    Love the in-game world, but this is barely a game, and definitely not what Fallout should be. Still playing with 25 hours of in-game play, but what is the point. What are workshops for? Why do I build when the game world resets. Why the hell is there a limit of stored resources when that is pretty much all we have to do is collect things? Total Crap!

    But what does this mean, in practice?

    There are no human NPCs in Fallout 76. The only humans you will find are other players. You get quests through holotapes, robot NPCs, among others. This game relies solely on Bethesda's famed "environmental" storytelling, which is as environmental as having a voice telling you what you are seeing. That is because Bethesda's "environmental" storytelling consists of nothing but notes and journals and holotapes and terminals, a far cry from the truly environmental storytelling of Fallout 1, where you can find an abandoned facility that lets you piece together what happened there just by looking around the environment, finding dead bodies, unopened doors, unactivated machinery, etc.

    Fallout 76 is not a good RPG. As such, it fails as a Fallout game. But what about the game part? The simplicity of the quests in this game mean that, unless you are really, REALLY looking forward to spending hundreds of hours doing nothing but fetch quests, base building and PvP that has been nerfed because "griefing is bad in a post-apocalyptic videogame", then the odds are you will hate this game.

    I give this a 5 because it is simply a mediocre game by any metric of the imagination, but in reality a 1 would be more fitting, as it is an absolute disgrace as a Fallout game, and a bad joke as a multiplayer game.    … Expand

    This is a joke... Fallout76 is just a DLC for Fallout4 wich cost's 60€... really?! Not even NPC's, the graphics are awful, Bethesda i hope this "game" is a lesson for you. The modders can't help you this time.

    Pure cash grab with unnecessary limitations (stash size, weapon/armor level), empty/soulless world and quite a few bugs. Bethesda knew why they didn't released on steam, because this way they could just grab the cash and offer no refunds.

    I'm still wondering why Bethesda didn't changed the whole game to battle royal to grab even more cash (probably the engine wasn't up to the task).

    Fallout 76 has no content to warrant calling it a game! Outdated engine with poor graphics, mechanics, frame rate and the usual bugs you'd expect from Bethesda. Can't give this any more than a 0/10 because technically there's nothing that makes it a game.

    Fallout 4 was a joke and I don't even want to mention this low-quality Fallout-themed Rust clone. I will just pretend that it doesn't exist. Bethesda should've left it to Obsidian, those guys clearly knew what to do with the franchise, but it's too late now since Obsidian was bought by Microsoft.     Fallout has been reduced to a **** MMO with massive lore breaking instances, lack of immersive content , easily defeated higher level monsters and constant respawning of enemies, in some documented cases DURING a fight.

    I was sold on the awesome setting of the Fallout universe. Then Fo76 just crapped all over it. This is THE biggest waste of money I can ever recall spending money on and I purchased Battlecruiser 3000AD.

    *No story
    *Terrible enemy AI
    *Terrible gun play
    *Single player engine modified for MP with all the Bethesda bugs

    Avoid this like the plague.

    I bought the game, played it to the point of asking for a refund and these are the problems for me:
    The game relies on micro-transactions. It has zero story telling. There are zero interactions and the environment is empty except for monsters, robots and a wealth of corpses.     The game engine and graphics are seriously outdated: it was used probably a decade ago or two. The game lags seriously despite being my network being on a fibre broadband service with less than 30 ms of ping on typical MMOs: as a result of this lag, it usually takes 1-2 seconds for an enemy to be hit by the bullet I just shot. This is very unsatisfactory. The RPG element is non existent as you do not need to develop your character - it is a survival game without consequences. The social element is both ridiculous and not required: who needs to take pictures whilst taking poses, apply filters, and pretty much uploading that to instagram? In short, this game is a terrible disappointment, I made a mistake pre-ordering it and received the just reward of a polished mud-ball: lesson learned.     Its is absolutely like old good fallout 1 and 2, except it's not. Bethesda was changing the concept of the game for a long time, and i really think that f3 and f4 are pretty good. Its so bad that it seems we will not see fallout 5 never ever.

    Poor performance, bad graphics, boring story, no Fov slider, 60 FPS cap.
    With a GTX 1080 ti and an i7 7700k you get in some Areas around 40 FPS. On low settings!
    The game quickly gets boring, you can't do anything else as explore and loot.

    Many call it an obscene cash grab or a horrendous antithesis of fallout. I just call it garbage. It's a result of fallout design philosophy to create content ultra-cheap and then push it as a fake AAA game. This game shows a complete lack of respect for ex-loyal customers.

    Been a die hard Fallout/Bethesda fan since Fallout 2 was released. I tried so hard to like this game. I desperately wanted to like this game. I overlooked the poor graphics and game performance, the bugs, the lack of story, terrible gunplay and controls (even by fallout standards), and the annoying multiplayer aspects. I finally lost it when after 25+ hours of grinding I still felt like myBeen a die hard Fallout/Bethesda fan since Fallout 2 was released. I tried so hard to like this game. I desperately wanted to like this game. I overlooked the poor graphics and game performance, the bugs, the lack of story, terrible gunplay and controls (even by fallout standards), and the annoying multiplayer aspects. I finally lost it when after 25+ hours of grinding I still felt like my character was an empty shell of what it had been in previous fallout games, and like I was using a pea shooter to attack hordes of overpowered enemies with unresponsive controls in combat to boot.     Bethesda didn't release the game on Steam or Gog for a reason. i can't blame them. As a hardcore fallout fan i've played it in beta and after release, the game is still an ugly buggy mess.

    Have a brain and don't trust those payed shills that gave it a 10. The game itself would deserve a 4, but their shady tactics deserve a 0

    game is extremely glitchy. having to drink water and eat food constantly is very annoying as well as not being able to carry hardly any items without becoming overencumbered. no nps makes for a very dull story line. i do not recommend this game to anyone even if you are a fallout fan because all it will do is make you mad

    Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. Tries to facilitate the needs of both online multiplayer fans and single player fallout fans, and both portions of the experience suffer for it. An entirely PVP game or an entirely co-op game would have worked better, this just feels like an uninspired vessel for their amusingly well fleshed out microtransaction shop.

It makes every Bethesda game, with their silly, short, and shallow quests and stories, look like children had made them. Literally. One's not even able to compare them properly. They're leagues apart on practically every level. CDPR tower over Bethesda, and they were a smaller group of developers when they made TW3! They understand art, storytelling, player choice, open world, design, detail, balance, and so so so much more. I'm done with Bethesda. They were in prime position to take RPG gaming to the next level, but they went backwards, big time. TH should be fired. PH should be fired. EP should definitely be fired more than anyone else. As well as the hidden decision makers. They take years to produce those RPG **** What a laugh!

    When a game like The Witcher 3 is played, one can see what's possible in RPG gaming, and you can easily make the stance that Bethesda contains high levels incompetence, stupidity, laziness, greed, and luck.

    The Fallout series has, for the most part, been a single player game with a wasteland full of NPC characters to interact with to breathe life into the wasteland. There was plenty to do, plenty of NPCs to interact with, and quests kept you engaged. Now comes Fallout 76, add vivid colors, online multiplayer, but dropping almost all NPCs which has literally sucked the life out of the wasteland. Really, only 24 real-life players to group up with in an attempt to bring the "world" alive? In the first couple of hours of play, I only came across 3 other people. One was so bored that he just went around shooting everyone. I started to become bored.

    Bethesda should have taken Fallout through some "baby-steps" to get it to a full-fledged online multiplayer game. Fallout 76 could have been a pretty good online game, even with just 24 online players, IF they would have kept the vibrant world of NPCs around to keep the world "alive". They should have eased the Fallout community from the usual single-player game into a small interaction of online multiplayer gaming. Work out all the mechanics, fine-tune the multiplayer interaction, etc. They could have gotten away with just 24 players per server if there was enough other NPC/quests to keep you engaged. Once they work out all the issue and streamline the multiplayer experience, and only after this baby-step into the multi-player world, should they have attempted an online version of Fallout devoid of NPCs. And hopefully, servers with about 4-5 times the number of actual online-players to help compensate a Fallout world that would be devoid of NPCs.

    Bethesda has taken a great single-player game and tried to do a full-on sprint into the online world and has fallen flat on their face with it. Which is strangle as Elder Scrolls Online seems like a decent game and they should have partnered with the developer for ESO to get it right.

    It's just not keeping my interest and the pop-up "side" quests don't do a thing for me either. The world is literally dead and devoid of humans (NPCs) and with only 24 other players on the server, the server feels dead. The game feels like it's already dead... The great Vault-Tec online experiment with Vault 76 seems to be a complete failure. Hopefully, the next vault will have better success than 76 did.

    I do love the Fallout series, and I will play some more of Fallout 76. But I don't see me putting in the days-on-end into 76 as I did with previous Fallout versions.    … Expand

    60$ game that uses 80% assets, textures and animations from the previous game, works on a 19(!!!!) years old engine and has a joke of an anticheat.
    Braindead story with literally NO npc-s. Survival is boring and simple. Lore and history, written by far more tallented people, once again trashed with "clever" ideas of a junior janitor assistant.    Basically Stolen Coop mod for Fallout4.

    So let me explain a few things, Bethesda constantly lied about certain aspects of this game, this is more PVP than PVE and with a high percentage for griefing, you think the current systems to prevent it is going to stop it? Nahh~ you're going to be shot in the back and every turn, built up a nice base...along comes some jerk with nuclear codes and nukes it.

    If you like PvP and the fallout series then this could be the greatest game for you or the worst experience you've ever had, there are some very dramatic debuffs for 'unconsented' PvP...aka PKing, If you're a strictly PVE player then just don't bother because you'll almost guaranteed to end up with 12 year olds shooting at you or others trying to wreck your PVE experience, not to mention I wonder how long it will take before hackers show up as well which will make the game even more terrible.

    This should have been either a 100% PvP game or a 100% PVE game, then perhaps it might have faired better with the public opinion. Lastly, I come to the paid mods situation - listen Bethesda I'm okay with you making buggy or incomplete games, I'm not okay with paid mods and will always give a negative review based on this fact- Creation club will be implemented at a later date and that is something I'm not okay with, but seeing you guys are steadfast into turning the mod scene into another method to generate Microtransactions.    … Expand

Not to hear some dads kids screaming at him that he is 'doing it wrong' all through character creation, exploring a world where everyone you might have wanted to interact with or things you might have wanted to do are already dead/over, and then spending a dozen hours seeing glimmers of what could have been amazing but was a total wasted oppertunity in reality.

    Fallout 76 feels like you are playing the aftermath of a much better Fallout title. Factions and probably heroes fighting to survive, events and great battles and personal struggles playing out, before someone messed up and got a Game Over and everyone died. Then you arrive. You spend the entire game cleaning up a mess/messes left by extinct factions, in a dead and lifeless map, with the end goal of stopping/killing what caused a second mini apocolypse, probably with an alliance made up of a guy eating chips loudly down his mic, a silent dude in a dress and part hat, and someone who can't stop jumping for two seconds. If you are lucky enough not to be met with stony silence and people totally ignoring eachothers existence which was all I found.

    Made single player, with a populated world full of NPCs, where the stories on the holotapes actually played out in front of you and you could take part, this could have been vastly better than FO4 or even Skyrim. It could have taken the crown of best Fallout from New Vegas without a challenge. Instead, it commits the worst sin of all, in that while being bad, it isn't even interesting. It's just so very, very boring. It feels more like a chore simulator than a video game.

    And all this is without all the wonderous technical issues.

    Avoid. I'm only giving it a 1 because nothing that even launches is worth a 0.

    Bethesda has put out the worst experience I've received from a powerhouse developer in my 27 years & it has completely divided players as some seem desperate to cling to a franchise that was one of the last bastions of an RPG experience & some seem intent on maiming the game for their own profit.

    Wherever you fall on the narrative driven gameplay of this new iteration of Fallout, this game is not well constructed, this game is not running on an well aged engine & the game ships without any sort of identity for what it is meant to be.

    To take a singleplayer experience, and force multiplayer for any semblance of entertainment rings to me as an over reach from an egotistic developer who think they can do no wrong & thankfully the backlash from this horrendous game has been loud enough that it should be resoundingly clear that these shoddy attempts at doing something 'new' will not be tolerated.

    If you took away the Fallout name, no-one would defend this. It is a miserable Rust clone, missing all of the good elements of Rust with a Fallout aesthetic and would be unsurprising to find games of better caliber on Steam Greenlight.

    I won't blindly accept games from any developer on the basis of their previous iterations any further, I'm too heartbroken and too savvy now.

    Every single location and event ive been to has bugged out so far. I gave up after just 3 hours. I kill the same mob five times and it comes back up. I try to claim a workstation and it instantly gets attacked, mobs get stuck below the factory and event is stuck. Not to mention the constant stuttering and **** gameplay feeling. GG, **** scam.,

    For an online survival sandbox game, it's pretty dang good! For a Fallout game.... not so good. Its OK overall, but I'm a little disappointed with it so far. I was stupid for wanting this, but I was really craving more of a classic Fallout RPG. I've also had some disconnection issues but that's probably partly due to it being a launch day. Any offline Fallout title would be much less of a strategical risk for Bethesda as opposed to trying something completely new that can fail horrible, as it just might.

    Bethesda's biggest mistake in attempting an online multiplayer game of this scope might have been picking the universe of Fallout. The title implies this might be a Fallout story and dialogue driven RPG, yet it is anything but that. This is not a traditional Fallout game in any way or form. There are some NPCs in the form of robots but they are few and far between. There is no dialogue, no choices to be made and no consequence of action - all staples of all Fallout games before this one.

    That being said, the game behind the Fallout front it is actually quite enjoyable. Contrary to many stories the performance is pretty solid across the board and framerates are higher than Fallout 4 while offering much more detail in draw distance and small details. '

    Bugs have become a staple of any Bethesda game and I have to say it was a lot better than I expected. During the beta there were some glaring issues with the game speeding up on my 240hz screen but they fixed this before release - although they capped it to 60fps now, creating a whole new issue with disgruntled PC players. One bugged quest is the only real bug I encountered beyond that, though there are supposedly quite a few quests that cannot be completed at this time.

    There is a large amount of content to be found. The map is by far the largest in any modern Bethesda game (starting from Morrowind, that is) and the environmental storytelling - terminals, holotaps, notes, etc - is up to par with what we have seen from Bethesda in previous titles. There is a huge amount of stories to be found in this world. A lot of quests tie into this and though some of them feel like hollow fetch quests, there are plenty that actually immerse and interest the player in the underlying story.

    I do wonder what target audience Bethesda had with this game. Most traditional Fallout fans are definitely not among them, which is for a large part the cause of the public outcry against this game. The game at time leaves you wondering - 'What exactly is this'? - to quote Bethesda themselves. It is unique in its style - but maybe it's unique because hardly anyone actually wants this. By its marketing, it almost seems they wanted to target the Fortnite audience with this game but I can hardly see the average Fortnite player playing Falllout 76, which is pretty slow-paced and non-competitive in comparison.

    Personally, I had a lot of fun with the many beta hours and the first day of gameplay. It plays a lot like Fallout 4 in terms of combat and building and the multiplayer side of the game can be mostly ignored if you want. The added benefit of strolling the wastes with a friend or partner is great but the events and PvP hardly add anything solid to the game.

    I would recommend this game to players who have no great affinity with storiytelling in games and like to play casual shooters or building games with friends. For any Fallout fan who wants dialogue, story, and consequence of action - this game is not for them. But the many 0 reviews on this page will say enough about that.    … Expand

    World size is better than Fallout 4, but quests are fair and i feel no "fallout". There is no friendly NPCs, so world looks empty. World activities (events) are strange and looks like "fifth dog leg". I still hope that DLC and patches will change situation

    Sigh, folks just can’t get their head around something new. They want the same old Fallout, over and over again. They want to march around without any real challenge and get frustrated when their every wish for complete domination is not instantly satisfied. The game is great, I’m enjoying the hell out of it. Real players are much more interesting than cardboard NPCs.

Understand that FOV,DOF, Vsync issues can be fixed like every Bethesda game through the .ini file and once you get past that I am absolutely enjoying Fallout76. The world has been fun to explore and the rando's you bump into will give you a Fallout experience like no other. The storytelling interestingly happens through the locations and theI actually have the game and I am playing it. Understand that FOV,DOF, Vsync issues can be fixed like every Bethesda game through the .ini file and once you get past that I am absolutely enjoying Fallout76. The world has been fun to explore and the rando's you bump into will give you a Fallout experience like no other. The storytelling interestingly happens through the locations and the diorama they leave behind which is much prefered to Bethesda wooden NPC's.     This game is getting review bombed hard for no reason other than, "It doesn't have X in it! This isn't MY FALLOUT." Calm the hell down people, yes this game is flawed. No, it's not a complete dumpster fire worthy of a 0 score. In reality I think this is about $20 overpriced so those on the fence should wait for a sale.

    Game is perfectly fine. There are some teething issues and some normal Bethesda bugs but this is par for the course for Bethesda and the same as Skyrim or Fallout 4 in terms of bugs.

    While Fallout in name this is definitely not the single player Fallout experience you're used to. Instead of dialogue tree's largely feeding you the story, you as the player are dropped into a largely NPC void world pushed into digging up the story behind mysteries and events that take place in this game through Holotapes, Notes, Terminals, and the occasional Robot NPC. If you've played through Darksouls or Bioshock, its very similar.

    The progression system is more indepth than that of Fallout 4 and i'd consider it a major improvement. In Fallout 4 there was no thought behind your choices. You could end up with any and all skills as well as maxed out specials at some point during your play time. With Fallout 76 you are limited in how many special points you may place which limits how many perk cards you can take depending your point allocation. This promotes building a character to fill a specific role which is something that was sorely missed from previous Fallout titles.

    The world is expansive and beautiful. My major issues with Fallout games of the past was the limited biomes in each game. 76 manages to change things up with multiple different location biomes that show off varying color pallets and themes as you explore them making it very easy to get lost in the world provided to you.

    Free DLC! Yep, Bethesda will be supporting the game with free DLC for its entire life cycle! Which is always a welcome thing to see in a gaming universe that is now seemingly dominated with Triple A titles selling players cut content in the form of DLC.

    This game DOES have flaws. While it is most definitely fun to play and a great time, this game is host to a few issues you should be made aware of.

    This game is clearly a console port done pretty poorly. It lacks a lot of features and options in the client that are pretty common place in most PC games which forces you to play around with your INI file to solve most of them. That being said, not all options can be solved with the INI. Push to talk being a feature that makes sense just not being in the game.

    This is a Bethesda title. Meaning its plagued by some of the same issues you'd expect from a Bethesda title. Like their game engine tied to FPS, or various performance hitches in crowded areas of the map. While some of this can be fixed while adjusting your INI it doesn't solve all problems and can definitely be a pain in the butt.

    For what its worth this IS a good game. However if you're looking for your typical single player Fallout this is not going to be it but again that doesn't make this game bad.

    This game is an easy 7 1/2 or an 8. However, i'm giving it a 10 to help counteract the four chan brigade hitting this game with 0's because they're upset that the game isn't New Vegas 2.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
