    This was my first assassins creed game. I thought it was a great game. I’ve always had a interest in Ancient Rome, so I had to give this one a go. I played as Alexios, which I think was a mistake, but either way enjoyable. I really like the world and the mix of land and sea battles were great. I did Platinum this game, however I didn’t do all of the extra dlc content yet. I enjoyed theThis was my first assassins creed game. I thought it was a great game.     Though this game has some filler missions that may not add much to the overall story, the main and main side missions are amazing. Immerse yourself in Ancient Greece and feel what it’s like to be a misthios in these times. I thoroughly enjoyed looking and marveling at all the beauty that has been created to see Ancient Greece as it was.

    While origins was around the creation of the creed and everything this game isn't about anything that deals with the ac's...
    Idk why ubisoft did this one...

    The game breaks all "Assassin`s Creed" rules, logic, plot, etc. Please, if you like earlier Ubisoft`s production, don`t buy any of modern games of this publisher

    Well this sucks. let me explain, i am a huge fan of the AC series and have played all the games in the francise (minus the porteble ones). Now i know i am like 2 years late to this party, but hey beter late then never right. When AC Origens was relesed i was not sure i would like it but i did. Sure it has flaws but it change the franchise, it was a new AC experienc and one i was ready toWell this sucks. let me explain, i am a huge fan of the AC series and have played all the games in the francise (minus the porteble ones). Jump forward to Oct2, 2018 releas date of AC odyssey. i started playing the game AND, god was it bad. It tok me almost 2 years to finish the game. Its not becaus i am slow or becaus the game is hard its becaus it continuesly stops your progresion thru the story. I constantly faound myself not high enuf level to continu the story. Now i wouldent care about that if the amount of XP you get was fear to the amount you ned to level upp but its not. It takes so long to level upp, and the only way to do it in a desant speed is to do side quests. I dont mind this, if it wasent for the fact that the sidequests are so **** boring. All you do is go to this stranger and talkt, they need help with som boring task witch for the most part means go there kill that guy or girl ore talk to that guy ore girl. Now i know other RPGs hav thes cind of sidequests to but you dont have to do like a **** milionn of them to continue the main story of the game. See this game isent long. but it feels long becaus you have to do **** bissey work to continue the plot, witch is boring as **** to begin with. Not ones when i playd this game did i care wat happend in the story, not ones did i care about the carecters, not **** once did i ask myself wow i wonder what happens next. that is why it took me soo long to finish this game becaus i got bored. A good RPG is suposed to draw you in with ist carecters and story, THIS is not a good RPG. This sucks. To finish this rant of i want to say with (A boring story that gets interupted, sidequests that feels mandetory insted of somthing fun, boring charecters you dont care for, a broken level upp system that takes takes to long to level upp) This game sucks. Oh and let not forget the 50% EX bost you can buy for real world money, witch you need to get desent experinc ore be stuck in the **** grind that is this pice of **** **** game. But hey here is hopping AC Vallhalla changes things.… Expand

Почему сд проект рэд может выпустить Cyberpunk 2077 без Denuvo а убики нет.... И да они опять стали делать ососина раз в год. Я любил Assasin's creed, я прошёл все части даже хроники. Некоторые даже по 7раз(блэк флэг) мне даже понравился синдикат в какой-то мере, но на ориджине я уже не вытерпел ибо там плохо все, думал пропустят год и я соскучусь но неееет надо опять все запороть. Лучше бы вы показали watch dogs. Я корочь иду в рейд на Азазию, собираю тиму и лечу мочить этого хуесоса.… Expand

    A bit dissapointed not with the game itself, but that it seems that with every new entry into the series we are straying further away from the concept of the series. It has nothing to do with assassins whatsoever, exept some little missions regarding the present day story. The story is pretty intriguing, good combat and amazing visuals with maybe the biggest world in gaming yet. Size of map is enormous for AC game, but yet its still empty in some way. Everything is so repetitive. By the way i don't know why the game is called Assassins Creed when it's not about Assassins at all and their order didn't exist at this time.

    The development of the story is more than predictable. I´ll split whole campaign into two parts. First part is trying to bring your family back together. Well, kinda cliché, but ok. At least its not complete bull**it at all. And during your journey, or better to say odyssey, you make few decisions that will affect the end of the game. Second part of whole story is killing all cultists, one by one. What actually pissed me off is absence of cutscenes after killing each cultists. At least short dialogue would be nice. You just kill them and what... nothing. Leader is pretty obvious whole second half of the game, so no plottwist or something like this.

    There very few naval missions, so you dont have to spend so much time on your boat. Honestly you can avoid most of the naval combat.

    In the end i rate this game 7/10. I have plat trophy from this game, but this time i am not proud about it.... this game could be much better.
    However ancient Greek world is beautiful, so at least something good.    … Expand

    Can honestly say after playing all realised assassins creeds (including chronicals of India China and Russia) I have concluded that even the 2d assassins creed games have better mechanics for climbing and battle and I am 110% sure that this is the worst game put together in the huge ammount of time it took the team to produce this pile of sh*t. Anyone who worked on this neeeeeeeeds!! ToCan honestly say after playing all realised assassins creeds (including chronicals of India China and Russia) I have concluded that even the 2d assassins creed games have better mechanics for climbing and battle and I am 110% sure that this is the worst game put together in the huge ammount of time it took the team to produce this pile of sh*t.     Игра по началу крутая своим миром, но потом все скатывается в скучный фарм, да и сюжет тривиальный. Игру до конца пройти не смог.

    Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one of the greatest games I have ever played. The story is fantastic, the visuals are impressively realistic, Gameplay is great, I love the environment of Greece (Specially the sea) and the DLC's are awesome too. Hidden Blade DLC made greater than it was before.
    The only complaints I have is too many unnecessary side quests. That made me feel like a delivery    Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one of the greatest games I have ever played.     - Open world visuals (sunset, sunrise, world design , water... etc)
    Cons: - Multiple bugs that really affect gameplay : quests that apprear and expire before they can be completed, lootboxes that cannot be opened and force quest ot fail, - AI programming .     - Main characters movemen animations are clunky and unnatural.
    - You can climb everywhere , which converts classical maze-type map into "flat field" map, cause you just going straight forward to your current marker all the time.
    - Game enforces insane amount of monotonous grinding , pushing player to buy additional boosts .
    - Presence of constant feeling that you are working , instead of playing game.

    I really like this game. I bought this 2 days ago on sale and I'm level 16 right now . So far the game is great. They also give you free add ons for being a Ubisoft member which I love. I also like that they put the spring on the stick instead of having to hold x constantly. I like the movement of the horse.     For me, this game is almost perfect. Graphics are beyond amazing in the biggest map I have experienced so far, wich is filled with things to do. Gameplay is fun, it has some great bosses (wich is always a good selling point for me). i'd say the weakest part of it all is its story, wich even though is pretty good, is not as memorable as some other games. I also hate how long the loadingFor me, this game is almost perfect. Graphics are beyond amazing in the biggest map I have experienced so far, wich is filled with things to do. The worst is that it can't follow properly a road even though the Witcher 3 did it perfectly 5 years ago!     The game is poorly optimized, I have a pretty good computer (decent quality on the witcher 3, AC Unity, other games), it's not the best computer but it works fine and is able to manage a heavy game. With Odyssey I dropped the graphics to the lowest, the game looks like a PS2 game and it's still lagging !!! I mean the terrain is worst than Skyrim's at this point!
    Good transition, the textures are ugly. Not because they aren't of good quality when you turn the graphics on, but because they're shoddy. Look at the male main character, whatt's the problem with his eyes ?
    The AI is still stupid, people think that using math to force you using a certain number of hits to kill someone is creating difficulty and challenge, but it's actually just boring and none realistic in a game that wants to be as much realistic.
    Realism in the game is just killing all the fun, caves so dark you can't see a thing, characters too much like "everybody" , ... . The characters lack epicness ! I don't want to play aybody, I could just be myself in real life, the graphics and latency are unbeatable. I want to play an assassin

    Game issues:
    The story is boring. The reason is that if you can decide the end of every quest, decide too much things, there s actually no story... It's just a sandbox, and I like sandboxes but they aren't no game.
    The controls are so frustrating and poorly chosen !! seriously, Y to assassinate, RB to hit? X to dodge ??? I mean you want to dodge and assassinate quickly, choosing the buttons that are the furthest from your thumb IS a bad choice, it's purely basic ergonomic logic. RB is in my opinion a bad choice for spammable actions because it forces you to move your hand in a none intuitive position but that's less objective.
    Bow does no damage, assassination are not worth it bec
    There are the same problems with freerun there was in Unity (haven't played Origins nor Syndicate): whan you want to jump between roofs, cross a fence, an obstacle , ... The character stops, cross the obstacle slower than if it was walking, and then have to run again. I thought the point of free run was to cross obstacles quickly and escape from the ennemies ??? It's so not worth it ! Every ennemy will catch up .
    The story is just badly told, the introduction of the character is with flash backs inside the animus which is basicly a flash back. The main character is a stereotype of "fighter with a heat" like Rob Roy, Bruce Willis in most of his roles, ... . But it worls in latter movies because the hero is struggling. Given the broken abilities of Alexios/Kassandra, I just don't buy it.

    Issues related to the franchise:
    This is not an Assassin's Creed ! No assassinations, free run is useless and painfull, fights feel like a cheap the witcher 3.
    The point of Assassin's Creed was to hide a story behind well known historical events and figures. I don't know why every spartan in this game speak like Kratos or the spartans in the movie 300 but it's so wrong. Sparta had 2 kings, slaves and all free spartans were poets aside being warriors (and there are much more errors).
    Assassin's Creed games worked around different phases : assassinate, run away. It's okay to try reinventing the game, but wether your really change it or you don't change it at all. The skills feels useless, not really damage dealing. They are forced into the game without necessity: in the warrior tree, the first 3 skills are kind of similar but not really interesting, just flavouring the fights.

    To sum it up : just play the witcher 3, it's much better.
    2 things are really interesting though : Ikaros is so great : technically and in the gameplay, so useful, such a great eagle vision! The armor designs are reallyg good. Lacks some variety but yet really good.    … Expand

    I preordered this game back when it first came out on Xbox but I never finished it because I didn't enjoy it. One day one steam, I'd say around a year ago, the ultimate edition was on sale for 30 bucks and I figured hey why not pick this game up again. I bought it and I can firmly say it is my least favorite assassin's creed game and by far one of the laziest rpgs I've ever played. I bought it and I can firmly say it is my least favorite assassin's creed game and by far one of the laziest rpgs I've ever played. This is not an 'assassin's' game. People say this all the time because it is true. It is a knock off witcher that fails in all aspects compared to the witcher. All the enemies are sponges, you get barely any experience (in hopes that this will push you to buy the time savers created by crappy corporate Ubisoft), and they're all the same recycled enemies. The Open world is beautiful but empty. The naval combat is annoying and tedious and does not have the same charm Black flag did. The rpg elements are weak and lazy especially the loot system. It feels like God of War (2018) system which was probably the biggest detriment to that game. However the story is the worst apsect of this game. I've never played a AAA game with such crappy voice acting till now. Hell, even Mass effect Andromeda had better voice acting. Alexios and Kassandra sound horrible and the other characters are grating. The comedy is immature and are practically Dad jokes, and the story is one of the worst stories i've ever seen. It takes a basic premise and somehow fails to accomplish anything meaningful with it. Kassandra and Alexios are both stale characters as the protagonist but shine as Demos. You see Ubisoft was lazy with Kassandra and didn't want to vary her story from Alexios to truly show what happened to women in Greece instead it feels more like a skin. You pick the protagonist skin by which one you like more and nothing changes. The story had so many cut out points and the hidden blade dlc should've been in the main game in the first place. Romance is worse than even the crappiest Bioware games because they're practically one night stands with no attachement to any of the characters. In addition to this I felt not attachement to any of the characters in this game. Not only due to crappy writing but because of how spaced out the story missions were. By the time I wanted to do a story quest 5-15 hours had already passed since I did the last one. Side quests were glorified fetch quests or bounty quests which everyone already hates. I cannot see how people think this game is superior to origins, which not only had fun combat with enemies that were not sponges, a great story, other than some glaring plotholes, and the crappy modern day, and an amazing protagonist. Odyssey, however, fails in all aspects. It had a crappy protagonist, a horrible modern day, a horrible story, and many plot holes, and horrible combat. They want this game to be the next witcher, it never will be.… Expand

    I just want to say that before playing this game I truly disliked this series and Ubisoft. From the outside it looked like Ubisoft was putting out the same bad games every few years. But this game made me completely rethink all of that. I do admit though, the Helix credits are despicable, however I never found myself grinding for EXP once and never had to buy a single Helix Credit.I just want to say that before playing this game I truly disliked this series and Ubisoft. The choices you make can have a major impact on the ending which I find great as well. Combat is decent, but i found myself only using swords or daggers because the other weapons didn't feel right to me. Controls can be frustrating as well at times and your character won't jump or run where you want him to go. The game is quite buggy with frame drops as well. However, its really the story that makes this game and the adventure it takes you on. Ive never played a game nonstop so much in my entire life. Its fantastic.… Expand

I think that's important to know because a lot of the negative reviews seem to be coming from longtime fans who were let down by the direction Odyssey took. That's too bad because, as someone who didn't have the previous installments as a frame of reference, I found this to be one of the best games I've ever played. This game is big, beautiful, and thoroughly engrossing.

    Let's start with the superficial--the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. I'm a history buff, and I spent most of my playthrough in awe as I ran through the recreated streets of Athens or the imposing Minoan ruins in Crete. The textures are stunning. The colors of the Greek cities and countryside are vivid and beautiful. One of my favorite in-game activities was running through the scenery and finding new locations to synchronize (this is what unlocks different parts of the map for fast travel). Even though graphics aren't the most important thing in a game, this is a testament to the fact that they still do matter. The fact that something as mundane as unlocking fast travel locations became an experience of breathtaking beauty demonstrates how great graphics can improve a gaming experience.

    In terms of gameplay, the sharp controls are a critical factor in making this game what it is. The combat system is complex and requires a great deal of precision and timing from the player. Poor controls could have derailed this game. Instead, they make the combat fluid and fun. Setting up your opponent for devastating combos is mechanically very easy to do and the only limiting factor is the player's sense of timing and accuracy.

    That's not to say that they're completely perfect, however. There are a couple of annoying things that become noticeable from time-to-time. For example, you'll often find yourself fighting enemy mercenaries in the middle of crowded cities. When this happens, it's almost impossible to not take out one or more of the many innocent bystanders by mistake. This in turn raises your "bounty" (the game's system for deciding how much of a wanted man/woman you are), and before you know it, you can find yourself getting attacked by multiple mercenaries at once. It's a frustrating part of an otherwise flawless experience.

    As far as the story experience, Odyssey has it all. This game is as epic and sprawling as Gladiator, Braveheart, and Troy all rolled into one. The main quest is full of dramatic twists and turns. Things can go from farcical comedy to unexpectedly emotional in a matter of a few scenes. I actually, genuinely laughed out loud a few times, and honestly got choked up at one particularly powerful scene. The side quests are generally pretty entertaining, and, even though Odyssey has its fair share of fetch quests, most of the side quests are quite enjoyable.

    One thing I would have personally liked to see is more RPG elements. I understand that the addition of so many RPG elements was a point of contention among many longtime fans, but from my perspective, I think it could have used even more. The story is so emotionally heavy and the dialogue so rich and enjoyable, I would have appreciated more options to customize my character's personality with traits like charisma, lying, intimidation, etc.

    Overall, this game is one of my all-time favorites. It does just about everything extremely well, and the things that it doesn't do well are typically more minor annoyances than real negative drawbacks. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who has a few dozen hours to kill.    … Expand

    It has less repetitive rinse-repeat side quests (not counting the generic mercenary's board quest of course), it's more simple in terms of the combat (although the active skills is a bit bothersome to handle sometimes), better MC, and better story (main campaign).

    Minor gripes probably the same with many other open games as usual, less convenient fast travel point to the quest, and the ride/horse is just not as reliable as it can't cross a river (this is more like a nitpicking), and the amount you have to spend on your ship for a certain trophy, even though the ship is less important to the main campaign (you don't need to invest heavily).

    So for a neutral player point of view, I don't mind AC heading this direction, it's inevitable since they have to expand the universe, it's still a stealth and open game, with beautiful lore and historical place, try it, if you have the chance.    … Expand

Well, after at least half of the game, everything starts to feel repetitive, in every location, always same activities, but if you are a completionist like me, you will probably spend another few hours trying to finish every location activity. Aside the quest being repetitive, the world of Greece is amazing, so beautiful, many historical locations and different cities.
    Talking about rpg elements, the skill tree is well detailed and gives you many options, stealth assassination not the best but acceptable. Main character movement not the realistic one, falling from a cliff and you don't die, weird running animation and not many parkour animations.

    All in all I enjoyed playing this game and it took me more than 100 hours to finish it, but it was worth the time.    … Expand

    After 150 hours i finished the game. The world is superb, the beautiful and detailed. The history is amazing. This is the first game that accurately represents the history of Greece and its landmarks with so much details and precision. Some people criticise the game because of its innovations but that's exactly what makes this game incredibly special and fresh. Make yourself a favor, and play it!

    The story is kind of sad but it will depend on the choises you made.

    Amazing story! Great characters for the hero ( Kassandra) and the antagonist ( Alexios). I really enjoyed the game, I've played more than 150 hours. Assassins Creed: Odeyssey also has a great gameplay. This game is my first favorite game. Ubisoft released two great dlc for Odeyssey which makes the game even better.

    I loved this addition to the franchise. Building on the open world concepts introduced in previous games, I felt like Odyssey finally fully fleshed those out and combined in with a great story with plenty of lore!

There are very few instantly recognizable places. The side quests in that world are some of the most uninteresting and boring things to ever exist. The side characters are boring and uninteresting. The story is also boring, generic, and uninteresting. And it's more of a personal thing, but I don't like alot of strait up magic in my Assassin's Creed. Alse the end game is incredibly grindy. I think Ubisoft should make this a biennial franchice. Give each game more developement time and space them out a bit more, and try to go back to classic Assassin's Creed. Using the newer and better technology available they could make a classic style AC game set in the days of Genghis Khan in the Mongal empire, the Mexican Revolution, the Spanish Inquisition, futile Japan, any time in Russian history. Just make the game take place after Origins, but before world war2, and make a game styled after AC 2 and Brotherhood, just please stop with the sh*tty witcher clones.… Expand

Also i started enjoying the game way more as soon as i forgot it was supposed to be an assassin's creed game. Roleplaying as a Spartan mercenary in Ancient Greece is not something any game can offer lol.

Since then, the franchise has had a dodgy path of hit and misses. It seemed like they finally found their stride in Black Flag in 2013. The gameplay was tight and the addition of sailing your own ship was a lot of fun. Not only that,I remember getting the first Assassins Creed game back in 2007. It was the first of its kind. The gameplay was tight and the addition of sailing your own ship was a lot of fun. Not only that, you had decent storytelling, a brilliant soundtrack and some amazing environments. It felt like this was the right direction for the franchise.

    Take us now to 2018, with the release of Assassins Creed Oddyssey. From years of trial and error, Ubisoft decides to throw that out the window and make a whole new experience, using the same franchise. Here enters a poor mans take on Witcher 3. A game that takes place in a stupendously massive map, where every island, town and NPC is exactly the same. It was like the world was made by copy and pasting the same assets. The story was fairly simple; travel across Greece in a quest to find your parents, with a lot of distractions in between. My issue was that almost every character you come across, is void of personality or likeability. Even the protagonist that you're playing as, has an air of arrogance that becomes irritating. I found myself skipping the vast amounts of dialogue, when talking to any of these characters, as they never had anything interesting to say. Some of the coice acting in this game, is what I had the biggest issue with. There are a few characters that sounded like the meerkats from the adverts. But the worst of them all is thhe brother in this game. He sounds like a really cheesy baddy from an old Bond film. It was so cringe, I had to turn he volume down whenever he spoke. These draw backs are what stopped me from liking this game. And by the time I got to the end, I was treated to an ending that did not justify the amount of hours it took to get there.

    The gameplay is the one thing that kept me going with his game but even then, it was a mess. Each area is segregated by level; if you're a level 24 but walk into an area that is for level 30, then you're screwed. Even the wildlife will destroy you. I found this very frustrating, as the game funnelled me down one specific path, where I had to do serious grinding to progress to the next part. This game is a checklist of chores and it sucks the fun out of it. It's a problem that Ubisoft have in all of their games. That sense of grinding with repetitive tasks, in order to progress to the next level.

    I found this game deeply flawed and one of the weaker games of the franchise. I wish Ubisoft had taken the Black Flag formula and made a game that was the best of them all, but instead we're now playing a poor mans RPG, with equally mediocre writing and gameplay.    … Expand

However, in my opinion, Ubisoft took the correct approach and expanded the games potential. Was getting a little boring with it just being assassins and not much else. So being able to play as a Demi god who played a crucial part in the creation of the Hidden OnesDefinitely my favourite AC game to date. I understand that they heavily changed what AC is about (by introducing a Demi god). However, in my opinion, Ubisoft took the correct approach and expanded the games potential.     To this day i still don't know if i have finished the game after i saved/killed Kassandra/Alexios. Or if the game continued with me tracking down the last triangles from the last small islands. But it just kept going on and on. And i felt that i was happy enough with after i killed Kassandra in my playthough.

    A better combat system than the previous one. An interesting mythological story. It was a lot of fun to travel to ancient Greece. It was also good to have various endings.

There are a lot of bugs which don't really bother but the game really isn't an Assasdins Creed anymore. I mean you are just a mercenary which does what he/she thinks is right and wears armor. He/she doesn't even know what Assassins are...

RPG elements aside, Odyssey just wasn't as fun as its predecessor, and in terms of characters and story Odyssey at least helped me to enjoy Bayek and his personal journey in Origins some more. The game certainly looks pretty, but the sound and music don't offer much to enhance your experience with the game.

    A little bit of hard for me to recognize the map. But I love the storyline, the main characters have two option, man figure and woman figure. Personally love both. Maybe I am obsessed with the scenery.

    Completely lost the plot with this one. The assassin identity is utterly nonexistent. Fighting mechanic is the worst from all the genres and the acting and animation is embarrassing almost cringeworthy.

The story itself, I found very interesting as Kassandra journeyed around ancient Greece, taking on cultists and trying to piece her family together.

    While the gameplay occasionally felt quite repetitive, it was easy to grasp and understand. The world is open and you can go wherever you want, climb whatever you want and see whatever you want. It has an easy-access photomode for those that enjoy taking screenshots.    … Expand

    Yes there are better games, yes there are bugs and problems, yes it seems a bit unpolished from time to time. The war fights are repetative, there are far too many objectives and things that disstract you. BUT I enjoyed every single minute it is just a cool game. The story (even without Assassins) is really good for an AC Game. Greece looks just astonishing, the DLC is overwhelmingly good.Yes there are better games, yes there are bugs and problems, yes it seems a bit unpolished from time to time.     Fun for an RPG but not really an Assassin's creed game. Still a good game if you want a time consumer. Only new mechanic that I hated was the broken bounty system. You can rack up a bounty even doing mission objectives and it ruins the experience sometimes.

    Ótimo jogo , história legal , marcada por várias figuras históricas e recheado de reviravoltas a única coisa que me foi o excesso de missões secundárias , quase que obrigatórias devido ao nível necessário para fazer as principais, alem da péssima otimização para PC , o que já é padrão da ubisoft

Ambitioniert bezieht sich hier zum einen auf die Größe der Open World, die man einfach als irrwitzig bezeichnen muss, zum anderen auf die Masse an Content, der einem geboten wird.

    Alleine um die    Mit dem nunmehr bereits elften Teil ihres Langzeit Franchises legt Ubisoft mit Assassin's Creed Odyssey, trotz seiner recht kurzen Entwicklungszeit, ihr bisher ambitioniertestes Abenteuer vor. Ambitioniert bezieht sich hier zum einen auf die Größe der Open World, die man einfach als irrwitzig bezeichnen muss, zum anderen auf die Masse an Content, der einem geboten wird.

    Alleine um die Hauptmissionen abzuschließen, muss man mit einer Spielzeit von etwa 60 Stunden rechnen. Will man alle Nebenquest mitnehmen, kann es gerne auch einmal die doppelte Spielzeit werden. Wenngleich der gebotene Content zwar nicht die Qualität eines The Witcher III oder Horizon Zero Dawn erreicht, hat sich Ubisoft dennoch deutlich bemüht ein gutes, motivierendes Niveau zu bieten. Schwächelte der Vorgänger "Origin" noch an seinen meist sehr repetitiven Nebenaufgaben, kann ein Odyssey mit seinen nun wesentlich storylastigeren Missionen schon deutlich besser bei Laune halten.

    Die Kämpfe in Odyssey fühlen sich allerdings immer noch etwas rudimentär und holzig an. Den Flow eines Horizon oder God of War erreicht man hier nicht ansatzweise. Gut gelungen hingegen ist die Schleichmechanik. Auch hier erfindet Ubisoft sich nicht neu, dass Ganze spielt sich weiterhin recht gewohnt und zugegeben simpel - das Anschleichen durch Büsche, das Anlocken von Gegnern und ein heimliches Ausschalten von Hinten mit Assassins Creed typischen Instant Kill Animationen macht aber ungemein Laune, sorgt für Spannung und ermöglicht auch ein taktisches Vorgehen, dass immer wieder motiviert.

    Schön ist auch, dass die Storyentwicklung des Spiels deutlich freier und komplexer gestaltet wurde als man dies von Ubisoft Spielen bisher kennt. So können wir in Odyssey vor allem auch Einfluss auf die Hintergrundgeschichte, den Krieg zwischen Sparta und Athen, nehmen, beispielsweise indem wir uns stärker auf eine Seite der Auseinandersetzung schlagen, oder wichtige Figuren der Geschichte hinterrücks einfach abmeucheln. Auch das neue Dialogsystem trägt seinen Teil dazu bei, dass sich Odyssey hinsichtlich seiner Storyentwicklung organischer anfühlt.

    Dass die Hauptgeschichte eher etwas eindimensional daher kommt, stört aufgrund des tollen Settings, in welcher sie eingebettet wurde, so auch weniger. Eher störend ist allerdings die arg stereotype Ausgestaltung des Protagonisten, der leider oft als reine Karikatur rüberkommt, vor allem wenn man die englische Sprachausgabe zuschaltet. Kassandra als alternativer weiblicher Charakter macht es da etwas besser, da hier zumindest die Genderstereotype etwas gebrochen werden, das Machogehabe bleibt aber dasselbe. Hier muss letztlich jeder Spieler für sich selbst schauen, ob er mit den Charakteren etwas anfangen oder das Spiel wegen zu viel Fremdschämerei nicht wirklich genießen kann.

    Ein weiteres Problem von Odyssey ist, dass das Game ohne ausuferndes Grinding nur spielbar ist, wenn man via Mikrotransaktion Erfahrungspunkte einkauft. Der Casual Gamer, der hauptsächlich der Main Story folgen will, wird so gezwungen zusätzliches Geld in die Hand zu nehmen, was nicht nur unfair ist, sondern sich eben auch blöd anfühlt. Dem Hardcoregamer, der sowieso mehr Zeit in das Spiel steckt und ein Gro der Sidequests mitnehmen wird, fällt das Grinding vermutlich deutlich weniger auf. Tatsache ist aber, dass man bei Assassins Creed Odyssey extrem schnell unterlevelt ist. Sind Gegner nur ein, zwei Level über euch, hat man bereits kaum mehr eine Chance. Das wirkt nach Absicht und zeigt, dass es Ubisoft hier wieder nur ums Kohle machen geht. Zudem verhindert es eine positives Feedback hinsichtlich der eigenen Progression. Man hat zu keinem Zeitpunkt des Spiels das Gefühl stärker zu werden, da die Gegner automatisch mitleveln, und die Herausforderung so eigentlich immer die gleiche bleibt. Auch hier muss jeder selbst für sich ausprobieren, ob einem diese Spielmechanik über die lange Spielzeit wirklich motiviert.

    Belohnt wird man bei Odyssey letztlich durch eine der lebendigste und schönsten Spielewelten dieser Konsolengeneration. Auch technisch läuft Odyssey, gar auf der Standard PS4, ungemein flüssig und wunderschön anzuschauen und ist neben PS4 Exklusivtiteln wie God of War oder Horizon Zero Dawn überraschenderweise einer der am besten an die mittlerweile nicht mehr ganz taufrische Hardware angepassten Titel geworden.    … Expand

    This is the first Assassin’s Creed game that I’ve ever played and I was surprised at how much I ended up enjoying this game. Once I finally finished the main story line I had already put in over a hundred hours and there’s still plenty more to do that I can’t wait to jump back into it. As far as anything negative I can say about the game my only real complaint is the Animus, I thought IThis is the first Assassin’s Creed game that I’ve ever played and I was surprised at how much I ended up enjoying this game. Once I finally finished the main story line I had already put in over a hundred hours and there’s still plenty more to do that I can’t wait to jump back into it. As far as anything negative I can say about the game my only real complaint is the Animus, I thought I was playing in the BC era until it was revealed that I was actually watching a genetic memory from the inside of some kind of virtual reality machine in the present day, what in the hell? The introduction of the Animus literally comes out of nowhere too and kinda ruined the story for me for a while and apparently the Animus is in all AC games but at the end of the day this eventually became just a small gripe because everything else about Odyssey is amazing. I actually credit this game for getting me into Assassin’s Creed, I’m already eager to check out Black Flag and Origins if they’re anywhere near as good as this game is I’m sure I’ll enjoy playing them too.… Expand

    The overall score for this game is criminally low. This was right there for game of the year and I wouldn't be upset if it was especially with all the DLC.

    I always loved RPG games like Gothic, Oblivion etc. and this, this is the top, really the best RPG I have ever played... The world, the story, oh man the landscapes and the nature, everything is 10/10.

    There are some minor inconveniences in the movement sometimes, but that is nothing, when compared to the list of all the things this game brings. Really recommend this game to someone    I always loved RPG games like Gothic, Oblivion etc. and this, this is the top, really the best RPG I have ever played... The world, the story, oh man the landscapes and the nature, everything is 10/10.

    One of the best Assassin’s creed game i have played. quite different from the first games of the franchise but a great game. the main story is not as entertaining as the side quest. i specially enjoyed the discussions you have with Aristottle.

    Interesting story, great naval combat system, and awesome adventure. Ancient Greece looks beautiful, music is great, overall a very solid RPG experience. Just good, plain fun.

    Playing this game you’ll feel like a badass, however if your a fan of the old ac then this game might not be for you. Overall the story is great however it can feel like its never going to come to an end as it’s a long one, too long actually.

    I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.

    If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]
