Lets get the elephant in the room out the way. YES FACES ARE BAD.

Now that's done, this game is absolutely brilliant! I have been playing ME:A for a fair few days and wow, some people can be really really butthurt about nothing. This is a Mass Effect game at its very finest. Characters are likable and yes I do care for these guys! Story is great and yeah its brill!

    I am a happy gamer!

Any game that is more focused on pushing a social/political agenda than entertaining it's players is going to be terrible. ME:A does exactly that. The romance options are destroyed by being romanceable by anyone rather than having particular same sex romance options that are properly written and real seeming. The overall character arc is weak, juvenile and uninteresting as are the storylines.

Do not waste your money on this one, wait for it to be an "on the house" title from origin and save yourself the refund request headaches. Hopefully by then the game will have been patched to completion.

It's disheartening to say everyone who has maybe not even played it at all not giving it a chance. It's a truly great game, not quite like the OT but topping the OT would have been close to impossible.

The exploration is incredible fun, the combat is at its best it has ever been and the overall gameplay feels just right. It comes close to an open world game with actually interesting sidequests and not just repetitive "go there, do that".

Sadly there are some aspects that fell short. Do I even need to talk about the animations? This game had 5 years of development time and they can't get them right?
The characters don't grow to you as much as in the OT, some still shine though (Peebee and Drack are adorable).

There's less emphasizing on the story, it's not bad but Mass Effect is now more about gameplay than story. Not necessarily a bad thing but unusual. A good mix would have been great.

Still, the sheer amount of hate this game is getting is just undeserved as people are now holding off from buying it just because of the animations. If you actually play the game, it's huge. There's so much more that lets you forget about its flaws at most times.

The worlds are gorgeous and fun to explore because of the Nomad which has surprisingly amazing driving physics! (Never thought that would happen with Mako 2.0)

I would recommend this game to anyone. You can still refund it. Trust me, it's worth it.

It is huge and beautiful, with countless options.
If you liked ME1, you will probably love this game. If you new to the universe go in it without bias, even if this ridiculous 0 points reviews makes that hard for some. Zero and one points reviews are simply ridiculous if it comes to this game, have no doupt about that. I respect people who give 4, 5 or 6 points because the game is not as they wanted or expected it to be, but 0 or 1 points clearly show that there is a bias that leads to such a score in the first place.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the perfect example of why we can't get Half-Life 3.
This game was hyped so much that people expected it to be absolutely perfect in every way, as per their own description of what "perfection" is.
People say they care about the Mass Effect franchise but they don't. They'd rather talk about SJW or make memes out of facial expressions. All I'm going to say is:

All I'm going to say is: Stop comparing Ryder and his/her companions to Sheppard and his/her companions.

If you intend on playing Mass Effect: Andromeda, forget about Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 or you'll feel nostalgic about characters you spent countless hours with. Give Ryder and his/her crew the time to grow on you, like you did for the Sheppard in the original Mass Effect Trilogy. Comparing the most legendary character in the Mass Effect franchise to a character that barely woke up from cryo is more than unfair, it's insulting.

I have 96 hours in the game so far and I haven't finished the story yet. From the look of it, am far from finishing it too. I've had fun all the way through and plan on continuing having fun with the game and most likely will play it again, multiple time.
96 hours of fun and counting. For a 60$ game.

I would have given it 10 / 10 if it wasn't for the animation issue and some of the weird dialogs and stuff that happen in the story, such as the Angara race magically being able to talk the Milky Way language without any explanation on how they accomplished that feat.

Creating a new addition to one of the most beloved game franchises of all time is no easy task. How do you placate die hard fans while still creating a game that invites new and more casual players? It was clear from the beginning of my time with Andromeda that Bioware was attempting to create an amalgamation of gameplay features and mechanics that have been known to work in the past; and I can happily tell you that it comes together well. It was also fairly obvious that Bioware took some pages out of Dragon Age: Inqusition. Both use the same engine, and as we know Inquisition was graphically gorgeous; Andromeda with it's wider range of color palates, effects, and large variance in environment type comes out even more so. The feel of Andromeda in terms of character handling is almost identical Inqusition. Control isn't snappy by any means, but has a flow and a feel that is much more realistic and rewarding that a robotic playable character. Combat for Andromeda is extremely rewarding. The enemy types are not very expansive, however the ways in which combat can occur will vary greatly. It forces the play to be aware of their entire surroundings, not just what is directly in front of them. Numerous times I was focus on a shielded or armored enemy in front of my, just to find that another enemy had managed to sneak his way behind me and was shooting me in the back. Also, the addition of jump jets and climbing/vaulting makes combat much more dimensional and not just for the player. Enemies jump up and down from platforms, constantly changing their positions against you, and the AI does a smart job of making enemy movement feel organic. Of all the things that Andromeda improves on from the original trilogy, the combat is the biggest. Bioware has also done a great job of making Andromeda a deeper RPG experience than the original trilogy. Players are no longer locked into a specific set of skills, abilities, and weapons based on class type. The possibilities for different character build types are massively expansive, and the wide range of weapons, armor, and modifications allows the player to tailor their character to an even greater level of specificity. To this effect, Bioware does some really smart things with how armor, modifications, and attachments can effect gameplay. For example, a pistol barrel attachment that increases weapon damage, but also decreases the clip size for the weapon, or an armor mod that increases shield capacity by 50% but lowers overall health by 50%. This type of stat modification really forces that player to make smart decisions on how they develop their character, and makes the choice of equipment a deeper endeavor than just what looks cool or does the most damage.

As a Mass Effect game, story is extremely important. I think it's important to recognize that Bioware was in a tough position when trying to create a story for Andromeda. To remain canonical, Andromeda had to let go of a lot of details from the original trilogy, which can be frustrating for die hard Mass Effect fans. Also, creating a protagonist threat on the scale of the Reapers in which the player arrives in a new galaxy that is unaware of the players existence is a tough thing to pull off. Overall, the story for Andromeda falls short of the original trilogy. It's not a bad story by any means, but it's hard to avoid the comparison between the level of writing between the original trilogy and that of Andromeda. I for one am hope that the series will continue and Bioware will have a chance to appeal more to die hard fans with a story more on par with the original trilogy, and possible even with a bit of canonical overlap.

Outside of the the story, the only other complaint is the quality of the animations. As most of you reading this are probably aware, Andromeda has some serious problems with character animations. The root cause of this is hard to determine, however it's obvious that Bioware made some major slip ups in regards to facial animations. I should clarify that for the most part the animations are on point. Not perfect by any means, but most of the time are perfectly acceptable for a large budget AAA game. I have also noticed that the facial animations seems to get better as the game goes along with only a few strange hiccups later in the game, however none of this effects gameplay in any way.

In my opinion, Andromeda makes a great addition to the Mass Effect franchise. With a few fixes of some minor issues, the game could garner an even greater response. It's a must play for any Mass Effect fan, or any sci-fi RPG fan in general. Bioware has demonstrated their ability to create amazing worlds that players continue to crave. I look forward to more from Mass Effect in the future and hope that this is not the last offering from the series for years to come.

This game, however, has serious flaws, right from the beginning. First, the animations on faces are just not believable. They seem to have taken a step backwards, even if the facial textures were excellent. The character creation process was stilted and difficult to understand - it took a while to figure out how to use a different default custom designed face. The voice over for Scott is just not up to the standards we've grown accustomed to.

The decision to set the Initiative's departure date before Shepard's heroics in the rest of the series destroyed most chances for connections to the other games. The links to Liara - the young, naive Liara, not the hard nosed Shadow Broker that we all came to love - felt contrived. The relative lack of ties and easter eggs to the first games, in and of itself, was a major let down. In a series where the story is so key, this story has so many plot holes that go unexplained that it's hard to accept it at face value. Ryder makes first contact with an alien species that suddenly speaks English without a single explanation in game as to how he can understand them or they can understand him? Seriously? How many first contact scenarios have sci-fi fans seen over the years, from Star Trek to every aliens-visit-earth movie? This killed whatever suspension of disbelief I had and magnified the other deficiencies in the game for me.

It's not all bad. What keeps the game out of the 1 or 2 score area is combat - this is as good as it has been in any of the games. It was nice to get a rover back, ala Mass Effect 1, although the mining/scanning device could use some work. It's just not that intuitive or fun.

Overall, the game just didn't live up to my expectations, which were high - but that was because all of the other games in the series delivered. I'm still going to play the game and will probably finish it just to say that I did, but I don't feel the burning desire to complete the story, nor do I feel the same personal bond with these characters that I did with Garrus, Liara, Shephard and others in the first trilogy.

This was a disappointing game that didn't live up to my expectations.

    - Animations aren't up to scratch (think everyone knows this by now. Personally haven't run into to many of these issues). Playing on Ps4.

    - The new dialogue system is adequate but doesn't quite live up to paragon/renegade. E.I, less opportunities to chances to interrupt people with RT/LT. Ryder seems to just always be paragon, Dialogue doesn't give much leeway for 'renegade' decisions.

    - Dialogue is a bit ropey but I seemed to get use to it.

    - Romances/relationships are **** (Due once in part to the writing methinks).

    - Multiplayer micro-transactions are an irritant, but don't seem to infringe to much. You usually only have to play one or two games to get higher level crates. (Things where you get weapons/characters etc).

Overall I would recommend the latest Mass Effect. While not on par with the previous trilogy its quite fun and does have good qualities. But yeah, I think anything below a 5 is slightly unreasonable.

You think fallout was bad? Try Andromeda. Even Sims 1 has better body language and face morphing than this 40 million dollar title developed over 5 years. Is this what 40 million dollar makes?

Too bad it's too late for me to get a refund I thought yeah it is no big deal it's just the face but the level of bad really puts you OUT OF TOUCH with the immersion, it's like when you have a bad glitch that deforms your character and you can't turn your head away from it.

So frustrating to get stuck because of object interactions not working properly. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. wow, congratulations ea/bioware, this is the first game I have ever returned and Ive had games never left the box. I love RPGs and have bought every deluxe /special edition of anything bioware put out (regetting a few of those purchases like DA:I DA:A). Not sure if its a spoiler but seriously when I play RPGs I dont expect to be transformed into a barely out of puberty kid. At first I thought I downloaded the wrong thing :( I tried to model my character with my looks - somehow the fair skinned option is missing and my toon looked like someone from the middle east (this was with the lightest skin tone). After meeting the companions you have a very quick idea of who the romantic interests will be....total turnoff for me personally. So basically you have a game that has horrid models, very very bad writing, and a college age school toon who is supposed to be a hero. I'm all for diversity, and gender equality with females and males, but it is supposed to be a RGP which means in theory you want to play and romance someone who looks better than you do in real life :D

Lucky I am in the EU so I used that great game guarantee to get a refund after 5 hours, but that was the last straw from me. I instead bought skyrim, never moved from bioware but after this disaster never again.

Its like a disney version of ME. I get that EA wants a younger audience, which is fine, but I think after this many mature gamers will be ditching this.

The story by extension of this tripe and predictable. Then there's the host of glitches that would make even Todd Howard shake his head in disgust. Though I will give credit where credit is due, the out of place combat is showing of some potential.
Ever play a cover based shooter like Gears of War? That's not too different from what this is. It's not exactly terrible and could likely be made fun if the enemies weren't all bullet sponges who take an entire clip to the face. The entire game just reeks of laziness and with a five year development time and 40 million dollar budget, there's just no excuse.
As a quick warning - Be wary of the people who give this game tens, as I can promise you they are only doing so out of their love of the franchise and little else. You've probably seen the countless articles talking about the terrible facial animations but they're only the tip of the iceberg. Throughout 9 hours of playtime I had the game crash twice, countless graphical glitches (bizarre model clipping, models snapping to T-positions etc.) and sporadic framerate drops (from around 100 fps to 20 for several seconds).
Gameplay-wise, I will admit that the combat feels more fluid than the previous games, but who the **** plays Bioware games for the combat? Every side mission was a massively boring side quest. The dialogue options are completely pointless as every decision is essentially the same thing but worded differently. Some of the voice acting was VERY questionable and none of the voice actors seemed like actual professionals. The characters were very difficult to empathise with, largely due to the fact that their facial expressions never match the tone of what they are saying. I haven't tried out the multiplayer yet because I was intending to play with my friends, but none of them are willing to buy the game and I honestly can't blame them.

As someone who has 300 hours on Mass Effect 2 alone, I don't see anything that I liked in the original trilogy in this game. It all just seems like a cheap cash-in on the Mass Effect name.

Combat is fluid and fun. Massive improvement over the trilogy.

Game just needs more focus in the right places and some kinks to get ironed out. It'll never live up to the originals, but it does feel somewhat rushed and sloppy and needs more time to be fixed. Here's to hoping Andromeda 2 learns from the mistakes this game made.

Others have already pointed out the visual, game play, and bug problems so I'm not going to rehash those. What I'd like to say though is I'm tired of the social justice themes in bioware games. If I'm in the minority in this then fine, keep doing it. But I'm officially done with bioware games. I know I know... don't let the door hit me on the as... behind on my way out.

Extremely disappointed in this game. What is with all the social agendas? Keep politics out of the game please. This ruined the Mass Effect games series. Fount this game very boring and repetitive. The developer is just looking for more money here so he can go on my whitey bashing twitter rants instead of putting time into good gameplay programming. Never again.

Gameplay is subpar and filled with meaningless activities, any resemblance of rpg is gone now, NPCs is ugly, lifeless and boring, UI wasn't designed for humans and that character creation....what were they thinking. Story and companions, THE most important part of previous Mass Effect games is "meh" at best.
The only rays of light is beautiful landscapes and combat, it's best in the series, the only downside is that you can't control your companions like in previous games.
I think the only redeeming part of this game will be Multiplayer. I know it's a horde-mode but it's a damn good one with decent progression system.
So, don't believe all those 10/10 or 0/10 reviews - they lie. But the truth is it's a mediocre, overhyped and buggy game but you can still get some legit fun in multiplayer.

I asked for a refund after playing like 3 or 4 hours because the immersion was constantly broken by something.

Here is a quick list :
    - Ugly characters and facial expressions (one of your team members seems to be constantly smiling, even when announcing the death of someone, everybody's eyes seem to be popping out)
    - Everyone seems to be black, there's no way to have a white or asian skin for your character
    - The character creator itself seems outdated and almost have less options than Dragon Age 2
    - Important dialogues permanently cancelled by NPCs you pass by
    - A lot of dialogues seem to have been written by angry teenagers
    - Broken animations (I spoke to NPC's in T-Pose)
    - Rain falls on characters face, not helmet
    - The UI lacks polish and has unexpected behaviors (scrolls not draggable or that reset the scrolling to the top, very simplistic buttons design, almost ugly sometimes)
    - You can unlock a lot of powers in each spec, but can only have 3 active at once (sure you can switch between 4 loadouts but then again that's just shortcuts for shortcuts, let us at least have 6 powers active at the same time, that's a minimum)
    - Overall menu navigation is tedious, especially the quest tracking (very irritating)

All those things totally broke my experience and as a result I didn't feel in a Mass Effect game, I felt in a broken imitation and I'm upset because I've been waiting for this game for a very long time and I absolutely adore the series.

I might buy it again one day if there are patches, but for me as of march 26th 2017, that's not a Mass Effect.

Also : I pre-ordered, I shouldn't have, nobody should EVER (except for limited editions and such), so that EA doesn't start thinking "oh ok they'll throw money at us even if the game is unfinished, ship it guys!"

But the two things that disappoint me are the plot - or lack of it, and the dumbing down. Don't bother bringing your brain to this ME party - you won't be needing it.
All the basic good stuff from ME is there, and some improvements. And yeah, I probably will play it to the bitter end, but no, I won't be pre-ordering ME 5 if there is one.
The dialogues, OMG, who wrote this snooze fest? And padded out with soooo many repetitive and pointless conversations.
And the basic premise, finding new homes - there is no urgency, nor strong motivation of 'all of mankind will die if you don't sort this Ryder'. It's more like an adventure holiday where you repeat the same adventures, just in a different location.
Also, I don't feel my answers and decisions really make any difference, where are the massive moral dilemmas? Where are the REAL character choices?
The technical issues are, well technical issues. What I'm finding hard to forgive is the lack of heart, the heart of the ME franchise, an immersive story with well designed characters.

The game as it is has an engaging start, like able characters albeit some dialogues needed a little more fleshing out in my opinion. (Ryder and Suvi flirting for example)

The gameplay is fast and fun unlike Dragon Age : Inquisition or Mass Effect 3 (i'm not saying they aren't fun games but the combat in ME:A really brought the franchise to the next level).
Gunplay is good, weapon and armor variety is outstanding (multiple pieces from each faction).
Crafting is fleshed out, it's not basic nor complex, just good overall.
The nomad handles very well and planetary exploration of each habitat is mysterious and open world like, it follows the Ubisoft Formula without throwng too much to do at you.
The storytelling and pace of the game keeps you wanting for more and doesn't have the dreaded Citadel simulator aspect of previous games. You do go to the Nexus and the Tempest but not as much as before.
The Remnant (ancient alien) faction is very good, their temples and underground complex remind me of action puzzlers and platformers where you need to figure out the intricacies of the puzzles with not a lot of handholding going on.
Space exploration/scanning is back but it's less of a chore and is visually stunning, if i was to complain about one thing it is indeed the zooming around the galaxy which is a bit slow but it's a non issue just a small gripe.

Overall, Ryder is a very likeable character both male and female, the cast and crew is very fleshed out and well made, they all have their own personalities, needs and wants and you'll never get bored reading through terminals or discussing matters with them.

The game doesn't deserve the backlash it got especially since it was developed by a team of amateurs and freelances.
On a positive note, their next game will probably be a masterpiece if they tune down the virtue signaling and sjw pandering and think about making a game for gamers instead of shoving that little bit of nonsense up our throats.

Planetside exploration is reminiscent of Mass Effect 1 except the planets have more content and there are no filler planets (so far). Action is the best of all Mass Effect games. The new galaxy and characters don't have the same emotional attachment as in the previous games eventually had but it has potential. Ryder in particular isn't "black slate" type of character like Shepard. Her dialogue fits her character very well regardless of option.

There are some nitpicking that bothered me a bit scifi-wise. With those quantum entanglement communicators one would think they'd place one on Milky Way to keep communicationg with the fleet. Less emotional attachment to the characters too, though I like the crew. Game also starts bit slowly and there is lot to take in when it gets going.

But I didn't even notice that those "facial animations" are supposedly bad. Wow.

    So the Bad stuff first:

    - The facial animations, they aren't top notch, I didn't find them to be off putting but some people will
-Some of the voice acting isn't great, not so much the one on one conversation, but with multiple characters in a dialogue it can be a bit disjointed
-Some of the side quests can feel a bit MMOish
-It has quite a slow start, this is something that I don't think has done it any favors with the early access options, play a few hours and see what you think. It's slow, so I think that will go against it in that format and I have seen a fair few reviews here of people deciding not to buy it from that and review it from those few hours. In terms of this game you need to play through that to get to the gold.
-The inventory system is a bit clunky

    The Good:

-The environments are beautiful, with a good range and if you want to explore you will be rewarded for that
-Combat is interesting and doesn't feel like a speed bump
-The story is good, and has its own feel, note the above that it does take a while to get into it. Once you are in it though you have the choices of where to go and what to focus on.
-More then black and white. Some people are going to see this as a downside, there are more options than paragon and renegade, leaving room to be more of a nuanced hero.
-The personal character interactions are great
-Most of the side quests are good
-A similar but different focus to saving the whole universe and it all feeling very urgent

Overall I like if not love this game.

Buy it, play past the first 5 hours and hopefully you will feel the same as well.

I've only got one big gripe with the game and that's that I can only equip 3 skills in combat. That is something that's really detrimental to my enjoyment of the game, seeing how you've got 24 active skills to pick from while you can only ever have 3 equipped. But that's it.

If mass effect was a Drama of cosmic scale which kept player emotionally invested through it's run, this is a casual weekday sitcom full of unfunny jokes where the crowd laughs so that you don't have to.

Game is supposedly full of content, but that content is a joke. Side mini-games which simply extend the hours spent in-game but adds nothing to the over-arching narrative or world building. Only mildly interesting concept I've came across was Angara race. And I could argue this was poorly done.

No EDI trying to find out what it is to be human.
    No Rannoch
    No imposing villains like Soverign
No badass characters like illusive man.

Nothing. Just .. action sequences which I frankly don't care really, with some made up narrative to justify it. And when everything is done in plastic looking graphics, there is nothing else to pick on or criticize other than animations. Because game doesn't have anything else in it.

But when I got my first outpost coming down from the sky after a hell of a work to get it done, it gave me some strong emotions. Good ones too. Like some I got from Gothic 2, The Witcher (all of them), Dragon Age Origins and the Mass Effect games (of course, the last 10 min of ME3 excluded). I am enjoying to play Andromeda like if it were one of those great games despite of its flaws. Maybe I got too soft while aging or maybe young people nowadays are too demanding. I followed pre-release Andromeda Initiative and signed up and watched it all. I was excited with it while waiting for the chance to play. Honestly, I am not even a bit frustrated. I wish I had a better rig for better FPS and graphics but I'm working on it soon. I am actually impressed that the game can be much better than so many b/s I've played throughout the years and it's not different of what was presented in the pre-release vids and cinematics. I am loving my pathfinder and all she is doing in game. The companions are cool too. The only thing that makes me sad about it is that Bioware is no CDPR and there will be no Enhanced Edition or a super mega hiper patch for free, fixing most of the flaws. But that's only my guessing. Who knows what they have learned watching CDPR going from a small Warsaw studio to one of the most brilliant game developers. I still pray that EA gets their dirty hands far away from those Polish guys. The rest, I can live with. Combat is cool! INSANITY!!!

It's really sad such an amazing game can fall victim to so much stupidity. Developers and gamer alike should no longer pay attention to this site or it's reviews. People have figured out how to game it, and use it as a way to attempt to punish devs for anything they don't like. I have seen some people who threw the whole game away because there are gay people in it. Because it presents romantic relationships in a more organic way, and some of those potential relationships are of a homosexual nature. Ya, a guy hit on you. Guess that deserves giving the game a 0? Grow up.

All in all, if you miss out on this game because of the idiots on this site, you're missing out on what may be one of the best sci-fi action RPG's ever made.

TL;DR- This game is bad, but if you are a fan and don't really care about problems, you'll probably love this game. Buy Mass Effect 1 instead.

This game only has one thing going for it, and that's the combat. But even that isn't good enough to hold this game up; with buggy characters and cut scenes, audio problems, multiple crashes, s-s-s-s-stuttering, boring and uninteresting enemies, story, and motivations, barren worlds that hold small boring huts that you can shoot people at, shoe horned in "loyalty missions", a forgetful soundtrack, and conflicts that feel more like a melodramatic play put on my freshman theater kids rather than an epic space opera, this game disappoints at every single turn.

Oh, and if you are a fan of decisions, this game has none. Or at least, none that matter. Or if you are a fan of making a customized character, good luck with that, as the character creation tools are more limited than Bethesda games are buggy, as well as only having 3 hot-keys for abilities.

They probably started developing this game at the same time as Mass Effect 3 and took too long to release this and could not get it into a newer engine to make it look relevant to what is being offered now for other games. I am glad that i did not pay full price for this. It's a big let down. Like the assasin's creed unity of Ubisoft for Bioware. I hope EA and Bioware learn a hard lesson from this. things that look like they may provide cover do not, some that do are total cheese spots and give you the magical ability to shoot through what should be otherwise impossible angles. and in reverse may just get you killed because you'll shoot the inanimate blockade you've chosen while staring down an enemy that can now shoot through aforementioned rock/wall. theres really no safety while moving in this auto cover system, because seemingly Ryder will magically have enough of this **** and just stand strait up to change directions and be met in kind with an auto aim, perfect firing line accuracy the enemy possesses from a quarter of a mile away using their smg/assault rifles .

you too possess a smg assault rifle but i think your manufacturer may have left out any type of recoil compensation or rather Ryder being an elite trained operative was never tested on how well his grouping had been. so far as i can tell, all the abilities are the exact same from ME1, 2, &3. that may be a bonus for you, for me its a rather dull repetitive experience.

voice acting seems to have been done in a studio far removed from the game dev team, being that whatever script was given to these poor souls had no descriptors on wtf was actually going on in any of these scenes. the emotional inflection or lack there of seems to plague about 90% of all game content..

IMO most of the level designs seem a jumbled mess of procedural generated assets that the devs kept randomizing until they felt the cobbled together mess was considered playable. some of this is a true eyesore. But in all i think the most telling thing of this whole cash cow "member berry" experience (that i myself am not removed from) Is the lead designer of this project, you should watch out for these type of people, and no, I'm not referring to any type of race or ethnicity. rather a moral corrupt narcissist that believes the legitimate concerns of his fan base are to be blamed on the color of their skin rather than the evidence provided that he and his development team did in fact ship us **** and alot of it.

he screams racism because you don't like the cringe worthy animations, narrow character customization, bad voice acting, graphical down grades, laggy controls and 80s action movie narritive, while without fans like you he wouldn't have had a job (and a damn good one at that), that gave him the ability to slag off a lead designer position in the first place. But just remember its not his fault, he made a good game, and if you dont think so your probably just a white racist, "writes this native american"

but don't believe so, anyone who does a bad job and blames it on everyone else, well, we have a title for them, its called **** bag". btw, aforementioned lead designer was fired from his position and now leads an indie gaming company. feel free to check out any upcoming titles from him. I'm sure you'll want to purchase whatever this man produces effective immediately.

    Pros:
Sci-Fi adventure in space. Lots of ground to cover, freedom of movement. Vehicle is a decent mode of transportation this time. Skyboxes of planets are amazing so driving around the alien planet and just looking at it is quite fun. There is a decent horde mode multiplayer. Few companion characters are memorable.

Cons: Much, much weaker than any of the original games as far as story and characters go. Nothing even comes close to Harbinger lines and the general feeling of ME1, squad of ME2 or atmosphere doom and gloom in ME3. Technical issues are apparent though you will learn to ignore those pretty fast. Some writers push their political agenda in most obvious and appalling manner.

I seriously don't know why people are complaining this much about ME:Andromeda. The 0/4 scores are purely from fan-boys or people hating on something particular (like the animation non-sense I talked about before), there is no way that this game could have that low score.

The game is not actually bad, it was never going to match the story of the original but in the universe of scifi it is not in uninteresting territory. I now have 27 hours of play time under my belt and there's plenty to get on with in multiple open worlds and it feels like I'm just getting started. It definitely plays like a Mass Effect game and it looks good. Remember how in the first Mass Effect you could roam around planets in a vehicle, well that's back and is a major part of the game, each planet you explore seems massive and is full of quests and things to shoot at. The scanning of planets and anomalies is also there and that's where my biggest gripe with the game lies, you cannot skip the animation of going from one area to another when moving around Andromeda, not the worst thing in the world. The gameplay is amazing, the characters are lovable (or intentionally hate-able) from an early point and the world is so well designed to give you the perfect feeling of nostalgic familiarity while still making everything new. The theme of the game is so well portrayed by the plot as there is always a feeling of mystery and an entity that is much bigger than yourself which can't help but invoke a need to explore and learn.

The only flaw in the game would be the animations, they are not up to modern standards. This said, however, they simply do not detract from the immense enjoyment that this game offers. As of yet I have still not encountered any bugs on my PC version, and thus cannot comment about that.

In conclusion, I cannot understand the gap in experiences that people are having with this title. It is thoroughly invoking and enjoyable, and certainly does not warrant the immense hatred it is receiving. The hate seems like a clear example of media hysteria to jump on the popular 'meme' for the day just so that you feel there are people out there who agree with you.

I have to differentiate here a bit, since I DO like the multiplayer since it is fun action. However, a minority of us bought ME4 for the multiplayer part !!! So basically I would give the Multiplayer part an 8. But this is an addon for people and we bought an RPG !!!

Lets begin with the Fighting engine. Yes I know, not the core thing in an RPG, but I think I owe an explanation here, since it seems paradox that I like the fighting engine in the Multiplayer, but hate it in the RPG. I find the 3rd dimension a challenge and fun in multiplayer. But lets face it, is it realistic ? Even with a jetpack ? No it is not, you would probably kill yourself in the first 5 seconds if you used a jetpack like you do in the hardcore combat scenes. So yes it is an RPG and it really makes me feel not being in the game to fight like that. So as a fighting engine for an RPG I have to give it 0 points. It disrupts immersion totally. I can't feel I am Ryder with this, it feels so unreal. That is why it is OK for multiplayer, but not for the RPG, the single player campaign. In multiplayer I don't play a role, I am there for the challenge and the fun. And jump flying around is REAL fun. But if you have to sink yourself in an RPG and BE Ryder .... well it breaks it. In the ME3 series I felt like I WAS commander Sheperd, The missions were tough, but it felt like doable with normal human assets.

So since it is a fighting oriented RPG the fighting engine makes 3 of 10 points. So 0 of 3 points from me here.

Now the story. I am really disappointed. It really looks like a group of raw recruits. I mean Sheperd was a mature person in their very late twenties or perhaps early thirty. Plus they had a full Intelligence Service behind them. Here ? some people who just grew out their teen years jump in and do something. OK, there is the AI, but well, it is secret on top. Would you really trust a teen your precious ship ? juest because they claim to be the pathfinder ? Hey the middle ages have passed where a noble just anointed their child as successor !!!! and especially that other people just ate it. Remember that even warhero Sheperd had to fight for their place hard ? The spectre rank came not immediately.

An RPG lives from the stories, so that is 4 points for me. I give it 1 of 4 points.

The models, voicing and interface: The faces are really unacceptably bad for an RPG, there is no talking out of this. The game itself has pretty nice graphics. maybe not Witcher 3 quality, but it would be good enough to draw me in and make the RPG believable if the rest of the game was OK.

The characters are flat, I just can't get into the game. The quests are boring. I agree that ME3 often was also some fetch questing, but the stories were built better. there was a briefing before. The missions felt important and it was clear what I have to do. Also I am stuck on the first mainquest on EOS. I know exactly that I have to scan the glyphs, but where are they ???? There is sometimes a good joke, but somehow all sounds so rehearsed. The flat expressions in the faces do not really help along with the somehow flat voicing. It is hard to catch, but somehow the old ME voicing had a bit more of spice.

The faces DO matter for an RPG. The faces look especially weird around the eyes and that is where conversation lives. I think 50% of the not coming over of the story is due to the bad face expressions and the eyes. ME was never great in that, however, it is somehow a joke that ME4 beats all its predecessors in bad expressions. And no it is not that hard as some defenders try to say. Fallout 4 did an ok job for example and had much more believable jokes. Fallout 4 is more of an openworld game and such not the best RPG setup, So if they did better as an RPG than ME4, it is a poor result.

Also, do we really need idle games (strike teams) in an RPG.

The faces add a lot to the quality of an RPG … or take it like in ME4. So the models, voicing and interface make 3 of 10 points for me. I can only give 1 point here.

Basically we have to say that this game was not made for the old fans. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who like it. If you are not a SciFi and hardcore RPG (DAO style) fan, it might be ok. So if for you it is not understandable why there are so many outcries, it is NOT the game the ME fans expected and I am sure that all the negative votes are from old fans. This is NOT our series, it feels like they got permissions to use races and characters from the ME franchise, but NOT like an ME game.

BTW, the story would have had potential for sure, but they really botched it.

However the worst of them seem to appear in the first three hours of the game. It also seems that the developers tried to make human npcs espescially ugly. Which is also a problem for the character creator. There are only a few templates which are good enough for character creation at least for creating a male character. Additionally there is something wrong with the human eyes of the characters. They don't have no reflection, are to big and too wide open. In general fixing the eyes would already make the game a lot better visually. However other than that the game is beautiful. The planets and environments look great and the alien races look better than ever.

    UI and Menus
At first the UI and menus are very overwhelming. I can only talk here about my personal expirience. After some time I got used to it. Using the keyboard to navigate the menus instead of the mouse is very efficient and fast. All in all interfaces for sure need improvements but bad menus and interfaces in AAA games seems to be a trand lately.

    Gameplay
Gameplay is good and fun. However I am very much used to the cover mechanic of ME3. So I don't use the jet pack as often as I probably should in combat. I prefer to stay in cover and shoot from a medium distance. Also I sometimes "break cover" by just moving to much to the side. This doesn't happen to often so it is just a minor annoyance.
A new addition to the series is crafting which allows you to customize your armor and weapons. There are lots of armor and weapon types to craft. All with different attributes. Armors can benefit different specializations (biotic, soldier, tech) or they can have more general stats. All inall there are a lot of customizations options with the crafting menu. Probably every armor or weapon you've seen in the Mass Effect franchise can be crafted and equipped and modified with auguments. For all those options it is a pity that you can't equip your squad with the equipment you can craft.
Another new feature is the skill system. It allows for four different profiles to freely switched around. The player can learn every skill and add 3 of them to every profile - there is no class restriction for learning the skills.
Exploration seems to be the new focus of the gaming series. Most of the maps can be explored with the Nomad a vehicle which can be upgraded in various ways. The maps countain various activities and quests. At times the amount of quests can be overwhelming. The quality of quests vary greatly and probably depends personal preference.

    Conclusion
All in all the game is can be a pleasant expirience when you can get past the biggest problem - the animation and hideous looking NPCs.

First of all, the facial animations are not adequate. Yes, there are issues with facial animations as well as the looks of human npcs. Besides the facial animation, a lot of the minor human npcs are ugly as sin, like their modeling was made entirely by a randomising facial creation program, cause no way a human developer made some of those faces and the said "it's good!", no way.

Besides the facial animation, a lot of the minor human npcs are ugly as sin, like their modeling was made entirely by a randomising facial creation program, cause no way a human developer made some of those faces and the said "it's good!", no way.

So now that we got...THAT out of the way, let's get to the good stuff.

The game is...AWESOME. The best feature would probably be the combat itself, it's very satisfying and fun. Of course you won't notice that if you just play a boring ass soldier character. The beauty of the combat comes into play when you play melee-biotic hybrids or just pure biotic, there is a ton of things you can do, from teleporting into enemies to picking up a couple of them and hurling them into other enemies.

The game is pretty much a better Inquistion. Trust me on this, I considered Inquisition as a borefest with tons of pointless, filler quests, and **** combat. And I didn't care at all about the companions in Inquisition. Other than that, it's very similar.

One thing I don't really appreciate is how much downtime you have between action. I don't want a Doom, geez, but come on, I would rather do other things than bla bla bla with a ton of npcs for hours, most of those dialogues being a short version of their life's story. I DON'T **** CARE!

Another thing I'm not a fan of is the interface. It's very convoluted, things like quests are very confusing to get to, as well as the buy/sell interface is horrid. Also, you don't immediately know if an item you buy is going to really be an improvement for you. But I have to admit that after you play the game for hours, you get kinda used with the interface and can work with it, of course as a new player, you'll just get pissed for a while.

The controls are very nice and responsive. As someone who doesn't use a controller at all and couldn't play Witcher 3 because the controls were **** on keyboard&mouse, it's nice to see a game developed for consoles, that doesn't shove a controller down your throat. M&kb is working perfectly.

In conclusion, if you haven't bought the game yet, go ahead and do it, it's tons of fun. If you already bought it and scored it low just because of the facial animations and occasional cutscene glitch...you're a manchild, get over yourself, there are worse games out there that are considered a "success" but which are indeed much worse products that ME:A. Fallout 4 comes to mind.

I was surprised that I couldn't create a character to resemble my Commander Shepard from games past, much less anything that resembled me. Ryder lacks any sense of presence. He isn't a soldier, he isn't much of anything. Pathfinder? Ryder has no business being a protagonist. At best he is a tutorial npc that hands you a fetch quest. The dialogue is terrible. The decision wheel actually has better responses than what the voice actor elaborates with. Bad writing, bad casting, bad choice of characters for the npcs... apparently there was a cascade failure during development. The entire game and its menus stink of a lazy console port. EA is remaining faithful to its legacy of eventually ruining everything it gets its hands on. I really appreciate that they chose to give us a 10 hour trial instead of having to deal with all the refund requests/extra flak. If this is going to be your first mass effect game, stop. Don't even think about it. Go play through the first through third plus DLC's. You can get them all for cheaper than this steaming pile of mediocre pandering. I truly feel bad for what I'm sure were many people who worked hard on this only to see it turn out so poorly. There were definitely some terrible decisions made, and the people who made them have no business working in the gaming industry. People are comparing the writing to fan-fiction, and it truly is. Possibly not even Mass Effect fan-fiction though, more like EA executives and a bunch of annoying lobbyists had an idea and hired a 15 year old SJW to write it down for them. Expand

A bunch of morons decided that Bioware made the female characters in Andromeda ugly on purpose to appeal to those pesky SJWs. Bioware is also apparently racist because while there ARE Caucasian skin tones in the character creator, they're not quite white enough which is oppressive to the white male or something. Yes, this whole sorry affair is as cringy and embarrassing as it looks. My conclusion is that these boys were way too young to play any previous Mass Effect games because if they were old enough back then, they could remember that women in Mass Effect (and Dragon Age, for that matter) have always looked quite bad. Hell, femShep in the first and second game looked awful. Her redesigned version in ME3 looked really hot - but only in the cinematic trailer and on the cover art. The actual in-game model looked nothing like what they promised. Bottom line: Bioware is just being the same old Bioware they have always been, but little boys can't deal with it.

With that out of the way, how is the actual game? Surprisingly good, actually. I've sunk about 30 hours into it so far and I'm nowhere near done, but I already love it. The premise is simple: a number of space ships (or "Arks") leave our solar system during the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy to look for a new home in the Andromeda galaxy. Their goal is to search for viable planets and colonize them. The travelers spend 600 years in cryosleep, and when they wake up things definitely aren't as simple as they expected. The Ark the new protagonist Ryder is traveling on arrives more than a year after the others. The Nexus (which is this game's version of the Citadel) is barely alive, several other Arks got lost in space and crash landed who knows where, and the planets people hoped to colonize are deadly. There are also new threats: hostile aliens known as "kett" and "the Scourge", an artificially created space phenomenon that destroys everything in its path. Ryder's goal is to deliver what the Andromeda Initiative promised: terraform planets, build colonies, bring people back from cryo, and create a new home for the future generations.

Now I must mention the elephant in the room: yes, the character models and animations in this game are sub-par, the facial animations in particular. It's nowhere near as bad as people make it sound, but it's definitely disappointing. Bioware games have always had glitchy animations, awkward facial expressions and less than attractive females, but it's the year 2017 and one would hope there was some progress on that front. Alas, we still have Mass Effect 1 levels on quality 10 years after the first game was released. Female Ryder's default in-game model was disappointing in particular, but 30 hours into the game it actually grew on me and I think she looks quite cute.

Mass Effect has always been more about the characters' personalities rather than their looks, though, and Andromeda still delivers. Fryda Wolff as Sara Ryder is definitely a worthy successor to Jennifer Hale's Shepard. She's younger and less experienced than Shepard, and she's endearingly awkward (especially when she flirts), but she's also snarky, funny and pretty cool when she wants to be. Wolff's delivery is spot on and femRyder has quickly become one of my most favorite ME characters thanks to her amazing voice work. The whole main voice cast is very strong. Christine Lakin (yes, the little girl from Step by Step) is shockingly good as Peebee. Katy Townsend is here too for those of us who can't get enough of the Cheeky Scot, and Natalie Dormer as Lexi T'Perro is amazing as expected, though I can't help it but feel her talent is a bit wasted. They brought in Natalie effing Dormer and all they have her do is voicing a minor character you can't even romance. She should have been a squad mate.

There are 6 squad mates in total, all of them likeable and appealing in their own way. Not all of them are as fleshed out as they'd deserve, but Andromeda is just the first game in a new series and I'm sure we will learn more about them in time. You can also romance them as usual, but while the sex scenes are slightly more graphic this time around, they're also very, very awkward.

The game is well optimized on PC, too. I have an old GTX 970 G1 which is definitely not cutting edge anymore, and the game looks amazing with a rock solid framerate at all times. The sound design and music are great as well.

Final verdict: Andromeda is a damn good game. There are things I don't like (limited character creator, confusing mission tracking, crafting system, the lengthy animations you have to watch when traveling from planet to planet, weird character models and facial expressions), but if you get over these flaws the overall experience is enjoyable. Oh, and the new MAKO is really, really fun to drive this time around!

There are several things to do such as, mining... over and over and over again, playing logic puzzles over and over again, and then quests that you won't remember by the time you finish the game. The story and open world become tiresome very fast.
The combat on the other hand feels very fluid and fun. With the ease of access to switch a load out/power set makes combat feel engaging and intense. Enemies can be repetitive, but just making those dumb alien dudes blow up is amazing. The combat is the only saving grace of this game in my opinion. Hopefully Bioware will learn after seeing how this game and Dragon Age Inquisition had done. This game's concept was good, but was just executed awfully.

MMO style world = big and empty. A game TWO YEARS old managed to do better in making it feel 'full' than this (Witcher 3). The problems go on; bad driving mechanics, somehow weaker shooting mechanics than the previous game (how the hell did you manage this?

It's like having designed a sports car and 'the new model' turns out as a horse and cart, horse sold separately!!). None of these flaws are breaking on their own, but a bit like a boxing match it's rarely one blow that puts it down and out for the count, but a succession of relentless failures to match even the standard of the previous mass effect 3, all annoying and some immersion breaking that add up to a weak, even bad game not worth the money. Combine all this with the SJW nonsense (every character almost is bi-trans etc.; i don't mind there being characters that are but come on, every one almost?) and I think we're watching the slow, gradual death of a studio by a thousand cuts.

What's also fascinating is how the review sites are still scoring it relatively well, whereas the user reviews tell the real story in most cases I suspect. Oh and the multiplayer is ok; mediocre, nothing special but fun for a few hours with friends; really not a significant iteration on ME3's though.

Also, sadly although the ending is better than ME3's, it's not by much; it's almost as though thousands if not millions of complaints re. ME3's ending somehow resulted in more shallow, callow, weak choices. I wanted to love this game very badly as I did it's younger relatives, sadly what I got was a fantastic PR campaign and little actual substance with almost no quality or love poured into it.

This will be the last Bioware game I buy after now preodering two mediocre releases in a row (DA:I), I'll save my cash and plough it into a studio that at least takes pride in what they produce (e.g. CD Projekt). I'd like to blame EA, but based on some of the inexperienced, or just plain idiotic (Manveer for example) folks they've hired this one's all on you Bioware.

The ME story line has always been about story over visuals, even in max settings graphics are a mixed bag. Immersiveness of an RPG has been abandoned here more due to issues & focus on being a shooter than keeping to the successful mix of the previous triology. The writing in this feels more fan story, but that would be an insult to some awesome fan fiction. The writing is very forced, with huge disparity between characters, all of it lacking the subtle world building of the previous trilogy. In MEA visuals range from pre-ME1 to beautiful [a great shame that one moment at ultra settings its gorgeous and within seconds you have sub par graphics, efforts show on planets and the tempest but elsewhere its shockinkly distracting, including the animations], voice acting is clunky [on the verge of cringeworthy] and you'll be compelled to skip some conversations, the open world doesn't work a as invisioned at implentation and plenty of bugs. The menu systems and lack of quick save add to to the lack of polish and feel of a game console import, quicksave and lack of mini map becomes mind numbling annoying. MEA just feels awkward or forced. It almost seems ambition and reality of timeline in dev didn't work out. Also you can rush through this game and I think they should have stopped that or discourage it more as was found in ME2. In its simplist form you can get a real difference by listening to the ME1 Soundtrack against the MEA one. You kind of just get a 'meh' feeling. I think over time and progression, even if the main antagonist storyline improves, much of the detractors start to really grind, wear you down and get bored. It really does feel like just another shooter/rpg and lacks orginality [with some obvious repeats from the trilogy], although a new era some stronger links or rationale behind the main story might have helped, its just rather 'weak'. In addition to this, im reguarly finding gaps in knowledge, wondering how someone knows that or when was that explained? Rather big holes exist in the story line, I cant decide if this is lining up an MEA2 or forcing completionist games, however many exist in cut scenes in dialogue. There are hints of issues in the 'real world' appearing at times.

I've tired to keep an open mind that this is a new storyline and to give it a chance but in real terms this doesn't feel like 5 years of dev or classic bioware. If this is a start of new trilogy they have no option but to follow up quickly with a MEA2 and sort it out as many will feel that lack of wanting more as was found with ME1. Many wanted it to be more similar to ME1, but the genuius of ME one was polish, critical storyline and a moderated open world, this had not been achived in MEA. Some may even call it DAI in space. Its hard to bond with characters or even be that fussed with the storyline and sometimes events, plots and quests seem a drag or no real placement in the context they are set. You get quickly overloaded with fruitless side quests of no meaning or little relevancy. Loyalty missions reguarly have little to do with the team mate and youve hardly got to the stage of feeling any loyalty to them. As we can see from reviews, it's not bad, it's not great but 'neutral', a mixed bag which I think is the worst kind. Many of the old team left bioware and the ME franchise and random people bought in, and it shows. It lacks the maturity of ME1 and worst out of the 4, it certainty will be amongst biowares lesser titles. We all accept some bugs and issues but MEA sits on the dangerous grey area which has split the gaming community. A remaster of ME1-3 would have made some happier. Do I feel gripped to play this or rushing back to play it again or continue it from day to day life and work, no. This is a signficant difference to ME1-3.

In all it's a mixed bag and for many it will be the overall feeling of the game. My gut feeling so far is disappointment but most of all it lacks 'soul'.

Give it it ago, but be prepared. Many will feel they would have wanted to face the reapers than run away to andromeda. What a shame we had to wait 5 years to find out.

I like this game. I'm not sure why people hate it so much. It's not perfect, but If you like Skyrim and Fallout 4, I recommend you try it. A lot of the negative reviews come from people who hate those games.

The game is not perfect. The human facial animations leave something to be desired, but beyond that, the game is quite good. Since it's in a different galaxy, there's a sense of wonder that's returned from exploration and charting places previously uncharted versus visiting known locations as in previous games. I give it an 8/10 and am hoping that they somehow improve the human facial animations in a later patch. While it isn't game breaking, it can break immersion at times but overall, it's just one small piece of a much larger game; a game that is worth your time. Expand

I bought this game and now I regret it. This game is the next E.T. the Extraterrestrial, and, I guarantee, it will be the worse game of 2017, unless someone tries REALLY hard to do something even worse. This is actually sad, Mass Effect 2 was one of the best games I've ever played, and I've been a big fan of the series ever since.

This is actually sad, Mass Effect 2 was one of the best games I've ever played, and I've been a big fan of the series ever since.

The story is superficial, the animations are terrible (even Mass Effect 1 animations are more realistic), It has more bugs than Skyrim, the physics are lame (Mass Effect 1 physics are far better) and It's impossible to create a bond with the characters, since they do not express emotions properly (like the scene when the character says that her father is dead while she smiles).

Playing this was a painful experience and sometimes I had the impression that I was actually playing a Gamer Poop from Mans1ay3r.

Bioware is dying since Dragon Age Inquisition. Seriously, do not waste your money on this game, go play Space Invaders instead and you'll have a far better experience.

    Half-baked abomination of a game.
Developers discarded a huge opportunity of new and engaging story in another galaxy, instead decide to play safe and made an awkward clone of a previous games, even going as far as reusing previous assets (models, animation, mechanics).

Writing is abysmal. Logical errors and plot holes the size of the supermassive black hole.
    Some examples:
    - After travelling 600 years to another galaxy you visit first planet in a prologue, completely unexplored, with recon mission. On that planet there are mysterious alien installations, thousands of years old. Guess what you find there? A scope for your rifle. Not a technology, that you have to research first ot use it. just the damn thing, that you can slap on your weapon. Another galaxy, folks!

    - First contact with an alien race, an important and frightening event (remember First Contact war from the lore of the series)? Nope. Instant understanding and cooperation.

    - Hero is the last hope of colonists, tasked with finding new worlds for the survival of everyone must buy his equipment for credits... Come on, there are million ways to circumvent this stupid situation, there could be requisition points, new tech research for gradual upgrades. Nope, credits.

    - Research and crafting. There is no reason to explore planets and collect resources, when you can forfeit research and development entirely and just buy things for credits. Takes away the exploration spirit everyone hoped for.

This is just a surface scratching without going into details.

    Dialogs.
Dialogs seems to be written by 10 year old. Characters spew exposition like in a bad movie. Mindless and numb droning of the NPCs will force you to skip the conversations entirely. Blatant mis-casting of the voice actors, which make characters dull and forgettable. Dialog options regressed even further, than infamous Renegade/Paragon system from previous games. Simplified romance options always show up in the wheel with "heart" icon, not unlocked through conversation and interaction. Just choose "heart" repeatedly and you get the romance scene. That easy. No engagement whatsoever.

    Worlds.
Developers tried to create the open worlds, but instead got generic, empty and forgettable planets with dull quests. Uninspired and repetitive alien installations, awkwardly respawning enemies, overall lack of creativity throughout gameplay: these are the flaws that should never be in the first place, with the foundation like previous games and high project budget.

    User interface.
Horrible design decisions, not just one step back, but a giant leap from established and comfortable interface from previous installments. You easily get lost in the menus, sub menus and tabs even when trying to do simple things, such as change quest tracking. Crafting menu is even worse. Unintuitive key mapping - to open a map you press "M" once, to close it press "Esc" twice. Map is buggy, half of the time you can't even locate your position, the marker just dissapears, making you take a wild guess. Minimap is no more, instead we got Skyrim'esque compass with markers that is just awkward to use, especially when driving in the vehicle.

    Animation.
It's bad. Forget about stiff faces and bad syncing everyone are talking about. We have awkward movement, disappearing weapons, disappearing helmets, characters sliding instead of walking, NPC models suspended in midair, models clipping through the ground, invisible textures, madly rotating eyeballs, impossible gestures, just to name a few. It looks and feels as if it is an early alpha build. Even minimal quality control should have noticed and reported these massive issues, but alas...

    tl:dr verdict:

An insult for the veterans of the series and tedious, boring experience for the newcomers to the franchise.

Conversations have so much filler in them they drag out too long and take too long to get to the point. there are allot of people to talk to I just don't want to it feels like a chore. And I'm the sort of person who would go around talk to everyone and stop to listen to every random npc dialogue even when they just saying the same stuff to each other. The character creation is a joke much worse than previous ME titles. Then the facial animations are unacceptable for the price of the game. Random FPS drops during cutscenes I get constant 60 fps all though the game then at really weird points during cutscenes it will drop to 24 or less for a second or 2

    The good:
The combat is fun and fluid, The planets look good. Exploring the planets is enjoyable. The weapon and armour crafting system is a nice addition. Nomad is fun and fluid to drive around in.

Not sure what all the hate is about. I'm having a great time. I think people's expectations are too high. Facial animations are bit off though. Combat and MP are fun.

    Reasons to buy

    - It's called Mass Effect

    Reasons NOT to

    - It is boring
    - The story is cheesy
    - The animations are a joke
    - The graphics were downgraded
    - The characters,specially the women,are horrible
    - It was made by SJWs

Now,if you still want to buy it,it will be your problem. I did my part to advertise you.

Postcard-pretty landscapes is pretty much all that there is good about Andromeda. They serve as backdrops for a boring, cliche-ridden, somewhat demented story with forgettable characters and even more forgettable missions.

Enough of the classic Mass Effect, with enough new mechanics to keep the game fresh. [Hollingworth; Issue#261, p.55]

An earnest attempt has been made to create a new identity for a series here, but the question of how to best frame Mass Effect's narrative strengths is, once again, left open. [June 2017, p.90]
