The game you want to play, that's it. You may regret the possibilities of a Oblivion, but the simplifications come with improvements in all regards, and are therefore easily forgived. I liked the custom spells though.

Animations are off, the AI can act irrational and strange... one of the most common bugs is that the top-billed voice actor (Max von Sydow) can't be heard at all, and thus has to be hacked for quests to progress! Minor bugs are acceptable and almost expected, especially with games this huge (you can play this game for 100 hours and still have things to discover on the map!), but something as basic as making sure the key elements work?
I love Bethesda in general, and I will keep playing Skyrim for many more hours, but it's so bug-addled sometimes that the shining light fades slightly and annoyance takes over.

I first played the game on my computer that definitely did not have enough visual memory, etc. so the gameplay was choppy and sometimes glitchy, but it still didn't bother. Playing on my new, improved laptop yielded much smoother and virtually faultless gameplay.

Cons: not a lot of variety of monsters/foes; NPC's are somewhat boring and many are just clones with repeated diaogue; most of the quests were very simple and didn't seem to take advantage of the vastness and detail of the Skyrim world; although I liked being able to do the main plot quests and side quests at the same time to prolong my gameplay, I never felt an overwhelming urgency or excitement regarding the main plot. Although the plot does extend its effects all across the world and into some secondary quests, I wish it could have been even more expansive so that more of the quests you do feel as though they are happening at the same time and under the same circumstances as the main plot.

    8/10 Definitely worth playing.

Bethesda, you've done it again! The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in my top 5 games, and I would just like to say I play a lot of games. My fav thing about Skyrim is that you could go on a road trip from the castle of vampires to the dawngaurd lair (The two furthest points on the map) and have the best gaming moment of the year. You can't get from point A to point B without battling a dragon, exploring a dungeon, robbing some farmers and "nosying" around structures. The game is by far the best RPG to date, and also a close competitor to best GAME ever. To start of, character customization. Starting the game your confronted with a menu allowing you to choose a species and then customise it to insane depths. Each species has unique special ability's and skills. After slashing, bombarding or shooting your way through the first dungeon, you reach the beautiful outside world. The first thing it says to do is to go to Riverwood, and have a great time getting there to! On my first run to Riverwood, I found myself conquering bandits, chatting to a friendly hunter, gathering flowers and chasing deer. And that's just about a ten min journey! No game has done "Road Trips" as spectacular as Skyrim has. I could go on but I'll just name some key points. Each hold and character has a different story to tell or forget, and new things to explore. Whether its halting invasions and defeating the drauger or assassinating thanes and stealing from houses, you'll never run out of stuff to do. Guaranteed! Expand

Those who know the series know that the main quest has always been a weak point in TES, all the interest is in the exploration and side-quests, which are very numerous and interesting.

I would rate it 9, but I will 10 it because of all the trolls and laughable hipsters rating 0, 1 or 2.
Don't go see console players reviews of this game, people buying a TES on console are just... stupid. This is a RPG and despise the fact that the game was developed on consoles, it's definitely meant to be played of PC. What's more, the modding community for this game is huge and talented, if something doesn't please you or lacks in the base game, you can be sure you will find it on modding community's sites.
TES V Skyrim is a very good game and an excellent RPG that I highly recommend to everybody wanting to go on a fantastic journey.
Don't mind the haters and all the "games were better before" guys, no matter what we do, unfortunately unable to deal with modern video games and spitting on their own enjoyment. Plus, I bet you they are still waiting for TES VI, even if they don't wanna admit it even to themselves.

If I was forced to only play one game for the rest of my life then Skyrim would be it.

    Alright, here's what's great
    - The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and very accurately reflects the real-world Scandinavian environments from which it was taken..
    - The storylines are well-written and engaging,
    - The armor and weapons are sufficiently Norse and generally avoid the silly 'fantasy' look (way oversized weapons and backwards-curving spikes etc) that make so many other fantasy games look absurd.
    - A combat system that allows you to go weapon-shield, 2-hander, double weapon, spell-weapon, or double spell.
    - Character design that avoids warrior, wizard, thief class-system altogether and lets you customize exactly how you want.
    - Playable werewolves! There are vampires also if you are a Twilight fan although to be honest, vamps feel completely out of place in a Norse setting and should all be destroyed.
    - DLC's and player mods that keep things interesting for YEARS of gameplay.

    Here's what sucks
    - Typical Bethesda bugginess. Most of this has been fixed by now and there are always work-arounds for the PC but sometimes you will still run into something that is aggravating.
    - Combat is WAY too easy at high levels even on hard setting. Do yourself a favor and get a player mod that makes high-level enemies tough again.

That's it really. This is the best fantasy adventure game ever made.
    The end.
    - DLC's and player mods insure that the game goes on and is repayable many times.

The limitation about the game is the problem, is that the game needs more features or the gamers will say it's boring. The game needs real life situations in everyday. With this in mind, I just cannot go for less than a full score, yes, it's definitely not as good as Morrowind, but just let yourself be immersed in this world and live, explore, just do what you want and enjoy, you won't regret it. Then there's a whole lot of problems with gameplay, dragons are more plentiful than bandits sometimes, its just ridiculous.

But then comes modding which is the reason why I give it a 6 instead of a 4. Modding community made some very good mods that introduced very detailed characters, good graphics, and so on. However not one single mod I managed to get my hands on managed to stop the boring level grind and bring a more rewarding system where the player skill is the most important asset (as opposed to the ingame character skills).

In the end this game can be fun but it feels really lacking, like if they made the basic map and characters of the game and dismissed everything else. Its a trend that its common now, people love the "open world" games so they advertise it and make it look like the options are endless, but this game isn't truly an open world game is it, its just a big map with a main story and random pointless quests/locations.

Game industry is stalled, goal isn't anymore to make good creative games, it's just all about making something fancy and give false expectations to players so they buy the game, then promise more functionality in paid DLC's or the next game in the series, so people go and buy the next game in the series which added very little to the previous one, sometimes its even less detailed... this is just sad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the first Elder Scrolls game I have ever played. Originally I had played it on Xbox, but when my ex and I split, (Xbox was his) I got the game for PC. At first it was kind of a pain to learn the controls, but I went out and got myself a game controller for the PC, and it was all gravy after that. My PC is not one of those super powerful PCs, I have a quad core processor and an AMD graphics card, yet I can play on high settings, with a serious collection of mods, and DLC's added. It crashed one time due to a mod not being compatible with another mod I already had, but other then that it works amazingly well. There are a ton of quests, and stories within the plot. Would have been nice if they put more voice actors, and less repetitive quotes from NPC's. I often want to beat up the guards with their "arrow in the knee" thing over and over and over. Yep. Also, it would have been neat to see a little more complex interactions between mates or followers with the main character. My husband- he is really boring, like a piece of furniture that hands me coins or food every so often. I mean, they should at least fight over money, hold hands, make babies, you know? Though he wanted to marry after I beat him up in a brawl, that was pretty amusing. The Hearthfire add on allows adoption, however. Overall, I really like the game, and I am looking forward to seeing what the next game will be like. Expand

The only complaint that I have, which kept them from getting a full 10/10 was the lack of diversity of voice actors. You will hear the same guy voicing dozens of characters, and with no effort to change his voice. They should have hired a few more people, other than that, it's fantastic, well worth the money - you are going to have a lot of fun with this game.

A great, open-world, practically endless RPG with many familiar fantasy elements and Elder Scrolls Lore. Although there are many good points about this game and I would definitely recommend it, there are quite a few flaws that take away from the overall experience and the game just feels like it could have been so much more.

Story: rate 6/10. A pretty generic, "player is the only one who can save us", "epic" story. The player can excel in everything he/she tries, even if they have no experience in that area (for example: getting into the College of Winterhold simply by casting a low-level spell and having never used magic before). I won't go into details, so not to reveal spoliers for those that haven't played, but a lot of the courses of action you take seem to have little effect on the world around you. Not to mention, the main questlines are very short and take around maybe 4-6 hours to complete in full, which is very disappointing, especially when you look at previous Elder Scrolls games when questlines could take around 10 or even 20+ hours. Most of the quests are "fetch quests" with small rewards and these never run out. They are fun at first, but after a while, they can get tedious and boring. There's no exploration or a sense of being "lost", as a map marker directly points to a quest objective's exact location. This feature can be turned off in the quest menu, but in a way, the marker is required because there are no instructions given regarding where you need to go for a quest.

Characters: rate 6/10. There are lots of characters in this game, but only a handful of them are worth mentioning or rememberable. The same backstories get told over and over again, and nothing else. For example, a lot of the dialouge I've heard goes like this, "I'm a fisherman / farmer / laborer of some kind and my family's been here for x generations (and I have nothing else to say)" sort of thing. It gets quite old. Even so, there are still a handfull of characters who are interesting and have more depth to their story than what meets the eye.

Graphics / Interface: rate 7/10. For the most part, the graphics and interface are aggreeable. The menu was made for consoles, so it can be difficult to work with at first and it doesn't always cooperate. The graphics could be better, but they don't take away from the experience, and the landscape can look quite beautiful in the big picture. The map is not helpful for navigation, as it is supposed to be a "real representation in 3D" map (not sure what's so great about that. It doesn't even fit the theme of the game!).

Glitches: This game, at first, had many glitches. Most of them have been fixed, but I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks / crashes at random, people get stuck in the floors, quests gone missing, etc. This was one of the biggest problems at release and it shows that the overall production of the game was running short on time.

The good lies in the gameplay and mechanics. Although the combat is still "click the mouse untill the enemy dies", it can still be fun. I personally think stealth, dual-wielding, and smashing things with two-handed weapons (not necessarily combined) offer a fun combat experience. As stated earlier, this is an open-world RPG and you can pretty much do whatever you please aside from the first quest and work at your own pace - the magic of Elder Scrolls games. If you're into roleplaying, Skyrim is lacking in this area, as the leveling system is mediocre and there's little replayability value because one character could pretty much do anything and everything if you wish it to be so. Once you get up to the higher levels, the game is easy to break and the character can kill almost everything in under 10 seconds and leave unscathed, even on master or legendary (with the Legendary edition or the Dragonborn dlc) difficulty.

Overall: Despite everything I've said, this game is still enjoyable: there are lots of places to explore, endless things to do, and pretty good character creation. Although this is not the focus of my review and not required to enjoy the game, mods can really add to the experience and some people would even consider them a necessity (which is sad: why should people have to add things that should've been in the original game?). I would try Skyrim out if it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

Lots of people dislike Skyrim because there are better RPGs out there. I won't dispute that, but to say a game is bad just because there are better ones out there is unfair. I know that Skyrim has gotten a lot of people into the RPG genre, and they will find and play those other games for themselves. The story in Skyrim is of course a continuation of the Elder Scrolls storyline, set in 4E 201, 200 years after the events of Oblivion, where Skyrim is in the middle of a civil war. The main quest is acceptably long and complex, as are most of the side quest lines, which average 10-12 chapters. The landscape is covered in ancient ruins to explore for treasure.

The bad part of this game is the miscellaneous quests. Most of them are shallow, uninspired fetch quests and are ridiculously easy. The game's mechanics are also sometimes the butt of many jokes- since some enemies scale in level relative to you, while others do not, it's sometimes possible to kill a dragon in only a few hits, only to be mauled by a bear or a wild cat a short while later. The AI and character animations are subject to many bugs and glitches, including not-uncommon bugged quests that can make a quest unfinishable without using console commands to fix the problem yourself. Thankfully, this is the PC version, so using these commands is possible. Stay away from the console version 'cause if you get a bugged quest there, you're going to have to reload your last save and hope it works.

The visuals are impressive on PC, but I feel they could have been much better (they had to lower the texture resolution to make it fit on a DVD for the console crowd). The high-res texture pack available as a free download doesn't do much to help. Skyrim's environments, at least on the outside, are varied enough, from the southern forested regions to the frozen wastelands of the far north, but don't expect any more than the exact same look in every dungeon. Mouse movement is choppy at times and textures sometimes glitch out as well. As you might imagine, all these glitches really take away from the immersion of what is otherwise a great RPG worthy of many hours of gameplay.

Bottom line, I definitely reccomend this game. The great storyline(s) which all tie into one another, the vast amount of weapons and customization, dungeons to explore, and one of the best soundtracks I've heard, make up for the lackluster, low-res textures and occasional bugged quests.

One of the best games ever. Somehow I missed out on previous Elder Scrolls games. But now I see what the fuss was about. The praise for the series is well deserved. It could be harder - the difficultly at the very beginning (under level 10) was good but the game became too easy after that. I'd prefer no levels and skill points either.

My first RPG experience. Let's say I started driving a Roll's Royce from the beginning

This is in my top 3 games on Steam in terms of hours played. I'm not giving it a 10, because the last point goes to the community. Skyrim + mods is one of the best gaming experience I had. The universe is full of dragons, nice scenery''s, a good main story, and lots of options to develop your character.

The main negative point of the game is the lack of choice in the story line, and the repetitive quests (go there, kill that, come back). I recommend adding the "true compass" mod + the "no fast travel" mod to counter this negative point. Indeed, you are now on your own, with your eventually horse, running across Skyrim trying not to die before you reach the next mission, using the road signs because your compass only show North, South, East and West, and eventually using your map if you're lost.

If you're lazy and you want that fast travel, this is still a very fun game, even without the DLC's, you can sidetrack a lot, discover some strange places, and craft the best weapons.

The shout system is your reason to kill dragons, and the combat with dragons are quite epic. If you're lucky, you might even fight 2 at once and feel like Jesus on a raptor

I suggest you play this on Legendary, otherwise it gets boring by the end, and it is much more realistic and enjoyable in the long term.

Conclusion : Buy it, install 100 mods on it to make it better, and play for hours !

Skyrim is one of the few games that offers you an intense experience of gameplay with a great amount of missions, that can take you whole days of playing. Skyrim is one of the few games that I have started all over from the beginning completing its main story every time, making some changes in my character, and it was worth it. Every time you play this game you have something new to discover, some new mission to complete or some new place to explore.

I'll be the first to admit Skyrim is a no way near perfect game but most of the bad points about Skyrim can be protested, the combat for example, lots of people say "Why can't Skyrim have combat like Chivalry or Shadow Warrior well that’s because Skyrim is a console game as well as a pc title and it would be near to to impossible to make the melee combat as complex as Chivalry’s because there are only so many buttons on a controller plus the demographic that would play the game on console wouldn't appreciate the hardcore melee combat in a game like Chivalry and finally if they were to make the combat more player skill focused like Chivarlry it would make stat based weaponry pointless and stat based weaponry is a vital component of an TES game and most RPGs. I'll accept the complaint that what you do in Skyrim doesn't affect anyone or anything for example when you defeat Alduin dragons will still spawn, the only difference is that npc's will have different dialogue.

Skyrim is a game you will either love or find okay it all depends on if you can get over the shallow combat and if you're prepared to have to face the odd repetitive dull quest (if not just mod it).

This is it. Bethesda had finally done their homework by listening to their fans, researching into what worked and not thus far in this most complicated genre of all, what made Morrowind so much deeper and more memorable than Oblivion -- and they released what is probably their best and most consistent game yet. All things considered, it is also among the best role-playing games ever made. But Bethesda needed all their blood, sweat and tears, all the hard experience from Arena to Fallout 3 to pull this feat.

Skyrim is best described as a distinctive, homogeneous experience in a dynamic open world. I think it is best played in huge chunks, in a wide-eyed, semi-meditative state, which is a prerogative of open-world RPG's, this pinnacle genre in video gaming. I'll try to break down the best components of this experience:

    - As much as the vast open-world formula permits it, Bethesda creates free-roaming NPC's with true characters -- even if only some of them really stick out and even fewer are memorable. As expected, characters who are relevant to the main plot are fleshed out the most: Ulfric Stormcloak, his second-in-command Galmar, Esbern, and our clandestine associate Delphine, perhaps most of all. What is great though is that some of the less important characters end up being quite memorable too: Ancano, the mysterious Thalmor emissary in the College. Madanach, the disgruntled leader of the Forsworn. Kodlak Whitemane, the Companions' elderly foreman who even writes a lengthy diary that we can discover. And when I finally lost my loyal sidekick Lydia in some dungeon after days of doing quests together, I felt a genuine sense of emotional loss (even if she wasn't one of the more memorable NPC's), a very rare feeling in computer games.

    - Politics are realistic, complex, convoluted, frustrating, as they should be. The internal and external struggles of the various factions are not sugarcoated for the player, it's all laid out as it is, and we need to figure our own way around the relations. The Empire, the Thalmor, the Stormcloaks, the Forsworn, the Blades, the Greybeards -- all their destinies are intertwined in a realistic way, all have their respective agendas that the player needs to figure out with minimal to no hand-holding. The fact that Skyrim's political landscape is not simplified for easier digestion is one of my favorite aspects of the game. It's a subtle, mature feature not advertised with hype, yet it helps the immersion tremendously.

    - Many of the conversations are deep and involving -- for a Bethesda game. They are excellently written and are often quite long, which is taken for granted from some other developers like Obsidian, but it's a very pleasant surprise coming from this developer who were once notorious for their drone-like NPC's and deadpan dialogues. The crucial negotiation scene in High Hrothgar reminded me of the Castle Never trial scene in NWN2, as it achieved the same kind of tension, gravity and drama, which is awesome for a mostly non-scripted open-world role-playing game. Skyrim is probably the very first open-world RPG that lives up to the challenge posed by Obsidian's offerings in terms of dramatization and tension.

    - Many of the quests are creative, exhilarating and unorthodox. The main plot line is haunted by a sense of wonder and is graced by many (scripted) scenes that are bound to be remembered as some of the most memorable scenes in gaming: the first dragon hunt at the Whiterun guard tower; the reading of the Elder Scroll on the mountaintop; the dragon trapping in Dragonreach; the greeting and cheering of a dozen flying dragons after the final battle. And Blackreach, a vast, eerie, otherworldly cavern with abandoned structures is one of the top five ingame locations I have encountered in a game EVER. Outside of actual real-life adventure travel, it is probably only open-world RPG's that are capable of achieving this sense of wonder, since it presupposes the element of boundless exploration in an intriguing region. It also presupposes a capability of sensing wonders in the players themselves, something that many jaded gamers of today seem incapable of -- in real life or virtual.

    - Some towns are architecturally awesome and feel alive with daily bustle. Markarth and Whiterun, especially. I liked the vibe of Solitude and Riften as well. Again, this would not be such a feat in a "hands-off", closed-world RPG, but the fact that even towns are awesome and realistic in Skyrim makes the end product all the more irresistible.

So the game is not only huge and open-ended, but it includes characters, quests, books and towns with the high quality of smaller scale closed-world games: it's a culmination of the best of both worlds, not unified successfully until now.

Would of scored 10 if it was not for the bugs.

Skyrim is an amazing game, you can just sand in awe of its awesome wilderness. It was better than any other game I had ever played. The new leveling system made it easy to personalize your character. the random encounters of a dragon made it so you always had to be paying attention so you don't get jumped by a frost dragon. In oblivion, the leveling was made better, the story suffered slightly, but the open world nature really shined through. In Skyrim, the leveling system was finally brought to where it was not as abusable (although enchanting iron daggers by the busload is still there), but I found the story to be the weakest yet, and the exploration was dulled slightly by running through the same environment with slight changes for hours upon hours. The enemies, although very well made graphically, suffered from the same monotony that the scenery does.

All said and done though, this was still an amazing game. With plot that was more gripping it would have been a 10.

Story: The story of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is short yet solid. It is the tale of a hero(you) who goes from being a traveller mistaken for being with the rebellion, the Stormcloaks to being considered Skyrim's hero and saviour from the World Devourer, Alduin. The difficulty of the storyline varies greatly depending on which difficulty you play it on. On "Easy" it proves no challenge, as you can easily sweep through the whole storyline in one sitting.
To spending months to grind enough for each quest while on "Legendary" difficulty.

Combat: The combat of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is only one of three main combat categories, which quite small as you can only build your character in so many ways. Mages are the glass cannons in Skyrim, dishing out large amounts of damage using magic in exchange for their health. Assassin are the easiest (in my opinion) to sweep the game with, as when you level enough you will essentially be invisible permanently on all difficulties, while dealing instant kills from sneak attacks. So OP yet so fun. Finally the warrior, just as OP as the assassin, The warrior kills his enemies with swords, axes and broadswords. But drops off in the late game (lvl. 61 onwards)

DLC: This is what lowers my mark significantly, as most of the content in the DLC is much better than in the actual game. When M.H.C's (abbreviation for Money Hoarding Corporations) are on the loose it is sometimes upto the companies who stick true to fair pricing roots to keep them. Bethesda went down the dark route. THREE DLC'S ARE AVAILABLE, EACH 20$ EACH. THAT IS JUST GREED FROM BETHESDA. Please Bethesda, stop now.

Overall feelings: Even though Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim is unbalanced, laggy and downright greedy from Bethesda, it is still one of the best RPG's out there, winning many GOTY prizes. I guarantee you that if you get this game you will enjoy it.

I've never got very far in it to be honest, I travelled the 7000 steps just once. I've logged hundreds of hours, but mostly that was just retreading familiar ground, after tweaking my mod setup again. At one point I'd broken the game so badly I had to re-install from scratch and took the opportunity to switch from NMM to Mod Organiser, and then S.T.E.P Advanced. Now I have over 500 mods and 240+ plug-ins.

Fully modded, it is a breathtakingly beautiful game, of rare scope and ambition.Mods only add to that, it becomes a game of "what do you want to play?" I even lately started to watch a Role Played "Let's Play" on YouTube GamerPoets Channel. It's amazing in itself, as it doesn't feel like a game, more like watching a TV serial.

As a game it's not what it was when it was released, but it has also become so much more. If you're a gamer, you owe it to yourself to play this, especially in modded form on a decent, (by 2015 standards) PC.

I gave it a 9.0 as by default it does have bugs and it can be a bit unstable, though again with mods you can get it to behave, and spend hours playing without issue.

Terrible companions hold back this game a lot, and the graphics are not that good without mods. Also, the story was uneven at times in their quality, like how the Thieves Guild storyline would be mediocre, the Companions storyline would be utter garbage, then the Dark Brotherhood and Main Quest storyline would be excellent. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Skyrim is a masterpiece. It's one of my favourite games of all time even 4 years after release I'm still enjoying every second I spend in Skyrim. I hated myself for just playing Skyrim on ps3 as my fun was quadrupled when I got it on the pc, mainly because of the modding community. I'll now talk about how good Skyrim is.

    The Story
The story in Skyrim isn't really talked about that much because people tend to get side-tracked from Skyrim's story due to the huge open world of Skyrim. The plot of Skyrim is that u play as a prisoner who is about to be executed along with some other storm cloaks. However lucky for you a dragon attacks the city and kills nearly everyone in the city and destroys most of it. You and a member of the imperials escape though and the open world of Skyrim is then opened up to you. You then need to find out why the dragons are coming back and stop them. After doing a few quests you discover you are one of few people to be called a "Dragonborn" which is basically a person who slays dragons and absorb their souls. The story in my opinion is one of the let downs Skyrim has. I know I have seen this sort of plot before and it seems just boring. I didn't really care about why the dragons are coming back I just wanted to stop them. Thank god that the quests you're put on are better than the plot.

    The characters
Like most Bethesda games I don't particularly think that the characters really stood out. People just seem to be people. There isn't much else to say about it I didn't really care much about people I just thought they were people going about their business. The exception is actually the playable character. I seem to like the playable character more than most of the people living in Skyrim which is saying something as the main character is the only character that isn't given a personality. The personality is forged by the player. If they want their character to be a cold hearted murderer who works for the dark brotherhood they can make them be that, they want them to be the civil protector of Skyrim they can do that as well, if you want them to settle down have a family with a wife and kids and a house you can make them do that (Well with the hearthfire DLC)

    Graphics and sfx
The graphics in Skyrim are great I only wish my computer was able to handle the ultra graphics setting so I'll need to settle with high quality. However I do have a few complaints about the graphics. The graphics seem to make some parts of Skyrim particularly the snowy areas of Skyrim look rather drab and bland. I also thought they could have made the water look a bit better. In the end I decide to get mods to fix my problems so there now doesn't seem to be much to complain about graphics wise

The sound is fantastic. Sound changes depending on the scenery you're in you can listen in on other people's conversations if you're in towns you can even get quests if you listen to the conversations.

    Enjoyment
I really enjoyed my time in Skyrim and I still visit it every once in awhile. All quests seemed fun and some of the side quests seemed to have better plots than the actual main plot of Skyrim. I also seem to like the DLC plots more than the main plot of Skyrim.

I even had fun just running around exploring all of Skyrim

    Final Verdict
No matter weather you've played previous elder scrolls games before or you're not into open world games I recommend Skyrim to literally anyone I can find

    Pros
    + Great graphics
    + Huge world
    + Great sound
    + Good combat
    + Variation in enemies
    + Good side quests
    + Great DLCs
+ Build your character the way you want to

    Cons
    - Snowy areas look bland

    Final verdict: 10/10

Skyrim is a must buy, even more of a one if you get a deal on it, DLCs are also worth it too however I might wait till the hearthfire DLC has a discount on it as it doesn't add as much as the Dawnguard or Dragonborn DLCs

Unfortunately, Skyrim trips and falls on its own (most probably, to make the cool-sounding deadline of 11-11-11) and just before it reaches perfection as the ultimate specimen of its genre, it self-destructs in a crucial aspect of game design: the interface and the peripheral components (inventory, journal, map, etc)... but that is not to say that Skyrim is anything but a truly majestic, epic RPG that will suck you right in its cosmos.

Skyrim is definitely one of the best games of 2011, but if the DLC holds out, it might just be one of the best games of 2012 as well.

Skyrim is the best open world RPG you can get. A true evolution of genre is not flawless but still it is the game you love to live in. [Christmas 2011]
