Great game except for the batmobile driving controls as well as the overall invasiveness and the lack of boss fights. Everything is top notch like graphics, combat, world design, story etc...

This game is excellent! The visuals on the Playstation 4 looks AMAZING! The story feels like being in a Christopher Nolan Batman movie. Driving the batmobile is a lot of fun, but it is a bit tough to actually control the car. The map is way, WAY bigger than arkham city. In conclusion, this game is a crap ton of fun!

Simply the best Arkham Game I have ever played . The best gameplay mechanics with the best visuals , presented in such a stylish manner creates the most visceral Batman experience yet . The game tackles a lot of darker , more mature themes as it concludes the brilliant trilogy produced by Rocksteady . This is a must for any fan of the series .

Was so tempted to give this game a big fat zero, but that's very unfair of me. Despite it's flaws it is still a good game, but it isn't great like it was hyped up to be. In fact it is a major disappointment.

    - Story is lackluster (a lot of missing villains and predictable story) - Lack of boss battles, literally it's just the same repetitive predator missions or tank battles - TOO

    - TOO MUCH BATMOBILE. The game is too heavily focused on the batmobile.
    - Lack of new changes to combat, no skilled fighting enemies or martial artists like in Arkham Origins
    - NO CHALLENGE MAPS! You heard right, there is no challenge mode in this game. Just Augmented reality challenges, and you can only use play as batman and his stupid car.
    - DLC galore, expensive season pass and too many dlc exclusives.

The game is a real shambles, and has failed on so many levels.

Complicated review, even completely discounting the DLC rip-off and the PC fiasco, because I hated the Batmobile so much.

Only considering the PS4 game, it was a good but frustrating game. The graphics, voice acting, Batman combat, variety of things to do and open world were all great! BUT THE BATMOBILE WAS HORRIBLE. I REALLY WISH IT WAS IN THE GAME AND *REALLY* WISH IT WASN'T FORCED IN

I really hated nearly everything about it and the it took a 9.5 to a 6, sadly.

I loved the old Batman games and this one is so much more and factoring on the Richter scale as far as graphical improvement. No possible way this should score in any field below (6) no matter your feeling on the developer or the publisher or the color of the box it came in.

This is most certainly a next generation game and if you have the next gen Console you will be missing out if you don't at least try it. I was hesitant too, because of the bad reviews on places like Metacritic, but it was unjustified. they knocked it out of the park. (9/10)

I have maybe 10 to 12 hours in the game at this point. The time put into building Gotham by the Rocksteady team must have been staggering. I am a fan of the entire series and am simply amazed at the detail found in this rendition of Gotham. The lighting and shading is nothing short of quality art, once again thanks to the team responsible. The combat is as usual fluid and better than previous titles. If you felt Batman was a bada55 before this title, you will think he is a pi55ed off bada55 in this addition to the series. The story is just fine, all the trolls who call it predictable should be laughed at. It has a lot of predictability about it, but really most games do, move on with your negativity. The presentation of the story is where it counts. If you are a fan of this genre and Batman, you will be pleased. The game is deep in storyline and I probably have not scratched the surface. Like previous titles there is a plethora of choices of what to do, where to go, who to inflict Batmans will upon. The addition of the batmobile is no deterrent to the greatness of this game. Remember this is not Gran Turismo or Forza, it is an open world action game. Anyone who tells you the driving in any comparable games is great is lying. No GTA, or Saints Row, Godfather, Watch Dogs, etc, has perfect driving and maneuverability. Arkham Knight is no different, and the inclusion of the batmobile is welcome. Realistically Rocksteady didn't need to and the game would have sold the same number of copies. That said it is a bonus and provides a nice touch. This game has the graphics, the gameplay, the story and adds up to a compelling and very fun title. Idiots will be idiots, in 2015 we are surrounded by them. We all know them, always negative, always tearing others down to attempt to justify their ignorance. Join me and laugh at them, my life is good and I look to enjoy finishing this great game. Sorry to the children who have nothing better to do and are angry at mom and dad, your reviews are laughable. Thanks again Rocksteady for putting forth great effort to give us a very capable game. A great narrative - Arkham Knight features perhaps the best story from the Arkham series and does a good job of both exploring Batman's Psyche and concluding the series. It's surprisingly funny - For a game that has a lot of depressing and sad moments, I have to admit some of the dialogue put a massive smile on my face, especially during the Johnny Charisma scene, I'd even go as far to say I laughed more at this then I did at the Deadpool game, but then I'm a big fan of dark humour.

Great performances - As usual Kevin Conroy proves that he is the definitive version of Batman, and John Noble gives a chilling performance as the main villain of the game Scarecrow, the supporting cast do a great job as well especially Ashley Greene as Barbara Gordon/ Oracle who made me care about a character I've never been that bothered about. A few returning cast members completely steal the show but to talk about that would be spoiler territory.

It's undeniably beautiful - For what I believe is the first time in the Arkham series the player is finally allowed to explore the entirety of Gotham, and it's a pretty big map with plenty of attention to detail, character models are also well designed especially their facial animations, and while I'm talking about graphics I have to say I love how when rain hits Batman you can see it running down his cape and cowl.

Combat - I'd argue the combat system from previous Arkham games is one of the finest combat systems in gaming, and Arkham Knight has now perfected that system, combat feels brutal, looks stylish and is easy to master, the addition of the dual play mode where players can switch between control of Batman and other members of the Bat family during specific combat encounters is just the icing on the cake.

    The Negatives

Too short - I started playing this game on Tuesday night and have only put around two to three hours per night into the game at most, yet I had the campaign finished by Thursday night (so around 6-8 hours for the campaign) and a further four for the majority of side missions, the only thing I have left to do in the game is find the Riddlers trophies and I've only played for around 12 hours, could have been a bit longer.

The Batmobile - For such a big part of the game, they really screwed the Batmobile up, the controls feel bad (although this can be fixed in the options of the game) and overall using it as a means as transport is kind of useless because you end up missing out on seeing the city itself, plus it's much quicker to simply have the Batmobile fire Batman into the air, and then glide across the city. The Batmobile works best as a Bat-Cannon
Over reliance on the Batmobile - You can tell Rocksteady had a lot of faith in the Batmobile because they force you to use it during the majority of the story and side stuff, whether it's to solve a puzzle, destroy waves of tanks, car stealth, Riddler races, or even boss battles. After my first hour of the game I was already bored of using it.

Car combat - This is a weird one, I don't personally know how Rocksteady could have done vehicle combat any better than they did, but it's just so boring, you dodge little arrows telling you were enemies are about to shoot, and then you fire your Canon at the enemy vehicles to destroy them, it doesn't sound bad on paper but when you have to do it almost every mission, with some waves featuring around 60 enemies vehicles it gets stupidly boring stupidly quick.

Boss Battles - When I play an Batman game and I'm put up against villains such as Arkham Knight, and Deathstroke I expect to be able to fight them in hand to hand combat seeing as that is where they're expertise lies, however they are instead Tank Battles. Other villains are reduced to Invisible Predator missions where the big boss goes down as quick as an average goon, while other villains such as Penguin, Azrael, Hush, and Firefly are beaten in a button prompt. There's not even a Scarecrow fight in this game which is stupid when you consider how much praise those sections received in Arkham Asylum

Car stealth - Batman being a master of stealth is a big staple of the Batman lore, however never did I expect stealth sections that take place inside the Batmobile, and I'm not talking about tailing an enemy back to their hideout or something like that, I literally mean hiding behind buildings to avoid the sight of an armoured tank that can only be taken down through a special shot into the back. It's not fun in the slightest and is kind of unintentionally silly.

Side Quests - The side quests in Arkham City were perhaps one of the best sections of that game, but here most of them fall flat, with most of them lacking much in the way of story and only really being their to add fan service and a bit more length into the game. They're not overly fun either requiring you to complete the same objective over and over again until you catch the villain of the quest

Batman: Arkham Knight is an amazing conclusion to the arkham trilogy. The game has an awesome main story with a variety of twists to keep you interested and Most Wanted missions that are fun to play and make you feel like a detective. Even though the batmobile was a little overused, the rest of game made up for it.

There are lots of cool new moves for Batman, like the slow motion takedowns, which you can chain into multiple ones.

The side missions are plenty. Though lots of them are rather redundant. You want to complete them just for the sake of completion, not because they really mean something. And having an open world with side missions like this is rather counter productive, as these side missions interrupt the narrative.

The presentation has been greatly improved. It's really like playing a movie. But there won't be any long cutscenes to put you into a passive position for too long.

The combat is as great as ever. But the gamepad is overladen with combinations, making it difficult for newcomers to get accustom to.

And there are lots of variety when it comes to stealth. You have plenty of ways to handle a situation.

Overall, I like this entry way better than its three predecessors.

The lighting effects in the city are colourful and can be seen from each end of the map, the sound is eery and suits the games overall mood. Performances by the voice actors are convincing although the same voices are used for all the normal enemies, John noble as scarecrow does a very good job and despite what some people have been saying I think batman is suitably voiced for the game. The batmobile can be a chore to use sometimes but it doesn't effect the overall experience in my opinion and does well to mix things up. Driving around the city in the batmobile can be thrilling as you get a good sense of speed and the controls are very responsive making you feel accomplished when you pull off a tight turn. It's the tank gameplay with the batmobile that can be a drag and it is used too often throughout the game. The normal batman mechanics such as the excellent combat and stealth sections are as good as ever.
The side missions are varied although some are better than others but none of them are bad. The story is the games strongest aspect followed by the batman gameplay, there are a lot of surprises in the game and you always want to play more. The game is brilliant don't listen to the negative reviews!

The story is engaging (as expected, due to no multiplayer) and has varied side missions which are highly entertaining, especially the Riddler puzzles which add another aspect by including the batmobile. Whilst on the topic of the batmobile, in all honesty, it was a let down. It is relied upon too heavily at times, and although it's fun to powerslide across Gotham city, personally it detaches from the 'Batman' feel of the game. I much prefer gliding across the city like a bad-ass butterfly. The add ons (Harley Quinn, Red-hod and Scarecrow mission packs) are also very entertaining, but quite short. The combat is what makes the game in my opinion. The freeflowing combos and the addition of the fear attack, makes the melee engrossing and addictive. Nothing better than beating the crap out of a thug, in true emphatic Batman-fashion. The options to plan out your attacks is also a great feature, which gives you more choice and makes the game more strategic. To briefly summarise, the game is beautiful and fully utilises the next-gen, however the batmobile is relied on quite alot and the story/side missions could be longer, however the melee and the range of missions push Batman to a solid 9/10. The game has a few more puzzles this time round and this is a welcome addition, as they are also a bit harder than they were in previous instalments. The voice acting is exemplary and the story seems great so far as well. The only thing that even slightly disappointed me were the batmobile controls. In order to enter battle mode, you need to hold down L2 and keep it held down, or else you'll drop back into pursuit mode. I really couldn't understand why they did this; nor could I understand why reverse was assigned to the "square" button. This made batmobile gameplay awkward at times, but thankfully, there is an option to toggle these controls once you get past your first visit to the GCPD, which is great. And even so, the other awesome elements that Rocksteady have put into this game just completely overshadow this. New enemies, including brutes and medics are welcome (if annoying) changes to the combat and fear takedowns and dual play are perfect additions that both feel batman-y. The batmobile is just awful, what could of been a fantastic addition to the series if used sparingly is instead forced on the player so much that it feels like a chore every time you're forced to jump inside the heavily controlled vehicle.

The story itself is decent enough, nothing special, but it serves its purpose. I think where this game shines is within the side activities, they're this games saving grace.

Overall it's a very bleak game, for every moment I felt the game was excelling there were five moments where I just didn't wish to continue playing any further. Such a disappointing end to what was once one of my favourite series in gaming.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When this game was announced I was looking forward to it and reserved the Special Edition PS4 with the game. At first it was fun, but the Batmobile kept popping up and needed to be used to complete parts of the story. It has lousy controls and drives like a brick. As a GT6 fan it reminds me of a Bugatti, very fast but not really driveable. I feel that the Batmobile gets the "starring" role in this game and Batman is just there to minor things. As with Batman Arkham Origins you quickly get put into situations that are frustrating too early in the game when you barely have started to play. As others have said, Batman does not use guns, he abhors them, but we are forced to use the Batmobile that is armed. I don't ever remember the Batmobile being a tank, except in Frank Miller's story( but he called it the Bat Tank).
As I write this,I'm approximately 6% through the game and I'm completely frustrated by the over reliance on the Batmobile. During battle mode the controls are really clunky and fighting both aerial and ground forces at the same time is aggravating. The camera controls don't function well and the weaponry takes forever to reload. If Bruce Wayne really armed the Batmobile, this would not be how he would do it. It's supposed to be a Batman game , no a car / tank battle game. I really enjoyed the first 2 Batman games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) but this one leaves me not so happy.

I find it kinda sad that everybody gives games zeros just so that its score goes down. This games deserves at least an 8 but I'm giving it a ten because of the people that gave it a zero.

Arkham Knight is a really good game, though the batmobile is used a lot, it's still a great thing to drive around the world. I don't get the hate for this game, it's still a great game like Arkham City, it's storyline is good, the characters are good.

The Arkham Knight was a predictable character half way through though.

It's still a great game, despite the reviews.

This game doesn't deserve the 6.7 user score that it's been given so far; although I agree with the preorder haters on this busch league system they scattered amongst gaming distributers, these reviews are for the game itself not about the way it's DLC is distributed. As for the PC users, its hard to feel any sympathy when on every form you're bragging about how much better PC is than console gaming then come crying to the console user scores when the PC version doesn't work. This game is a solid 9/10. If you loved Arkham City then you're gonna love this game, basically same thing just better graphic and an amazing addition with the batmobile. It is a bit frustrating sometimes how much they implement the Batmobile into every other mission but it's a new toy and all they try to do is show off it's features. The story mode is emotional and shocking to say the least, the fighting feels just as good as Arkham City with updated moves, and taking flight through the skies is absolutely beautiful and satisfying. I'm cutting right to the chase, this game is a 10, so far in this generation of gaming I've been let down more then i've been thrilled, amazed, liked or even just felt content with a game i've been looking forward too, that all stops with Batman: Arkham Knight, this game lives up to all the hype, the hype that began with the surprisingly great Arkham asylum followed by the even better Arkham city, I was actually a little worried leading into Arkham knight because it wouldn't be the first time that a game studio knocked it outta the park with the first 2 games of a franchise only to come back with a disappointing 3rd entry, that is as far from the truth as I can get with Arkham Knight, this game delivers on every single aspect...

    Combat
    Gliding
    Driving
    Tank battles
    Detective segments
    Rescuing people
    mini boss encounters
    Major boss encounters

If you name it, this game has it in spades and in a surprising twist, this game actually has a lot of funny moments (That I refuse to spoil) and a few really dark moments that make excellent call backs to Batman's comic history, I was even surprised that there were actually a few jump scare moments that I wouldn't have associated with a Batman title, this truly feels like a Next gen title and the Graphics are second to none, he way the rain slides down Batman's mask and cape look extremely real that it's hard to imagine that it was all generated in a computer, to give this game a 10 feels like I'm under selling it but that's highest the scale goes, so a 10 it is.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent game and long time in coming for me as I didn't care for origins. Great graphics (the new consoles almost beat my PC but are still quite stunning! ), lots of encounters and side quests to do, great batmobile and the mechanics to go with it plus thoughtful upgrades to go with it.

There are some who are saying there are no boss battles, but this isn't true, there just aren't as many of the frustrating "throw out the game mechanics that made the game interesting and whale on a giant health bar for 10 frustrating/boring minutes" that, after 30 years of gaming, has grown more than a little stale!

A word of warning, the game seems a little bit more twitchy than earlier editions but then I did just admit to being old! ; p

I would urge players to play a few hours before judging the game. I'm about 1/4 way through the story and having a blast at the moment. Gotham looks amazing,, the attention to detail is awesome.

The charactors are all memorable and all have some very cool/funny dialogue.

Gameplay is great with numerous ways to take down enemies. The only gripe I have is it's sometimes difficult to track down a side mission (I guess its supposed to be this way to make use of detective mode)

The controls of the batmobile are in reverse of virtually all other games which wouldn't be so bad outside of the fact that you cannot change them.

The motion sickness that you get from this game is really bad if you suck at driving this vehicle as most people will since the game does nothing to actually show you how to use the car. The view of the car will randomly change if you get in too tight of spaces and then it will wildly spin the entire screen out and you will have to stop playing to reorient yourself and then die. You will die a LOT. I haven't felt like this since the 1980's Nintendo battletoad's which wouldn't be so bad if the entire game didn't feel like the jumping level. I felt like the game is punishing me for not liking vehicle games and I shouldn't be after paying $60 for it.

In short, this is indeed a fitting end for Rocksteady and WB games. These two companies have increasingly treated players like cash machines rather than customers. Their support, since the start, has been a joke. They have been releasing game after game without actually ever addressing the quality concerns. Arkham City was the greatest game of the series and it had SAVING issues that wiped many players out and it was basically ignored by them.

I am finished with these two companies for their complete lack of customer service ideals. I am a retailer and will not be pushing these games at all.

Made an account to talk about this game, and I have to let a lot out of my chest. There have been a ton of negative feedback all over the place with this game. I understand PC user's frustration of not being able to play this game, that's a huge bummer, but don't knock the score out until you can actually play because trust me it's worth it. This game is glorious on all accounts, the visuals, the gameplay, and the story. Holy crap the story... I think it's beautiful and well crafted, and I was kind of worried since Paul Dini did not return to write this game. My god, the people at Rocksteady definitely knew what they were doing as this is a great Batman tale, probably high up there as the best. Batman has never been tested as a character as much as he is here, and it's astounding to see how he pulls through.

Like a lot of other people here, I'm not entirely a big fan of all the Batmobile combat missions. They were too long, and there are too many for my taste. However, what's amazing about this game is that it allows you the player to take control of the paste. Don't want to continue the main mission that has a high chance or a Bat-Tank mission? Well then explore the city a little bit, solve a murder case, catch that thing flying in the sky, save Jack Ryder, hunt down penguin, or try to solve one of those brain teasing Riddler trophies. Trust me, the Bat-Tank missions aren't as bad if you play through it that way.

I've read some threads about how people are disappointed with how they utilized certain characters and left questions unanswered. One in particular was about Hush. Yeah, I wish he had more to do, but he was on his way to destroying Bruce by attempting to kill Lucius and take over Wayne Enterprises. That was satisfying enough for me, but I can understand that criticism. Also, I would have liked a fist fight with Deathstroke, not a tank fight. Other than those gripes, all the sidemissions were fun and allowed you to get a better understanding for these villain characters.

All in all, I'm not sure what all the humbug is about. Perhaps you'll see me in the forums retorting back at your claims of the game being bad because X reason, but I would say that if you're a big Batman fan then all of the things Rocksteady does in this game will be truly satisfying.

Most of them are from PC gamers not reviewing on their own page and others don't review the whole game just the worst part of it. Even Witcher 3 can be the worst if focused only on the negative. Since the negative's are really easy let's start with the one.

-Batmobile combat. The combat of the Batmobile will take you out of it. Without a doubt the worst part of the game. Sadly there is quite a bit of it. Thankfully they are not that long and can be beaten quickly. Driving is fun but it takes a while to get used to. Once you do though it is rather fun but some disagree. Personally I have had no problems handling the batmobile in non-combat mode. Even if you don't like driving it you can get around the city just as easily gliding. This really about does it for negatives sadly it's a pretty big one and does bring the game down.

    Pros:
-Story: Simply Sublime best it's ever been.
-Combat: As Smooth and fluid as past games. It's not super different from past iterations however more aggressive AI adds that little touch to make it fresh. Also the ability to team up with fellow heroes to beat on villains is amazing. Switching between them is easy and the double take-downs are satisfying to watch. I hope more games figure out how to implement this.
-Navigation: As mentioned above simply driving the batmobile is fun at least for me. I had no real problems with the handling and hunting down villains in cars with it can lead to some great chases. However, if you find yourself having difficulty with it going on foot is just as viable. Zipping up buildings to glide across the city is even better than Arkham City.
Puzzles: The puzzles in this game are interesting and unique. The puzzles feature the best use of the batmobile. For example one puzzle involves using a winch to create your own ramps to get across some buildings.
-Villains. This one is a hit or miss depending on who you are. Some of the boss battles are sadly not as elaborate as Arkham City's. Some of them like Two-Face you can beat with a silent takedown. Which in my opinion makes sense and I prefer to the classic 3 hit-point of older games. You may like it or not just saying it's there. However, the character themselves are fantastic as usual.

Conclusion: Overall this ties up the Arkham trilogy from Rocksteady superbly. If your a fan of the past ones this is a must have. However, it should be mentioned if you plan on playing it on PC and found your way to the PS4 page by accident. Just go there to find out all the reasons it's an awful idea. Judging the game purely on it's own merit and not awful ports. It's one of the best games of the year. Honestly, hopefully PC gets a patch soon so they can experience just how great this game is.

I admit that the batmobile was hard to use at first but as time progresses I mastered it. I wont say this persons (and refer to him as "this person") name but it was amazing to see this person, that whenever I saw this person, I would stop what I was doing just to here the words this person had to say. Enjoying every bit of it. I no longer thought possible for a upgrade in any aspect of fighting. But, as Sefton Hill himself said, there was still so much they could still do. And they did. the fighting was awesome and flashy, kind of felt like I was playing some sort of Japanese fighting game with the flashy booms and colorful streaks you left behind with a punch, and the combat is as smooth as ever if not more so then ever before especially with the new edition of dual play. I also believe the predatory was amazing, considering that with gameplay they showed so far, they still made it hard as hell. There would even be times that up to 15+ men would be n one room. And there is enough things in there that can aid you in taking on those 15 dudes. The plot is something I wont spoil but will say it is more interesting then recent DC comic titles and I NEVER felt like the batmobile out did the Bat himself. Of course I prefer flying (yeah when you upgrade him far enough you can un officially flying around Gotham to the point I should be wearing a red cape......which you can as a bonus skin), but when duty calls I love taking the Batmobile for a spin(still trying to learn how to do a donut). Another thing is, is that I was scared of the possibility of a empty Gotham. LOL NOPE, it is littered and riddled with side quests and riddles. and there are some very cool ones, like the mysterious identity snatcher(yeah were have I heard that one before) and creature that flies around causing a mistaken of identity with the thugs around the city( who also provide a ton of easter eggs to characters we all love and know) . Honestly I aint a professional reviewer and I probably said some things no one gives a flying rats ass about, and was probably as informative as a hyped up friend who know less then you do. I have to hand it to the story writers of the game, as writing the story for this game was clearly a labor of love, and they had to have some talented people working for them that really have respect for the batman universe, and I personally have no objections with the way they've wrapped up this series (as far as the story is concerned...more below!).

On the other hand though, the mechanisms they used to deliver this story (gameplay) was something that I have serious problems with. This title is loaded with anti-climactic non-engagements with many of the main villains, and has absolutely ZERO boss fights.

Some will argue that the vehicle battles with the Arkham Knight leading up to the final encounter with him would count as a boss fight, or that the final vehicle battle with Deathstroke is a boss fight (which is exactly the same tank battle as the one with the Arkham Knight). Those people would be missing the point entirely. There is absolutely no direct engagement with any of Batman's rivals WHAT. SO. EVER. Not in any way that should be considered a "boss fight" anyway.

It's almost kind of cruel that the game is designed for you to go through the "Most Wanted" quest lines, which are basically side quests that have the player going after the various major villains that are central to the Batman stories, and once the player completes the quest line, they might be rewarded with a pseudo-boss fight (as with Deathstroke), or get to make a "life-or-death" decision (as with the Azrael quest line), but no actual fight or battle takes place that presents the player with anything that resembles a challenge.

Having a great story is a very important part of a great game, but robbing your customers and fans of any sort of finality or closure by not giving them any engagement whatsoever with any villain in the game other than vehicle fights and skirmishes with henchmen is, at least in my mind, extremely lazy and unforgivable.

The script for this game would have been better off being sold off to an animation studio for another animated Batman movie because that's essentially what Rocksteady gave us with this title...an interactive animated movie.

It's unfortunate because up to this point, I really enjoyed the blending of a great story with an action packed games through the Arkham titles, with boss battles that while not the most difficult in the world, presented some challenge and kept me engaged with the story that was being conveyed. The formula for Arkham Knight just fell way too short for me.

I would strongly recommend waiting to find this game in the bargain bin. Definitely do yourselves a favor and don't make the same mistake I did by paying full price for this "game."

New set of challenges to include the new batmobile. The upgrade process also makes sense as you do have all your gadgets from Arkham City. You upgrade on your suit, combat, enhance your gadgets, batmobile etc..
I read lots of reviews that batmobile doesn't fit. I totally disagree. It is fun to play with. And including it on missions does make sense when the game does. Saying the tank battles was forced is unfair. Because here is the catch. You have a new supervillain who assembled an army to kill batman and get rid of him for good. Now expecting batman to face those tanks with his gadgets is just not fair at all. Batmobile fits 100% in.
Side missions aren't interesting from my point of view. Saving fire fighter team, investigating serial killer case. no not really interesting. Specially if that serial killer case isn't feeding into the main story. Then it is totally our of place here.
Now back to WB and Rocksteady heap of DLC exclusive to different editions and consoles. This is totally bad thing. And having a season pass with a price almost to a full game price. This is none sense. No matter what this Season pass include. From what I'm seeing so far It's not worth even 30$. So don't but the season pass till you finish the game completely and then decide whether you want this or not.
For me Arkham night is a game that I will play and try to platinum it and then trade it. I don't care about the season pass. I am 100% sure it won't add any new experience.

It does give you options. Batman has a huge arsenal of gadgets so the game does give you several way to take down enemies. So its up to the player to explore those options. The Arkham Knght character was billed as being a brand new character and some of its key plot points were pointed out before the games release despite Developers told players they were wrong. There is some disappointment in this game. The batmobile is a fun addition which quickly soon turns in to a crutch. Where you must take the Batmobile just about everywhere, including inside buildings to solve puzzles, Riddler or not. Riddler is back and quite possibly boring more then ever. Side quest are reduced to instead of adding extra story elements to enrich the story to defeat soldiers x amount of times(10+) or disarm mines to engage in Bat tank vs Tank combat over x times(10+) and so on with no reward other than..its done. The games Story how ever is fully engaging despite Arkham Knight's identity is quite predictable Scarecrow and his Fear toxins puts you on a fun ride but sadly the batmobile quite possibly starts to ruin you experience. The game looks great and sounds better than ever.

Challenge Modes have also been removed. No longer can you pick Cat Woman, Nightwing, Robin/etc in predator missions or horde style map challenges, its just Batman with less stealth and more tank. For that reason I give a game that could have been the best, a 6 out of 10. It could have been a great game but it was ruined by weak side quest, Boss fights are all reduced to Bat Tank fights or cheap clone fights from previous games and the over abundance of the Batmobile is annoying.

The gameplay is what you come to expect from the Arkham games, fast, fluid and action packed, with various side missions to complete and the ability to use the Batmobile in conjunction with puzzles and main objectives makes it feel like an essential part of Batmans tools and not some gimmick! The story isn't as strong as Rocksteadys other outings, but it does the job well of telling a well crafted story. And the graphics is pure eye candy! The moment you "even the odd's" and then the Batmobile makes its first appearance, the detail is amazing and how it can chew through nearly anything is a blast. I would give it an 8 or 9, but because people are being unfair I'm going to give it a 10 to help "even the odds out" (pun intended).

Moving on to the review, the game is exceptional with splendid graphics for an open world game with amazing rain effects I have ever seen and light effects (Though the Witcher 3 had better light effects for the PS4) But nonetheless the graphics are phenomenal.
The story seems to be quite good though not something very memorable but still acceptable and good. I won't spoil it for you hence won't concentrate on this bit and not forgetting by the end the bat mobile can seem a bit over repetitive.
The music, sound and voice acting as usual is amazing combined with no loading screens and amazing cut scenes make the game even more immersive.
I would definitely recommend the PS4 version of this game or Xbox One and its definitely worth the price tag but we have to question whether the price tag of the DLC is really worth it? I think not and this should not be encouraged.

One of the best 'next-gen' games i've ever purchased. The mechanics are solid, the graphics are gorgeous, the story is great, and the mechanics are very enjoyable. Almost NO LOADING screens. You load in the game initially, and then you never hit another load unless you get Batman killed - failing missions usually doesn't even require a load.

Everyone who are giving this game 0 because of single thing they don't like are just plain trolls. And should not be allowed to speak in public. But we live in society where 2 idiots have more votes than single smart person so it is what it is. Idiocracy.

    1. GRAPHIC
People complain about Unreal Engine 3 used. They have no idea what they are talking about. Game look amazing. City is great. Lights, flares etc everywhere. Smoke, garbage etc. Environment can be destroyed on level never shown on any Batman Games. When you roam around Gotham in Your Batmobil, nothing stops you. Even concrete walls. Things fly everywhere.

    2. Batmobil. Batmobil is like Siren. You can't f**k it and you can't eat it. This is how I feel about this game. Rocksteady introduced Batmobil in this game. And it's amazing. During first hour or two. After that you upgrade Batman so he can glide better and faster and then Batmobil is just slower way to move around city. So you do some racing, tank battles (you destroy like 50-100 enemy tanks in one battle). It's like they got hammer and see nails everywhere. Batmobil is overused, repetitive and even annoying after a while (like 3 repeated activities with more and more enemies to destroy - plain and stupid).

    3. Combat. To be honest, it's just like before. They got hammer so they see nails everywhere. Batman ALWAYS was all about stealth. Arkham Asylum was perfect in this. Arkham City was OK. Arkham Knight is just plain TERRIBLE. They introduced few more ways to dispatch your enemies. Environment "stuns", chain attacks (where you can put down 3-5 enemies without chance for them to fight back), tag team etc. And you end up fighting tons of enemies over and over again. Only few sections allow you to play stealth. BUT combat is fun.

    4. Story. Story is OK. It's not great but have it's moment. Too bad is too obvious. And whole idea about Arkham Knight... well I won't give you spoilers but it's NOT new character. Rocksteady played it safe :-/. I like idea with second ending after you reach 100% completion. On the other hand - 240 Riddlers trophies? REALLY? I understand 50-100 but 240? Just finish side missions that have sense and then watch second ending on Youtube.

    5. Bugs. Game is very polished (I'm talking about PS4, they say PC is unplayable so much they halted sales on Steam). No frame drops (even during car changes where you destroy everything, move very fast etc. No crashes (and I finished the game). I'm amazed how good this game works.

    OVERALL:
There is less batman in batman but more combat, destruction and action. For me that's not a good thing. But still I managed to finish the game and I was very pleased with it. Worth every peny. Just go and buy it!.

The original graphics were nice, but i found the gliding to be very clunky and the grappling hook not being able to hook onto anything even when you are next to it. It seems there are fixed positions that you can grab onto, which is goofy.

There are a lot of reviews on here complaining about the batmobile, and for the most part they are dead on the money. The car slides all over the place and the movements are awkward. The controls for the batmobile are so awkward, that they should have kept to the standard car racing controls of any other game in gaming history. Not sure why they changed something when there werent any issues with it to begin with. The attack mode on the batmobile seems so forced and just isnt a fun experience in my opinion.

I played the game for about 30 minutes and was very disappointed and have sold the game already trying to get some of my money back.

This is solely my thoughts of the game and each player expects something else from the games they buy, and this one failed my expectations.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've so far completed 44.3 percent of the game including the side missions and the main story missions. Rocksteady studios totally taken this game to the full next level of Batman gaming, where they add in completely brand new contents and new mechanics to the game, Batman Arkham Knight is the perfect finale to end Rocksteady's amazing trilogy

Presentation: The game graphics looks way better then the graphics from previous Arkham titles, and it's even more amazing considering the fact that the game was made on the unreal engine software. The character design looks way better and more detail, like the bloody nose that Batman gets later on in the game. The open world is even better then in Asylum, City, and even Origins. Even bigger massive and more detailed then in previous games, with even more places to explore. The voice casting is also but even better then ever. Kevin Conroy has done an even better work in voicing the Batman and the legendary Mark Hamill returns as the wild, and amazing batman villain: The Joker! I was so happy to hear the return of Mark Hamill.

Gameplay: The gameplay of Knight feels so much more astounding then ever. The gliding mechanics Has been improved with better Ariel controls and faster gliding speed. The combat in the game has also been improved. Now you can pick up melee weapons and use them to knock your opponents, plus you can perform a devastating counter attack at times. Even better, you can now sometimes play as other characters such as Robin, Catwoman, or even Nightwing. The biggest part to the gameplay I would think is the inclusion of the Batmobile.

Batmobile: The batmobile makes its first appearance for being driven in the arkham series. Rocksteady has done a very good work in making the batmobile. Most people don't really enjoy the batmobile and I think that they go to final conclusion right away that the batmobile is very clunky and hard to control. Now I spend many hours in the past two days driving the batmobile almost every where I go. The people just didn't get use to driving it since this is completely brand new. It was hard for me at first but I managed to master the batmobile battle mode and regular driving mode from just by practicing. The only problem I had with the batmobile is the breaking. You need to press the square button to break but I always press the L2 button that goes into tank mode. I think the main problem is that I played many racing games in the past and the L2 button is the break button. However the batmobile is still such an amazing vehicle to ride in and to fight in and that is probably the biggest thing that batman has done. There aren't any batman games in the past to include the batmobile to drive in. And I'm not counting the comedy Lego batman games.

Final Verdict: Rocksteady truly did a remarkable job on this game, and I could totally see a reason for dealing it in the first place from last year. If they haven't delayed the game, then this would be just as bad as the movie Batman and Robin! I understand that the PC version is having loads of problems and that WB games are trying to fix the game, but the PC I'm sure will definitely get fixed. I don't know why many people don't consider Arkham Knights to be better than Arkham City, but this is way better than Arkham city. The Presentation is even better with a much longer lasting appeal, a suspenseful and thriller story, and the visuals and the world is simply remarkable. The gameplay is simply more fresher and works even better, and the batmobile makes it a true dream come true. Batman Arkham Knight is definitely the game of the year. Which is why it deserves a 10/10. I hope you find this review to be helpful.

Batman: Arkham Knight follows the adventures of Batman in this latest installment of Batman games. I will try to keep spoilers to a minimum in this short review. Please keep in mind that this review is subjective, as well as my opinions do not necessarily reflect a gaming experience on other platforms.

In my opinion, the presentation of the game is very good. The game has a very high level of detail and graphical fidelity. At the same time, the framerate is generally smooth and consistent. As graphical glitches are rare and far between, the game looks great and provide the player with great visuals. The audio is very good as well with nice environmental effects, good voice acting and a very good soundtrack. While some minor audio problems may occur once in awhile, it does not detract from the general impression. Overall, both the visuals and the audio help the player to have an immersive experience.

As for the story, Scarecrow is back and it is up to Batman to stop him and his band of other villains. The game structure is divided into a main storyline and side missions. As such, the player have some influence over the pace of which to complete the game. It is worth mentioning that the storyline is rather linear and predictable, and some people may find the plot to be weak and a bit dull overall. However, it is possible to do various side activities and missions which add a little bit of variety to the game.

Many of the game mechanics are very similar to previous installments. Batman has the ability to move around on the ground or in the air, and much of the fighting consists of hand-to-hand combat. The combat segments feel fluid and smooth, with a blend of fast-paced moves and slow motion knockdowns. Fighting styles and moves can being upgraded as one earn skill points and XP. Further, it is possible to acquire various gadgets which can be purchased with skill points among others. A new addition to the series is the ability to use the Batmobile. By using the Batmobile, the player participate in car chases and races, as well as fight enemies, for instance vehicles and tanks.

In terms of gameplay however, the enemy variety is rather limited which may be off-putting to some people. At the same time, the boss battles are somewhat mediocre, and the game may seem a bit easy for a player who is familiar with these kind of games. While the introduction of Batmobile adds more gameplay, some people may find it to be overused at times. The racing sections may feel out of place once in awhile and the combat sections involving the Batmobile lack a bit of variety.

In summary, Batman: Arkham Knight is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. In my opinion, it is a good game and I would definitely recommend it for the fans of the series. For other gamers who are not very familiar with the Batman games, Batman: Arkham Knight may be a bit generic and uneventful at times. However, I would still recommend the game for fans of action/racing games when the price drops.

To me in reality it's a solid 9. Admittedly I was underwhelmed with the game to begin with, but that's not surprising considering I was concentrating on the campaign which is (quite sensibly) of a similar style to the two (and a half) previous versions of the title. My advice would be 'don't just throttle the campaign', allow yourself to make use of the mission wheel that will have you up to all sorts of additional content, and this is where you will find many new concepts in the game. The Batmobile is not as big an issue as it has been reported here and there, where it is heavily utilised early on (in the campaign) to introduce you to it, it moves on quick enough. I have found the majority of Batmobile activities are in the optional sidequests. Personally I am really starting to love having it in game, now I am getting the hang of using it, a few upgrades help too. Definitely use the 'toggle battle mode' in the game options if you prefer a traditional L2/R2 brake setup, and would prefer not to have to hold down a button at all times to remain in battle mode. The combat as always is great. I've read complaints about the simplicity, in regards to being able to just use triangle, which is a counter, and weak as **** Yeah it's a perfect counter that is almost invulnerable (early on at least), but if you choose to rely on it, then you're fights will be boring as hell and very long, which is on you. My experience with the Batman games has always been, the more experienced you get, the more fun you have. Seasoned players of the previous should defo go hard difficulty straight up.

    TLDR:
+ Plenty of new concepts and content in the well designed Mission wheel. The fun is in the variety.
+ Awesome combat that can be as simple or complex as varying players want.
+ Batmobile = Beast!! (and entirely optional for the most part after a few bits early on in campaign)
+ Enjoyment scales with your skill, the better you get the more you'll love it.
    - Potentially disappointing for those just wanting to smash the campaign. Rushing it could well ruin it.
    - City map isn't as helpful as it could be.

Although, there was something confuse me, Mark Hamill (The Voice of Joker) says it will be his last role. But, why does he voice Joker again? Does Rocksteady hires him again, with a lot of buck? Or... They don't trust other Actors (Troy Baker for example, since he played Joker in Arkham Origins). Nevertheless, Arkham is best to play...

Batman: AK looks gorgeous in the 1080p resolution, especially when rain drops are shined with bright lights and neon signs. 30 fps does not bother me at all, as it is minimum standard for passing IMO.

months after the death of the joker, Scarecrow threats the gotham city with his newest fear toxin. It is up to batman to stop Scarecrow along with his mysterious collaborator, the Arkham Knight.

Combat has improved a lot. The ability to use takedown on multiple enemies while in slow really immerses you of being batman. fighting along side of you are Robin(Tim Drake), Nightwing, and Catwoman. triggering dual takedown with these guys are very cinematic and awesome.

As always there are loads of side activities, collectables, and side quests to keep you busy besides main quest. Gotham city is yours to explore freely.

So if I like the game so much, why 8/10 and not 10/10? Batmoblie, that's why. Now, don't get me wrong, the bat mobile design is very cool and speeding through the streets is fun, but the controls are awkward. Why have accelerate at R2 and have brake/reverse on Square button? Most driving games have brakes on L2. This new control takes really long time to used to and it will screw you over, especially when chasing enemy vehicle or trying to make it in time at Riddler race tracks. L2 activates tank mode, but you have to hold it. Again, why not toggle? why hold L2?

Conclusion: If you ignore batmobile's terrible control, this is a great game. Don't let the PC BrokenRace discourage you. They're just mad because the game crashes constantly

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, my review does contain spoilers though it is debatable whether I am spoiling anything at all.

Arkham Knight was intended to be the epic (EPIC!) conclusion to one of the most successful gaming series of all time, with 2 GOTY's and after having Arkham City recognised as the best superhero game ever. It is fair to say that expectation were high but what was delivered was simply well below anything I could have expected.

The final entry to the Arkham Series displays none of the excitement, tension, enjoyment or emotion of any of its predecessors, from beginning to end the tension remains the same, with virtually no plot twists or worthy challenges along the way.

I'll start off by mentioning the good parts, the graphics were very good...now to move on.

What bothers me most about this game is that it does not even attempt to acknowledge the events or impact of the events which took place in Arkham City or Arkham Asylum. The game simply sets off on its own course with very little build up or explanation as to why things were happening. This issue gets worse as the game goes on and you realise that all of the cliffhangers and loose ends that were left at the end of Arkham City (or even a few from Asylum) were not going to feature in any meaningful way. Azrael, Hush, Ra's al Ghul, Calendar Man among others were in no way featured in the main storyline, instead they were relegated to small, tepid side quests, or simply not featured at all. Again continuity was not preserved as Hush is shown to be unaware of Batman's secret identity.

Another area of huge frustration was the absence of the Joker. The frustration with that was he wasn't absent for 75% of the game. He is literally in every room for 75% because batman has supposedly not gotten over his blood condition. He is actually more present than in the previous two games combined and as a result he loses his charm very quickly.

The Arkham Knight was not only a disappointment because of his identity, which is still puzzling, but be has he serves very little purpose and is shown to be an inferior enemy to the batman with very little conviction behind his actions. I simply found him far too shallow and it showed in the way he was deposed.

The conclusion of the game, bringing down scarecrow brought about no sense of emotion or achievement, I suppose you could say that scarecrow played his part in this game though, since I felt like I was in a nightmare while I was experiencing this most underwhelming of conclusions to one of the best video game series ever. Alas, it was true, one of the most hyped games was a complete disappointment.

One final thing I will say is that the two games which Paul Dini wrote were master passes in story and development, I can't understand why he was not able to conclude it. These games made me aware of so many aspects of the Batman mythos which showed that he was much more than a man in a leather costume, dressed as a bat, gliding from roofs and fighting psychotic criminals. He was a protector, a saviour and a legend but also a man with very human emotions and weaknesses, which allowed so many people to connect with this character. I felt like this game did a great disservice to the character and all his fans.

Although I have not yet finished the main story, it appears well thought out and the Arkham Knight himself as solid an addition to the DC universe as ever there was. As I'm sure others have said, the game does over-utilise the Batmobile, it does not in any way take away from the experience of the game. The world is rich and detailied, making free-roaming as fun as in 'City'.

I considered giving this game less than 10 but I don't feel that the negative reviews are justified and so want to bring its score up to what it deserves to be.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start with the positives: graphically (at least from a technical standpoint) the game is outstanding -- texture and model detail is superb, the effects are impressive, and everything looks solid; audio is also decent -- the music sets the mood without being intrusive, the crunch of fist against body is satisfying, and for the most part the voice acting is above average (although at times Kevin Conroy sounds like he's wearing ill-fitting dentures). The frame rate seems fairly consistent, texture pop-in is minimal, and all in all it's a good example of what the Unreal engine can do when it's pushed.

Brawling mechanics are largely unchanged, although it feels a little easier than before, the enemies are less varied, and there's less incentive to get creative. Occasionally Bats will still punch forlornly at the air rather than head towards an opponent, but it seems to happen less often than in Origins and the addition of a few tag-team fights spices it up, and overall it's still a fun diversion.

Unfortunately, from here it all goes a bit downhill. The first three instalments really felt like you *were* Batman, and that Gotham City (or Arkham Asylum) were real locations, but in Arkham Knight this sense of person and place are missing. For starters the city is too big, and due to some of the gameplay mechanics you're either high above it or at ground level in one of the (all too frequent) "World of Tanks: Gotham Edition" shooting sections (more on which later), neither of which allow for any real involvement in the location. In previous games I always knew where I was and could navigate by landmarks, but AK becomes an exercise in "follow the marker".

Other elements are missing: In City and Origins the street thugs played a central role in the game, but in AK they may as well not be there. The Predator encounters are few and far between, the environments they occur in are poorly designed, and there's little sense of suspense or tension. One thing I particularly miss is random street brawls; yes, they're available, but they seem pointless somehow -- there's little reason to ever approach street level on foot (and until you've cleared an area of all its tanks it's actually a recipe for death), and apart from the Riddler informants you gain nothing for your trouble.

If those were its only defects the game wouldn't be so bad -- still the weakest in the series, but enjoyable. What really spoils the experience, though, boils down to two things:

First, the plot. It's confused, predictable, dull, and at points you have to wonder how Batman can claim to be "the world's greatest detective" when "chemicals are being mixed at the chemical plant" is a surprise to him, or any of the other mind-numbingly obvious "surprises" that the dunderhead can't spot a mile off. Also, while it's true that Bats is a little emotionally unstable, this game paints him as being somewhere on the border between sociopath and psychopath, and while we're endlessly reminded that he "doesn't kill people" it certainly doesn't feel that way at points, particularly when the Batmobile comes in to play...

...and the Batmobile is the final nail in the coffin. The first time you get in it it's pretty freakin' sweet and the first time you switch to combat mode and blow up some tanks is fun, but the 100th time you go through the EXACT SAME "shoot loads of tanks" section the novelty has worn off. Despite acquiring upgrades the general combat mechanic remains the same (hold L2, fire a missile, strafe to avoid incoming fire while it recharges, repeat), and you get the feeling these moments are in there simply to justify the vehicle's inclusion. They're dull, repetitive, and feel about as un-Batmanlike as it's possible to be, and the less said about the lengthy, tedious, frustrating, and honest-to-goodness PAINFUL battle against the uber-weapon at the end of Act 2 the better. (The Batmobile even comes in to play in the Riddler side missions -- sure, some are puzzles and mildly diverting, but some are, I kid you not, RACES AGAINST THE CLOCK.)

I've replayed the previous three instalments several times, each time to 100%, collecting every last Riddler trophy, wiping out all the Most Wanted, the whole nine yards. Arkham Knight, in contrast, is getting traded in now I've finished the main plot (and I only persevered with that out of a desire for it to be over rather than because I gave a hoot about what was going on.

Origins may have been something of a let down at the time, but in contrast to this appalling mess it's an absolute gem. A bitterly disappointing end to the series; avoid it at all costs.

Second, you guys who are saying this game sucks for nonchalant reasons: have you actually played the game? Play through it before writing a review, please. And I mean all the way through the campaign.

Third and final, a lot of people are complaining and whining about the Batmobile and the fact that this game out too early. When it comes to gaming, the only thing that matters is YOUR opinion!

I am terrible sorry for those who did not enjoy it, but maybe those are the same people who enjoy CoD. Who knows? But wow, Arkham Knight took my breath away. It is predictable, yes, but does that ruin the game!? Heck no! It actually helps if you try not to think about it. Just play the game and enjoy it! But yes, the gameplay is flawless, graphics are stunning, story is on point, and the sound is great. Even the characters are wonderful. Come on: it's the same batman game we've been with since Arkham Asylum. Only this time, it's a lot bigger than Asylum and a lot more addicting then City. This game is beyond amazing. It never disappoints me tbh. And to all the Batmobile haters: I love driving it around. I don't care if it's forced on me, I'm going to drive it for fun because it's just THAT cool. I love it. Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.
