This game hasn't changed since MW2, all the newbs playing MW3 never even played the classic CODS like MW, WOW, and MW2 (BO doesn't count but its not bad :) ). The only people defending MW3 are those how haven't played the classics and to be a vet you have to play the classics. As A vet of COD, I feel that COD has died and its time to move on to a game less money hungry like BF3.

Terrible story for the campaign which is barely 4 hours long. online multiplayer with forgetful maps and the complete rip offs which are the overpriced 15 dollar map packs. The only reason I give this game a 1 and not a 0 is because I give the idiots who produced this game credit for having the balls to actually but this game on shelves and make a profit off of it. Honestly Infnity Ward, Sledgehammer, Activision who ever is in charge of making these games step up and produce something worth buying or just stop the franchise altogether. Until then I am keeping my wallet as far away from call of duty as possible. Expand

After buying this game on midnight launch and playing for a few hours i soon got absolutely bored of this game and with the maps being so small is a joke. Im nevr buying a MW game again. I would have given this game, maybe a 5 out of 10. But year after year video game websites such as IGN give this game the title, "Game of the Year" and so on. Which leads me to believe either A. they are idiots, or B. they are being paid.

I am a Battlefield fan, and I used to be a Call of Duty fan. With all "fanboy" aside. DICE brings new stuff to the table, while IW rehashed used material.

The straw that broke the camels back on my ZERO rating. Was the idiot Schofield begging for metacritic reviews on Twitter. Schofield, eat my nasty nuts, your game deserves a score of 2/10.

The graphics are pathetically outdated, having changed little since the first modern warfare. The physics feel cheap and flimsy, as the guns do not actually recoil realistically and animations look unnaturally robotic. Being able to go full auto at someone with a machine gun while having the reticule barely budge makes the gunplay feel unrealistic and cheap. Sound effects are equally messy; gunfire sounds more like a fruitblender than anything else. Firing the weapons has no weight behind them due to the muffled, unrealistic sound effects and the robotic physics, giving little to no satisfaction in landing hits. At 60 bucks, IW is robbing us of our money. This is almost the same game, with the same engine, the same graphics, and same gameplay as the previous two. I feel like there is an immense lack of effort and dedication put in by the design team; in its third iteration, i expect a game to at the very least have technological improvements over its predecessors. But even there I am disappointed. I find it hilarious that the Glen Schofield has the balls to ask for higher user ratings on Metacritic after pumping out this product on so much hype. So here I am, voicing my opinion to spite him when I otherwise would have stayed silent.

Do yourself a favor and go play skyrim or something.

An overpriced content pack masquerading as a full fledged release. The dev teams involved although did do their best to deliver a functional game with new content despite the massive IW split, outside of this commendable merit this game warrants none.

I found the gameplay fun if repetitive, with some nice set pieces (forgetting about the insultingly cheap 'shock' scene that happens mid-game). From what I have heard the multiplayer has barely changed and frankly the single player game is decent enough but for the amount of time you'll spend playing it, it's just not worth it. I'm glad I can afford to blow that amount of cash on a single player game that expires after a matter of a few hours and a MP game that is the same as one I already own. Fun few hours mind, but should definitely have been DLC. Looking forward to Skyrim - same price and probably 50 times as long.

Who wants a new game-play experience when you can hide behind your franchise name and dupe millions into buying a two-year-old sans a few tweaks? Let the sales do the talking; let the sales do the guiding. Those green-colored glasses will surely help you develop the next sixty dollar map pack.

All sarcasm aside, it sickens me as a gaming connoisseur that a company can beat a dead horse and flee the scene with millions of dollars. Those millions of dollars would be better off in the hands of developers who actually know what they are doing. Shame on Activision, and shame on all of the people who think that this game is worth anything more than the series' previous iterations.

Meanwhile they still want $50 for a years worth of elite service that takes alot of things that most companies offer for FREE like DICE or Bungie do, and the whole multiplayer is a pure cut/paste of MW2, and they're trying to pawn the newer features like strike packages (Classes anyone?) and weapon progression based on your usage of the weapon (Like battlefield!).

If they want this series to stay strong they need to take the first step and do something original like when they first released MW1 because right now its getting sad.

Case and point this was an overpriced expansion pack, and if their map pack prices were any indication they definitely arent strangers to ripping people off.

Did the other games feel like an expansion with more levels, weapons, and moves? Yes. Does this game feel like it actually took more away then it added? Yes. Also, I did pay or COD Elite with high hopes; however, I am disappointed in that also. Honestly, if you knew the game would sell that many copies, with that much hype, and that many pre-orders.... Expect a lot of traffic. Having voice chat constantly cutting out, lobbies drop, spec ops not work past the 1st level online, and Elite itself be down on launch just sours the experience. And please don't say it is a users connection speed, because nothing is worse then having almost 100mb download and 10mb upload, and still have a game choke. The Map designs are generic, its all been seen before. The Sound effects are good, but can get very, very annoying. Guns don't sound realistic, I would know I'm in the army. Its like a Michael Bay movie, explosives everywhere and alot of action, but my god is the story different no.

Multiplayer is the worst part about the game. It feels like a Map pack to MW2, the maps have the same basic design, You will constantly respawn in front of enemies, You can still shoot through thick steel or brick walls but can't shoot through paper thin materials or thin wood. The Perks are pretty much all the same. Killstreak system is different a bit, but my god, you don't feel rewarded in any way cause the killstreaks are handed out like your at some charity event. The Guns are very unbalanced, with some guns having very little fire power then others. The Attachments are very much the same. Its full of cheaters.

There was no effort put into this game, recyled material, untalented developer team who just physically can't think of anything new to do to the series.

All I can say is, if anyone actually still buys MW3 after reading all the negetive reviews, then they are a very boring bunch of people who want to play the same thing over and over again. There are way better games out there to play then this cheap peice of crap. I couldn't find many positives about this game, the voice acting was good and the multiplayer had some fun moments at the start, but I really couldn't believe how fast this game got boring. Feels like the multiplayer is more about getting killstreaks for yourself, the game does not encourage team work at all. Haven't played the BF3 singleplayer yet, but the Multiplayer is 100 times better then MW3 and way better then any other multiplayer i've ever player, get BF3 or just start player MW1 or 2 again, atleast you can get more fun out of those games. Yes MW was great. It was a game changer for the franchise, with many industry changing features, it set the bar quite high. But that was 2007. And today we basically stall have the exact same game. A little bit of tweaking around the engine, little more complex models and a rock steady 60FPS. The game hasn't changed much. If you've played a MW game in the past you've played MW3... Im a huge COD fan, since day one the original came out, theres not many people that have been with the franchise that long but this is a disappointment. And honestly, who cares about single player, games like this are made to be played in competition, how can anyone enjoy the story when its so ridiculous and set piece after set piece. C'mon infinity ward. I could tell you slacked off the moment i ranked up to level 2 and heard that same annoying heavy metal jingle I've been hearing since 2007--- and every other sound, menu, animation, perks, kill streaks, etc....

-Maps are designed for PC and not console controllers.

-Engine is fast but f*cking ugly. (why are u still trying with that hideously implemented depth of field IW?)

Kills with kill streaks counts towards your next kill streak. So basically you don't have to die to regain them. Other words this game isn't challenging anymore and doesn't offer anything fresh. Its running off of out dated technology where as BF3 is runing off a brand new engine with amazing capabilities. I rented both titles to see which I would like and BF3 is the best first person military shooter I have ever played. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.... I hope everyone enjoys $60.00 map packs. CoD has become so generic it's not even fun or worth it to buy the newest version. It sits in the same boat as Madden, the developers feel the need to re-make the game every year in an attempt to maximize profits. Call of Duty died for me after Call of Duty 4.

Sad thing is, a good PC gamer could easily just mod MW2 to make it exactly like MW3. It's not hard since they're already identical. It wouldn't be so bad if it was selling for half the price, but $60 is just a complete rip-off. However way you look at, it could've been sold for 15 and they would STILL make profit. Much of my deaths on this game are from campers or unbelievable lag within the game, where I clearly shoot the enemy first but on their killcam they clearly shoot me first. I have played well at times but I can't feel a sense of achievement because the only reason I did well was because the opposing team were experiencing lag too. Where is the fun in that? The same broken Multiplayer, the same try-hard 4 hour long story, and soon the same overpriced map packs. It is truly a disgrace, the way Activision keeps confirming their greediness, and lack of interest for their customers. This hasn`t bitten them yet, seeing as a lot of COD-players are very, very young. Too young to stand up and say "I will no longer let myself be milked dry like a cow. I will no longer let this company ruin gaming by repackaging the same game over and over again, therefore being a bad example for the rest". And even when the fans are a bit older, they still have ridiculously low standards, considering they like replaying the same broken game, over and over, paying 60 Dollars every year.

Because of this greediness and laziness, COD MW3 deserves a 0, but I`ll give Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games 1 point for the effort.

I bought this game for the only reason that all of my friends are playing this everyday and I thought it could be a way to have a good time with them but I was wrong. The single player campaign is simply terrible and I died in one day in multiplayer more often than one month with Dark Souls. I really cant figure it out where is the fun. You start running to somewhere on the map to be killed by who knows who and listening to 13 years old boys offending one each other. Im totally out of that violence in the games discussion, but parents should pay more attention for the unbelievable talking that you are forced to hear in this game, it is a new kind of violence extremely disturbing: racist jokes were the lightest thing that I heard in two or three days. Even with a team mode, they never play like a team. Resistance 3 multiplayer, just to mention one, is a game far superior than that. I lowered my expectations for MW3 because of how Black Ops turned out. Both being fun games, but hugely flawed due to Activision being so money hungry and not letting the developers really stretch their legs. From the time of release all I've played is multiplayer, and although it is addictive as its predecessors, it is addictive for the wrong reasons. Some of the reviews for this game say "more unlockables are needed, give me more" but that is the problem. There are way too many options with kill streaks/point streaks/perks that it takes the real fun out of what most people love about FPS. Take Battlefield 3 for example (ya, i know, direct competition), many improvements were made, some little ones coming straight from COD, but they left the core of the game play intact without "whoring out" the franchise and most importantly UPDATED AND IMPROVED GRAPHICS. As one reviewer mentioned the firings at IW being the root of this issue, I say it has little to do with that, and more to do with the addition of Sledgehammer. This game has less server issues than the last few releases, but there is far too much inconsistency with "hitmarkers" (shooting opponents with full clips and no results) and the general feel of shooting ANY gun in this game feels over tweaked, away from how the other MW's felt and the result is obvious; Sledgehammer tried to do too much.

Although my points here were spotty here, that is a direct result of what they have done to the gamers, and with this franchise. And even though I'll be labeled a hypocrite, i'll still be giving this game chance after chance due to many friends having the game and give the developers more chances to make updates to improve the gameplay.

All the maps are so vertical and have the same dirty look. There are so many corners that now getting caught in a good firefight is a thing of the past. None of these maps are memorable and can't even come close to classics such as Cliffside, Eder Dam, Terminal, Crash and Backlot.

They've used the same in game icons, no new death animations, same killcam and just basically the same audio only boosted with advanced clarity and maybe more treble and bass because the guns do sound a tad more realistic.

The campaign itself was just a Michael Bay movie. So many explosions and action but most of it for no good reason except for it to break silence. So, MW3 has it's good points and that is familiarity, it basically is a CoD game. But, it's a CoD game I already own. This game could has easily been a DLC map pack for MW2 and because of that fact and the fact I paid full game price, I have to give it a low score.

Please Activision, wake up and stop recycling your ideas. We're bored of it and we don't appreciate paying that much for poor quality, especially with money problems in this day and age.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is what you get when a game studio (or studios in this case) goes for the sure payday instead of concentrating on a quality game. If you've never played Call of Duty before, then you might be suitably impressed with the game. For anyone who has played an FPS in the last 6 years, this game bring absolutely nothing to the table. If you've never played Call of Duty before, then you might be suitably impressed with the game. For anyone who has played an FPS in the last 6 years, this game bring absolutely nothing to the table. First, let's address the steaming turd that is the campaign mode -- If this game was released by another company under a different name, these "professional" reviews would be singing a radically different tune. Each task in the campaign revolves around moving your character to a point on the map that triggers the endlessly respawning monster closet to shut off. There is zero strategy involved and freelancing is actively discouraged via small game areas and having to press a button at certain map point in order to continue. I don't mind my campaigns being a bit on the rails, as wandering aimlessly wondering what I'm supposed to be doing isn't any fun, but this game is so tightly held on the rails as to be no fun at all, unless you are a fan fan of running headlong into enemy fire with no thought at all, in which case, you'll probably love this game. Multiplayer, the supposed stregnth of this game, adds little to the tried and true formula that has worked so well in the past. While one might expect that from a mappack or DLC, charging full-price for a glorified map-pack doesn't sit right with me. Couple that with charging players for doing what all other games do for free (Call of Duty Elite), and you have what amounts to a giant cash grab.

Since the last edition of Modern Warfare had rampant lag/cheating issues that went unchecked, I hold out little hope that this year's version will fare much better. If Infinity Ward et. al. actually offer some support to the multiplayer community who don't pay $60 a year over and above the cost of the game, I might be inclined to bring the score up to a 4 (4 out of 5 for mulitplayer and 0 out of 5 for singleplayer).

Bottom line, experienced games should avoid this game like the plague. By purchasing this game, you are tacitily endorsing crappy game design and encouraging companies to keep putting out bad products.

Mw3 is basically a map pack, all in all it uses an outdated engine, with very minor tweaks to make it seam that there is a difference between it and that of MW2, but as matter of fact, there really isn't much of a difference, the multiplayer is the same as any other COD title, shares the same formula of: 1- Kill, 2- get kill streak, 3- use killstreak to kill more people, 4- repeat.

I hope one day consumers lose the blindfold they carry with them and realize they are being ripped off by a greedy company, they need to realize that buying a $60 DLC every year not only encourages other companies to act the same way and release the same game every year, but it also goes to show that companies need not to improve and/or bring something new to the table with each iteration in order to be successful. What happened to the good old days of gaming? I hope Activision one day goes bankrupt, I wish nothing but the worst to this greedy company. Expand

And now how can Activision get more money faster than shipping sub par games, let's introduce cod elite and take another half a billion dollars from gamers for something that has no use.

Really this game is Moder Warfere "3"; I cant believe its another game. It feels too much like MW2 DLC. The gameplay is equal, the history is very "cliche" and predictable, and the multiplayer is the same of the last 4 games... really? I think this "Call of Duty" will die like "Guitar Hero". Modern Warfare 3, more like Modern Warfare 2.1. Adding some new maps and guns is not a new title. It's a very expensive expansion pack. Activision better stop trying to ride the Call of Duty wave and get IW to produce an actual successor to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

What a waste of money. You expect some sort of evolution in a series, Some of the same glitches in this game were in MW2, they just copy and pasted the game engine and spent a day tops making new maps. Save your $60 and buy MW2 in the bargain bin. Most dissapointing game in history should be the new ad slogan.

Also your world hopping so much you can never keep a handle on the story, it's not very coherent. I loved the action and I love the scripted stunts. That is where the coolness ended. I played through on normal and it felt like very easy. Enemies had next to no ai. I found myself running though a room of enemies fireing at me and turning round and just pining owning them without a second thought. There is absolutely no challenge in the campaign what's so ever. Remember Chernobyl and the funfair bit, how hardcore that could seem. None of this here, you are nannied though the game so as just to keep the pace and hopefully the gullible are blown away by bells and whistles. Infinity ward must think we are thick. Thinking they can exchange challenge with Hollywood glamour and stunts. Sorry not buying it. The blind could complete this auto aiming joke of a fps. Even Duke nukem forever requires you to aim and that's in the bargain bin. The multiplayer is made up of poorly designed maps that are reminiscent of a garden maze. It basically said MW3 is what we all asked for (the same) yet now we are complaining about it. I have to disagree that its in protest because its the same game and we wanted something completely different. The reason I do not like MW3 as much as any other COD title is because it didn't progress in development. They made the same mistakes during release, they didn't use what they have learned from the other games at all, and most of all even though MW2 was overall better than black ops (in how polished it was and the story) black ops still had evolved over previous versions, I didn't feel like I went backwards. MW3 uses the same game engine from 2 years ago the same exploits that were FIXED in black ops are back again. Also the maps are no where near as fun as previous games, there is no tiny map (rush, nuketown) and no really big map which are generally the stand out maps in the games that everyone always votes to play. When asked to vote for a map in this game, I don't as they are all the same and there is very little variety between the current maps offered in the game. Expand

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
