In addition, COD: Black Ops provided the option to practice against AI bots in offline multiplayer, COD: MW3 does not allow this. Given the trouble that COD: MW3 is having with multiplayer matchmaking this is something that needs to be added. This is a major oversight that should have been caught by the developer as it allows players to still use the full content of the game even if the online matchmaking is not functional as it is at the moment. Lets be honest, this game and MW2 were nothing but expansions for Call of Duty 4. the fact that Infinity Ward and Activision think they can just repackage the same game year in and year out is SAD! the game looks bad being run of an older game engine, and plays even worse. All thos big name game sites were clearly bought off by the two companies. THIS IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!

Can't believe I got conned into a 60 dollar MAP PACK, graphics are out dated and it's the same game.. MW = Money Wasted! If you want a real 1st person shooter get Battlefield 3, or get Skyrim, those games are worth it. MW3 should have been $15

Another year another cod, looks just like mw2 with new campaign and new maps. it's a rent unless you have mw2, just play that.

They clearly just want you to empty your pockets out for them once a year, wait its twice a year. I believe activision was wanting to get cods pumping out every 6 months, thats what they said is their goal.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Biggest fan of CoD4 so I was waiting for this game with allot of hope you had learnt some things from MW2. Unfortunantly you haven't, it feels like DLC for MW2.
Everything (even the UI) is the same, I wish instead of trying to cram more stuff in you streamlined things like CoD4 - UAV, airstrike and chopper is all you need. Having other options promotes camping and after a couple days i'm already sick to death of it.

I feel like I was scammed out of $90AUD, had it been a $40 expansion I would not be complaining but I haven't the money to throw away like this. Regret that I did not wait for Skyrim now.

Sorry IW but you have lost a fan.

The single player is poor, multiplayer is more of the same, and SpecOps feels like it was tacked on.....There is just not enough here to justify a $60 game. If it was going for $40, ok....that would change this review a bit. this game is recycled garbage. All sounds like leveling up, gun sounds, explosions, are direct copy paste. Maps are poorly designed. Long corridors, few hiding spots, most cover can be shot through, small maps. corridors make using a shotgun a losing effort. almost no way of getting behind the enemy. And if you do the spawn system makes your efforts useless. Spawns are ridiculous. I mean there's 6 enemies on the map. Are you telling me the game engine can't find a good spot to drop me into? Useless perks like recon. pro perks are easy to unlock because they are useless. Most pro perks have nothing to do with the original perk.
assassin and blind eye are necessary to be "stealth" using two spots that should only use one. stealth is impossible due to skulls showing on the enemy screens giving away my killzone.
players can't Sprint farther than 10 feet. Extreme conditioning barely helps.
sniping has been reduced to a low spread shotgun. Quickscope is effortless. No maps promote actual sniping so no wonder they made Quickscope easy.
worthless unlocks. Your just kidding yourself if you think a gun leveling system adds any replayability.
all guns are overpowered. Making any favorites come down to iron sights and clip size.
singleplayer is short and uninventive. players can't jump on anything. But a little piece of trash on the map can stop you dead in your tracks.

the list goes on. Thanks the heavens I didn't buy into your hype and just rented it. This life lesson only cost me 7 dollars opposed to 60.

take your engine and game and scrap it. Your just beating a dead horse. This won't go on forever. I wonder if gamestop is a partner of yours because they know half of the buyers will trade this in allowing them to actually make a profit off of them.

Multiplayer? Haha, pitiful. Balance issues and total lack of teamwork like nothing else. Players that just run about, using a sniper as a shotgun and getting unbelievably unbalanced kill streaks. The games a joke, and so are the critic reviews. I'm not sure why paid professionals cannot deduct that this game is just the same as every other member of the Call Of Duty franchise. 0/10. I got this game on steam on launch day, hoping it would be better than Black Ops. Biggest mistake I have ever made in buying a game, even worse than buying BO. That game was a mess, and I have deeply regretted buying it, but not more than MW3. I have played MW, MW2, BO, and now MW3 and I can say each game gets worse exponentially. I will never purchase another COD game again.

This game really feels like MW1.5 as there is absolutely nothing new. Graphics are more than 4 years old. Same old boring, predictable story. Multiplayer is exactly the same with new maps. This game could have been a $15 DLC, and even that would be a rip off.

If you guys want a good, quality game, check out The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. There's a game that the developers actually put time into making, about 3 years. Not like each COD game taking less than a year to make, no wonder their quality is so terrible. It's sad that such a piece of junk like MW1.5 can sell millions and even more than games that outclass it like Skyrim. There are just too many mindless, stupid fanboys who enjoy shooting each other with new maps paying a $60 fee every year to do so.

Overall, this game couldn't even last me 2 days as once Skyrim came out I dumped this piece of crap. Hopefully, the COD series dies with this game or they totally reinvent it because it's only going to get worse from here.

I remember playing this game in 2007, but I think it was called COD4. This games formula is staid to say the least, but I have to wonder what it might have really been like if Infinity Ward hadn't imploded. Oh, and it is a 0 because I don't think a map pack should cost $60.

The reason I decided to write this review was not due to the fact I find the COD experience so repulsive, it's down to the petty developers. Take, for example, the schoolyard insults Infinity Ward was throwing at other game developers over the past few months; and also this recent Twitter post from a Sledgehammer 'P.R.' chap about this very website:
""I don't usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score"
Their egos have obviously took a massive hit, but it was this following post which really infuriated me:
"It's suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree."
Really? They just can't accept that people don't enjoy the BS they spew over the market every November, anymore. No! It has to be a conspiracy! ... These pretentious, **** untalented d*cks should be banned from copy/pasting COD 4 for profit.

Do not buy this game, you will regret it as you will be wasting hard-earned cash only to give it to the scourge of video game franchises.

    Cheers..

I have rented MW3 for a day, for about $2.13, and believe me when I say I feel like a fool for paying $2 dollars to play a game that I already own. For those that wasted the full $60 + tax, you have my sympathies. The only graphical differences in the MW3 is the lighting, they tweaked with the lighting in MW2 also. Who are they trying to fool? 2 years between each game and the only visual improvement is something that can be applied to the previous game via patch?! The campaign is lackluster, explosions and "spontaneous" events are suppose to keep you on the edge of your seat but all it does is make me think about the better ways that I could've spent those two dollars I threw away renting this game. The multiplayer is mediocre, it has the fun aspects of COD 4(obviously), the frustration of MW2, and lacks the amount of customization that was present in Black Ops; overall, not a good mix. The gameplay keeps you wanting to play and give the game a chance, but the fact that there's overpowered killstreaks and anybody that manages to get three kills in a row is basically handed the win keeps you irritated, shaking your head, and ultimately bored. Unlike COD 4, where there are no ultra-overpowered killstreaks and the perks are balanced out, MW3 is, exactly what it set out to be, a super easy game that takes less skill. COD 4 is easy to pick up and play, but MW3 is RIDICULOUSLY easy to pick up and play; by my 3rd match I was already getting the top score, It took me about 10 or so on COD 4, and about 5 on Black Ops. How can somebody that doesn't know the maps get the top score on their third try? Killstreaks and an abundance of perks. There's little to no skill involved, the outcome of how good you will do is determined in the beginning of the match by how well your internet connection is at that juncture. Which leads me to another complaint, Activision, billions upon billions of profits later still no dedicated servers?! When games with a lower budget like Homefront can provide its users with dedicated servers? we all know that you are evil and that you are trying to take over the world by riding this COD bus until it breaks down and you end up with trillions upon trillions of dollars, just enough for the CEO of Activision to relieve himself of his daddy issues, but atleast try to delude us into thinking you are making somewhat of a quality product by investing atleast a couple of thousands or less on dedicated servers. It is insulting to gamer's intelligence to even release this game without the aforementioned. I only see little Jimmy playing this when his parents are asleep, or Brad and Chad after coming off of a very touchy lockeroom scenario and are ready to indulge in the usual dudebro fest. Expand

Firstly, getting into an online match is hit and miss at best. You will see "server connection timed out" more than the iron sights of your weapon and constant disconnects just get too much. The maps themselves when you do get in are small, maze like boxes which make the game feel more like a modern day pac man as you chase people around. Hit registration is terrible, it feels flat and bland with the same old killstreaks, which you can now stack by the way and then unleash pretty much all at once for a nice score....great. I really wanted to like this, but when Infinity Ward sacked their best staff this game took a massive dive for the worst. Never again will i waste my money on this tripe and will trade it in tonight for Skyrim. My love of cod ended with 4, its just a shame mugs like me still for for this ****

Horrible game, so boring, so uncreative. Really makes you think why did you spend 60$ on such horrible product. This game is a disappointing failure. Dated graphics, scripting campaign, and reused art assets make me feel like I'm playing DLC and not a new game.

This is what Modern Warfare 2 SHOULD have been, coming from CoD4. It's an expansion, nothing more. Warning to all the potential consumers: Do not purchase this, you will be sorely disappointed. In fact, I'm going to return this game to get CoD4 and play on the servers for that.

I have yet to play the campaign but i feel like the new features were not enough in multiplayer mode. I would even go as far to say its almost a step backwards in some aspects to Black Ops in multiplayer(yes i'm aware infintyward did not touch BlackOps). It wouldnt have been so bad if they let you log on with more than one guest, but alas they didnt. Black ops gives you the ability in split screen to do up to 9 AI enemies in a ffa mode or build AI teams in deathmatch. So far i feel like MW3 should of just been DLC content to MW2. I might be a little over critical, but i feel like the series hasn't really evolved that much between the last few titles. Expand

A game we've already seen. This is just a rehashed MW2. Enjoy buying your MW2 maps again and again. It's really saddening to see companies like this releasing the same game over and over again, with almost nothing new. Same graphics, same sounds, same gameplay. Maybe it's time to try doing something new?

This game is Modern Warfare 2. This is the exact same game as MW2 which was released over 2 years ago. Except now you have even worse perks and maps. They didn't even bother to change the menus. This game is literally a cut/paste job so sheeple can feed Bobby Kotick's dick. If you truly want to give your money to Activision, buy this rehash. Meanwhile I rather play Battlefield 3.

Tried this game in a store on a console and was COMPLETELY convinced I was playing MW2 the entire time. this game is an insult to the gaming community, it's a digital Bigmac; it smells and looks pretty tasty but after you've had a taste you just want to puke.

disappointing and almost insulting how little has changed across 3 games and 4 years of development.

Dear God, make it stop. It's like playing a game of Even or Odd with the hairs on my scrotum. It's like playing Five Finger Fillet with a bandsaw. It's like shooting myself over and over again in the face with a pellet gun. It just doesn't stop hurting. Please, for the love of God, stay away.

If you're into same **** just done with less quality, COD MW3 is for you. As far as I'm concerned, it's not worthy of it's price tag as it's a lesser game than it's two year old predecessor. P.S. This game is horrible, you cant even create ranked custom games so that you can farm xp with your friends then be 12 years old and camp in corners and just win all day. How dumb. Also guys have guns and shoot at you, I need a game where the other players can't shoot back because I'm pretty bad.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
