The game is just a waste of time and a shame for BioWare. BioWare was before DA:I my favorite developer which developed my favorite games. And then they made DA:I. Unbelievable. What the hell happened to BioWare....

I really hope BioWare will not make an open world game again. No one wants an open world in a BioWare game. They should concentrate on their strengths: story, characters, presentation, quests, atmosphere,...

The story is very weak and lame, lacking any suspense or twist. You just couldn't care less about it as you play. NPCs have nothing good to say and there's absolutely no epic moments/cutscene in this game whatsoever. And omgg the characters!!!! How?? The characters are sooo stereotypical and extremely annoying. It's like Bioware is trying to force down their political correctness down your throat. Instead of being creative, Bioware opt to make the cast as multicultural as possible which makes the whole thing cheesy and utterly cringe worthy. You have the token Hispanic Josephine with the forced stereotypical Mexican accent; the African Vivienne, bald and exaggerated lips; one lesbian (Sera); and one gay (Dorian); a big brute 'American tough guy-badass attitude' Iron Bull; and a tough woman Cassandra to appease the feminists. These are unoriginal, poorly designed characters. Please, stop...

Another example of how they try to force it on the players, is they actually went as far as making one companion mission revolving around the issue of his homosexuality. Come on!! Look, I've got nothing against homosexuality. So we don't care about your sexuality, stop being insecure and sharing it with the rest of the world!! Bioware, if you want homosexuality/minority/females to be accepted, then you'll have to make the characters respectable. What you're doing is perpetuating their insecurities and making them vulnerable!!

Let's talk about the open-world aspect. Guys, you can't create a large map to explore and call it an open-world. You'll need a world you can interact with and to be able to immerse yourself in it. DAI fails to do this. The locations are very bland, and there's nothing to do!!! Not one side activity. Wtf??

I play on the highest setting, graphics looks washed out for some reason. It looks generic but I suppose it's an improvement over DAII. Combat mechanic, nothing to write home about. Better played on a controller. Romance is poorly implemented. And the game just feels rushed. It excels in nothing.

Overall, I'm so disappointed. It's Dragon Age.. I expected so much more. I didn't enjoy my time playing it and therefore can't recommend this game to anyone unless you're really bored and have nothing else to play. Bioware, please you'll need to step it up. I'm so worried about the upcoming Mass Effect.. Please don't mess that up like you did with DAI and that Mass Effect 3 ending.

This is one of the deepest gameplay mechanic games you'll come across with out multiple play through's. It's rewarding once you understand each team members mechanics and can use them to your liking. Great world graphically but somewhat weak overall experience due to gimmick battles and unlively meaningless side quests.

What a great game, I really did enjoy my time with it. A very interesting story that keeps you intrigued and wanting to come back to it when you're not playing it.

Completed it in about 60 hours, with most side missions done in the first half of the game and none really touched with the second half due to being overleveled. So yes, game is a bit imbalanced in that part.

Characters are unique and very well done with great voice acting.

Economy is a fundamental part of any game in my mind and in terms of what you can buy and do with the money you acquire is astonishing, which gives you a reason to loot (and there is a lot in this game, I can say to you now, if you do not like looting I can practically guarantee this is not yur game)

I had a lot of problems with it to run in cutscenes with frequents CTD (I had to play the game in a **** graphical setup for it not to crash) and believe me it wasn't because my hardware was getting stressed, not with a i7 2600K overclocked and a GTX 780 6GB of vram. Cutscenes tended to chop and lag, but when it got to gameplay wise it was fine. So can't really comment graphics wise due to not be playing at full settings, although I can comment about the hair I know that was rubbish it looked worst than straw no matter if you run that 'thing' at max or not nothing is saving that.

Love the feeling of importance it gives you later on which I consider what it's all about in a progression based RPG.

Combat is mmo type, I was a mage (which fitted also around the story, strongly recommended) and didn't mind holding down buttons to cast spells although I can see it would maybe be worse by being a warrior/tank type.

They could of done more with the relevance of letting a character like you or not, even though you get it constantly on the bottom right of your screen e.g ''Cassandra disapproves'' , ''Vivienne slightly approves'' etc it doesn't really make any real changes to the game in any shape way or form, the only real thing it's really there for is for romancing someone, which, if you play as a heterosexual male I may add, you have a very limited number of people that'll be willing to romance you no matter if you get to their full approval or not! So major flaw there.

But apart from those issues and the most of the side missions being very dull and genreic, I really enjoyed my time with the game and I consider that it's not getting the credit it should be getting for the game it is.

    Time Invested: 75 hours.

    Story/Characters

The most important element to me in an RPG is the story and its characters. I did not find many memorable characters in DAI besides the Inquisitor and Morrigan. Morrigan really doesn't even count unless you have played DAO since most of my interest to her stems from unanswered questions from the first game. I didn’t care for any of the companion characters as they all seemed dull and unexciting. As a result, I found myself engaging in less and less conversations with my companions as I progressed through the game because I could care less about them. Additionally, I did not romance a character because, as stated above, I didn’t really like or find any of the companions interesting so why put the effort in.

The overall story was just pretty “plain Jane.” Bad guy tries to take over world and good versus evil. Nothing new or really exciting here as well. To be honest I thought it was a bit boring and the villain was lame which added to this factor.

There is a lot of content in this game. However, the problem is much of it is mundane. Such as go to spot A to get this and come back to B. The quests just are not very engaging or have much of anything going on. I will say that the world itself has an atmosphere that it adds to the game and I thought it did exceedingly well at looking as a war ravaged land when it needed to.

I will say that the world state import was a very clever and unique idea by Bioware. Fans of the previous games will probably enjoy that they are able to customize what happened in the previous two games.

    Gameplay:

The controls and menus for the PC are best described as clunky. The tactical camera is awkward and it will take a little bit to get use to; the whole four times that you do decide to use it. Combat feels like a hack/slash and difficulty is lacking which means it stops being fun after about 15 hours. The only real challenge in combat is fighting the High Dragons, but after your first few, it can be a little tiresome since they have so much HP.

Your companions have terrible AI which can be painful at times. They constantly move out of position and fail to follow directions which makes you want slap them. However, the lack of difficulty makes up for their incompetence.

The outfits and weaponry look really cool, but as with many RPGs, I wish there was more customization to your character. Speaking of customization, your stats are really dumbed down in this game. Basically you can only pick certain abilities, but your character auto-levels his/her stats. This was quite disappointing.

This game came with a lot of bugs. Many of them have been cleaned up, but it still does not run nearly as smooth and clean as it should. The first few days of owning it and dealing with the bugs was terrible.

Long load screens….need I say more.

    Graphics/Sound:

I am not the type of gamer where graphics really are a big deal to me. I know many people would disagree, but I thought the game looked fantastic. The environment was wide open with great sights and had a lot of details.

One thing that Bioware seems to always get right is voice acting and it is top notch here. I will say that the music is amazing as well, but it is not playing nearly enough.

    Conclusion:

I admit that I had high expectations for this game which is why it was just a letdown. Don’t get me wrong, there is a ton of content here and room for a lot of fun, but I just expected much more from this series which seems to be declining with each new entry. The button mashing combat, clunky mechanics, bugs, hollow characters, and ordinary story is what makes this game average. I would say it is a slightly above average RPG because of its sheer size and loads of content. If you’re a fan of RPGs it is definitely worth a try, but you won’t be missing much if you do decide to skip it.

It felt good for the first couple of hours, but the after that... Yes, this have some really nice graphics... but... Here are some straight points.
1.- Your main character feels empty... I thought It was because the appearance I gave to it... but was more than that...
2.- Apart from some guys training, all the NPCs are static... I "forgave" that in the previous games, as in the Mass Effect serie, but in a game launched in the fourteenth year of the 21 century? Even in the Witcher one, the characters are walking around and even run when it is raining... And that leads to the next point...
3.- Static environments? Always the same hour of the day (per scenery), allways the same weather? 2014... Really?
4.- I read people saying this game was made to use with a game controller, not with keyboard and mouse... Wrong... I used a 360 controller and the camera also stinks with this... it gets stuck everywhere all the time... Good is really bad. And you can't even alter the distance in-game (just modifying a config file).
5.- Boring... meaningless sidequests... everything have been told about that.
6.- Confusing maps... You can try to go from point A to point B and choose a route just to find (after many battles on the way) you can't pass through there. I can understand that could be a tactic in small maps, if you want them to seem bigger... But this maps are already really big... why to do that?
When I was about the 60% I stopped making side quests... almost at the end I just lowered the difficulty because I just wanted to finish it so I could wipe it from my hard drive... It left me no good feeling when I finished it... (the last time I felt great and excited after finishing a Bioware game was with Mass Effect 2)...
Is logic there are people who liked it... There is diversity in the world... But I'll never trust on critic's reviews to buy a game. I'll just check the gamers opinions.

They kept the enhanced animation style of the second game (one very good thing that came out of 2) but slowed down the pace of fights just enough to make it feel reasonable, though still inferior to Origins for a couple of reasons.

One thing I remember complaining about in both DA:O AND DA2 was the atrociously obvious and frequent reuse of full area resources and the confining spaces of all of the areas in the game, and BioWare definitely responded to that... by going way too far... or possibly not far enough? The open area system, while beautiful and not without a sense of deserved freedom, allowed BioWare to cut too many corners in world development. The "minor dialogue" system made the so much less personal, and the new minor quest system was atrocious. You meet no *characters* in minor quests, merely talking objects. The open area system would have worked perfectly had these not been issues.

One side note on the areas in the game: I truly wish urban environments were more prominent in the game. It's just so much easier to pack character into a city than into a minor hamlet.

Ability trees were *comparable* in STYLE to DA2 (IMO DA2's levelling system was the best) but I use comparable (a vague word on its own) loosely as Inquisition's system was far more constricting and far less intuitive. For example: in DA2 an early mage could focus on a different tree to have an entirely different skill set and use from another tree. In DA:I however only a single tree differed significantly from the rest. Furthermore BioWare tied passive abilities directly to skill points and relied on armor bonuses to balance any balancing mistakes they made in assigning points to abilities. That one made be a tiny bit upset, as I like to think that I should be in control of who my character becomes. Along that vein specializations were designed very poorly. When some are objectively better than others you know there is a problem. And all of your teammates had specs identical to the choices the specs the player could potentially have, making the inquisitor literally only a nice copy of one of the other characters that you probably won't bring along because you don't need them. Stupid.

Combat was not as bad as some say, but it ended up worse than both DA:O and DA2 in many areas. The "Barrier & Guard" system worked okay but was not in the spirit of the games. I miss having to protect a healer and having a tank that could die if the healer died. That gameplay was thrown out the window by this system that I so loathe. Though strategy is far more important in Inquisition than it ever was in DA2, it had a far less sophisticated tactics system, which makes no sense. One simply could not control the entire team without resorting to using the horribly designed tactical camera to micromanage every character all the time, something a lot of casual players don't want to do.

All that said it's still a GOOD game. Sure it's not the best of its time like Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins and definitely not legendary like Knights of the Old Republic, but it should never be said that it was truly bad. It had issues, but so do many games, it really isn't so surprising. BioWare has just released 2 underwhelming games in a row, I expect (and hope) that they will take these things into consideration.

Well, that's a lesson learned; do not rely on a developer's reputation (Bioware) and do not rely on professional critics' opinions.

I'm not one of those who instinctively believes critics are 'encouraged' to give certain games high marks; I find it hard to believe that high profile magazines would engage in such nefariousness, but it is hard to understand why they have given such high marks to a game which is so obviously flawed.

Others have extensively listed the failings of this game but I will list a few out of a sense of catharsis:

-- The tactical camera is dire; you can't really see what is going on and which skills are being used. The classic Bioware games used to have, for instance, text windows displaying all the actions and numerical values. Of course given that the combat in this game is little more than simplistic button mashing, the limited feedback hardly matters.

And why on earth did the developers think it was good idea to have the camera stick on terrain and environment objects. It's strange that this quirk was in the original game but it has remained in place after all the patches. Bizarre.

-- Fetching and collecting. Most of this game consists of mind-numbing fetching and collection. Simply walking over to a point marked on a map to pick something up does not feel like gaming to me.

-- Respawning. This makes the boring easy combat even more pointless. At least without respawning there would be a some purpose to the boring combat as you clear an area, with respawning the combat is boring AND pointless.

-- Game difficultly is poorly balanced. The game is way too easy on normal level. To this complaint one might respond that there is a difficulty option which can be turned up but really a game should be released with the 'normal' level correctly balanced. Otherwise the player might be faced with unbalanced boss fights. Turning difficulty up and down, if required, throughout a game is not satisfying.

-- Levelling up is unsatisfying and boring. You can't allocate ability points, it's done automatically. And the skill trees are crap. Not only are the options limited but many of them simply add percentage improvements rather than interesting new abilities. There attempting to maximise your abilities would really be a dull exercise in mathematics rather than of tactical judgement.

-- Too much emphasis on crafting rather than finding exciting equipment. A lengthy boss fight almost invariably results in loot of lower standard than could be crafted. Cf the satisfaction achieved after defeating a difficult enemy in Baldur's Gate or Origins.

--The open world is usually fake. Topography (hills, mountains) are used to artificially limit access and railroad linear play.

-- Romance. I have no problem with the developers wanting to break new ground. However, it as absurd that all the intriguing romances are for minority gamers.

-- The minigames are pointless. The first time I came across and Astrarium and the Ocularium I thought they were cool ideas. I didn't expect same minigames to be repeated multiple times in every area. What were the developers thinking in believing gamers would want to play a minigame repeatedly that would be too simplistic for a Game & Watch game from 30 years ago?

Reading the interviews from the games developers, anyone who believes they have been chastened by the negative user reviews here are mistaken. Unfortunately sufficient numbers have, like myself, been taken in by the critics' reviews and developer promises.

Hopefully gamers displeasure with Bioware's direction will be made obvious and when they release their next RPG.

I was hesitating to write a review for DA:I, but finally I've reached the point when I really want to do it...

I've been awaiting this game for a while. It was promising take the best of what DA:O and DA2 had and to add better graphics and huge world with non-linear story line. And, when professional reviews started to give excellent grades to it, I was pretty sure that my expectations are correct. Well... so much for the "pro" reviews. The gme turned out to be a complete disappointment.

Let me first list the good things about this game:
    - environment graphics is great. Areas, weather effects, lights - everything is very nicely done.
    - sound track is nice (though, short for the amount of time one has to spend while new area is loading).
And that is it... That is REALLY it!!! Everything else about this game is falling very short of expectations, to say the least( and I don't mean bugs, game is solid enough in that respect).

So, what are the "bad" things:

One of the things that you will notice (besides very long times to load an area) in this game is the incredible amount of fodder content: something that you don't really need, but its there just to make up for the volume. The perfect example is jumping out even during the character design stage - for female character most of your hairstyles are some sort of "bald", with only couple of options of somewhat longer hair. Another nice example is the "mounts".

In general in the game you have all sorts of things to do: drive sticks into the ground near each stone with a picture; repaint castle walls, collect plants and stones so that you will be able to create items which are inferior to the one's you find in loot; collect mosaics; collect shards; do puzzles... while your "agents" are capturing spies and tracking whatever without you participating to it. And much of the content is going to be presented to you in written form.

The game play is fairly bad. While game has some notion of advanced battle system, equipment design and augmentation - the basic battle and equipment systems are oversimplified, while advanced features are way too over-complicated. And the main problem is that you can progress easy by using the oversimplified versions.

But the biggest let down is the story. BioWare was always good at presenting stories. Well, unlike DA:O or DA:2 here you have something like 15 seconds of intro animation and a bunch of black boxes of text to tell you your past. The rest of the story is also very predictable. It is pretty much linear, with couple of choices, that will take you along one path or the other. What is funny, however, is that while main story sometimes gets a back box, where you would really expect to have an animation sequence,- you will have an almost longish animated dialog about some LBGT who is being mistreated in the corner of the empire. Divine gets blown to pieces together with the whole castle of leaders - 1 second of animation. A gay son has a cliche reunion with traditional father - minutes of high quality rendering. Why didn't they include something about the Obamacare or skin cancer into the game, just for the heck of it?

Characters are also pretty shallow, and, in parts, repulsive. To make the things worse, your character is hysterically serious. You don't have any humor, your companions don't have much as well. On top of that, nobody is actually evolving over the course of the game. Both you and your companions have already accomplished personalities, and you only help them to handle their issues with the past.

So, to summarize, in DA:I they have:
    - failed to create a decent main plot
    - failed to create companions which you want to sympathise with
    - failed to create a likable main character
    - failed to create a consistent and unique atmosphere

What you have is lots of secondary content pulled together to wrap around poorly designed main plot. And that makes a very boring game to say the least. The replay value is close to 0 (considering that I cant force myself to even do it once. And if you've spent more then 10 Eur on it, you'd probably regret it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked the first Dragon Age game. It wasn't perfect but it was a classic BIOWARE role playing game focused on storytelling. After the huge mess that was DA2 I really had hopes for this game...

The storyline in DA Inquisition is boring as hell with no real suspense, no interesting plot twists and no real choices maybe except for some political decisions and romance options. The plot is unrealistic.. I mean I am the mighty inquisitor and in the process of saving the world I must gather herbs, stones, animal skin and help every bastard everywhere to do whatever . The big problem is that If u choose to do only the main quests u need a specific amount of power for each mission. And power is gained by doing some **** side quests like helping farmers and killing bandits.

I liked some of the story references to the first two games of the series (like meeting Morrigan or hawke). The graphics looks ok I guess. I liked the dragon design and the different environments but the gameplay is a big **** YOU to PC users. The controls are just bad...

The conversations are juvenile, full of clichés and the plot seems like a Disney good versus evil story in which the hero defeats the bad guy and they all live happily ever after. I never felt like one of the characters was in danger or that my actions would somehow influence their fate like in Mass Effect 2.

Regardless of how you play, the game will end the same... there is no good / evil ending like in KOTOR or Jade Empire. At least in DAO you had some options related to how you could complete the final mission.

DAI is not a bad game it's just mediocre at its best. The main problem this game had was that BIOWARE and EA brainwashed us into thinking this was going to be a game of epic proportions thanks to all the **** trailers and promises from the developers. But in reality it's just an average game. Too bad BIOWARE is not what it used to be.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, so to start, yes I made an account solely to review this game but I legitimately hate this game and need to purge some of my rage, also I have the PS3 version but I' not posting on the PS3 page because no one will see and most of my complaints are about the game itself not the system port , but the port is still Very Bad, the PS3 version had a horrible 1st day, the game had rendering issues, clipping issues, dialogue issues, it was terrible, I've seen the other versions have better graphics and that frustrates me because it's obvious this is meant as a tech demo for those consoles, the updates for this have seen the game freeze and crash more easily and frequently on the WAR ROOM MAP screen which is disgraceful, beyond that the "update" has not fixed the numerous framerate issues and freezing bugs but has made the game worse during my 3rd attempt at play, all and all it's obvious that the game is meant as a tech demo for new consoles making the ps3 version unnecessary and painful to play considering now EA has given up on it, now for the game itself, it is shallow, the games story is copy and paste from every fantasy rpg ever, and often steals ideas from other better games, I call this stealing because that i exactly what it is, inspiration implies that you will work the concept into your story meaningfully and make it your own, but this game doesn't, the dragons, while a cool addition and challenge, serve no purpose other than to exist, the recruitment system for random npcs is pointless as you will never see them again and notice no change in faction resources which themselves are pointless and shallow, The game forces you to garner resources and materials for no other reason than, "You might need it" but in all honesty you never do, the strongholds you conquer are useless and are simply camps with stores that sell useless gear considering the crafting system, which Is will admit is extremly deep and well thought out, makes buying weapons pointless seeing as how you will either find the gear from drops or make it yourself, quests are tedious and frustratingly dull, go here kill this, go there find item A give to person B who is dead leading to combat C, over and over again, "RIFT CLOSING" is exactly what I dreaded it to be, kill fade monsters, use hand on rift for buff, kill weakened monster, close rift with boring button press and weak animation "yay", combat requires no strategy because of the actually really competent friendly AI and the "rush you hit you" enemy AI with predictable and abuseable movement and attack patterns, progression is unstable and down right cheap, with you being completely weak and unable to kill any enemy at one level, but one level and bam your unstoppable, there is no skill point distribution anymore, nor any non combat skill trees, but instead, skill trees with "abilities" ripped straight from "babies guide to rpgs" this loss of depth makes combat even more weak it becomes tedious and difficult to feel strong when there is no way to see your base number stats, this games idea of big number means better is idiotic and not bioware should be doing if it still wants to stay relevant, the characters are dull recreations of bioware trope characters, with some given differing sexuality or racial preference, as a way for bioware and EA to get a participation medal from the LGBT community for there "crafting of breakout gay characters" which are just stereotypes or characters who were simply made gay last minute, the game is unforgiving to new players and old fans in its story as those who have not read the entire lore of the dragon age will never understand what is going on and even then it is never explained how the the main "villain" is alive after being slain in a past game beyond "idunno" the ending is an annoying cliffhanger and a set of slideshows with descriptions on our choices as apposed to actually showing us a cutscene of our decision, how this game gets away with a cliffhanger ending is beyond my comprehension. the answers none of the questions left in previous games, and for those who wish to argue that it should be judged as a single story and game, YOU CAN'T, the game relies on it predecesores and references them constantly making this an undoubtable third game in a series, other than that for those who used DA Keep in order to recreate your story, prepare to be met with a insert your decision here option with no real effect on the world of the game. All and all this game is a thrown together mess that was made by EA and EA alone seeing as has Bioware has ceased to care about its creations and only wishes to exist as a way to make money off of dlc and microtransactions. I was extremely hyped for this game and convinced many of my friends to pre order it, I as exstatic when I bought this game, and now I can safely say that this is my most hated game that I have ever played, if you really wish to buy this game, buy it used or rent it EA doesn't deserve a dime. The story, which developer Bioware are renowned for, has a few good moments but overall is uninteresting with a weak villain and a terrible ending. The characters in the game are a mixed bag; some of them are good, particularly your advisors and some cameos from previous games, but for the most part they are weak: with the exception of three, the rest of your companions are forgettable due to in large because of the weak dialog throughout the game and the poorly done side missions. At the end of the day, you spend the entire game gathering resources and power for the Inqusition, only to find out that you might as well didn't do it, since the final battle doesn't put any of them at use.
Overall, it's not a bad game, at times you can have fun with it, but it is most certainly the weakest entry in the franchise and overall fails to deliver what was promised to us.

I believe it was blown a bit out of proportion of how big these maps really are though. About double is what I expect would have truly given this description a real meaning, as not once did I actually have to search for something. That said the environments are beautiful and great eye candy to fill you screen time with.

Gameplay: In these terms, I did not quite feel as engaged with the gameplay in Inquisition. While by no means dead boring, It isn't inherently exciting either, after about an hour or two of combat I felt myself yearning for more story. You roam the map for a bit, get a little side quest, run into a rift to close, complete and move on. Needless to say, closing a rift gate could have been a bit more involving than kill these, and press assigned key to close.

Story: It's Dragon Age, full of history, characters, simultaneous plots, and stories intertwined. The demons are really the least interesting personalities, and they could have made them more charismatic. Otherwise, same old great plot.

Content: Some say too much, but IMO the more the merrier. Some pieces did not fit as well as they should such as crafted, and mounts. But still full and rich.

Making the game more immediately responsive and permitting multiple simultaneous actions (moving, strafing attacking) would have helped it out. Alternately, the game would be much improved by just pulling out the Baldur's Gate UI and using that to navigate this world. Splitting the difference is a lamentable choice.

While it looks nice and character customization seems deep at first, the level of fine detail is overwhelmed by some locked in facial forms that push male and female facial structures close enough together that one must actively avoid signaling as the opposite sex. Cutscenes, of which there are few, seem half realized with characters holding their limbs awkwardly and facing in weird directions. The overall feel is very alien as if made by someone only casually familiar with what people look like, or whose only human interaction was with the most gawky and awkward teens the world has produced.

I'm sure with some heavy modding this game could really turn heads, but as it stands the game doesn't seem very well realized and I'd recommend passing on this game. Normally I'd call a game like this average, but it doesn't pass the basic test of being on the same level as free to play games.

It would seem that EA has incorporated all the "improvements" that drove me away from Everquest and World of Warcraft.
I have seen this before. It happened with Sir-Tech's Wizardry and Sid Meir's Civilization. Sony ruined Everquest and Blizzard has substituted housekeeping and managing for adventuring, with seven or eight different "currencies" to by things that contribute nothing but cosmetics to the game.
I will give Inquisition one point for nostalgia, but the trial version is not worth the time it took to install, or play.

It looks good, graphically. There are some places are just gorgeous and others where I found myself going...wow that looks so 2010. I guess the best way to describe it is 'pretty'.

The gameplay was fine initially but I found myself getting progressively more and more bored with it. It starts to feel the same after a while. The combat is one dimensional and being tactical was merely to try and beat the harder fights...and even then there were only one or two different options. Most of the time I was just blowing through fights...and then I'd just hit a wall and have to struggle.

The story was the only reason I stuck around as long as I did, but I found that it still felt rather dry after a while. It wasn't as engaging.

I was not really impressed with the voice acting. It felt forced. The dialogue itself was pretty good, but the delivery left a lot to be desired. It's like they tried too hard to make interesting characters and just ended up making everyone weird.

The romance options weren't that great. The sex options weren't that great. Seriously? Why so many non-heterosexual options? They're literally 10% of the population, come on.

Overall I felt the game had potential but I just couldn't slog through it. I started to lose interest and just sort of stopped playing it. I guess I'll eventually go back and finish it, but the hype just ended up being hype. The game wasn't as great as everyone thought.

This game got a lot of praise from reviewers and i heard terms like "Bioware is returning to form" being thrown around. I don't know what these people are talking about. In my opinion this game is mediocre at best. I will say that it feels like a honest attempt to make a good rpg compared to Dragon Age 2 but the result is just not especially good in my opinion.

Lets start with the technical problems. There are bugs, physics issues, insane loading times and performance issues. The loading times in particularly were truly horrible. But hey i might have been the unlucky one so lets ignore the technical stuff and look at the actual game.

The story is pretty weak in itself. They are trying to explore a bunch of different stuff in the story but the story is basically limited to very few actual story missions which causes most of the story to feel underdeveloped. I don't want to spoil stuff but i just found the main plot to be fairly uninteresting and underdeveloped not to mention that there is a lot of dumb **** in it.

There are some nice character interaction with your companions in the base though and i would guess that this is the saving grace for some people. The dialogue wheel is back and it is awful as normal but there are a bunch of romances and stuff and people into this **** will probably get their fix from this.

But the biggest problem with the story and its character is that 90 % of your time with the game will be spent exploring the different environments in the game. And this is basically totally separated from the plot completely. Sure you can have your companions with you but they don't offer any input or dialogue options except from some party banter so who cares.

These areas do for the most part completely lack interesting quest, dialogue options, companion input or any meaningful stuff that you would expect from a roleplaying game. It is basically just the standard ubisoft open world nonsense combined with some boring as hell mmo grindy quests. I do like the the environments and how varied they are but they are just filled with complete nonsense.

So the majority of the game is just complete filler that has very little to do with the main story and its characters. This could be acceptable if the combat was enjoyable but it gets old really fast. The tactical camera is **** so you want to play this game with the third person camera. Jumping between characters with the third person camera is a bother and since you don't really need to do this at the normal difficulty you will just play it as a normal mmo. This is completely mindless and gets boring really fast.

And even if you are a masochist and want to try to be tactical there are still not a whole bunch of interesting abilities to use.

Being forced to spend so much time doing something that is boring and not plot important is bad enough but it also destroys the pacing of the story entirely.

I am getting sick of writing about this game but here are some more stuff that i would like to complain about.

    - Lot less character customization. Only ability points left.
    -Gui suck
    - less equipment slots than before
    -boring effects on rings
    -few meaning full choices
    -war room nonsense
-beep beep beep .... searching mechanic

Overall it was just a very mediocre game. Absolutely not terrible but at the same time not anywhere near being good. I should mention that i have completed the game.

Forget it, their personalities are so hollow and boring you just can't bother to withstand the amount of effort in it. There's not even a great pair of **** you can go after.

The story is weak and thin. Where in DOA you went on an epic journey to gather an army to battle the arche demon; Inquisition feels more like political drama, where you attend a lot of pointless meetings. Unfortunately the story resembles quite a lot the story in Dragon Age 2 - let me elaborate, you complete what you thought was this "end of the game goal" (like in DOA where you defeat the arch demon), in the beginning of the game and a whole new problem arises.

The worst part is though, the massive amount of necessary grinding, I mean Jesus Christ, as some other people put it, its like playing an MMO-RPG in single player, if you want to get a small edge over you enemies in this game, prepare for several hours of mindless grinding for that god damm flower you need, or ores, or gems, or cloth or whatever - some of it is even drops from mobs with an extreme low drop rate.

The only good thing about this game is the graphics, but i simply refuse to give a good score because of that - you're better off just looking at a benchmarking program.

You could consider this review as incomplete, since i stopped playing after chapter two. The guy who told me for the 30 th time to go gather x amount of y for him, can shove it!

The main problem is that everything is not so merged. I had this feeling of not continuity, where I was exploring places totally disconnected from the main story, but without a real goal. It's just exploration and it gets repetitive as every area has the same format (camps, rifts, etc.).

I had hard times feeling part of a group: the mages, or the elves, I could never really immerge myself in the world they created.
I can't give it a bad score, because as I said the game is huge and detailed and very good, but still it's not what I hoped.
I guess you can't make a wonderful game like DA:O that easily and both the 2nd and the 3rd dragon age fail to be as good as the 1st was.

In all honestly they want all games to be practically the same and over react if anything is slightly different. The RPG is highly endangered to this homogenization effect. For this reason Metacritic is not entirely the most reliant, because niches get attacked by the wider audience. This is a niche game, don't doubt that for a second. Bioware willingly creating niche games shows they are not nearly as lost as people like to say. The real issue is that the genre RPG should be split into more than one genre, so that people don't buy a game expecting one type of experience and are shocked to find something else. If you liked Baldur's Gate than you will appreciate this game. If you are a general fan of old school style RPG's you know by know that developers try new things with each installment. That exploration and questing is the best part of the experience. That you can't fully grasp how exceptional these games are until you've played them for 50 hours, and even then you are just barely getting started. If you are the type of person who likes to play one game for months on end, than this is the game for you. If you would rather get something down in one setting, or jump into some quick matches than this game will not please you by any means. If you get bored easily and need something shiny and new to entertain you every day and are likely to have a tantrum if you don't get it, than this is not the game for you. It will not mix well with any semblance of a casual audience. It is not a game for the impatient, but for those who like to take the scenic route. Go for skyrim or call of duty if you are looking for a more easy pick up easy put down experience. Not knocking those games, just saying they have a different design to their core. This game is meant to be experienced over many, many hours. It is meant for you to get lost in the confusion, the experience, to seek answers and discover new things. It is massive, intense, beautiful, inspiring and thoroughly immersive. A great accomplishment for bioware as a whole. Expand

Does this progression from game to game make sense to you? It doesn't to me.
Why the need to project the player to ever greater levels of global significance? To me it doesn't feel genuine, but rather quite forced - far better surely to build on the strengths of the original game.

It was quickly apparent that with the Dragon Age series, the devs simply made the games they wanted to make in the way they wanted to make them - unfortunately for us fans of Origins, this meant breaking what wasn't already broken - in the way combat was overhauled in Dragon Age 2 for example.

Though an improvement on said predecessor, it can't help but feel like both a slightly better version of DA2, a mediocre version of Origins, and more the former than the latter.

Some glaring issues include: a return of the brawn-over-brains combat system from Dragon Age II, extremely repetitive enemy types, which cannot number more than 10, the repetitive Oblivion gate knock-offs, the endless fetch quests, which actually ruin the pacing of the game by leveling your character up too quickly, the total lack of instruction in regard to the level requirements of each area, and the total uselessness of money through much of the game.

The ending is also pretty shockingly short; this game isn't a total rush-job, but the content is definitely quite thin and only moderately worth your time.

The game does, at least, offer some grudging RPG mechanics like the stat-crunching and loot collecting that all rpg fans love and enjoy, and some vestige of the multi-series storylines and Origins characters that players have come to love and expect. The game also thankfully has player commands and a tactical camera, despite being clear afterthoughts.

It's only worth playing if you've gone through pretty much every other RPG out there.

DA:I is better and worse than DA:O Because it's Graphically brilliant and plays brilliantly with nice Dragon fights. You have your own Castle and Troops and so own. The down part is the romance isn't as good as DA:O but much better than DA2 as you only got kissed 3 times in that.

This game deserves all the bad reviews it gets. Some may not be that eloquent and others may not present good arguments but you only have to read a few other reviews to understand why so many fans are unhappy with DAI. I was so excited for this game but nothing prepared me for the massive disappointment that it ended up to be. I am a huge Dragon Age fan. I love DAO with a passion and I also enjoyed DA2 very much despite all its obvious flaws. The thing I love about those two games is that it had a very compelling storyline, interesting PC, intriguing and likable NPCs with an enjoyable combat. With DAI I feel like all of that went down the drain.

The controls in this game are terrible on PC because it's an obvious console port. The UI, specially in inventory, is not PC friendly. Things like click to walk and click to loot are no longer there and auto-attack was also not present until recently when they decided to patch it in because of the fans outrage. The best part is that they said in a video that DAI was made specifically for PC. They also said the tactical camera in DAI is exactly like Origins. Laughable at best. This "great" tactical camera of theirs has no edge scrolling, bumps into every freaking object and it constantly gets stuck on cliffs, fences, etc. It's completely useless indoors because you can't see past the ceiling, so basically you can't see sh*t because it's so close to the ground. And even outdoors, trees and buildings can get in your way.

The combat is just terrible and incredibly limited. Mages suffered a complete downgrade, all the variety of spells we had are gone. And remember those badasses, scary enemy mages that could wipe out your entire party in seconds? In DAI, mages are these weirdos with flying books who constantly spam fire and ice mines and that's it. Everything looks like a circus show, with flashy lights everywhere. Then there's the stupid AI. The "hold position" command is the most infuriating thing. You can send Solas to a top of a rock to stay away from melee fight and tell him to hold position but as soon as you change characters, he will run straight to the middle of the fight. You have to constantly babysit everyone otherwise they will chug down all health potions within the first 2 seconds of a fight and then get themselves killed another second later. And all of this happens because there is no tactics! A complete downgrade from the last two games. We also can't choose attributes for our characters, the game does it for you. There is also no class diversity, no more archers or dual wielding warriors, mages can't even pick up a sword. Then there's the slots limit, only 8 skills! You can't even access your spell trees during a fight, same with changing weapons. And don't forget the 3 potion slots and incredibly limited health potions. Oh but wait, there's more, no more healing spells! Because you know, they want us to feel "challenged" or something! So they expect us to just ignore the fact that healing magic randomly disappears from Thedas all of a sudden.

Everything else, story, characters and the Inquisitor are just mediocre. The Inquisitor is this complete blank slate that has no personality, no background and no connection to the villain. They are just this random person who fell out of the sky and suddenly became the savior of the world. And because they are the leader of this big organization you can only have diplomatic dialogue choices, no more being a smartass or plain evil like the warden, or being sarcastic like Hawke. The main storyline is cliche, the villain is cliche, just the typical maniac that wants to destroy the world because "muahaha evil". There is no real struggle, everything is handed down to you, there are no consequences, no one dies or suffers, everything is rainbows and butterflies. The so called villain disappears in the beginning of the game and let's you destroy all of his plans and then shows up at the ending only for you to kill him with only 3 people at your side in a 5 minute ending. Completely rushed and anti-climatic. The worlds are empty, static. NPCs are like statues, they show no emotions and I believe part of that is because when you are exploring these huge worlds and interacting with NPCs, you don't get a single cutscene. Because of that I felt really disconnected from the worlds and NPCs. The worlds are also filled with filler quests (go fetch this, go kill that) and are overwhelmingly huge. They have nothing to do with main story and they are there only for exploration purposes, not story. Generic mobs constantly spawning 5 seconds after you killed them. Companions overall feel very weak, I felt like the game didn't give me enough opportunities for me to feel something for these characters. With the expecting of a couple of characters, I feel like most were forgettable, just like everything else in this game.

Then we have the crappy characters that i personally felt were the weakest in all three games, followed by retcons and forced implementations of SJW crap. The combat was poorly done and they butchered the tactics system which made the first two games fun. Honestly this game was my most disappointing game of 2014. Like you'd be fighting wolves that no longer yield experience for your level, and then a level 9000 zombie comes flying in out of nowhere. It made no sense whatsoever. Fighting pointless, grey level enemies then getting clobbered by a red elite just isn't fun.

I liked it, but then all the little things started taking the fun out of it. Gameplay, the world wasn't immersive, it wasn't like DA2 enough for my tastes, cookie-cutter character builds, cookie-cutter NPC's with low-content convo, strange looking people with shiny lips and skin that looked like they were wearing baby oil, poor mob level zoning, cookie-cutter quests, long drawn out missions, slow gameplay, clunky interface, no easier difficulty setting, large low content zones that got depressing and dragged on forever.

It didn't really deliver on what it said it was, like it only made a half-hearted attempt, kind of like they half-arsed it and then said it met their criterion. I didn't really want to live in that world and couldn't get immersed in it as much as I did in DA2. I missed the snappy conversations, easy and quick quick action, and cheesy yet charming Hollywood-style convos and gameplay.

It was fun but the newness wore off. I'd say DA3 was maybe a 4. Which means it really isn't worth playing in the long run. I spent the $60 and at first I liked it, but after about a week when the newness wore off, I found the game to be depressing and disappointed. I'd say it's really a $20 dollar game. I probably won't revisit it, since there will always be something better to play, and if I need to, DA2 hits the spot for my Dragon Age fix.

For these reasons, I must reluctantly chop the game with a big red 4. It's 'almost' an average game that I could replay. But not quite.

Note that some of the text is tiny (item properties for instance), and depending of your system, you will have more or less difficulties to read it, some people can't even decipher it, and the fact that text is written in capitals is not helping at all.

    - If you like static sky and clouds, you will be glad: nice paintings.
    - Six month after the release, there is still huge bugs like one of you team member frozen during combat, especially melee characters. They are ordered to attack, but they are stuck, not moving, not doing anything. If you try to move them by controlling them, it's impossible, you will have to manually use an ability first, then it's ok.
    - Quite often, the camera control breaks during combat: i'm on PC, and right click won't work anymore for any character, so if it's challenging engagement, you'll just die.

NB: I currently have 152 hours of gameplay, and not yet finished the game. I suppose I love the Dragon Age franchise...

The closest Corypheus gets to his moment of triumph is at Haven, where he sacrifices most of hes army to destroy a small village, again proving he has no clue what he is doing, in fact i fail to take him seriously, i think Turner D.Century or Egg Fu is better villain than Corypheus.

As for the game it's easy even on nightmare, Main Story is mediocre,Side quests have no context nor do they aid you in your struggle against this laughable foe (Corypheus)
rendering them completely useless or not worth your time.

Gameplay is made for violent 12 year-olds kids, games fast pace and MMO-like combat makes any attempt of skillful strategy useless as game gives you option to just charge in and button mash your opponent to death making tactical screen useless.

Not to mention i want to kill almost every character in the game aside from Solas, Sera and Jossie.Even my Origins favorites like Morrigan, and (unusually happy considering the situation Redhead rouge named ) Leliana.

The game is a bit overly large with tons of pointless side quests, but it runs relatively well, has a good story, with extremely well written characters, a given with bioware, the problems mostly come because its trying to spread over too much but in the era of overly short games this should be rewarded instead of punished.

This could easily be due to the fact that the game was forced to conform to the hardware limitations of last gen consoles, a decision that has frustrated fans of many other games to no end. In spite of this, Dragon Age Inquisition is a fantastic RPG experience amidst the sea of disappointing titles to grace the gaming industry in 2014.

The story is one of Bioware's weaker ones, though it is leaps and bounds beyond the atrocity that was Dragon Age 2. It was generally intriguing and provided fascinating snippets of lore that excited me, as a fan of the series's backstory and world. It does well in the aspect of conveying the sense that you are the leader of a world changing organisation, however it is poorly paced. The first 15 hours of the game blaze by at a lightning fast pace, only to have the plot slow to a crawl after reaching Skyhold, and without all of the side quests and companion quests, the game is rather short, and the ending is one of the most anticlimactic endings I have seen in a game for years. Even the final assault on the Citadel Beam in Mass Effect 3 was more intense, until the last 10 minutes of that game of course. Dragon Age Inquisition ends without much resolution to many of the problems the people of Thedas have faced for centuries. All it does is provide a slideshow detailing the outcome of the Mage-Templar war, which is unsatisfying to say the least. The story does provide several stand out moments, most notable the mission where you are sent to gain the help of the Rebel Mages, as well as several others that cannot be mentioned without spoiling the game.

Despite all my criticisms of the main plot, the rest of the game is extremely well presented. The visuals look gorgeous, the new vast landscapes and environments to explore look like they've been lifted straight out of a medieval painting. Sound design and voice acting are excellent as well. The characters are humorous and well written, party banter is hilarious, especially with Dorian in the party. The numerous crafting and customization options really make you feel as though your character is truly your own, something which Dragon Age 2, and the Mass Effect series struggled to achieve. Combat is intense and frenetic, the sound of crackling spells and flying arrows coupled with brightly coloured damage numbers popping over the screen provides a satisfying combination that is both enjoyable and challenging.

Dragons are one of the major selling points of the game. Their behaviour has been completely overhauled, not longer do they feel like one of many bosses sitting at the end of a long corridor, but their dynamic movement and interaction with the environment they live in truly brings them to life, and the fights themselves outdo any attempt to portray these massive scaled creatures in any other game(Yes Skyrim, I'm looking at you).

Overall, Bioware failed to deliver on their promise of a truly dynamic world, much of the content showed off at the PAX and E3 demos were cut from the final release, presumably due to hardware limitations, which is a real shame, however what we got in the end was no less than any of their previous efforts, excluding the 100 hours of side content, we still get a 40 hour long game filled with everything that makes a Bioware RPG what it is. Despite its shortcomings, Dragon Age Inquisition gets you more than your money's worth, and is a great game.

I banked a lot of hours into Dragon Age but the game just didn't feel right, I kept playing and playing hoping to reach that "turning point" everyone talks about where the game gets better but it never came. It felt so hollow like Bioware just through in content for the sake of having content. The game manages to be so enormous but lacks the depth you'd expect from Bioware. I wanted loads of content but I wanted it to be meaningful, I wanted to care about the world and the characters but nothing truly grabbed me.

DA:I being an RPG, needed to a world that the player can immerse himself in by creating a unique character that can interact with the world in a meaningful way. Having a gazillion hollow side quests with poor dialogue removes that sense of immersion. In short DA:I has all the quantity you could ever ask for but lacks the quality you would expect from it.

If you like being overwhelmed by worthless hollow content that will definitely take hundreds of hours to complete, then Dragon Age Inquisition is for you. Otherwise, go play a true RPG like the Mass Effect series or Fallout New Vegas.

Candy crush saga arrives to rpg thanks to EA and Bioware.

Again a Ripper alien trying to destroy the world. Again a hero that have to save the world. Origins grey history ruined on Dragon Age 2 and stabbed on Inquisition.

Really disappointed with this game. Really sad.

It would have been a great MMO; as a single player it is, at most, boring. There is no real RPG in the game, interaction with the world and other NPCs is purely cosmetic.

Lame Controls. Fked up Techtical View. Boring side quests. Ugly girls that are not modable at all.

Won't give it 8/10 were I not a DA fan... Most likely a 7/10... Lost faith in BioWare since ME 3.

The production value of the game is as amazing as you would expect. A RPG on the Frostbite Engine is just fantastic to look at. Dialogues are fully and very profesionally voiced. I have to say though that the voice acting of the player character (male human at least) is the weakest of all main characters. He sounds like an easy to impress/astound little hipster with no authority or character whatsoever in his voice. Meh.

The gameplay is very fun.. for the first 30 hours or so. The problem, at least for me, is, it plays like an offline MMO. So you wander around the map constantly picking up herbs hear, ore their, loot hide everywhere. You do this to craft items and such. That's all very good in an mmo but why do I have to do this as the head of an world saving organization? Don't we have some peasents to do that? On the first map you enjoy all these side activites. But as late as map 3 you realize it's the same procedure everywhere you go. They absolutely wen't for quantity over quality so they can claim to have generated 120 hours of "content" (I hate that word).

The combat is very weak. On PC you have the choice between 3rd person MMO combat and group selction tactical combat. The latter is absolutely pointless. They did not even manage to put in such a zoom level that allows you to overlook even half the battlefield. So you're left with 3rd person combat, wich is boring. Click on an enemy, keep LMB pressed - auto attack, throw in to occasional spell or skill. The combat is one of the weak points in this game wich is baffling.

I have issues with the world design as well. First of I'm not a big fan of Thedas in general. I find the Dragon Age universe very generic compared to places like the Forgotten Realms, Tamriel or even the Shadowrun or Wasteland universe. Humans are humans, elves live in the woods, dwarfs live in mountains. Yeah. I heard that a million times. But while other games and worlds have something to set them apart, there was nothing in Origins or Inquisition that really excited me to learn more about Thedas. It is the total opposite of the Mass Effect universe to me.

Another major issue for me is how the game actively forces you to engange in religious motives. It starts out with you being public enemy no.1 and 45 min later you are the "herald of andraste" and the people lay at your feed. I don't have anything agains religious themes in games but I always had the choice to keep that seperate from my character. Not though in Inqiusition and that makes me really uncomfortable.

I grew up on Baldurs Gate 2. It is my favorite game of all time and as my gaming life has gone on I more and more realize and enjoy that nothing will come close to it. It is still sad to see that it's original makers have somehow no idea how the recapture the essence of their old masterpieces. Bioware is officially beyond their prime.

You! Yes, you! The person who is reading this because they correctly came to Metacritic thinking "The 'professional' reviewers can't be trusted because they are paid shills, lets check the user reviews on Metacritic" I am talking to you when I write this review. Every bad user review on this game is true. Listen up.

First off, look at the User Score, then the "Critic Score" on this site. What a friggin' joke.

Everyone is absolutely correct when they say this game feels like a completely empty, lifeless, dead, static, single player MMORPG. The majority of the "content" in this game is just collecting stupid things like flowers and bits of ore and animal meat, just to complete MMO style check lists. I mean, the quests to "collect x out of x" even appear in the top corner of the screen like friggin' World of Warcraft! This is an MMORPG without the 'MMO' part, and VERY little of the 'RPG' part too!

I have absolutely no flipping idea what the developers were even thinking or doing during the design meetings for this game. I cannot imagine how anyone in their right minds who was behind the development of this game could ever consider for even a second that it was a good game they were making.

This game is NOTHING like Dragon Age Origins. Dragon Age II is even better than this! Yes, really! This game is completely hollow of life and devoid of any of the previous magic games of Bioware's past have. I spent money on this game, and severely regret my decision.

Not only is the game hollow, and dead feeling, but Bioware decided to cram as much social justice politically correct crap in it as possible. If you DO end up playing this game, you'll see exactly what I mean. The entire "romance" system of this game is like fan-fiction from a 14 year old's Tumblr blog. Seriously, its horrendous, completely artificial, forced, and makes you cringe. Maybe instead of Bioware trying to be 'edgy' with their romance design decisions they should have focused on putting real 'content' into the game.

That leads me to my next point, the lie of 'content' in this game. If you've looked up any promotional material for DA:I, then you have probably seen the claim of "over a hundred hours of content!!!!" thrown around. This is a flat out, bold-faced, bait and switch lie. The 'content' they are talking about is you, the "hero" and "savior" running around in grassy fields collecting flowers/plants/ore pieces/animal meat/etc. for hours on end in order to complete totally pointless side "quests" that are there EXCLUSIVELY for filler so they could put "100 hours of content!" on their advertisements. Do you know the term "The Ubisoft effect"? If you don't, it means this: "Lets throw as many stupid and useless/pointless icons on the map and call it side quests/content in order to be able to claim ridiculous fluffed up game length!"

The characters are also bad. Just flat, uninspired garbage. The voice actors may be the same for some of them from past games, but thats where the similarities end. When you talk to them you feel like they are there just because they "have to be because its a "Bioware game".

I am trying to save you money. That is what I am trying to do when writing this review. And no matter what the price for this game is, it is not worth it. I feel extremely saddened having to say all of this, because I LOVED Dragon Age Origins, and even liked Dragon Age 2 for what it had. I also used to love Bioware.

Bioware is gone, and that makes me very, very sad. They have joined the ditch around back of the EA building where Westwood has been laying dead for years, among a dozen other game studios. When Bioware sold out, the promised this wouldn't happen. Well everyone who promised that has since left Bioware, so what does that tell you? The name is just a shell now. A shell to slap on game covers in hopes that loyal fans of this previous great studio will purchase a game based off of nostalgic experiences.

Don't fall for the trap. EA did exactly what they also do. Buy up a studio, use the name to sell some games, bleed it dry, and let it die.

    Avoid at all costs.

The story is bland for any game and extremely disappointing for a Bioware Game. While there are some good ideas and even a few touching scenes, the whole story seems disjointed, without context and, worst of all, without significance. I forgot multiple times what exactly was happening or who that person was. You do not get a feeling of epicness like in Origins, or an emotional and personal impact like in Dragon Age 2. It is also short and not very deep. I thought I was about halfway through the main story when the journal told me that the next quest would be the final one.

The characters are, for the most part, well written, but the relationships do not feel nearly as deep as in both prequels. The romance arc I picked - with Blackwall - was disappointing, the romance was locked in after I flirted twice, and then he barely had anything to say to me, not even the way he would greet me changed, as if nothing had ever happened. Even the main character has no depth - we know almost nothing about the background of the Inquisitor, and he or she never quite develops a personality. Even the Warden managed to be more memorable, and achieved that without even having a voice actor. When Hawke makes a cameo and is instantly more likeable, you notice how bland the Inquisitor really is.

The feature that you, as the Inquisitor, have freedom over the world and can customize your own castle, is a good one - and does entertain for a while - but cannot replace the depth of story and character, and the lack of both is especially striking for a Bioware game. Plus, any sense of threat or urgency that the story sequences might create vanishes while you are grinding your ass off for the side quests and inquisition missions.

This leads us to the world. It is too big. The game wants to be Skyrim so bad that it's embarrassing, but doesn't manage to pull it off. You see, there are about 12 regions or so, and most of them are so gigantic that there are plenty of places where absolutely nothing happens. While they are beautiful for the most part, they are also empty and lifeless. Yes, you can loot tons of herbs and minerals and what not, and there are quite many - boring - side quests. But why do the regions look so alike? They are almost all either rocky and rainy, forest-y, or a desert. If you've seen one of the desert regions, you've seen all three of them. Why not use less maps, and instead focus on making them more interesting? We have ONE city, and it is ridiculously tiny - Val Royeaux, not even the size of the Skyhold? What? Instead, you get the same minor quests again and again. Explore map, conquer camps, claim landmarks, collect the **** out of everything. Make note, Bioware: THIS IS BORING. These minor tasks are overwhelming and while you can ignore them for the most part, they make you feel like you are not playing 'right' if you don't do them. Also, if you ignore them completely, there really is not much substance left to the game, since the story is over so quickly.

Finally, let's talk about the fighting. You now have to keep the mouse button pressed down to keep attacking, which is just about the most stupid design decision I've ever seen. The fights are more tactical than in DA 2 again, but much less than in Origins. Plus, the abilities are not all that great, many are quite useless, and there are no tooltips to help you know what they do in the heat of battle. You will forget many times what the spells in your attack list actually do, and randomly use them in fights to find out. I played on normal and it was indeed normal and occasionally challenging up to level 11 or so, then it got very easy, as in almost playing itself. My Inquisitor could let the others fight on their own and already run around to collect loot or start mining.

Finally, the technical aspects. I played with every setting on Ultra, and the game does indeed look quite good and runs fluently on a 1 year old PC. At least the landscapes, whereas characters, especially hair, look a bit chunky. I had 3 or so crashes, a few issues where I had to minimize and maximize the window because dialogue choices did not highlight correctly, and regular sound issues in cutscenes, as well as some clipping and graphical issues.

A summary: Bioware has focused on the wrong aspects in this one. I don't think anyone playing Dragon Age 2 thought to themselves: Man, this is good, but I want it to be more Skyrim. No, because while Skyrim is an entertaining game, what we want from a Bioware RPG is great story, great characters, depth and a sense of epicness. The constant running around in lifeless maps damages the overall atmosphere even more than the small, repeating dungeons of Dragon Age 2. I did have fun playing, but usually only for some time before it started being a drag again. This is the wrong direction for Dragon Age to head into.

Cutscenes play capped at 30 FPS, despite the fact my computer can easily play it in 60 FPS or more.

The story does not feel like it's Dragon Age. My hard work and dedication in the previous games can all come down to a story I can generate in a matter of seconds, making it feel like you wasted time. (Opt instead once you beat the game to allow you to make the story maybe?)

The game is FULL of glitches. Absolutely full of glitches. Characters I found to be not nearly as compelling and interesting as previous Dragon Age titles.

The story feels INCONSISTENT with previous tiles! These issues we see seem completely made up just for this game.

This game would've better been released as an Open World, No Pressure on Story Guys Take Your Time. There is NO urgency because there are these random things you have to do that are not really interesting or important to saving the world!

This feels like an attempted MMO that fell through a hole in the ground and got made into DA I instead! We have no real direction of story, instead you just do your own thing and make the entire world wait.

Console gamers do not experience the FPS problems because FPS was capped for worst computers. This CAP needs to be lifted! Having a nicer computer does not give rights to be punished!

I am very heartbroken about this title. I wasted over three hours just fighting with glitches alone upon release, and still fight with glitches when I try to play it today.

The story's framework is given quickly, but then you are spun around and pointed out into expanse with only your sense of adventure to guide you. The designers were smart enough to give you anchor points you can always return to, and must for aspects of the game, but otherwise your darkened map is only filled in by where you decide to go. The main line of quests would be a healthy game in themselves but its the cornucopia of discoveries you make while merely getting your bearings in Dragon Age: Inquisition, that lead to dozens, and possibly more than a hundred hours, of side quests, treasure hunts, and random encounters.

If you liked the previous Dragon Age games (or at least the first in the series), you will enjoy "Inquisition". Its bigger, bolder, and technically superior while still telling a compelling narrative. It has memorable characters, both friend and foe, while offering the highest quality of combat in a DA game, yet, and providing a plethora of loot, crafting, and relationship systems to dig in to as deep or shallow as you like.

DA:I is not a 6 hour linear shooter and the lack of an obvious path may leave those not familiar with this type of game, feeling rudderless. I urge you to fight past the first few hours of loose footing. There is a method to the madness and it can become immersive once you build a connection to the world.

DA:I is open world fantasy at its finest. Explore how you like, craft combat in real time or strategically, and romance a strange looking creature or a cheeky dwarf..... its all about choosing what you want to do.

I hope that includes giving Dragon Age:Inquisition a chance to suck you in, if it does, its one of the most rewarding fantasy gaming experiences out there.

I bought this via Origin and thankfully could return it thanks to their GG guarantee, so I didn't loose any money at least.

To begin with, the graphics and sound are awesome, Quite fantastic really, with light effects and everything. That makes this a very beautiful game, and the graphics alone gives the game a few points. No doubt about that.

    However, the flaws are everywhere:

Character creation: This was a fun exercise, but I didn't get to know 'me' well enough as I did in the first two games. There is little to no no character development, and for all it's flaws, DA 2 at least had the feature you could turn your Hawke into a real personality. Here, not so much.

Another flaw is that you start with a whole bunch of NPCs, whereas in most games you need to meet, greet and get to know them first, one at the time. It felt rushed - 'ok, here's your team, now go out and save the world!' WTF? An RPG is meant to be played out slowly - get to know the world, the people around you, the controls... And speaking of which:

The controls are simply atrocious for PC. I have played my fair share of bad ports, but this was one of the worst offenders. Camera control, combat, everything is botched. For me, that is a major turnoff (and it was the main reason to why I returned the game) when I can't configure the controls to work in a logical, free-flowing manner.

To get back to the core of the game... It sucks. I was thrown into the game with little explanation of who I was, what I was doing, where and why. I didn't stay long enough to see if that hand thingy I had would be explained, but I thought that I would at least get a hint to why I had it? Why not him or her?

Also, there is so much handholding it gets overbearing - there are markers everywhere, and for a game where you should concentrate on squashing a mage rebellion, you spend an awful lot of time picking flowers and junk.

Finally, I think I should say something about imports, and that was a real disappointment: You can't import a sav from DA 2. No, you can't. You could do it fine in DA 2, but not here. Instead, you had to go to a webpage, fill in whatever you remember about what happened in BOTH the earlier games in a kind of tapestry (which admittedly looked quite fine), but to not be able to actually import a game is... Just infuriating. I remember The Witcher 2 had a flaw with that in that even if you could import a save, the game shat over that and put it's own spin on it. But at least you COULD import a save! This took away a major part of the immersion of the game world from me, because I knew I would never see my Warden-Commander or Hawke in the flesh, simply because I couldn't define how they looked. It detached DA:I from the rest of the Dragon Age universe and the game triology, and that is a such a shame.

Also, I understand the story is pretty much an Oblivion ripoff (I didn't experience the game enough to see the connection, mind you) And that just makes me... mad. They had a perfect setup for a final showdown in a third game, and they blew it.

Bioware have done a lot of really good games in the past. Unfortunately, that is in the past. They don't any longer. And if you don't believe me on that, remember their inclusion of the AWESOME button in Dragon Age 2. That should make it abundantly clear that Bioware is well past their prime.

After 2-3 hours of gameplay, the story literally comes to a dead pause, forcing you to do them fetchquests before you have earned enough (game-currency (Might/Influence) to unlock the next story mission. That is beyond dumb. The combat system that i liked in DA:O is completly gone (yes, completly). It´s 100% buttonmashing, and i rarely have any idea if what i´m doing on the battlefield ist right or wrong. I can´t tell you how disappointed i am, seeing a beloved franchise go down the drain.
After apprx. 15 hours of gameplay, i´ve deinstalled DA:I and never had any itch to play it again.
Now if only anyone would take the core mechanics of DA:O, update the visuals to a 2014-2015 style and wrap this around a story from the old bioware days, that´ll be something i could easily spend hundreds of hours with ...

Like Skyrim, this game just puts me to sleep. This really shouldn't be called Dragon Age, it's nothing like the two previous title as far as gameplay goes and the story gets lost in the extremely boring crap and poor immersive world execution attempt. The controls are useless, the combat is inane, the side quests are mind-numbing. I was hoping that after DA2 and ME3, Bioware would look to return more to the original DA:O , but they sadly chose to try to be an MMO pretending to be an RPG and failed. If you like the previous DA titles, it is unlikely you'll enjoy crap of want to be great game. Bioware/EA had some great ideas, but it's almost like they went "Skyrim sold a lot let's make DA:I more like it to sell more, while completely ignoring our loyal gamer base." I'm done with Bioware, I feel like they pulled a bait and switch. DA:O was such a great game, with a huge amount of replayability. This game, I can't even make it through a single playthrough. It is one of the worst RPGs I have ever played.

What could of been a cool thing was ruined by a huge dick move by Bio-giant-douche-ware. You inexplicably CANNOT SAVE anywhere in this area, I put faith in the developer to know what the **** they were doing and trudged forward. I spotted out 4 shards, of which 2 are a bit of a pain in crappy "jump" type puzzles (your character warps and slides around like crazy) and after some pains finally picked them up. I explored around the decent sized area and gathered quite a plenty of things like royal and regular elfroot, obsidian ore, and other varied loots as well. While exploring and looting this area I probably killed 12+ roaming mini-big-creatures (no spoilies). I also killed a red lyrium vein. This took quite a bit of time, but like I said I assumed the developers of the game weren't an incompetent bunch of jackasses and since I couldn't save went into the further up area to do battle with the big creature who was waiting, but ended up losing (had used way too many potions much earlier and was under-leveled a bit too much). The automatic save of the game, instead of showing a single solitary modicum of a shred of competence and just putting me back right before this last fight, instead put me back at the start of ALL OF THIS LOSING ALL OF MY PROGRESS, and I was powerless to do anything SINCE THE ****ING SAVE IS ****ING DISABLED THE WHOLE ****ING TIME in this area.

The reason why I am so pissed isn't even for the most part THAT I lost all this time, but WHY. I just don't understand why, why I basically had to lose this time because some **** for no discernible reason other then to be a giant stupid dick made it so you count as being in battle the whole time, even when you are not and thus can't save. I even tried to save before going into the big battle with the creature, but no saving allowed. Why, why go out of your way to disable saving during this whole point, why go out of your way to disable saving LOOONG before a big and serious battle? When there are plenty of others things that you can do in the area before you even get to this part of the area. I just don't get it. It is absolutely ****ing retarded.

Maybe find more ways to make the game fun and engaging rather then finding ways to waste players time, that would be a start at bioware reclaiming their former glory. Just an idea. Screw you bioware.

I read someplace that when they designed this game they wanted something that could be done in 20 hours or 200 hours. Well they succeeded. By having insane levels of filler take the place of meaningful quests and character arcs. I have no intention of doing them all. The loading screens take a long time, for no clear reason. On PC the controls feel line a console port. Using their combat tactics is a difficult and tedious affair. Best part of DA:O and they broke it. But that's OK. Most of the time you don't need it. So far the most annoying thing for me though is enemy difficulty. Some enemies don't scale levels with you so if you're a few levels up on them, they drop like flies, or if they are levels up on you, your choice is run or die. The result is lots of quests/areas have "level recommendations," which if you choose to ignore, the game becomes too easy or too hard and no fun really quick.
Overall it's not a bad game. But its nowhere near as good as it could be. And it wouldn't even need big changes to become a great game. But why bother? All the praise, GOTY etc. was heaped on it already anyway. Whether it deserved it or not.

Graphics: Amazing and beautiful world we have here. The details are incredible! The landscape is stunning and the attacks are flashy. No complaints here.

Character Customization: Unless you're amazingly artistic, and spend about two hours here, you characters can be passable at best. The awkward green lighting during this process throws off alot of things. I had no idea my character's lips were that shiny until I hit the ingame cutscene. Lack of hair was also sad. Wait for future mods to improve on this

Companions: Only near the end of the game do you even care about them. Whereas DA:2 make you baby sit your companions and do like 50 quests for them, here, we have like one personal quest or maybe 2. And the interaction conversations are short, and lacking in substance. Which is quite sad because the chars have a very solid personality, it's just not executed well by the way your inquisitor interacts with them. It can be SO much better, like in DA;O. Btw, besides Lelianna (the person working on her spent all his time on her face than everyone else), Vivinne, Cullen, Varric, Dorian and maybe Solas, everyone looks terrible, especially NPC. Yea, even Celene looked bad. Or at least average.

Gameplay: THIS THING SUCKS FOR PC. WHAT THE HELL WHERE THEY THINKING? DID NO ONE TEST THIS ON PC?! Forget using the tactical mode, you'll want to break your screen. And the frickng tactics system was horrible. I was utterly appalled. DA:O and DA:2 had a very deep and good tactics system. They didn't even try for this one! You literally have like 4 commands, two of which is drink pots and move. As for skill usage, you can only set to using it alot, moderately or disable it. WTF?!

They removed healing, which is completely stupid. Now you have to backtrack constantly to stock up on pots. Barriers just doesn't cut it. When you're playing on hard or higher difficulty, you'll want to pull your hair out. Your companions are stupid and need to be micromanaged every second because tactics sucks, you'll run out of pots constantly and overall it's a huge step down from DA:2 battles or DA:O tactical battles. It's like Bioware tried to combine both and made the world's ugliest baby.

Btw you can't arrange skills. It's automatic, even if you don't like it.

World: I said the world was beautiful and all but it's INSANELY BIG. There was no need for it to be this bi, especially if there's nothing interesting happening. Thank god you can teleport when you find campsites. Finding people and places are a chore. Sometimes there's up a level or down a level and you're circling around the glowing spot on the map like an idiot.

Story: Uhhhhh.... so after running around, killing things for hours, we get a very anti-climatic boss fight at the end. The mage rebellion and grey warden parts of the story was perfect, so that saved the story. But after that, nothing much happens really. Anything that did happen, was cliche and unmoving or boring. It felt like padding and it was disappointing. Your inquisitor seemed pretty mellow about the whole thing to be honest. Like they tried to be inspiring and be a hero but it sorta felt flat. Or they were just an **** and didn't really care. The humor type was amusing at times though.

From the series, in terms of world and story, DA:O is superior. In terms of gameplay, DA:2 is the best (I'm slightly biased here) and DA:O... just has the best graphics. I got so tired of the game I didn't bother finishing an entire area of quests.

Graphically it's OK, but that's the only improvement on DA:O, which was an RPG masterpiece. In Inquisition, everything they try to pull off stumbles. The storyline is cliched, with characters you don't care about. The combat system, while not dreadful, is very much mediocre, and not helped by the myriad of on the fly bugs that you can't avoid. Frame rate is a consistent issue, often dropping below 20fps on a good machine.

But the biggest problem? The game has been made by the numbers, trying to emulate what made DA:O great but failing to understand the reason those aspects knitted together so well in the first game.

The series is mimicking the failure of the Fable franchise at this point. Whilst DA:I is certainly a better game than Fable 3 was, you can't help harking back to the original game and wishing some progression rather than regression had been made in the franchise.

So, a disappointment. To be objective and pretend I'd never played DA:O, then I'd say this game is OK, very average, but playable. So it objectively gets a 6 from me. But subjectively, I pretty much hate the game, and all it has done has made me reinstall Origins to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

Overall I was looking for a game that found a middle-ground between Dragon age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, with a little something extra to spice things up. Well, the game is not bad for an RPG and not horrible for a Dragon Age. That being said there's much less to it, than you expect after first few hours.

First of all, the game's world and graphics. Nothing to be mad about, game is really pretty and I loved the detailed characters, though cutscenes are uglier and seem to lag for no apparent reason, even though game runs perfecly smooth otherwise. The areas in game are MUCH more vast than in the previous installments, though on the other hand they're not exactly filled with many points of interest for exploration. Even the hidden dungeons feel somewhat bland. That being said they're very pretty and well designed and I mean both terrain, buildings and vegetation.

Sound is definitely fine, voice acting also solid enough to be convincing.

Gameplay-wise, it plays kind of like DAII mixed with something else. Fights are fast paced, but often repetitive and just based on slinging everything you've got at the enemy until it dies (then again, it's nothing exceptional for an RPG), overally interesting enough, but with not too many different kinds of enemies that would offer a varying experience.
Boss or sub-boss fights are mostly boring and plagued with game's HORRIBLE leveling system. I tend to to every sidequest possible and it turns out THERE'S ACTUALLY A PROPER ORDER IN WHICH YOU HAVE TO DO THEM. If you don't you will end up like me being level 23 and killing level 15 enemies with one spell in some forsaken location. Or the opposite, level 17 team against 23 dragon, which will. fu*k. you. up. Unless you're running Vivienne which is basically playing the game in godmode.

Oh and dragon fights are as un-epic as possible. Sure, they have cool sounds and animations, but killing them beyond the first one just doesn't feel like an accomplishment at all (and there's no execution animation). To top it off, while the game's crafting system is pretty neatly done, there's not really much you can use your hard earned materials for. You can never find all the schematics you want, since the drop is random, even if you do find something good, you can never be sure if there isn't something better waiting for you. It's just tempting and exciting on paper, but ultimately unsatisfying in practice.

Skill trees are fine, though more spells (and more 'interesting' spells) certainly couldn't hurt the devs. Same goes for classes. There just isn't anything that made me say "daaamn I can't wait until I level up my necromancer, so I can get that cool thing and feel powerful". And don't get me started on necro class being weak, same goes for every other kind.

As for items I got the feeling that there wasn't enough uniquety among them. Slapping purple color on the name and giving it increased stats doesn't make it incredible in my eyes. Then again I liked how various armors fit different races, also the ability to tailor parts of them to my visual needs.

As for the plot, it's okay. Interesting enough to keep you going, though it sometimes feels like you're getting timeskips. Things just happen too... easily. "Yay, let's join the Inquisitor everyone!" kind of thing. But it isn't bad and the companions feel intriguing (as do most NPC's). It is a tad short and if you've been spending hours on sidequests, there's literally nothing left to do after the main storyline ends.

Overall, a solid 6, maybe some more. The game is worth buying after some price reductions and I would recommend it, despite of the obvious flaws. It was fun, just not amazing (as expected from BioWare).

As for Dragon Age Origins being superior that's utter rubbish. My first play through the game on the hardest mode was an utter joke. They game had little if any difficulty and I just plowed through everything. The story was good but it had areas that I could have done without.

Now by no means is this game even in the same category as say The Witcher series but it's not a total waste of time. I think what most of these butt hurt reviewers wanted was a DA story Divinty game play. You just aren't going to get that from big producers anymore because the number of units they will sell of it won't be enough.

After an opportunity to snag the game at a good price arose I snatched it up first chance I got. To begin with, the character customization is decent, some races have limiting factors such as the elves must have tattoos and you cannot change the body shapes also there is not much diversity in the skins and they don’t seem to be in order as young to old skins so that made it quite confusing as well. The graphics are amazing right off the start, the story was compelling and kept me interested as it taught you to explore the controls. I’m more of a casual gamer so I didn’t delve much into the tactical camera, if at all, and the camera was a bit difficult to get around with at first but I managed to become used to it after a while.

It followed your basic RPG template with main missions and side missions. At times I found the side missions repetitive as most where to grind either money or experience, but the main story quests where extremely fun and I looked forward to those the most. The companions where varied and each offered different abilities that you could pick and choose to best suit your team. Some lacked compelling storylines and others where a bit cringe worthy in their actions, but somehow it added to their personalities, or lack of. The crafting and upgrade system was a bit awkward but the amount of other content the game included made up for those flaws. Things like the war table missions, judgment and the sky hold customization added to the tons of content this game has to offer. Overall I really enjoyed playing this game despite its imperfections and look forward to whatever else this franchise will bring in the future.

The story is decent and engrossing and the conversations with characters felt realistic... for the most part (some of the characters were a bit bland compared to other people). The combat was very similar to Dragon Age 2 and if you liked that, then you'll be fine with this. I used an XBOX 360 controller on my PC and it felt great, until I learned too many spells and could no longer map them all on my controller. But hey, you're expected to make choices in this game, and your rotation is one of them.

And with those choices, you get to choose your race again which was a welcome treat and although each race has the exact same vague opening, the game does a fantastic job with integrating your race and class. For example, I played as a mage my first time through and the game constantly reminded me or made things different because I was a mage in this mage vs. Templar world. It does the same thing if you are an Elf, Dwarf, or Qunari. In DA:2, you were always a human which was fine and all, but I missed this extra customizing feature that Inquisition and Origins really nailed.

So overall, I think anyone will love this game, but there are a lot of little things that add up that lowered my score from a 10 down to a 7. This game suffers the modern gaming problem of being released too early. Rather than delay the game and fix all the bugs and glitches, they pushed out what is very much an incomplete game. Mind you, most of these can be fixed if BioWare/EA gets around to patching them. Things such as a shoulder floating on female human mage characters or companions not holding position when you tell them too just bog down the experience.

Speaking of experience, for whatever reason BioWare chose to completely hack away their tactics page that you would use to give your companions auto-commands. This means that you have to constantly pause the game with the wheel (which also bugs out at times) in order to individually give commands to your companions. This ruins the experience of the game's story by completely stopping the action and making us babysit our party so that we don't die from some enemy encounter. In an effort to appeal to the most casual of casual gamers, they replaced tactics with a simple check, X, or star system that you would use to tell a companion how often to use their abilities. Gone are the commands to tell them to use AOEs on groups of enemies 3 or more or to use a heal on an injured ally at 30% health. Not that you could if you wanted to, BioWare chose to kick heals to the curb as well in favor of a barrier system that borderlines insanity. We already had barriers in the previous games so what BioWare really did was just eliminated heals and made barriers worse. In order to apply barriers you have to aim an AOE circle and pray your companions stay locally for you to barrier everyone up. Not that it matters much as the barrier itself rapidly degenerates over time and the cool down for the ability shows you no mercy in reapplying it.

So in the beginning the game get's in it's own way. Once you have the plethora of passives, your cool downs become much more manageable and the combat becomes the joy that it once was. Even with tactics being a shell of its former self. You just have to get through that beginning stuff.

Adding to getting in it's own way, there is such a thing as too many quests. I didn't think it was possible, but there just are too many. This would be fine if every quest gave you more depth and conversation options, but most of the time it's very WoW like with you finding some note directing you to find a person who
happens to be dead now. And then that's it. Quest over, here's some xp, 50 gold, and a weapon that is vaguely useful. I get that this game was slated to be an MMO, but that just makes me wish they had delayed it to try and fine tune a lot of the drab and mundane quests that clog up a lot of your map and time.

The other issue I had was that BioWare still can't figure out what to do with a character's arms. In normal conversations people are able to interact with things or make gestures, or if need be, just put their arms down or cross them. Whatever to make it natural. But BioWare makes the arms look rigged and awkward. They can't seem to point straight and they have this jerky kind of movement whenever they try to look natural.

I'm nit picking here because the game did do the main thing quite splendidly, it was just a lot of the little things that made me groan. And a lot of things that made me scratch my head as to why BioWare did it this way when it worked perfectly well in the other installments. At the end of the day, this is a great game that in a vacuum, would be higher rated, but because it was a sequel and those sequels did a lot of things better, this game just misses the elite review that it could have.

I got bored before I explored 30% of map. Especially the one in the desert filled with dwarven tombs. Quests are boring, straight forward mmo-like. "go there, kill that, bering this". Val Roayux is ONE STUPID TINY LITTLE SQUARE! Denerim in DA:O was like 10 times more at very least. Huge fail. All in all DA:I is mildly enjoyble RPG that entertains well enough but tries to hard and brings little new that is original or fun.

And here is the funny part they failed at both and why this game is poorly ranked DO2 was a bad game for me but DO inquistion is a bad game for all.
Still you can probably stand it if you like DO2 its not that bad as a first person game but if you want to pause and use tactical mode its like pulling teeth.
Fighting through a RPG like DO inq takes a lot of time if you cant stand the fighting it would be better to watch someone play trough it on youtube.
If something isn't broken don't fix it all they needed to do was remake DO and everyone and their grandma would have thrown money at them but they want the console gamers also and in trying to please everyone they end up making a frankenstein that nobody can love.
The tactical fight mode makes me want to cry you just cant see anything such a silly basic error that you viewpoint is to low down to be able to see anything even at the highest option open for you, i assume they wanted it to look better or someting but it makes it a nightmare to play.
Only played the game a couple of hours before my nostalgia for DO couldnt overcome my distaste for the game

Also the AI is TERRIBLE, it's poorly optimized for PC, and just comes off as a horrible port. Most of the companions are boring or obnoxious and the female romance options are horrible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really, really wanted to love this game. I pre-ordered, waited with bated breath for it to be finally playable, and my word, what a let down. I'll skip over the mechanics, I can live with that (clearly not a PC game made for PC players, but anyway). What I found most unforgivable was the boring, boring story. I can't stress how boring the storyline was. I'd go days without playing as there was nothing that hooked me and made me want to spend hours carefully following the plot. If I can cope with driving the bloody Mako around uncharted worlds and still love Mass Effect, why couldn't they have put a bit more into making this game actually enjoyable? This game has no redeeming features. The characters are unmemorable (apart from maybe The Tevinter bloke, who's name I've forgotten), unsympathetic (Iron Bull, a fan favourite? Really??), and downright annoying (hugely unattractive elf bird who was the lesbian romance choice - cheers for that). Coryphyface was so underwhelming as a boss, I defeated him in about two minutes flat, so overpowered was my character by the time I faced him. And that's due to all the grind I put in, as I always play side quests first in any RPG. I didn't realise there was really no need to find all the shards/mosaic pieces (not that you can)/astrariums and I really tried to. I'm never, ever going to pre-order a game from Bioware again, I'm going to wait to see what the actual fans say (you know, the honest people who play the game, and not one negative score from the critics?? PC Gamer has lost all credibility in my opinion) in their reviews, then probably not buy it, because let's face it, Bioware is dead. Long live Obsidian.

By the way, I've never bothered to review a game before, this is my first. I'm so gutted I had to do it. After hearing about what's happening with ME4, I very much mourn Bioware, I genuinely loved their previous games...

Garbage game. Boring story, boring characters, and about as many enemies as you can count on her hand. I'm not picking up any more dragon age games, because surprisingly, this one was even worse than the 2nd. How a game like this wins any awards is beyond me. A testimony to deteriorating expectations, i guess.

I had high expectations for this game and in many ways it is very well crafted game. Unfortunately, you will feel lost in the content of the game and the game will never suck you in, like Mass Effect games does for example. Still, it is a good game and but getting back to it feels like a chore.

Its Over rated and average at best. Its not fantastic but its not bad. The combat feels like its been done in one way or the other, but doesnt really feel fluid, to me. I like that I can take control of various characters, but I really don't feel like doing that, in an rpg. Luckily you dont necessarily have to, early on at least.

Overall, the storyline is average. I am sorry but I cannot get behind the lackluster character design and the concept. Its not bad but it feels too much like rift in terms of concept. Overall, its very generic with some random storyline slapped on top. If you like game of thrones, you might like this a slight bit more than I do, as they try to mimic the story telling for each character... Just doesn't do it for me.

After well over 100 hours of game play, and extensive experience in other EA franchises, I can say this game isn't terrible. I sunk 100+ hours into it, so it can't be too bad. I liked the change of pace after DA 2's awkward cameras and comic booky artwork.

What it isn't is original. When I was introduced to the map room and castle systems, something felt familiar. Add on that the companions had loyalty/love components, there is resource gathering that is completely pointless... Holy crap! It's Mass Effect! It's exactly like Mass Effect! Dragon Effect. I never felt that way about the other two games. Ever. But this one made me feel like they just took Mass Effect's core elements and tacked them onto a medieval skin. So congratulations EA--now you're Ubisoft to me. And that's not good.

Is it better than DA:2? Well, I did finish this one, hoping it would get better( hence, a 3, instead of a 0), and I couldn't take DA:2 at all. Never finished that one.

I feel like my 1st grade son is trying to tell me a story:
There's this bad guy(who I actually was rooting for... that's how lame the inquisition's cause is) who wants to take over everything. Then you walk a bit. Then you are confused a bit. Then you walk a bit more. Then you ride a dumb horse. Then walk a bit. Then you collect some stuff. Then 120 hours later, you can play the whole(actual story line) in less than 15 hours.

The only character I liked was Sera. "You go first, I'll avenge you." Best line I've heard in a loooooong time playing games.

Morrigan is so tired she's still wearing the threads she had on 6 years ago!
Cullen could have been a interesting character with his cold turkey addiction thing.
Varric would have been interesting if he had "actual" stories to tell.
Cassandra couldn't fight out a wet paper bag.
Dorian was ok- Would have been awesome if he broke out into a musical number.
Dagna had some good one liners. Pinkquistion?

This is the first Bioware RPG, after I had met the characters, I didn't actively want to pursue a "relationship" with any of them. I was really torn in Origins between lelianna and Morrigan... Interesting people(in that game) who were actually different.

Save yourself the agony of a giant let down of an ending, go binge watch the entire series of X-Files or something.

NEVER GOING TO REPLAY THIS WASTE OF TIME EVER AGAIN. Bioware is really pissing on the goodwill it built with their great games with garbage like this.

The worst Bioware game ever. Will never buy another Bioware game without first trying either pirate, demo or friends version.
    Cons:
    1) Horrible controls and camera in both tactical and action modes 2) Weak story. Played as mage and the whole prologue was absurd. 3) Bugs on nVidia notebook cards 4) Bad level lock system for items 5) Even less mage skills that in DA2 6) Terrible Origin

    8) Side quests are to simple and flat
    Pro:
    1) Crafting mechanism. Ability to combine different materials.
    2) Idea of War Counsel.

Reached level 10, cleared first area and deleted. It's simply unplayable.

Let me start by saying this review is coming from a hardcore gamer. I've played DA:O and DA2.. completed both games, along with many other RPG, ARPG, MMO, you name it. I play on PC, I laugh at the idea of ever playing on a console again unless its an NHL or Mortal Kombat game, and have a rig and a battlestation of a life long PC gamer.
Now that this is out of the way, the game.

I preordered this game. After watching youtube videos of the PC version,I thought to myself, "Bioware are really gonna blow the doors off with this game being that its been so long since DA2 was released".

Well, the game is really a middle of the road game. Its okay. Its not terrible, its not amazing, its not really bad, and its not really great. Its average.
As I mentioned, I preordered this game, and played it for a couple weeks after it released. After that, I have not loaded it up since. Not once. That right there should say a lot coming from someone like myself who plays games and can spend hours playing a game that they like. Not once, and not only that, I can't even see myself every loading it up again.

On PC, this game was neglected for sure.. I can totally see how its been made for consoles, and honestly, as much as I have a problem with this, I still think that I could play the game happily despite of it. What grinds me though is that they (bioware/EA) blatently stated that the PC version was designed specifically for the PC gamer.

What a load of complete bull$hit. Nothing but crap to get pc gamers to open their wallets and spend $60 for a game that truly is not worth it.

The Environments and graphics are top notch. This to me is one of the only things that this game did really and truly great. The engine really works great and although the performance is not as optimized as it could be, the game really looks beautiful. Full marks to them on this part.
Animations too are done well. not incredible, but definitely good.

Some of the banter between characters and the members of your team that you meet are also humorous and keeps it light. This to me is what Dragon Age is really all about. Commanding your squad, exploring together and playing off of each member's skills to complete objectives and grow in power, influence and skill.

Once you get past the above, the grim reality of this game really punches you in the face, hard.
If you are someone who played the previous versions, its tough to gauge at first why you don't care about Inquisition the way you did for Origins and DA2.. but then over time you realize why.

Its because the game really has no soul. It may have the looks, but like finding a partner to get married to and spend your life with, looks are only a fraction of the larger, more important whole. It lacks that feeling that inspires you to explore and play more.. fight more.. proceed further into the story.

The combat is simply not fun. I don't WANT to get into another fight, because fights are tedious and repetitive. AI is stupid, so you're constantly having to worry about your squad doing dumb **** instead of what you're doing. Times that by 3 and its a mess.
Tactical Camera - I don't even know wtf they were thinking honestly. Does anyone use it? I think it would actually be better if they removed it entirely, because its almost added into the game forcefully as it doesn't really gel with the way the game plays otherwise, which is much more like skyrim than dragon age.

Add to that the fact that the skill tree and tactical menu are either noobed down immensely or removed entirely. Tactics menu? Gone. Widdled down to almost nothing. I can only imagine that featuring this was "not cost effective" and would only serve to "alienate more casual players", so they just removed it. Yes, I'm assuming this is why, but I also don't think my assumption is very far off. Skill tree? Totally uninspiring.

Then you have the big expansive world that they've provided. Only problem is that once they created the game world, they had an "oh $hit" moment when they realized that now they had to fill it with content. Oops!
Well, lets just fill it will meaningless fetch quests to gather xyz for the sole purpose of? That's right, there is no purpose. If I wanted to play an MMO, I would. What I wanted was a true successor to Dragon Age.. this game is not that.

I haven't even gotten into the story, which as cliched as it is, still shows moments of potential.. but sadly, its not long enough, nor is it immersive enough to save the rest of the game from itself.

Truly saddening this game is to me. I want to like it, but I don't want to play it. It tortures me, and yet I'd rather choose to not even think about it and just play something that actually provides enjoyment.
I gave the game 4/10 because I know that there are talented designers that have worked on it, and they deserve credit for making it look nice.
Unfortunately, this does not make a game great. :(

Despite numerous shortcomings, the new BioWare project is undoubtedly worth your attention. One of the best RPGs of 2014.
