    Very good game, bought it recently in the summer sale 2020 and i have to say i lit felt in love with it.
    Plenty of stuff to do, the "map" is so big that it would actually take more than your entire lifetime to see everything. I like games where i can complete things and advance with persistence in my gameplay.     I play this game in 2020. Over 130 hour and is never annoying. Is a Masterpiece. Beautiful planet, many ships, and most important a beautiful community. The people in reddit and in the Nexus are friendly.

    I didn't play at launch, but I'm playing now and having a ton of fun. I'm glad they fixed the game and showed care for it. The game makes every discovery feel new and amazing. My only gripe is that the tutorial is pretty long and tedious.

    This game has improved so much since it's release. Honestly, there is so much to do and explore and they keep updating it. The game is so much more than it was in 2016, and will only expand with time!

    Ce jeu me passionne, je ne comprend pas en quoi ce jeu est mauvais sérieux, les graphismes sont très bon, les personnages, la personnalisation, les planètes, L'Histoire. J'aime ce jeu et je rêve encore du jour ou je le lancerai en coop car avec toutes les nouvelles mise à jour le jeu deviens beaucoup plus plaisant et beaucoup plus immersif et me fera rêver encore longtemps !!!!     Love this game it keeps on giving and i cant get mad at it. When i start playing i just cant stop for days :D. Still finding cool places, planets etc... love it :)

    No Man's Sky is definitely one of my favourite games ever made because of the large open world, many things to do and also the constant updates. Hello games may have launched a broken lacklustre game, however, now it is more than it was expected to be.

    One of the best game ever created. It had the worst start ever in gaming history and it now is a real masterpiece you can spend hours on. I don't usually like survival games but this one is amazing.

    Great game, maybe the launch was awful but since then they pretty much drop a new big update all 2 months and the game feels like a massive, alive world and yes every planet is unique!     Guessing most of these reviews are either fake or from the cery beginning. This has turned into one of the greatest games of all time and the devs keep giving us more FREE content. We need more devs like them!

    The game runs really well now, it offers regular updates, has a nice story but gives the freedom it promised. The galaxy is massive and you can't discover everything in your life! I'm really impressed and love the game and it so much fun discovering planets which always look different and are not repetitive.

    A very underrated game. Many may claim it gets boring by a few hours but it really isn't. Personally, I have a very low attention span and I do not like grinding or exploring games that much. I have about 30 hours and it was so fun. At maybe 5 -10 hours of playing, I decided to leave the lore/story part of the game and played and had a goal of trying to get an Earth-like planet. Instead of focusing on making money first, they focus their efforts on the fun of the game knowing that if they do their job and make a fun game, that the    BEST GAME STUDIO....EVER!

    In today's modern world of Greedy Game Goons, Hello Games has chosen to go the route of making a fun game with constant updates multiple times a year, instead of cash grabbing like every other studio does.

    Instead of focusing on making money first, they focus their efforts on the fun of the game knowing that if they do their job and make a fun game, that the positive press will generate sales and therefore continued income.

    GRAPHICS
    For a game released in 2016, the graphics hold up in the modern era whether it be the avatars outfit, a lush planet or your favorite spaceship. The art style of the game also matures with each update moving a bit away from the tron aesthetic seen early on in game to a more "realistic" sci-fi aesthetic.

    CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION
    No Man's Sky allows for some reasonable character customization with a handful (not a ton) of outfits to collect and "heads" to choose from. The game does not have the depth of character customization found in some RPG's, but it works for the game. I would personally like to see character heads/faces created with facial customization and a swath of outfits to appeal to the role player. I also wish we could have custom avatar names for alts. I also wish we could have a character load screen with an alt character selector. Something you might see in WOW, ESO, New World, or any MMORPG. While No Man's Sky is not an MMO in the truest sense, it would be nice to have some of those RPG elements to give a greater appeal and connection to the avatar.

    GAMEPLAY
    The game offers a myriad of playing styles from base building, exploring, ship combat, on foot combat, collecting items or achievements. Hardcore FPS players may not get their itches scratched, but chill players, base building/home making players and players who like to explore till their hearts content will be greatly satisfied.

    MONETIZATION
    I kind of already covered this. But Hello Games only requires a box copy purchase of the game. At retail its a heck of a deal, on sale its a steal. You can get hundreds to thousands of hours of enjoyment and fun for the price of lunch for two or a dinner for 4. Hello Games has not charged a single penny for any update since 2016. I think the game has 27 updates now. That is a lot of content to create and share with the community for no additional cost.

    In a world where an outfit in game can cost you $15.00, a mount can run $30.00, a house can easily hit $140.00 its refreshing to have a game studio like Hello games not always having their hand in the player pocket. They truly respect their customer base, can't say that about too many studios.

    MULTIPLAYER
    Multiplayer is the weakest link in No Man's Sky. I play with my Lady most of the time and while we are able to group, work on each others homes (if you allow in your settings), and run quest together, sometimes the quest bug out and one of us can not complete it. We will have to drop group and do the quest again. This can get a bit annoying. But when you consider that Hello Games does not charge for a monthly service to update/maintain the server farm size necessary for MMORPG's to run and that the game overall is a sandbox, these shortcomings are easier to understand.

    CONCLUSION
    If you crave flying a spaceship around on a planet, getting out of the ship and exploring, making a base, hanging out with friends/loves ones in game, engaging in an interesting story and a simple combat engagement (well, you can set your game settings much harder to make combat challenging if you like) then No Man's Sky is a great game. If you desire hard core pvp, this is probably not the best place to spend your money although there are PVP communities (you can turn PVP on in your settings), i have never engaged in it to know how good/bad it is.

    I give No Man's Sky 10/10

    I'd like better combat and melee and ship interiors, but those caveats aside i really enjoy this game. I hope you can as well :)    … Expand

Rather than taking the Bethesda strategy of mapping buttons to the VR controller, No Man's Sky opts for Star Trek style gesture controls. You access your tools and inventory with contextual holograms on your exosuit's wrists. You fly your ship by grabbing its throttle with one hand and flight stick with the other. It all feels organic and *real* in a way that Skyrim and Fallout VR don't. The only reason I don't give this game a 10 is that the story is very utilitarian in nature. It's primary purpose is to walk you through the staggering number of game mechanics in a pace that isn't overwhelming. And it's enough. You won't be riding an emotional rollercoaster, but that okay because the game is focusing on what it does best. For my money, this is the best exploration game on the market, period, and far and away the best VR game.… Expand

    This game is very good, people are writing bad reviews because of the problem it had at launch on PC, but I had the same problem and with the beta patch they have already fixed most of the errors, after a couple of days I was able to play the game, and I can tell you that this game is fantastic. If you like to explore new worlds and discovery new wildlife, this is the game for you.     The ultra negative reviews are frankly, shameful, this is one of the best sci-fi space trading games to come out in a very long time indeed. Those giving the game less than a 7, have either no idea how to play this kind of game. Or worse are doing so because they get off on libel. I suspect its a bit of both. Don't listen to the hate filled rubbish on steam and meta-lie. This is a Gem of a game.

    I'll be first to admit, this game is not for everyone. But, I Love it.
    I love the variation between planets. I love the random events popping up. The alien NPC's and stories slowly unfolding and different races. This game makes me feel like an explorer unlike any other game I have ever had.

    This game is about exploration and making up your own style of play. It has many survival elements and has very little hand holding, so it's easy to get yourself in a bind.     Silence from the devs over the last month since launch tells you everything you need to know about No Man's Sky, Hello Games as a studio, and Sean Murray as a person.

    Avoid anything they put out at all costs, they simply do not deserve your money.

    But NMS... Already played 30 hours and want to continue. Really like this game.

    This game is for real Sci-Fi true fans.

    Don't go in to NMS expecting a combat experience of the like of Elite because that's not what the game is. NMS is a sandbox game where you make your story.

    I'm running the game on a PC with GPU about 50% under spec, and it's still playable. I like the game, a great variety of worlds to explore and animals to discover. It's not perfect, but it is extremely innovative and we should encourage and support it.

    If you like a free-form, sandbox, exploration, trading, combat space sim that's not complicated like for Example elite dangerous (which I also have and like for different reasons) and like a casual romp around space, then this is the game for you.     I stopped pre-ordering games, and I consciously chose to purchase this game despite the negative reviews, and in spite of my skepticism about the game's ambitiousness. It was a good choice.

    I honestly enjoy exploring planets, mining stuff for money, exploring caves. I've used grenades to entrench myself to survive extreme planet conditions.     Space combat is more fun, and faster paced, than it was in elite dangerous.

    Downsides are that the game is somewhat dumbed down to be 'easier' in some regards, landing/flying the ship makes it feel like it is on a rail, when you're trying to fly low. Trading is not really very useful since quantities when buying are low and prices unpredictable. It is exceedingly difficult to fly back to a place you've been before. And the UI could use work to become better. Also, the optimization may require manual tweaks to be good. When I discovered that I can name planets, animals, galaxies and so on, I started naming everything after my dad or, "is he here?" "Planet Dad" and so on. In a sense, my trip through the galaxy becomes an epic journey to connect with my father on some level, even though I can't. In my mind, he is literally one planet or galaxy ahead of me, and since the game is "endless" I can continue to mourn and play.

    Besides this unforeseen positive effect, the game is marvelous. You can't die (well, you can, but it's highly unlikely), the music is a delight and it runs like a polished game should (even though it has many rough edges). Besides, when was the last time you took a moment to relax and just stare into the distance once you've ascended a giant mountain. No game has kept me this captivated and content.

    Atlas Rises is a step in the right direction. I'm waiting for a lot more fun. It is worth to improve the graphics, because sometimes the game looks like it lacked in the Helo team somebody with graphic tastes. Thanks to the moderators who grind this cool idea.

    Vastly improved with Next, almost a completely new game. I had to re-learn the game after 15 hours of traditional gameplay. I also didn't lose my old base gear or ships. Very few and small bugs, I never crashed.

    Such a shame that this game is still haunted by it's release, even though they have updated it to a very enjoyable state. Not perfect by any means, but a really good game you can get lost in, definitely recommend!

    I've had ALMOST zero issues with this game. One time I did get some slowdown but after exiting out and restarting, no problems. This is a great game with a lot of future potential and I can't wait to see where it goes.

    I've had no issues loading or playing. Update all drivers before hand and have been enjoying the game immensely. Exactly as promised, explore,survive,trade. Worth the price and the time.

    The game goes pretty well with my hardware, I don't really have complains, it's a solid 8.5 for me, if the hiden story is surprising or maybe philosophic it's probably a 9.

    Guys, seriously, learn how to configure the graphic settings on a game, you can do it in-game or with the software that your GPU provides you... It's really easy

    Whilst it is not by any means perfect and I could make a huge wish-list of how it might be improved upon, the game offers wonderfully immersive worlds with a hugely atmospheric soundtrack. The game has that same vibe that LucasArts The Dig provided many years ago and combines it with the sense of isolation and exploratory gameplay that Subnautica creates. Not a day goes by where I don't reach for the screenshot button to capture a new landscape, the fall of the light, etc. Running around the planets it is easy to forget that there is an algorithm creating them and that sense of exploration is where the game is sublime.

    Where it falls down is in space travel and in the meetings with alien beings. This all feels 3rd rate and bolted on to the core element of planetary explanation. There is much that could be added to the games benefit, starting with some decent mapping, both on planets and in space.

    Nevertheless, the game constitutes a massive achievement that will influence game design hereafter. Anything less than infinity is going to feel very claustrophobic from now on. Get out of your spaceships and see what is over the horizon, there is a very good chance that your journey will be exhilarating.

    For those moaning about the price, it is worth remembering that before you were born I was paying £40/$60 for Atari VCS2600 cartridges; you should be jumping with joy at the comparative value this game represents. Nobody forces you to buy this or anything else.

    So, if you want a space simulator, buy Elite or Star Citizen, if you want a space shooter give planetside a try. If you want the joy of exploration combined with the sense of isolation in 2001, A Space Odyssey, then No Man's Sky is for you.    … Expand

From a medium overly saturated with shoot em' ups and developers who obviously really wanted to make a movies, and developers that treat its consumers as incompetent children who need their hand held at all times, I am over joyed to see a game like this release. YES, its missing content, YES, features got cut. that's just what happens in most forms of entertainment. for example movies will shoot these big expensive scenes that may not make the final cut. things like this happen all the time. Sean is the head programmer for the game, this is his baby. He doesn't want for people to be disappointed and angry. He is a much more genuine guy then people seem to give him credit for.

    Is Sean deserving of death threats and hate over this? absolutely not. I 100% believe that when he told interviewers and also us as consumers that there would be X feature and Y feature, HE MEANT IT. He is not some evil man maniacally laughing with a wad of cash from his "lies".

    All in all i personally enjoy the game and have put more than 50 hours into it so far. [planning on playing some more even tonight :)] Although I can also see why people would be upset and angry because the game may not have lived up to their expectations, and how could it? The things some people were expecting just aren't what this game is about. Sean made it very clear in the interviews closer to release on what the game was and wasn't.     Beware of old reviews, it not even the same game. It has been well supported; there have been many fixes, improvements and free dlc was added to this game. If you want to explore and build in an open universe this is the game for you. If you want Metroid in space, move on. But in the end this has turned out to be the game that was advertised, just took a year to get there.

    The game now is in a phenomenal state, best it has ever been..

However, Hello Games have been pouring their heart and soul in to their creation and the game has benefitted greatly, along with it's player base. The game of then is a shadow of the game it is now.

    With the release of their content update 'Expeditions' there is a reminder of just how far the game has come. Starting a new expedition, with basically nothing, you play back through all of the content again, fulfilling missions and reaching checkpoints. Even then, not everything that has been added to the game is included in the 'Expedition'.

    Their latest update, as of writing this, is Prisms. It has added a graphical upgrade to the game to make better use of ray-tracing technology and the game just 'pops' now. I just wish I had a better rig to make full use of it all, but even with my old GTX it still looks very nice.

    Hello Games has promised there is still much more to come this year. We've had three 'DLC' updates already and we're only 6 months in! So I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.

    ALL of this content, all 17 DLCs, have been added for free. There is no paid DLC model, as there is with most other games these days, everything they have added has been gratis. And these updates are not simply adding a couple of things here and there, these are updates that most other publishers would proudly package as a separate DLC and make you pay for!

    The upshot is that I am so glad that I decided not to listen to the negative reviews and made the purchase when I did. I have had a front-row seat to the evolvement of a game that has come a long way and is destined to be so much more.

    The game became many updates and today (21.11.2020) the game is a other experience as 2016.
    You can build bases, build your own freighter, buy weapons, craft items and much more...

Nowadays, it's a hella fun and interesting romp through space, exploring different planets, collecting resources, chilling out. It's like a 3D Starbound, really. Plenty of different ways to play the game, whether it's trade running, farming, hunting, questing, exploring, whatever really.

    If I had to suggest features for a potential sequel: take some pages from Spore. Add the ability for players to make custom plants and animals and minerals and share them online for other people to discover. That would prevent biome-specific plants from starting to look repetitive, and further encourage exploring to see new, weird sights. Extra customization options for players along the lines of Skyrim would also let players really feel like their character is THEIR character. Adjustable proportion sliders and what-not would be very nice. No Man's Sky is a game that begs for a lot of assets, I think, even more than are already in the game, and I feel like having player-designed props would take the game that one step further.

    Also let people scrap multi-tools.

    9/10, I'd probably normally only give 8 or so, but I have so much respect for the devs working so hard to correct their mistakes in an industry that would normally just push the game to the side and pretend it never existed.    … Expand

    In 2016 this game was a huge pile of poop. Today it's totally different, a lot of stuff was improved and they are gonna add new things. If you hated this game at launch, trust me, you're now gonna like it!

    Buen juego, entretenido y muy enviciante, y para mandarle muchisimas horas viajando de mundo en mundo. Tiene varios universos y planetas pero al final no salen tanto de sus propios ejes. Con esto y todo el juego nos llega a entretener y mantener pegados a la pantalla bastantes horas

    INTRO: I purchased No Man's Sky a little over a week ago, so I missed all the launch drama(though I am aware NMS had a rough launch). I started playing on v3.91 Leviathan. I've been gaming for over 20 years, and enjoy games from all genres.

    SUMMARY(9/10): No Man's Sky(NMS) is the most fun I've had playing a video game in several years. I do see a few areas where it could be refined and improved, but for the most part, it's just a joy to play. And with the developer's apparent commitment to "finishing" the development, so to speak, I'm confident in saying that NMS will be on the future's lists of definitive games of this era.

    CORE GAMEPLAY(10/10): At it's core, NMS is about exploration and adventure, and the scope of available content to explore is absolutely staggering. Means of transport include walking, limited flight(via Jetpack), using any of several terrestrial vehicles(including one walking armor suit, and one aquatic vehicle), Starship in-atmosphere flight, Starship interplanetary flight, and finally interstellar flight via either Starship or Freighters(there's also a fast travel system involving portals). Transitions between these different modes is masterfully executed, and nearly seamless(though those on slower PCs may notice some a tiny bit of latency in various transitions).

    VISUALS(10/10): I put "visuals" here instead of "graphics" to make my intent clear: I'm including all visual effects depicted in the game under this section. I don't consider high resolution textures to be the end-all of visual presentation in video games. While, to the reader, this may seem like me "cheating" to give NMS a higher review score, I'd urge said reader to take a look at #virtualphotography of #NMS hashtags, on Twitter and elsewhere. While it's certainly true that not every location and planet in NMS is picturesque, the medium results in many truly beautiful vistas in spite of it's limitations. After all, they are effectively rendering entire star systems seamlessly, in a Universe of over 250 Galaxies. There are some obvious problems with level of detail that may very well be unsolvable with the current level of consumer hardware. I feel that this is completely forgivable. Keep in mind, NMS manages to achieve this feat with a meagre 12 GB install base.

    SOUND/MUSIC(8/10): I've removed two marks here, one each for sound and music. On the subject of sound, I don't feel like there's anything missing, but I can't give a perfect score on a video game review unless there's something truly outstanding. On the subject of music, NMS similarly doesn't do anything that truly amazes me. The game has an embedded music player, but being that I'm not a music lover, I haven't explored it's capabilities in full.

    COMBAT(9/10): Combat in NMS is simplified. As the game's focus is exploration and adventure, I can't fault them for this at all, but as stated before, since they're not doing anything particularly amazing in this category, I've removed a mark here. NMS includes aerial/space combat(these manifest as being nearly indistinguishable from each other), vehicular combat, and first person shooter combat mechanics. The bottom line is that you can still be killed by hostile entities, both in space and on a planetary surface, but that winning most battles will not be a challenge for more experienced players. This does include some variety of weapons, but none of them are particularly exceptional at changing the way the player approaches combat.

    ADDITIONAL CONTENT(9/10): There's a massive chunk of additional content that is peripheral to the core gameplay. There's NPC settlement development/management, Freighter fleet management, economic management(running trade supplies), player base building, farming, animal husbandry, single- and multi-player mission types, mining, crafting, cataloguing the game world(you can name just about everything you discover, including stars, planets, moons, plants, animals, and minerals), and a whole separate seasonal game mode with special rules called "Expeditions". There's a ton of room for expanded content in this regard, and it seems the developer is still intent to do so. The player can also edit terrain at will during live gameplay, which includes leveling terrain, creating terrain, tunnelling/destroying terrain, restoring terrain, and in some cases even using the "Terrain Manipulator" to mine resource deposits.    … Expand

    This game has come a very long way since its 'disappointing' launch. Sean Murray and his team have time and again churned out new content and each new iteration of the game leaves me impressed.

    No Man's Sky breaks the record in falling short of the hype – which is an incredible achievement in the category of super ambitious space games. The huge universe is a repetitive, lifeless and meaningless place, no amount of random generated creatures can change that. The most unforgivable fail is making the spaceship such a pain to fly, which makes exploring the vast universe simply a chore. However, at its best the game is epic and many of the issues should be easy to fix, so this might not be the end of the journey after all. [Sept 2016]
