    Truly great game. I really liked game-play mechanics - especially well developed crafting and leveling system that just felt natural. The world is big and beautiful, dungeons has it's own marvelous atmosphere. I have to admit that every good thing I've heard about this game was true. But everything bad I heard about this game was also true. Most of the quests are painfully generic butTruly great game.     Skyrim is one of the best open world games of all time, what can i say about this game that hasn't already been said?.
    This might be one the most re-playable games of all time, with the help of mods you will always find something new to do, some place you never explored before and a NPC you never talked to before.
    The graphics for the time in my opinion were jaw dropping, not because of textures but because of the beautiful scenery found in this game, i still find this game graphically impressive to this day, even though the texture and models are outdated.
    Although i love Oblivion, i think this game is an improvement on almost all levels (the character building was a bit better in oblivion), the gameplay is tighter and gives you more freedom with stuff like dual wielding spells and weapons, the NPCs are more interesting and aren't as buggy and the main plot is definitely more compelling and engaging.
    Skyrim gives you freedom to play as whatever you want and that is what gives it it's replay value, you can customize your character to be what you want, and if the addition of mods, the possibilities are almost endless.
    This game will go down as one of the best game of all time and is a must play for anyone.

    - Fighting art included, where proper striking/blocking combination is as important as character stats. - Sorcerer's battles with massive lightning effects, spanning over whole screen, casting complicated spells with some key combination found in an ancient book hidden in the last corner of an abandoned elf mine. Freedom of dressing where    For an Oblivion's successor I would wish:

    Characters react to situations and are not all scripted. Not much is needed, but when right after dragon attack an old lady casually asks, if I fancy a chatter, is the mood ruined.

    Unfortunately it stayed where Oblivion ended. At least we got:

    Real sized dragons (yes they did it!!)

    This game stands well for a game running for 5 years, but it still has aged some. Everything in this game works, but there are a decent bunch of bugs and glitches, sometimes game-breaking. I would still highly recommend, especially for PC due to the tremendous mod support.

    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the best RPG games made it the last 10 years, especially back in 2011. I cannot speak for the quality of the game during its release period, as I was able to play it 4 years after, but it definitely set a milestone for games of its genre in the entire industry.

    25 hours spent on this game. Was pretty good. Drawbacks are some glitches, some strange physics in the game when players are on mountains. On good side : scenario, history and what is behind the story, fights, freedom of movements. Good too to find it a 5sgd on steam. That's worth.

    One of my favorite games of all time. Even without mods this game has almost everything an RPG- Fan could ask for.

    A massive open world, decent combat mechanics, great story- and questlines.

    Graphics for a 2011 release are decent.

    The only thing i sort of dislike is the dumbed down skill system.

    If Skyrim had Morrowind´s skill system skyrim would be a 10/10.

Definetly a game worth picking up and on my top 10 games of all time for noostalgic reasons and of how good it is when you mod it, even the vanilla version is good if your not into modding in wich cas whats wrong with you!?     This is one of my favorite games of all time! If you for some reason haven't played this masterpiece yet, buy it now!! (believe me you won't regret it) The only reason I didn't rate this game a 10/10 is because if feels like they sacrificed some quality for (even) more quantity.

Bethesda even gives you their own creation tools for you to tinker with every aspect of the game. Want something that isn't possible with the creation tools? Write a script! It has nearly an astronomical ammount of mods on the nexus (or steam). This and only this is why Skyrim deserves a perfect 10.

    Without mods, Skyrim is just a slightly above average game. Especially on day 1 it was painly obvious it was developed for consoles. It had a really incredibly terrible user interface (which was fixed by a mod eventually) and on day "2" Bethesda came with some badly needed high resolution texturepack.

    The story isn't all that extraordinary and can be played through in under 40 hours. The combat gets predictable after a while and a mod is needed to make it interesting again. The gameplay is quite fun, but the vanilla levelling system, skills and perks are flawed. The quests given throughout the game are just OK. Enemy AI doesn't make sense most of the time. Since an arrow in their face shouldn't fall under "must have the wind". And dragons making angular turns isn't also something i would call realistic.

    But, everything is fixable with mods. And because Bethesda designs the game around the ability to mod it, it deserves a perfect 10.    … Expand

    I was able to get the complete download from Amazon for a very reasonable cost, as soon as I logged in I was instantly hooked! This game is a great way to spend a few hours or less, having a virtual world to explore by your self makes you appreciate all the detail that went into the game design. Controls are a little different than online MMORGs but easy to manage.     Wow.... One of the best RPG ever. Incredible beauty world and lore. Good crafting and leveling. If only missions was varied I would give 10/10. But I love this game.

    the reason i dont give skyrim 10 is because of lack of the story and repetitive gameplay.     Well, I'm a fan of Skyrim, I have played it like 7 times(full game) but I have to be honest, the game is not perfect and has a lot of troubles. Your actions doesn't really have a impact in the game(being the lider of the companion, thieft guild, etc), the leveling sistem is BS, the variety of weapons,armors and enemies are so poor, bugs, etc etc etc.

    - The gameplay is intuitive, and the core interfaces are all friendly to heavy customization. Nearly everything can be modded, and the library of mods out there is terrifyingly extensive.
    - The sounds and visuals are fantastic. Even on low system settings, the cracks in the wallpaper rarely show.
    - The freedom to play your own way is one of the hallmarks of Bethesda games, and in Skyrim you're almost immediately free to go do whatever you want.

    The Bad:

    - There are a few glitches around, but it wouldn't be Bethesda if there weren't. Compared to the recent PC editions of Fallout, though, Skyrim is relatively clean, and I only ran into one unexplained crash in over 90 hours.
    - Companion AI still leaves a lot to be desired, especially when they keep running into the path of your spells and arrows.
    - The Dawnguard DLC makes it way too easy for shopkeepers and other useful-but-not-essential townspeople to die.

The providence of Skyrim is a wonderful place to get **** in the ass by frost trolls and have the guards up your ass from accidentally pissing them off! What a great experience! I especially love when I forget to save and then get killed by some overpowered enemy! Best game ever created 10/10!

    There is a lot to do in the game but it all feels a bit lifeless. Also was unstable on my computer. Too many ghosts and zombies. Useless narrative. Drab environmental design.

You don't need to follow the questline or the side quests, you can literally do anything which you want to do.     Really enjoyable game, being able roam the expansive beautiful lands playing it anyway you want is great escapism. It doesn't need an enticing story line when the game is so free to play how you want. Not polished enough for 10.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The critics have seriously overrated this game. There is not way Skyrim is a perfect 10. And I will explain why:

    Pros:
    -Great graphics with a beautiful landscape and nicely decorated and nicely designed dungeons and ancient cities
    -Great mechanic for crime; One hold's bounty won't affect how another hold treats you
    -Great Blocking mechanics, shield bashing is pretty much life in Skyrim's combat
    -Good selection of creatures and enemies
    -Great replay value
    -Great skill system
    Cons: (Watch out kiddos, this is gonna sting if it's your first TES game)
    -Overpowered shouting mechanic, where literally the first shout makes you a god in combat
    -Shouting cooldowns are on a wicked cooldown considering you are supposed to be kin to a dragon
    -The Armor cap pretty much makes heavy armor obsolete unless you just like the looks of being a plated warrior. Leather should NEVER be as protective as DAEDRIC armor
    -Dual Wielding has no point. You don't attack fast enough or deal enough damage to really make up for the damage you take without being able to block.
    -The combat mechanics are broken. When you are on legendary difficulty the worst part isn't fighting, it's watching your stamina because once you get dry on stamina, you are defenseless. And you will be shield bashing or using your weapon to bunt them a LOT. Which eats stamina FAST.
    -Accidents just cannot be forgiven either. Too many times have I accidentally shouted or swung my weapon and an idiot guard or peasant walked right in front of me at the last second only to catch my warhammer or my longsword to the back of their head and they want to call me responsible for it.
    -Dragons almost never land on ground without Dragonrend-- There IS a method of using frost spells, but if you aren't a mage, you won't be able to use this at all.
    -The main story is ridiculously short. I think it's only like 12 missions or something like that. I finish it in about 3-4 hours if I focused on nothing else.
    -The world isn't even that big either. If you want a large map to play on, try TES's Arena. You will spend literal days on that in exploring ALONE. You can run/sprint from Riften all the way to Solitude in about an hour. (Not including if combat comes around, that might take another 30min)
    -Literal no challenge. No repair fee, No exploring really necessary...
    -The wars between the Stormcloaks and Imperials was really short. You only had 2 major city takeovers and what was worse is that you couldn't actually see the cities crumble. You would think catapults would just lay waste to the city, but all you see is the damage scripted to happen. and it just got weak. You will quickly find yourself asking isn't there more to the wars than 2 city takeovers and a handful of fortress takeovers?

    Overall Skyrim just doesn't come to par with Bethesda's other works. This is a dumbed down, kiddo version of what could've been a good game. But you would think that a game where you were considered a dragon, you would be able to shout as much as the dragons do, and not like a living draugr would be a fun experience, but I just get bored with it eventually.    … Expand

    Shouts are an interesting gimmick of this game, they are basically an extra spell that you can use from time to time, only that the effects can be potentially devastating: summon storms, summon a dragon to aid you, breathe fire and frost, disarm everyone in a radius, push everyone in a radius, and more.

    The sound track is pretty amazing, again Jeremy Soule does an incredible job at conveing the themes of Skyrim.

    The combat is bland to be honest, it's all about spamming left click until inflated health bars die out, The greatest addition is dual wielding weapons, or combing weapons with spells which give an extra layer of depth into the combat. It is serviceable and it's miles better than Oblivion or Morrowind, which i guess is ok.

    Like I said before, quests are boring and uncreative, and present you with no choice. You have no impact on the world. You can finish the main story and guards will still tell you that they received an arrow to the knee and taunt you and such. The factions are boring and unbelievable. Again you can be the leader of the Dark Brotherhood, of the Collage of Winterhold, of the Thieves Guild, and of the Companions. The travesty continues where you can become an Archmage without developing your magic skills at all, which sounds incredibly dumb. What's with Bethesda's fetish of you becoming the leader anyway? The Civil War questline is a carbon copy for both sides and it boils down to capturing settlements and engaging in some large scale battles. Nothing else, no espionage missions, you can't loose the civil war either (god forbid people fail at stuff these days), no trying to perhaps find a peaceful solution to the civil war. Nothing. I however appreciate the fact that both sides are not representations of good or evil, each side has reasons to why the player can be compelled to side with, or not, which is pretty much the only case where you'll find such a decision to make.

    The Skill system is a joke as it doesn't promote variety at all. What it promotes is homogenisation. Let me explain briefly. In Skyrim, you can max out all your skills at some point. How is this fun or interesting? Because there is no level cap, you are basicially unlimited and thus your choices on where to spend perk points are watered down. The only meaningful choices are where to start pending points first.

    Eh, but I am criticizing this game too much. To be honest, it does perfectly what it sets to achieve, and that is to create a compelling sandbox world where you can go anywhere and explore at your own leisure. It's a sort of playground for modders and such. In fact, Skyrim excels with mods, as they greatly expand the potential of this game and is able of fixing many of it's shortcomings.

    It's a good game, but not the RPG I expected from previous titles.
    For TES VI, I can only hope Bethesda learns from this and FO4 and give more love to the roleplaying side of the game.    … Expand

    A game much deserving of its universal appraise. Skyrim's huge, beautiful world and set of amazingly written characters will leave you amazed. Very few games can match this masterpiece, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys to play games. Its endless set of quests and intense story will make it extremely hard to put down.

The gameplay is generally fun, though it can be underdeveloped and slow, I enjoyed using the bow and there is a varied selection to choose from. The RPG elements are well implemented, though they can be a little shallow. There are many different paths you can take for your character, you can choose to be an assasin (like me), a mage, or a warrior and be highly specified, or you can just do everything and be a jack of all trades. Overall Skyrim is a very fun and enjoyable game, though it has many bugs, but these can be overlooked for the engaging quests, great gameplay, and engrossing world.… Expand

It is absolutely amazing to look at, and because of the open world you are able to immerse yourself in this incredible environment.     The combat is also vastly improved than in previous elder scroll games. It looks a lot more entertaining and being able to equip on both hands really make the combat more diverse and a lot more fun.
    Also because I am reviewing the PC version, the accessibility to mods really enhance the experience. Being able to engineer the game more to your liking thanks to installing a couple of mods is a must for PC players and helps enhance the gaming experience.
    That being said, Skyrim does have some flaws, most notably with the storytelling. The main quests are quite simply very lacklustre. One pressing issue is that nothing feels important in the main quest line. There is no sense of urgency, no sense that anyone really cares about what you are doing which makes it hard to distinguish the main quest from some minor quests. The characters are also forgettable. I have spent a lot of time in this game and there is no character that caught my attention or that I can even remember. Your character is also given no backstory whatsoever. I think they want players to imagine their own backstory. But it would have been nice to have some quests that actually relate to finding out more about who your character is and have options to decide who your character really is. The dialogue options is also abysmal. There are no real consequences to saying one thing as opposed to the other even if they would usually elicit significantly different responses.
    Overall, this game feels a lot more like an action adventure game than a role playing game, which I suppose shouldn't be too big of an issue. But I feel like RPGs have more depth and make for a more enjoyable and immersive experience. Thus Skyrim was a little disappointing for me as I don't believe it was as good as previous Elder Scroll games. But don't get me wrong, this game is still very enjoyable and a beautiful game.    … Expand

    Absolutely lovely feeling of returning to Fallout, the very first one, when you seem to have a goal and still do everything you want and    I realized that this is a great game, when one day after killing an imperial patrol and having left off to sell the loot, I ended up with a gang of marauders who came to rob MY blinkers! As a result, I had to carry things from their carcasses too.

    Absolutely lovely feeling of returning to Fallout, the very first one, when you seem to have a goal and still do everything you want and more.

    And the atmosphere in the game is excellent, the winter is cozy, and even the translated songs performed by bards do not annoy but work for the atmosphere.

    And finally I fell in love with the game after two moments. At first, in one of the cities a guard came up to me, frowned at me and said - "Or maybe this is me, only I don’t know it yet." And the second was much later, when the thief who met me at night, to my usual "what am I like a person who has money?" honestly answered me that I look like a person who has nowhere to put them ..    … Expand

    This game has been my go-to escape for years. Its graphics, score, game play -- even some of its amusing glitches -- make Skyrim nearly peerless, even after years on the market. What an amazing, enjoyable effort it is.

    Incredible! Just incredible! The world is huge and the questline is easy to get lost in. Just delve into the world of Skyrim and begin your journey as the Dragonborn. I recommend this to anyone, even kids. Skyrim will not dissipoint.

    The best Elder Scrolls game in my opinion. The world in Skyrim is better crafted than that in Oblivion or Morrowind and has a superior gameplay and game mechanics. The game is very very long and can require more than 200 hours to complete.

    What to say about a game that is already considered a classic? The game may feel a little boring after a while, but if you immerse yourself in the story you will definitively love this game. And MODS, TALOS LORD THE MODS IS ONE OF THE BEST PART, specially if you play the game raw, and then install a bunch of mods.

You can assume a role of a hero, that you can let him grow the way you want, in a high fantasy world full of rich lore behind it. They will keep you engaged for months if not years. I will not complain about bugs too much as it is common in games of this size. There are also other minor issues with this game such as not so well written story, not refined relationship system with NPCs... well, I really have a hard time finding something to complain about this game. I would recommend everyone (of the right age) to play this game and they play again with some mods installed. But beware beware the dragonborn comes!… Expand

    I have played games my entire life. The soundtrack is breathtaking the story is rich with hours of things to do. I recommend to play all Bethesda games and you will find a good underlying feature work.

    Skyrim is beautiful, not only the map, but the all game is just beautiful. Soundtrack is so amazing. Combat System give you so much freedom. Some of side's story are fantastic. A lot of people say that the plot sucks, does not, it's average but definitely not suck. TES V: Skyrim it's very good game, that's all.

    The game was really ambitious in 2011 and until now (2019) still one of the greatest RPG that ever existed. The map is very big, great enemies, great charcter building, great quests. There are some bugs but for a game so complex its kinda unfair to consider thouse bugs as a bad point in a review. For sure one of my favourite games of all time.

But the world is so beautiful, cohesive and immersive, it’s easy to ignore Skyrim’s flaws.

    The attention to detail is astonishing. I have found myself in awe in many situations where the world of Skyrim reacted in mind-blowing ways. I am not talking about scripted events, mind you. You can find your horse -Shadowmere- getting pissed at some enemies and climb hundreds of stairs to invade a bandit camp. You can become a vampire lord and play the game as such and it will still make sense within Skyrim’s world. On your journey to a mountain, you can see a dragon flying around, minding its own business. That said, you can engage with the dragon if you choose to. In Skyrim, you can pretty much go anywhere you like, anytime you like and engage with anything you see. For a game made in 2011, the ambition is spectacular. Even Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall was extremely ambitious when it came out in 1996, so you may think Elder Scrolls has always been an ambitious series. What takes Skyrim apart though is the fact that the game totally delivers in most aspects, despite being overambitious for a 2011 game. I loved Oblivion, but I can easily say Skyrim is the better game (except the questlines) and as far as the Elder Scroll series is concerned, Skyrim is up there with Morrowind.

    There is one more thing that should be mentioned. If you are into high fantasy, you likely have a special love for dragons. It has been 10 years since Skyrim came out, but it still is, by far the best dragon game ever made. Dragons are part of the game’s world and they never feel out of place. Yes, the fights can be quite easy, but it never feels scripted.

    Music is spectacular, although a more variety of songs would have been nice. Sound is really good too.

    In summary, Skyrim is the perfect comfort food. Yes, it is even more casualized than Oblivion. Combat Is bad. It’s very easy even in expert difficulty. But despite all these, Skyrim is extremely good at what it’s trying to achieve. Skyrim is the second-best Elder Scrolls game, second only to Morrowind.

    One of the best first-person adventure, terrain games ever. A fantasy game born out of dreams. It can be a bit dank sometimes, but that's the style.
    I always love wandering the world. It's unquestionably a high-mark game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm confident that there is no better open world RPG game out there. Starting just from the main screen where you hear the song of the Dragonborn hypes you up to play this fantastic game in a way that no other game has done before it. Then when you drop in you immediately get to know the environment of the civil war in Skyrim. The character customisation is combined with the game in a very good way. Then 2 minutes after you started the game and saw the civil war you meet your main antagonist - Alduin. I also really like the irony that Alduin saves you from death, so you can defeat him later. Overall the main quest line is quite good as it introduces you into a lot of the main cities, the thieves guild, and the blades. It shows you that in this game you will be exploring A LOT of caves. The 4 sub-plots of the story - The thieves guild, the dark brotherhood, the companions, and the mages college are even better than the normal story because they introduce daedric lords, and most of the different skill trees you can build your character around. The bards college sub-plot is smaller, but still very fun as you can slightly make your own song for a festival. The biggest sub-plot - The civil war is awesome, and the battle for Whiterun is the most epic part of the whole game. The only down side I find to it is that you either choose jarl Balgruuf to hate you or jarl Laila to hate you (she also gets replaced by Maven Black Briar, and you probably hate her). Another thing I think they should have added to the Civil War is the hard to do option of stopping the war, combining the Stormcloaks and the Imperials, and driving the Thalmor out of Skyrim once and for all. The first DLC was a nice add-on that gave players more freedom, so I respect it. The Dawnguard DLC did an amazing job of showing us the vampires, and I like how they again gave us the option between Dawnguard and Vampire Lord. The Dragonborn DLC added a whole new chunk of land - the island of Solstheim. The main story of the DLC wasn't as good as the main story of the Dawnguard DLC, but I think all the other missions, items, and lore added with it made it the best DLC of the three. To sum up, Skyrim is the single-player game that makes you think you are playing a multi-player game, and even after your 4th play-through you can still have fun with it, not to mention how many game-breaking mods are there. I definitely recommend to every gamer out there. GO AND PLAY SKYRIM!… Expand

    PROS: 1) Beautiful and mysterious environments that are a joy to explore. 2) Addictive gameplay that never feels like the same play-through twice. 3) Fun and intriguing main quest lines supplemented by the never ending minor quest engine. 4) Being the Dragonborn is awesome. 5.) MODS: you can change nearly everything about the game to suit your own tastes.     The game is spectacular, the best rpg game I play. I played this game for a total of +200 hours. but I'm pretty tired of playing the game anymore. I'm sick of caves , I'm always bored when I play in the caves. Of course after playing thesefor hours, it happend like that. I want to walk around in nature . because after playing for a long time, the dark environment becomes boring

    Es un buen juego aunque la historia principal y el final no son gran cosa, y el sistema de combate se siente como un "voy a usar todo lo que tengo y, si no gano al hacerlo, no tengo forma de defenderme", a diferencia de como ocurriría en God of War o la saga Souls con el bloqueo y el esquive, dando la sensación de que los combates no se deciden por mi habilidad.

    Skyrim is a perfect RPG experience, but it fails to deliver in all the other areas. Combat, immersion, crafting, bugs and glitches, this are all areas that Bethesda could have improved but didnt, thats why IMO skyrim gets an 8 out of 10 (skyrim can be massively improved with mods and is easily turned into a 10/10 game)

    In a role-playing point of view, Skyrim can be great. From the cart ride at the beginning of the game, to delving into dungeons or just exploring towns or the world itself. Even with mediocre graphical quality, Skyrim maintains a sort of magical but grim and dark theme. But after    Skyrim is loved by many and hailed as one of the best RPGs in the world to this day, except it's really not.

    Pros:
    +Immersion. You'll stumble into a town and hear guards talking about recent events. Citizens will gather around a pub/inn or a market place. At a glance skyrim can really feel alive.
    +Easy to pick up and enjoy. If you don't often play games or are just generally not good at them and prefer a more casual experience. Skyrim is easy to get into and has a very simple UI and pretty simple controls.
    +Stumbling across quests while just exploring feels rewarding.
    +Mod support is good.

    Cons:
    -Voice acting is a huge hit with it sometimes feeling like only 10 people are voicing the hundreds of characters in the game.
    -The main quest is quite dull and feels like Bethesda put 90% of their budget into quantity instead of quality.
    -A lot sidequests are unmemorable with maybe 2 handfuls standing out out among the absolute **** load of quests.
    - There will be more than a few times where you'll obtain a quest and put it on hold for another quest only to completely forget about that quest and then decide it's really not worth it.
    -Being able to master anything in the game with no restrictions removes a lot of replayability.
    -After seeing all the mods for the game you really start to see what Bethesda could have put in the game, and disappointingly starts to feel like they relied too much on their community to make their game good.
    -Bugs,Glitches and crashes still to this day,if you've not downloaded an obligatory mod to fix all of the game's issues, then it's a buggy crashing mess.

    If you don't mod the hell out of it, Skyrim becomes boring quickly, Especially when it's compared to previous titles in the Elder Scrolls series.With bugs and crashes that Bethesda has still not fixed to this day,the game never feels stable on modern hardware even with it's mediocre graphics.    … Expand

    There's so much to do in Skyrim, I don't know where to begin. Pinnacle of sandbox fantasy games. The base game is great on its own and the mods make even better experience.

    Unfortunately, Skyrim trips and falls on its own (most probably, to make the cool-sounding deadline of 11-11-11) and just before it reaches perfection as the ultimate specimen of its genre, it self-destructs in a crucial aspect of game design: the interface and the peripheral components (inventory, journal, map, etc)... but that is not to say that Skyrim is anything but a truly majestic, epic RPG that will suck you right in its cosmos.
