Classic EA, take an incredible franchise and stomp it into the ground, how is this publisher still around? Campaign is incredibly boring, while pvp has the potential to be fun but gets mind-numbingly dull with the grind and pay wall that the game requires. No Thanks..

Content which should have been unlocked from the start of the game is locked behind ridiculous paths of progression. Besides the awful online modes, the campaign is also horrendous. It’s incredibly unoriginal, and focuses more on cutscenes and popular characters in the Star Wars mythos instead of actually attending to its interesting female protagonist. Predictable and unnecessary, it forces the player into an obvious gameplay loop which becomes tiring after the first mission. I’ve never seen such a sequel like Star Wars Battlefront 2 manage to be so much worse than its predecessor. Expand

I suggest not only boycotting the game, but also a film. When the rights to Star Wars will be taken away from EA, then we will see a decent game.

The announcement of Battlefront II gave me excitement as it seemed EA had finally acknowledged the negative, constructive feedback from the first game. They may have enhanced graphic performance, got rid of paid DLC, added a story mode campaign and integrated new mechanics but overall the monetization aspect of the game clouds DICE’s advancements.

The main problem with the game is the multiplayer mode due to it being centred predominately around microtransactions and pay to win progression. The star card and crystal system are an absolute shambles as progression relies heavily on randomised loot crates. Furthermore, the game requires you to do unnecessary tasks such as grinding for 40 hours to unlock a single player character even if you have paid $60 for a deluxe copy. Overall, it gives off an unrewarding experience which is plagued by lootboxes.

Controversy aside, the single player campaign offers a new Star Wars story; complete with its new roster of characters, weapons and locations. Missions can be visually pleasing but as you delve into the rushed 4-hour campaign, it feels predictable and falls short. There is hardly any room for character development and the placement of well-known, iconic Star Wars alumni such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo tends to take the shine away from the newly introduced characters.

In conclusion, Star Wars: Battlefront has left me unimpressed once again and regretful that I didn’t cancel my pre-order.

Everything seems so much better now with the loot crates disabled, a daily crate is a nice little bonus and even playing online I have noticed that I don't get maimed the second you respawn by guys with maxed out uber star cards like the first few days when the crates were available for purchase. Things seem to be balancing out and online play is finally more enjoyable than frustrating. I have been really enjoying this game a lot lately.

I really wish you could have a guest online though like most CoD games, with 2 players the arcade is really boring and gets old fast...we often end up playing online and swapping out every 3 deaths or so because it is just more fun than those boring time based modes for split screen.

I really don't like that the best characters start out locked. Maybe if they could unlock as you progress in levels like other games things wouldn't seem like so much of a grind. It took a while to save up for Vader, too bad I can't get Luke for a while or even Palpatine.

Even with the issues this game made for itself, its still a solid game. If the loot crates come back with pay to win in mind, I could see myself playing a lot less as I don't really have the spare money right now to sink into a game that I already spent $80 on for the ability to play a few days early.

To keep it short, I refuse to buy this game. The game gets a 0 because of EA deliberately trying to enforce a super heavy pay to win system in an $80 game. I have no respect for this practice, and I'm not playing the game if I'm going to be treated as a 24/7 customer instead of a player.

This is my opinion hope it can have some impact into somebody looking to buy this game, which by al means you are entitled to do what you want with your money. But, I hope i can save you 60 dollars or what ever bundle you are looking to buy.

    Graphics:
As always DICE makes a phenomenal work with textures, lighting, skyboxes, etc. Frostbite engine as always one of the best game engines out there. (A part from Decima, Unreal and Unity engine)
Though sometimes the ragdoll effect when you kill enemies can be wonky at times, but it's not as big of an issue. Now to frame rate can be an ugly issue when you are in more busy areas, looking at you consoles.

    Sound:
They seem to deliver almost movie quality sounds with lasers ricochet in metals, wookie screams, spaceship sound effects, lightsabers, channel separations, etc. Everything is spot on amazing to be honest.

    Music:
It is a fantastic Star Wars score while they deliver different themes to certain characters. I would've been so mad if they got this part wrong but they didn't thankfully.

    Voice:
I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed here, more in the writing than the delivery by the voice actors. At some point the internal conflict Iden Versio was experiencing should've been a bit more emotional and you will see that on later missions. Again it wasn't the voice actor, it was the writing which seemed a bit odd by the experiences the characters were experiencing at some times, which made them feel a bit off and anti-climatic. Also will leave you wondering why the emperor sounded like a post throat cancer operation warning video. A part from that the only issue was the writing.

    Gameplay:
As everybody would know by now the game takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Just to fill in the gaps of what happened during that time. I will not put spoilers, a part from that you will see the perspective of other heroes of the franchise. The story is around 5 hours if you play on the highest difficulty. The AI feels idiotic at lower difficulty levels, though at higher difficulty sometimes the issue is there at times you will encounter that the enemies will be behind cover and they will just come running straight through the middle and into your bullets leaving you wondering at why the enemy did that.
Also this game loves the term "You are leaving the mission area".

Here comes the juicy part Multiplayer:
You got your different game modes including Arcade, Galactic Assault, Heroes vs. Villains, Starfighter Assault, Blast and Strike with 10+ maps to jump into. Connection hasn't been that bad even with the 40 player game mode.
You get 4 different classes that you can choose from Officer, Specialist, Assault and Heavy class.

Now the bad part about this game microtransactions, which are destroying the game right now. EA has programmed themselves into a blackhole of stupid. This game has no feeling of progression at all and the star cards are either boosts or abilities that you can equip that are connected to opening loot crates. This leads into a player that has spent ridiculous amounts of money into getting the top tier cards, which will make him into an unkillable god that roasts everybody in the lobby rendering team play at times stupid. The game is a true definition of pay-to-win there is no doubt about it.

So at the end the fun factor at times it's there, but they are just trying to wrap you more into the graphics. Which will cause you to feel like "Oh man, the graphics are so cool I'm just going to play one more match, just want to experience one more thing or I just want to spend one more dollar to fully upgrade that star card."

Which leaves me in a dilemma that it really sucks that it has come down to this. That this game is 60 dollars but it feels like every mobile title out there.

But seriously, I am having a blast playing this game. Graphics, controls and gameplay are excellent. The amount of detail put in the maps is beyond anything I have ever seen, from civilians rushing to take cover, to wildlife caught in the crossfire, it is truly exceptional. Only complaint I have is the long grind required to advance. Sadly what has happened is the role reversal of the the quality of the product. We are treated to a visual extravaganza which is stunning in 4k but there is a distinct lack in the game play. While the overall feel isn't bad it is ultimately let down by a poor single player story mode and the one thing that has one of the greatest appeals for this genre of game! The Star Wars characters. The grind is ridiculous and unless you are willing to part with lots more cash it'll take a punishing amount of time to unlock said characters.

The story mode is about 4 hours long with about 30 minutes that I actually enjoyed. Dice and EA came out and showed us how there was going to be a story and how they listened and how they should be commemorated for that. NO the first one should have had a campaign and this one should have a campaign double the length that it actually had. The story and dialogue of the campaign is extremely predictable and could have been written by a fifth grader. The MP aspect could have been fun. the foundation was laid out for this to be a fun game. But EA decided that they wanted billions of dollars so they added this terrible system for star cards. You know whats just great, I get to see every time I die how good of star cards the other person has. I will go into a fight where I clearly should have won but nope they bought the ultimate edition so I lost because of a dumb epic star card. And by the way why are people buying the ultimate edition, why are people even buying these games at all. When I hit confirm purchase I felt like I was commiting a crime. It felt like I was doing something evil by giving money to the mess that is EA. I would advise no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE to ever buy this game. I will not be buying another EA game until they stop being greedy bastards.

I think this is a great game the only things i have against it is the heroes being locked and all of the lag. I think the game play is great, i love the controls and game modes, the thing i don't like is that the heroes are locked and the amount of credits you get for playing a round is like 300 credits and the heroes are 10,000-15,000.

The core mechanics of the game are decent at best and do not justify any of the garbage that EA has implemented in the game. Besides that the servers are trash so even if you were willing to look past Battle Fronts errors you wouldn't be able to fully enjoy the multiplayer experience as it would most likely be too laggy.

Battlefront II is the perfect example of this, and what seems to be the biggest backlash this company has ever gotten and for a good reason. For a $60 game (the base game of course), you aren't just paying for the game, but to either be beaten by people that spend money on loot crates/in-game currency, or to grind for hours upon hours to earn ONE of their characters. That is unacceptable and thankfully the community is seeing this and responding to horrid business practices. Absolutely **** EA Expand

The game is a solid well put together piece of art. Graphically you can tell how much time and effort was put into the detail (especially in 4K). Also, the game was geared to be multiplayer anyway and not to take away from online but I was even more happy that the arcade mode provided a base reason for those without internet connection to still be able to play. In addition to solo, arcade mode also utilizes couch co-op/versus to allow you and your friends to gather and play as a team or free for all and in different types of battles as well. One of the biggest complaints I am seeing is about credit drops and though they don't drop that often you still get enough to buy characters and/or loot crates you just have to be smart when making decisions. If anyone is going to complain about people spending money to buy crates, credits, hero's or whatever purchasable then buy some yourself and if you dont feel like it or don't feel like putting in the work then my suggestion is dont play any online game ever because it is not just EA or BF2 that makes (mods, if you will) content available for those willing to spend money (THAT IS HOW COMPANIES MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE MORE GAMES!). Please just play the game for what it is because graphically the game is phenomenal, the campaign was so well written it ties in answers to the films, the offline arcade mode adds to the fun of playing with friends for those who don't want to spend money and then the online multiplayer adds tons of more fun to the equation. Furthermore to bind the progression of the game to a random lootbox system is demoralizing at best, especially when you find out how long it will take you to unlock even the most basic things. I end by saying awesome job DICE ... And EA stop ruining good games with your corporate greed!

I wanted to love this game. I've been looking forward to it for what seems like forever. I finally get it...and it's beautiful. Despite all the warnings and people telling me I'll regret it and the abysmal ratings and the lootbox gambling, I had a great time with the singleplayer campaign, despite a somewhat stupid storyline and an abrupt ending.

And then, I tried multiplayer. It was...OK. At first I got upgrades and whatnot through just playing, and at a decent pace - but not always for the characters I was using. In fact, I got duplicates more often than new cards! And I get a crap amount of credits for the duplicates! Then upgrades slowed to a crawl. Then I got cooldowns.

Then I kept getting blown away by people who had either A) spent way more time than me playing the game B) knew something I didn't about upgrades or C) bought crystals before EA/DICE/Disney shut them off.

I wanted so bad to love the game, and instead I've now gotten a refund. I found myself disappointed in the whole experience because it was so...unbalanced. I'm also disappointed because it would take me roughly forever to unlock everything - or spend way more money than I ever intended to.

I expect pay to win schemes from mobile games. I expect it, so I don't play those. But a game I spent $80 on? WHY DID YOU MAKE IT SO HARD TO LOVE?

As much as I was looking forward to this game, I won't be re-purchasing it.

And I can't honestly recommend anybody else gets it either.

I'd give it a better rating just for the graphics and Arcade mode, but everything else drags it down so much that I can't do it. Avoid.

You will for sure find enjoyment if you are desperate for a Star Wars game, but everything is delivered in such a way where it feels like there's a definite lack of polish to the game. I went in with super low expectations given all the negative press this has been getting, and for the most part I will say I have enjoyed what I've played. I don't think the time it takes to unlock things is too bad, the main issue is you kind of start not caring about unlocking anything. You get almost no excitement no matter what loot you get or what hero you finally unlocked. Which really leaves, the gameplay. Which I'd say only a third of what's available I think gets past middling. And only half of what's left I'd consider great. Expand

Galactic Assault: Are you the attacking team? Then you're going to lose. Everything is stacked against the attackers.

Starfighter Assault: Are you the attacking team? Then you're going to lose. While you're busy trying to play the objective, all your opponents have to do is shoot you (and AI bots) down to win.

Blast: Oh wow, Team Deathmatch, how original. Now with people one-shotting you across the map because they have rare and epic star cards on their Specialist class snipers.

Heroes vs. Villains: Are you on the heroes team? Then you're going to lose because every single villains has crowd control abilities that can stun lock you. Oh and preorders got not one but TWO epic Kylo Ren cards which make his crowd control abilities nearly impossible to avoid. Heroes get dashes, sprints, a melee charge, and a smoke grenade. Vader can single handedly throw an entire team off a map. BALANCE!

Strike: Mini version of Galactic Assault with fewer players. Attackers might have a chance to win if they're not stupid but one lone wolf can ruin the game for either side.

Then there's the loot box RNG garbage. Straight up statistical advantages per card with no downsides completely designed around forcing players to shell out their credit cards. People with auto cooling weapons, faster firing, and quicker battle point generation just stomping all over anyone who hasn't gotten decent cards. See that guy over there on your team running in circles because he put rubber bands on his controller? He's going to get as many credits as you for playing despite doing nothing for the team but wasting space. He'll earn more credits than you if he was in the match longer than you were.

This game is prettier than 2015's Battlefront but it's just as shallow and even MORE imbalanced - which is a feat given how pathetically balanced the modes were in THAT game. Do not buy this garbage, do not reward EA with your money. I wish I had bought COD WW2 at this rate. That might be scummy as well but it's not THIS scummy.

The Holocaust itself was a smash and grab to generate maximum profits, humanity be damned. This "game" is the product of the same reprobate degenerate philosophy. Negatives:
    - The progression system is awful. Simply awful. I have never known something to be so bad. Everything relies on Star Cards, which stem from loot crates and microtransactions (which at this point have been disabled).
    - Loot boxes.
    - Microtransactions (disabled at the moment, but will make a comeback eventually. And they were in to begin with so they deserve to be on here).
    - Only 5 game modes as appose to the previous title. A lot of the better modes are gone. I miss the old title where you would start in space, then fight on the Death Star in an all-out battle. Or Heroes vs Villains where you could really go crazy on the troopers.
    - Arcade is boring.
    - Loot boxes (did I mention those?)
    - EA and DICE have the nerve to charge people full price for half of a game.
    - The story was good, but far too short.
    - Loot boxes.

This game was a waste of money. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and the older Battlefront games but this is just awful. Loot crates spoil the experience as per usual, the progression system is terrible and the game modes get boring after a few hours. I have hope some of the DLC will make the experience slightly better but this is just bad. I had hope for this, and again, EA have let me down. As have DICE. I just wish producers would understand that nobody likes loot crates that have an affect on how the game plays. Avoid this. At least until all the expansions are out and it's in the $10 sale bin.

EA wants to do it again with this game. Putting micro transactions But the biggest aberration is when you have to spend 40 hours playing to unlock a single character. This is designed so that the player is frustrated and has to pay with real money to achieve the achievements and objects of the same game. In addition, it shows that EA seeks to generate a new market around micro payments, and not in the sale of video games.

On Reddit users complained. EA answered doing good to defend his position. Then, he received the figure of half a million negative votes. That's why they said they were going to reduce the cost to unlock everything in the game. This shows that you can change the industry instead of accepting the course you take just because.

Everyone earns the same amount of credits regardless of how well you do. This game is a joke and shows how far games have fallen. There are many videos detailing how much of a grind it would be if you didn't p2w. 10 hrs of gameplay and you will only have one weapon;

tl;dr -- don't support this game and boycott EA they are ruining the industry, this game is the epitome of p2w

Campaign was short (less than 4 hours) and made to be canon to the star wars universe but in doing so they made the most dull characters with the craziest logistics to fit into normal Star Wars story lines instead of just doing a complete offshoot. Multiplayer is a disgrace to video games with the loot crate system being a necessity unless you want or can play the game for 4500+ hours. I think they need to add a 0 to the end of all credits earned in loot boxes and per match for this to even be a playable game for SERIOUS gamers not just casual start wars fans, which is pretty sad because mechanically, this is a very casual shooter. Wow! Just wow..i know this is a late review but holy cow it takes over 40 hours to unlock a character? What kind of bull is that?! This is very disappointing for fans of Star Wars. The microtranactions are temporary shut off which is a step up cause there was no way I will pay 2100 to unlock everything. 60 bucks for a triple A game is all we want, no pay walls, no lootboxes, no greedy ass publisher 's trying to milk us for more money. Really hope Disney takes away your Star wars license . RIP EA, next time , that is if there is a next time? Really need to listen to the money holders, We ARE **** the cat, you dumbass Publisher 's are holding the tail, never forget that.

Worst game ever. Content that in previous years would be unlocked through actual gameplay is now a credit card swipe away. If you guys think that they will change the system, well, we ARE dealing with EA here.

Everyone who dislikes the game is purely based off of its loot box controversy. This game is fantastic and beautiful. Star Cards do NOT make gun fights a win or loss based on who has the best cards. I can easily turn off all my star cards and be in the top 3 of the scoreboard. 99% of the people writing negative reviews are people from reddit who haven't even given the game a chance. EA is a company run by cash-grabbing, greedy, scummy people. The only way to get them to change is to make sure they fail. Do not buy this game or history will repeat itself.

worst game release I've ever witnessed. The greed EA has within this project is immeasurable!!!
    1) The campaign in this game is a joke, 4 HOURS, 4 HOURS and no logic in the plot, only stupidity!!!!!
    2) Multiplayer? The progression system broken. It nearly does not matter how well you do, you get the same reward +/- 10% as other players in the match. 3) Servers? You think you bought a

This game is a disgrace for gaming. Its a joke and an outright middle finger to all the gamers. Its the baby of a horrible business practice and a company that has no interest or connection to gamers. This game is a curse to the ideals of the creator of Electronic ARTS. This is no art. This is a scam.

This game is a joke compared to the original Battlefront 2. I have not been buying EA

This game is a joke compared to the original Battlefront 2. I have not been buying EA games for years now but this is the final line that EA has crossed. From here on out I want to have nothing to do with Electronic Arts or anything related to the current management team of EA. Goodbye Battlefront, you will be missed.

Goodbye to all the developers that were eaten alive and swallowed by EA. You will all be missed.

Excellent online action offers hours of Stormtooper-shooting fun, but the so-so campaign stumbles, while cynical loot crates leave a sour taste. [Jan 2017, p.83]

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.

Although game has huge problems with p2w microtransactions, it is still a good and fun gameplay experience with stunning visuals.
