I gave this a lower rating after the first hour of play, I felt the beginning was weak, and didn't like the Batmobile very much. I'm now nearly done with the game and I felt compelled to alter my review. The story and acting while imperfect has some very well done pieces, and the game really picks up,especially once you get used to driving that damn Batmobile. I think this game is bigger than GTA V, content-wise (around the same as Witcher 3.) There are so much side missions, from rescuing Gotham's firemen to capturing Batman's most iconic villians.

The Riddler side-missions are unforgiving and they work your brain quite well. The story is great (cannot spoil a great and fabulous story!) Around 7 hours of story missions and gameplay, in fact more for the unexperienced players

The voice acting is superb, in fact, maybe the best in Rocksteady's trilogy. My favorite is main antagonist Scarecrow, he just sounds EPIC!

Kudos to Rocksteady for closing the Arkham saga with a bang!

I am not a full blown trophy hunter and if I was it wouldn't be for these lame city scouring adventures. Some parts of the game overuse the Batmobile in mission and can kind of get very tedious, but don't get me wrong because the Batmobile is still a very fun tool to use sometimes. The only part in the story that left me disappointed in was the super predictiable twist, I won't spoil anything though. Once you look past those minor things, Arkham Knight is such a fun game to go around and explore in now with it's huge map and with it's breath-taking graphics! The combat is the best combat in an Arkham game yet by bringing in new ways to battle. In conclusion, Batman: Arkham Knight is a great way to end the franchise and beats the god awful Batman: Arkham Orgins and slightly beats Batman: Arkham Aslyum. Expand

There is no doubt its pretty good as far as twist and turns but the ending(s) were pretty weak in comparison. Seemed like they didn't know how to finish the story then failed at trying 3 times.

Batman combat was pretty slick. Has almost the Arkham City feel just somehow not as fluid. I cant tell if there are just too many enemy types now or if they intentionally slowed it down. Seems like I was a much better fighter in Arkham City. I completed main story on hard mode in about 14 hours at a casual pace. I will say this game made me jump a couple times which I LOVED.

It looks really good however the rain definitely looks a bit off. Somehow GTA5 has way better looking rain. I think its the lighting style. Also it doesn't look very real as your driving fast.

I was expecting it to take me some time to get through the game but the main story is very short and I finished this game in 3 days which is a little disappointed given all the hype about it. People are complaining about the Batmobile and while yes it is a bit much at times that was this games big selling point, the thing that the developers pushed the most so it would make sense that you would have to use it more in the game, I personally think they should have had it in the game but not made it such a bug part of the gameplay snd story line. I would have loved to go back to the bat cave since that element was introduced in Arkham Origins (yes i know different developers). I was expecting this game to rival Arkham City with its game play, intricate story line, multiple interesting side missions, new gadgets but it fell short of mu expectations, I personally think this game was way to over hyped. I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would and I have enjoyed all of the other games even Origins. One user wrote that is wasn't Batman: Askham Knight it was Batmoble: Arkham Knight which is entirely true. There is so much more I could say but it would border on spoilers and if you love the franchise you should play this game and form your own opinion. Expand

The batmobile although great is used a bit too much and some boss fights or side missions disappoint. All in all, excellent action adventure and worthy of the epic series.

Side missions are brilliantly varied and balanced. I didn't even mind the odd tank battle side quest. But why oh WHY did Rocksteady decide that almost every meaningful supervillian encounter will be decided by a flipping tank battle?!
Arkham Asylam, City (especially) and even Origins proved how creative and exhilarating boss encounters could be, yet it is nigh on no existent. Every time I got my hopes up of a great boss encounter, I was faced with yet ANOTHER, more tedious than the last tank battle...even worse - STEALTH tank battle!
This gradually ebbed away at the fun in this game for me, leaving me slightly underwhelmed by the experience after loving all the previous games so much. I don't live for just the boss fights, but enjoyed them so much in the last games that I had high expectations that were treacherously dashed.
Still a great game on so many levels, but Why Rocksteady, Why?

The good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. If you've played those and enjoyed those you'll have a lot of fun with this game. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play themThe good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. If you've played those and enjoyed those you'll have a lot of fun with this game. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play them before you play Arkham Knight or you will have trouble following the story. (Arkham Origins is worth playing as well, but not really necessary for story purposes).

The gameplay can be divided into three different aspects: combat, predator mode, and Batmobile. Combat and predator mode are what have made this series shine for me and neither of those have changed too much. The big change to combat is the addition of team battles where you are fighting with one either Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing and can switch back and forth freely between the two. This is a great addition that works especially well with Catwoman since in her battles each character can only affect certain enemies and you need to constantly switch back and forth to be effective. The main problem with the team combat is that it's just not used much and you'll spend most of your time alone with Batman. Hopefully in the future some DLC is released where this is used more.

Predator mode has remained largely unchanged. You're hiding in the shadows and taking people out one by one while trying to remain undetected. The big change is the Fear multi-takedown ability which allows you to sneak up behind a group of enemies and take out up to three of them at a time. (This can be upgraded to a maximum of five). This may sound like it'd make predator mode too easy, but the predator maps tend to have more people in this series and the ability has to be recharged by performing silent takedowns, so there's still a good bit of challenge to be had.

The Batmobile is the biggest (and most controversial) addition to this game and this is the main reason I felt like the game doesn't deserve a perfect score. The Batmobile is used for three purposes, races or pursuing villains, head on battles with drones, and stealth battles with Cobra drones. Battling drones is the main thing you'll do in the Batmobile and while it is very fun in short bursts, it's not quite as fun as hand to hand combat and there's not really a whole lot of variety to the fights. The main problem with the Batmobile is there are a lot of these fights, especially if you do the side missions, and they can get tedious. By the end of the game I was glad I didn't have to do any more. Racing and chasing people was fun as well and there was a good amount of these missions so that I didn't find myself getting tired. The biggest problem with that is the controls are set up differently from most racing games and the Batmobile sometimes handles like you're driving on ice, but I got used to both of those fairly quickly. The stealth battles with the Cobra tanks were by far the worst part of using the Batmobile. Cobra tanks are too powerful to take on head on, so you have to try and get behind them and take them out from behind. It's kind of like a predator mode for the Batmobile except there's only one way to take down enemies. It starts off boring and doesn't change much from there. Luckily there's only a handful of these missions throughout the game, even including the side content.

Two other minor problems I had were the bosses and the challenge maps. Bosses have never been a particularly strong point of this series, but there's always been a couple of boss fights in each game I really enjoyed. I can't quite say the same for this one. None of the boss fights were really that fun or unique and a couple of major bosses were done as stealth tank battles when really the characters in question should have been able to face off with Batman hand to hand and been a threat. The challenge maps were somewhat lacking in this game compared to other entries in the series and there's too much focus on vehicular challenges with well over 50% of them using the Batmobile. And I was also disappointed by the lack of ability to tackle the challenges with other characters. Hopefully more combat and predator maps get added in future DLC and hopefully they allow you to use other characters.

Overall, this is a fine addition to the Arkham franchise and a nice end to the series. It's not quite as good as Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, but it still kept me glued to the console until I finished.

Just finished 100%ing this game to get the "true ending" and I just have to say that this game is awful. First of all, hiding your "real end" behind total completion is a practice I don't agree with, it just causes players to drag themselves through tasks they may not be interested in to see a few seconds to get "the full story". Besides that, I have never been too much of a fan of the combat and Predator mode, just always felt gimmicky with difficulty increases by throwing a ton more guys at you. This game isn't different from that trend, however if you are a fan of the style, it is refined. As for the world, it looks good and all that jazz, sound is great, but it is a pretty forgettable Gotham in my opinion. You just run from one island to the next hearing the same audio from thugs with not too much really there. As for the story, oh the story.... its clunky, predictable, and very tacky. The end of the game had me happy, pissed, then actually laughing at how bad it was. Arkham Knight's identity is obvious from a MILE away and there is a not too surprising return of a certain villain... But the worst aspect of all is the Batmobile.... An addition that could have brought a breathe of fresh air to a series that I was starting to find quite repetitive, but instead the game had me dreading the idea of ever having to jump into the car. Which they had me do. A lot. This addition isn't showcased and given a great debut, rather its forced down your throat at every turn. Plus the drone combat gets very old, very quickly. Overall I would say to avoid this game altogether unless you are a huge fan of the series. Expand

Now I am not going to spoil the ending but I only finished the first tier of ending (there's 3 total). My review is based off that first ending. The story was very intriguing. When I was younger I use to watch the Batman cartoons and even some of those old reruns of the old show (I'm 25 now but I saw those reruns when I was 5 or 6). I even saw and loved the first four batman movies. I love the Dark Knight trilogy. When I was 10 or 11 I loved watching Batman Beyond on cartoon network. Having said all of this I have never been into comics. I feel that the story of this game does Batman justice.

I took one star off because there are no boss fights outside of using the Batmobile. Driving in the batmobile is fun but I feel like it's forced too many times.

Best Batman game so far. i can play like a whole day after buying the game. And i even forget to continue to play the witcher 3. LOL

Can't explain about the graphic, it's awesome in every detail. The storyline is great. the best thing in this new batman game is the BATMOBILE!! it's quite hard in the first time actually. The way we solve The Riddler puzze with batmobile is enjoyable.

Personally, I was hoping it would be this way as it was all so perfect in the previous two titles.

If there was something I can pick on, it would be that the Batmobile can feel a bit clunky, but that aside the Batmobile is badass, it has a perfect place for this game and its so good to see it in use.
I've notice people are complaining that it is "over used."
It belongs to Batman. It is iconic. It's supposed to show usefulness in a driven and highly engaging environment. Again this is opinionated, but I honestly didn't feel that was a problem at all. Infact, I LOVE all the car chases.

I didn't seem to realise this, but there was a lack of boss fights in the game. I was so engaged in the story and combat to really notice, but I can understand others who may have seen this as a downfall.

    In a nutshell:
    Pros:
    - Excellent Story telling
    - Amazing graphics
    - Combat system is still epic as usual. The core mechanic is left the same so you wont be disappointed if you liked it in the other games.
    - Upgrade system is more refined and makes you think more on what to upgrade to assist your situation at the time
    - The same gadgets are back, including some new arrivals/enhancements which are really cool.
    - The Batmobile is badass. Enjoy cleaning up the streets.

    Cons:
    - Some gadgets can be underused. I didn't feel I needed to explore through them often as I should have. (The line launcher did have much need at all)
    - Batmobile controls and movement can feel a bit clunky
    - Side quests can get a bit tedious.

    Overall, another masterpiece for 2015.
Arkham Asylum has been my personal favorite, but there is so much to love in this game. Rocksteady again, continue to make legendary games that will go down as the some of the best superhero titles to ever be released.

This **** game is broken on so many levels. Long cut-scenes, short gameplay and WAY too much batmobile. I just started new game plus and now there are no indicators on enemies heads to show if they are attacking. None. It's like playing the game blind. **** Rocksteady for this atrocity. Arkham city is vastly superior to this garbage.

-Batmobile gameplay ruins this game. Repetitive gameplay destroying drones and tanks which increase every level you advance. Gets ridiculous at times.
-Other gameplay gets repetitive and old. It's a feeling of more of the same if you've played the other 2 games on 360/ps3.

    The Bad:
BATMOBILE, BATMOBILE, BATMOBILE. It is featured way too prominently, almost half of missions are done mainly in it. The tank battles kill the arkham mood, and the racing levels don't work as the car, although great, isn't the best handling wise. If they only cut down on the use of the bat mobile it'd be an awesome luxury, instead it's an annoying crutch.
LOAD TIMES. Terrible, especially if it's an area where you fail repeatedly.
Riddler trophies (Personal opinon), there are too many and are required for the secret ending and fighting The Riddler. I know it's an arkham tradition, but there are too many and it's really tedious collecting them.

Can it be frustrating to drive at times, sure, but it's CERTAINLY not enough to warrant giving this game the low scores I've seen popping up on the user AND critic scores recently. Unfortunately, Rocksteady put themselves in a no-win situation: either the Batmobile was going to be used too much or not enough. I say shut up, play the game and enjoy Rocksteady's final entry to the Arkham series,

I couldn't have been more disappointed with this game.

It's nothing we haven't seen and done before in the series. It coasts by on a series of recycled elements and poorly executed new ones.

Remember how Hugo Strange and Joker would taunt Arkham City to break the will of the inmates, or Batman? Here Scarecrow combines those two things… badly. Remember how stealth was challenging but rewarding? Now skill has been taken out of the equation. The Batsuit is upgraded: the first time you use it you can speed takedown three armed thugs at once with no effort. Remember the clever Riddler puzzles? Now he's into underground death races – why? The first challenge you solve is pressing the circle button on the controller. The Riddler hostage missions have been swapped for the Firemen rescue missions so that's not particularly original or interesting either. I laughed at the contrivance of the Riddler creating a perfect Batmobile sized elevator for entrance to his death race track though!

In previous games Batman would get on the Batphone just enough. Here, like a teenager, it seems he's never off the phone. He even gets into a conference calls! He relies on Oracle so much that I started to think he should use his "genius level intellect" to do his own detective work.

Let's talk about the Batmobile. It's AWFUL. It handles appallingly and the controls are counter-intuitive to every driving game. The game forces it on you by having entrances only the Batmobile can open. There's a rooftop jump sequence that wants to be like Batman Begins, except it's clunky and frustrating because it's so hard to pilot. It feels like a cross between GTA IV and a tank/mech combat title which is not a nice mix. The game shills it on you by flashing up [L1] ENTER BATMOBILE at every opportunity yet if you weren't forced to use it you could get the job done just fine with Bats on foot. The game shills it on you again by having the criminals chat about how cool it is, how they'd joyride it. I read that the final third of the game relies upon it, and I have to say after an hour in the city and repeatedly trying the first Riddler challenge I never want to use it again. The tragedy is that the Batwing would work well in a city this big, but once again it's just drops plot items. The Batwing could have been fun. The Batmobile isn't.

The new Batsuit makes ol' Bats tougher and faster despite being heavier. Lucius Fox technobabbles about how and why but it's irrelevant. The grapnel boost/gliding mechanic of Arkham City required finesse but was satisfying. Grapnel Boost Mk II requires no skill as it punts Bats so high into the air. Allied to the same old combat (now with a camera more likely to get in your way) it feels like there's no skill to it. Before, a few bullets could kill Batman easily so you had to be careful. Here you can blunder in and not worry - where's the fun in that? The thugs might as well have Nerf rockets coming out of their guns. Their AI isn't significantly better, either.

What is better are the graphics: better lighting, sharper textures and more fluid animation. This doesn't mean much as the story and dialogue are so crummy - if you've played the others you'll notice how much is badly cookie-cuttered from them. You still get some framerate drops too. Like The Witcher 3 (a better game) the text is too small; game developers need to remember not everyone has a huge TV and perfect vision.

Arkham Knight was built up a lot. It's one of the reasons I bought a PS4, that and for the new Deus Ex title. But it just feels tired. Apart from the Crapmobile nothing I've done is new, it's all just on a bigger scale. It's a blockbuster game which feels as formulaic as any Call Of Duty title, even with all of Gotham at your feet. Missions are: go to point A, beat thugs, stand there and press X to make Batman do a thing (rescue a hostage, pull off a control panel), go to point B, meet one of your allies, finish mission, do it all again.

I'm in the minority being so critical. But Arkham City - close to perfect in so many respects - set such a high standard that it was always going to be tough to follow. Everything feels less polished here, graphics aside, as if Rocksteady were making it all things to all gamers but even with a huge team couldn't make the different styles and story twists work. Kevin Conroy's usually masterful voice acting as the Dark Knight sounds tired, hoarse and forced as the character is even more moody, broody and humourless than usual. In a way this mirrors the Nolan movies, in that it gets too dark and po-faced to be fun.

I don't understand how this game is getting 80-100% reviews in respected magazines and on top rated websites. Chances are, I'm just wrong and this is a brilliant game. It just doesn't feel like it to me, sorry.
In my opinion save your money and go play Arkham City again - or for the first time if you're lucky enough to not have played it yet, because it's fantastic.

Well i've got to say Batmobile is pretty awesome, its like adding another 50 % of the gameplay-since half of the time almost u are using the batmobile-and suddenly u play a different game than the 3 games before.
Now the batmobile itself,it is georgeous,it feels georgeous but it lacks on some parts :
1)It has extreme handlings making it pretty OP in the game.
2)there is too much gameplay with it
    3)it get repeatitive,not easly,but it gets

Now,lets not forget this is a new-gen game and on this part Batman does a good job too!
The world is not massive like witcher 3 for example but it is so detailed making an outstanding atmosphere and combining the city while using ur car on chasing thugs and **** its an impresive feeling

So overall u would say this game is pretty amazing, however, the most dissapointing thing for me is the combat!Although they add some new mechanics like enviroment knock-out(batman never kills, although he smashes their skulls)or multy-takedown and stuff, the combat seems very easy even on hard difficulty and it is completely souless...the thugs can be like 100 yet they hit in total slower than u do alone, batman is acting like the nightwing when he jumps from one corner to another 10 feet away corner, the sounds are ridicoulous and thugs fall down like puppets...i know its pretty much the same with the old games but with this potentiall and the atmosphere it feels even worse, having granded that we have played 3 more batman games with the same fking combat system...

Overall its a very good game and i think is worth buying,i just feel like all these stuff could have been added on batman origins or even batman city 4-5 years ago, having the ultimatum of a game!

So firstly, I am not grading this game at all based on the controversy surrounding the removal of the PC version. Whether or not it was a wise decision is a matter of opinion, and the situation does not degrade the games polish on consoles.

SO with that being said, this game surprised me a little. I was very much expecting more of the same tried and true Arkham formula. It is there for sure, but the addition of the Batmobile and some downright brilliant voice work and writing was enough to immerse me in the world of Gotham once more. Add to that some nifty new gadgets and a larger playground full of more to see and do than ever before, and you have a worthy conclusion to the first truly worth Batman series.

Now that being said, it is a lot of the same song and dance. Plot twists are abundant, and even somewhat surprising. I won't spoil anything here, but the problem Batman faces this time around is a unique one, that manifests itself in some very creative and memorable ways.

Its got a good length, with a main story that will last about 14-15 hours straight through, but enough side missions and unlockables to keep you busy for dozens more. A wider variety of AR missions makes leaderboards relevant, but is the only aspect to multiplayer.

I see some sloppy animations from time to time, which normally I would consider nitpicking, but this being the final entry I feel these problems should be worked out by now. Rocksteady said themselves that they were not looking to make the largest game ever, but a decent sized sandbox focused on detail. They succeeded.

    8/10, Its gorgeous, its well-written/voiced, it....is.....BATMAN!

definitely try this game out for yourself you will find a good Batman experience similar to that of the others. But definite view story and gameplay changes or new mechanics that you may love or not so much.

    The story

Following the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham city this is supposed to be the last in a great franchise. A lot of fan favorite villains are back and going straight for the dark Knight on Halloween night. without spoiling too much early on you encounter a twist in the story line that in my opinion takes the brilliant focus off of scarecrow being the main villain. Which is a disappointment considering that scarecrow was supposed to be this new super villain which he is still very interesting and executed very nice. As for the others you don't really see them unless you do the side missions. And then we get to the Arkham night which is a awesome character and a surprising one. You know the comics and some the movies you will probably guess is secret identity couple of missions before you fight him. Overall there are some good moments that create for a very cinematic Batman experience. But sometimes a few of the story elements over shadows characters. Gameplay. An overall the experience.

    The gameplay

If you have played the previous ones you can easily pick this game up and beat up villains like it wasn't nothing which is a good thing when it comes to the controls and button layout. They definitely made it feel updated and that it flows together nicely. They also made use of new and old gadgets and actually made them useful in both combat and stealth scenarios. You actually feel like Batman when you have to you use gadgets in detective scenarios which has been completely redone which is good they are never the same and always feel like they have a purpose. Not to spoil everything but there are moments when you can team up with other iconic heroes such as Nightwing. Or Catwoman these moments are really awesome and can create some fantastic memories.

    the Graphics

the game looks really good I mean really good if you have seen the trailers they look just as good if not better. Especially with some of the cinematic moments with the Batmobile or a cut scene it looks very gorgeous and the game runs very very smooth on the PlayStation 4.

    The Positive
+ Easy to pick up and play for veterans and newcomers.
+ Scarecrow is a great villain along with a few others.
+ New mechanics to stealth (multiple takedowns. Or more use of gadgets)
    + the game looks gorgeous.
+ Beaten up criminals with iconic heroes is just awesome.
+ It's still a Batman game that you can just have a good time with.

    The Negative
= the story can become predictable.
= the Batmobile can be annoying and frustrating at times.
= I don't feel like they are many side missions versus the previous ones.
= They took out the ability to play as different iconic heroes/characters in fun challenges.
= don't be expecting new villains ( they are mostly all returning fan favorites that you have captured several times by now)

!Overall this is a very good game that delivers a good Batman experience and that will definitely keep you entertained while his week of two if you are trying to get a platinum trophy or just taking time enjoying the story and side missions. But when you compare it to the other ones you would deftly notice the flaws.

Honestly, the game creators should have titled it Batman: The Batmobile. Further, the DLC released for the game, such as the Harvey Quinn and Red Hood dlc were completely underwhelming. Now, concerning the constant nitpicks:

Yes, there is a ton of batmobile. No, it is not a bad thing. In city, there was a lot of detective vision, and a lot of batclaw, and the fistfighting got quite boring after a while. Knight offers 2 types of combat, and the tank/ pursuit combat got boring as quickly as the predator combat, and that requires 300+ hours of fighting. That's what the batmobile is- an alternative to those who feel that predator gets boring. It is also a nice nod towards Batfans.

The batmobile is also a gadget that is used as much as detective vision in the previous games. And on top of all that, on exploration of Gotham, you will find that the batmobile is only forced upon you during about 25% of the story, and as a fun gadget, form of combat and mode of transportation.

In Gotham, the skies are pretty empty, and I feel that gamers would complain about "not enough Batmobile" if it was used less. You can never please some people. Also, the story is the best and has the best plot twist in the series.

Overall, This is one of the greatest games ever, with too much criticism for its own good. Wind Waker also got criticized like this for its graphics on launch.

I'm just a pc user going on this right now and giving it a negative review for ps4 because it wont run well on pc... that's totally not the reasons, it's because of the repetitiveness of the batmobile and the terrible story and predictability... shut up...

It's not forced on you. I've thoroughly enjoyed the surprises that I've encountered so far and the Main story is well written and has some " oh my god " moments.
The season pass is a rip-off but we don't have to buy it and the score shouldn't be affected by that.

While I agree they could have downsized the use of the bat mobile as a tank by a it, it isn't nearly as frustrating and a deal breaker as some have said it. People like to complain, and it seems as if this game is their new target. I've seen people complaining that the game has far too much things to do and variety? What? Seriously? It´s an open world game, for Christ's sake.. When a developer offers fewer options, people complain about it, when it gives dozen of side missions, lots of different enemy types to deal with in battle and in predator mode and a huge number of was you can deal with enemies, people say it's too much? Go understand.

I've also seen people complaining about the side missions, saying they are unrelated to the main story... Again, WHAT? It´s a side mission, it's supposed to be like that, and while it's true they don't follow the main story line, all of them play a huge part in the plot and really feel like missions from the Batman universe.

Go play the game and check for yourselves, I haven't had this much fun this generation yet. I'm currently at 87% of completion and about to start new game plus. This is the true Batman simulator and it´s totally worth it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After reading all of the negative reviews, I can sum all of them up with one simple word, WHINERS. Everything they're complaining about makes no sense and leads me to wonder how much the game they actually played thus far. Nearly all of the rants are about the smallest insignificant details or they're simply asking for too much. They're like Yelp reviews who give restaurants 1 star for not giving them water within 2 minutes of sitting down.

Now, for a more honest review...

    The good:
-Improved graphics: Graphics are definitely next generation quality with improved textures and backgrounds. Watching the waves in the water was mesmerizing in itself. The new Batsuit was one of the best additions and it also got rid of the underwear on the outside look too and seems so much more tactical.
-Expanded cityscape: Gotham just got more interesting now that it's an actual city. You got the financial district that is Founder's Island, it's own Chinatown and other little tidbits like a downtown reminiscent of Times Square.
-Batmobile action: It's basically a tank which makes sense. Batman needs fire power and driving this thing around is awesome. The funniest thing is that if you're ever cornered on the street or just come across people you don't want to fight, call the batmobile and you can just incapacitate them.
-Side missions: So much more to do than just Riddle missions. Stopping TwoFace and Penguin along with other villains like Firefly and Deathstroke
-Overall storyline: Good story with Scarecrow unleashing a massive attack on Gotham. It's suspenseful and chaotic as Batman traverses the city to stop him. Some of it is pretty predictable but this isn't a Dan Brown novel. It's a Batman video game.

    The bad:
-Identity of Arkham Knight: SPOILER ALERT!!!!! This was arguably the biggest disappointment in the game. When they first announced this character, everyone speculated it being Jason Todd but since Rocksteady stressed 'original' character we figured it wouldn't be. That was until you fight him a low and behold, it is essentially the Under the Red Hood Storyline. Just slightly altered where Todd is manipulated to hate Batman instead.
-Platform issues: PC got the short-end on this whole ordeal.
-Saving: I wasn't a fan of the saving process in this game. The only time the game would save was if there was progress being made in the game which makes sense but sometimes, after finishing a mission I'd just explore a bit and not complete anything and when I go to quit the game will warn me about when I last save but won't give me an option to save before quitting. Basically, saving is relied on completing a mission/objective which i found to be quite annoying.
-Playable characters: Even though Nightwing and Robin are in this game, we can't play with these characters for extended period of time. If Batman happens to team up with his partner, then we can switch to them during fights but that's it. They also work it into the story where Batman constantly refuses help from his counterparts as well which is even more annoying. Why there weren't more 'team' missions when you have these characters doesn't make sense. It's like a tease.
-Batsuits: One thing the last Arkham game got right was being able to explore the batcave and all that came with it. While Batman doesn't has a few more remote bases like the clocktower and the Wayne Tower, you can't really change suits or anything like that within the game and you have to exit the game in order to do so. Not cool.

Overall, with the amount of content it has, it's worth the full price.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have never really been a huge fan of the Arkham Series but was an exceptional series that inspired games like Shadows of Mordor and Assassin's Creed emphasis on the simple combat system. My favorites games in the Arkham "Series" were Origins( though the reasons why it was hated the most because of plagued bugs at launch) with new ways of observing crime scenes and Arkham Asylum with it being the first to introduce the players to a intriguing world. Though City was good, the story was monotonous and filled with ridiculous side chores that got boring after just a few hours trying to solve them. Now with Arkham Knight being the last game in the "Series", does the Dark Knight prevail through the nights or fall in the darkest depths of Gotham himself?

    SPOILER FREE

Seems like the Dark Knight prevailed to the soaring skies of Gotham in this last installment of the Arkham "series" . The game for one is one of the most beautiful games that even renders well on the 8th generation of console though my sympathy are going to the PC players. I don't really need to tell the story since its been at least a couple years since its announcement with Scarecrow is threatening Gotham with his new fear toxin and Batman has to stop him from doing so. With a "New" Batman villain named the Arkham Knight going against the Dark Knight himself as he tries to go through many obstacles to save Gotham going in utter madness. The story of the game is good yet predictable. Most of the time from what you'd be guessing ( if you know the biography of the Batman world) would be right since they tend to leave out twist of the game so exposed that you can see the confrontation a mile away. Overall the story is simple yet predictable which is disappointing for the last installment for the "series".

My main gripe with the game is that is emphasizes on the Batmoble or to be honest the BATTANK because there isn't really much fun blowing unmanned drones in a game when you have to do it several times. The best times when using the Bat Tank is when using it to solve the Riddlers Riddles because it is pretty inventive on how they utilize the Bat Tanks arsenal. Either you'd be railing down on the wall and riding with the walls to solve the riddles or powering up the switches with the power cables. Combat is fun and fluid than ever before. The Bat is faster, brutal, and more varied in his attacks like using the Bat Claw to pull his enemies towards him just to slam down against their chest or using a Critical Hit with the Voltage gun to stun the enemies that surround the Bat. It's not always bashing and beating as the Bat since the enemies will have guns which will make the player think more on proceeding through the fight. The Predator gameplay has always been the same and has been improved by one new mechanic called the Fear Takedown. The Fear Takedown mechanis is a fast and quick loud takedowns that can look awesome and occupy up to 3-5 enemies base on the upgrades which the player use Wayne Tech points throughout the game. There are more that I don't really want to spoil so play the game yourself to see what makes you the Batman.

The game took me about 30 hours to fully get a 100% on the story and side quest. It was a fun and exciting adventure for the final installment on the Arkham "Series" and I hope you guys play it too. I say its a buy.

Ps. One other main gripe in the game is where the hell are the challenge maps? I can't play the characters that are shown playable freely. I heard it's coming in soon buy if I have to pay for it then I am going to be so furious.

Graphically, yes, it looks pretty amazing; HOWEVER, I am left wondering how much is being obscured by the dark, rainy ambiance. Unreal Engine 3 is aging and it hasn't really aged well, not into this new generation at least, so I think rocksteady is getting away with hiding the blemishes with the setting. Whatever the case, they did it well and it looks really good.

The problem, at least for me, is that the gameplay is more of the same Arkham series stuff with an (arguably) inferior control scheme. If you've played any of the games in the series, then you already know what the combat is like. Mash the right combos for the right enemies, hit evade when the warning prompt shows up over enemies' heads, pick up a weapon and free flow into using your gadgets. If you're a huge fan of the series, then you won't be disappointed except, maybe, for how Batman feels sluggish more than in the past. If you're looking for something new, you're in for a disappointment. EXCEPT FOR...

The Batmobile is finally here! Unfortunately, it's way overused to the point of frustration (looking at you, 7+ Cobra Tanks at once) and, really, it's just the same combat situation as on ground: Evade missiles when you see the prompts, fire your vulcan cannon and 60mm gun to build your combo meter, unleash your combos when you've built up enough. Different song but same dance. The camera following the Batmobile when in car mode is novel at first as it gives you a real sense of movie action hero gameplay but, because the Batmobile is used for way too many elements in the game, the camera starts to become a bothersome hindrance.

If you want the FULL ending, you MUST 100% the game. I will openly admit that I did not as I ended at 95.4% completion. I did everything BUT collect all 243(!) of the Riddler Trophies. I have better things to do with my time than collect 243 obscure trophies. Sorry Riddler, I have YouTube. The side quests are fun distractions that bring out a bunch of other super villains but some of them border on way too long - especially those gated by the story missions (watchtowers and road checkpoints, specifically).

All in all, I do feel I got my money's worth but I have a bit of buyer's remorse because I doubt I'm ever going to touch it again. The AR missions do give it a good bit of replay value, as does the New Game+, but after trekking through the main story and all the side missions, I really can't see myself going back to do it again or wanting to challenge myself in AR missions for minimal (or no) reward. It's better than most games have been of late, so there's that.. but most games of late have set the bar pretty low (Witcher 3 not withstanding).

I also don't like how the pre-planned season pass seperated content that should have been in the game to begin with. There was great variety in side missions, but some of them went on for too long that it became a tedious grind to complete. And I think it's absolutely stupid how you need to 100% everything to get the best ending even if it makes sense for the sake of concluding the story.

And lastly, the riddles...some of the trophies are unattainable if you don't have the correct upgrade, making them missable if you sucked all the XP you can get out of the current playthrough, thus locking you out of the real ending, thus forcing you to play through New Game+ to get everything right. That is f***ing harsh, and something that should be patched immediately. Perhaps Rocksteady should let us players continuously earn XP from street fights, like in the previous games?

Despite my subjective and personal hatred towards this game, it is still a decent game in general that should keep you busy for at least a week. But it is a HUGE disappointment after what we got from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. I am sad that this fantastic series is over...but at the same time, after playing this game, I also can't help but think - good riddance!

-1 point for the over-emphasis on the Batmobile. The stealth tank battles are a little tedious, but they didn't greatly detract from the overall awesomeness of the experience. If everything else was simply as it had been in the previous game, I honestly would give this game a 10.

    However...

4 crappy combat challenge maps--no rounds either, just one continuous fight with new waves of enemies appearing mid-combat, which some may appreciate, but I prefer the old system--and 4 decent predator challenge maps. Previous games had 12 of each. Well, technically, there were 6 of each with "extreme" variations on the original 6 maps, but there were still 12 combat challenge map options and 12 predator challenge map options. Also, only Batman or another pre-determined player is playable in any of the challenge maps. Given that the previous game allowed us to play as Batman, Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing in any challenge map, one would assume that the next game would expand, not reduce this feature. Furthermore, this feature should have been expanded, in my opinion, because this feature is what gives the game great replay value and is therefore the primary justification for buying it at day one prices. (Yes, there are other challenge maps involving basic gameplay and way too much crap with the Batmobile, but these just aren't as fun.)

Therefore, -2 points for the lack of challenge maps. Hopefully, this gets corrected with the Season Pass, but at a minimum, Rocksteady/WB Games should have notified fans about this when advertising the pre-orders.

Lastly, +1 point to compensate for the misguided PC gamers who have given this review a 0 because the PC version was totally botched. I totally agree that the PC version is a 0, but this page is for the PS4 version. Please post your 0 rating in the appropriate place, PC fans.

    In conclusion 10 - 1 - 2 + 1 = 8.

First off, let me state that this game is absolutely beautiful, it tells an engaging and harrowing story, and plays incredibly well in both combat and stealth. The negative point that I will give to this otherwise fantastic game is that it takes a little too long to rev up to a consistently varied and dynamic experience. During the first 20 minutes you're engaged in an interesting story but it takes another hour to open up the world in a meaningful way. The initial batmobile combat is not very interesting and felt like a chore and the initial mobs went down without any thought except smash X and Triangle. However, once you start getting into the open world, upgrading your batmobile, this game is fantastic.

They mix up batmobile gameplay in the same way they do with regular gameplay with stealth missions against superpowered tanks, with a hacking system that allows you to take control of drones, with chase sequences with a particular supervillain, and with some of the most thrilling and entertaining race sequences devised by the riddler. The hand to hand combat quickly ramps up with new threats being constantly introduced and devious combinations of giants, gunmen, stun rod wielders, shield bearers, medics and others. The story itself never lets up with an series of crescendo set pieces that even have minor breaks for you to pursue the secondary criminals.

All of this doesn't mention the stunning graphics. This is easily one of the best looking games out there right now and with no load times as you zip around from rooftop to rooftop, it's truly a next-gen experience. The game is great! 2x bigger map, the story is great, side missions are more detailed than in previous games. The bat mobile is fun. I can't stop playing this game on the evenings like GTA V. Pleasу don't believe haters - most of their reviews are dated - 24 of June. It is impossible to understand game in such short time.

Some things in the game can become a little repetitive but this issue is easily fixed by mixing it up whenever you start to feel it, so don't force yourself to stick to one type of Objective at a time.

Story is great fun and keeps you wanting to progress the main story though i strongly urge you do some side things in between story missions as it really adds the lions share to the game and allows for some run ins with familiar faces!

Bat mobile handles like a tank at first, but after a while you will realise you aren't supposed to control it perfectly, you're meant to take out every statue and chunk of concrete along the way, it's very cinematic and after awhile the bat mobile felt pretty natural and all in all i had no issue with the controls.
Though i do have one gripe with the bat mobile, i feel far too much of the side quests center around it, infact 3 of the longest side quest chains utilise the bat mobile almost exclusively and well.. i wanna be batman with my bat gadgets doing batman things.

Over all its a great game and i highly recommend it, but, i urge you to play Asylum > City > Arkham knight as it is a continuing story and some references will be a little lost on you.. but if that doesn't worry you then have at it!

    P.S
You can choose to just avoid any side missions you don't enjoy, so it's really not all bad and the bat mobile is surprisingly not the fastest way to travel around gotham, ejecting yourself from the drivers seat and using your grapple gets you where you need to be in half the time!

Also despite what people say this game DOES have challenge maps and you unlock them by playing the game, they go under the name AR challenges now but are the exact same thing,Some people obviously didn't play the game far enough before ripping into it.

The Story was so awesome but this game suffers from the overuse of the Batmobil. Where the previous games based on an epic mix of stealth and combat Arkham Knight is focused on destroying tanks in too many ways.

However, where are all the side missions and stories? The game just feels like an empty sandbox with nothing to do. A huge part of what made the previous two games incredible was their rich content. Their stories were amazing as well. This game just seemed to branch off in a completely different direction and it had no focus whatsoever. Where are all of the loose-ends and villains from the previous games? Additionally, while the Batmobile may be fun at times, mostly it is just a nuisance and it takes away from the experience of being Batman. I miss the feelings that came to me when playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. This game seems to have ignored everything the previous two games had to offer. It is the biggest disappointment, in my opinion, to ever come out. Again, visually the game is stunning. But this game has none of the magic that made the previous two games so special. Overall, it just feels like a rushed and unpolished product and a lazy excuse for a finale that people have waited four years for. Expand

The world is beautiful and detailed, and as a comic lover i enjoy the vast story tied together in one hellish night for Batman. But Arkham Asylum was tighter, the story was just as good with the amount of villians you didn't see, catching glimpses of their lives in the Asylum before the breakout seemed to give them more mythos than the clumsy way some are simply ham fisted into Arkham Knight.

The Batmobile is hit and miss, using it more sparingly may have been better. After the first few battles i was thinking "great, another tank battle". I do enjoy swinging round the city in the Bmobile and some of the chase parts are fun; but, overall too much was given to the tank battles.

I still think the game is excellent, but it's a little bloated and the world doesn't feel as alive and engrossing as Asylum. I've enjoyed the story so far, it feels like a graphic novel akin to the long halloween but less like the collection of comics that Asylum felt like.

Arguably the best Batman game to ever have been made, the game really comes down to whether or not you like the inclusion of the new Batmobile. For me, it was a good distraction at times and, at others, a minor annoyance, including a main story mission entirely dependent on the Batmobile. The car sequences wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't made it such an integral part of the game. The car sequences wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't made it such an integral part of the game. Too much emphasis is placed on the Batmobile throughout the entire game, IMO, and the game would have been alot better for me if I wasn't forced to use it so much for so many different things. What could have been a nice change of pace for the rest of the game feels to much like a necessity that is being forced down your throat and I don't like that one bit. That doesn't take away from the rest of the game and the improvement they made on pretty much everything else. The story was excellent, even if the Arkham Knight turned into a goober halfway through, and it feels like good closure to the storyline. They did leave it open for some kind of sequel in the future but who knows what that would even look like. I'm extremely interested in seeing where Rocksteady goes from here. I wonder if they will stick with this 3rd Person-Action formula they seem to have perfected or will they go another route. I feel like it'll be a good game regardless as they have proven themselves to be extremely good at what they do. Expand

I enjoyed a lot of this game but feel that there are too many staples of the "Arkham" series missing. We can only play challenge maps as Batman and they are now known as AR Challenges. My biggest gripe with this game isn't what a lot of people are annoyed about ( the identity of the Arkham Knight) , but the way that the game features zero hand to hand or innovative boss fights which is what I'm used to from the Arkham series. I guess you could class the batmobile fights as Boss fights but to me they did not have the same feel at all , i can remember having to actually experiment gadget combinations to take down bosses in the previous games , whereas there is none of that here. The closest thing we get is a Dual play encounter with a "Press L1 to win" sequence and a predator "encounter" ( if you can call it that) with the Arkham Knight.

I think the batmobile was focused on way too much , and im not against its inclusion , its the degree to which it is used , the only way this advances on Arkham City in my opinion is in the Graphics department , which baffles me because if Rocksteady spent more time on getting the story straightened out and giving us the 1v1 H2H boss fights we were used to , this would probably be my favourite game in the series.

The plot overall is fine with me as i heavily expected hallucinations of the clown variety the second it was announced Scarecrow was the "main villain" in this game. Mark Hamill reprised his role brilliantly and I think John Noble did a terrific job as Scarecrow. I was a fan of the Panessa Studios sequence in the game where they relied on plot details from Arkham City , but i thought there were other elements they could have relied on or fell back on also , for example Clayface is not even mentioned outside of some posters for movies and the Al Ghul's are also omitted.

The Soundtrack is once again brilliant and doesnt have too much of a different vibe from previous games , to be expected as it is the same Audio Director again. I enjoyed this game but I feel like I should have gotten a lot more out of it , and I think its ridiculous to go from having so many challenge maps in Origins (I know that wasn't Rocksteady but still consistency please) to a paltry 4 combat and 4 predator maps in Arkham Knight.
I think the worst think about this game is not having boss fights as every previous games has had a fair few of them , and City had some of my favourite boss fights of all time , it's a shame they couldnt top themselves again with Arkham Knight but im hoping the Season Pass adds more combat bosses , very disappointing that they relied on the Batmobile so much for combat and boss fights , seeing as i thought some of the ways the Batmobile was used in puzzles and Riddler sequences were genius.

Conclusion: I thought Arkham Knight would effortlessly top Rocksteady's previous efforts , A lot of my faults with the game can be remedied with good DLC but i feel like i haven't been given what I was promised and that sucks , I miss being able to spend hours and hours just on the combat challenge maps. I would replay Asylum and City and speed run them because i knew there were some cool boss fights to reward my efforts. I rushed through New Game + and i'm already struggling to find motivation to go back to Gotham

A lot of them are side missions you don't have to do.. so if you don't like it, just don't play the missions.

The return of "you know who" was good, but they used him way too much. Would've been better in smaller doses.
I hated the batmobile at first and though I've come around and enjoy it way more than the majority of people (or so it seems) the game still relies on it too much.
Although some individual parts of the story are downright brilliant the overall plot when looked at as a whole is fairly wonky and convoluted.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First the story is very predictable if you know anything about Batman comics. If you don't know too much than you will probably like it more than i did. The whole Tim Drake / Barbara Gordon thing comes out of left field and really isn't necessary. I mean actually the Arkham Unhinged comic actually says Grayson and Gordon had a past relationship. Which makes it wierd to the point it is actually distracting. Tim is practically Barbara's little brother. They could have inserted Spoiler into Barbara's kidnapping position and at least I wouldn't reject it. The Arkham Knight's identity I figured out 6 months ago when they first announced it so that fell a little flat. I mean really what major Batman character is missing and could possibly fit the bill. But they did do some really amazing story-telling tricks with flashbacks that I loved. Also the Joker was very entertaining. Moving to missions - Locking out the other islands or gadgets required for side missions makes going out and doing them in the first place difficult. I did Nightwing's because it was so easy and requires practically nothing. Which is not very rewarding to not be challenged in the slightest. This also bugged me that they blew off Batman's greatest ally with the excuse of "Oh no... You have to watch Bludhaven" Yeah like that place has Scarecrow toxin turning into a literal hell. There are some really annoying bits about trying to find easy objectives in some instances that make the game really frustrating. Like being stuck in a room for 5 minutes running in circles trying to find the right door to go in because I could not find a single bit of orange. when the Batmobile was chased by one of the big tanks it would switch the camera view to this camera that was really far and even the car's controls felt different. That would end up getting me killed several times easily. But after a while I actually like the Batmobile gameplay in general it was a very cool and different addition. Oh and the no loading screen thing is cleverly disguised with the old Mass Effect elevators trick. The first 'ending' was okay, if it was an actual ending it would be great, but even the post-knightfall ending was just... not good. So Batman gives himself a superpower of being part-scarecrow, really? The whole Tim/Barbara getting engaged thing was like a cherry on top of just a story I really didn't care for. I know a lot of these things are nitpicky but too bad, I spent $100 bucks on this thing. I'm giving this game a negative review for the fact my expectations were extremely high, and they weren't met, especially story-wise. I have never bought a season pass for a game before and I probably will never do that blindly again but hopefully that Batgirl DLC makes up for it. Expand

Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.
