I was waiting for EA to change their model and they have.

Most of the reviews you've seen before this will say the game was bad due to "Pay to win" features in the game. Now I completely agree with that, but people should be wiling to retract their bad reviews if it was fixed. Battlefront 2 is an amazing game that really brings me back to playing BF2 for the PS2. Battlefront 2 is an amazing game that really brings me back to playing BF2 for the PS2. It brings me back to sitting up playing alnight with my friends when were still kids. The game is 1000X enjoyable and is infinitely better than the failed abortion that was battlefront 1.

The pay to win features have been removed, so that no longer effects my review of the game. On it's own I give it a very high score, it's certainly better than the new WW2 Call of Duty in my opinion.

I really wanted this to be good, and it looked so when the first trailer was released but due to the GREEDY nature of EA, it's buggy campaign, stupid multiplayer decisions and obviously its reliance on lootboxes it's getting a well deserved 0 from me, especially when the original Battlefront 2 was such a masterpiece.

A $60 title with a Pay to Win progression model. And now, with the micro-transactions paused, progression is limited to the slow grind that was designed to open players wallets. Refunded so publishers know its not okay in a full price title.

    This is really sad that all of negative opinions came from a un-grown child which are didn't even play the game and just cry the river about "having to spend some time with a title to unlock a content which they didnt have to pay EXTRA for it in a DLC";

Overall the single player is good and the game is really fun but the progression system is crap. There is going to be a lot more maps characters and campaign levels added and ea are trying hard to correct their mistakes.

To be frank, the Campaign was just terrible, I mean have no intensions of replaying it, the screen resolution on 4K was not gorgeous it was choppy, and didnt look very good at all, graphics over hyped, and a lot of the features and promises made seem to have been empty like my pockets.

This is the last EA Game I will invest in for the entirety of 2017 & 2018... maybe 2019. And here is why!

    Star Wars Battlefront 2 Campaign
Extremely Short - Very Cut and Dry Mission Running with ultimately no options other than just Blast them!
Wonky Controls - Kind of glad they can be changed in Keybindings but seriously who uses G as a Activation Button?!
Bad Acting - Gameplay usually helps allievate bad acting however when the gameplay is bad, this makes it x3 worse, that I / you have to endure it longer than it needs to be.
Its not a Role of One like it seemed in the trailers, its a role of many, kind of like you get to play everyone in Star Wars you never really wanted to play, and not for comic effect either (Again Bad Acting).
Decisions, Decision, Decisisons... yea not really, again a cut and dry action campaign, there are no decisions, they are no reactions.
Like Playing a Movie... No Not really, like playing a mistake,

EA fore shame, I won't be surprised if they turn heel like Mass Effect Andromeda and drop it too...
    What a crappy experience.

P2W aspects might still fully be in the game after they re-enable "the ability to purchase crystals in-game at a later date". People should NOT go out and buy the game just because of this statement by EA. A wait and see approach to the statement made is the best course of action at this time.

You are forced to choose between unlocking heroes or advancing your classes. The cost of crates are also high. The crate that contains the card you would use the most is the Trooper crate and cost 4000 credits only 1000 credits short of the cheapest heroes. You earn credits at a rate of 200-300 a match. When you first start the rate of credits seems fine because of challenges, but they will run dry long before you can afford to unlock everything. That combined with the random nature of the unlock system means you can be suck without being able to upgrade the class you want for quite a long time. These unlocks matter because they represent real power increases because they improve cool downs and damage on abilities. The system feels like a F2P BTW system and has no place in a game that costs money just to play. Expand

This absolutely stunningly beautiful game could have been great - but it's not. It's not even good, although it could have been with just a few minor gameplay changes.

    My main complaints are:
    - The matchmaking, or rather the lack thereof. In one game I played the two top scoring players in one team had more than twice as many kills as the entire other team. And this wasn't just a fluke; most games were extremely one-sided. Either my team totally dominated, or the other. Only one game in ten got exiting in the end.
    - Want to join the game along with a group of friends? Prepare to be disappointed. On our first attempt me and my two friends ended up not only on opposing team, but ON DIFFERENT SERVERS. And again, this wasn't just a fluke, it happened on multiple occasions.
    - So, you and your friends managed to end up on the same server? Want to play together as a squad? Think again, there are no squads! You simply end up spawning together with the last few teammates to die. So, in a good game, you might occasionally see your mates somewhere accross the other side of the map. But you'll never fight the enemy together.
    - Want to experience the forests of Endor? Or would you rather go to Naboo? EA doesn't care about your preferences. They'll send you to whatever map they see fit.
    - Although the game cards with power ups makes for a pretty fun way to level up characters this feature gives experienced (and oftentimes better) players an unfair advantage versus less experienced first timers. So, as a new player, prepare to die. A lot.
    - The maps, and the objectives, seem more focused on creating beautiful environments than offering interesting gameplay.

Besides of these faults I find that the game play lack in depth. For one I never feel back about dieing; I'll just pop right back up with another character within a few moments. It's as if my life isn't valuable at all. What if some of my abilities unlocked over time? Or what if me dieing meant that our team lost a spawn point (in case no other teammate was in the area)? What if there was something to make every playthough feel unique?

So, I ended up paying something like $4 to access this game on Origin Access. Don't think it was worth it.

1- Microtransacciones...

EA wants to do it again with this game. Putting micro transactions But the biggest aberration is when you have to spend 40 hours playing to unlock a single character. This is designed so that the player is frustrated and has to pay with real money to achieve the achievements and objects of the same game. In addition, it shows that EA seeks to generate a new market around micro payments, and not in the sale of video games.

On Reddit users complained. EA answered doing good to defend his position. Then, he received the figure of half a million negative votes. That's why they said they were going to reduce the cost to unlock everything in the game. This shows that you can change the industry instead of accepting the course you take just because.

The online multiplayer is a disaster with little to no game balance and usually has someone that pay to play with a kill streak of 6,000,000. It is like this on every map where someone just kills everyone and recycles the points and then becomes a hero again.

With MTX disabled, as logical damage control, you realize how much you actually have to grind in this game to get somewhere. It's a treadmill and you have to keep playing, since the progression is tied to upgrades, unlike Overwatch, where you get everything gameplay right from the start. So they create a powercreep and Veterans/players who simply spend more time, will be stronger by default and not by trheir skill alone.

Also very important, the lootboxes are currently disabled, since they don't wanna be the guys who offer gambling for kids on releaseday and save their precious sales. But P2W is still very present. You can still buy the Deluxe Edition, which gives you epic Star Card upgrades for $20 more and the P2W system was active the whole beta, they just turned it off before release. So all the whales could buy all the lootcrates they want and have a huge advantage now, while all the underequipped lowbies become cannonfodder to these people. There is no reset, people keep their progression and bought stuff.

This game is a disgrace and EA is a morally bankrupt company, preying on their gullible targetaudience who can be treated like dogs.

Please don´t buy this game. EA views you as cattle and their threatment of this game proves it. Lootboxes and Pay to Win practices are damaging the Gaming Industry. The Gambling that is unavoidable with the lootbox system is dangerous to ex gambling addicts and children alike.
For your sake and the skae of everyone else, don´t support this behaviour.

The same people are also the reason why we now have all sorts of micro-transactions in $60 games in the first place. They are also responsible for encouraging the publishers to push for day one DLCs, content cut from the game to be released as DLCs, and other such disgusting practices in the past that others like us have to suffer for.

These practices need to stop now before they really go out of hand and destroy the gaming community. And what better way than to make a stand than with a Star Wars game?

This game will forever be overshadowed by the disgusting business practices of EA which is actually pervasive to the entire gaming industry at the moment. The game leaves a sour taste, I felt dirty after playing it and I refuse to buy any loot boxes.

The campaign is actually exceptionally short, and you can't progress your classes/heroes in arcade mode, so the real crux of the game is the multiplayer which as we all know is a P2W, cash-grabbing gamble-fest. If you remember the last scene of Rogue One with Darth Vader, that is EXACTLY how MP matches play out when a player has invested heavily in loot crates. You will be annihilated. Darth Vader can get over 1k health, ten times more than any of the regular troopers and he kills them in one hit before regenerating his health.

I highly recommend to avoid this game or get a refund if you have played it and finished the campaign.

Unfortunately, the progression and loot box system totally undermines the multiplayer experience. I hope Disney takes note of this fiasco, and awards the Star Wars licensing rights to a proper game producer that will keep fans happy, instead of one like EA who tarnishes the Star Wars franchise for so many. The game itself is good, it needs some additional tweaking but overall it would be a solid entry to the Star Wars universe if not for the blatant, and downright villainous microtransactions implementation. Players of the deluxe edition or early access were free to spend as much real money as they wanted/could afford to gain an obvious competitive advantage over other players; in a AAA title multiplayer game, that is downright destructive to the game and community. I hope that EA, Dice, and Disney all listen to the fans and do something to make this right. The actual goddamn game:

Much like the first modern SWBF, SWBF2 looks and sounds amazing. The graphics are very detailed yet the game runs smoothly on a middle-of-the-road PC. The music has been improved to feature more of the classic Star Wars score, making the game feel much more alive than the previous entry.

Multiplayer matches are your standard Battlefield fare. Compared to the Battlefield titles, the weapons mostly have a lower fire rate, but the time-to-kill is roughly the same. The map design, while asymmetrical, feels balanced. Unlike Hoth in the previous game, the maps do not end up in one-sided fights and the spawn points don't dump you directly into the line of fire. The controls for flight have been touched up, with the semi-autopilot from the previous game completely gone, making dogfights and space combat much more skill-based.

As of this review (written at the end of launch week), there don't seem to be any weapons or abilities that absolutely dwarf the others in power. Every weapon and ability has its tradeoffs. Abilities can be upgraded to be more effective through the crafting system, which feels slow and random. That being said, the time-to-kill in this game is so quick that the abilities hardly seem to give you an edge. Good map awareness and tactics from a new player will beat an optioned-out run-and-gunner 9 times out of 10.

The campaign, while short, features a compelling story with decent characters. If you pick up the game, it's worth a play-through. I won't spoil anything beyond that.

All in all, SWBF2 is a solid game that highly improves on the first game. I've had a lot of fun playing so far, and I have not felt punished for not buying lootboxes.

    The Politics:

Frankly, I am worried about this game's future and the hype machine surrounded by it. Yes, EA's lootbox system is technically P2W because paying players can get power faster than non-paying players. I think they absolutely need revamp the lootboxes to remove P2W items and include fun non-gamechanging items like you see in Overwatch and CS:GO. However, the impact of the P2W system has been blown out of proportion IMO. It's nothing like those old Nexon games where you get destroyed by whales.

The impact of the P2W stuff is very similar to that in Battlefield 1, so if you could tolerate it in that game, you can tolerate it here. The fact that EA is making last-minute changes to their years-long project means that the pressure on them is real, and there is a chance we will see them forego the P2W stuff entirely.

To those that would love to play this game if not for the P2W mechanics, I urge you keep an eye on this game and see what EA decides to do in the future. If the small amount of P2W makes this game absolutely not worth it, I totally get it. But don't rob yourself of a good experience because the Internet hype machine says so.

A 0 is only reserved for games that are totally broken and unplayable, and a 10 is only reserved for a groundbreaking experience that changes the way I view gaming as a whole.

But honestly I can't force myself to rate this game any higher than a bare minimum 0. There is a decent, functional game here, don't get me wrong, but it's buried under microtransactions and digital deluxe editions that make it impossible for anyone who doesn't spend an exorbitant amount of time and/or money to get the stuff they need just to put up a decent fight. Everything EA has been doing in response, including temporarily removing the ability to buy crates with real money, all come across as nothing but kneejerk reactions to try and save face, still treating their audience as if we haven't wizened up to their insincere apologies and empty promises. But enough is enough.

I'm rating this a 0 because nobody should buy this game. I am a hardcore Star Wars fan and graphics whore who could not wait to play as clone troopers in all the HD glory they deserve, but despite everything I tried to get some kind of enjoyment out of this game, I simply couldn't do anything about the circumstances I had to deal with. I played six matches in multiplayer, all six of them were joining matches in progress, and all six of them were complete curbstomps where my team couldn't so much as make a rude face in the enemy team's direction before being blasted away by epic-tier star card abilities and instantly unlocked upgraded weapons left right and center. It was the most dreadful experience I've ever had in an online multiplayer game Since Destiny 1's Crucible and Overwatch's solo que, and that's saying quite a bit.

For your sake and for the sake of all gamers, *do not buy this game.* You are feeding a monster that only wants to suck your organs out through your gut and toss you aside once you're an empty husk.

    3. Anti-humanity flight control system from DICE since Battlefield 1942, and they never improve it. DICE should learn how to make a semi-flight-sim from Warthunder. Infinite Warfare did a much better job last year than DICE and I don't know why people gave them so much negative reviews just because it happened in space? I bet those Star Wars themed space flight simulators made in the 1990s are much better than DICE's games.
    4. Toy-like spaceship models. It seems like EA makes DICE to look after those stupid low performance Xbox scopion and Playstation consoles and "why not make those spacecrafts low-poly so the consoles can run at 4k 60fps".
    5. First-person and third-person switching is so badly made, DICE should learn how to make a first person kong-fu-martial game from Shadow Warrior 2.

The game's progression system is heavily influenced by chance and manipulates and encourages players to spend real life money for in-game advantages is:

    1) Not fun

    3) Disrespectful, and
    4) Clearly telling me that the creators/publisher prioritises money over integrity.

This feels like a free-to-play experience; when I pay a premium price for a game, I expect a premium experience.

I have to admit, while trying to progress, the system does feel like a prettier version of a slot machine. As progression is tied to randomised loot boxes, essentially micro-gambling, it feels cheap. And to have this variation of gambling in a Disney game is just simply not cool to put it lightly.

The game-play is fun when it isn't influenced by additional real life money.

EA tries to please casual gamers and hardcore gamers at the same time, but the old saying about that stands true: jack of all trades, master of none. It's not casual enough to be arcade like, and not hardcore enough to be a Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. Also, the economy debacle is worse than anything I have ever seen in a game.

You pay real money to get random loot. How is it even legal that is marketed towards minors? I hope the EU Commission looks into it. At this point the game is beyond redemption. It deserves to crash and burn.

Battlefront 2 might look good and be interesting for the twitch reflect younger players but for the 30+ casuals... it is a hot mess.

Normally I do not mind to be lagging behind the twitch reflect players but man does the loot box make progression a big F Me. Firstly loot boxes take forever to get at around 2 hours per loot box. But they also give **** random loot, at which I keep on getting Starfighter and officer cards when all I play in my casual gameplay is assault.

Thus the extremely slow and uneven progression + the fact that BF2 do not have any Asian servers (so my lag will always be high) and combined twitch players with lower ping makes this a game of constant frustration.

As a casual the need to massive grind to get cards specifically of which I want in my limited time is really **** and stupid. Do yourself a favor and DONT BUY this game if you are a casual player.

This game deserved to die horribly in a fire. Mediocre campaign, recycled multiplayer with very little content to keep it exciting, gets extremely boring after the first few days of playing. Without the micro transaction bs the game would be average. Save your money, wait till its 20 bucks in a few months, which it will i promise you.

Play as the role as Loot Skywalker in Credit Card Wars : Gamble Front 2. The only thing that works properly in this game is the mini game where you insert your credit card details. The Android and Apple store would be proud of your achievements.

Even thought the game has amazing graphics the micro transactions present in this game are 'pay-to-win' and promote gambling to children. Even though EA has temporarily removed them, they also stated they will reintroduce them later. This standard is unacceptable in the gaming industry and no one should be supporting the shady and anti-consumer practices of EA

I was very excited for this game initially however I can't support the way the industry is going with their manipulative micro transactions and loot boxes. I will not buy this game even if EA turns face and completely removes the system. I am also not going to be purchasing any EA games or products in the future.

EA tied to shove pay 2 win loot boxes down our throats. They tried to make us have to spend 40 hours to unlock 1 hero character. The "progression system" is still a complete joke. The only reason I'm giving this game a zero is that I can't give a negative rating.

All I want want is a good star wars game but apparently that is too difficult to manage. Everyone is better off just playing the old battlefront games instead.

No game should treat its consumer base like atm's, designing entire systems meant to exploit the psychology of players into being pressured to pay to get ahead. Shame on EA for ruining the Star Wars Brand name with this shameless cashgrab

If micropayments will return to the game, I can not improve my analysis because I do not see any justification for making us pay later for something that I already paid. I want to play full games for only one price. I am willing to pay a little more for good games, but I do not want to buy games that force me to play for hundreds of hours to progress or pay to progress.

Ever wanted to spend $60+ for a game full of micro-transactions? Well this is the perfect game for you then. I remember a time when games were released with plenty of content for 1 lump sum of $60 or less. Nowadays you'll be lucky to get one tenth of that for $60. Things being as they are. It's a wonder that EA havn't sued IGN and gamespot yet for "contract breach in regard of review score on metacritic" since neither of the publications gave the game over 90 in ratings citing "evil and predatory business practises.

The brief of the game is this. Buy it to be able to spend around 200$ to be able to have the chance to have some fun. maybe. It is a 0/10 from me as it is literally unplayable without a rich daddy giving you an allowance of over 2,4K in allowance... (the cost to buy enough loot boxes to maybe be able to get access for what you originally paid the 60$ for)

And people at EA is wondering why people are mad..

There was a time where i would defend Dice to the hilt. This game is no exception btw, i've been playing their games since pinball dreams. The game is great visually which makes it so heartbreaking.
I've played Runes of magic for example, which is totally ptw and doesn't hide the fact and this game doesn't appear to be ptw.
It's the window though. That time where all of the pre-orders

It's the window though. That time where all of the pre-orders and the new players all get together and grind up and have an absolute great time doing it. Then nubs like me join and get annihilated. it's a game for the short term (look at the last one LOL)
    1/ it's not the game
2/it/s not compatibility or patches that are needed.
3/You've been pushing the buttons and now you know how far they go down. Please act accordingly.

Also this may seem errant but please look to your practises rather than the consumer medium and forum vitriol.

Pay to win won't become the norm, we won't let that happen. If it was a free game I could understand but make me pay 60 bucks and still want me to pay 120 more just to be competitive is beyond abusive.

Apart from the great Starfighter Assault mode Battlefront II is a mess of conflicting ideas, uneven mechanics and of course questionable monetization practices. DICE is facing long months of salvaging the game and the studio’s good name. [01/2018, p.32]

Even the tinsel of the Star Wars world cannot hide the silly story and the boring singleplayer gameplay, or the necessity to accumulate the credits in the crate hunting in multiplayer. Battlefront II pleases as a genuine shooter in the beautiful scenery, but EA should deserve a slap into the face for their mad progression system.
