    Same **** as the last 10 years, 60 bucks for a roster upgrade. What EA are doing to this poor franchise is just disgusting and it needs to stop. Im just glad that fans seems to finally be fed up with the same game being dropped year after year after year.

Not going to even start here on ridiculously bad animation and players behavior on a pitch.     Glorified roster update. Lots of bugs. Terrible servers. Nearly unplayable online. Lack of advancement continues with this “installment” of the franchise. Can’t wait to port over all the bugs to next gen.

    Not a terrible game on its own. Just the exact same game with absolutely no changes for close to a decade. The fact that EA expects their fan base to pay $60+ for a yearly roster update is beyond insulting. The amount of effort put into this review supercedes the entire time put into developing this game.

    This game is awful. It is absolutely loaded with glitches and is a complete copy and paste from madden 20, 19, 18 etc. Completely lacks innovation and the company refuses to listen to its customers. Definitely not worth $60 or even $10. If you have madden 20, you have madden 21.

    Game is absolute trash like It’s always is and will continue to be until 2026 when EA’s contract with the NFL ends. They have no competition in making simulation football games so they don’t care and are lazy. I won’t be purchasing a Madden game until it is no longer made by EA.

    An atrocious football simulation game. EA has greatly expanded the number of game modes in Madden over the past couple of years at the detriment to the depth and immersion of all modes in the game. This game added no features to its already anemic franchise mode and it features many bugs upon release such as rainbow colored coaches, players wearing the wrong college jerseys #EndMaddenMonopoly

    This is just Madden NFL 20 with a bit of gloss paint over and this is still the same Madden we have seen for the last 10 years. Full of micro transactions and not worth one pound. luck I can get a full refund. just do not buy this. poor game full of bugs and lag and another poor game from EA the crooks of the games world.

    I tweeted last year that madden 20 was the worst game I had played since 16, However I still bought it after my trial the week it came out, because I love the grind of building my own team. This year, on September 3rd and my trial is sitting at 7 hours, not being able to stomach the remaining time. I do not plan on finishing the trial, as my mental health may be put at risk.

Monetization at its very best. Your Twitter responses clearly show how much you care about your consumer and The Youtuber influencers don’t say anything well because they know you won’t give them early access codes, yet they will complain when animations screw them over and over again. We have been asking for better because you are an Triple A developer who delivers crappy gameplay, with glitchy, buggy animations, the lack of attention to detail, the shameless implementations of micro transactions, a franchise that is copied and pasted over and over and over again with “0” updates or features added. We have been pleading with you EA to make things right and make us feel that our voices are being heard by you. I have defended you for years and since 2015 I can no longer do so. You have truly shown what a true monopoly looks like and that the NFL also doesn’t care as long as you make them money.     Terrible game, lack of innovation, money grabber, and disappointing. EA should be arrested and sentenced to life in prison for creating such a terrible game. The NFL should be locked up right alongside them for giving EA an exclusive license. If 2K had this license, NFL fans everywhere would have dumped thousands of hours into the game by this day and Sales would have been through the roof.

    I tried writing an honest review but after plugging in my ps2 and playing franchise im giving this a complete 0!! the lack of effort and an EXACT copy and paste franchise from last year the missing modes the same faces same everything its a slap in the face of every football fan alive! The only difference is the game play has become unplayable because of its dependency on animations.     My favorite mode in theory is franchise, but it's been a mess since 2016 (maybe before). There's no incentive to play the mode that used to be the hallmark of the series. MUT is a money-making machine. There's no incentive for EA to put a quality product out.

    This game is absolute trash. Receivers just randomly drop passes wide open, defense all of a sudden gets a massive speed boost while the ball is in the air. Glitchy as all hell. Save your money and if you really want it wait a week and it'll be in the bargain bin at walmart.

Player movements are not clean, Game play is laggy, glitches all over the place, typos, incorrect logos on teams, you get kicked out of everything before it is finished. Their big area of focus was face of the franchise. It is in no way up to the standard they promised. They promised a great scenario engine, the ability to establish your destiny and hypes the 40 yard dash to no end. The scenario engine is decent at best, everything is simulated. You play maybe 2-3 game a season and you can’t in anyway win the Super Bowl every year. Finally the 40 yard dash is hit 3 buttons and whether it is slow or fast the same time is the result. Additionally, let fate decide is always the same outcome. The main problem is madden 20 had zero content at the end and they said they were focusing attention on madden 21. The product they provided does not equal the “extra time” they put into it. The game is not worth the money in anyway. It would be like paying $60 for someone to come and scratch the disc so the game isn’t playable. Don’t buy unless it is fixed significantly or the price is dropped considerably.… Expand

I miss the real pictures from Madden 12-16 a small thing that made rookies feel like real players and brought immersion and attachment to your team. Still no coaching staff which has been missing since Madden 12. Sim stats are still super unrealistic and despite the cover athlete rushing for over 1000 yards in real life he will not rush for more that 300 yards in a season in your franchise mode. New glitches including being unable to properly use formation subs. Even the new coaches face scans are terrible despite no name players getting actual face scans in the game. No customization for player faces despite this feature being in TWO different game modes this year. Draft class glitches are even worse than last year and every time you edit a player the college changes to N/A. The only positive i can give this mode is regression seems to be much improved and something i am very pleased they fixed. I could forgive the horrible franchise if the gameplay was fun and realistic but its not. DDA is more prevalent than eve. The CPU will not throw a single incompletion unless it is a dropped int from you. CPU Qb ratings do not matter. Backup QB's will play like 99 overalls. It is simply impossible to stop the CPU even with a 99 overall defense. Man coverage, Zone coverage, blitzing nothing works. Offense is just as frustrating because your qb will miss wide open throws with extreme regularity. Terrible animations will launch passes directly to defenders. Defenders will bat a ball and it will fly 30 feet in the air into a defenders hands. Simply put whether you are playing or simulating you will not have a fun experience playing this game. This is the least ive ever enjoyed playing madden usually and we haven't even gotten to the part where EA patches the game and it makes it even more unplayable. Last year at launch I really enjoyed Madden 20 gameplay and by the end of the year it was unbearable. Madden 21 is already unbearable so I cannot even predict how much worse it will get. I cannot stress enough how bad this game is. EA only cares about microtransactions and will shove them down your throat every chance you get. It is sad to see what has happened to Madden a game i grew up loving turn into this. I miss how much fun it used to bring me and cannot keep waiting for a better game.… Expand

    All they care for is the ultimate team mode and their desire to separate us from our money through a microtransaction hell of their design all while ignoring the game that everyone fell in love with.

    The NFL should drop exclusivity with EA based on this alone.

    Pretty much an exact carbon copy of the last game. But with more bugs and glitches that go unfixed for weeks. Players don’t react to input for at least half a second. Players drop easy catches whether they’re covered or not. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

Now that my son is old enough, we are using the PS3 to play NCAA14, but sadly, he won't get to be excited for Madden launch like I was for a good part of the last 3 decades of my life. The NFL 'needs' to end exclusivity with EA so that we can get a decent footballAs a 40 year old that's played Madden every year since 1993, this is the 1st time ever that I won't be buying the game. Now that my son is old enough, we are using the PS3 to play NCAA14, but sadly, he won't get to be excited for Madden launch like I was for a good part of the last 3 decades of my life. It also allows EA to hedge their bets, or prepare themselves for the inevitable legislation that will FINALLY ban loot box sales. This game is so broken. From the clipping, warping, bugs, network issues, and downright AWFUL gameplay to the most awful writing in a story mode I’ve ever seen. There are no redeeming qualities.     As someone who has purchased and throughly played every Madden iteration since Madden 25, it's sad to see how poor the quality has become in a game I love so much. Madden 21 is a mess, there's no beating around the bush. It's clear that this game holds little to no importance in the eyes of higher-ups within EA, and that the developers of this game have no pride in their product. The same bugs that plagued and nearly ruined Madden 20 for me are still present, the player movement ( that has been completely overhauled with the introduction of the new skill stick mechanics ) feels slow, unresponsive, and choppy. The game is programmed on the Frostbite engine, made for FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS, the same engine that FPS' don't even like to use. The game is animation dependent, and you'll oftentimes find whichever player you used being sucked into tackles or pick animations. You have receivers like Julio being mossed by 76 overall rookies, guards like SUPERSTAR Zack Martin being blown off the line of scrimmage consistently by players like Dexter Lawrence, quarterbacks like PATRICK MAHOMES throwing absolute ducks when under no pressure. Cheesy diving picks, poor QB throwing animations, unrealistic speed thresholds, superstar abilities that do little to nothing, a buggy Face of the Franchise mode where almost EVERYONE is drafted by the Bears, NO improvements to Franchise mode, NO offensive linemen development trait increases, a 'pay to win' mode in Ultimate Team (AS ADMITTED BY A PROFESSIONAL MADDEN PLAYER), and developers that simply don't care about their product. How anyone supports such a game is beyond me. I'm just mad I can't get a refund.… Expand

    Black screens everywhere, can’t play 2 consecutive games of the yard without black screen. Animations are so bad. NFL 2k5 over head catches look better then madden 21. Blocking is horrible

    I was so ecstatic for Lamar Jackson to be on the cover of Madden. However, this is the same exact game as every single Madden, and a roster update for those games would be just as good. After seeing all the free copies giving out is just disgusting.

    I actually feel bad for the NFL, EA pulls the blanket over their heads year after year because the owners are too old to understand anything else. Really just an embarrassment all the way around, if I worked at Tiburon I'd start thinking about a career as an NFL player. You have a better chance at being good at that than making video games.

Still littered with bugs, still horrendously modeled, still wildly inaccurate to not only the NFL, but the game of football as a whole. The Yard is a novel idea for a free to play side project, but Madden’s bottom of the barrel gameplay inhibits it from reaching its true potential. Had EA attempted to make The Yard more akin to Blacktop in 2K, with a playable roster of legends to mix and match (instead of leaving them behind a paywall in Ultimate Team), they might’ve really had something here, but instead they created another micro transaction fueled game mode with enough sparkly, surface level “features” to blind the unsuspecting casual buyer. There is no depth to this game or any of its modes. The most fully fleshed out game mode is, of course, Ultimate Team, but even that remains largely the same concept from years past and hides its best features behind a paywall unless you want to either grind your heart out (which the aforementioned monotonous gameplay makes no easy task) or run a mediocre team relative to the big fish. The only slight credit I can give EA is toward their improvement of the create a player, but even that must be taken with a bucket of salt given that these improvements aren’t applicable to every mode (see “create a coach” in franchise), that they were only made to cash in on some of that MyPlayer dough, and that even still, it drastically pales in comparison to 2K’s create a player in even its worst iteration. Tl;dr Do not buy this game, do not support EA, this is the same product we’ve gotten for years, and they clearly are not listening.… Expand

I also haven't had the usual problem of getting ahead in a game only to have my sure-handed HB fumble, other team runs back for TD, fumble the ensuing kickoff and they recover, random intersection on my next offensive play because apparently Aaron Rogers can't throw the ball 15 feet accurately, and now I'm suddenly down 14 four minutes after I was up by 14.
    I watched a video about all the features they have removed from Madden over the years, but honestly the only one I cared about at all was the Retired page after each off season. The rest were all things I didn't care about anyway. The biggest feature I would like to see added is a good play design feature and playbook maker. Yes, I know they have had a crappy play design feature in previous editions, but it was so terrible that I didn't even miss it.    … Expand

And even if you pay thousands of dollars for the best team,which very well might be a conservative estimate, in a few months new cards will be released that make what you had before irrelevant, or the next madden comes out and makes everything obsolete again, requiring you to buy the game again and spend more money to get a good team again, starting from scratch. Franchise mode saw almost no changes. All they did was a roster update and made the new playoff system to be accurate to real life. If that's the mode you're buying it for, stick to madden 20 or go back to madden 08 or something like that. Overall, if you are buying madden 21 for franchise mode, don't bother. If you are buying it for MUT, i question your financial choices, but it's the same thing every year so go for it. If you've been playing it for years you know what your getting into. If you are playing the game for superstar KO and The yard, i'd rate the game a bit higher. They are arcade like modes and from my understanding, they are not pay to win. You can pay for cosmetics in the yard only as far as i'm aware. If those modes are all you're interested in, and you're really interested in them, you can justify buying the game and treat all the other modes as a bonus. I know the overall score I posted this is a 0 because i am a huge fan of franchise mode and think MUT is a waste of money, but if you want the arcade like game modes and that's what you're buying it for i would give it either a 5/10 or a 6/10. The arcade modes are fine but not great. I know there are a ton of reviews and since this one is overall negative it will get buried in the vast sea of negative reviews, but i hope at least someone finds this review helpful.     Glitchy, matchmaking fails just about every online game. Played a game where everytime I tried to do a passing play my QB ran backwards until he got tackled and fumbled. Icons wouldn’t come up.

    Glad I rented this year and didn't buy. I will be joining the group of people boycotting. I am currently playing ncaa 14 on ps3. And I'm not even a college football fan but ncaa 14 is way better than madden 21.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.
