This game has an amazing campaign that is fun, well-acted, and well-written. The variety of weapons you have is good as well. I know you are saying I should just adapt but I have tried and it just is not fun. There are 15 different windows on each map that you can’t even check before you get your head blown off. “grey morale” KEKW Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but the campaign killed it for me. You can say, "It's just a game!". True, but there will be some dumb asses who will be thinking it's all the truth. That is disappointing for me, and a company like Activision shouldn't make plots like that one.

I have mixed feelings for this years cod.

This is by far the best part of the game. People are here commenting saying the game is "propaganda". Whilst this may be true, the game mentions that "not everyone is a hero", implying that americans aren't either. If this game was released in 2008 it would be the game of the decade, just like how COD 4 was. COD 4 WAS EXACTLY THE SAME; the reason why people are getting offended is because it's visualized in such a gruesome manor. I don't believe that the Russians are bad people, it's the cult who are. As well as Americans or any other international organization, everyone is bad in each others own perspective so i don't get why people are rating this a "0" or a "1". Other than that, the level design in each mission is amazing. Some missions really make you think what's best to do, flash bangs and tactical are actually meaningful now because if you run too far forward you'll get killed which i like. If you think for yourself, and know that the story is fictional, then you will have a good time too.

Spec ops is shy of being interesting also. I'm very underwhelmed by how they treated this. Each mission is a pain because most of the levels are open dull empty areas where you have to go to one place to another. The enemies are super hard to battle against, and there is no difficulty mode

Now onto the main thing, the multiplayer.
I'm going to say this - this multiplayer has been the most underwhelming out of the bunch and this is probably the first Cod ever where i don't actually put effort into leveling up. When i heard about how this game played and the maps in the beta; i was so excited. However, when it dropped I soon realized how bad it actually is.

Basically both gunplay and gameplay don't correlate well at all with the maps. The only map I enjoy playing is Azhir Cave because it's short, to the point and you don't have to wait about 30-40 seconds to get back into the battle and when you die, you have to do the same thing it's not fun and it's not the style Cod should be. most of the normal maps "in the quick play rotation" are really bad as stated above. That being said the gunfights are a good implementation to the game. Maps like docks, and gulag showers (nice throwback) are good maps for 2v2. Only wish the main part of that gulag was in this MW as a standalone map. The worst map has to be Piccadilly because it's just uninspiring. There's no detail other than a bunch of thrown bus' in the middle and everyone camps, there's no good gameplay with this map. I understand if this happened in a normal life, then this would be realistic; but for an arcade shooter? no... I'm really surprised that map even went passed QA.. and finally ground war.. this is what i like the most ironically. but just copied from battlefield

Extras: I like the leaning feature, the graphics are beautiful (best cod for graphics), there's no full teams in multiplayer lol

Verdict - The campaign is solid, spec ops is mediocre and multiplayer is just biased (love it or hate it sorta thing). I'd say wait until it's on sale.

6/10 (OG post), could change in a couple weeks time but this is how i feel

I can just say they are ruining the gameplay, making people camp so much that is almost impossible to move without being shot from 20 places at the same time.

Spec ops: (I've played survival and the normal missions) it's a great mode where you can chill out with your friends, survival mode is good but it isn't for the pc or xbox version until next year.

in general facts, it is a good game, but the multiplayer experience isn't as good as old CoDs.

I WILL not do Infinity Ward the disservice of review bombing this game. That would be completely unfair to those who put countless hours into its creation. The game was stable and running like clockwork on launch for me and I've had no crashes and very few bugs, all of them so minor I'd barely pay any attention to them.

The campaign was much more in line with what I expected from a MODERN Modern Warfare game. It was by no means dumbed down, being downright uncomfortable to watch at times (this is a very good thing coming from the series that brought you the "Press F to Pay Respects" meme). The cast was diverse while not feeling like forced political pandering, and I actually found myself being invested in them much more than I have been in any previous Call of Duty game's characters. The gameplay itself also feels fantastic, with weapons and movement feeling like what call of duty has always been striving for; enough realism for everything to carry some weight but spiced up a bit to look pretty and be more accessible.

I DO have gripes with this game, hence the 6/10. The issues I do have are with some missing ore janky feature within the game. For instance, (playing on pc) I can go into my options, and pick between controller or Keyboard+mouse. Once I enter matchmaking, I am locked to my choice and the game does its best to put me only with other players using controller. This is fine, It keeps things more balanced. BUT, if not enough players with the same device are found, it will throw in anyone it can find. So multiple times I've been in matches, using a controller, and the other team had 2 players with keyboard and mouse, and Our team was at a disadvantage. This could easily be fixed by allowing, in cases like this, for the input device to be changed mid match.

There are also several issues with map layouts and spawns. At first I found the maps too large but that was just something to get used to. Now I've noticed that in flag capture modes, most objectives are set up in a chain, with one team spawning at each end. Meaning youll constantly be dieing in the middle of the map, and spawning in the same place, over and over. These matches tend to end exactly how they start, whoever happens to get the middle flag first and holds it wins. This could be fixed by trying to set all flags an equal distance from one another AND each spawn. This also carries over to ground war, accentuating the issue because of how large the maps are.

My final issue is more of just a personal wish, and this is the only place I feel I could actually give some solid feedback, but Spec Ops NEEDS an offline mode. I dont mean the offline it has, which is basically just round based survival, I mean the actual co op missions but alone or with an ai partner. When I think of spec ops, I think of the single player missions from Modern Warfare 2. If the current spec ops had a single player option, again with one ai teammate just to eat some bullets and revive you, each mission would be something akin to Sniper Elite or even Metro Exodus.

Over all I've been enjoying myself, but there are some fixes that could take this from a good game to the game every call of duty fan has expected since 2013.

If they had clearly positioned Barkov as a traitor to Russia, if they had made the final mission in the form of a joint operation of Russia and Price&Co., then the angles would have been more smoothed. Due to the lack of this certainty, many points are interpreted ambiguously and to a greater extent, not in favor of Russia. I am not an expert and will not undertake to judge who, where and what war crimes committed. I do not know, because propaganda exists on both sides. And the new CoD reminds me of propaganda... The problem of the current situation is that all the negativity created by Russia on the world political scene is done by the hands of the government, and the game is played by ordinary citizens who are far from politics or subject to Russian propaganda, so they are offended. No need to put a sign of equality between the government and the nation. Not all Russians are bad... Campagin 3/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Objectively - story company, it takes a maximum of 5 hours (on medium difficulty). Many points are borrowed from various films, and this even goes to the plus, but again, the plot is not enough. Some missions self-repeat. Some characters are not spelled out very well, because of this it is difficult to condole their feelings and sufferings (from evil Russians). As such, the "neutrality" that the developers promised is not. The choice is minimal and has little effect.
As usual, the Americans / British fellows saved the Russians from themselves (from the evil Russians).
Special operations are boring and uninteresting.
BUT there are no complaints about the gameplay, an excellent game, this is more like Battlefield than the latest Battlefield V.
Pleasant shooting, convenient and intuitive controls, but a little complicated interface for a simple layman (as an example - getting weapons for pre-order from the arsenal turned out to be difficult for some).
Too arcade control of equipment, although this is a stupid nitpicking, because IN CALL OF DUTY THERE IS VEHICLE and HELICOPTERS and this is already good.
Killstrikes for the mode are implemented cool, but balance is needed.
You feel the spirit of the very good Call of Duty, but it is played and felt in a new way (for the better).
    (Objective rating - 6.7)

Subjectively - my internal VATNIK just broke from the most violent Russophobia. It is Russophobic because it directly says about “KILLING RUSSIANS”, but in Russian localization the word “RUSSIANS” was replaced by “BARKOV SOLDIERS” to soften the glow.
The game showed "white helmets" that helped people under the rubble, although they are better known for their fake salvations, filmed for show.
Although Activision tried to somehow smooth it out by adding the “good” Russians who cooperate with the United States, but in the special operations on the territory of the “mocked” state the DNR (the modern conflict in Ukraine) served as a prototype. I will not talk about the notorious Feminism ...
    Too arcade technique, played poorly.
A lot of maps were created for campers (as if I had just entered Battlefield).
The problem of Asians with cheats on European servers can be omitted.
    (Subjective rating - 4.3)

The saddest thing in this situation is that the developers decided to push off the USA crimes in Iraq by changing "USA" to "Russia".
As an example: the "road of death in Urzikstan" is the same "road of death" in Iraq when, during the retreat of the Iraqi forces, the USAF destroyed the retreating Iraqi army (which is prohibited by the Geneva Convention).

(literally unplayable) BUT and emphasis on the BUT the campaign has a few quality moments and held my interest.

Multiplayer: The Multiplayer is in a rough spot, its not bad and plays better than MW2 on launch but as i write this there are three viable weapons and the rest are sort of just there... Not bad but just outclassed. The game plays quite well on the new engine and i love the small quality of life improvements such as editing classes in game. Cross platform is a bit buggy and you will be kicked from your group occasionally but besides that works well and is lots of fun. Gunfight is beyond amazing and i love the competitive pacing of it (please add a ranked mode to it). Minor adjustments to gun balancing would make the multiplayer much better, but all in all ive enjoyed it.

Spec Ops: Yet to play it as i cant download the package required and at this point couldn't care about it, from what ive heard its broken and boring.

Campaign: i had little to no faith in the campaign as i haven't enjoyed a call of duty story since i was 11. the story is cheesy at times, you have your generic falling out of helicopters and walking it off, or your cover shooting for 15 minutes. But the story does have a few exceptional moments, Clean house is a tense level and has a great pacing. the campaign is short but extremely sweet and if you can look past the generic stuff, its quite fun.

all in all a fresh take on an old friend, id recommend it as a Christmas gift for a family member, but not something you should spend $80 CAD before taxes on. wait till it has a sale and definitely pick it up.

Multiplayer is good in it's core, but has some points (Skill Based Matchmaking, Way too short time to Kill, a lot of camping spots on maps, Bad visabillity...) that makes it unplayable at some times, because in a Match of 12 Players 10 are Camping.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am reviewing this game as a whole. Story, Multiplayer, and Co-Op. Let’s start with the Multiplayer. The gun play is amazing! It feels like a back-to-form return to it’s predecessors. It just feels so good to run around with an SMG and mow down 3 people in an instant or snipe from a distance racking up 13 kills or the more basic option, running around with an Assault Rifle and killing the first person you meet. Even then, it’s SO SATISFYING. The shotguns have a weight that you feel when you use them (especially the 725). The add-on combinations are great and you could feel the difference they make. Some more then others, which sucks because some add-ons are essential or even unbalanced for certain weapons. Playing with friends is quick & easy and fun as ever. The maps are 50/50. Some maps you’ll have an amazing time on (*cough Shoot House *cough) and other, you’ll have a harder time on. This was never a problem for me because I have 5 different load-outs that I use and some certainly work better on specific maps rather than others, but people have taken notice to the jarring disparity in map quality. In short, the Multiplayer is as good as ever, once you get past some of the **** like OP weapons and toxic combinations. But that won’t take too long. I’m just gonna skim past this one because it’s pretty forgettable, the Co-Op is generic and boring without friends. Even then, it gets old quick. The “story aspect” they tried to implement is nonexistent. Mediocre at best, boring and forgettable at worst. Now the part you’ve been waiting for, the story. Is the controversy warranted? Well, I don’t have a definite answer, but it is pretty problematic at certain area’s. You start out trying to bomb a Russian base for having deadly gas used in war crimes, pretty generic. You get past that part and get to the next mission. A man named The Butcher bombs a city in England. You set out for revenge and team up with some revolutionaries. These people are revolting from the Russian government, and this is where it gets hairy. You see, in Modern Warfare, the President of Russia is General Barkov. He’s a brutal leader who gasses civilians and hates revolution. Sounds pretty cut & dry right? The thing is, every single Russian in the game is either dead or actively committing a war crime. Whereas the Americans are paragons of virtue. Now, people say this a Russophobic but I don’t know. It’s not actively telling people that Russians are evil or that the Russian government is authoritative. It’s just an evil bad guy getting taken down by a good guy. I don’t think any reasonable person will play the story and play through the story and believe that Russians are evil degenerates. I certainly didn’t. The problem I have is that the creators promised a “morally gray” storyline and all we got was good-guy-kill-bad-guy type of story that we’ve seen over and over again. I don’t think it’s racist in any way. I don’t think the creators meant for it to be racist. It’s just a good American soldier take down evil Russian soldier dynamic we’ve seen many times over. It’s dumb and antiquated but it’s definitely not an attempt to make Russians look like barbarians. In closing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has amazing Multiplayer but a dry Co-Op and a generic story. I recommend it solely for the Multiplayer. It’s just too good, it’s addictive! With friends, you won’t be able to put it down. Just do yourself a favor and skip the Co-Op. Play the story if you’d like but if you’re sensitive or easily offended, I recommend you don’t. That being said, the game is ok. Taking everything into account, I think this would be a great Multiplayer game to play either alone and grind out or to play with friends. Beyond that, it’s pretty dry. Buy it and give it a try, it’s not for everyone but if you just play COD for the Multiplayer or just like FPS in general, this is the game for you. Expand

The MW2019 spec ops is large open areas filled with enemies that just make the mode a slog to get through and will leave most players board. Multiplayer is rather enjoyable. There is a lack of funnel maps and the mode has gone away from the futuristic lasers and jet packs. Recent maps like Shoothouse have shown just how good this games multiplayer can be.

The single player is interesting from a gameplay perspective but the story is forgettable as are the characters. Whereas in something like Black Ops 2 where your choices would effect the story and not end it, here they just end the game. Open a door to the terrorists and you get a bullet in the head followed by a checkpoint reset. In Blops 2 when given the choice to shoot a friendly or the enemy your choice would effect which would live and how the story would continue. Honestly this story has no balls and it's attempts at being edgy and shocking fall flat. I found myself laughing at how try hard it was.

Overall I find that this game is meh at best. The spec ops is a flop, multiplayer is pretty good, and the singleplayer is meh.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would like to put emphasis on the fact that this is the first Call of Duty I have actually enjoyed playing and invested a lot of time into since COD 4 remastered. The game itself is well balanced when it comes to its guns and is just generally fun and excited to play and I really do enjoy it. However, there is a major downside to this game and that’s the development of it. I have never played a game with so many issues and errors popping up. I know this isn’t just my network as it happens to everyone I know but everytime I freshly load up the game it says error connecting and sometimes this can genuinely take 3 attempts just to load up the game. You also can’t play loads of games back to back without a network error whether it’s being kicked out mid game for being disconnected from the call of duty servers or being kicked out of a party that you are in between games. I’ve noticed that in a party of 6 we can’t string more than 2 games together without their being a player booted out. The game itself also seems to freeze constantly and although it’s only for a few seconds when you’re in the lobby it can be so frustrating as you can’t even set up a class without the game glitching. The network errors for this game are such a let down considering how big the game itself is. I would genuinely rate this game a 9/10 if the network errors didn’t play such a big roll in preventing me from just having fun. This game with better servers and network consistency’s would be one of the top call of duty’s ever made hands down. Expand

Good, sadly, short campaign. Nothing spectacular.

Bought this game for multiplayer, came out unexpectedly dissapointed. AWFUL map design, super poor visibility on some maps, the only way to find a player on certain maps are to hunt for their nametags, which means that of course favors campers, because there's really no point in rushing the others, you will get flanked in a second.

This call of duty favored campers the most, doors everywhere, footsteps so easy to hear.
Maps are so big for a 6v6, combined with utter garbage design and visibility, its almost unplayable.
Small maps are a problem too, spawns are so damn broken, killstreaks basically freeze the game for like 20 seconds, you cant go out or the missiles will destroy you, another reason for camping. Headglitching... 12 tick servers...

Every time I log in, theres an update that requires a restart... Why cant the game update automatically overnight like all the rest of the games I have installed?? This is absolutely ridiculous. They need to fix the update delivery system asap. Its appalling and embarrassing considering other online games manage updates 10x better.

Aside from the absurd amount of updates, what happened to the leveling system? Why cant we prestige like previous games and receive a new badass prestige rank icon to showoff?? There was NOTHING wrong with that system! It gave us. sense of accomplishment. i felt like a badass when I finally reached prestige 8,9,10 so on and so forth. There is no sense of accomplishment if you reach 150 and get dropped to 50 after the season is over or even worse, drop to level 1 because of the stupid leveling glitch that they still havent fixed. It discourages you from playing!!!

Speaking of seasons and battle passes.... This whole battle pass thing is the worst thing to grace this industry. Its grotesque, unnecessary, and down right scummy. Its because of this battle pass that leveling your rank is a complete crap shoot. All this to please the publishing gods and satisfy their greedy pockets. Its disgusting the amount of money Activision makes and still have the audacity to ask for more.

    Ways to improve the game:
    1. Deliver updates behind the scenes aka overnight.
    2. Bring back the prestiging leveling system.
    3. If you are going to have a battle pass, do not let the leveling rank suffer. Bring back prestiging as an independent leveling system for those that do not want to buy/participate in the battle pass and an independent leveling system exclusive for battle pass members. Gameplay accomplishments and experience will apply to either player prestige or both systems depending if the player purchased the battle pass.

There, I fixed three glaring issues with this game and it only took me several minutes. Will it happen? Absolutely not but I needed a place to rant and let my frustrations out.

Other those things, the campaign is very good. The cinematic cutscenes are so well done and the characters are so incredible lifelike. The team really nailed the core atmosphere of Modern Warfare and really pushed it to the limits. Game play is solid also. The shooting mechanics have always been incredible and this game is no exception. Spec ops on the other hand is incredible lack luster. There arent that many missions and the ones available are boring and leave a lot to be desired. After experiencing the Campaign, you would expect the same level of story telling and action but you dont get any of that in Spec Ops. This is a playlist that can be removed and most the players wouldnt care.

Thats it for my review. i give this game a generous 6/10.

For theWith the next Call of Duty being released this October or maybe a couple months after October i think its time to write a review about this game. For the campaign part of the game i must say that I really enjoyed my time playing not just because of the characters but it has the grittiness and the awful things of war but its just the same like every other call of duty campaign. For the multiplayer section, I kust say as a fan of the series since 2007 and a person who played almost every interaction of Call of Duty, this is probably the most boring and slowest experience ive ever played. The maps are too big and there is a unreasonably amount of Doors, Windows and just corners and placed that shouldn’t be there. They punish you for moving and they reward the players who camp in a building with a shotgun/LMG/AR. They did however bring back classic old maps but they ruin almost every single one of them with them adding buildings and doors that shouldn’t be there. On the contrary, the micro transactions have been handled almost beautifully and the fact that they are giving us free maps and guns at the same time on the all the platforms really makes this game nice. Another big core thing that the Developers messed with are the spawns. Out of all my time of playing this game and the past games, the spawns here are NOTHING like they were ever. For example if you have a teammate in the enemy spawn, you have a high chance of spawning on that teammate while you should have spawned back where the other 4 teammates are. On top of that, the spawn system causes you too lose and gain map control to which if you are a competitive player, you know how huge map control is and how important it can be to win games. Also the graphics of this game are the best in any Call Of Duty game. I also LOVED how they did the gunsmith in the game and it is beautiful with how creative you can make your gun. Also all of the camouflages in the game are nice but sadly the amount of stuff you have to do to earn every single camouflage is just time consuming and utterly annoying. For example some challenges like mounting kills are retarded and just awful. However if you do all the camouflage challenges for ALL base launch guns in the game, you will earn this rare camouflage and as much as i love the camouflage and all its not worth doing the WHOLE process. Also, they did add mastery challenges but sadly in my opinion they are not worth it and the obsidian camouflage that you get is also nothing special but its not that hard to get and isn’t that cool. Another thing i want to add is the time period that the game is based in. Now i’m not a military expert or have any experience but as far as I am concerned nothing of the equipment/guns seem too far fetch or unrealistic. Another thing is the kill-streaks. Now as much as I love kill-streaks and all i think that score-streaks were better due to having people play objective more. Another thing about the kill-streak system was the fact that you can’t lap your streaks constantly and can only earn them once. As much as get why they made that decision, i think it was awful and it not be in the game. Now Warezone however is honestly AWESOME and so much fun. Don’t get me wrong, there are tons and tons of issues in Warezone but in my opinion, i had more fun playing Warezone than Blackout back in Black ops 4. The last section of the fame is spec Ops. Now even though i don’t have much play time in spec ops, i must say that its fun for awhile and can help you pass the time, but its nothing like the traditional zombies me and a-lot of people are used to. All in All, out of all of the Call of Duty’s that came out in the past 5 or even 10 years, this has got to be the worst iteration of Call of Duty not just for me, but people like me who’ve been playing this series for a LONG time find this game boring with the maps, spawns, and honestly the way the Developers handle with these issues too. It is edgy and controversial and brings back a lot of memorable characters from previous Call of Duties. My only complaint would be in regards to the length of the story with it seeming relatively short lived. Now let's talk about the multiplayer. The MP is awful and trust me, I hate saying that. The MP is slow, campy, and just plain boring. Skill based matchmaking has ruined COD, mounting has encouraged campers to camp even more, there is more that I could say in regards to the MP but I will stop there. The COOP mode is boring, too grindy, and is ultimately a shell of its formal self. The only thing that saved this game is Warzone. Even though battle royale was not part of the game originally and came out months after release it has been its only saving grace. It offers play styles for both campers and people who want to race for kills. Warzone alone would probably receive a 8/10 but since it is part of the overall game I am giving it a 6/10 and that is being generous. Expand

The more pleasant the idea could be to the fans, CoD MW was a double-edged sword for all gamers. The franchise is surely a money-making machine that can bring most of its fans back to new-made games, but it is really disappointing how some simple things that can easily be fixed are just ignored.

Even after one year, for example, how come the Spec Ops mode wasn't fixed? One of the most epic and cool features of the previous games was turned into a nightmare. I've played CoD for years, finished most of the campaigns on their hardest difficulties and I could play the multiplayer decently as well... and my gosh! Even playing with friends who are good players and had microphones as well we couldn't have any fun playing the Spec Ops/Co-Op missions. It is so broken and hard that the only reason why people still play it is to get new skins or some kind of achievement for XP points and etc.

As for the Multiplayer, which is the most catching part of the game for most gamers and has been in the hearts of so many FPS fans... how could it just be so annoying and frustrating? I won't be hypocritical here and say "wow the multiplayer sucks but I still play it every now and then" nor claim that the mode isn't good at all due to some mechanics changes and me not being able, somehow, to follow these changes. I can be frank and say that the customizations, gunsmith, sound and map designs, playthrough, and the removal of loot boxes are to be congratulated and can provide hours of fun alone or with friends. The crossplay is very welcome as well and all the objectives aside from winning the matches make the game way more fun. But all of these seem to not be important at all when every match you play feels frustrating and painful to so many previous CoD players. The franchise always had "issues" with campers, for example, it is a regular play-style and there is nothing really wrong about tactical camping nor trying out different weapons that require this way of playing, but the huge problem here is that CoD MW literally rewards people for camping! From the level designs to game mechanics a shooting game that used to be so exciting and frenetic full of gun-fights was reduced to a sniping/hide-and-seek game. The sound of footsteps is so loud that players avoid running around looking for enemies and, instead, sit still on corners and respawn areas with long-ranged weapons to shoot them. Also, most of the weapons/perks unlocked in beginning levels give an advantage to campers, not to tell that mounting weapons on walls and other surfaces increases a lot the precision of all guns, making it really hard to avoid and spot these players. The results of these are that "regular" players no longer enjoy the game as much as they used to, spending more time running through all the enormous maps and dying instead of being into gun-fights having fun. It is also demotivating that every new Season hasn't been able to fix properly the weapons' balance, forcing players to play with certain weapons such as M4A1, MP5, etc, instead of what they want... and bringing new and more overpowered sniper rifles such as Barret and SPR 208 when camping is already broken... Really?!?!

And last but not least, the Campaign. The graphics and mechanics work really well, the voice acting sounded much better than many games, the playthrough is full of surprising moments where you are caught off guard, it shows violence as it is, in a way that can make you feel guilty and not always heroic. Also, many of the missions feel really immersive, the world-building through dialogs and gameplay is good, and the variety of missions and scenarios feels pleasant for an FPS game. Seeing Captain Price again felt quite nostalgic and the usage of real-life events to build the story was a great touch. But a big downside to the Campaign are the facts that not only the villains feel really generic and lack backstory/motivation, but also the game has regressed to that same lame plot: "Russians are bad guys, and since we don't wanna say it's Russia's fault let's say they are terrorists...from Russia!!!". Gosh, CoD developers really need to turn this page. So many executions for the only sake of shock-value and blaming Russia as a villain again?! Where are the villains like Raul Menendez, who is rememberable with great character development and makes the gamers want to kill the guy so badly through the game? Terrorist groups with a "good" motivation, posing as a "real" threat to the world and not just dumb folks who throw bombs at random places? Other countries working Together to deal with big threats and save the world Together, and not just the USA being the only heroes?

Anyways... a good game in a way and promising for a MW2, but a lot could be changed to make it better.

This is part of my my point. The people responsible for why cod was so good and why the game became so popular are gone. Any people still there or who returned this game think they know how these guys made this game and what makes it good, but they dont. If anything they now get their bad ideas in the game that the original team would not have let happen. So every new cod will always be inferior to the originals. Its pretty obvious. Treyarch has done the closest to keeping the game fun and fresh, but they were only as good as the last IW cod they strived to 1 up. Once the original guys were gone, their quality dropped. It's all hype and inferior.
Oh yea, the original team would not have let such a bad idea as insulting the Russians happen either. Not surprised it's going this way though. That and the overpowered guns and probably a whole list of other things...

Metas dominate this game, guns that have been nerfed multiple times still beam, camp fests, snipers are heavily outclassed, footsteps way too loud so alot of soundwhoring, etc.

Warzone was good for the first two weeks then everyone started camping on rooftops and buy stations, setting up traps, snipers literally everywhere. It's a shame because the game had so much potential to be the best CoD. Also $24 for a skin bundle is highway robbery but lots of people buy them so i guess yall got it made.

Honestly i do play the game frequently because i just want some simple, arcade shooter fun but I can't take this game seriously at all. I basically just troll with shotguns and explosives

    Multiplayer: 4/10
Map design is horrible, the majority are way to big and you can go long without hearing gunshots and finding anybody, weapon customization is very good I will give them that, gunfight, infected and gun game are probably the best game modes, the rest are extremely boring due to high amounts of campers, there are way to much broken weapons that players take advantage of, and high amounts of hackers in both multiplayer and warzone, many mechanics simply don't fit call of duty yet they added them anyway and overall the multiplayer is bad

    Co-op: 1/10
This may seem harsh to many of you but once you play it you will see why I gave it this score, it is so disgustingly bad it was a pain to play it, for starters operations are extremely repetitive, secondly most perks are useless, scavenger is probably the only useful perk, thirdly it is extremely hard, enemies are so hard to kill yet they can lazer you in seconds and mounting your gun doesn't help at all, fourthly it is extremely bugged, fortunately you don't need to play it to get platinum trophy

    Warzone: 7/10
Im not gonna lie, warzone is the best battle royale game, it is extremely fun with friends and very addictive, teamwork and communication is key and that is what makes warzone so good, solo warzone is pretty boring and warzone rumble is boring depending on the map, if you get a good map it is awesome, grinding is worth it and overall warzone is good

In conclusion, modern warfare has a very good campaign, a multiplayer that struggles with mechanics that just don't work with cod, lazy developers in spec ops but lots of fun in warzone

The multiplayer is solid, with nice variety and a few free maps and weapons added from time to time.

Warzone is out of the analysis, since it is a standalone addition.

What drastically drags this entry (and the previous ones) are the nonsensical addition of microtransactions and an ingame store with such abusive prices that makes it more ridiculous than it already is. Put a season pass above all this. It is shameful for the industry that triple A games which already cost 60-70€ are using F2P forms of monetization, and such practices should be erradicated.

If you are willing to ignore all the ingame transaction bs (which is difficult since they throw it at your face all the time), there is a game undeneath that is decent at most.

Lets get to it, what the f*** is wrong with this game:

It doesnt work, im playing on pc and having constant crashes, connection losses during both sp and mp.

Game needs you to do a shader compile in order to run smoother which is a nice thing at first but with each shutdown/crash it needs you to do it again or face sudden fps drops and this takes time so you waste around 30 mins if your game crashes.

Story is utter sh** i wont go into detals to spoil anything but there's no character progression, there's no proper motivation to do things its forced and highly scripted.

Lets say you need to clear a house that has 4 doors to enter. You can go through only 1 you cant do anything out of the script game kills you right away and it gets boring so quick you'd be surprised.

[NOT A SPOILER] In a mission you use a sniper rifle, you are a seasoned soldier running around the world but some **** explains you to how to use rifle, yea thanks for nothing.

Singleplayer story has filler missions, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?

Now to the good parts of the game and why i gave 5:
Multiplayer is amazing except one map, guns feel great gunplay is on point. Tacticals/nades feel nice. I suggest you to buy this game if youre only into some modern shooter but if you're an old fan of the series and want to experience new things with the old crew. Characters aren't interesting, maybe Barkov or Butcher give a little bit of content. Even Cpt. Price became a boring person, if his name changed to John, I wouldn't see any difference. Multilayer is changed in good way, new mechanic of recoil, transport are pretty nice but Infinity Ward haven't worked it out and in result, we have a huge amount of bugs with spawn, weapon, killstreak and others.

Story: Its okay, visually its the best we've ever gotten, Story wise its all about Terror and so on and on. There are some really good missions but most are forget able. It turns into the same Russia bad America good story we've seen a hundred times already.

Multiplayer: Animations and graphics are very nice, but there are some huge problems.
First of all is the TimeToKill wich is way too short, you get killed so quick you can't even turn around.
Footsteps are way too audible you can hear them from miles away.
Some weapons are too strong, like the 725 shotgun which does too much damage over range. Its more realistic no doubt but its not a good game play mechanic. Claymores are too strong since you can now hide them behind doors and there is no way for you to tell if there is one or not.
And last and probably most important: camping is too easy. All of the mentioned problems mean that sitting silently in a corner is as effective as ever. People just camp in a corner and wait till some one runs into their claymore, and if that doesn't finish the job they can just pre aim you because the footsteps are so damn audible. I've had rounds in wich you heard absolutely no gunfire for a minute because everyone was camping in a house. And its not a rare occurrence either, people camp in every round. So far I've had NO round were no one was camping, it's actually insane how many people camp now. And stuns are too powerfull as well, they don't just slow you down they make you completely unable to look around, and they last too long.

The good about the multiplayer is the gun customisation is really detailed and fun to use.
Weapons now have recoil unlike most other CoD's.
New modes Ground War and 2v2 are pretty good.(Tho tanks are definitely too strong)
Abilities are a good addition to the game.
A lot of the map is more accessible so you can reach places you couldn't in other CoD's.

Neutral Stuff: These are based on your own preference. Most maps are bad. Some weapons are inconsistent e.g. the k98 and mk2.
Killstreaks are in the game only mode without them 2v2.
Overall its much better than its predecessor but still needs change.

I haven't played cod since ghosts was released as I didn't like the futuristic setting. Firstly just want too say the The campaign was amazing in this game. I'm level 147 online so it's fair too say iv been playing it alot. I'm just bored with it already there is next too no rewards after level 55 there isn't really much incentive to keep playing I'm not a great fan of the maps apart from 2 which are reasonably fun too play but the majority of them are just boring and lack any real character. There is no map in the game that is iconic or anything like the old maps from mw2 or mw 1 there just nothing really too them. Also thought I'd add the gun Smith is amazing it's great the amount of options you have to customise the weapons. Might be an unpopular opinion but I dont think there are anywere near enough guns in the game there could of been so much more variety. I know you can make variants through gunsmith but really there isnt alot of base weapons in the first place. I like the game but I'm just fed up with it abit now it needs more content and more things to unlock could do with some more calling cards and emblems aswell there lacking like much else in the game Expand

My issue with the story is the overall mission length for some. A main complain I’ve seen is that the campaign is too short. CoD games have never had a lengthy campaign yet this one feels shorter than the ones before. All of the missions sort of role together with not much downtime in between so the missions feel brief. I felt like some missions were so short it was the equivalent to a Costco sample. As for multiplayer I’m having fun on the new Shoot-house map which came after launch. The main issue I and many other are having are with the maps. I have to say I hate about 90% of the maps as they just don’t flow well and make me want to not play most maps except for Shoothouse. The 2v2 maps however are fantastic and I only dislike 1 of them. As for things like ground war I miss the rolling objectives that Call of Duty WW2 had to offer. Many people disliked this game but I think it got better over time and it sold more than Black Ops 4 if I’m correct so you be the judge on which was better. Ground war feels more like Battlefield with this vast maps and the return of vehicles to CoD. I wish the Battlefield aspect was left out because it feels out of place but may offer something you like if you’re a fan of battlefield and CoD. Maps seem to encourage camping along with you getting a claymore almost instantly through level progression. This allows you to camp and then protect a flank attack. All for the last lethal item to be a thermite grenade. The game has a convoluted UI system currently which I loathe. Hopefully they patch it out. In order to play on a game mode of you’re choice in a quick match, you have to select and deselect the game modes. So select the game modes you wish yo play deselect the ones you don’t. I typically love playing hardcore which you have to toggle an additional button to get to then deselect those game modes you don’t wish to play in order to get the one you want. My friend was the party leader and for the first few matches we played standard games not even knowing hardcore was in the game we thought it was left out. Again, hopefully they update the UI because its terrible.

I feel like this game is only rated so low by the users because multiplayer is where they will spend most of their time. Critics beat the game play the multiplayer and then on to the next form of media to review.

The campaign falls flat, with a few highlights amongst a story that fails to build tension or convey the stakes of your actions. None of the antagonist characters are interesting or memorable. The house clearing mission is without a doubt the best mission, but even that mission ends just as it feels like it has begun. I would definitely have preferred a longer average mission length. The house clearing mission is without a doubt the best mission, but even that mission ends just as it feels like it has begun. I would definitely have preferred a longer average mission length. The graphics impress for sure: some beautiful worlds have been created here, yet each one feels too much like the last. Far fewer memorable moments compared to the original trilogy. I get a sense that this game's campaign tried to take itself a tad too seriously, and just needed to open up a bit. I'm not saying that every mission needs a crazy set piece, but set pieces exist for a reason: they deliver excitement. The multiplayer is held back by boring map design and what feels like a step backwards in the gunplay from prior games. The game tries too hard to detach itself from previous titles, and the fact that they're bringing back previous maps into the game shows that none of the current maps appear to be resonating with the player base. As for spec ops: well, it's a joke. It's a tagged on mode that isn't worth your time. Warzone is a good bit of fun, however as it is a standalone it will not influence the score of this review. Overall, Modern Warfare is definitely a disappointment, however the developers can use this to rebound and create a fantastic new Call of Duty for the next generation. Expand

Great! The best is probably wide variety of game modes and with updates more are coming.

Good range of weapons and attachments. However there are a few that have been too good since day one and everybody uses them. But the realism approach and sounds also the smoke from your gun after firing are well done. And as for the campaign. Poor. Only playable once. It ain’t like MW2 or Black Ops 1. Expand

Would have totally loved to kill some russian!!! Nothing better than killing fascists (nazis etc.) unless of course its killing zombie.

Anyway despite my desire to play the MS store version of this would not work on my XBOX one for download. downloaded the campaign multiple times, restarted the console, cleared cache all that - nothing. After a day or so I gave up, and asked for a

Everything is upside down. Call of Duty has a better solo campaign than multiplayer after many years. We will remember a perfectly scripted war with a dense atmosphere, but we’ll forget about the unbalanced online multiplayer. [Issue#298]

After a multiplayer-centric episode, the COD fans will be delight with the return of a nervous and strong solo campaign. Modern Warfare is back with old-fashioned gameplay that is more grounded and efficient. The generous amount of content adds some depth to one of the best chapters of the saga to date. Magic!

Overall Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a good title that is marred by the expectations that the Modern Warfare name brings with it. The campaign has some really stellar gameplay moments that are brought down by the mediocre plot. Multiplayer was fun but felt a bit like the competition’s output (despite there being no Battlefield release this year) which may be a turn off for some. I don’t think Modern Warfare 2019 has done anything to make me rethink waiting for substantial price drops to play Call of Duty campaigns, because clearly multiplayer is still Activision’s main focus and that’s just not where I get my kicks.
