-One of the most interesting lore in recent games (combined with the former games of the series)
-Your decisions really do matter in this game, it is shaping the world, your friends, and yourself.
-if you like the way Bioware do their games, like you are the one (the main character) in the center of the world.

    Cons:
-Action bar with 8 slots? Cmoon.
-Dull villain. (he feels only remarkable by the fact that he forced the Inquisition to be reborn.)
-Too much grinding side-quest that are not interesting, and doesnt even rewarding, in fact if you do them all, the game just becomes too easy on hardest setting after some time. But you are not forced to do all of them, you can skip 90% of them if its not your thing, i like them, but if they are not interesting, nor necessary, they feel kind of pointless.
-Your decisions in the game dont really matter gameplay wise. (But they really do in the story.)

It is a good game, with outsanding moments, memorable characters, sweet graphics. I have played it more than 250 hours, and i intend to return later.

One of the strangest experiences I had in a game, where I spent 70 hours in it and maybe enjoyed 10 of them. I think it's because the environments are so beautiful to look at, that you want to explore it no matter how dull the quests are in the regions. Certain parts of the story are interesting (royal court politics), but they really botched the last few quests. The game suffers heavily from copy-and-paste content, where 90% of the sidequests are the same tasks repeated over different regions. There are some decent quests like the haunted cheateau or companion quests, but even those have rehashed mobs thrown in as a "boss." Perhaps the developers wanted a WoW feeling to the game, but that's a huge mistake since that game went down the s h i t t e r as well.

I guess I stuck around for certain characters (Cassandra and Sera) and to see the zones, but this is a game I look back on and wonder how I managed to play through the whole thing.

I really loved games like KOTOR and Mass Effect 2 because of their cinematic approach and their atmosphere.
But in DA:Inquisition I very early on started to skip dialogues as they felt too stereotypical, bland and uninteresting to me.

If you're into width as in sheer size and collecting/"completing" lots of stuff in a well polished (blink, blink) world, you might enjoy this game. The crafting is probably fun for some people, too.

If you're into depth as in an emotional experience in a virtual world that feels deep and alive, and gameplay that encourages you to use different tactics or to make really difficult choices, you might as well skip this one.

Or wait until it becomes cheaper to get your fix of the flashy graphics and jump around a bit ;)

First the character creation was so f***ing bad, every hair model I liked clipped through my damned ears and they are done so bad that they seemed cheap wigs. In these games you have to look at your character face in EVERY conversation so estetics DOES matters. And they are horrible in DA:I.

Graphics are not really exceptional, playing at ultra settings.

Now comes the juicy part, ALL controls are made for consoles. ALL OF THEM. Menus, attacks, spell bar...you name it. Movement is atrocious, I don't really get why they couldn't simply implement DA:O controls, it would have been less effort and more gain.

Combat is abysmal, you just press R to attack - yes you press R to autoattack and do nothing - while spamming whatever spell you want, not that it does any difference since you can barely even aim.

And there's the tactical view...oh my god it's unbelievably bad, you can't control it with mouse (LIKE IT WOULD BE OBVIOUS TO) and WASD don't pan the camera....they ROTATE IT. It is actually the most frustrating thing I've ever seen in a RPG. Uninstalled the game 10 minutes after the tactical view was introduced.

Ah forgot about the story: there's a great evil, you are the chosen one to save the world, end.

The Quests are really not very challenging. I guess the days of puzzles are gone; you just follow the beacon on the mini-map to solve something. Dumb. EA has to pick it up here; I love basketball, but because of this game's clumsiness, I'm not going to see if I can be Lebron. Too bad.

I have to vent my frustrations about this game. It does not matter what version you play current gen console, last gen console or PC the game is horrible.

As the only one who can save the world you will spend most of your time fetching things for lazy NPC's. Get blankets for refugees, collect items to upgrade your weapons and armor, fetch horses and though technically not a fetch quest

I didn't feel like a world savior. I felt like my real world self going to work. The game is a chore. Imagine if Arkham Knight came out and you could do all these cool things as Batman but instead the game forced you to go to board meetings as Bruce Wayne. That's what Inquisition does to the Dragon Age series.

A better name might be World of Dragon Age Craft. It's an MMORPG without the MMO part. It's dull, non immersive and turns gaming into your real life job. You know, the one go to because you have to pay the bills only Inquisition doesn't pay you, you pay for it.

The critic reviews are a joke. 5.8 user score but an 85 critic score? Don't waste your money. This game should be a free to play MMO.

Dragon Age Inquistion (DA:I) is like two games combined into one.

On one hand you have a boring "Single Player MMO" (couldn't find a better term), and on the other hand you have a decent story-driven RPG, with nice cut-scenes and nice character interaction (like in the Mass Effect games).

But how was this possible ?

Well, after the gamers criticized the DA2 as being boring and repetitive, Bioware decided DA:I should have a huge and diverse world.

    Excellent.

Unfortunately they delivered a great looking world, with diverse locations, but empty of (quality) content.

So instead of having small areas, with meaningful quests like we had in DA:O, now he have huge maps with boring quests in which the player has to collect herbs, kill 10 bandits, kill 15 templars, collect some papers. etc. They literally filled the game with hundreds of quests like this, with little back story and / or imagination.

So in order to advance the main missions you will need a thing called "power" (basically your influence in the world) which can only be obtain if you do the above mentioned quests.

But the situation is even more absurd than this. If you are a completionist, and you plan to finish all the quests, you might get over-leveled, and at that point things will become very boring, even on higher difficulties.

The next part I hate about DA:I is the potion system. The creatures you kill never drop potions, and there are literally no regeneration spells in the game. Instead of potions, they've added a barier/guard mechanic, which in my humble opinion is stupid. So now, every now and then, you must to the camp and refill the potions of your party.

The story part of the game is quite nice in terms of story and intrigue, but nothing epic. You are the good guy, with a special thingie, and you will need to kill the bad guy against all odds. Everything is predictible, and I didn't have any "wow" moments like I did in DA:O.

The characters are well-defined, they have nice back-stories, they interact with each other and you can hear funny dialogs.

The fighting part is mediocre, and quite easy (there are some OP specializations) after level 10. The difference between normal and higher difficulties is only the HP the other creatures have (I think).

After 55 hours I've finished DA:I. But I don't have the curiosity or the mood to every replay it. That's why I consider I've payed for an overpriced & mediocre game.

The great mix of Skyrim-type action RPG and slower, turn-based RPG like Transistor and similar to Fire Emblem. It's a little more action-y than Origins, and even though I generally prefer pure turn-based games, I was entertained and engaged with the combat system throughout the game.

Rest assured, a stunning success like this shows that Bioware is back after the SWTOR mistake (we all wanted KOTOR 3) and the misfire at the end of Mass Effect 3 (which I still loved anyway). Now, we can all look forward to Mass Effect 4, and whatever else Bioware has in store for us.

This game is not for those who like to rush through and shoot 'em up and get big loot rewards (although there is nice loot). It's a game for people who want to get completely engrossed with a compelling storyline, have options to craft items, decorate your palace, manipulate political intrigue and diplomacy, or even fall in love.

I have been playing this game for six hours a day for a good month now, taking my time and going through all the character interactions/dialogue and I cannot remember a time when I was so captivated by the lore and the story. This game is DEFINITELY worth the money for those who care more about complex layers of story and adventure, rather than straight first-person shooter type games. Playing this game is like reading a chapter in a favourite novel, it's a page turner. Bioware has hired some very talented writers who make the storyline so engrossing you can't wait to see what happens next. And better still, the choices you make as a player are blended seamlessly into the overall plot, regardless of what you pick.

Actual setup for gameplay comes in three choices: casual, normal and hardcore. Normal is pretty straight forward -- the fighting is fun, but not overly challenging (you have to use skills/combos to beat the monster, but I've played some games where you mercilessly wipe over and over before you finally win -- I have not experienced that in this game), casual is for those who want the story not the fighting, and have yet to try hardcore (I plan to). The maps are huge and graphically beautiful, the choice of party members diverse, the gear interesting (ties in with lore/storyline) and the choice are infinite: What path you choose ultimately affects your outcome.

The UI itself will be instantly familiar to anyone who has played an MMO. Finally a software company has given PC gamers a proper setup, rather than the afterthought it appears in most other console-heavy games -- where you have to manipulate keyboard settings to accommodate the game, rather than the other way around. Interaction is easy and innate, and that lets you get into the game quite easily and fluidly.

I bought this game a month ago, I'm still playing it loyally every single day. I'm currently at level 18 and there's still so much left to do! (Level cap is 20).

I love this game SO much I wish they'd release an expansion, or even consider making it an official MMO (it has that much content -- the only thing it's missing is a few 24-man raids and it's good to go). I think it would become a massive hit as a true MMO (you can group up with friends, but it's limited seating). Bioware, if you read this, please consider an expansion to let me keep playing my beloved character.

TDLR: This game is DEFINITELY worth the money.

(P.S. I see a lot of reviews complaining of framerate issues. I'm playing on a five year old quad and have had zero issues).

WARNING! Yes I feel Origins is a huge accomplishment to live up to. So if you want an unbiased review that doesn't mention how Origins is still better then read no further.

I enjoyed it for about 10 hours, then I stopped playing due to my work schedule. When my free time opened back up I focused instead on other games (Skyrim) when I had time. The reason for this is while character development in Skyrim is not as improtant, I get more control out of what my character becomes, what I can choose to do, and how I choose to do it. And that is the overall problem with this game. It's still too linear for my taste. Yes you get to travel around a beautiful world but what's the point when you don't give us a reason to. There is definitely grinding in most games, but here it felt unnecessary and unrewarding. The characters, while a vast improvement to DA2, were to me not worth investing more time in. I never had that connection to them like I did with characters from Origins. To even learn more about the characters you have to stop everything and go back to your home-base to further any of that along. This is an RPG and the whole time I felt Bioware and EA were trying to put those little things on the back burner to attract a more mainstream audience.
The story, while arguably an improvement to DA2, didn't really keep me invested enough to want to continue to learn more about the world. If I was able to talk to my party on the field it would have made this game more enjoyable and believable. If being able to travel anywhere on the map and encounter randomly generated events like a dungeon or being attacked unscripted by templars, then this game would have won me over. But it feels like a lesser version of what I've seen. Here's a further breakdown:

The graphics are stunning! The highlight of the game. The cut-scenes being limited to 30fps was slightly annoying, but easily fixed if you do some research on Google. But while beautiful there is not real point to travelling the world because we get no incentive to except to to be able to see an accomplishment pop up on our screen. Call me old fashioned but I like feeling like I personally accomplished something.

I ended up relenting and using an Xbox controller because the Keyboard/mouse controls were driving me insane. They definitely put their energy in making the console controls more intuitive than the keyboard controls and that irks me a bit, but to each their own.

It felt like the game mechanics was an even further step back than DA2 took. I loved the control you had in Origins over your party and how you could control every aspect of leveling. Now you only get to choose your skills and nothing more, no more choosing how to distribute your stats or anything to that nature. You can still tell your party's AI what to do, but not on the same level as previous games. All in all I felt the game was over simplified to again cater to a more mainstream audience.

Also, when did it become a good idea to limit potions on the field? It works for a game like Dark Souls because it works in tandem with the mechanics of dying in game. Here it feels like a half-hearted attempt to make the game more challenging and it feels more annoying to me to have to go around, gather items to increase my potions capacity. This is just my opinion but I find grinding to increase potions to be unnecessary and overly tedious. Even in world of warcraft you can at least buy the potions from auction or a store if you don't feel like making them yourself. Give us the option!

Questing was interesting at first, but eventually it became stale. The gathering of items seemed overly tedious and felt like an MMORPG rather than a standard RPG game. It felt like filler because when you take all that away there isn't a lot to do in the main story-line.

But the biggest gripe I will have for this game is the spamming of the trigger button to attack with an occasional special move. It gets really boring after a few minutes. It lacks strategy or finesse. Sure technically you just repeatedly attack the same way in DAO, but the difference is you don't have to constantly hit the button or hold it down to keep attacking. It's an extra step that gives you no advantage.

So, overall, while visually it's a stunning game and holds up for a few hours, eventually the hype and awe wears off after you realize that a lot of the elements in this game are only there to cover up the fact that this game is tedious, over-hyped, and generally doesn't give you a reason to keep playing. Granted this is my opinion, and I know a lot of gamers feel differently. I'm sure a lot of players will find this game hugely enjoyable and that's fine. More power to them. I would advise anyone looking to buy this to be very cautious and make sure you really want to spend $60.00 on this game, because to me it would have been worth waiting a while for it to drop down significantly in price.

This could be the best RPG ever in the entirety of existence, and it wouldn't matter due to its unplayability on PC. The game is overly saddled with poorly written code that is unnecessarily devouring computer resources. As long as this issues remain, this game is as good as a movie from Uwe Boll... which is to say not at all.

Cullen was a fanatical, murdering lunatic in DAO - here, he's an advisor. Leliana and Morrigan were my least favourite companions - here, they both have an import part. Zevran, my biggest pixelated love ever, doesn't even appear...

And the character creator only stregthened my suspicion. Seriously, it's a most **** up CC I've ever seen. Counterintuitive (e.g. if you want to move something up, you have to move your mouse down), imprecise, it's extremely difficult to make a character look the way you want. And when you're finally more or less satisfied, you start the game, and... his lips are so shiny it can blind you and his strawberry blond hair is lemon yellow. That's why it's not 10, btw.

But once I actually started to playing, things immediately started to change, despite my best effort to stay grumpy. I didn't expect I'd like Cassandra and Solas so much - and all the others. There are some I like more, they are some I like less, but that's in fact a proof what a great job writers did, creating so many characters with distinct personalities.

If you want more from a game than just killing and explosions - if you want a fantasy world, where you can build relationships with other characters (including, but not limited to, romances), where NPCs are not the stereotypes, and where you can make meaningful decisions, then this is the game for you.

I also like the sidequests, though there could've been fewer. >.> But, at least it's not like in other RPG, where you Chosen Hero of Errand Boys is the only one in the world who can go into the forest half a mile behind a city to pick a few berries, or go hunt five bears to give their skins - to a hunter. Here, you do things for yourself. If you go collecting and hunting, it's because you want more resources, point.

The world is not fully open, but that suits me. Open worlds are amazing at first, but once the 'wow' moment is gone, it's rather tiresome and boring - I've never completed Skyrim, for that reason. DAI is a good balance between 'freedom' and the story.

I read a lot of complaints about controls, but I can't confirm it. It did take some time to get used to it, but that's what the prologue is for.

The game is not perfect, but I am willing to overlook that, because it's a lot of fun, and quite addictive. Not as great as DAO (how could it be, without Zev? xD) but still best I played in the last few years.

And this was RPG of the Year on countless gaming sites! Its development dances well to the status quo of the industry. It has sufficiently high production values to allow the professional blogging scene to praise it to the highest of heavens without losing face. Never mind that it brings absolutely nothing new to the RPG genre. Years from now millions of people who don't know any better will cite its name as proof that Games Are Art. But the truth is that Inquisition is nothing more than an exercise in treating players with a great deal of condescension. I can sympathize with the notion of simplifying a series in order to attract a wider audience but by God, I can't in good faith recommend Dragon Age: Inquisition even as a casual experience. It just isn't fun.

Very mediocre. Combat is horrid. Dialogue wheel the worst ever. Sometimes fun and exciting, sometimes incredibly boring. Pure action RPG. Dragon Age: Origins was 1000 times better. Some new features like the war room are a saving grace.

First of, there are a few glitches and texture pop-ins, but there are few of these and the ones that you do come across are rarely noteworthy and almost never game breaking, and so these flaws can be easily overlooked. The combat is mostly disappointing and can range from mind-numbing simplicity to unnecessarily complicated depending on your class. What happened to the straightforward elegance of Origins? I mean, it's not the atrocity that was DA 2's combat, but its still quite flawed. Next up is the game's sidequests, which often lack inspiration and creativity. Granted, we've unfortunately come to expect this from the genre, but Inquisition's sidequests seemed particularly bland and uninspired. It seems as if most of the sidequests were thrown in as an afterthought in order to provide filler for the game's main story, not as interesting narratives in their own rights. Perhaps it's because of the high bar that Origins had set that many of Inquisition's quests seemed boring by comparison, but it's a problem nonetheless. The crafting in the game is enjoyable and accessible, but it will not hold your interest for long. Also, many of the choices that you will make throughout the game have little impact on the actual story, and often multiple differing dialogue branches will end up leading to the same conclusion. I mean, i'm not saying we need hundreds of different endings to every quest, but come on! If your going to provide a narrative that gives the player the freedom to choose, then at least gives us choices that will actually change the outcome of the stories. The UI on the PC is often awkward and clunky. It's not hard to notice that this was a game that was designed for consoles and ported to PC. Now I'm no elitist, but the state of the PC version of the game in comparison to the console version is depressingly laughable. The characters in the game do not disappoint though, and the way they interacted with each other and your character is often enjoyable, although there are some strange dialogue choices that do not fit in with the rest of the conversation. The actual story though? It was mostly average, with some truly great moments that made Bioware's skill at crafting a narrative shine through. But these moments were few and far between, and they were not able to salvage the rest of the mediocre storyline. In my opinion, Dragon Age: Inquisition was a disappointment, and I truly hope that Bioware can throw off the influence that EA has had on their development process and bring this series back to the level of quality that it had held at the time of Dragon Age: Origins. Are you wondering why the user reviews are so extreme? It is this: the hype and the Dragon Age title made us believe this would be a tactics-based RPG with engaging characters. It's not. Its a pretty game (except for the creepy oil sheen on your characters). I have had zero technical or performance problems. But the game play reminds me a lot of the newer Zelda games (which I also hated). It's basically a 3D platformer in a fake open world, with RPG dressing, and (ugh) constantly respawning mobs.

The only skills you'll need are button-mashing and remembering where the randomly-placed overpowered mobs live, so you can come back and kill them later. There are almost no strategy, tactical, or for that matter RPG elements. Even basic tactics (kiting, bottle necks, crowd control spells) are unusable with this interface. Just hold down "R" and fire your special attacks when they recharge. Remember pondering over weapon choices in DA:O? No need here. There's a lot less loot, and all choices are obvious.

Obviously a lot of people like this kind of game, especially on consoles. That's where the positive reviews come from. But they're not usually the same people who loved DA:O. I'm 19 hours in, and bored to tears. I don't know how much more I can take.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is another great game from BioWare in their Dragon Age franchise. It's scope and quality help the franchise shine like never before, but also showcases the setbacks faced with having such a scope.

The world of Fereldan is bigger than ever before. BioWare does a nice job creating a world that's vast and beautiful. The different zones of Inquisition are all treated with care. The home bases of Inquisition (Haven and Skyhold) are both detailed and well done. In Inquisition, the series has become more of an open world. I found myself exploring and staring at the world around me just to take in sights on multiple occasions.

While the world is enormous, it also caused the biggest downfall of the game; the lack of narrative focus. Because of the open-world nature of the game, you're going to spend a lot of time out in the world of Fereldan, rather than experiencing the epic story. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if the world had as much to offer you, but it folds under the pressure of having too big of a scope. It often feels disjointed, having long sections of "filler" content before small sections of story against an uninteresting villain. The open-world nature often goes at odds with the narrative focus, killing the potential this game had.

Because the game is so big, BioWare has to fill it out with as much content as possible. They do a fine job of having the content there, but give you no reason to care about it being there. In past BioWare games, side quests had cutscenes with new characters asking you to do things for them. While it was always the same "kill x smount of bad guys to get the loot required", you felt more of an obligation to do so because you've had a personal interaction with that character. Inquisition fails to have very many cutscenes at all other than the main quests. You are left the Mass Effect 3-esque conversations with people from far away, with background noises often drowning them out. This lack of personal obligation leaves players feeling bored, lacking any reason to care.

The world of Thedas has become less personal as well. Instead of interesting sidequests with characters showing you more backstory to the world, you're often told of how the world is through codex entries. This leaves a lot of players who want to learn of this world out of luck, unless they sit and read each entry. For old players of the Dragon Age series, this often leads to Dragon Age steering away from it's grittiness. The world of Fereldan is on the brink of destruction. People are dying. The world has gone to **** More has never been at stake before. But because you never really see or experience very many bad things at all, it really doesn't feel like the threat is as great as it should be.

To shorten the review, I will list the rest:
The war table and inclusion of perks was a fun, new way to experience interesting quests and choices that help give the Inquisition its own personal feel. Though it was neat, it left me wanting it to have a bigger impact at the end. Companions were well thought out and interesting as well as companion quests. Romance and voice acting throughout was excellent. Having advisers and seeing past characters were nice additions to the game. Crafting was rewarding, albeit time consuming. Armor and weapons were decent. Combat was enjoyable and skill trees were fun to toy around with. The sounds were great, along with the soundtrack. The character creator was expansive and well-done, while having different backstories was a nice touch. Codex entries (if you're willing to read them) tell some great stories too.

The game is a good game, but the scope that the game had killed any potential for a great game. BioWare's choice-based storytelling is still better than most in the AAA market, but it feels as if the storytelling aspect was played down more than it should've been.

There are plenty of reviews out for DA:I so I won't add another. Reading the comments online, this game may not appeal to everyone. However, I personally think it is a brilliant game and made up for the shortcomings of Dragon Age 2. The ending felt a bit lackluster otherwise I'd give it a perfect score. Maybe Bioware ran out of funding. (9/10)

Though I do see a point in some of the reviews (sometimes MMO-like missions, weak main char writing, ...) I am actually really enjoying this. All in all, this setting works well, looks beautiful and some of the main plots are really nicely done.
(Sure, I am not talking about some side-missions, where you have to put down flowers at a certain grave.)
Overall: Well done, a bit too much

Then you get to choose your Voice and Honestly They both suck you either choose an Extremely Deep voice or a lite and happy Voice None In between, I however Chose the Lighter Voice as the Deep one just Didn't work. This is for a human by the way I Can't speak for the other races. Then you get into the game and the animations are amazing, and the combat is smooth. I've seen alot of people Complaining about How cut scenes are laggy but from what I've seen they Didn't realize that the cut scene's are capped at 30 fps. Then you have the animations in the game (Opening a door etc) Those are Unfortunately capped at 30 fps as well so you can be having a perfectly smooth 60 fps but when you open a door While the game is smooth the Door will always be at 30, Same with birds by the way.

and then you have something called Dragon age keep The idea is good Yes and when it works its amazing Unfortunately For me It didn't and I didn't realize it until I was 30 hours in and I wasn't about to redo everything just for that. and it really bothered me too because I romanced morrigan and i wanted to see how my warden was doing but instead I was told I was a female elf Whom had died -_-

now let me tell you I not gay at all i am far from it but both of the Straight male Romance options were so Boring I was tempted to romance Dorian and that is saying something. Alot of the Negative Reviews i have seen are from people who hadn't gotten out of the hinterlands and let me tell you first hand GET OUT OF THE HINTERLANDS I Bought the inquisitors Edition so I played double of what the game costs and I literally had it sitting in my closet collecting dust Because of how bored I was. (That is until I got out of the hinterlands) and just a warning for people This game rely's heavily on side quest's so if you rush the game (Which you really can't but if you can manage to) you can finish in 6 hours at least but me personally I am 35 hours in and at the max level ( well the soft cap) and I've only done about 4 main quests.
If you have played the past games and are planning to import your saves Make sure you Export them on the dragon age keep. I can't stress this enough I missed out on so much because i didn't Press a single button.

Can I recommend this game? Yeah But only if you are willing to put up with the occasional Crash and Glitch. and trust me those Glitches can get really bad I had Fought the Ferelden Frost back which In my opinion Is the hardest Dragon in the game and When I had finally killed him He Was dead but the game Didn't see him as dead so he was just sitting there Not attacking me just... Sitting there another Time I was fighting a dragon I got Hit and went Flying In the air and When I got back to the Ground I was Nearly Dead and the Dragon was fully healed again.

I never got into Origins, although I have it. I've tried GW. WoW, Diable. The grinding reminded me of much WoW. Find this, find that, kill this, kill that. Mini-Bosses, I think what drove me nuts the most was the DirectX11 and Nvidia driver colliding. I had to kill Corypheus twice. It would have been better, if WoW and Dragon's Age, could meld together. Take the cinematography of DA-I, and merge it with online communications of WoW. Might be on to something. As for the gay thing. Meh. Whatever. I enjoyed story lines, but it would have been better had they been REAL people. Meaning...replace the NPC's in the party with LIVE people. Allow for the communications between them. To really suck people in, a game: Should be: A) Exceptional Interesting, there are full arrays of quests sure, but the nature of the quests, don't need to kill 6 wolf 20x over (Thanks WoW), or hunt for mats that only suck up bag space. NO storage .... really? that's lame. More banquets....the Empress Ball @ Winter Palace, was interesting, but if you really gonna keep folks, they need spawn relationships out of that. Puzzles, detective stuff, fun, for me I like ancient things...so the more older, the more architecture (sp?) the better. I don't want to be constantly killing skeletons, it gets boring. Why I stopped playing D3. boring to me, after you do it once. WoW is only "ok" it gets same rating as this. Its too damn expensive.

So for me, I'd like to see a company where, you create a team online of friends, that stick together. Through the whole theme, with free interactions between them, a storage facility, and be cost affective, in a magical adventurous type of way.

But going completely overboard and implementing large irrelevant areas aren't exactly perfection either. Especially not when the majority of quests are "fetch 10", "kill 5", "close rift" which have little to no story line or story importance.

The inventory system sucks much like in DA:2 - even if they attempted to make it a little better. Crafting is there and well - yeah, you can craft things, but it does not save much.

Classes and abilities on classes are mostly dumped down and simplistic and just plain lackluster.

The interface is atrociously poor. The game is clearly made for consoles so the mouse/keyboard crowd is left with an afterthought conversion. Awful. A lot of quality of life features are missing, some of which strangely enough were present in Dragon Age Origin.

Tactical mode is back - but again poorly implemented.

Basically - Bioware have forgotten all that made Dragon Age Origins good and gone completely console-action mad.

So - the game can climb on to the mediocre wagon after all the hype and marketing lies and the obviously biased "professional" reviews. So glad it was on sale when I bought it, so I didn't waste much money.
Bioware is no more. That's clear. EAWare is trying, but struggling with anything but console action.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really felt compelled to write a review for Dragon Age Inquisition (PC version). Since I have played the game, did a lot of side quests and spent almost about 110 hours on the game, I can form a good and detailled opinion about the game. In advance of my conclusion: I am very surprised about the so-called 'reviews' of professional reviewers of several sites that gave the game at least a 8 or a 9 or higher. Metacritic, mostly on behalf of the target audience itself: the gamers, shows the opposite in their remarks and feeling towards the game, a game that has been hyped till today. Further proof that those professional reviewers are not as independent as they claim!

    Graphics
Problably the best aspect of the game. The Frostbite engine doesn't disappoint and gives a very nice touch at the graphics. Whether it concerns in game action or in game movies, it's very nice to the eye. The diversity of landscapes makes it beautiful and diverse. However a point of criticism: some environments are to similar to each other and could have been more varied. The wooded environment maps however are very beautiful and done tastefully.

    Gameplay
What in my mind should make the difference for a game, especially a RPG game, is the gameplay. Inquisition is very disappointing on this matter. What Dragon Age Origins made fantastic, disappoints heavy with Inquisition. The combat system is, especially for PC gamers (!), Too much console oriented. The so called 'overall camera' we knew from Origins adds little and often doesn't work properly and irritates me very much. Bioware hasn't learned from the mistakes of Dragon Age II and should have listened better to the fans. What I have most against the gameplay are the ridiculous many bugs in the game, making it almost impossible to play. This is completyle unacceptable. How can such a big and hyped game with so many bugs can be released? I find this really incredible bad. Bioware's will was that the game had to lie in the stores before the holiday's. Monetary gains above a tested and quality proofed game? I realy think so. Thank you Bioware. In the about 110 hours I've played the game it definitely crashed 2 times or more per hour, despite patches. Here is a list of the major errors in the game (the small errors put aside!): many crashes by programming errors; 'allowing' me to play the game on low while my PC can handle high or ultra. Quests and NPCs that disappear; making me restoring a previous save and losing hours in the process. The use of PC resources; no game uses so many resources, even at low, making it the game very slow (like movies) and absolutely ridiculous consumption of CPU, GPU, RAM. This is not only frustrating, but this is so annoying that I have several times doubted to through in the towel. Therefore I have played the game on pure character; the 110 hours of playing time to prove this.....

    Quests
The main storyline is okay, without going too much in detail and spoilers of course. However, it feels not credible at some time and place, some things are a bit too wordy. For instance, the maps are very large, sometimes too large in my opinion. I haven't seen the beautiful build-up and diversity that defines Origins. The "atmosphere" that radiates Origins, are almost absent in Inquistion. The overall quests miss the tension Origins entails; like The Deep Roads storyline I found really fantastic. Also Inquisition misses a good and solid build-up in the story line. SPOILER AHEAD: an important 'piece' in the game is Skyhold. Skyhold hardly has a real role in the game. It looks nice and grand, but customizing adds little. Also at the end of the game, which I expected that Skyhold would play a vital and central role, is very disappointing. Bioware could and should have more out of this. SPOILER AHEAD: also The War Room adds little to the game in my opinion. There are way too many small and meaningless quests and the link with the main storyline is at times too thin, making its 'quests' a matter of mouse clicks to get resources, influence, etc. The time to invest in these "quests" are regarding real hours and minutes, thereby making the game almost unbearably long and tiring. What I find positive to the game and important to mention is Dragon Age Keep. Dragon Age Keep is actually a tool to put together the events of Origins and Dragon Age II. Good thinking and well done Bioware. The different events and outcomes in the previous two games making this tool a very nice addition. This makes the game a lot more varied. Well done!

    Final conclusion
Despite the good intentions, Dragon Age Inquisition disappoints very much. On quite a few points this actually had not been necessary. The game that was hyped too much destroyes itself in many and unnecessary ways. Despite some interesting quests, the main story line doesn't captivates and the many bugs making playing the game almost impossible. Hopefully Bioware learns from its mistakes for the future to come........

The real lack of fun, for me, was the fact that you didn't have any real consequence for your actions. Sure you can die and repeat the loading but you cannot fail the main quest in any way (Bioware we want more ending like Mass Effect 2!)
At the end the story feels empty and the game itself seems just an huge single mmo with a lot of grinding. Not to mention the pathetic microtransactions in the multiplayer in a AAA game! Are you for real!?

The UI is so fluid I never even have to think about it during combat, the characters are well developed and interesting and the story, while nothing revolutionary, is very solid and can keep you interest.

However I will admit the first 10-14 hours of the game are essentially prep for the rest of the actual game, however I believe it is worth it. At first it doesn't seem like much but the deeper into the story you go the game only gets exponentially better.

The textures look as good as you would expect from a Dragon Age game, not the most amazing but still very pretty to work at. I find the gameplay on the PS4 smooth and enjoyable, especially the strategic view which gives a nice alternate option for those who prefer a less action-y RPG experience. The music is amazing and the characters are easily one of my favorite parts of the game.

However this game is definitely not for everybody. If you are really against cookie-cutter stories that have been dressed up, you may have some complaints. However I feel enough has been added to keep things interesting that it doesn't matter. I've played many an RPG and this is easily one of my favorites and definitely my favorite Dragon Age game.

It's a shame that developers these days use good titles (Like Dragon Age: Origins) as cash cows.

    Alas my review:

    Story:
I like the story and the setting, it has great atmosphere and the characters go deeper than in other games. But I still feel the story misses something to spice it up, like in the first game.

The player choices when talking to other persons in-game are great, and it is good that they shape your character and the way the game evolves.

Also the skill trees look nice and are easy to understand, I only miss the excitement when you add a new skill/spell (related to graphics in the next paragraph).

    Game play:
Repetitive game play with very slow combat.
The combat is smoother than Dragon Age II, but it feels slow and boring. It feels like the combat is stuck between fluid RPG combat and turn-based combat.

Skill graphics aren't that good when you unlock a new skill or upgrade one to be more powerful.
Attack animations are the same a lot and the endless clicking to attack a target (because you can't hold left mouse without getting killed at some point).

Movement is slow and sometimes weird, you cannot walk on every stone or slope. Sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot access certain places. It feels sloppy and is sometimes frustrating when you cannot reach a certain place that looks obvious you should.

    Graphics & Sound:
The graphics are nice, as is the environment and the audio.
Cut-scenes are entertaining and interaction with other persons is nice.
And the environment is really great, giving a great view over a great fantasy world.
I love the music, it fits in the atmosphere as well as the voices acting and other environmental sounds.

    Conclusion
I don't think it's a very good game, nor that it is very bad.
You can finish this game and think, well the story was nice.
But the replay value is very low.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I happened to be able to borrow a copy of the game, and I am glad I did before buying it, which will never happen now. The technical issues, like terrible tactical view, unwieldy controls (as I found out, the PC version is actually a port from a console, and that explained why they were so bad) would not spoil the game were it really good. but I found myself bored after a few hours of playing.

Might be my vast gaming experience, but the story at the start seems very predictable and dull. You are some unknown person, just falling out of the sky and remembering nothing but weird delirious images. OK, you get arrested and almost tortured for that which is explainable and fine... but then all of a sudden you turn in the Chosen One, Dovakin and whatever, for no reason. Really, the speed at which you are trusted the title of the head of the Inquisition is absurd, and just because you have a strange mark on your hand you can tell nothing about, and because you used it to close an evil portal. Still you don´t even know yourself what is happening.

Then some typical dialogues follow, like everything is wasted, the world is against us, we need to build out own army with blackjack and stuff. The army quartermaster tells you she needs better swords for the army, the smith needs 5 iron to make these swords, you roam around collecting iron carefully place at obvious places, get some other stuff from map markers, go back, everybody sheds happy tears, your army is upgraded.

Few objects can be interacted with. A lot of chests that simply do not open. Would be fine if they were locked, or their owner would complain, no, they are just another skin for a boulder. I found a house and was happy at the thought I could probably loot some carrots from it if nothing else. The interior was rich - a bed, a chest, a table, lots of other stuff... but the only thing I could interact with was a note on the table. Such a disappointment.

The game might be not as bad on itself, I would probably like it, had I not played Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Skyrim before... but now it is clearly a disappointment. Very typical plot stamps, boring quests, poor world. If you expect the level of DA Origins or Skyrim, don't buy it. If you never played games of that type... I still would get Skyrim.

In my opinion, one of the worst games in the new generation. Let's begin with the starting area, which felt like an unused TOR online MMO hub with fantasy trappings, then travel to the poor dialogue, bad side quests, terrible voice acting, the retconning of canon from previous games, then add shallow combat that lacks the depth of BOTH previous titles. That's bad enough on its own, right? I'm not done yet. Next, we have character modeling that looked like they'd been edited in MS paint, along with a generous coating of vaseline over the models. Still sound good? Wait, I'm not done! Let's continue to the terrible writing, the main villain being a massive cliche, the dragon fights being boring copy/paste affairs after the first fight, then conclude with: WHY, BIOWARE? People were rooting for you to bounce back after the ME3 fiasco and the DA2 issues. Why would you put out yet another less than stellar game, with glaring issues on PC, then expect fans to bypass all of that, just because of the Bioware brand? I'm at the point where I'm seriously considering not buying your games anymore, if this is the best you have to offer. I don't pay upwards of $60 for bad fan fiction, I pay that for my valuable gaming time to not be wasted. I hope you guys don't screw up the next Mass Effect title this badly, or I am legitimately done with you as a business, for good.

I understand that people move on and you're not the same company with the same levels of insanely talented people, and you have to start fresh with untrained writers, modelers and animators, but if you're not willing to hold them to the standards of the industry, they have no business working on lucrative franchises. I genuinely hope Bioware can turn around, but I'm not holding my breath.

Given Bioware's recent track record, I had fairly low expectations for this game. I loved Origins, but hated DA2 to the point where I couldn't even finish it. I bought Inquisition while it was on sale for 30% off on Origin over the holidays, and I was in for an absolutely massive surprise. The prologue sequence absolutely sucked me in like I never would have expected, and from that pointGiven Bioware's recent track record, I had fairly low expectations for this game. I loved Origins, but hated DA2 to the point where I couldn't even finish it. I bought Inquisition while it was on sale for 30% off on Origin over the holidays, and I was in for an absolutely massive surprise. The prologue sequence absolutely sucked me in like I never would have expected, and from that point onward I found myself hooked.

My biggest gripes early on were, without a doubt, the ungodly load times, however reinstalling the game onto a solid state hard drive largely fixed those.

Graphics wise, the game is visually stunning and I've had very few framerate issues either while running it on max settings with my GTX 760, though I can imagine its quite stressful on less powerful systems.

The controls... prior to playing, I heard from other reviewers that they were horrible on PC, yet I personally never found any issues with them on basic mouse and keyboard. The tactical camera is poorly done, but I literally have almost never used that in any of the Dragon Age games except on very rare occasions.

When I first started playing the game, there were a significant number of bugs which would cause crashes, or my GPU drivers would crash, things such as that. Over a few patches, those bugs have mostly vanished, and the game is quite stable now.

The storyline is certainly not Bioware's best, but it isn't terrible either. I won't talk about it here however because I don't want to spoil it. The characters are a mixed bag however, and there are some them who are absolutely hilarious to have in your party, others you will find yourself wanting to punch. Romance options however, compared to the last game, are rather lacking, unless you are either a straight male/female or gay male. In my case, as a lesbian female, I was stuck with either a ridiculously dressed non-party character, or the most obnoxious party member in the game as my only choices. This isn't a huge issue for me, but I do feel my kind got the short end of the stick in the romance department here. Romances aside, all of the characters have their own unique stories and personalities, as one would expect from a Bioware game, its fairly standard fare here, and a few characters from older games are hanging around as well. As is also typical, the voice acting is excellent.

As a side note, the crafting system in this game is quite excellent as well.

The musical score in this game is spectacular, no complaints about it at all.

All in all, I give it a 9.5 out of 10. This game is definitely well worth the money, and a good reminder that Bioware still can make fantastic games when the scumbags at EA aren't threatening them.

The problem is I've stopped playing it, mostly due to the glitches in the side quests and story. That's frustrating because I've waited for this game and was excited for it for a while. Several months into the release and there are still glitches that are just really disappointing. If I had to pinpoint one thing wrong with the game is that they made a very basic mistake. It's trying to be too many things to too many people and failing everyone. Loyalist to Origins were let down with DA2 and this was supposed to be the make up for that. As many people have stated this feels like a single player MMORPG. The problem is there are so many loose ends. Fetch and return quests keep popping up even when they're impossible to complete, because after a period of time through the progression of the game you cannot get what you need anymore. Instead of a basic cleanup of those quests and stopping of issuing them they are just abandoned. Plus, many of these little side quests seemingly have no purpose. the game feels massively wide but shallow. There's a lot of shiny little things to distract you but in reality things like crafting lack depth and creativity and ultimately the ceiling isn't very tall. I'm saving these special resources hoping to forge some uber weapon for my character but...I don't know what that will be and I have a feeling I will finish the game before I ever create...whatever uber weapon it is (its not obvious).

The game is an "open" world of sorts but the problem is you can screw up quests when you do this and to my knowledge many of these glitches have yet to be fixed because you end up doing them unknowingly in the wrong order. The game designer and project managers had a linear path in mind but that's not obvious to players so you drift off that track and find yourself losing hours in the game going to an old save (if you have a ton of versions being saved) to go the way they wanted you to go but didn't tell you. That, in addition to the abandon (meaningless) quests are what makes this frustrating and resulted in me taking a break. Upgrading/repairing the castle is another example. First you have to find the wood cutting areas or quarries that are visually unimpressive (and missable) and only serve to help get some minor upgrades to the castle. Origins with its expansion did a better job (and so did Mass Effect) in making these side things worthwhile even if the mini-games were a tedious pain. there is a judgment portion of the game which again is shallow and can't really tell the value of it.

There are things I have enjoyed however, most notably the characters banter. At times it can be quite amusing especially with Cole and the variety of characters. I've really enjoyed many aspects to the story and the characters side quests have been really fun and often have an impact based on things you do.

That's my problem the story is entertaining and the other parts are just a nuisance to move the story along.

At the end of the day I maintain the opinion that "EA is where good games go to die." Its just proven over and over ad nauseam. Sim City is a shell of what it was. Countless others have joined the same fate. Future games I'll be waiting to order until reviews come out and maybe price drops, hopefully that will result in EA changing how they work on games or result in EA losing sales and selling IP to other studios that will honor the creations better.

Unnaturally fast combat, vast areas to explore, but ultimately dissatisfying rewards.
I think Bioware tried to pull a Skyrim here, and it didn't happen. There are plenty of places to go and explore, but what's the point, if my reward is a dwarven statue worth of 200 credits? Seriously, there are plenty of things to do on each map, but they just don't feel rewarding. After getting to the 4th map, you are going to stare at it and think..."here we go again". Fix this bridge, find this letter, talk to this guy. Multiply this by 20, and you get the sense, what most of the game is.
The main plot? I had a hard time enjoying with all the directx crashings at cutscenes, which still isn't patched.
Structures and various scenery looking great, but the character models are from 2002, along with their animations. They look out of place, like plastic dolls, while the levels/maps have far superior graphics. Superior, I mean they look really nice, but there are still plenty of pop-ins and glitches (vegetation halfway stuck underground, rocks misplaced, some textures glitching out etc).
I'm not even gonna write about the story..because it's so cookie cutter about an evil guy trying to take over the world. There are hardly any twists or surprises.
Enemies...well, let's just say, the hardest thing to defeat in this game is some of the wildlife. Like those "drufallos". They are like fantasy-buffallo/rhino looking things. And they are semi-domesitcated too at some places.
Amazing, but true. Undead and demons are no problem, but try accidentally shooting at a drufallo. In this aspect, it's similar to Oblivion or Skyrim. They made the same mistake too. Bears and hogs were the arch-enemy of the main character, not the demons and demi-gods, with supreme magic power.
    Weapons and abilities.
In my opinon, none of them feel satisfying. I was playing a mage, but somehow none of my skills were anything, that made me feel like i'm more powerful. Somehow, they all feel useless, all feel weak, and I have to use them in a machine-gun repetition to cause any damage. And they are just not exciting. I looked at the warrior skills and it has 2 different "warhorn" skill and 2 different battlecry skills. They just don't look exciting to work for, if you ask me. And by the way, the "loot" is terrible in this game. There isn't a sword or a staff that outmatches a similar weapon, that can be crafted. When you find a rare sword, you will most likely have a better one.
Despite the game being in development for 4 years, I think it's still rushed. It's hard to believe, that they made all these maps, and yet I didn't really explore most of them and I finished the game.
Sure I could go and complete all, but trust me, they are tedious and I don't feel like I'm gaining a lot.
The game can be fun for a few hours, but progressing beyond a certain point, it's tedious and dissatisfying.

Story: Is there a Story, other than kill stuff?

AI: bad as hell. Tactical camera is probably the worst in this bad game. "Hold position" doesn't work, and companions do whatever they want, including ridiculous warps. So often it gets easier to kill a boss soloing it than having stupid companions at your side, that will be bothering you all the time, jumping into traps, running into enemy fire and staying there, etc. You can kill everything soloing with an archer, even dragons that will not do anything if you are far enough.

Loot: once again, crap. 25 years later still insisting with random item loot!!!!!!!!! Player want to look well, and want to look well all game round, not just after a strike of luck in the last hour of a full 130 hours playthrough. Loot for crafting materials is ok. Loot for items, including schematics, only works in mmorpg. Every item in the game should be achievable by work, hard work. Never by pure luck.

Characters Art: another 0. What platic hair is that? There were games in the 90's with better hairs, come on!!!! Lack of armor models (90% of them are the same 3 models for every character or race you play). Clipping and more clipping: hair-ears, weapons-coats, boots-floor

Hissing Wastes deserves a special mention: Such a buggy and unfinished zone, for the love of God. You will find hundres of items floating in the air (boxes, chests, even characters), there is no story at all there, just a big desert with good loot they have put there to compensate the stupid desing of the whole zone.

Overall: DAO was a 10/10, DA II was a 0/10, and this DAI is, just because of the size, the music, and the landscapes, a 2/10. Another disappointment from EA-Bioware.

the launch of their multiplayer was actually pretty fun but I had to leave close to 40% of the MP runs (as a result of a key failing to drop, a known bug that has not been resolved). The response rate on the official Bioware forums is very lacking, compared to their personal unofficial subreddit page (meaning they invest more time at the reddit than the official bioware forum). If you are looking for balanced multiplayer experience, this is not your fantasy MP experience.

The story itself is the least compelling it has ever been for the Dragon Age universe. Without spoiling much, it just felt like you were going through the motions. None of your decision actually felt like it mattered. Unlike in Dragon Age origins, you did not have an origin story, a reason that took you to the main event in the game. You were given a Ptarrot card with your background that is very flimsy at best.

The character creation is lackluster for Qunari. You want long hair? No. They give you very short hair, and it looks like an oiled dolls hair from a action figure. They can make the hair of a horse fly up and down with physics as you ride in the wind yet you cannot have living hair as a character?

Looking for good combat? Nope, don't count on your ranged characters to stay where you tell them to stay in combat. They have this "Let's stand in the bad" mentality which costs you your healing potions, one of the only options you have available to recover missing health. They simplified spells down toward glorified archery (drag and drop sure, but your spells will hit barely as hard as the melee hack and slash your rogues and fighters. Reaver crits for 4-5k damage a swing, no spell comes close to this. If you play a mage, plan on being a barrier caster and something else utility because frankly your character is just there to look like he's doing something. Mages used to be a core element in your group since DA:O but not anymore.

Remember the dark setting they had for DA:O? Not so much in this game. political correctness killed anything truly unique about this game aside from the LGBT friendly characters (Which are the only saving grace IMO of the game, the conversations are funny, if they happen.. There is a bug that has yet to be fixed where you can have no dialogue for hours on end).

Myself and I imagine quite a few others felt that this game was truly limited in scope. They promised us quite a bit at E3, "a pc game, for pc gamers". No, the controls are much more friendly console gamers. They limit you to 8 ability slots! Who does that to PC players? Tactical cam! remember that from DA:O and DA:2? How expansive that was, gave you good angles on the battle field. Not in this game. You can only lift maybe 7 feet off the ground. There, you can maybe see two people fighting but the battles usually range out quite a bit if you have flighty despair demons. The controls in tactical camera are not so responsive, AI doesn't seem to know how to remember a command you issued, like "Hold here" does not work at all! 2 seconds later, he's on top of your fighter that has the big dragon breathing in his face.

RNG is a big factor in this game too! 1000 schematics, they don't tell everyone however you have to get your schematics from chests. They all have a low drop rate% too. So good luck crafting that badass set that you were wanting. I thought RNG was supposed to keep players playing longer for games they pay subscriptions too. I did not buy DA to play World of Warcraft. I have that game separate for a reason! You'd think, they wouldn't try to pull this on their fanbase, but they did.

Have a bug? Reporting it on the forums, become ignored for a few months only to get unprofessional responses from the developer team itself. Someone recently flat out called someone who regularly makes videos for them a flat out sneaky liar. She never apologized for that remark. They just shut down the thread and banned the person who had the constructive video of the state of affairs for the multiplayer community.

I will reiterate that the characters in the game are the only saving grace this game has to offer for a true DA:O fan. It's so, stuffy, in Thedas now. A good story should have everything in it, the highs and the lows, as well as the awkward humor that went along with it. Not anymore, and I'm sad to say this company has lost its edge on good story telling. It's a politically correct universe, that feels forced in every sense of the word. I really hope that they go back to their roots in the future, because the next game I get from them, I will be extremely wary of, if at all. I would not recommend this to a friend.

You can't sit on chairs, you can't ask for a drink in the tavern, unable to climb up on rocks (I felt like I was participating in a Slip N Slide pool party), you can't sleep in your bed, and now you can no longer have your character to enjoy the entertainment (humor mind you) of a prostitute in a brothel like you could the previous two games. For a game that is rated M for mature with nudity and sexual content (It indicates it on the box!) I am highly disappointed that theirs lack of it. The only nudity and sexual content you'll ever get to see is if you're finalizing your romance with one of your companions, and it's a one time deal the rest is kissing, that’s it!

The amount of fetch quest is annoying and outrageous. Theirs a crazy ancient Darkspawn trying to destroy the world, and as the Inquisitor I am forced to do trivial task (to rank up power points to do main quests) of doing assistant work for a hunter too lazy to hunt food for his people. I must kill and gather up certain amount of ram meat to feed his villagers.... BORING!!!!

If you go on YouTube type in “Digiexpo 2013 - Dragon Age: Inquisition Gameplay” and watch the entire 31 min and 40 seconds video. You'll see Bioware showing off the Pre-Alpha of the game. You notice that the none of the content that was shown on the video was ever released in the finial version of this game. What we purchased is a whole different game considering to what was advertised to us. They took all of the fun things out, and put nothing but boring fetch quests, and boring skyhold war table quests that you yourself are incapable of participating. This is fraudulent misleading and deception on the behalf of Bioware and EA to their consumers. I can only hope that a Dragon Age fan, who happens to be a good attorney, will step up to the plate, and uses his/her skills as lawyer to open a class action lawsuit against Bioware and EA for this deception.

And whoever in Bioware/EA office thought that it was a great idea to run around Skyhold wearing undergarments (The infamous tan pajamas) is either suffering from a dysfunctional disorder of the mind or putting us all on. Either way were not given a choice to wear our regular armor in Skyhold.

I've never played all the way through a Dragon Age game before this. i like skyrim and i like old rpg games like baldurs gate and dragon age 1 but i hate this mix :)
can't really get accustomed too nthis mix :/
Character development is almost not existent.
Play fast foward and skip the smaller quests, they are just there to fill the game.

I found reviewing this game tricky. It was a heart vs. brain thing. My heart is telling me to give it a 9 because, despite everything, I had a lot of fun playing this game. My mind is suggesting a 6 would be fairer due to the game's flaws. So here's a mini-review from each:

Heart: I loved this game, and I played it through twice, got platinum trophy, and clocked up something like 160 hours overall. It was a lot of fun. Probably the most I've that enjoyed a game since Skyrim. The world is beautiful, the characters are well written, the graphics are fine. Fans of the DragonAge mythology with enjoy developments and discoveries that are intriguing. Finally, the DragonAge Keep deserves a mention - an excellent way to personalise the game experience (even if it doesn't make that much difference in reality).

Brain: "Doesn't make that much difference" hits the nail on the head. This game masquerades as a choice-led rpg, but actually the way you play makes hardly any difference. I obviously noticed this a lot more in my second play through, and it was disappointing when the game progressed and ended exactly the same except for a few slides at the end. There's no way to steer the fate of the Chantry, or influence the events of the world, or the opinions of characters, or do anything of any importance except for the one (admittedly cleverly disguised) linear storyline. I didn't feel like the politically powerful, string-pulling leader I was supposed to be. Finally, the lack of any "evil" story-arc options was disappointing. You could be good-good, sarcastic-good', or grumpy-good.

In conclusion I'd give this an 8. It falls short of Origins, but it's a lot better than DA2, and despite it all I did really enjoy it and that's what gaming is about right? Just a shame they didn't push the boundaries with this one.

Pros - It is an enormous playground, the Characters and story are relatively engaging, and ties together the previous games quiet nicely. Can be very pretty.

Cons - Lots..... It is buggy beyond belief and almost to the level of unplayable. Graphically I can live with if it is a bit much from a AAA game running on a pretty fast rig. But much worse is the AI. The friendly AI is stupid

Graphically I can live with if it is a bit much from a AAA game running on a pretty fast rig. But much worse is the AI. The friendly AI is stupid and ignores most of your commands, this in turn makes any and all tactical decisions you make, even if you micro manage everything pointless - so not much fun.

So go and hack and slash in first person mode.... This would be brilliant - see Assassins Creed, Kingdoms of Amular, Star Wars - Forces Unleashed, or even Witcher style combat. Nope this just gives you a button mash feast with no blocking or dodging, just stand and trade blows. So how do you beat the game where any control you might have is irrelevant (Even on hard and Nightmare)? just play to level up, until you are a couple of levels above the character you need to knock the snot out off and then knock the snot out of them... Final showdown included.

So Bioware's story telling and choice your own moral adventure style? Well even if you back one party and take a very definite stance on something the game will ignore this and basically in an FYou just make the game play out in a direction that you may or may not have chosen. Just finished the game and the epilogue, left me, angry even after 100+ hours of weird OCD masochistic playing angry enough to take to the internet.

Game play wise, Inquisition had so much potential. Origins was amazing, even DA2 had its moments, this was unremittingly dreadful. Shame because Mass Effect the just got better and better each game, they went the other way round with this one.

Having played 18 hours of the game so far, and only just leaving the prologue, this is one of the best Bioware RPG's I have played. The side quests are as engaging and immersive as the main story arc, and the gameplay itself is far more polished than either of the two previous entries to the series.

That said, the game is buggy to the point of insanity. I didn't experience a single crash for the first 12 hours of the game, but upon arriving at Skyhold crashes have become far more common. The only alleviant is to turn down the graphics settings, a shame because this game blows away both previous games, and even some other modern titles in terms of it's looks.

Overall, the game is still getting a 10/10 from me because it fixes the UI/Graphics/Gameplay issues in DA Origins, creates a far nicer environment (Cough cough) and more engaging storyline than II and finally, it is just damn fun to play.

After this I have high hopes for the next Mass Effect game.

Unfortunately more than 2 months have passed since release, they just have released the third patch (second post release) and nothing that really mattered has been improved!

If the controls were correct DAI could have been a good game:
It has an interesting story (under condition that you focus on the main story and just do the minimal necessary amount of optional content that is mostly unscenarised and boring).
It has some charismatic new and returning characters.
It offers a few choices that really affect the main scenario for replayability of the game.

It was definitively not done with the same attention to details that they have put in DAO and unfortunately they have privileged to often the quantity of content over the quality of content but it still could have been a relatively good game.

However the PC gameplay doesn’t follow. If you try to play it on PC (with the normal PC input devices) you quickly realise that they have provided the minimal effort necessary to port it from consol to PC. It’s enough to be playable but not to be really enjoyable and it just gives the feeling that they consider their PC customers as second class customers.

To conclude, the game had a lot of potential but the gameplay is so ruined by the awful controls and interface (that are badly ported from console) that I cannot really enjoy the game.

Simply put, it is very boring. Games like Skyrim which can be modded get away with being imperfect simply by being open. This has Origin behind it so it already starts life with a massive negative against it but then you actually find it is everything you fear a game delivered by EA might be. Bland, lacking immersion and lightweight in every way.

Very obviously, EA has hired a lot of people to spam sites with positives and allegedly only given critics a copy early if they agreed to a positive or no review.

Its crap. Really. Bland, empty, characterless crap. Now this is why people don't buy games for their Xbox, now they are probably making PC gamers feel like giving up too.

I felt like I just went on a journey with my character and it's quite impressive that I got so invested in the story while also feeling equally so in emotional attachment to my companions. Truly the scope of this game was beyond grand allowing hours upon hours of exploration with beautifully crafted wide open areas to explore that feel alive. I've experienced nothing quite like it before although there are many parallels to skyrim it was nothing in comparison in that aspect and many others. There was many changes to combat especially in relation to origins but I believe they were improvements. I though combat was quite streamlined in both the enjoyment of battle with the amazing variety of creatures to discover. Oh the dragons are simply amazing so much more ferocious and powerful in comparison to their previous designs. From a tactical viewpoint dragon age 2 was nonexistent unlike origins which kept true to computer based RPGs. Thankfully bio ware responded to pleas from computer gamer such as myself by finding a almost graceful blend between the two with the tactical camera. Many don't like this new addition but it's really not that bad I used it all the time allowing me to switch between my companions and use their abilities with precision. Yes it is clunky inside tight spots but I worked around that fault though it would like to see some improvements in game play. The combat visual effects speak for them self if you've seen them the magic is incredible such as my fire/rift Mage Solas throwing fire spells left and right setting red Templar's to demons alight with the wave of his hand. Personally my inquisitor was a lighting/rift Mage which was equally impressive but the warrior and rogue classes with their specializations made for strategic while still wildly entertaining. One of the greatest additions to the new Dragon Age was the armor and weapons customization which was the accumulation of the previous dragon ages various customization developments; they got it beyond right this time around. I spent so much time gathering crafting materials and schematics to create my own equipment unique equipment in the under croft while also giving all the different materials different stats makes it just that much more engaging. Plus while your down there you can upgrade your skyhold with three different major upgrades. The War Table was another pleasant addition it the series by adding a sense that there is much more going on beyond the walls of your inquisition castle and that your organization is engaging with the different areas of thedas while also letting you feel like what your doing truly matters to the world. It also gives you various things for completing the missions with the three different adviser options which i quite like they did a great job adding much more interactivity between the gamer and your organization. Although all of these positives ive hit on would be nothing without an riveting intriguing and intelligent story with all the drama action plot twists while still feeling big but grounded keeping you feeling that you are on this journey with the inquistion. Which the inner circle of the inquistion had some of the best charchters out of the entire series. Bioware has always done an amazing job writing personalitys for the game. They really felt real and not boring or over the top. I caught myself getting really attached to these charchters; wanting to learn as much as i can about them while also i wanted to earn their respect. I cant say the same for many other games out there. Our antagonist of the story was also quite the personality and his mission has brought about much change to all of thedas while opening up so much more to come for the series, This universe is incredibly expansive and i love it. I get involved in it all the developers and story writers allow you to loose yourself for a few hours while also doing a great job with the adult themes and parallels to many of the issues facing society today. It deserved the awards it won and i truly look forward to seeing a sequel announced. Hopefully the series will stick with the inquisition and the current character; allowing you to continue to control the organization you built. Or star a new one but i like where they've gone so im sure they'll think of something. Also look forward to learning more about the fade, elves, blight and just the whole universe in general that's why i dont understand why people are so critical of this game it really didn't have that many faults for how huge of a production it was. The reason is scores so low for me is that in my honest opinion Bioware are better than this. Their biggest let down is promising so many hours of content with little to show for it, alot of the content can easily be described as flimsy filler that is ultimately pointless to the ultimate conclusion of the story.

If they had shortened the game and made it a bit more punchy, or made the extra content more engaging they would have come out with a far greater product.

Often times you'll pick up a book that will dump an entire readers digest into your journal at which point you'll trod over to an object on the map and it will simply say "Quest Complete".

That's it, completely inconsequential to me and utterly pointless given how extra content has been done so much better in the past by bioware, particularly in the Mass Effect series.

Another annoying portion of the extra content involved your party missions, it was unclear when and how these could actually be triggered and for some characters it never triggered at all, I suspect this may have had to do with how low my approval was with them. But the lack of clarity certainly doesn't help that situation.

Some seriously neat portions involve you passing judgement from your throne as leader of your fictional nation on people from the story missions, a very nice feature.

Crafting is engaging and well optimized if a little bit over cumbersome and the war table feature is ok I suppose, but some things taking over 18 hours to finish was a little much in my opinion.

and once again Bioware certainly knows how to create a very anti-climactic ending.

Overall I wasn't overwhelmingly disappointed with the end result, just disappointed because with just a few tweaks it had the potential to be much better than it was.

DA 2 started leaning more like Mass Effect combat...more shooter than strategy or tactics. But I loved the story and the character development. The NPC's made up for the lack of depth of combat...I really liked them. I have a really nice Naga mouse...it does really well in shooter games...useless in DA. This game is a button mashing nightmare.

More like attack dogs with no program ability that is helpful. Scenery is nice...love the music. I need a mass harvest button and an auto loot option WTF????? I should sue them for hand surgery I'm going to need after this.

Next part is the worst, as I could suffer the bad mechanics for good story and character development (DA 2 at least did that). The script and npc interaction is written by someone out of teen magazine. Some of the most juvenile sexist tripe I have seen. Sometimes I would let them die just to shut them up. Like Mass Effect 3 they over thought the story and got lost in the confusion. Should have just stuck to the story of a Mage/Templar war (like the the end of DA 2 ). Instead they got fancy and now I'm playing a bad version of Rift's.

Another thought....wouldn't it have been nice if we could import a character from the original 2 games (like Mass Effect). But they did let you rewrite or import the history of the previous game saves.

Wait till they run promo on this for $10 or less. It will be fully patched then also.

Then DA2 came, felt strange but it is a game that you can enjoy even if it is more action playstyle oriented.
    After a long anticipation DA3 came and...what a dissapointment...
Not a turned base/strategic fights RPG non a pure action oriented..
The game is obvious made for consoles and NOT a Pc,you really cant click to move, cant click to loot, menu is really bad,no tooltips on spells!,have to press the attack button all the time...camera is also terrible.
Graphics look good to me overall but i really strugle to play it in fights and i do not enjoy it.
Call me romantic but i reall miss the old black isle/bioware titles, games for more "hardcore" players for sure but they are great for my taste.I wrote this review more becouse i am dissapointed than to give an overall picture of the game.
Worst thing is that looks so cheap and convenient in may ways, from story, questing to the characters design and their psychology. Also i can not find any reason of using the "tactical" camera.Today i bought the game and played some hours and i feel dissapointed and i admit it,sad.
My last words,if you are a romantic old rpg player like BG and the other bioware-black isle games,if DAOrigins was the next big thing for you after them then i strongly suggest NOT to buy this game.
If you just do not care and want to have some fun then this title could be interesting for you.
As for me if i am to play an epic action game that i smash my ps pad buttons i prefer to play something like God of War instead. But then i suppose this is called evolution? Thanks but not good for me.

I cannot comment on story because I realized it would be a miserable aggravation to play through and returned it after thirty minutes.

I loved DAO and even DA:2 despite it's drawbacks. What lead me to my conclusion was:

Tactics: huge downgrade from the flexibility and behavior controllability of Dragon Age 2. There is no auto attack and the character you control will not snap to it's orders. it has to be physically placed and then repeatedly told to attack by the player. Even indicating a target and holding the attack command will result in your character sitting still and swiping uselessly at air unless you personally move him into position. In a series about party management where combat relies on precise positioning, it turns the slick action into an impossible hassle.

Simple movement through the world was instantly aggravating. My character moved as though he was trudging through knee-deep molasses in the heat of combat, a useless quality in a dual-wielding rogue.

Interface: the interface is large, blocking up way too much of the screen, and far more visually complex than what it should be. The DA2 interface was sleek, somewhat minimalist, and highly functional. Coming from DA2 where I could snap around the battlefield like an overcaffeinated god and issue timely and effective orders that the AI could rapidly and properly execute, this was a mess. Getting a good view of the battle was often very difficult.

Customizeability: in DAO and DA 2 there is tons of leeway in how to spec your characters to succeed even when using wildly different builds on the same character. In DAI this is essentially gone, because the computer assigns your stat points for you. Building the ultimate specific-purpose character is no longer a possibility.

If you are coming from DOA or DA 2 and are looking to carry on the good high-octane work, you will be very disappointed in the basic gameplay of this installment, as I was.

While not a bad game, DA:I simply does way too many things wrong (and worse than both its predecessors) to be considered anything more than decent. I won't say the cash spent on this game was wasted - my time spent with it was enjoyable enough - but the direction BioWare is taking this franchise worries me greatly.

This game feels like an MMO.
The world is absolutely huge... and at the same time, filled with nearly nothing but boring fetch quests and bland NPCs whose names you will forget 30 seconds after talking to them. The main storyline, while rather engaging, probably amounts for about 10h at best, with the rest being collectibles and "collect 10 boar brains" types of quests. Interesting side-quests are practically non-existent.

The main storyline... well, I wouldn't put it as a minus, given that I really enjoyed it, but still... it feels like a missed opportunity. It's rather generic, truth be told - save the world, like most RPGs - and I can't really fathom why they went this way, instead of focusing a lot more on the much-hyped Mage-Templar War, and perhaps the Orlais Civil War. Oh well, too bad.

The companions - typically the highlight of any BioWare game - simply... did not click with me, much. Even Varric, whom I carried around with me everywhere in DA2. They feel less connected with your character than in the previous games, perhaps because all of them join your team for reasons that have nothing to do with YOU (and everything with the Inquisition). They're all very well-written, of that there is no doubt, but they still failed to establish any sort of emotional connection with me.

Your main character is the blandest protagonist of the series so far. The Warden, while voiceless, was at least given great backstory through the origin stories, which are IMO essential to truly get "inside" and role-play your character. Hawke's story began fairly early in his life and had us witness all of it's goods and bads, which again helped me feel connected to him. The Inquisitor... we get a short note of where the heck he came from, and some stuff related to his past happens... through text messages on the War Table. Yeah. It didn't help that I thought both male voices were rather bad (the British one sounds like Will Scarlet from Kevin Costner's Robin Hood movie, which made me restart my character after a few hours, and the American is hilariously, overly deep and macho).

The combat felt shallow and dull, hamstrung by the ridiculous decision to remove the tactics screen (for f**k's sake, Varric, GET OUT OF MELEE RANGE WITH YOUR CROSSBOW!) and limit you to 8 skills (which really isn't much for a mid-late game mage) really turned me off. I don't enjoy the more action-focused style of it, either, but that's really down to personal preference. I prefer the more tactical approach of DA:O, myself. (Don't even mention the tactical view. That's such a disaster, at least on the PC, I'm not even bothered to mention it for existing...).

Add to that the clearly console-ported UI, awful controls on PC, numerous bugs (most annoyingly the prevalent banter bug and other sound problems...), performance problems and other crap I can't be bothered to write up anymore, and you'll see why I laugh off the pretense that DA:I is anywhere near Game of the Year material.

However, that's not to say it's all bad and no good. The graphics are absolutely beautiful - this game truly is a looker, very much worthy of the next-gen tag. The sounds (when they work) are very immersive, but the soundtrack is woefully underused - there are some really incredible tracks in there, but I'll never understand the decision to play 20 seconds of it every 5 minutes at best. Really weird design decision, I'd say. The banter (again, when it actually works) is funny and clever, as usual.

There are many more points that should be touched upon in a full review, but given my lack of will to do so (and the limited space) I think I'd touched upon the more important ones. If you're interested in this game, but haven't bought it yet, consider it really well. Read some of the problems people keep mentioning on the forums (where BioWare for unfathomable reasons ignores them nearly completely). If you're willing to look past the problems, then you'll likely enjoy yourself well enough. But don't expect a ground-breaking, earth-shattering revolution in the genre. It's nowhere near that. It's not even a great game, in my opinion.

I truly want to like this game. I loved the first and even have a guilty adoration for the second one despite its short comings. Bioware have traded quality for quantity, depth for scale but unfortunately cannot deliver such scale as effective as some other titles such as TES or Fallout. It can be summarized as this: You have round 10 really really good main quests (each lasts around 1-2 hours depending) some companion quests that are short but kinda good (the companions are, at least, interesting), and each region you get a mediocre region quest chain as you unravel the map. The rest are complete garbage. There is no context, the dialogues for them are just quest information dumps, most of those are fetch quests, and even quests such as finding the tomb of farhiel wihch sounds awesome feels empty since the cutscenes in these quests are either bland in the style of any MMO or absolutely no cutscene at all. Completely boring.

Combat wise, it's fun and fast paced but it gets boring as enemy variety is low, the gear you get is also lacking in different appearances and most of the time you get such boring **** (even duplicates) despite being legendaries. Its not bad, just mediocre.

Hence, what you get is around 1-2 hours of interesting stuff, followed by 10 hours of boring stuff then continue the cycle until you have exhausted your 15 hour interesting content. It feels like watching a good TV show but after 5 minutes of good show, you get half an hour of commercials.

Bioware, please make those RPGs that are contained, meaningful, and interesting. Linearity is good if it is done correctly.

Every once an a while you'll bump into a pack of wondering enemies to mix things up but the combat is so laughably easy especially if you craft your own gear. To be fair I didn't finish the game but I had seen enough to know that if I kept playing it would be the same boring fetch quests and combat for another 20 hours. As far as the story - its forgettable at best. Considering how bad everything else is I can't imagine it getting any better as the game progressed.

And not once did I feel like the character all the NPC's spoke in awe of. It's hard to when you're forced to do grunt work as the head of this self-proclaimed powerful organization. That 100 elfroot wont gather itself after all. The game's mechanics don't help the story at all, they just damage it.

Bioware, please give us another DAO, not this MMO disguised as a single player game. And please don't ever include time travel in any future game you develop. The dialogue and writing for the rebel mages path was so nonsensical and downright lazy I almost quit then and there.

You cannot on one hand use it's lineage for commercial and marketing purpose and on the other hand ask the same people to forget everything they knew and liked about it. Sadly as a DA Bioware game it is a massive letdown, i cannot even fathom how people could argue on that point.
This game should have been called Dragon Age : Funeral. As it is exactly that. it's a lavish, pricey, mundane funeral of what Bioware once was. Those who attend but had not particular conection with the deceased may very well have a good, socially interesting time, yet those who loved and mourn him wont.

As any blockbuster, its main concern is to appeal to as many as it is possible, focus on looks and keep it simple, marketting will do the rest. Job well done sarge !
You might want to contest that bioware did not built its fame and once-glowing reputation on simple, straightforward and good looking games, well with all due respect you ll probably be answered to go F. yourself deep in the woods with your lore-liking, tradition-respecting Dalish friends. (see, i can do background too !) Ea is in command now, and Ea do what masses don't dislike, whatever that is. As of now, it is free flowing Action Rpg with camera on shoulder action and lotsa flashy lights.
Tactical is for "has-been" nerds, nerds are non rational unmarkettable pricks that you cannot fit into small easy to reach boxes. Hell those punks value modding ! next thing you know they will tell you that a good story is worthless without a good narrator.

That is Inquisition, an heartbreaking picture of what could have been, a story that should have been great, a game that could have meant so much more to the people that made Bg and NWM into cult objects. Someone decided that the right thing to do was to appeal to those who don't give a **** about all that, don't be surprised if everyone that does resent it dearly.

DA2, while there were changes I over all didn't find them too frustrating I was intrigued by the story and how dynamic things had become. DA3.... The graphics as others have written are the main selling point. They crippled how you could customize your character, the inventory screen has become almost unusable.

Voice acting is decent but not up to the par of previous games. It feels like they tried to merge DA1 and DA2, and managed to take the most frustrating parts of DA1 and the most stupid parts of DA2 and cram them into well 1 + 2 does equal 3. The abilities have been nerfed into something resembling spam. Instead of many ways to spend talent points you have 4 paths.

While the talents seem interesting the farther one progresses in the game one realizes just how menial they all are.

    SWTOR is amazing,
    Mass Effect is amazing.
The Dragon Age series has more or less sunk into a toilet.

It's somewhat depressing that the people that brought us the original Fallout(s), Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Baulders Gate have completely forgotten how to make a CRPG.

Don't waste your money. It's not worth it until it goes into the $9.99 sales bin, even then it's a complete let down.

2 stars for graphics alone. Voice acting is sub par, story is actually disengaging as it just drags drags drags drags, the actual gameplay is purely stupid. Bioware removed extra options to the lowest possible denominator. So controls are simple... but its literally mashing 2-3 buttons over and over and over. Party AI has been improved ever so slightly, but they removed the vast majority of ways you could issue orders. It's like they tried to make it stupid proof and in the process managed to kill the customization of characters and ways to make the party work together as they all do their own thing.

"Everybody from warrior to mage do the exact same things but with different animations to make them feel special" is the motto of this game.

And @ DragonKnight.... If you claim EA has 'glorious enlightenment and guidance'.... I'll leave others to bash on you for saying that. You have demonstrated you are somebody who has no idea what they are talking about and can be disregarded.

If I were in charge of Bioware I'd take a careful look at how the *users* hated it and how the critics loved it. Helllllloooooo Electronic Arts influence.

    - I can't play this game without crashing my entire computer everytime i get into a dialogue.
(i mean full reboot because my pc completely freezes.)
    - BORING voice acting, at least for the female main character.
    - The characters from previous games didnt return as much as i had hoped for. I would've loved to have someone like hawke, or followers from previous games follow me around.
    - also i think there are way too little followers. I had hoped for more.
    - no mabari dogs :'(
    -The tactical camera SUCKS

It is certainly not a bad game, i would have given it a 8/10 if not for the lazy, terrible port.
I mean restarting the game to change graphics? The game crashing in almost every dialogue? Really? my pc just freezes and i can't even turn it of so i have to press the reset button. I run 2 gtx 660's in sli, 8 gigs of ram and a amd fx 8320. My cpu and gpu's dont get above 65 degrees. I underclocked them, so now my game crashes less frequent. FIX THIS FOR THE LOVE OF WHOEVER YOU BELIEVE IN!
Now i have this too with battlefield 4, and i think it is the engine they're running on. so please. use a different engine, it doesnt look that good anyway(my skyrim looks better).
I found the combat to be pretty fun, IF you dont use the tactical view which SUCKS!
and this all can be resolved with one simple patch. such a shame.
In the level up system you cant choose which perks you want to give to somebody. really why is this? for the stupid people who want to play games too? go play call of duty then. i find it a bit dumbed down overall. But still not that bad.

So would i recommend buying, not if you can wait a while till(if) this is fixed by bioware.

I played dragon age origins first and i was somehow more immersed in it than in da:i. even da:2 felt... better.

I was really looking forward to this, as I loved the first Dragon Age game. And what a game it is. I absolutely love the visuals, surroundings and gameplay. Unfortunately, after seven hours play I stumbled upon a game breaking bug. I suddenly couldn`t load my save games. I've invested more than 100 hours into this game and if I were to rate it as objectively as possible, I'd give it a 6/10. Let's see why:

First and most importantly of all, DA:I is very different from its predecessors. This is not the story driven RPG-adventure like DA:O or DA2, but rather an MMORPG-like third person sandbox with an incredible amount of collect/fetch/kill tasks. No, not quests, but simple meaningless tasks like "collect 36 pieces of ... spread throughout the world". This is by far the most salient aspect of the game and if you are completionist-ish, it will consume at least 80 percent of your time (but more like 90). It's only due to these simple tasks that DA:I takes such a long time to beat.

You can, of course, skip everything and focus only on the story and important side quests. But the problem is there almost aren't any. There are only few main story quests and some of them only function as an unlock for others. The quests take on average 1-2 hours, so I would say that the total story missions time is about 10-12 hours. There are few "full featured" side quests that have their own special locations and mini-bosses. However, like story missions, they are rather short and scare. They're also completely isolated from the rest of the game as if they were DLCs.

Many people complained about bugs and I am one of them. On my GTX660 @ Win 8.1, the game was constantly crashing (only in the cutscenes and at the war table, not in normal gameplay) due to DirectX errors. I recently bought GTX970 and reinstalled the system, and the problems disappeared. That doesn't mean the issues were on my side, however. The bugs are EA confirmed and they just don't manifest in my current configuration.

Most of the people say that the combat system and tactical camera are atrocious, but here I'd say one can get used to it. Especially the tactical camera is really really stupid, but you're not forced to use it. What's worse are the tactics and AI of your allies, which often do not follow you orders or get stuck in a corner etc. In harder battles this can get very frustrating.

But DA:I also has some bright moments. Although very short, the story missions are awesome and reminiscence of DA:O and DA2. The characters are typically Bioware complex with lots of romance options, conversations, and they react to each other. Even with all of its problems, the combats are fun and challenging (some battles even on normal difficulty). The are really powerful abilities for all classes that add variability to the combat system. Also on full details, the graphics looks very nice.

In my opinion, most people are just frustrated that the game did not turn out to be what they exptected and hance the low scores. DA:I is not a bad game, but not 85+ AAA hit either. In overall, the game feels somewhat empty, bloated with extremely dull, boring, repetitive, and meaningless MMO-sandbox-ish "content", with occasional spikes of Bioware brilliance. But as with others, being a victim of EA marketing and a fan of Bioware games my expectations were also much much higher, and despite of all the good things this game has to offer, I'd label DA:I as the biggest disappointment in years.

I really want to like this game but it has no redeeming qualities. It is a adventure MMO with very light rpg elements thrown in just to be able to label it an RPG. Customization is narrow and the story... oh my god the boring story and worthless characters. Imagine the worst MMO you ever played, with forgettable characters, cheap fetch quests over and over, meaningless plot development, and classes with "I win" buttons. That is DA:I to the letter. Even graphics, which are supposed to be incredible are ugly except maybe the environment. I hate the shiny finish everything has but I will let that go. The worst part of this game is gameplay. DA:I forces you into a story that you cannot really influence. You play it their way or you are SOL. For instance, in the winter palace, they actually put a timer on you to finish the quest when all I wanted to do was kill everyone in the palace. I actually wanted the assassins to win because I hated the other side. Do you have a choice in the matter? Nope. This is why it does not feel like an RPG. Nothing you do matters regardless of choice and the entire plot is very linear despite trying to fool you with a plethora of side quests and large psuedo-open maps. You either do as you are told or you lose. Back to gameplay, Mages and Warriors are poorly balanced. Mages can beat the entire game on any difficulty with 1 button (maybe 2 in case of emergency). Same with warriors. Rogues are absolutely attrocious because of all the melee AOE enemies in the game and their lack of survivability. Their only choice is to be archer which is fine to stay alive but they are so weak that they cant do anything on their own. Enemies get stuck while getting attacked, and so do your allies. You allies do not follow commands when told to do so. There is no strategy at all in this game. Crafting is worthless so far (25 hours in and the stuff i found is much better than anything I can craft). The loot system sucks the big one.

I have nothing good to say about this game except that it works and does not crash very much. I wish I could get a full refund.

The most impressive fights are the dragons which are outside the plot or quests. Not a single skill tree works as it should after it's implementation ] which means you have to forcefully play and gimp your character by using one of the broken skill trees which you CANNOT back out of of unless you revert to a save hours upon hours ago when you get the points to put into a tree that doesn't work or pick a cookie cutter build from the MOSTLY working trees.

And skills in multiplayer are bugged as well. On top of which bioware has failed yet again. Instead of the entire team working on single player they had separate teams working on crowbarring in a subpar multiplayer that puts money in EA's pockets via microtransactions to skip grinding to open unlockable chests ranging from many generic items to a chance at a a rare item.

This game is a mess from single to multiplayer. Riddled with bugs and tempting players with microtransactions to skip multiplayer grinding. This game need more quality assurance and more time in development.

100's of game of the year awards? How interesting because that would be an average of 5 bugs per award this game has. Had this game been pushed back into 2015 then it would have rightfully earned GOTY 2015. But that is not the case. It's a buggy, glitchy, gamebreaking game broken game with loading screens so long you can read 3 entire codexs and still be waiting for the next area to pop in with broken textures.

This was the nail in Bioware's coffin. They have fallen so far after becoming a subsidiary of EA. Bioware is long and dead. Bioware has been castrated above the eyebrows. They have continued to betrayed their loyal core audience They have lost their heart and have lost their way.

This game is not worth 30 dollars even with all the issues fixed. Which may never come.

4/10. It's barely worth the space on your hard drive if you torrent it. I do not suggest buying this game unless you are buying it for an RPG fan you hate.

I had this game pre-ordered long before it came out, and I'm not disappointed at all. As a fun game with enjoyable characters, story, and combat, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Personal bias worth including: I will admit I'm that person who never raised the difficulty of Origins over normal unless there was an achievement involved :P so that's worth keeping in mind while reading my review.

I'd give this an 5 - if it wasn't that Bioware isn't responding at all, the fixes actually broke the game even more and Bioware doesn't do anything on their forums against trolls who insult those who have problems with the state of the game. PR debacle #101

Voice acting is amazing, characters are absolutely wonderful (Iron Bull). I would have spent $100 to play this game if I had to. There aren't too many boring quests but I can defiantly understand where people are getting this grinding felling from however all of those quests are optional and make sense. For example one quest has you collect ram meet for a starving village, so you have to collect some ram meat. All of these quests are optional as well. performance wise I can run this game at 60+ FPS constantly with a 970 and 4790k both over clocked at right around ultra settings. I would recommend putting this on a SSD because loading times can be a bit cumbersome sometimes. Expand

They are just contributing to the downfall of PC gaming while getting fat off of endorsing any product for loootz. Seriously I don't have any respect for any game journalist out there.

The Consumer is the voice of reason and always has been.

I bought DA:I yesterday (off Origin of course) because they release only a tiny portion of boxed copies locally, forcing people to go through Origin where they can charge whatever they want because of exclusivity. I paid $80 AUD for a game that's been out of months (for a Digital copy) Now usually I don't care how much a game is as long as it's quality, but DA:I is anything but.

I was extremely excited to play this, having fallen in love with DA:O - (DA:2 not so much) The initial excitement lasted just past the character creation screen where it was crushed by the inevitable realization that this was another brain-dead console port.

The first kick in the teeth was the stupid un-intuitive console inventory, then my disappointment worsened when I saw there's only two slots for armor (really? two!) no belts, no gloves, no rings, no greaves, no boots, no jewelry ? - way to make a dumb game even dumber and more shallow.

Then there's the complete garbage skill trees, that were so generic and lack-luster I stood there for 10 minutes deciding do I want this crap ability or this other crap ability. Skipping that, I clicked on the Behaviors tab, not to my surprise, the items didn't even fit on the page so I couldn't even read them.

The Graphics- This is 2015 folks, the graphical quality in DA:I meet the absolute minimum standards for this generation of gaming. It's not an ugly game, but for this generation, I expect much better and in turn much better optimization. I've got the best hardware money can buy and I managed 40-70 fps on max, that is terrible optimization for these average graphics.

To top all that off, there is a horrible mouse acceleration issue that makes the camera stagger and jitter which feels incredibly bad. No amount of tweaking the sensitivity and smoothing made it go away. More remnants of the lazy console port.

Lastly, the combat is not fun, It takes me about 10 seconds to locate my damn cursor due to it being the size of an ant, and without any passive animation to give it away, I then start shooting enemies like my staff is a Gatling gun of sorts while my team "blink" around like idiots and everything quickly looks like a giant orgy, all the while I have 4 guys on me as a mage and they can't take aggro off me due to getting stuck on terrain, so I have to run at the pace of a sloth until they get their **** together.

The animations are bad, the effects are something you would expect from a 1999 RPG, and the path-finding is crap also making combat in general very unsatisfying.

Lucky I am able to get a refund for this POS. RIP Dragon age. (probably not thanks to console casuals gobbling this crap up)

As a standalone game this isn't a bad Mass Effect style game worth at least 6-7, but as the next chapter in DA RPG series it is appalling and deserves 0-2. That said DA 2 is crap and I played it for 30 minutes before giving up.

Just like the recent xcom game it appears that style takes precedence over substance with every aspect of the game streamlined down to make it "accessible".

Just like the recent xcom game it appears that style takes precedence over substance with every aspect of the game streamlined down to make it "accessible".

Combat is boring and has no tactics apart from button mashing. At a certain level you can pretty much hold the trigger until the battle is over.. Revenants are a joke - in origins you could guarentee one could annihilate your party single handed until you learned how to defeat them. Try simply clicking on one of the Baldurs Gates or NWN enemies...

NPC AI is woeful, you knock out an enemy and they ignore them.. Err, he isn't dead keep hitting him. And the NPCs.. God they are terrible - hearing Morrigan and then listening to Sera the fart joke making lesbian not elf; or Solas the elven version of Spock... Makes you miss the ability in BG to kill your own party members.....

The best comparison is probably Mass Effect 3 with the same fuzzy characters, lame carrying through of decisions, moralistic grandstanding and "inspiring speeches". In fact, it has the same saviour of the galaxy storyline.. Plus, this game probably uses the same engine and game mechanics as ME4 will. So in fact dragonage has become a reskinned mass effect 3... Perhaps they should have called the main character shepard to keep things simple..

Another annoyance with modern RPGs is crafting.. It has gone overboard in that one of the fun things about Baldurs Gate 1&2, DA:O was that you had to find the best weapons; they were legendary. Whereas DA:I like Elder Scrolls it is about farming dead dragons to get the ultamite bow / sword / armour. Instead of being a hero you are now a blacksmith / gardener / tanner...

The controls are dire as well.. Jump / Collect button combined? So you are in a fight and try to jump to escape only to pick up some cloth. Or you are trying to collect something and jump about five times instead. Same with talking to people / opening doors etc.

Character stats seem pointless as they don't seem to actually do anything? Increasing constitution doesn't seem to affect stamina (or is it willpower that increases that?). Don't know as it doesn't really matter.

The art direction also seems to have gone a bit strange, the best rogue armour (prowler) looks like something from pride and prejudice.. It looks really awful and the heavy armour, well it doesn't really look heavy does it (battlemaster etc). Plus, the armour magically changes depending which member or your party wears it.. WTF? Darkspawn look pretty bizarre and not at all frightening, they look like they are wearing chinese coolie hats.

Damn, i dont think my opinion on a game has ever been so convoluted as it is for Dragon age inquisition. Better to get the good aspects out of the way first. For the most part the War table aided the illusion of power, that is right up until the end where the fabric all kind of falls apart. To be honest i could see the cracks long before the end came, but i was having such a decent time with the characters and the combat that i almost didnt want to look to closely. That is another part of this game that is downright excellent, the characters. to say it is an improvement over dragon age 2 does it a huge injustice.

Choices dont matter. That is what pissed me off so much. SPOILER ALERT. Nothing you do, none of the power you built all throughout the game, all the grinding, all the spindle weed collecting, none of the political intrigue, not even your bloody army play a part in the final confrontation with Corypheus. What the hell bioware. It wasnt so long ago that mass effect 2 came out, that was an RPG, that final mission was **** magical. Do you guys remember what happens when you pick Jacob as the tech specialist? Thats right, he **** it up and dies. Nothing you do in inquisition seems to matter. I felt like i was on a conveyor belt from start to finish, picking up shards and bringing random items from point A to point B along the way. In the end, the story's main villain turns out to be a little **** it was harder fighting the **** bears in the hinterlands at level four. That would have been fine if i felt like i had earned the right to kick his ass, but the story sort of catapults you at him, with no real offensive preparation. All that work was seemingly for nothing, the entire inquisition army **** about in the arbor wilds while the inquisitor single handedly defeats corypheus.

I think there needs to be an inquisition of sorts in Bio ware. Less mundane side quests, less filler, and more of what matters, choices, characters, and improve on the beautiful world you have created. It all just felt hollow.

And it did not. The story is mediocre at best, certainly not on-par with Bioware's other offerings. The whole game feels like EA wanted to make an MMO using the Dragon Age IP, and then said, "Na, let's make this single-player."

The whole thing is grindy, almost ALL of the...ahem..."side-quests" are fetch or "go kill X number of beasts and bring back X number of hides." The whole endeavor feels uninspired, and it is honestly a chore to grind through enemy re-spawn after enemy re-spawn to gain XP so I can venture further in a particular area. And the combat. Combat is your run of the mill MMO combat with just enough left-clicking to justify an "Action-RPG" label.

All in all, I had more fun with Alpha Protocol. Wait for this game to come down to $20. It's worth having at that price. Not a penny more in my opinion.

    Boring Characters

First things first... Am a white straight gamer.. that`s really a Nazi Zombie as far as reputation goes these days and this game will remind you plenty that this game is not made for making me have a fun and evil male power fantasy.

The Sosial Justice Theme is there , for each 2 scouts for the inquisition you meet one of them is gay and you WILL be told about it. Its not too much in your face but it can get a bit tokenism and annoying.

Its ofcourse issues with companions yelling out but its low and tolerable.
The main problem is that the companions are so dull you dont really care who they sleep with and all the women look like men anyway so u wont really be thrilled about any form of romance. And that will be fine since there is only one straight woman to romance in the game.

Combat is also boring and the plot is a 30 fps blur that i couldnt care less about after just a few hours.

The quests are straight from a mmo, kill 10 goats for meat. and about as epic as a trip to wallmart

This is basicly Dragon Age 2.5 , a bit better plot, a bit less bisexual, allot more dissapointment.

Enviroments however looks great. and thats basicly the only thing i feel they did right

Take my advice, save your money for Witcher 3

    3) tell them that you are the Grey Warden and they will just lay off
    3) tell them that you are the Grey Warden and ask them to "donate some money to order", which was hilarious

and thats was just one small dialogue in very begining of the game.

The point here: in DA:I after the prologue, you get big, beautiful location (The Hinterlands) with literally ZERO QUESTS OR DIALOGUES OR CHOICE OR STORY OR CHARACTERS. I've mean it. There is no meaningful dialogue (aside of 3-4 characters which you could invite to the Inquisition - and where you have only 2 options - to accept or to decline with zero sense in option two - who in the right mind will decline if accepting have no penalty?). This location has dozens of quest like gather 10 {item} or kill 3 {animal}, but... god why?

Then, of course you have to participate in "story" mission, which means "very linear, dialogue-fiiled sections where your choice mean very little". Seriously i've not felt that dialogue options can actually solve problem without fight, or save life, or kill character, or effect world in any way.

So game (i've not finished it yet however) is single player early World of Warcraft sections without dialogues and choices + linear story filled sections with meaningless dialogues and almost no choice.

    Also:
    1) locations are stunning sometimes, but character models are dated, plastic and lifeless
    2) my character is pointless. He is non-existent. Dialogue options in homebase are all dull. I'am playing as dwarf-rogue with shady past in carta but all i could be is some degree of neutral faceless character. I've miss Dark Shepard. I could not "play a role".
    3) characters are ok, Casandra and Varic especially ok, but they have zero reaction to anything. "... approves" or ".. slightly disapproves" is all it gets. ok, they approve so what?..
    4) strategy element is non existing. you have one resource - power, which if you play WOW sections is limitless and "missions" and "agents" which all have 100% success rate. All you "weapons supplies" and "ships" you buy with resources does not affect strategy in any way, they just give you + 1 power.
    5) story is (so far) bland. So where are rifts in the sky and someone behind all of it, so you must close it. No politics, no difficult decisions, no drama, no characters, no choices.
    6) combat is ok, but nothing more than it.

    I'am disappointed so much.

They copied Skyrim in many respects. Respawns in outdoor areas. Gathering...complete with an animation for every single picked flower and mined ore. I personally find Skyrim boring without an audiobook playing, and DA contraindicates reading a book while playing. Skyrim has no plot, so, it works. As such, in DA:I I find myself bored out in the explorer zones. Think of an overly fat fantasy novel with too much purple prose to wade through...

The plot is looser knit, not as good as it could be. The ending is quite "meh".

Most of the outdoor zones qualify as filler, leaving most completionist types huddled in a fetal position on the floor...twitching.

The romances are interesting. The companions are interesting. But not enough focus rests on either. Like Bioware's focus was "off" somehow for this one.

    The big CONs.
--Multiplayer impacts single player in obvious ways. (Actions/hotbar limited to 7, no ability to switch weapons in battle.)
    --Dumbing down.
--NO Tactics (what is there is actually a joke)
--Your tank will follow your toon around, dragging her aggro with her...this is the "embedded" tactic. So prepare to have the Dragon or giant demon stepping on your rogue, rogue players.
    --Clunky mouse and keyboard controls
--Clunky combat with whacked auto soft targeting that cannot be toggled on/off.
--Your Inquisitor is forced to dress like a cheap 1970s villian whenever she is at home, prepare to have your eyes bleed.

The bubble wrap generation wins again with this game. Sad but true.
