvements were made in giving players their single player campaign and more Star Wars scenarios but at what seems to be the cost of the last installment's solid multiplayer gameplay.

All this would get the title a solid 5; but the now-somewhat-overblown microtransaction controversy warranted another demerit in that it shows how little EA cares about the player experience. This is kind of a slap in the face to both the customers and Disney-Lucasfilm as the latter seems to regard their customers highly in the grand schemes of their business models.

The massive levolutions, being able to hide on top or inside buildings... Levels looks beautiful, but are very empty. OK why can't I go prone??
