"Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers"? ROFL
Interface and control are made for consoles.
No settings in tactics as DA:O and DA: 2
    Only 8 active skills.
This is not a complete list ^^

    What I liked:
    * Morality system which gives you another reason to play again.
    * The "Dragon Age Keep" which lets you tailor past decisions you would have made in Dragon Age 1 & 2 before integrating it to Inquisition. * Mostly entertaining and well voiced dialogues. What I didn't like: * Maps are way too big that you waste most of your time just to find how far you can go before you

    What I didn't like:
    * Maps are way too big that you waste most of your time just to find how far you can go before you reach the invisible wall.
    * Most side quests are just collecting items.
    * Bugs as many as the collection quests and there is yet to be a patch 2 weeks after launch.
    * Instability issues.
    * Boring and samey Armor designs.
    * Overused main theme.
    * Combat system that shies away from becoming a full pledged skill and reflects based action RPG.

Dragon Age Inquisition unleashes you into a massive world, sprinkled with a generous serving of lore to read, well voiced conversations and a ton of collectibles and even more collectibles.
Needless to say, this game is packed with content. If only half of that content was meaningful.

    The good:

Beautiful environments that do not repeat as in some previous BioWare titles. Excellent new engine. Quality new characters (Sera and Dorian) and return of Varric, the best character from DAII. Epic scale storytelling. Great voice acting from Alix Wilton Regan and new companions. No "female armor" issue and doesn't capitulate to misogynist male gamers like most RPG titles.

    The bad:

Less actual quality quest time than any previous BioWare game, replaced with time wasting fluff quests.
Environments are huge but entirely lacking in interesting or meaningful content.
No real cities (Val Royeau is just a cheap shell.)
Cardboard protagonist with dull dialogue and essentially no background, history, or family. A huge contrast from Hawke, who, with Bethany and her family, were among the most vibrant characters of DAII. Also a bad contrast from DAO, where background felt like it mattered. The deadness of the protagonist also means her interactions with other NPCs are less believable.
Outside of the main cast, most NPCs are of the one-dimensional Elder Scrolls type.
Important choices from DAII (particularly Mages vs Templars) have essentially no impact on anything here.
Console-esque gameplay and total disregard for PC gamers regarding controls.

    In short:

BioWare is milking out on the trend towards huge environments (at the expense of interesting ones), timewasting quests, mindless gameplay, and console domination, while attempting to retain some vestige of their earlier work. In the end we get a game I still like better than Skyrim, but that is considerably worse than even Dragon Age II.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One word: Disappointment

During the developpement we've been promised a true PC game. By "PC gamers for PC gamers", "Ultimate PC legacy" is what Mike Laidlaw said. Well, the game was released, and we've been lied to. The UI screams console in every aspect, endless drop down lists, bad design choices and worst of all the controls are just the gamepad mapped to the keyboard, you can't assign your own keybinds to the mouse. Also no autoattack, you have to hold a button for that, on PC.
On the side of TAC cam (just like in origins they've said), it's completely useless. It uses the same mechanics as on consoles, it's blocked by terrain, yes fighting in the woods is a chore, fighting in a location with a ceiling, aside from foot fetishists, is also a chore.
No more tactics, no more stats (you don't get stat points to assign), the game is a shadow of its predecessors.

Don't get me wrong, on the story side it's gorgeous. Plenty of dialogues, exploration and the companions are nicely written. But playing the game as it is now is a chore, it's just no fun with such broken game mechanics.

DAI is a wonderful game with an incredible amount of content, but the awful and illogical controls (due to a half assed console port) prevent it to be the best RPG to date. Thankfully this is something Bioware can fix with a patch, the sooner the better.

Pros: Despite all of the cons I've written I really love the game. The story is quite good for my taste, the gam eplay is pretty neat. The world is huge, although a bit empty. The companions are the most interesting out of the 3 Dragon Age games (personal opinion). The game feels and looks amazing when it decides to run smooth for more than 20 minutes.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the game thanks to the cons section of my rant. I definitely regret pre ordering this AAA bug/crash/stutter fest.
I would up my score once the majority of the problems are fixed. Till then I can't recommend the game to anyone. Please, wait for a patch or two or for the GOTY edition before buying.

P.S. Seems that there are no games made with the Frostbite 3 engine that suffer from massive technical problems upon release.

This game is not playable at this moment on the PC, the frame rates are very inconsistent and there are large amount of stuttering. I was running this game on GTX 780, I was getting 20-40 frames playing this game on medium setting

The game is extremely clunky, the combat has took a giant step backwards. You have to mass click if you want to auto attack because on console that's normal for them, but they forced it on PC users which makes no sense and
restrict what you can do in game. It hurts my wrist just playing this game. If you're playing a warrior and you knock someone back and you're holding down attack button because your hand hurt, too bad now they're out of range
and you're waiting out a long period of pointless animations. If you're playing a range class, have fun spamming click button like you're playing minesweeper or something
No longer can you click and move because that doesn't exist on consoles. If you click anywhere your character does their attack animation which is very long so you're sitting there wasting time. No longer can you click on loot
to pick them up because that doesn't exist on consoles so you're forced to run up to them and click open button which is so daft as to why they decided this should be forced on PC players. And if you miss click you're attacking
and waiting out the animation again). Used to holding down mouse button to change your camera angle? Too bad watch this attack animation for couple seconds. Can't see the rift because it's bloody in the sky and you want to change
your camera angle? Watch this cool attack animation.
Oh, the AI is stupid, have fun issuing the same command for your party over and over and over again because they have some kind of short term memory problem and refuse to do what's ordered. Telling your ranged character to get out
of melee range they will run back into melee range because of unknown reasons. Revive teammates? Haha I rather auto attack! Thanks computer.
The menu is unsorted mess, have no clue what is going on there. It's DA:O style with fair amount of items, but unable to sort though as it uses a weird DA:2 menu.
Camera control and FPS issues aside it plays like an MMO theme park with tons and tons of generic fetch x number of y things, or kill z things quests padded into the game as filler content.Heck it makes Skyrim feel like a story-telling masterpiece.
And the ending - lets just say it is only slightly better than the 3 color ME3 ending that Bioware initially dished out.
Bottom line - don't buy this game if you expect to play this game on a pc with keyboard and mouse, don't buy this game if you loved Dragon Age : Origins.

You can tell it is somewhat simplified to accommodate the consoles. But nevertheless it isn't something that is game breaking, just gets a little bit to get use to. Some of the combat feels clunky especially if you're playing a two-handed weapon warrior. I must admit the world map and minimap pretty much suck. Hopefully mods will work for this game.

The graphics performance is also somewhat of an issue as well. My PC can run a lot of new games pretty well but for whatever reason it kind of struggles in certain areas in the game especially outdoors. Bioware has said the upcoming first patch will address performance issues but I guess we will see whenever it gets released.

A friend and I bought this game for the PC, and after playing it for 2 hours she decided it was trash and returned it. I decided to play it all the way through because I was a huge DA1 fan and I heard from multiple sources that this was a return to that style.

It is not at all. I wont even complain about the combat and how clunky it is, or how they just give you a cookie cutter group

I wont even complain about the combat and how clunky it is, or how they just give you a cookie cutter group to start the game with (lazy story design everywhere).

But the RPG aspects of the game let me down so hard, they throw you into a crusader as this inqusition basically out of no where and have you running garbage peasant missions with little to no control over the choices you make. Its like a bad World of Warcraft questing system now where I go collect trash and drop banners everywhere to spread my crappy inquisition around. The dialogue with your characters is basically relegated off to the back end and you really only get to chat with people in haven. The camp fire chit chat and any sort of personal connection you could have made are completely dead and you really don't have the chance to grow on any of these characters because you just hate them so much. The game feels tedious and you'll find your self bored of doing nothing but running around looking for trash on the ground rather than anything epic or interesting. You'll get to level 10 before you even dream of meeting another person and you'll be in the same crappy mountain hinterlands the entire time unless you really try and find other things to do.

This game was a huge let down and I wish i had returned it 2 hours after i bought it as well. Bio Ware is dead, and EA proves that anything it touches is garbage.

Can we all agree that Origin is also the worst thing ever?

This game made me want to play wow. - It painfully reminds of MMO. The grind is enjoyable but this game doesn't make it more enjoyable than wow makes it.

Let me explain this bit - its like a game can't figure out whether it wants more content in its side quests to make it feel like a rich story driven RPG or less content to make it a fast-paced grind that doesn't bore you and focuses you on the action and exploring the world without constraining you too much.

So what it essentially does - is both - Tries to put boring conversation that give you 5 options to investigate and then asks you to go to A to kill 5 Bs and after you are done - it just gives you "THANK YOU". No reason for why you asked those 5 questions - the npc will never talk to you again apart from to say "Hi, inquisitor". Nor will anything you did for him matter beyond you getting some xp and some influence that aren't even needed as you can just as easily buy them from a merchant in a 100 times bigger quantity.

So I felt like I had no reason to play this over wow. The fact that I felt that way should tell you just how unimaginative the side quests are.

I haven't seen other people complain about it much, but it bothers me a lot. Where are the quests that feel meaningful? Like the quest in the DA:O Alienage where I had to deal with a bunch of slavers? Or the quest where you had a chance to help out an elf by taking his virginity or to help him get a girlfriend? Or in DA:2 which many said was a bad game - the side quests included you dealing with a criminal who was mentally insane and thought demons were telling him to kill girls because they were beautiful. Or where are any sidequests at all that influence main story? They did that in mass effect - where if you screw up certain amount of sidequests - alliance between Geth and Quarians becomes impossible. Or where you actually had a chance to let the cerberus bomb explode - by entirely ignoring that piece of content. Thus dooming hundreds of krogan.

May be I didn't get that far in the game? But I'm 70 hours in and I'm running around some yellow coloured halla to try and get its AI to go where I want it to go... I'm really not enjoying it at all. I don't know if its because I'm a completionist and don't feel happy until I clear every single quest in a location, but in no other game did it feel like too much of a chore. Not even in WoW.

What's an RPG game that doesn't give you the ability to customize your attributes? The ability trees are worse than DA2 and the combat is not fun at all. Kingdom of Amular is more fun to play than DAI. Atleast the combat in Kingdom of Amular was fun with the fate shift and the cinematic fate kills. DAI felt like a wanna be Skyrim than couldn't come close to measuring up. Bottom line is DAI isn't worthy of being in the Dragon Age franchise...and I feel I've wasted my money. But while you can flirt with them, you can't have relationships with them. I have nothing against homosexual relationships as long as you don't stick it right into my face, but when you have just two straight girls in the whole game, ahd one of them is quite mannish, and the other one is not even in your party, while homosexual relationships have multiple variants and even a huge qunari, I think it is straight guys whose rights are oppressed here
    2. There are NO interesting side missions in the whole game. You might think it is exaggeration, but I tried them all. You go to put flowers on the elf spouse grave and you start thinking: Man, it might be a trap or,or the dead spirit will rise and tell you that the husband killed her, and you will have an opportunity to pick a side. But no, you just go to this grave, click on it to put flowers, and return...That is what you get out of every side quest in the game. You might think about going just main missions then. Who cares, if the story is good. But there are only that many missions here (somewhat about 7). And between them you will still have to go on boring fetch activities or even worse - collect shards by just walking around the map and clicking on these shards, to collect enough power to unlock another story mission.
    3. Combat is not meaningless, but it is just repetitive. If someone tells you different it means they just CHOSE to try different approaches for fun, while they still could keep spamming one tactics to win every...single...battle.

Why just three things? There are many problems: meaningless horse, controls issue, general bugs etc..
The reason is that if you like aestethics, plot, or just universe, you might easily forget about small problems, but the three major failures I mentioned earlier are game breaking for most people.
If you think I like spraying dirt over popular franchise, I don't. It was one of the most anticipated games for me. And I picked this one from many other games, when I could buy just one . I am not angry. I am just sad, I witnessed the day when Bioware became irrelevant among players. Compare player ratings with those of critics and you'll see that this company is just like Ubusoft now: "as long as you eat it we don't care. Art? Never heard of it.". And the most annoying thing is no professional critic mentioned these problems. If they talk about it, it is as if it was a simple bug:"Oh,well, the game is 80 hours, but 65 out of them you are going to spend in boring stuff as if it was poor MMO, but still it is 80 hours and it has dragons!".

The face-posing definitely is not as good as the previous or Mass effect series but I'm not surprised due to changing engines. The game also has a few bugs and issues that have caused me to die 3 times and also redo a 40 minute mission from start. The game also has crashed on me a few times. The game also doesn't close as seamlessly as it should (if you play BF4 you'll know what I mean).

But the above issues have only been minor nuisances to someone like me and I really do feel like this is one of the true "next-gen" games that have been released. Graphics and environments are beautifully crafted, game play is SOLID. I have Far Cry 4 and I haven't even started playing it yet because of how bad I want to play this.

I felt like a lot of games sucked this year (I was thinking I was losing interest in gaming due to getting older) but this game reminds me of why I love to play!

The game engine also has performance issues on PC, and seems to be poorly optimized.

However, what the game can offer matches the problems by far; when the game gets going, it does so very well. In the writing department, this game absolutely shines. The story's twists and turns takes the player through a host of memorable moments, the character gallery is rich and enjoyable, and the dialogue is for the most part stellar.

Visually, the game is pleasing to the eye. It's by no means an ambitious game for a graphical point of view (although you wouldn't know it from hearing my GTX 780 Ti struggle with it), but the aesthetic style of the game is quite appealing. Some points do need deducting for character animations during conversations, where the game occasionally gives off a dollhousey vibe, threatening the immersion the game needs so badly.

The combat system is relatively straightforward and similar to Dragon Age II. Combat flows well and holds plenty of challenges, but can get cluttered and chaotic. Character creation and advancement has been dumbed down, seemingly for mainstream appeal, and are at this point so bare bones that there's little left.

To sum up, DA: Inquisition is a jewel, but not one without its flaws. On the technical side of things there are some problems, and the game needs a few hours to get going. Yet the game's strong points far outweigh the issues, with a rich RPG filled to the brim with content and masterful writing. At it's best, Inquisition is one of BioWare's best, and the strongest of the series. The game is heartily recommended, although it is suggested getting the game on console, as the PC port struggles mightily with performance issues.

Dragon Age Inquisition is one of the best RPG games of this generation, it successfully blends an action oriented third person style of gameplay with traditional dungeon crawler elements and wraps it all up within an epic and emotional 40 hour adventure through the stunning universe of Thedas.
Here is a breakdown of all the elements of the game
    Story: 8/10
The story of the game is cliched in a "There's a bad guy out to destroy the world, we must stop him" kind of way but that can be said about Mass Effect 2 and other Bioware games alike. What's important is the execution as you will quickly forget that the story is cliched because the story is told with so much charm and pizazz (mostly because of the characters) that you can't help but feel epic as you gather your band of merry misfits to save the world from a demon invasion.
    Characters: 8/10
The characters in a Bioware game are like the woodwork structuring within a house, they hold it up and carry the game. In this game the characters for the most part are well written and most importantly unique. Each character has his or her own agenda and a personality, they are all very fleshed-out from their appearance to their history you'll want to believe they're real.
Several characters however you'll find are kind of stereotypical and just bland but then there are those that are wacky and fun, exciting and full of personality. You'll know which ones when you see them.
    Look/Feel: 9/10
The graphics run on the Frostbite Engine which also powers the Battlefield games. This makes the game look absolutely gorgeous and it really shines through in the character detail and in the environment. The landscapes in this game are all breathtakingly beautiful in their own way as you traverse through bogs, deserts, forests, snowy mountains, rocky plains and stormy coasts.
    Controls: 9/10
Playing a PC port is always going to be a bit wonky but it's really not so hard to get use to. You'll be using your mouse to interact with objects but using your keyboard to control both your character and the camera which can be awkward at first but unless you have the coordination of a blind bat you'll get used to it too.
    Combat: 9/10
There seems to be alot of controversy over the combat system. So yes, the combat mixes both action and tactical elements, you can either sit in third person or go pause the game and go birds eye so you can issue commands to all your team mates and take a more strategic approach.
Personally I liked this, being able to be close up with the action as I hack and slash as well as being able to take a step back and think strategically about the best course of action against an enemy.
Your abilities are all satisfying to use and combat itself is smooth and fun, I definitely suggest that you constantly switch between all your party members as this will keep every battle interesting.
The only downside is the tactical camera as you will have to adjust and fiddle with it when you're indoors.
    Gameplay: 9/10
You'll be spending most of the game trying to gain power and influence for your empire which can be attained in a number of ways. From the war table in which you play the role of a king/queen issuing orders to your spies, soldiers and your diplomats. You will also of course attain power and influence yourself by completing quests for people, which gives meaning to what would otherwise be 'filler' quests.
    AI: 7/10
This mostly applies for the way your companions follow you around. Your companions are sometimes quite stupid, especially during fights as there's been times where my warrior is in the front lines fighting 1 v 5 and my other warrior is staring at a rock.
Issuing commands in tactical mode can also sometimes not work and may require multiple attempts which can be frustrating. But is cases like that just take control of that character and do it yourself which is all the more rewarding than watching a computer do it.
Your companions follow you around just fine, its kind of funny actually seeing them all flock towards you whenever you take a step. You won't ever have to worry about them getting 'lost' like in Skyrim because they will drop out of the sky and teleport to you whenever they can't directly follow you somewhere. Which takes away immersion but at least you won't ever have to look back to make sure your archer is not spazzing out as he gets stuck between two boulders.
    Sound: 10/10
The voice acting is phenomenal and really brings each character to life and makes their personality all the more believable.
The way every ability sounds make them so satisfying to use. E.g. when you shield bash, an energetic and thunderous cracking sound plays making you feel powerful as you knock your enemy to the ground.
The sound track adds a whole new dimension of emotion to the game especially during the cut scenes, the theme "The Dawn Will Come" is a sombre tune that sends chills down your spine as it is mournful yet inspiring at the same time.

This game is a travesty when it comes to controls - the camera cannot be zoomed far enough, it cannot be angled to look up (as when I have to close a rift hovering 30 feet in the air). Ability targetting is so bad that I have trouble managing 12 abilities between 4 characters, while in other games I could easily manage 40.

When a battle takes place in the woods, or in a cave or under a bridge, it turns into a clusterf*ck, where I can't really see who is who, and definitely cannot pull 4+enemies from my party using a single character with a taunt.

Without tactical camera, this game can be played on easy, maybe normal difficulty, otherwise the party AI is retarded - it would rather blow all of it's load on a friggin sheep that got aggroed by an AOE blast than on actual enemies. But what is the point of all these RPG character advancement if I have to play a game on easy?

Exploration seems good so far, faction management shows promise, dialogue is ok, but the combat system is dreadful

I was somewhat sceptical as the pre -release footage indicated to me that BIoware took more from DA 2 than they did from Origins (including the questionable art style). That being said, this is a far, far better game than DA 2, and does not deserve the number of zero scores it is getting here.

I am playing on PC and yes, it is glitchy and crash prone (Sandybridge i7 2600K, 8 gig of RAM and 4GB Nvidia 680 playing at 2560x1440) - though I am playing it with an xbox controller so cannot comment on the KB/M controls. Yet, despite that I would still give it an 8/10 (I am only raising that to 10 to counter the number of unfair zero's it has been getting. The game is fin, has epic scope and lots to do. I do not find it a single player MMO as some have suggested - it is no Kingdom's of Amalur for me, as the story and characters draw you in and keep me interested in the world (something that KOA singularly failed to do).

If you are on the fence about this game - give it a go. I have been pleasantly surprised, My interest in Dragon Age dies when they released DA2 but I am back in the world of Thedas and loving it,

It was exactly the same kind of disappointment as The Elder Scrolls Online. Inquisition really looks like it was conceived as MMO that is turned into single player at the end. It is like a very complex apparatus made of very cheap plastic. I will finish the game, but I am not enjoying it like I enjoyed DA:O or even DA 2. I started up the game for the first time 2 hours ago. When I first started it up, I noticed some extremely minimalistic menus: maybe 4 options displayed under each menu item with scrolling required to see them all. The font was abnormally large, as if the developers assumed I were losing my vision and needed jumbo fonts.

When I began playing, the very first thing I experienced was a framerate between 20 and 70 frames per second. That huge variation is a big red flag for me. It suggests optimization problems.

Second were the controls. This is obviously a console-only game. Controls for the mouse are extremely limited and frustrating. Baffling choices for default control mappings (especially comparing it to the superb control mappings of the previous 2 games), a camera that can only be controlled by a keyboard when in tactical mode, a lot of functionality removed from the game like auto attacking and clicking to move to a location.

I have already requested and received a refund for this and I will purchase another bioware game in the future if they choose to deign games with PCs in mind rather than just a bandaid afterthought.

The first issue I had is the DRM. The DRM is the protection a game uses to keep people from pirating their game. The problem is, people who purchase the game shouldn't notice the DRM. I did because I was unable to play it for the first week after shelling out my $50. I didn't leave a review then because I felt that would be petty.

Once i finally got in, the game was clunky and boring.

Once i finally got in, the game was clunky and boring. Blah, blah, blah, blah.. Something. Something. Something dragons. I have never been so disinterested in an RPG so fast. It was quite impressive how little i cared about whatever EA was trying to portray with their "story". The combat is "okay", but i'm not willing to endure the pointless filler missions to have combat. The writing was also "okay" but unfortunately, it also required that i endure more filler.

R.I.P Dragon Age series. EA is the devil. I remember when I was young and EA was an awesome company that made awesome games. Their first act of evil was monopolizing NFL games so that they could produce piles of crap at a steady rate of once a year at the gamers' expense. Everything that they do is an attempt to maximize their profits. They fail to realize, if you take pride in your product and make sure that your quality is priority, the profits will take care of themselves.

EA sure knows how to kill the things we love in a legal fashion. They should spend less money paying off critics to pretend like their game is good and more money on quality control and experienced developers. I honestly feel like a 2/10 is generous. All we can do now is hope that the project managers and executives at EA die in an awful car crash in which they don't succumb to the initial impact but succumb to the fire.

The only things that I do not like are the time wasting controls in the game. In game we can close up rifts and decipher constellations and open up encrypted doors under time constraints. But climbing a simple mound completely stumps us.

    It doesn't make sense.

Also, some of the sacrifices we make are so intense that I'd rather have another option. I don't like losing party members that I believe are critical to the flow of the game and the intensive immersion and time wasting of the game itself, will only make me want to play it once. For a person playing this game casual, they could easily play it for 3 years and never fully complete the game itself.

It would be nice to have better save points in the game in order to be able to back track on a decision made previously in a split moment.

It makes for interesting battles, especially against those pesky dragons. Of course, as you progress through to the end, dragons eventually become more sport than game-ending frustration but your first foray into dragon slaying might make you feel like breaking your controller.

Graphically, it's beautiful... as long as your PC can handle it. One thing I do appreciate is the resolution slider (wish more games had this!) which allows you to custom tweak the variables along side the regular options. This is a HUGE game, and 150 hours in, I still haven't fully explored every area, and there are still a few main quests left. That's some pretty good bang for your buck. It definitely needs a good patch to fix some of the issues, but after all this time it only crashed twice (after LOOOONG play sessions) so I'd say it's fairly stable. Final verdict: get it and start exploring. Taking one point off for bugs, otherwise this is GOTY material for me.

Bioware: You lost the ability to create immersive games. And No, I do not think that these days games need to be shallow, easy to consume, with tons of simply time consuming side quests. The success of Skyrim and Bethesda show that the majority of RPC fans think that way.

From a performance view I have a GTX Titan and the game runs great but yes there is still room for improvement because im still not getting a solid 60 with everything max. In the end the game looks amazing and 50 frames is fine by me. I recommend buying this game hands down its stuffed with meaningful content and don't forget to leave the Hinterlands. Sure the character crafting and advancement is very console like, but this game's mechanics and questing is just too enjoyable. The visuals are spot on. They are not pushing boundaries, but are at the leading edge so that the game looks beautiful and plays the same (provided you have good hardware). Many have experienced bugs, I have not run into a single one and am playing at 5760x1080 in crossfire. Not a single crash, tear or glitch. That is remarkable to me given all the complaining around.

To be sure a character might stand on a tent, or do something impossible, but this, in my opinion is due to the novel use of verticality in the game. Because you can jump and climb, the NPCs have to be able to move to places otherwise not anticipated in an attempt to stay with you. That is not a flaw. It should not bother you.

I am about 15 hours in and am still not off the first primary objective map as they are just an unending number of things to do, each one interesting and each one worth the exp points.

To speak a bit to combat, it looks beautiful and the magics are presented in a very fun and controllable way. The only admitable problem I could see, some truly hardcore gamers may find the combat a bit too easy. For me, I only have time to drop in and out of this world, so mastery is hard. This combat is fun and intuitive, but not simple, h & s crap like DA2. It has good balance. You can make combat more or less strategic too your likely with some limitations. Overall, it is really fun.

The only complaint....WTF, bears are your ultimate nemesis, they can f-stuff up for you when you are trying to do something completely unrelated. Come on, a bear, I am running from a bear cause I know it is a fight that is gonna piss me off?! Not that you might lose, but someone is gonna need to heal, and if you are wounded heading somewhere you might run into one and the only thing you can say is WTF, a bear, now really, go away bear!

In my opinion, this a rare game where the critics have it right and the users don't. Don't hold back it is good, really good.

In my Opinion all Places should be worked into the Main Story. Why should i visit a Place in DA: Inquisition when it doesn't has anything to do with the Main Story? Its wasted Time! Of Course i will have some Fun there but i won't learn anything new about the Main Story only some minor Stuff, mostly Quest we know out of MMO's like

"some bandits did this and that...kill em please!"

The Developers said they looked at Mass Effect for DA:Inquisition but this not true at all. When i ignored Side Quests in Mass Effect, some People in the Main Story would be lost and the Ending would be negative (in other Words you "win" but will lose every team mate and die in battle).

In DA: Inquisition i could ignore 3-4 whole Places full of Quests and every damn Teammate Quest because they don't influence the ending at all and i could "win" without any problem.

As the Spoiler in the Ending Scene shows there will be at last ONE DLC to finish loose ends, what i already expected from EA but oh well....

EA and Bioware had a Chance with DAI to release a "Mass Effect in the Dragon Age Universe" and they Failed so hard that i don't know if i will replay it only to see what happens when i change some answers...

Performance: I'm running 1920x1200 with graphics quality settings at Ultra, and I'm typically getting 38-40 FPS. This gives nice gameplay, very good anti-aliasing and very nice particle effects for smoke, mist & special effects. Once I had the game hiccup and drop down to about 20 FPS, but closing and restarting fixed it. I found the color palette a little exaggerated, but overall the world is beautiful and very large.

Controls: Obviously I'm running on a PC, so my comment is about mouse and keyboard. I found the controls an odd hybrid of DA Origins and DA II, but I got the hang of it after a couple of hours although I would say the tactical view is a little hard to control compared to DAO. It took me a little longer to get the hang of the combat controls. Picking up loot is kind of a kludge. Not being able to map functionality to extra mouse buttons is an annoyance.

The Game: This is a bit of a mixed offering. There are a bunch of fetch quests that make it like an MMO, but you can ignore a lot of them if you want to. Most of the fetch quests like in to the main plot at least tenuously so they don't seem completely pointless. There's a fairly good crafting system for those who like that, but you can mostly ignore it if you want to (although you will have to collect herbs to use & upgrade your potions and grenades. The main plot line is good but not outstanding primarily because it's all kind of predictable. I did however love the political intrigue of the capital of Orlais!)

Followers: DA games wouldn't be what they are without quirky followers, and that where this game really shines. There are some tricky plot twists amongst the side quests related to your followers that I really liked - they made me think hard about some tricky ethical dilemmas. Generally I really like the followers and the writing associated with them and their individual story lines very much. The voice acting was very solid and the writing for the followers was consistently good.

Difficulty: There are 4 levels of difficulty, the easiest is really easy, and the hardest has had me dying a lot (which is what you should expect until you've mastered all the min/maxing).

Bugs: There were a few quirks: Bodies lying in mid-air in a couple of places; twice loading a game crashed the game; and the mouse going offline during dialog selection (this one happens often). None of these have affected my gameplay, or really even been a big inquisition.

    Overall rating: Very good

Just to be sure of being understood. Just my opinion.

Now, do you want to know what are the problems? Here we are:

1 - There is no chest to store the equipment. Later in the game you'll understand the absurdity of this oversight
2 - Characters are not so customizable. You can choose your skills, but not how to custom your abilities, because points are automatically committed
3 - Some design choices are ridiculous, as weapons and shields "attacked" by magic in the back of the characters without sheaths or other supports. Very "old school fashion"
4 - It's frostbite 3. Be warned. To run the game at max graphics, you need a serious pc.
5 - It's frostbite 3. Sometimes, minor graphics glitch may occur. Sometimes.
6 - The game is huge. HUGE. Sometimes you may feel a little disoriented.

From this point on, is a classic Bioware game. Great story and great characters. Very good graphic and very funny/good gameplay. I have the pc version, the console version may be a different experience.

Buy it. If you are not sure, wait for some offer. But soon or later, buy it.

In short - the game is solid but falls short of expectations. It tries to blend good old crpg , tactical gameplay and console action adventure elements to appeal to a much broader, casual audience but doesn't quite manage to pull that off. Not without diminishing returns to the core values of its RPG roots.

Not without diminishing returns to the core values of its RPG roots.

It is unfortunate to see a once mighty RPG developer fall from grace so much (they must have lost a lot of their once key staff and of course their original founders/owners who have all left during this EA chapter) in their attempt to not appeal to their core audience, but instead expand into a new one, and while on that quest they inevitably fall into the hands of Q&A focus tested check-box ticking game crafting. The end result is a game that feels like a 3rd Person action game with action too sparse to justify that title and mmorpg alike combat elements (and a LOT of mmorpg type quests and grind). The story to an extent, but mostly combat, dialogue and characters never quite manage to reach the heights and standards set by Dragon Age Origins.

The game is a decent enough port, buggy as of today still, but that's to be expected in large RPGs. Bad controls, decent story, good amount of content but with too much filler (I'd say there's a 1 to 4 ratio of story to filler content) Performance on windows 8.1 is pretty good, abysmal on windows 7. Even on quad core + systems if you are running on Windows 7 expect excessive stuttering animations and frequent framerate drops.

Inquisition screams console port from a mile away. From the lackluster tactical options and limited to 5 slots only - that might as well not exist - to the console UI, and the lack of a functional tactical camera (what is there is a zoomed in - dual analog stick version that doesn't allow much control or proper overview of the combat, continuously forcing the player back into 3rd person action camera for a better view).

As for the characters and the writing outside of the main story there aren't many great ones here, a couple of characters manage to stand out but that's pretty much it. By the end of the game I couldn't help but feel let down, and a little annoyed by the sheer amount of the somewhat forced sexual content, be it straight or gay, it was too much to take in as a whole, and especially hard when trying to avoid it order to maintain your immersion with the story. Another thing that doesn't quite manage to justify the RPG aspect of DA:I's description, and even though it is to be expected to some extent in a Bioware game, is the lack of different outcomes based on dialogue choices. All one can do is change the approval rating, with the usually 3 options determining not the outcome of the response but only the different levels of approval in the now hidden from the user numerical system of approval.

Visually the game ranges between good and amazing, with the art-style being the main contributor. Technically the visuals are able to hold their own but never quite manage to reach the same level some of Bioware's competitors seem to be capable of in recent releases. The animations are pretty good, but unlike many of the pre-release reviews claimed, never found my self staring at the cutscenes amazed. Parts look great, others look like they could have been in taken straight from - outdated even by 2009 standards - Origins. Simply too many jarring moments with awkward animations, especially facial animations that even though - while they feel - very close to being "there" emotionally but never quite manage to be expressive enough to match the quality of the undoubtedly great voice acting.

The audio in the game is extraordinary, with very few, if any, misses. Voice acting is as good as it gets in video games today, and the soundtrack is excellent and goes on to play a major contributing role base on just how well it manages to elevate the feel of success or failure after a huge battle. It is too however, not without it's own problems, technical in nature that have to do mostly with bad mixing of audio channels and/or volume, something however that can and will - likely - be fixed via patch.

In it's current state, I can't recommend the game at full price.(60$ or 70 deluxe edition with launch DLC included) Give it a few months and a couple of patches and it should be a good purchase for anyone looking to at least get a glimpse of that tactical rpg experience. As it stands the game has too many bugs and performance issues for anyone to overlook. IF you can look past the bugs and glitches, past the console UI and controls, there are few games out there that give you as good an overall experience as Dragon Age Inquisition can.

A simple number can't do enough to describe a game and its value, but if I had to pick a score, I would say Dragon Age Inquisition feels like a 7 that aspired to be a 10, but with the technical issues and the sleazy micro-transaction based online component bringing it down just about enough for me to detract a point.

The entire game itself, the components is very good... all put together however if feels like one of those insane American burgers with everything. Even if you still can taste the ingredients, it becomes impossible to eat.

Simplify, simplify, simplify. Not "add more, add more, add more". The game is truly gigantic and has some wonderful moments... but just so much it loses focus.

What this game needed before release was an editor who simply struck out all the bits that don't add to the game.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game... but I would have preferred a more streamlined experience. Be able to walk more in a straight line, not have to fly hither and thither like a butterfly because of all the forced in content.

Would I recommend the game? Definitely... I just wish it had been even better in the classic style rather than the Ubisoft style of piling in more and more collectibles to keep kids attention.

At it stands, I find the game highly decent BUT not excellent or a master piece. Bioware has done worse but it also had done far better. For RPG lovers, this is the best game out right now... but of course it is also the only game out right now. I am well satisfied but as an RPG fan, I also take what I can get.

The narrative itself is about par for the course for Bioware these days, which is to say, something a 13 year old fan-shipper might write in her spare time and entirely uninspiring - even the return of fan favorites from Dragon Age Origins isn't a big enough tide of good will to lift the leaky boat of this once well respected company.

Multiplayer is pointless co-op (go play a real MMO!) with no PvP and gaudily offers you buffs for RL money, like health potions. Yes, EA has once again saddled another game with pointless multiplayer and micro-transactions.

I'm really disappointed in this series, especially considering it started out with such an excellent title. It's fallen so far that they are even retconning their own lore at this point, as I had to roll my eyes at Iron Bull completely disregarding the Qunari caste system laid out in the first game in what I can only imagine is some bizarre "politically correct" need to make a repressive caste driven warrior race seem "less sexist".

This game is going into the trash heap of "games I wish I had never bought", right next to it's predecessor and Mass Effect 3. I consider this title the final epitaph for what was once a respected and renown studio.

Certainly not a regrettable purchase as was DA2.

Pro: - The aesthetics was incredible - from vast deserts to luscious forests, each of the individual open area was incredibly exciting to explore. - The game offered a fresh take on crafting which had reasonable depth, although the variety of armours and weapons is only a tiny fraction of Skyrim. Cons: - The game was poorly paced.

    Cons:
    - The game was poorly paced. It featured open areas but paradoxically attempts to scaffold exploration with level restrictions. It'd have made more sense if enemies were able to level with the player character.
    - The combat was tedious. My first play-through began as a dual-wielding rogue but melee control was incredibly clunky with movement assigned to WASD and attack to the mouse. Eventually I reskilled to become an archer - ranged attacks auto-lock to enemies.
    - The tactical mode was utter **** I'm 5 hours into my second playthrough on a higher difficulty. Encounters are tougher and need more planning, but the navigation of the tactical mode is a f**king nightmare. Half of my time was wasted trying to navigate the controls of the tactical view.
    - The story was very cliched. The main antagonist was one of those "muahahaha I'm evil I'll destroy the world for power" type.

All in all a decent game but nothing monumental. I've read accounts that there will be no moddling support, which will REALLY lower the replayability of the game.

The combat is lackluster to say the least, you basically hold down the RMB or R key the entire time.. The tactical mode might as well not even exist.

I really dislike all the MMO like cheesiness in the game (flashing text flying all around during fights, crazy spells and animations, how gold/items/chests are just laying around in random locations like the middle of the floor, etc.)

Says the game is "open world", I don't know what they think open world is because I've been travelling along guided paths the entire time.

I never played DA:II, but I was an enormous fan of Dragon Age: Origins, one of my favorite games by far. I had hoped this game would be a continuation of all that made DAO awesome, but I was wrong.

If I were to review it from that standard, it is probably the best of that type of game. But as a true successor to Dragon Age Origins it is an utter and complete failure. I am a fan of DA:O and that is why it hurts me so much to see how much work Bioware put into this steaming pile. I'm sorry Bioware, you have abandoned your base to produce EA Crap TM. Please keep in mind that the only reason you are selling a lot of this game is because of the goodwill generated by Dragon Age Origins. You have failed us with this release. I hope all the new people your game design brings you is enough to support you building more of this kind of crap. Because I'm not supporting you any more. And I suspect I'm not the only one.

To quote the immortal Scotty, "There's an old, old saying on Earth, Mister Sulu. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

To those of you who believe this review is too harsh, that it is a great game, and I should enjoy it for what it is, instead of what it is not; you are right. I'll probably finishing the game, but I'll be setting it to easy to get through it, since there is very little to savor and no point in drawing out the experience. I just wish I had waited a couple months to purchase it for $10.00.

So to summarize: If you want a console game to hack through bad guys with the occasional cut scene, this game is for you, and probably a 9. If you want something thoughtful, intelligent, with a deep plot, developed characters you feel connected to, and interesting content, this game isn't for you, and is probably a 3. I'm surprised Jar Jar didn't have a cameo.

P.S. Nice review DragonKnight, I couldn't agree with you more.

PPS Ok, I read through my review and decided it was a little too negative. Dragon Age Inquisition is a fair game. I'm going to play it through because I love the Dragon Age World, but I doubt I will forgive Bioware for turning something epic into something pathetic.

PPPS Ok, I forgot to mention all kinds of bugs, bugs are to be expected I suppose, but there are many glaring bugs. I've had to restart my game completely because of one, had to exit and log back in for a couple, and been able to ignore the rest, mostly.

Some of the main story quests were captivating and fast paced, while others gave interesting choices which clearly provide plot points for sequels. I enjoyed trying new things like the chance to play politics in Orlesian ball.

The addition of more races was excellent. My main was a dalish female, and felt it added depth to several game quests. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a romance which was not separate fluff but was clearly written to enhance the main story.

Replayability of game is good. I finished my first round around 70 hours, and had four areas I had not visited at all. There are so many companions that it is impossible to get to known them all during a single playthrough.

I was unsure what I would think of not being able to heal between fights and having to rely on potions. I played as a mage, and the chance ended up being positive one because it released me from obligation to pick healing spells or bring the healer on every quest. Overall, the game gives much room to choose companions based on personality instead of roles. Rogues, for example, aren't necessary compared to Origins or DA2 because there aren't as many locks. And party with three mages was actually viable option at many areas on normal difficulty.

I liked the crafting system. For armor, player can pick the colors and features by choosing which metals/leathers/cloth to use. The color schemes were my favorite! I never got hang of herbalism or potions, probably because I didn't need them.

As a PC mouse + keyboard player, I had trouble with controls at first but once I got hang of them (like using the right mouse button to look around instead of left), it was ok. Having only 9 quickslots for spells was annoying, since it limited my options during the fights. The game has some problems like crashing during the certain fight in the beginning of the game, but nothing major.

    - no more wave combat except for the rifts where it actually makes sense
    - stunning graphics
    - more holistic subquests which fit well into the main plot and/or the area
    - combat is fluent and fun but with less button mashing

    The changes (compared to DAO):
    - bigger maps
    - consequences to your actions are reflected directly in the game and not only after the game is finished
    - while areas are bigger, they are also open. Making it easy to come back for an unfinished subquest. No need to backtrack over large areas (like in the deep roads or the circle tower) to hand in the quest or to find the item you forgot

    The good parts it kept:
    - companions are interesting and well written, like in every Bioware game
    - main quest is your standard save the world, recruit everyone you can find for the cause
    - music score is really great
    - the companion banter is.. like it always has been, fun fun fun :)

Things I did not like so much
    - since this is a semi-openworld game the main story will progress a lot slower, there is too much to do for a completionist
    - graphics are fantastic, but you need a very good card to run everything on high with 60fps. My GTX 760 manages above 60 only with AA on low. But to be honest even without AA the game looks more than good.
    - balance issues, at least at the start of the game you need a healer or the combat turns into a nightmare very quickly. Even on normal.
    - Elves still look like aliens :(

If you are after a master-class in how NOT to write fantasy, then this is the game for you. Never has it been more obvious that bioware has become nothing more than a logo EA stamps on rpgs. All the writers and developers and, you know, PEOPLE who made previous bioware games good, have quit the company and moved on to indie studios or craft beer breweries to escape the wretched tentacles of EA.
The games writing is slapped together from boring stereotypes and stale cliches to create an exquisitely unimmersive story of the world being about to end and YOU are the ONLY ONE who can STOP IT. The faint glimmer of an interesting conflict set up at the end of Dragon age 2 is stamped out in the first act to be replaced by an increasingly vague and half-assed antagonist whose about as menacing and complex as a kitchen sink.
I was thinking of mentioning the few parts of the game I liked, and there were a few, but I won't because that might fool someone into thinking there's value in this game. If you can pick it up for a dollar or pirate it, then go ahead, but it's not even worth your time, let alone your money. **** this game. Don't play it.

(Inquisitor, fetch this! fetch that! ya ya kill this guy!) As a completionist myself it was hard to tear myself away from this map before finishing everything, but I was just getting burnt out, much like others are experiencing I'm sure.

The story really develops as do the characters once you start the first couple REAL missions. The sidequests also become more fun and challenging. 30 hours into the game you WILL be able to unlock new skill trees for your characters too for those that feel the default skill trees are lacking. Your actions DO affect the world around you, and if you spent the time using Dragon Keep to import your choices from past games it's well worth it.

Playing with keyboard and mouse was a disappointment, but once I switched to a controller everything worked beautifully. I know that many people complain that they bought this for PC which means they should be able to play with KBM... but restricting yourself to KBM for the sake of it will really detract from the experience you could be getting. Maybe they will make a patch for better KBM controls but until then I think using a controller is fine. Game performance has no issues on a PC, it looks better and plays smoother than console depending on how powerful your machine is.

Give this game a chance, leave the Hinterlands, dive into what the game really has to offer, and enjoy!

Graphics: 8/10 (Character models could be better but environments are great)
Sound and Music: 10/10 (Amazing, really enjoy the sountrack)
Gameplay: 7.5/10 (Tactical cam is sometimes restrictive. Keyboard mouse controls suck but plays beautifully with a controller)

Now for the positives. This is an excellent game. I felt like I have all the times I have played DAO. There is not only a lot to do but a ton of little nice touches. Even the lesser NPCs have interesting moments. Despite having 144hrs playtime, I was no where near finishing everything.

Dragon Age Inquisition has not only managed to make me interested in the plot, but the game-play, and beautiful open world have made me sit at work and ponder on what I will be doing in this gorgeous game. I'm not a big fan of the slow, constant combat, I prefer a hack and slash, but as I played more and more of the game, I started to understand why Bioware made it this way. They knew that while you're controlling your squad, and figuring out what to do in a situation, you will also have to fend for yourself. The slow combat helps, because you can switch in-between characters, and set-up vantage points, and have the team fight off the grunts while you take care of the bigger threat. With the perfect set-up, I now don't have to worry about being attacked by anything smaller than me, while i'm fighting off Dragons, and Templar's. According to the critics, those annoying and meaningless X of Y progress bar quests are what a 2014 single player RPG should be about (bonus: escort a dumb SLOW animal with glitching pathfinding back to its farm). WoW has been more creative with "open world" quests even in its original 2004 version.

DA:O was a 9 for me and DA 2 a 7. I think DA:I fits somewhere in the middle. The environments Bioware has created in DA:I are fantastic. I haven't had any noticeable graphical problems other than cut-scene dialogue stutter which I was able to fix by unlocking the framerate to 60 (can be found easily by doing a web search). Overall, I'm very pleased with the overall graphical design of the world and the characters as well. The writing and voice acting were done very well.

In my opinion, this game could have been as good as DA:O, but the combat isn't nearly as good. A lot of it has to do with AI and lack of control. When I played DA:O on nightmare, I was able to carefully place my group around the battlefield and have them hold position when necessary and carefully select their actions through the tactics menu. DA:I does not have the same level of detail which can sometimes make combat frustrating. However, it's not enough to discourage me from playing the game.

DA:I fixed most of the problems with DA2 but it still feels like more DA2 than DA:O. That being said, it you wanted to put 100+ hours in this game you could which makes it a great value. I've actually enjoyed a lot of the optional content and it hasn't felt too repetitive. If you're a fan of the series you should play this game.

    Dear Diary,

today i played Dragon Age: Inquisition again.

First i did one of those main-quests where there are cool movies.
It started with an awesome movie. After that i needed to clear 3/3 spots from bad creatures because they were overwhelming my people. then there was another awesome movie and after that i was somewhere else. In that new place i needed to search for 8/8 memories and 5/5 fears, that was so amazing! Because it wasn't easy. There were so many cool fights on the way it was really awesome. When i was done, there was another fight and then a great movie again. How exciting!

After that i went to a new area to explore. First i met an elf. He wanted to join me - i have no idea why - but then there was a papa-elf that didn't like me and he didn't allow that. So i started some quests to get that papa-elf to like me. I collected 4/4 glyphs, 3/3 parts of a key, a talisman and a letter for the elfs. Plus i lead some kind of elk to one of the elfs.

Sadly papa-elf still didn't like me too much. And then something really bad happend. By accident i attacked one of those elks next to papa-elf and killed it. This is a bad thing because the elfs think those elks are holy. I was so afraid papa-elf would be very angry with me, but luckily he didn't even notice.

So i went on to help the elfs. I collected 5/5 Spindleweed, 10/10 Elfroot, 10/10 canine leather, 5/5 iron, 3/3 bear pelts and after that, papa-elf really liked me. He allowed that first elf i met to join. Since then i haven't seen or met that elf, nor have i any idea where he might be. But i feel very happy, that i managed it!

Until now i had very much fun, but then i went into a cave where i had to do something. I had no idea what had to be done and there were no questmarkers at all. That's just unfair! So i went to the internet and there was a video about what i had to do. I don't know how that guy from the internet knew what had to be done. I guess he must've been a developer.
So before i played on i emailed the developers, that their game is far to complicated and that the next game had to be a little easier. I'd like to have fun ALL the time.

After i was done with that stupid cave i met a dragon. Awesome! There was a huge fight with great graphics and even explosions and fire! But it was far too hard and the dragon killed me. I wanted to lower the difficulty but i was playing on easy already and there was no easier level. After another 8 tries i was able to kill the dragon. That fight was far too hard.

Once the dragon was gone i searched for 16/16 shards, marked 15/15 poi, established 3/3 camps, closed 11/11 rifts and burned dead bodies in 4/4 places and blew into a horn. Awesome! Plus, i finally found a ring i needed to deliver to some person. This time it was no wedding-ring though...
The person i brought the ring to was so happy! To thank me, she asked me to find 10/10 supply chests and her friend wanted me to collect 7/7 letters for him.

Once i did all that i was done in that area and didn't had anything left to do there, it had been a LOT of fun again though.

But then mama told me it's bedtime so i have to wait until tomorrow to play further.

Dear diary, i had no idea RPG's are so much fun! I thought they are just boring and you have to think all the time when you play them. Dragon Age: Inquisition is just so awesome and fun to play. Next to wonderful quests there is just so much of great fighting and so much to collect and search for. I still wonder though, why there was yet no tower to climb to get into the next area.

But before i'll start playing tomorrow i have to write another email to the developers, because that fight against the dragon was far too difficult.

There are many bugs that are silly, but not game breaking. They never ruin the gameplay or take you too far out of the immersion. However, the writing is not on the level of DA:O. That said, as you play and level up, the game gets better and better. IWow, clearly opinions are nearly evenly divided about whether this is good/bad. I can understand being annoyed by some of the bad stuff (like the banter between some team members can be just plain stupid and irrelevant to the action - seems very sloppy for the developers who brought us Mass Effect), but the good far, far, far outweighs the negatives. Don't be a hater, just don't get it. I, on the other hand, am thoroughly addicted. Oh, and by the way, this is a billion times better and more stable than that POS Assassins Creed Unity. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A step back for PC gamers.

This is a very dumbed-down DA-Origins from the character perspective. I think those who say this is a console game are right. It has the feel of a console game from the very beginning. Kinda like playing Red Dead Redemption in a fantasy setting.

The problem is, PC gamers tend to be more of the tiny-detail, number-crunching, TOTALLY into their character types. Console gamers tend to just want action and gore. If you are into role playing a really unique character, with lots of specialization and dozens of skills to choose from, you will be disappointed.

    A comparison:
DA-Origins: Your character has a unique backstory Inquis: Same for all
DA-Origins: You control where your characters attribute points go (str, int, dex, etc) Inquis: No
DA-Origins: Multiple skills of multiple levels on multiple skill trees. You could play one char focused as an arch mage with ice skills, and play the game again with a mage dealing wholly in fire. Inquis: Relatively few skills allow a warrior for example, to be expert in both sword and shield AND 2-handed at the same time.

Again, because console gamers just want one character who can switch on the fly from bashing people with a shield to chopping with a giant axe without having to make a whole new character and play until they are proficient with the new style. PC gamers will have 15 different characters, each tweaked in little ways that make them special.

I understand those who had high hopes feeling disappointed and giving this game a 0, but it really deserves better. The graphics are beautiful, and the world is immense. The quests, while sometimes seemingly an endless amount, are well conceived and entertaining. The tactics-AI is pretty bad, true, but overall, this is a decent game that will entertain you, but may be a step backwards from a PC perspective.

First, the fights are a joke and insult my intellectual capacities. Seriously, in an RPG I want to be challenged and to solve tough fights with my party. I don't want to want to watch cool animations without really using my brain....
Second, how am I supposed to feel I am THE INQUISITOR if I am running around like a schoolboy earning a few more cents for collecting and delivering rubbish to some unimportant people? Guys, just remember once again when we were playing Baldur's Gate: There was not a single quest that didn't convey the feeling of our importance and that we are really changing events. Oh how I miss the old Bioware (luckily, luckily, luckily we have independent studios that have a good chance of becoming a classical bioware, just look for: divinity original sins and pillars of eternity - so in a way, let Bioware be what it wants to be...).
Anyway, to keep it short: Many people will like Inqusition, but for RPG gamers that want challenging combat, party building and an exciting story that you shape: believe me, don't waste your money on Inquisition. If you still want to have a look at it: wait for a year until there will be special offers.

There are admittedly many MMO style "10 bear asses" style quests, but they blend in rather nicely when doing more interesting quests or simply exploring.
The graphics are good, but nothing mindblowing. What really improved is the graphical style - the series seems to finally have found its visual identity. There is a lot of beautiful 2d art everywhere, too.
It's good to have the isometric camera again, but its implementation is bad. It doesn't pull away enough, and you can't drag and select multiple characters. That's not a major flaw, though. The combat is fast paced and interesting after unlocking a few skills.

Let's start with the negatives first.

    * Playing this game on keyboard on mouse? You're gonna have a bad time (for now, until mods maybe). * You're heading out of Haven and want to clear the ENTIRE Hinterlands first? You're gonna have a bad time (it takes at least !20 HOURS!). * You can min/max like a boss and want to play Normal? You can probably get a better time playing Hard+.

You're gonna have a bad time (it takes at least !20 HOURS!).
    * You can min/max like a boss and want to play Normal?
You can probably get a better time playing Hard+.

    Now for my mindset:

    * I STRONGLY dislike EA.
Can't help it, they've destroyed so many franchises, killed so many companies, they deserve their hate.
    * Expectations after DA2.
After Dragon Age 2, I was also expecting more reused maps, no story (at all) and basically more of a Kingdoms of Amalur type of game (which isn't that bad imho but nothing to be proud of).
    * Dragon Age: Origins is the last gem Bioware made pre EA. (crazy amount of hours).
You can clearly see the amount of EA tampering was kept to a minimum (as the game was already "finished" when EA assumed control).
This reversed in Dragon Age 2 where they tried to stomp out a sequel as fast as they could and it showed.

What I got this time (100+ hours in) :

Game Of The Year 2014 :)

    * Gamepad gameplay like Dragon Age 2
But improved, I remember not being able to play DA2 on the PC because the gameplay screams gamepad at you.
Don't torture yourself with keyboard and mouse, accept the game for what it is or don't play.
    * AMAZING Voice Acting (and audio in general).
Thought the visuals were good? Check that audio.
I remember stepping into the first INN (Haven) and suddenly hearing voiced songs played by the bard, Yeah the game pretty much had me from there.
Voice acting is getting a separate mention because it's just that spot on.
    * Size
I went in thinking this game would be finished with 20 hours maybe, 30 if I was lucky.
Here I am running around at 100+ hours, still not finished and (more importantly) STILL enjoying every moment.
    * Bioware Characters.
It's their forte and it seems they haven't lost it yet (luckily).
All characters are believable and have more depth then I initially figured they would have.
    * Visuals
I thought I wouldn't add it, but they're just that good.
You will find yourself being caught in the environment multiple times.
My first encounter with the lightning dragon stood out for me the most (truly felt like a living breathing beast, the others maybe not so much).

Whatever rating this game "deserves", to me, it's clearly better than Dragon Age 2.
I'm now looking forward to seeing if Witcher 3 can beat this game next year :)

If you like RPG games you will love this game. I play on Xbox one and have had only 1 minor bug so far where the music stops but it is easy to fix in the fly and hasn't affected the gameplay for me.

I am at a loss to see how people could possibly score this game a 0 my guess is haters will be haters.

Its a beautiful game the hour I played of it. However most of the systems are frustrating.

Searching for loot with V, you can't pick it up unless you are within a meter of it. Combat seems very strange I played as a mage and they have removed all the previous spells and lore and instead gone with lighting, fire ice and spirit. No more Creation, Entropy. Holding down a button to attack

I read some other reviews and I agreed with them I have returned my version and got my money back thank you EA for allowing me to do this. I don't hold a grudge I just won't buy this game until its playable. I really am looking forward to the story I'm sure its epic but I won't panda to console driven games I'm a PC gamer always will be.

Also, Qunari as a playable race, feels tacked-on. I was really disappointed, when i started my Female Qunari Mage, thinking it would be the most hated combination I could think of, but... it wasn't

There was like a handful of references to being a Qunari, less, to being a Qunari mage, and NONE about being a female Qunari, who haven't even been SEEN before in the other games.

Plus, it's obvious that only Heavy Armor has been fleshed out for them. More than half the light and medium armors can't be worn by Qunari, and 1 piece I did find that fit me, didn't even have a model for Qunari! It just showed as the basic "underclothes" default.

I might put up with those things on a later playthrough, but on a first time? Yeah...not gonna happen.

Now Im playing a Human though, and playing as a crazy devout follower of the Maker, which feels right in this game, which is nice, seeing as the past 2 games (especially the 2nd), it felt better to play as anti-templar / chantry.

So it's definitely different, and new, and fun for me.

-> Tactical combat is a good way of giving control to the player.

-> The story, and it's development outside the main organisation, though it's also the number one worst thing about the game.

    The bad:

-> The story forces you to be "Herald of Andraste" and into leading the "Inquisition" - basically saying, **** you and now take it from behind if you don't like it. I don't want to be a Messiah. Nobody in their right mind does. A hero, an adventurer, a traveller, a warrior or a villain - sure, but not a freaking Messiah.
    - -- - > It also doesn't help that the story is filled with pretentious crap like the "Inquisition". It feels like I'm stuck in the dream of an ignorant and daft person's imagination of what he had heard Middle-Earth was about, without actually having read a thing about it. It's uninspiring, unoriginal and even worse, it insults rather than compliments what it attempts to copy.

    - > The actual fighting and abilities in combat: They're simple, unimpactful, stupid and pointless clickfests. The whole thing, except for when you need the tactical overview vs. bosses and hard opponents is a mind****ing exercise in grinding by a game that pretends to be an RPG but wants to be an MMO more than anything in the world. If you want to get to lvl 20 or more in this game, prepare for wrist injury.

-> Which brings me on to the hotkeys and UI. Why the hell do I need to constantly spam V (search) and R (attack)? If something doesn't involve decision making, just automate it. Also, I have no idea why auto-run isn't on Q by default.

-> A core problem: It simply isn't an open world game. It's a world dotted with several, separate enclosed areas which themselves are linear and without freedom to go off the beaten path.

-> The biggest problem of all: There's no free will. Forget whatever character you made, it's entirely irrelevant. You have no control of anything, including yourself, and can only watch as you endure monologue after monologue and menial tasks given to you ad infinitum.

"Medieval Fantasy Quartermaster Detective Robot Simulator 2014" is a much better name than "Dragon Age: Inquisition".

"Dragon Age: Inquisition" would be a good game if there were actual dialogue and player influence on the story - but from start to finish there's only the occasional attempts to pretend you can even have emotions or thoughts of your own.

In short, a railroaded linear MMO drawing "inspiration" from the 1990'es, the Bible and crude stereotypes, coated with contemporary graphics.

Bioware decided to Mimic Skyrim in map size and Assassins' Creed in game play, by that I mean, they employ cheap user experience tricks to add hours of game play; they add countless treasure-hunt quests that have no real impact on the game, and World of Warcraft's fighting system that with a "tactical" top down view that really doesn't add much.

This title promised to be engaging, but it falls short as it tries to mimic various games out there. Sadly, they didn't pay a lot of attention to the writing or voice acting. It's a hack and slash game where the main objective is to repetitively wait until cool-downs recharge to win battles, and where picking up items from the floor and walking endlessly probably will make up 50 of the whopping 100+ hours of game play.

I seriously do not recommend purchasing this Dragon Age: Inquisition if you are looking for a quality RPG.
I only hope Mass Effect 4 doesn't follow the same trend.

This game is absolutely massive, the world is huge and the things you can do in the game is mind blowing, many hours of dialogues which are cool, well written and can tell you all the lore of whole franchise, the characters are great and each one of them very individual, they react to you differently based on you choices and finally the world is so huge with plenty very interesting places to discover.

On the technical side, game looks stunning, beautiful art design, good lighting, and it runs really well on my mid-range pc.(high/mid settings @1080p). Oh, forgot to mention, audio in general is also brilliant.

Now the bad - well when you pick up for the first time, controls feel slightly clunky, but you can get used to it (should be patched hopefully). But I assure, it's not that bad like some say. And looting is.. well it's annoying, because character won't go to pick by himself (you have to manually move him near the loot). But these are minor issues and you can easily get used to them.

Now some answers to critique on those ridiculous negative reviews:
    - pirates, don't be kids who didn't get their lollipop. I'm not fan of Denuvo, but doing this **** with copy/paste negative reviews, up voting those bad, down voting good is silly. Don't **** on game just because you can't play pirated version. I guess main reason of this mess going on here.
    - it's not continuous open world and it's a good thing. because you get bigger variety of environment and zones are large enough.
    - some consolish issues with controls are not that bad to drop the game.
    - side quests while being mostly generic are not bad. They are optional and have one purpose - to help explore the world (you don't even have to return to npc) and finally, nobody forces to do them.
    - game is not slow, unless you spend all your time in hinterlands. This is a tutorial zone to help new people to learn the game better and help to get used to it. You can skip all those bring x of y quests and move on to business
    - No, nobody forces you to listen to every single dialogue, tho I love them and find them accent of this franchise.
    - No it's not spiritual successor of Origins, it's not that heavily tactical game, tho if you really wish, it can be. Play on hard or nightmare and you will see you need to individually make order for each action and make reasonable decisions. And action approach is not necessarily bad if it is done right. I also hopped for tactical style like in Origins, but I'm not disappointment. This game is all about story, lore and characters, if you need tactical approach, go play Divinity Original sin.

This game is definitely worth buying. Which nowadays single player game can provide 100hours of gameplay or more? It feels great, it plays great. -1 for minor issues here and there, so 9/10 is fair.

And don't mind those red reviews, those are EA long term haters, pirates who hate denuvo, or typical "0 voters". If you want more honest information, go watch some YT reviews (for example Angry Joe) or any other objective reviewer from youtube community., Peace out!
