Please, don't buy this game. Just do not waste your time on it. This game is pay to win with a stupid storyline, you can not even play darth wader (front person in franchise) from the very beginning. I am very disappointing.

With such a generic SP story that seems to have been written with a Michael Bay keyboard (five special effect buttons, and six generic music cues), there is little to recommend this at more than $20 without the MP to warrant a purchase, and as long as MTXs are anything other than cosmetic, SW:BFII will be a failure. Since few are going to actually care about cosmetics in this game, and will only want OP characters and abilities, EA *will* return to form. They *are* the dark side (of gaming). Expand

I have bought i, becouse i like Starwars. I tryed to play this game. But it is nothing but starwars in it. Microtransactions... ok it is may be bad. But it is not main problem to me. It game for peoples who live in games. Casual players like me will not see the most interesting content and will not play heroes in battles. BF1 was much more better.

As a Star Wars Fan, i am very disapointed. Looks great, the first minutes are good and nice to play but after a very short time, you are basically forced to buy the f****king lootboxes. The game would get a 8/10 if it is a Free2Play Game but as a Full-Price-Game, it is bullsh*t

Some Maps are totally unbalanced like Kashyyk. I played 15 Rounds and I've never seen some1 taking down 1 MTT... It's impossible. While sometimes you have to face overpowered Teams because of those stupid IMBA perks ... Additionally it lags so often on those servers that it makes no fun. Please dont buy this stupid EA Product. Remember those days you buy a game and had every Content without those crates included? That time already passed because people are willing to buy Season passes and those microtrans. for a "small" amount. EA has soooo much money and their excuse for Microtransactions is "production cost". All player that are paying for those crates are in my opinion fools.

This game is the literal embodiment of corporate greed. It's a full - priced retail game that not only gives you a straight up advantage if you pay even more money, it also gives you access to content that should be available for free. The microtransactions are worse than some F2P games, and that is saying a lot.

The Hillary Clinton pay-to-play scheme merges with a long line at the DMV. Waiting for upgrades to better weapons and abilities leaves you just another Star Wars extra, a putz, a grunt until a Darwinian length progression system finally allows you to be good enough to win. Is it fun? I'll let you know when I get there.

This right here even if it had the best campaign and multiplayer in the world would still not deserve any higher critic than 0, because it's essentially a scam, and scamming is...well, unethical, a crime. And precisely because it's done by a big shot corporation like EA, precisely because it's done to the Star Wars name it should be taken even more seriously, because if it's excusable for them then it's excusable for everyone (you may say it somewhat sets a standard).
It doesn't matter if the rest of the game is good when you have that said, however even judging the game on it's own merit, minus the trickery, I have one thing to say: it can't even be on the same level as it's 2005 predecessor (besides graphics? but BF2 Classic had great graphics for it's time so, is it even valid point?), a 13 year old game...let that sink in.

Heroes vs Villains: Just don't. The number of bot players who just stands there and being silly is.. well, silly. You'll have to requeue a minimum of 5 times to get a match where you are not haunted by idle bots. These bots could be dealt with SO EASY, just remove time-based reward system to a performance reward system. I can't believe they thought that was a good idea...

On a positive note... It's buggy, clunky and not even slightly reworked combat system from battlefront makes it justified to stick a fork in an electric socket and idle for the rest of the match because of the symptom of being dead.

Galactic Conquest: It's one-sided like in Battlefront. Nothing has changed. It's still, "Protect the Walkers" which is fun for a few runs. But then you always notice that there is 9/10 times one overly dominant team, and if you're not on that team, you'll exercise your rights to die a lot. Add to it the cards that get quite OP at a very high rarity level which will punish the crap out of new players, the amount of fun will be limited.

I will not try to be forgiving to EA. They've had plenty of chances to redeem themselves from disgusting business practices and failed to do so every time. I just hope I get to enjoy watching their stocks a while longer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is hands down the worst Star Wars game since kinect.... I am not even going to get into the legal and moral issues of the loot boxes, that tauntaun's been beat to death so bad that entire communities are living inside of it. I am here to say that the single player was horrible, the story is literally all over the place and the whole marketing campaign behind it was a lie. I figure they made a full story then took out half of it to give to you later, forcing you to replay the whole thing... if not the story writers are high on spice because I can not find any cohesion from one mission to the next.. let alone the notion they took out half the game is the dumbest thing I have seen since Jar Jar was allowed in the senate. Your characters join the rebellion within the first few missions, so this idea of it being an Empire campaign is a joke. Add to that half the time you are playing as other heroes (which actually are the only missions that are fun) but make no sense in the grander scheme of the story. The only plus I give them is that it fits within cannon... but I think that is to be expected so, that earns them no points.

The mulitplayer? Well it's trash. Their "everyone gets the same amount of XP system" has failed. Get 0 or 100 kills, you get 300 credits. This has lead to massive XP farming and has trashed the ability to find matches with active players... HMMM its almost like this same system was used before.. somewhere else... and failed... oh that's right, the USSR and soviet communism. Didn't matter if you were a CEO or a table waiter, everyone got paid the same and worked for a sense of pride and accomplishm- I mean for the good of the state. It totally worked out great... the way you XP farmed in the Warsaw Pact nations was by not showing up to work because they couldn't fire you. In ones and twos the state-police can handle it but when 100,000's started doing it in the late 80's not hard to see how that economy collapsed (amid other issues like the state telling people what they wanted vs producing what they asked for.... this also sounds familiar....)

Lastly, content. Some improvements were made, but far worse problems then seen in the first game have cropped. First, the cross era hero's crap. It's 2017, there is no reason (economic or otherwise) as to why you cant have 3-4 heroes on both sides from all eras... so there is no need for the cross-era hero thing.... which breaks the same canon EA said they didn't want to break by adding customization options...? The maps are good looking but the game engine is so messy lag and other issues plague way way to many of the maps... again its 2017.... this shouldn't be happening. If I have to choose between a map with 45,000 micro-rock details and lag... vs a map with only 10,000 micro-rocks and no lag.... The cross era guns is sometimes bothering but its not the worst thing I have ever seen... Some stupid choices were made like the Wookiees being a special unit for the Republic, its not like we have 10-20 or more options of different classes of clone troopers... Point is this game's priorities are in Alderaan places, EA is drowning in stupid decision after stupid decision - lies, deception. A sad section of our gaming population is still some how supporting these people, however I guess that's no so hard if you just don't look up right? In many ways those people are more dangerous then the monsters (EA) we fight against, because those monsters can not thrive unless there is a mass of people who refuse to take accountability for there actions, assume it doesn't effect them, and put there votes / money in the hands of these tyrants. This is how you get leaders like Mussolini, Hitler, Trump, and Palpatine.

I give all 300 of my credits to the Reddit community for launching a rebellion against EA, keep taking shots at them until EA collapses or until all the shots are expended.... The gaming industry at large is in trouble and companies like EA are corrupting it faster then Zann's defilers, so we need to really take a stand here, and get out the tow-cables...

Do not order this game, or any of it's follow up content. Keep this rebellion alive and keep up hope, because rebellions are built on it.

I have not played the single-player campaign because I've consistently heard it is dull and boring and I figured I might as well not waste my time.

Don't listen to the developers say that they are trying to make the game better for the players, because they aren't. They're trying to make the game better for them, in that, they want to alter the gameplay of an otherwise great shooter to ensure that frustration leads to you spending real money for loot boxes (which they will most undoubtedly re-institute at a later date under a different guise). So do yourself a favor and don't buy this game, it's a trash game with a trash company behind it. For that matter, do yourself another favor and don't ever buy an EA game, they need to go bankrupt for all the sh*t they put us gamers through.

Battlefront II is the most immersive and spectacular interactive Star Wars experience to date. As a seasoned SW fan, I get a huge amount of fun and pleasure when I play this game.

Learn to play tactically, learn your weapons, learn to land shots - and you won’t even feel this so-called “pay-to-win”.

I want to be part of an adequate, healthy gaming community. If you give a game 0.0 (not 6.0, not even 5.0, but ZERO, just think about it) only because you hate loot boxes, and you didn’t even bother to pay attention to great graphics and optimization, captivating gameplay, diverse maps and great sound effects - at the very least you’re not being honest.

This showcase of hatred and stupidity that I’ve found in users’ reviews is really embarassing. I do hope that the average score of this title will rise - or else Battlefront II would become the most underrated game I’ve ever known.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like the changes they made to Battlefront I and I don't feel it's a "pay-to-win" game, you're not required to pay any additional cent and can still unlock everything.

Most heroes are unlocked by default and some have to be unlocked for in-game credits you earn by playing multiplayer, arcade or campaign.
Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker for example can be unlocked for 15.000 credits which is the most expensive price heroes can have, others cost 10.000, like Chewbacca or Emperor Palpatine.
Roughly after my first 10 matches in multiplayer I would have been able to get Darth Vader for what I earned, yet I did rather purchase Trooper Crates instead since I get to use Troopers all the time.

You can purchase ingame "crystals" for real money, which in turn can be used to purchase Loot Crates ingame, yet they can be purchased using credits you earn by leveling up your overall rank, completeing milestones(achievments), playing the arcade or playing the story campaign.
Especially in the beginning you will accumulate big amounts of credits fast for the lower levels are reached faster, the typical milestones (achievments) like "Capture an objective in a multiplayer map." will give you credits as reward as well.

Other than purchasing crystals, which can be spent on the 3 different types of Loot Crates "Trooper Crates", "Hero Crates" and "Starship Crates" there is nothing else you could possible purchase with real money and these can be earned by playing as well, that's why I don't feel microtransactions make up an important part of the game.

To move the focus away from flaming about microtransactions here are some details about the actual game:

There is a short story campaign, which will ultimately leave you behind thinking about what's going to happen next in the upcoming movie in decembre 2017.
It is a linear story starting during the last of the original trilogy from the '80s - Return of the Jedi - and ending after the most recent one from 2015 - The Force Awakens.

The actual game, multiplayer, features several different gamemodes, which are:

Galactic Assault (40 Players): Battle on a series of team-oriented, objective-based maps. Visit iconic locations, pilot favourite vehicles, choose from among four trooper classes, call in special units, and be a hero.
Starfighter Assault (20 Players): Two teams of pilots take control of fighters, bombers, interceptors and hero ships and engage in multi-stage, objective-based space battles.
Blast (20 Players): Blast invites players to leap into fast-paced, close-quarters combat.
Strike (16 Players): Two teams of eight players compete in objective-based scenarios.
Heroes vs. Villains (8 Players): STAR WARS' greatest characters pitted against each other in a four-on-four team battle.

There are plenty of new vehicles you didn't see in Battlefront I and even some rideable creatures on some maps, no more pickups spread across the map instead you need to earn battlepoints throughout the match, by killing opponents and playing the objective, which can be used to spawn as a hero, special unit or in a vehicle.
I felt the heroes are a little less powerful than they used to be in Battlefront I, or harder to play, rather.
The Separatists and their droid army are now a playable faction including their vehicles.
The one thing I was missing most of all in Battlefront I is now included: Master Yoda!

    The other playable heroes are:
    Boba Fett
    Bossk
    Chewbacca
    Darth Vader
    Emperor Palpatine
    Han Solo
    Iden Versio
    Kylo Ren
    Lando Calrissian
    Leia Organa
    Luke Skywalker
    Darth Maul
    Rey

Each of them can be equipped with up to 3 star cards once you unlocked them by opening Loot Crates.

The 4 basic Trooper Classes are:
    Assault
    Heavy
    Officer
Specialist These are the playable artillery type vehicles: AT-AT MTT LAAT Gunship U-Wing Gunship These are the playable armoured vehicles: AT-ST AAT AT-RT These are the playable speeders: T-47 Airspeeder LIUV X-34 Landspeeder Speeder Bike Stolen LIUV These are the playable fighter starships: TIE/LN Fighter ARC-170 N-1 Starfighter TIE/FO Fighter Vulture Droid T-65B X-Wing T-70 X-Wing These are the playable interceptor starships: V-Wing RZ-1 A-Wing RZ-2 A-Wing TRI-Fighter TIE/SF Fighter TIE/IN Interceptor These are the playable bomber starships: BTL-A4 Y-Wing BTL-B Y-Wing Hyena-Class Bomber TIE/SA Bomber As with the heroes all of the above mentioned can be equipped with up to 3 star cards. Every Star Card you own has 4 ranks - common, uncommon, rare and epic - which determines how efficient the starcards effect is. You can improve your starcards you the next rank by spending materials you earn similar to credits. Each Trooper Class, Hero, Hero Vehicle and each Vehicle-Class has a star card rank that is equal to the amount of star cards you own for that class plus 1 for each additional rank on your star cards.

It feels like a dull grind and you can see in the matches that people just want the games to complete to get the creds without really caring about anything else.

Ground battles are amazing and chaotic at times, very cinematic feeling. The space battles stand out for me, and being able to go first person and enabling advanced flight controls, fantastic, feels like being in a Star Wars movie.

    - There are now 4 classes and customizable weapons.
    - More maps and a simpler quickly only matching system. - And of course a decent single player campaign. As for what is about the same as lat time - Smooth responsive action - great sound - guns feel great to shoot - well done maps. - Star Wars, mustn't

    - Smooth responsive action
    - great sound
    - guns feel great to shoot
    - well done maps.
    - Star Wars, mustn't forget that. Faithful models, troops, guns etc
    - Still a twitch shooter so you will die a lot

    On the negative
    - Graphics look about the same (which means they look great) yet seem to require better hardware (so maybe this is a negative). Prior to upgrading my video card SWBF2 did not perform as well and SWBF yet when i upgraded my video card and play at max setting I can not see the difference in improvement.

    - Seem to be less ambitious with the various multiplayer modes. Gone are the blended modes that mixed space flight with ground action.

    - The drama from the gaming community is worse than the thing they are complaining about.

EA and Star Wars is just a hot button topic for the gaming community. But this mob mentality and complaining about greed and "evil" publishers has simply gone too far. You can simply ignore the microtransactions and eventually everyone will have unlocked the most impactful upgrades so its sort of a moot point.

Terrible game. Same as the first one. Just a cash grab of a game thats really half a game so they can sell you microtransactions and other pay to win nonsense. Time gating and pay wall gating even worse than Blizzard's garbage. EA needs to be excised from the gaming community.

Good graphics. Boring campaign, tedious loot box structured multiplayer. All in all a less than average game. Would have given it a 3 but EA's dragged star wars through the mud & that kinda sucks, not to mention spending a full $60 on massive disappointment. Overwatch was cheaper & i play it more now than i did a year ago, non-game altering loot boxes also helped it's cause

Graphics and sound have a 10/10, but Is a pretty standart shooter in is core mechanics, but the thing that a 60USD game has microtransactions equivalent to >1000USD to unlock all the content or play like 18 hours per day IS INSANE at this moment, EA has not do much to fix any of this.

Piggish EA. With Battlefront 2 they neglected to understand that games are art, and that all art should be respected. When you consider the awful pay-to-win system attached to this game, a 0/10 is warranted.

Now that the P2W system is gone for sometime, The game has opened up many opportunities. However, I had to give the honest 9/10 rating, because EA is still a horrible company that ruins great games. They ruined this Battlefront 2 beyond repair, because they thought that massive paywalls and micro transactions would be accepted by the community like the dumb people they are. However, grinding has been proved to be much easier, as unlike the original 40 hours, it now only takes 4 hours to unlock Vader and Luke, and less for the others, and grinding is no longer as hard. However, the prices of the loot boxes, the amount of credits gifted by matches still need to increase, for people should not need to spend any more than 2 hours unlocking their favorite heroes. Shooter experience needs to be revamped to match that of iconic shooters such as CoD and Battlefield. But of course. EA will never listen to us. They will continue to release more good games like this then completely screw them up with stuff like micro transactions. This game had potential to outdo all the previous battlefronts. EA had that chance, and screwed it up. Still buy the game, as most of the negative ratings are still based off of the micro transactions and paywalls, which have been removed, and since unlocking heroes takes only 4 hours instead of 40, this game has become much more bearable for me. Casual people are allowing microtransactions in AAA games. Also whales are a huge part. Its optional so its not that bad to be there. But when company starting to push hard grinding like in Free to play games its a very bad marketing move.

Now that the rant is over, I will actually talk about what I got to play, the beta (I do not own the game). I actually had a lot of fun in the beta, it seemed like EA had finally changed, which is why when the game fell flat on it's stupid face it hurt so much. I was just having a great time on Naboo shooting droids that I felt a genuine love/hate feeling towards, and I LOVED the space battles that they showcased.

it was about one hour into the beta where I realized the cold truth. They had the loot boxes, I was okay with it at first becasue I was thinking it would be like an Overwatch style look box having only cosmetics and everything would be A-OK, but as soon as I opened my first box I let out a deep sigh seeing that you could obtain the star cards, that gave you an advantage over another player, even then I still thought that maybe they hadn't done the unthinkable but after looking through the menus I found it, the mobile gaming screen that should a currency, an amount of currency, and a price with USD at the bottom.

At this point I gave up, I played the beta to the fullest extent because I knew it would be the last time I would ever play this game. It made me really sad that I couldn't play the game anymore, that I wouldn't be able to play the single player campaign (which I have heard is pretty mediocre anyway). It just really hurts as a consumer to be told a truth about the DLC but even then, even after they gave us a reason for hope, they decided to rip our hearts out because of a Pay to Win scheme in a $60 game. Even Disney had to step in and tell EA to temporarily take out the Pay to Win currency. It really hurts me as a huge Star Wars fan to see this happen to this storied franchise.

BOYCOTT EA. This kind of predatory behavior is unacceptable. If EA gets an inch, they'll take a mile. This kind of behavior has been displayed by multiple AAA publishers and the only way to send a message against this kind of behavior is to rebel.

The campaign, although short and a bit of a let down from the story-telling aspect, is still a lot of fun. The internet Gaming Community armed with their keyboards went to battle with EA over the loot boxes, claiming unfair advantages to those that would shell out actual money to buy star cards. Now that the easy route to acquire cards has been removed... these same gamers are complaining that it takes "too long" despite everyone now on the same playing field. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Upon last inspection, the loot boxes don't include skill or gaming instinct.

This doesn't lay at EA's feet alone. DICE needs to shoulder some of this as well. EA says: "Have MTX so that your game has some long term revenue sources." DICE is who designs the system.
EA doesn't have anything to do with that other than saying "It should have MTX." There's a significant amount of engineering and design behind the star card system, it's not like EA can just shove it in there. It's unfortunate that those who don't actually know what it takes to fund, make, and sustain these games we all love so much had to go and tarnish the great reception that awaited this game. Rather than outright boycott MTX because it exists, provide feedback on what you'd like to see in the MTX instead. The free DLC and lack of a season pass far outweigh the cost of players buying loot boxes. Like it or not, MTX is necessary for a healthy and thriving games industry to keep producing the hits that you crave. (cosmetic or otherwise.)

World of Tanks, Football, Hockey, and Soccer Ultimate Teams, Battlefield 4+... where was the outrage then?! Just because it's a beloved franchise like Star Wars? You all think it's YOURS, and you OWN it? Please stop parroting what you're hearing about gambling, unlock times, the death of the industry and all the noise out there. Sit down, strap in and enjoy the ride

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love Star Wars. I have been called one-sided, fanboy and more by my friends on this subject, so I may not as objective as one could be.

I liked the first re-release from DICE aka SWBF 2015. It had its share of DICE issues, bugs.. but gameplay was fun for me.

SWBF2 2017, is not. It has WAY fewer bugs for me, it is very polished to my eyes. When teams are fair and balanced, I have enjoyed it.. when it was fresh and the maps were unknown to me.

Now that I have 60+ hours in it, I must say I am disappointed. Bored even. Everything is very predictable, most matches run the same way. Not much adrenaline is flowing, even when it's close. I just don't get involved as much..

I am trying to convey what exactly it is but I think it is the entire thing that is the problem. The hole pay-to-win issue, the way each match plays out, the lack of something being at stake..

When we lose we get 200 to 500 in-game currency. When we win... it's the same. Not that it all hinges on rewards, it is just one thing of many.

The loot-box system is ok... I see this as another way to progress a player and I get it. It's not super fun but now that I understand it, I am fine with it.

The pay-to-win issue I am not! The entire microtransaction industry needs to step it down a few 1000% or so. I HATE money, I HATE the way it makes people act and shape the world. It ONLY brings evil with it and all I care, it can just hide in the darkest pit of non-existence. Which is why I give it this low a score when the game itself not that bad.

But back to SWBF2, once you see the that loot-boxes are nothing more than crafting parts used to level up your cards, it is fine, it is just not particularly fun. The short of it is very simple.
Play to get in-game currency. Play a lot! Buy crates, well the Hero crate only, because it is the cheapest and crafting parts amount is the same for all crates. Each crate will give you cards and parts. In the beginning when you have very few cards, each crate will cost 2200. As you unlock more and more cards, you get refunded for duplicate cards at the level you have it at. If the new cards is of higher level you of course get a level up. So for a level 1 crate with 3 cards, you get 3x200=600 back, lowering the price of the crate to 1600.

Crafting parts range from 35 to 55, from what I have seen in my games. One card is 40(grey) parts to unlock, 80(green) to get to next level, 120(blue) and 480(purple) to highest. So you need to play MANY hours to even get fully unlocked.

I got around 450-500 hours in SWBF.. I liked every bit of it, the game that is. Not the cheaters. Not the early bugs and the ones DICE never fixed. But SWBF2 is a genuine flop in my book. Well-made, boring and not as much content as we were told it would have.

Last thing I don't like is the way classes get to select cards. It is too slow, complex, combersum. It should be less menu>double click>esc>menu>double click........ ect ect ect..

The good parts of SWBF2 are the battle point system, graphics, sounds, most of the menus, netcode and/or shooting mechanics, aiming, space flight and campaign. I freaking LOVE all that!

No match has yet felt over populated with the wrong player classes so they can über dominate the map. That balance DICE got super perfect. Best I have seen in a MMO game.

Graphics and the way it scales to lower end machines, almost perfect! A bit of stuttering when maps load up but not much else.

Netcode aka hit registration is much better then SWBF1. I never got to a point where I liked the shooting mechanics of that game but this feels natural, I get how it all works.

Space fighting is AWESOME! I truly feel like I have a chance and that I get what is going on and how to play the game. Wish ground fighting way this fun.

Campaign is shot but I liked it. Could have stayed on the Empire side way longer, that felt very rushed but all in all I was entertained.

Great graphic, excellent sound design, and a 4 hour campaign can't offset the fact that we, as gamers, need to pay microtransactions as if this is a mobile game, when in fact we spend more than $60 just to buy the game in the first place.

I actually think the weapons - which you don't need the crates for - are more important than the star cards, and the weapon grinds are particularly brutal. That's one area where EA could have clearly made the game "pay to win" (by allowing you to buy the guns) but they didn't. Everyone really needs to calm down about the transactions. I doubt any of these complainers have actually played the game. If they decided to try it before bashing it they'd probably discover that it's actually pretty fun.

It's clear that if you want to get the most out of your experience you'll have to spend a good 100-200 hours with this game, and that's even if you also chose to spend the equivalent of a season pass or two on the crates. Big whoop. If you're having fun who cares?

It's a shame to see such an over-the-top, immature, and frankly, a borderline libelous reaction from these reddit nerds. These are the kind of people that hate fun of any kind and log on to reddit to gripe about EVERYTHING. Pathetic.

It's an arcade shooter, not a large, conquest based FPS like Battlefield. Appreciate it for what it is: a sometimes mindless but ultimately enjoyable online multiplayer action game. I'm normally a Battlefield player but I'll gladly make SWBF II my go to game when I go on a Battlefield break.

Some defects from the first one have been corrected but the game is too much tuned for "pop-corn" sessions. Somehow epic, fast (or too short), without much flavor. In conclusion, you don't have the feeling you realize anything in this game. This game is finally pretty close to the definition of fast food. With all the bad things that it involves...
