My wife also plays and at first she was more skeptical, now it has turned into all she has played since early access. Anyone review bombing this or giving negative reviews is most likely doing so out of spite or hasn't played.

Bethesda makes Bethesda games. All of their open world games be it Skyrim, Fallout or now Starfield have some similar mechanics that will translate from one game to the next depending on the setting. I feel that they did a phenomenal job of taking those mechanics and updating them for this release.

Crafting: Spacesuit and Weapon modification, Outpost and Ship construction, Research and Pharma terminals. The crafting will have you consumed with wanting to do more and more. The ship building is especially addicting as it can be seen as a mobile base. I'm just about to crack into outpost building but from what I've seen as what's possible in game, it looks equally addicting.

Main and Side Quests: I wish I could tell you my opinion on the main questline, but I keep getting pulled away by bounty hunting, side quests, getting kidnapped in someone else's ship, etc that each day I log in it feels like I'm playing a whole new game. I had the same experience in Skyrim, but where I could do a couple side quests, do some adventure then touch the main story line in skyrim, I find myself devoting whole play sessions to other stuff I discover. For example, last night I wanted to start building an outpost, but then I discovered I can go to the outskirts of the main city, New Atlantis. While I was out there I got ambushed by Pirates, found an autonomous farm and a smuggler ship waiting for a package mule. Suffice it to say, I did not end up building my outpost, but I had one heck of a time.

Combat: Both On foot and in space combat is greatly improved over previous Bethesda titles (on foot). I am astonished by how much improvement they have done to this system. Combat feels engaging and rewarding. Adding in the Jump pack and you getting verticality over enemies can put a smile on your face quick. Additionally the varying states of gravity can spice up combat really quick. One time i was on a disabled ship and the ship's gravity kept turning on and off, meaning stuff was floating and falling everywhere. You also can feel the benefit of additional traits, skill unlocks and buffs provided by each weapon. I spend a lot of time in Star Citizen so I can tell you that Starfield is not a space sim, however what it does get right is that spaceship combat does feel exciting. Blowing up an enemy ship feels very rewarding with hits to the hull flaking off pieces and modules; but disabling someone's ship and boarding it is way more fun. After you board, the crew of the ship is waiting for your attack in pockets of the ship, with your job being to clear it, take any valuable items and get out.

Looting: Sometimes i go out and loot what I need, other's I go out and loot what I want. There is so many items to find, and you can use these items to decorate your room, ship and outpost and everything has 100% persistence. At the stage I'm at, I feel like I'm still discovering new weapons even after having discovered a ton.

Graphics: Graphically I am ultra impressed with the fidelity and detail given to each weapon, suit, ship and interior. This has to be one of Bethesda's crowing achievements in open world games with the amount of attention given in every space. Even things like computer stations that aren't functional will have you getting in close to see what is going on. Graphical performance has been pretty great for my machine, but I am running a fairly high end rig. I have also played on XBox and while the increased frame rate on PC is awesome, running at 30fps playing from the couch can be just as enjoyable.

Bugs: I know some have said they have experienced a few, I however have not.

Improvements I'd like to see: While I'm giving the game a 10/10, it isn't without a few things I would like to see added or improved. These are relatively small items and doesn't ruin the experience.
-Ground vehicles need to be added for exploration. Even if it's a relatively slow lunar rover style buggy from the Apollo missions, it would certainly help and could even expand cargo space on exploration hikes.
-Optimization (PC): The game has been optimized well for AMD cards, however I am running an NVIDIA card and would love to see native DLSS support.
-In Game Radio: Look I know it's not fallout, but with the SSNN (Settled Systems News Network) being a thing, I don't see why I can't tune into it in my ship where right now I have to go to an SSNN kiosk and listen.

Summary: Starfield is one of my favorite games of all time. I've longed to get lost in another Skyrim/FO type experience, now I am. I will be deep in the Starfield for years to come.

The richness of the Starfield universe is simply breathtaking. We often find ourselves contemplating breathtaking landscapes and admiring spectacular views from our spaceship. Exploration becomes endless pleasure, with every corner of space an invitation to adventure.

The game is not visually perfect. Some parts of the game may seem uneven in terms of graphical quality, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience. Despite its visual flaws, the game is mostly beautiful, thanks to its design and attention to detail at every level of the game.

In summary, Starfield is a video game masterpiece that takes us on an epic journey through the stars. Its richness, its generosity in well-written quests, its capacity to surprise, and its sense of exploration make it an essential game for any fan of science fiction and adventure. Despite some major imperfections, Starfield shines with its ability to captivate and amaze, reminding us why video games are an extraordinary way to experience incredible adventures. The game will undoubtedly last for many years.

Some of the graphics in this game are absolutely astounding such as the ships and their interiors, indoor mission environments and character equipment. Outdoor environments can vary between fine and pretty good, but oh my god, I love just walking through the buildings and ships, filled with a million items you can pick up. It's a slow burn AND PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TRY EVERYTHING YOU CAN IN THIS GAME, There is so much content that is almost hidden or not told to you in this game that you have to look for and discover yourself. The game doesn't hold your hand too much in that aspect.

Ship combat and traversal is great (make sure you invest in perks). Although some may be disappointed it's not as deep as other similar games, its not as shallow as people think (there are ways to roleplay to make it more realistic, such as using the scanner to traverse a system without going through menus).

Performance is pretty hit or miss and will hopefully be fixed with patches (there are also some mods that can help, particularly for Nvidia GPUs). It works well enough but its not great. Ran on Ryzen 5600X and RX6700XT and had a mostly solid 60fps at high/ultra settings, do some tweaking here to squeeze fps.

Yes there are bugs, but i havnt run into any glaring bugs, just NPCs sometimes floating or jerking around a bit. Absolutely not a deal breaker at all.

This game could perfectly be called Fallout 5. It's as if they had copied things from Skirim, Fallout and other games, with the same sense of missions and mechanics with their procedural worlds that I don't like at all. But not everything is bad, the main missions are entertaining, the creation of the ships, which is their strong point, and the "linearity" that you can have in this game. I emphasize the worst thing is its AI, the truth is that it is the part that most disappointed me, no, being an rpg it must have some difficulty it doesn't matter if you increase the difficulty the nocs don't change their water they are just like a sponge from which they absorb a great amount of bullets haha .. Bethesda should leave this graphics engine and look to the future with other technologies, moders can save this game in a year, maybe it will be in condition. I wish. Expand

In Skyrim you had a detailed, handcrafted open world to explore packed full of points of interest and secrets. In Starfield the planets you land on feel empty and padded out with procedural generation.

Especialy with ton of entertaining side/main quest with a lot of things to do. I recomend forming your own opinion and enjoy.

I have been playing since early release and I can say that I find it to be what I would expect from Bethesda. Being set in not a continent, planet or solar system but a universe makes the fast travel system not only necessary but very helpful. Side quests are where it is at, much like every other Bethesda game.

StarField Is simply fantastic, Bethesda innovated their style and made a Masterpiece of a game, if you wanted to explore the space when you where a kid, StarField is specifically made to power your dreams like you've never had a chance.

Clearly, a great contender for Game of the Year, and a spectacular opportunity to explore the future of gaming.

The graphics are nothing to write home about, but are certainly not heavily outdated, I don't get other people having problems with facial animations and the like, everything looks fine for me.

If anything people should be praising Bethesda, for the first time in recent memory, they've released a game without outright game-breaking bugs, from what I've seen. Plus, the modding potential is absolutely immense.

A truly incredible game, while occasionally uneven from a technical standpoint, it still manages to offer breathtaking vistas and multiple large cities that can rival other titles solely focused on that aspect of gameplay. However, here, we have 1,000 planets to explore. I've spent 50 hours exploring only about a dozen of them so far, but I've been able to traverse hundreds of outposts, bases, laboratories, mines, caves, observatories, and more, almost never coming across the same ones. Granted, you can't walk around planets entirely, and yes, there's a loading time when landing, but damn, it's absolutely worth it because each landing is a separate adventure (and who wants to walk for hours on an empty planet anyway?). The game is a delightful tapestry of details with infinite potential, already boasting a gargantuan amount of content that guarantees hundreds of hours of gameplay (without even considering the mods that will inevitably come and potentially double or triple that time). Bethesda has given us one of the finest gems in the genre, which will undoubtedly remain a benchmark in both RPG and space opera/exploration terms. Thank you for this masterpiece, which, despite its few flaws, is currently offering me unparalleled hours of adventure, something I haven't experienced in quite some time.

I feel fortunate to have gotten in touch with Bethesda's games when I entered university in 2011. After stepping into work life, I gradually experienced various RPG and action games, as well as their hybrids. By now, I've realized that the origin of RPGs is inseparable from tabletop CRPGs or TRPGs. I believe Starfield is a game worth playing and it would be a real pity to miss it. Below I'll share some of my thoughts.
1.It is inevitable for a game to have some defects. However, over-emphasizing and repeating discussion of these shortcomings can negatively impact players' gaming experience and emotion. As players, we need to take a balanced view towards the limitations of each game, and actively find the highlights and core fun.
2.As an independent game company, Bethesda has established its own distinct style and open-world game philosophy since the 1990s, which can be traced back to the heritage of The Elder Scrolls series. We should not simply require Bethesda to create games according to the current mainstream trends, but appreciate its unique personality in game-making.
3.Many players expect space flight and space station experiences in Starfield. However, Bethesda's expertise lies traditionally in allowing players to find fun through rich quest designs and open-world exploration. We should not require Bethesda to change its creative direction based on our own expectations, but embrace its personalized style.
4.The RPG game genre originates from tabletop games. As one of the representative companies of this genre, Bethesda also retains the foundation of immersing players through rich character-building and story-telling. We should not over-emphasize space navigation experiences while ignoring Bethesda's consistent focuses on character and narrative.
5.Every game has its strengths and weaknesses. Facing some shortcomings in Starfield, we should not completely reject or boycott this game emotionally, but accept the game as a whole and find the praiseworthy highlights in it.
6.Returning to personal gaming experiences rather than over-referring to various online reviews can better help us discover the essence of a game. This is the real fun and nature of gaming.

I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
