    A broken misshapen abortion masquerading around as an actual complete video game is what you'll get by making the poor decision of buying this game. Though Bethesda is notorious for buggy installments within both their Elder Scrolls and Fallout Series this game takes the cake for not only being buggy to the point of inoperable but also a hollow uninspired take on what a multiplayer FalloutA broken misshapen abortion masquerading around as an actual complete video game is what you'll get by making the poor decision of buying this game.     I've been playing Bethesda games since Morrowind and i think Fallout 76 is game development at its laziest and a big FY to the fans. Fallout 76 is a glorified Fallout 4 mod with a AAA-pricetag.

    There are no human NPCs in Fallout 76. The only humans you will find are other players. You get quests through holotapes, robot NPCs, among others. This game relies solely on Bethesda's famed "environmental" storytelling, which is as environmental as having a voice telling you what you are seeing. That is because Bethesda's "environmental" storytelling consists of nothing but notes and journals and holotapes and terminals, a far cry from the truly environmental storytelling of Fallout 1, where you can find an abandoned facility that lets you piece together what happened there just by looking around the environment, finding dead bodies, unopened doors, unactivated machinery, etc.

    Fallout 76 is not a good RPG. As such, it fails as a Fallout game. But what about the game part? The simplicity of the quests in this game mean that, unless you are really, REALLY looking forward to spending hundreds of hours doing nothing but fetch quests, base building and PvP that has been nerfed because "griefing is bad in a post-apocalyptic videogame", then the odds are you will hate this game.

    I give this a 5 because it is simply a mediocre game by any metric of the imagination, but in reality a 1 would be more fitting, as it is an absolute disgrace as a Fallout game, and a bad joke as a multiplayer game.    … Expand

    The game, at its very core, is a boring slog of inane missions which are there as an extremely dull distraction from an empty and lackluster world. If the premise of the "game" you are attempting to sell relies primarily playing with friends, then the game needs to provide an interesting environment in which these experiences can happen in. This game utterly fails at that.

    The game is a waste of time. Full of bugs and robots without a story or enjoyable characters. Even if you can form a team it is still messy to play. Graphics are old and lighting is weird. I think this was an experiment of Bethesda on if they could sell the worst game with right marketing tactics. Another Dawn of War 3 case at best.

It's definitively the worst Fallout title, and that's including the horrible hack 'n slash Brotherhood of Steel game from back in the day. Trust lost.     - Texture bugs, graphical issues, general ugliness
    - Similar bugs from Fallout 4 copied and pasted in
    - Cash shop / microtransactions "muh games as a service"
    - Reused assets from Skyrim (Dragons... in Fallout. What?)
    - No Ultrawide support on PC
    - The UI is tied to FOV. No slider because of this.
    - Poor servers that frequently disconnect.
    - Progress can be lost easily from server disconnects.
    - Uninspired story, given through lifeless audio logs (which can be several minutes long and cannot be paused)
    - VATs is completely broken and doesn't belong in the game at all, basically just an auto aim system that at best, snaps to enemies and at worst is immersion breaking and breaks the laws of physics to bend bullets.
    - Nonexistent anti-cheat/scripting protection
    - No push to talk, mics always on no matter what
    - Game isn't on Steam so you can't refund it AND you have to use Bethesda's launcher. Disgusting

    The list goes on and on, this is just not an acceptable product at all. I love Fallout. This is a miserable excuse of a game. Thankfully, I didn't buy it!    … Expand

    Jokes aside, fallout 76 is a complete mess! And that statement is not even close to an exaggeration.

    That's just the technical side of things though and maybe bethesda will fix it, maybe...
    One thing that bethesda can't fix is the empty open world, not without a massive patch that completely changes everything in the game, umm sorry did I say everything? 'massive patch that changes the game'. fallout 76 is bethesda's attempt to join the "Games as a service" movement.
    Also, the engine hasn't aged well, bethesda seriously needs to develop a new engine for it's open world games.
    Anyway, I can't recommend fallout 76 unless you wanna waste your $60 and question your life decisions.    … Expand

    As for the game itself, its crap.     Whereas in the case of Fallout 76 even the most subtle feeling of gloom and doom is totally absent. It's like venturing into a failed fallout 4 alpha project.

    Sad and pathetic. I'll try my best to forget this.

    First and foremost is that the world is EMPTY! After looking for hours for a civilization, I found nothing. Not a single place that could pass for a settlement. There are no NPCs for you to interact with. There's nothing to give the game life. It literally throws a bunch of random players together and says "have at." The quests are boring and when you go farming monsters, they respawn faster than MMORPGs.

    Now let's look at story. The story is this: follow the overseer, but we're not going to give any sort of guidance or hints, or anything. It's like playing the original Legend of Zelda with no shops, old men and women, or just about anything else that you can interact with but it's on a map the size of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and dead enemies come back before you get a chance to get across the screen.

    Next we have the glitches. Now Bethesda games have always been buggy. At this time, we expect their games to have a lot of bugs in them. Never before has any of their games done what Fallout 76 does. They've never completely destroyed what minuscule amount of immersion you might have with Fallout 76 by having random burned corpses and Brahamin spawn with their asses hanging out of ovens. This may be comical at first, but after seeing it repeated over and over again, it destroys your experience if you're even able to have one.

    This game is purely meant for online multiplayer. It's honestly the only way that you're going to get any sort of enjoyment at all out of this game. The bad thing is that the multiplayer on PC and PS4 is completely unstable. The EXTREMELY bad and dangerous thing is that in both PC and PS4 versions, Bethesda makes absolutely no attempt to secure your IP address or account information. The information is unencrypted and anyone with the most basic transfer interception software will get full access to PSN/Steam user information, game license information, IP addresses and whatever else they want to pull up on you or anyone else in the session. Bethesda does absolutely nothing to protect you while you play this game.

    Overall, Fallout 76 was a game that I expected to have bugs, but still be fun and exciting while keeping true to the Fallout experience. What I got was barely functioning piece of **** that has nothing to do with Fallout other than being set in a wasteland and having the Fallout brand name. When I found out about the completely open user information for everyone in a session, I immediately deleted my copies and changed all my passwords.

    This game was a complete waste of money. I will give Bethesda one last shot with Elder Scrolls 6. If they do to that, what they did with Fallout 76, I'll be absolutely livid and will never purchase anything made by them again.    … Expand

    feels and looks like a 2009 game.. seriously. ugly textures, character design from the early ps3 era, boring, lifeless, awful shooting mechanics, runs like ass, *COSTS 60$*

    now Fallout 4 was meh but atleast it had some story and choices (some) it was just as ugly, but here? its all the bad parts of 4 without any of the good.

    Trying to love this game since its release. The concept is good - but gods! how bad the execution is!

    Stay away from this game. Even if it would be the last multiplayer-only game in the world - just stay away.

    The negative reviews are very much deserved for this game. it's on an engine that is over a decade old and was made for single player games. Many of the bugs in this game have existed for years in the past bugthesdas games and now people are telling me they are finally going to fix them, I find that hard to believe. The quests were boring, the map was fun to loo at..until you realize that theres really nothing in it. No funny side encounters or mysterious side quests and npcs....just nothing and that makes this hands down the most boring game Ive ever played in my life.… Expand

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

    An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
