    This game is truly terrible, the lack of NPC's is telling.... its boring, big empty world, C.A.M.P bugged lost gear, stash box weight limit is a joke, my character can carry more than i can store in my stash box by the time i've taken mostly strength and carry capacity perks as you cant get through a mission without having to go overweight. I think this game need a total overhall asap....

    In a world where Fallout 3 is 10 and New Vegas is 9 and Fallout 4 is 8, Fallout 76 is 1. But in a world where there are Half-Life, GTA, Bioshock and other games this game is flat out 0. That is no hate towards the game but an honest score. Fallout game where there is practically no story, no human npc's and is basically all the worse parts of fallout 4. This game could have been done soIn a world where Fallout 3 is 10 and New Vegas is 9 and Fallout 4 is 8, Fallout 76 is 1. But in a world where there are Half-Life, GTA, Bioshock and other games this game is flat out 0. That is no hate towards the game but an honest score.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Premise: I'm a 33 years old father of twins. Not an heater nor a kid. I've played all fallout games since the were isometrics and I really loved them. Back in the days when I was a studente at law university, Fallout 3, was my favourite game to play when I've got some spare times (so sad:-)).
    I have read a lot about Fallout 76, seen a bunch of Youtube videos about the beta and my eyes couldn't believe how trash this game appeared.
    I was litterally shocked how they ruined a perfect formula.
    I've prordered the game hoping the final version would be better.
    No way.
    Terrible graphics with lot of artifacts and glitches (the engine is really outdated), sometimes it stutters at 2K, with GTX 2080Ti, unaccettable!
    No dialogues.
    No NPC.
    The world is really empty! You have nothing to do except going from point A to point B, collect items, killing some monsters. No Plot, no quests, no history.
    The multiplayer side is even worse. Empty. Collabo is 0. Only group of bad painted survivors pointing their guns at some monsters.
    For me is a no go. If I could score less then 0 I would. Is not for the money (litterally stolen) but for what they did to my beloved FALLOUT.
    It is a havoc that should be withdrawn from the market.

With the release of new vegas and then Skyrim the novelty of Bethesda was wearing thin, however, with the release of Fallout 4(a game I was genuinely excited for) the never-ending pattern of poor quality, the use of an aging engine, unbelievable persistent bugs present since oblivion days and an uninspiring story. all I can say is, thank god for mods.

    Fallout 76 is the worst game ever created by the publisher but fortunately for them, there are people who enjoy the opportunity to play fallout with friends and family. However, this does not excuse the fact that this is a "boring as **** game. NO NPC's except quest giving robots, A boring as hell story(if you can call it a story), terrible enemy encounters, sucky at best PVP and early 2000 graphics that want to make me throw up.
    It's sad when small indie game developers are doing a far better job producing quality games with a compelling story for $20-$40 and Bethesda wants $60 for a sub-par game with in-game currency and purchases. Most games like Fallout 76 are generally free-to-play with in-game purchases, the best example is always WARFRAME.

    Don't purchase this game, find a trusted reviewer and then make your decision. Don't let Bethesda off the hook for this cheap attempt at money grabbing.    … Expand

    I'm registering my account here just to say the same as already said by hundreds. If you are a fan of Fallout 1, 2, 3 (NV), even the 4th... Don't buy. You will be sad, you will be disappointed.
    Such a waste... Not my money.. What they did with Fallout.

Lack of NPCs hurts both the game and strory telling. Very limited replay-ability, weak RPG mechanics, maybe a 30-40 hour game at most.     La parte que mas odio es que no puedo jugar offline, donde vivo tengo un internet de mierda con respecto a otros paises, para colmo que no haya npc hace mucho mas aburrido el juego.
    Le daria una puntuacion de 9 o 10 si pusieran npc y podrias creas tus propias partidas e invitar a tus amigos.

    Bethesda was hijacked by an Early Access developer's studio, apparently which resulted in Epic Fail that is fallout 76; Please do not purchase under any circumstances.

    I've been waiting 20 minutes on the loading screen to connect to the server. After I connect because of desync and replication issues with the server, I get killed. Have to wait another 5 minutes on the loading screen to respawn. I go into a building and get stuck on a pile of trash so I need to fast travel somewhere... Opening the map freezes my computer for    This is complete crap!

    Every single location and event ive been to has bugged out so far. I gave up after just 3 hours. I kill the same mob five times and it comes back up. I try to claim a workstation and it instantly gets attacked, mobs get stuck below the factory and event is stuck. Not to mention the constant stuttering and **** gameplay feeling. GG, **** scam.,

    Bethesda didn't release the game on Steam or Gog for a reason. i can't blame them. As a hardcore fallout fan i've played it in beta and after release, the game is still an ugly buggy mess.

    Have a brain and don't trust those payed shills that gave it a 10. The game itself would deserve a 4, but their shady tactics deserve a 0

    One of the best multiplayers this year. Nothing can compare to the fun i've had playing this game and with friends makes it a thousand times better (unlike most toxic fallout fans). This is a true fallout game and i've been playing fallout since the 1998, yes it might be different but what's the fun in playing the same thing over and over again, grow up.

    I have never played a fallout game before 76. But I looked into the lore of fallout after I saw fallout 76. I was hoping the game was going to be a good pvp game. But there is almost no pvp only duels this is so stupid why can't they have pvp and pve servers. If there was more players and better pvp this game would be one of my all time favorites. Fallout 76 tries to be a good multiplayerI have never played a fallout game before 76. But I looked into the lore of fallout after I saw fallout 76.     While playing this game I find that it actively fights against you to put it down and stop playing. A combination of low frame rate and rubbish gun play while having absolutely nothing of worth to do really sours the experience.     First: Don't waste your money. Second: This game is a disasterous mess of outdated graphics that somehow manage to tax even newer systems. More bugs than you can count, many which set you back dozens of hours of gameplay. Project Managers for this game should be fired for allowing such an atrocity to exist.

    Boring, flat, buggy, empty... so many adjectives to describe the loss of a great license. As a fan of the first two "Fallout", I almost want to cry. It's a tragedy. Such a beautiful license to sacrifice on the altar of laziness, convenience and easy money. A shame, and bad publicity for the video game industry.

    I actually was about to give this game another try because i felt i was to harsh to the game and should try to make the best of it and be more generous to the game than just craping all over it.

    What i discoverd instead is that due to the "damage bug" i am currently unable to even play the game properly since all enemies become suddenly invincible if i deal "too much" damage to them. If you do not encounter any gamebreaking bugs that Bethesda still did not fix yet, cool, lucky you, but in my case this game is pretty much disfunctional garbage right now, the bug was known for a while and even about a month after fo76 release its still there so why should i belive that they will fix this in the upcoming weeks?    … Expand

    Game: Advertised as 'rebuilding the wasteland' with you and your friends being the ones driving the stories as the NPCs in a post apocolyptic world.

    Delivery: This means there are no NPCs. They want us to be the NPCs but give us absolutely nothing to work with but an empty map devoid of soul. 24 players is nothing on such a large map when you expect them to be taking the place of raiders/traders/interesting NPCs. If they are squads that means youve got 6 small clusters of people who, based on the pattern of in game, probably wont ever attempt to interact with you.

    Catering to streamers aside, Bethesda seems to expect those memorable interactions that you might get from an MMORPG community with hundreds online in one consistent world all in their Fallout 76 which is closer to a pickup loop of PUBG where nothing you do matters and the game feels more like "lets go play a few rounds of kill the robots" vs "lets go get lost in the mad max esque apocolyptic world of fallout"

    There is just no incentive for co-op or pvp. Absolutely no reason to take up the trader life or stay in any town (and despite everyone hoping there would be some form of vendor you can put stuff up on at the least, we have to resort to having to trade face to face with a clunky UI) On the flip side, theres no way of really being a raider due to how pvp works and the general lack of people, no less people who want to pvp. There are no hubs save for your C.A.M.P. but even that does nothing to add to the feel of the players 'rebuilding' or creating their own towns as it function is more of a temporary item dump/repair location you can throw down.

    You will max out the C.A.M.P housing budget on a 2x2 structure with only the bare minimum crafting benches/turrets and if your lucky, around 3 decorative prop items like a grill or small bookcase.

    Nobody will ever see any rebuilding because of the budget limit as well as the inability to build near premade structures. Which include towns. So as an "NPC" am i just supposed to stand on some premade raider looking wall and hope to make your game more interesting for someone else?

    The stash limit is filled on basic scrap. But you also need scap for repairing anything and base building. You will have room for a few extra guns (or one heavy gun), and the inevitable 'uniqes' that cant be deconstructed. Also some backup water.

    Combine the fact that you have no base building budget beyond the required and your stash is filled by lvl 20, the incentive to 'rebuild' goes away very fast. Or rather you have experienced all the rebuilding that can be done.

    Add to that that your base is stored when you log off and theres nothing to stop anyone else from building in that area (thus preventing you from building nearby). Or the fact that there is no permanence or meaning for a C.A.M.P beyond ones individual need for a quick loot drop/repair spot to throw down as needed.

    There is a solid chance you will lose random chunks of structures and benches when the game stores your base however. And you probably wont get it all set out how you had it. Especially due to anything not part of the main structure being stored individually.

    Nearly all pvp = one side quitting the world just before/after they die and world hopping for a server with people who actually want to pvp. Again, we are supposed to replace raiders? There are more raider corpses in one camp than all the players on the map and even if we had a group going, that still requires everyone else on the server to play along and somehow happening to be close to each other and not just quitting to another world when they get shot at which is primarily what seems to be happening.

    Srsly. I can have a pvp workshop claimed with a bounty, leave to make some food. probably take a shower and run some errands, come back and find not one of those handfulls of player had come even remotely to my vicinity.

    What is even the point of scavenging or taking pvp workshops when our stash / inventory is full and our base budget is capped anyway? Kill robots for more lead so i can craft bullets to kill more robots?

    So. What now? my stash is full and House budget is maxed out on crafting tables and 5 turrets. i cant really build anything that would be neat for other players to interact with or see, but theres also no real reason to explore. i have the gun i want, everyones dead, everything is done. Ive also got enough food and water by my base that nobody will ever see, despite it being in the open across street from a town and robot vendor.

    A crashgrab from an out of touch business or an overzealous render ghost, Bethesda has certainly fallen far    … Expand

    The game is an empty broken shell of Fallout 4 - dated graphics (dated even by 2008 standards), astonishing bugs, and worst of all - no story, no purpose, no reason to play. The game doesn't even feel like a new game - it feels like someone tried to create a mod to Fallout 4 and abandoned the idea after 30 minutes of trying.

    Seriously it seems that someone inside Bethesda is planning to end the company little by little, they started destroying TESL and now this FailOut 4.76 with that old graphic engine, it is a disgrace to see that even being a derivative of the previous game instead of correct things going to get worse. Bored, lifeless, not worth even 10 dls.

    To note I have bought the Tercentennial edition of this game and the collectors edition game guide in anticipation of this game, but this game is horrible. I can play for about an hour before I feel violently ill, and need to stop. As for the limited gameplay I have gathered post launch it is ok, vats is bad and needs a fix and the CAMPS are also bad and need fixing.

    Let's start with bugs:
    You expect bugs from a BETA, right? Of course you do, it's a BETA! The problem is that not only are these bugs rampant and horrible, but the BETA didn't even have a month, and after full release the bugs are still here in the full glory! Pete Hines and his buddies at Bethesda have promised many more bugs to come, and this would be okay if we had a long early-access/BETA period, but the game is fully out already. To make things worse, Bethesda games being buggy has not only become a long running trademark, it has become their unofficial slogan.

    The story:
    When you start the game, you wake up after the vault party and everyone is gone, so it makes sense that as you go about the vault that you feel late to the event and everyone left the vault without you. The problem is you will get this feeling throughout the entire fecking game... There is no more excitement in the story as you will never meet anyone from the billions of holotapes you are forced to listen to, and you will never encounter new and quirky characters who give you a new quest. It's recording after recording after recording after recording after recording after recording after recording. You won't be doing a quest and encounter a vault full of Gary clones, you won't have to make decisions that affect the story or quest, you won't get any real surprises.

    The big issue for many, Human NPCs:
    Without Human NPCs this game is dull and boring as hell. Almost 40 square Kilometres, and only 24 human players to fill it. Human players who usually treat this game as a full MMO. This means, don't care about interaction beyond friends and squad, story doesn't really matter, and Bethesda's stupid pipe-dream of everyone taking up the roles of human NPCs with stores and interactions is a joke. It's a nice idea, but was more of a lazy decision to rush out a game and have it so all the story is delivered via recordings. This won't work outside of private strict roleplay servers, and will *NOT* work on a massive map with not even 1 person per square Kilometre. The server capacity for this game is a joke as even early-access indie games such as Rust have more players on the servers. I mean 40 square Kilometres with only 24 people and no Human NPCs for a fallout game is just a terrible idea...

    General gameplay:
    Ranged combat is sluggish, unoptimized, and just plain terrible in 3rd person. Unless you are shooting at long range, you will find aiming to be a pain with guessing how far to the side you have to aim in order to hit. Throwing knives are buggy even in 1st person at short range and with perfect line of sight to your target. Hit boxes frequently fail to connect with your attacks, and ranged attacks hitting seem to rely on RNG mechanics more than any other MMO I have played. The most exciting thing that is likely to happen during a trip is maybe a pack of glitchy dogs attack you. C.A.M.P is pathetically disappointing. All I do is move to one area, kill some mobs, and go to the next.

    Conclusion:
    The way I see it, some people at Bethesda wanted to make another Fallout game, and they had a meeting. In that meeting person NO.1 said " We want to make money with this game, how do we go about doing that? Ideas, go!". Person NO.2 replied "Well one thing we could do is cut Human NPCs out of the game and have all quests delivered via recordings. Also server capacity should be limited to 24 people, the map should be stupid big, and let's fill the world with mobs and a few boss monsters". Person NO.1 "Sounds good, should rake in millions, who cares about what the fan-base really wants?!".

    The weapons and armour have been expanded, nice survival mechanics. The graphics are great! I don't know why people are complaining about that, we don't need a giant leap in graphics for a game to be good. I loved Fallout 3 and NV graphics, and I loved the newer Fallout 4 graphics, and what Fallout 76 has isn't new, but it's just fine. The amazing map, with amazing locations to explore is fun to go about killing mobs and looting their corpses, but that's all you'll do...

    This game is just a generic bare-bones explore and kill mobs MMO with Call Of Duty server player capacity, lot's of mind-numbing audio recordings, lot's of bugs to enjoy, grindy as hell mechanics, and 40 square Kilometres of beautiful boringness to explore and kill mobs for XP and measly cap rewards. This is just a bland lower player capacity MMO that isn't really an MMO, that has a fallout skin slapped on and blessed by Crinja, so that little Fortinte kids will want to play it    … Expand

    this game completely exposes the fact that bethesda games have and will continue to be carried by modders. 76 will likely eventually become a good game due to fans creating mod servers. but right now this game is a lackluster buggy mess. do not waste your money on this right now. buy the game when it goes on sale later in its life it will have a great selection of mods then.

I recommend staying clear of this to make a statement that developers cant keep dropping half baked games broken games with little to no substance as this has been getting more and more frequent from triple a developers and is not acceptable just for a cash grab.     I have encountered 3 broken quests at this time (which is no more than 15 hours playing) - "Bureau of Tourism" which I have a link to a video capture I've made and the "Ounce of Prevention" quest where I literally have a floating quest marker which leads nowhere in between the two houses at Greg’s Mine Supply, unfortunately I didn't capture this one but you get the point. While Reddit were giving me the 24 hours of authentication time, I found another broken quest "Initiate of Mysteries" which I linked to a video I uploaded to YouTube.

    Enemies popping into existence out of nowhere - Happened to me so many times I don't even know what to say! You finish ridding the world of critters or ghouls or scorched and while I'm exploring the place, they respawn, I mean pop in right on top of me! Same level! Same loot! Same everything!

    Quests that just force themselves on my screen constantly! I just walk past some place and somehow my character knows to go in and look for something? Fine. But I DO NOT want that in my face on the HUD immediately, plus it produces a quest marker which confuses the f*** out of me and I've walked in the wrong direction before realizing my mistake too many times!

    And lastly, the world feels so empty and lifeless, I've never been so bored of first impressions! I literally forced myself to play 5 hours just now, and from crafting bench to stash box to broken quests to lifeless quest givers (If any at all) - I gotta say I've NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED IN MY LIFE!

    This isn't worth the money, I would much rather put my money into Hitman 2 or RDR2.    … Expand

Bethesda should consider swallowing their pride and consider hiring Obsidian or another half competent team of developers in the future. They did with New Vegas which was released 8 years ago and had a time span of 18 months to be completed, yet that game is still played by many to this day and is a renowned classic. Just to mention I personally don't care about the bugs as this game would still be horrendous even if it was a bug free game, this game has many issues that need to tackled going forward before we even need mention the bugs. If you're considering purchasing this game, keep your 60 bucks or whatever the price is where you reside. Bethesda should be ashamed of themselves for charging what they would for a standard AAA title for a game that should be free with microtransactions similar to Fortnite.… Expand

    First of all, the numbers of bugs and quests that are blocked because of them are quite large, I am not even talking about the events which are 1 times on 3 event, not possible to finish.

    The narative is not very interesting as we can't refer ourself to any character as there is none, the notes and holoband are an horror to read or listen to.

    The garaphical bugs are everywhere some animations does not launch properly, shadows are all black or none existent. The graphics are still really rough and can't be considered as a style of the studio. When graphism are bad we have to say it.

    Lot of mechanics are not good at all, as a french player the controls for base construction and overall gameplay are not really good, I have to find workaround to move in construction mode and I cannot move when I am lauching a grenade because the studio did not think of the shortcuts of nvidia.

    Also there was a lot of fps drop during my playtime going to 20 fps and going back to 60, 2 second after.

    To conclude, I think the game is not bad at all for the price, you can have fun on it. But it really need a lot of fix and the engine need a lot of work for the next games.    … Expand

This whole thing feels like a blatent cash grab to exploit a popular franchise. WTF was Bethesda thinking. All we wanted was fallout 4 multiplayer and instead we get absolute garbage.

    If a game isn't going to have a story, it needs to have a compelling world and environment. If it isn't going to have a compelling world and environment, it needs to have a great story. There is no story in Fallout 76, and the limitation on building structures (and the only permanent structures are those near your CAMP deployment [UPDATE: even those structures will randomly disappear without warning, it turns out]), makes building a futile waste of time. You're better off investing time into Fallout 4 settlements. Adding to this frustration is litany of poor design choices and bugs - no push to talk, no engine update (setting is in West Virginia but you can't climb up ledges when jumping at them - even DOOM lets you do this), its a social game that limits your party to four, the graphics are mediocre for the era, server crashes aren't uncommon. I really want to say something positive about the game because I love the Fallout franchise, but this honestly feels like discovering while you still care about your significant other, they've given up on the relationship.

    This game lacks story, it lacks environment, and it comes with an unruly bucket of bugs from an outdated engine that needed to be put out to pasture after Skyrim. After the first day of playing it the only motivation I had for keeping at it was to see if it ever got compelling in its own right besides having Fallout in the title. It doesn't. This is the kind of work I'd expect, and be excited for, if it came from community modders, for free. This is not a AAA title release. Save your money for then it's 10 dollars.

I like to compare that to helping your dad fix the car, by handing him tools. There are no NPC's in the game or anything to do, and for an open world game like Fallout 76, that is inexcusable.     I am a fan of the fallout saga and bethesda but they have disappointed me massively with this game, bad controls due to bad port from consoles, awful graphics, so many bugs, bad animations, no npcs, empty world, bad physics, boring quests and dialogues. Just the worst game so far by bethesda, I thought they were a good company but they lost all my respect with this "game".

    This game is so bad. The installer does not work. The game has no NPCs. The game has no characters. There are endless bugs. There are micro transactions. No mods. No private servers. PVP is completely broken. This is so bad its humiliating. I have played every single Bethesda game and this is beyond redemption its so bad.

    Being a big Fallout fan I was willing to give this a go but talk about buyers remorse as this has got to be THE worst Fallout game I have ever played - and that includes that one they released on the PS2.

    Graphics are a decade old, interface is anti-intuative, combat is boring, horrid AI, locked FPS @ 63, and getting that can be a chore and and and.

    Too many bugs at launch. It would be quicker to list the things that are not broken. Which is a very short list.

    They took an ancient single player gaming engine and forced it into something it is not and it didn't work. The code is so bad, some XBOX players report it overheats and shuts down their system. Some kind of memory leak or CPU loop. I suspect that many of the problems are technically unfix-able. If they could open up the game to modders, since it is based on the FO4 game, things could quickly be brought under control and an OK game might emerge. Thing is, that will not happen for a year and only on private servers which they will charge for.

    Some good elements when playing with friends, if you can get that feature to work, since it is really buggie. But even this system is woefully broken. To do a quest together, you both need to be at the same point in the quest, otherwise only one member benefits.

    In it's current state, it is unplayable and a 3/10 is generous. 10 years ago, fix all the bugs and I would consider a 6/10. By today's standards, it just does not make the grade -

    I will follow the game to see if they can bash it into something reasonable, or wait to see if private servers are worth the effort. I suspect the cost of this will drop and servers will be free or privately hosted - charging money for this game is borderline criminal.    … Expand

    I was sold on the awesome setting of the Fallout universe. Then Fo76 just crapped all over it. This is THE biggest waste of money I can ever recall spending money on and I purchased Battlecruiser 3000AD.

    *No story
    *Terrible enemy AI
    *Terrible gun play
    *Single player engine modified for MP with all the Bethesda bugs

    Avoid this like the plague.

    1. The game is a bug riddled mess. The engine is outdated and is an unholy frankenstein-ian monster cobbled together that was never meant to do what Bethesda is trying to make it do. Frankly, its not good at anything. Its neither pretty, nor plays smoothly, nor is the combat engaging or fun. Enemies warp around and get stuck on objects and terrain constantly and you'll miss shots constantly even when aiming center of mass because the game has just decided you shouldn't be able to win. Its unacceptable for a "AAA" quality game studio to still be using this garbage. Stop.

    2. Your stash, the ONLY place you can store items, is limited to 400 lbs of equip. That may sound like a lot, but you'll fill it within a couple hours of gameplay. The sheer amount of junk needed to accomplish any amount of crafting will fill it up and leave you no space left for ammo, armor, weapons, meds, food, or anything else. Its unacceptable. The ENTIRE point of Bethesda-style sandbox RPG's is "grab everything" and they've broken that. I'm stunned.

    3. Base building, which is supposed to be one of the big draws of the game, is busted. Because of the small build area, and a ridiculously low cap on the size of your base, you'll never accomplish anything interesting. Just like the stash, its too limited in scope to matter. You'll wind up building 4 walls and a roof and put your stash inside and never visit it again. Also, bugged to **** as usual.

    4. The overhauled leveling/perk system is boring and anemic. I feel no more powerful at 25 than I did at 1. Perks are all mostly meaningless and give some insignificant bonus to a very specific situation that wont help you at all.

    5. Enemies are either so overwhelmingly powerful you cannot possibly face them (I suppose intended to be attacked as part of a group, lol more on that later) or so weak you could knock them over with a feather.

    6. The multiplayer. The map is so huge you'll never meet anyone doing the same thing you are or at your level. You aren't going to find people interested in grouping because FALLOUT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY and nobody wants to do it. Its a multiplayer single player game.

    7. PVP doesn't matter. Theres no reason to do it. You can "duel" by shooting another person and if they shoot back you fight. Man, what a design.

    8. Story doesn't exist. I wrote better stories in my 5th grade english class. There are no npc's, no dialogue, just a big open empty world for you to explore to find more bugs.

    If you love love love Fallout and just have to experience it, go into it prepared to be let down. I've played for 4 days now and I'd rather be playing Red Dead 2, an actual open world game that doesn't blow.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
