Shocking piece of crap this game is. I'm one of the thousands of people who got a refund through Steam after playing it for over 10 hours. Nothing but lies, damn lies from the devs. The $60 price tag was a complete joke. It was only worth $2.99 at the most!

Not to mention its default FPS capped to 30 FPS. WAT?! I had to bump everything up to high and set the FOV to something reasonable in order to get the game to look good. After that every time I scan something there's a 1 second hiccup.

And you gotta love the fact that this game can't even connect to the server. So what little interaction you have with the outside world (other players) it can't even get that right?! Hello Games seriously needs to just close their doors and lay everybody off. this game and everybody involved with it needs to just never touch a keyboard again, never say anything again and just get outta gaming. PERIOD.

Fight with stupid sentinels not fun too. The behaviour of creatures on the planets are the same. No multiplayer just you can see other players dicoveries if you are very very lucky... this is **** pointless.

And finally the technical problems in pc... Huge framdrops and low framerate on a high and pc... this is a **** joke again... On a same pc run stable 80-90fps GTAV, 120fps Star Wars Battlefront, No Man's Sky runs 40fps with framedrops... and bugs with creatures stuck in land and others...

This is a scam. The game shown in the trailers simply doesn't exists. 2/3 of the features shown in the trailers were cut. Hello Games must be thankful for Steam and Gog having strong refund policies that allows users to ask for a refund for any reason, otherwise they would have lawsuits pilling up at their mailbox.

People who didn't refund and waiting patiently are left in the dark. The last patch (1.09) takes more away from the broken, but manageable gameplay there was, by patching up the "glitch" , which allowed people to stack similar items, even though people were asking for a function to stack similar items!! Unbelievable!
Others report, that their discoveries they made are wiped from their record, while some others complain about worse framerate.
At this point, the whole game is nothing more, but a buggy software to make screenshots. But first, make sure you get a 3rd party screenshot maker, because the game doesn't have one.
And at the end, there are better and cheaper (free) programs out there, that let's you take pretty screenshots of planets.

It's poorly optimized. It's shallow, empty, repetitive and boring. Their 18 quintillion planets are just a bunch of re-color of the same assets, randomly generated with different combinations. Their representation of the universe is inaccurate, every single planet I've seen is inhabited with life and/or vegetation, there are no gas giants, no ring systems, no barren planets (I've been told there are barren planets - i haven't encountered any) black holes are portals, and no variation of star types. But i'm not here to talk about that stuff you can easily confirm by watching some gameplay.

What i really want to talk about is how they straight out lied about it being multiplayer. The problem is not the fact that you can't see or interact and play together with other people, it's the fact that they said it was possible and it isn't. I'm perfectly fine with the game not having multiplayer, i play single-player games and i enjoy them. What i have a problem with, is they straight out lied about it being multiplayer, that is unacceptable, a game developer cannot do that and get away with it.

I am sick of these vague as heck tweets from Sean Murray implying something but not stating it clearly. It's just a series of shady moves they make over and over again, careful choice of words leaving multiple interpretations, misleading disinformation. They actually covered with a sticker the multiplayer icon from the PEGI score on the Limited Edition box. A few months ago the game had the Massively Multiplayer Online tag on Steam, only recently they changed it to Single-Player. After years of clearly stating that it was multiplayer, ONE DAY BEFORE the PS4 launch, they tweet that the game is not ''a multiplayer experience''.

Sean Murray specifically said on interviews you could see and interact with other players, and play together. Then on the first day it has been confirmed by two streamers that tried to meet up, they were in the same system, same planet, same spot, and couldn't see each other, for one of them it was day time, for the other one it was night time. And the kicker? Hello Games are celebrating that ‘’two players encountered each other’’. How can they be so deceitful?

Going back to the gameplay, the excitement lasts for about the first few planets, then the repetition sinks in, and you're left with a feeling of huge disappointment. You scan stuff, find some outposts, you mine materials, fill out your ship and your gear, run out of inventory space, go to the nearest space station, sell your crap, and then you move on the the next planet. That's basically what you do until you reach the center of the galaxy for a NG+.

If you're looking for a good exploration sandbox game, get Subnautica or even Starbound. An indie game with a indie game price. 92% overall positive reviews. Has survival mechanics, crafting mechanics, building mechanics. Better graphics and better optimized.

This would have been decent for a $15 early access indie game. Not a full priced $60 where they promised a lot of features, none of which even exist in the game. Hello Games deliberately lied about what the game was to sell more copies and this behavior should never be supported. Pirate this game if you're that curious, but do NOT buy it. It is a scam, through and through.

The way you get a blabla resonator is you run and fly around several planets, talk to dozens of exactly the **** same copy & pasted alien, until one of them gives you a resonator. You do not know why, as you have no idea what they're saying, you just click dozens of them until they give you a resonator. Then you go talk to another few dozen of the same copy pasted alien to find antimatter. On the way, you find a ship 5X the size of yours, it has 16 inventory slots instead of 15, you swap ships, put your stuff in it, fix it, by pointing mining laser at many things, hours later you talked to dozens more aliens, you found antimatter, but now you're gonna go talk to another few dozen thesame **** alien because the blabla resonator was stuck in your old ship without any means to get it out.

This game is complete garbage, it's actually a scam. There's nothing to do - at all - Just point laser at **** mine it, throw it away & talk to thesame **** alien sitting on his ass in a metal hut doing nothing over and over and over again.

If anyone wants to make a game today, PLEASE USE AN EXISTING GAME ENGINE! They're incredibly advanced and super-optimized these days, and they are cheap to license! You even get access to the full code and can modify it as you see fit if you need to do something unusual.

Game engines lets you stand on the shoulders of giants, and frees you from technical concerns so you can focus on developing your actual game! You'd have to be an idiot to not take advantage of that!

Should you be stupid enough to decide to roll your own engine instead (and have less than 100 man-years of highly skilled programmer time to dedicate to the job!), you'll end up with a game that looks really dated and low-resolution, but that still runs like total cr*p on high-end PC's.

Guess what Hello Games decided to do... that's right, they made a game engine!

And of course it sucks like there's no tomorrow...

Flying over a planet you'll hardly even see what it's supposed to look like because of the ugliest pop-in of any game in history. That's how bad this game engine is - it just can't load terrain fast enough, and it can't smoothly blend in objects as they spawn into view either, it just pixelates them into existence instead, which looks *horrible*. Especially when this isn't happening "in the distance", but literally right in front of you.

But the poor struggling engine also compromised the gameplay by forcing poor decisions. Your ship flies slowly and steers with the agility of a stoned cow. Both are obviously necessary sacrifices that were made because flying and turning with more agility would put even more strain on the already struggling terrain loading code.

BTW, you can't even land your ship where you want manually, instead the game auto-lands it for you, with about as much success as a stoned cow trying to cr*p in a bucket. I've tried landing on a point of interest and ended up as much as 2 minutes walking away from it!

But it's an RNG thing, sometimes the cow hits the bucket by pure chance. I even managed to land on a landing pad once!

Strange the game didn't give me an Achievement for that, it certainly felt more like an achievement than walking 5000 steps (which the game considers achievement-worthy!).

This review is already more than long enough, so I won't even go into details on why the game sucks as a game. Read other negative reviews for that, there's plenty of them...

Ok. This was one of the most hyped videogame of 2016 but it does not run with 30 fps. I got FX-4300 and rx 480 8gb vram, 8gb ram. I have updated drivers but it crash on warp and have poor performance.

A complete scam. NMS has become a textbook exemple on how not to market a video game.

Boredom simulator 2016. I don't know what's more fun, playing this game, or grinding my face on asphalt. Probably the latter. I've never seen such horrible texture pop-in in my entire life.

    Disappointing, repetitive and boring gameplay.
    Missing features.
    Lies, lies and blatant lies.
    Overpriced.
    Garbage.
Game developers must be held to account for false advertising and blatant lies.

    No multiplayer (devs lied)
    No gameplay
No exploration. Planets are all the same on the whole galaxy
no story no point, just an alpha of some bad survival game

when you overhype and lie during itw showing fake trailer, dont expect something good. this game is worth 15 dollars at max, you can have way more fun for that amount with a game like minecraft or CS GO

The game is litterally broken. Even with the minimum graphics in a GTX970, its broken. It crashes, there are very big performance drops. I asked for a refund.

    - Hermosos colores y algunas buenas posibilidades
    - Poner nombres a las nuevas especies animales y vegetales
    - Viajar

The game is not so bad as people say, the problem is the expectations were much higher than the truth we have now received. If there wasn't been so much hype this game would have had an amazing reception. Even if it gets a bit boring I am enjoying this game so it deserves a high mark. The reason it doesn't get max. grade is that the performance in pc is awful even with a good pc. I would not say it's a complete disapointment but I was expecting a different take on Elite Dangerous or Starcitizen, i was expecting a game where you have freedom and variety with a rich environement. With quests and stuff...

I ended with a mining game that is relaxing and fun but super repetitive with lack of true content. Even the graphics are so last gen! But the colors are amazing.

I still enjoy it and i don't see the hours i spend on it, so for this reason, i give a score of 6.
Consider the game when is going at discount price.

I spent a surprising amount of time with the game, mostly mining Gold and selling it ASAP

This is a horrible broken and unfinished game. It doesn't run well on advanced hardware with up to date drivers. It has frame rate issues and hitches and frequent crashes. It's a game that charges you $60 for this pleasure when the content is surpassed by games costing $10-$20. And those games run well.

The developers have also not been forthcoming about the many "changes" that have occurred since their trailer made 2 years ago. Many, many features have been cut and you are left with a very dull game. Also, the dev originally promised no paid DLC. Well, he changed his mind. Now that could happen even though they haven't been able to fulfill their orginal pitch. $60 for an unfinished game lacking many promised features and they want more? No thanks. Get your refund if you can. Because these developers are after your cash after selling you lies and an unfinished product.

Thank you steam for my refund and not letting me give my money to such dishonest people.

No Man's Sky breaks the record in falling short of the hype – which is an incredible achievement in the category of super ambitious space games. The huge universe is a repetitive, lifeless and meaningless place, no amount of random generated creatures can change that. The most unforgivable fail is making the spaceship such a pain to fly, which makes exploring the vast universe simply a chore. However, at its best the game is epic and many of the issues should be easy to fix, so this might not be the end of the journey after all. [Sept 2016]

While some poorly designed systems and mechanics chip away at your patience, the feeling of flying seamlessly from space down to a peninsula you spotted from orbit never fails to enthrall. [Nov 2016, p.106]
