Dragon Age 1 was phenomenal. Dragon Age 2 was like playing a novel.

Dragon Age 3, Bioware called out Bethesda in the next-gen gaming world. Seriously. Fans wanted exploration, a lot of characters, and an interesting battle system plus multiplayer. Bioware delivered on all fronts.

It's like the whole game is saying "Your move, Bethesda."

But damm, where is the glory of the old titles, where is the smooth GAMEPLAY ?
Its like the engine is there, without any steer to drive it smootly.
    My last title from EA.

I've read as many negative user reviews as I could stomach and thus far haven't found a single one that wasn't majorly flawed. People are really grasping hard to justify their EA hate on this one. The fact of the matter is, DAI on PC is not a perfect game and has some unfortunately memorable bugs and issues. However, it is still objectively speaking one of the most expansive and ambitious RPGs created in the last decade (maybe more). Personally speaking, it was an extremely enjoyable but not perfect experience.

You all have likely heard about the best parts of DAI over and over by now. The lush landscapes, the wonderful world fleshed out by a who cadre of minor and major characters with superb voice acting, and the by now world-famous storytelling that Bioware has become renowned for, the list goes on and on. What you should also know is a few key features that definitely marr the game a little:

-the character builder is incredibly deep in facial building, but falls completely flat in hairstyles. Look at 20 male characters and I guarantee at least half will be sporting the shaved-sides look because it's one of the only hairstyles that doesn't look awful. And yet there are at least six or seven different kinds of bald head. It's absolutely baffling how this aspect of the character creator could have been so overlooked.

-the decision to make a number of conversations non-cutscene doesn't really make sense to me. Perhaps if we were better able to control the camera angle during these scenes, but the majority are too zoomed out, the audio will shift depending on your distance from the speaker, and overall they just feel much more underwhelming.

-the tactical camera, as I'm sure you've heard but is worth mentioning again, is godawful on the PC. The controls for that were clearly designed for consoles. It must be very frustrating for people playing this on Nightmare since they're going to be spending a lot of time in that mode during combat.

-the mothereffin' Hinterlands. Bioware did a wonderful job in crafting a huge, open starting area *full* of things to do but it became very clear on launch day that way too many people were spending too much time in that area and getting bored because they weren't progressing with the story. The thing is, the way that you progress in story missions is that you build Power as a currency to "pay" for the important missions (for instance, the first story mission after the intro costs 8 power to initiate) and you get Power by doing all sorts of things in the open world, but that isn't so readily explained to you. Tutorializing really could go a long way toward making the earlier hours more streamlined. It was so necessary that even Bioware's Facebook page felt it necessary to release a post basically saying "LEAVE THE HINTERLANDS!"

But for all the faults, all the bugs, this is still one of my favorite RPGs in memory. Games like Skyrim, the Witcher 2, Mass Effect etc all have their place but the depth of the storytelling, open world, crafting, and exploration that is Dragon Age Inquisition sets it apart. I find people hating on this game for the stupidest of reasons, the worst I've seen probably being the fact that you can hook up with a Qunari companion. It was nicknamed "Riding the Bull" and garnered such masterpieces as "what a surprise, a game made by SJWs is complete garbage". I can't even begin to comprehend how narrow-minded someone has to be to think that any non-traditional romance roles are basically SJWs pandering to pan-sexual lobbying of some sort. Don't buy into the crap people are spewing at it. I'm only reviewing this game this late because I've already sunk almost a hundred hours into it. Those who love the game aren't the ones here bashing it two days after release.

After 5 hour of playing, I finally gave up and dropped it. It feels like a big theme park MMORPG. Even Bioware admitted this game was originally meant as an MMORPG, then they changed their mind and developed it a single player game. But for what I have seen, this game can be called a single player only because you are alone in the game, but it keeps definitely a MMORPG structure.

I've never made a review on here, but made one just for this game because i feel lied to by Bioware.

First off, the game isn't actually bad. What is bad is the lack of effort to port this over to PC. Yes, ported it over, it takes 2 seconds to see how this game was made with only console in mind when you play it. All you have to do is look at Character creation right from the start.

First off, the game isn't actually bad. What is bad is the lack of effort to port this over to PC. Yes, ported it over, it takes 2 seconds to see how this game was made with only console in mind when you play it.

All you have to do is look at Character creation right from the start. It doesn't really support mouse, if you try to go more than one up or down, you will see that this isn't allowed. If you try to mouse click in a bar for choice you want, it will only take you one over, not to that spot. Why? Because that's how it works on console. This is a common theme.

Once you actually get in the game.. the control setup. This is the first game in as long as I can remember that makes my hands hurt playing it. The control are all over the place and if you use the mouse wheel to zoom out, you get up going into the tactical camera and pausing the game. I'm not sure whose bright idea this was, but they shouldn't be working at Bioware.

Mouse 1, the key normally used for select in any PC RPG and the past Bioware games.. does an attack no matter if there are enemies near or not. No matter where you are, if you hit mouse 1, it does an attack, and your movement speed is slowed down to a crawl for the next 5 seconds until it resets. This might seem like nothing, but it's annoying as hell.

It's like no one at Bioware played a RPG on PC, which makes no sense since they've made some of the best ones. Some advice here, when it comes to actual combat, it's so much easier just to use tab to select things than use the mouse, I'm not even sure why they made it like that for PC, but they did.

But I think the most annoying thing though is looting.

It's an RPG, so you end up having to loot everything, but in this game.. you need to be standing within about 1-2 feet of what you loot or it won't work. If you click something from a distance, your character will not run over there to pick it up. Why would I expect something simple like that? Because the last Dragon Age games HAD IT. It's like they went out of the way to make sure this game was horrible on PC.

Also, say you need to unlock a door and you are not a rogue. In the old games, you could click on the door, a rogue would say "let me get that for you" and run over and pick the lock. If you are expecting that in this game, sorry, but Bioware didn't care enough to put that in.

This doesn't even cover the frame rate issues, the camera.. (I won't even start about this, but needless to say it makes looting one of the worst experiences ever and combat is a pain at times till you adjust to it. Looting... you never really adjust.)

The Menu setup being designed for console. If you want an example, the best one that comes to mind is how you quit the game. Want to quit? You need to hit ESC, then quit to MENU, then wait for the menu to load up, then go down to Quit Game. There is no option to exit to windows. Why? Consoles don't run on windows or have options to quit like that. Doesn't seem like a lot, but try doing this every single time you want to leave the game, it gets old fast.

I think most of the people who reviewed this game were too lazy to try it out on every platform and only played it on console. No one who played it on windows with all the bugs it has could rate it that high unless they were being paid to. If you are thinking about getting this game, get it on console. If you want to play it on windows, make sure you have a controller.

Also, the DLC for the Deluxe edition..pretty useless. You can't use it right away and when you can, crafted stuff in the game is much better, save yourself the $10 and just get the normal edition.

And yes, I know Bioware went on and on about how this game would be designed with PC in mind, but they lied. As far as they reviews of the PC version posted on here and other sites.. At the time I am writing this, the critic score is 87 and the user rating is 5.6.

In the past, a lot of these issues would have been fixed on the first day with user mods, but Bioware pretty much killed mods for this game because they wouldn't be able to sell DLC otherwise. No, i don't know that for sure, but I am assuming. Again, if you want to play this game.. and it is actually a good game, get it on console. Do not get this game on PC! It wasn't designed to be played on PC even if they released it for that.

    3. UI, this UI is worse than Skyrim for a PC. Never thought I'd ever see Skyrim's UI trump another games.
    4. Side quests have zero story. Its just fetch these said items and return to me. Or kill these 5 enemies and return to me. Or explore these five areas and return to me. Literally there are no compelling reasons to do a side quest if you're interested in lore, it's just a grind.
    5. Main quest is at most 10 hours long but is locked behind level and resource requirements to drag out the game.
    6. AI is just dumb and there's no options for control like DA:O
    7. There's not much role-playing? There's not a lot of options for good/bad consequences other than extremely tacked on judgements by the PC.

To me the game feels like initially it was an MMO and after the disaster that was Simcity they scrapped the idea, reused assets and released the game. Last Bioware game I day one after glowing reviews.

Game looks pretty and I liked the character creator. The main quest also isn't too shabby, albeit a bit corny but with lack of compelling sidequests and characters its just boring when you're grinding the game out to advance the main story.

I'm re-reviewing this game. I think it's really pretty awesome, I hadn't gotten into the story originally but felt it had the mechanics to make for a good game. You run around and find stuff and do fetch quests etc. also it's buggy, my voice changed because of something I changed in the game, and it takes awhile to load sometimes and the A.I. is bad.... So why a 9? Because it's still freaking awesome! I really think these guys tried to put a quality product together and it shows. I like the characters, I want to know more about them, I like the way they designed the armor and weapons and I like the variety of locations and ambiances to those locations. The second you get bored of the fetch quests, you go talk to your companions and they have great things to say. There's an almost Shakespearean element to the Orlaiseans and there's always something else to do when you get bored. The fact that anyone gave this game a 0 or 1 is just wrong. Unless you couldn't run it, it totally doesn't deserve it. It's a labor of love, I think it may have been rushed but nothing game-breaking so far and the story to me is engaging. As far as my system, I'm running a 2009 setup with a GTX 700s series gfx card and 8 gigs of RAM and it still can run pretty well on ultra for most settings. Play this, unless you really truly miss the complexity of older isometric titles, it really is pretty deep and fun! Expand

There is a lot to like about Dragon Age Inquisition. It has a big sprawling world (well, it's got a bunch of large contained regions rather than a single world), its got interesting and well voiced characters, and a pretty decent story (not sure if it is as good as Origins or not still).

Unfortunately it is a buggy world. There's a lot of animation clipping, companions in your base sometimes don't appear and you have to leave the area and return for them to show up, there are a host of bugged quests ranging from missing NPCs (reloading and doing it again generally works) to more mysterious quests that simply won't clear for no apparent reason. It also has DirectX issues and if you're unlucky you can suffer numerous CTDs.

However, the worst bug is related to a returning character who depending on your decision regarding them can CHANGE your character's voice. There is nothing more immersion breaking then after 15 hrs of playing the game to suddenly have your character's voice change. This bug is probably the most damning and 10 days after the game's release it has still to be fixed.

A lot of people complain about the PC controls, I didn't find them too bad. The tactical combat is pretty poorly done. You don't really have much in the way of options to control your AI companions and the camera doesn't zoom out nearly far enough. Combat isn't too bad, it is fun and colourful and people can argue it's shallow, but for the most part I found it fun enough.

If your a hardcore RPGer you'll probably be very disappointed with the very limited skill trees. DAI is definitely no Path of Exiles when it comes to giving players choice and scope in leveling and building a character, but it's adequate.

All in all, DAI is a good game. I would really like to give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. However, at this stage given the number of bugs (particularly the voice change bug) I'm going to give it a more modest 7.

The world is quite large but not particularly interesting, controls are passable a bit clunky and MMO like, certainly nothing special. i would have been more than happy to wade through these shortcomings to enjoy some heart pounding tactical combat the previous two titles were known for, sadly the true Coup de grâce for inquisition is its new simplistic and offensively poor combat system.there really isn't anything else like it, its a new kind of crap, so points for originality i suppose. It is at its core a very poor third person hack and slash with some bells and whistles, the tactical combat still exists but as a separate mode in a different fixed (and you guessed it, terrible) camera angle, you can only order one attack per character per pause and the time it takes to do this makes it feel very burdensome.
All that being said the story is great, the voice acting is excellent and if it wasn't a dragon age title i may have given it a 6. At this point certainly not worth the money, better to go back and complete all the DLC on the first and second game or wait for pillars of eternity. I suppose we shouldn't have complained about dragon age 2, and Bioware PLEASE don't do this to Mass Effect 4

How about those demons and rogues appearing out of nowhere in Hinterlands, taking you by surprise? The writing in this game is really superior to DA II and even Origins. The characters are great. I was expecting to HATE Cassandra but I'm surprised with her and now she's my main tank. Just an example. The music is superb, the voice acting is nice, the customization is ok (not as detailed as in DAO but still there and really better than DA2). The combat system is not bad and the story got me hooked so far. The enemies are not easy at all. There are areas with easy enemies and areas you learn to avoid until you get good gear and are in this or that level. But the pleasure to kill them when you're prepared is great. If you like RPG I say: be careful with all the hate towards this game. Honestly most everything about the hate is NOT legit. Never felt the need to write a review about a game like this but since I love this serie so much. Let's get started:

    Story 1/10 :

Rifts are opening everywhere in Thedas bringing with them waves of demons. You're quickly put in charge of a newly created organization called the Inquisition which is in charge of dealing with this problem. This sounds pretty good, however nothing that you do has any real impacts on how you build this organization.

This is the biggest problem with the story in this game, it's bland and all the choice that you make have no impact on the game overall. You ally yourself with this group instead of another, no impact on the story at all. You kill this person instead of let him go, nothing changes. I even tried to piss off Sera, a party member, has much as possible and she never even let a hint that she was annoyed with me. I remember games like Baldur's gate, Planescape Torment or Dragon age Origins where choices that you make could cause party members to leave or betray you. Massive disappointment here.

The main enemy has a really exciting story behind him, however, Bioware screw this up since we see this villain during about 3-4 cutscenes for the whole game. For the final mission, I was expecting a big build up where you send your massive army that you worked for during the game against the enemy. Of course not, just a quick cutscene and your fightning against the last boss. What happened here ??

    Gameplay 2/10:

Welcome to Dragon Age Inquisition the MMO. Almost all quests are fetch quests, close the same rift 100 times and kill this generic enemy. If you like MMO, this might be the game for you. The fact that the mining and the pick up animation takes a few seconds makes this task even worse.

The controls are horrible on PC and when I mean horrible, it's bad. I had to go buy a Xbox One controller at the store because I was giving myself Carpal Tunnel just from playing. That tactical camera is completely broken and a mess, you can't zoom out.

The main missions are quite good. However, there's not even 10 of them (i'm not even kidding).

    Sound 5/10:

The soundtracks are fine but don't have the quality of the first game. I played this game for 100 hours and I can't even remember one song.

    Graphics 8/10:

The graphics are good, if you a PC that can run it. The textures are good and the background looks impressive. The environment is also immersive and will bring you some wow moments.

    Bugs:

The main reason why I game this game a 1/10. This game is buggy as hell to a point where it's almost unplayable. Here are a list of bugs that I encounter myself:

Transgender bug: don't know what caused this, however the game will consider you a female even if you're male. Had to restart a 15 hours game because of this.

Voice change bug: if you decide to customize Hawke in-game, you character voice changes forever. Learned this the hard way

Infinite loading: sometimes the game will load forever.

Epileptic NPCs: NPCs will float in the air, disappear in the ground and will be missing limbs. Funny but completely breaks immersion.

Freezing cut scenes: approximately 10 % of the time, the cut scenes will freeze and I had to restart the game.

Searching bug: by pressing on the left joystick (Xbox One controller) you can search your environment. Sometimes, you will not find anything even if you're searching directly on the object and you will have to restart your game.

Solas quest bug: couldn't trigger the demon cut scene in Solas quest, had to restart again.

Bad specializations: I was playing has a mage and was given warriors specializations. Had to restart the game.

    Multiplayer 0/10:

Multiplayer is fun but unplayable at the moments due to numerous bugs. This looks like it wasn't even tested. Here are again a list of bugs but only for the multiplayer:

Connection error: have fun with this 75 % of the game you join will result in this. Can't move: happens 25 % of the time when I join a game. Un-killable invisible enemies: enemies will go in stealth and refuse to come out of it. Furthermore, they will be invincible in this state. Respawning urns: you can get money from urns. However, most of them respawn as soon as you destroy them. Unable to progress: each stage is divided in 5 parts in which you need a key to go to the next part. Sometimes, if one of your party member dies and disconnect, you will be unable through progress. Extreme rubber-banding: happens to every one of my friends. The only way you can avoid this is by jumping. Final score 1/10: Could have been a fun game. Weak story and gameplay with massive game breaking bugs bring this game to a 1/10. Do not buy, I repeat do not buy until Bioware fixes the bugs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't normally write reviews but after seeing the overwhelming negative user reviews I figured I'd give my thoughts. Most people I see complaining are the people who claim the game is too much like an MMORPG. I really dont see the comparison myself the combat is sort of mmo ish but Im not sure about most people who bought this game but I didnt and dont buy dragon age games for their combat systems. Anyone who is a fan of these games usually buys them for their great story lines, interesting lore and characters. This game has a ton of content, probably on par with an elder scrolls game. The game is not seamlessly open world but rather has multiple massive maps so its not really that big of a deal. So many of the areas are very atmospheric and you get to visit such a wide variety of environments you never really get bored with the areas your in. There are a ton of very interesting and well written quest's in the game. For those who wrote negative reviews perhaps you are sitting there doing the requisition officer's quest's over and over? This game has several 'endless' questlines as I dont know what else to call them where you go out and do meaningless and dull quest's such as getting ram hides or getting herbs. I just skip all of these though none of them are required for you to progress and there are much more interesting quest's to do once you get past the hinterlands. Such as *Spoilers* getting involved in orlesian politics and 'the game', finding the lost grey wardens and the mystery to their disappearance, unflooding a town thats been flooded for years and is crawling with undead, choosing whether to side with the templars or mages( this decision changes your whole game), fighting dragons of course, and many more I'm about 30 hours in and dont think I'm halfway done yet.
    TL:DR
    Pros:
    Great environments and atmosphere
Tons of interesting quest's and characters
    Very challenging on higher difficulties
So much stuff that you can do, and the best part is you CHOOSE whether or not you want to do most of it
    Cons:
I have it on PC so its buggy in places sometimes youll get stuck in a quest and have to reload
I also had a problem with it crashing when I first got it but just updated all my drivers and it fixed it

other than the bugs that you get from pretty much any video game nowadays the game is excellent

50 hours in and my only real faults with the game so far:
    - Hinterlands was badly made. Mostly boring unimportant quests. As soon as i left the area the game got better. Way way better. All main areas and side areas are all better than hinterlands, by far.
    - Heroes and hero banter just isnt as good as origins (yet anyway). Too many of them and they just don't mingle as well, though i have found they are getting a bit better now. Living up to a Morrigan + Alistar or Alistar + Wynne or just shale would be pretty hard though.
    - Friendly fire is unusable, especially with the rubbish tactical camera. Turn friendly fire off. It's just setup terribly and makes the game unfun and many skills / attacks unusable.
    - Tactical camera, its just total rubbish.
    - Lack of healing. Guard / shields are just not as good as the proven healing system (that also had shield spells). Makes no sense in the games universe and barriers are a halfassed version of the same thing. But add the requirement to have to return to town / camp.
    - Lack of tactics. On / off on a spell and the potions / follow thing does not count as tactics.
    - Clunky and slow menus designed for a console. Could have been done far better on PC.
    - The console autoaim makes melee attacks hit the wrong direction often. I cannot force it to attack a certian direction with keyboard / mouse. It will try pick a target on its own (even if no target is selected). Often causing swinging at nothing.

    - My biggest problem by far. Not enough abiity buttons are mappable / usable on the ability bar. Using a mage i now have skills that i need to respec out of, as there is a limit of 8. (and you cant pause and change them mid combat either)

Sure the fault list is pretty big. But in the end its nothing compared to all the good in the game.

    - Yes it needs a good PC to run well. I'm running between High - Ultra without AA and runs really well on 8GB RAM, SSD and standard clocked i5-3570k & a 40% underclocked Radeon R9 290 (because the card comes with a **** cooling system and i want it quiet.). If your PC cant run it properly then you need a better PC or a better optimised PC.

On any other games apart from the story the most of the other issues wouldn't have been an issue. But this is Dragon Age and a follows on from games like Baldurs Gate.

    - Story seems pretty good so far, though i am doing all the side quests / areas so have gotten that far into the main story itself. Hinterlands side quests were pretty **** The other areas are better and usually tied to the story / add to it.

The game itself is very good, combat is fun (though it is just hack and slash rather than a RPG like dragon age / Baldurs Gate type game) story good so far and the game does look very nice. I do recommend the game and am really enjoying playing it. All the extra stuff does chew up time and works well as something out of the simple combat.
Combat wise, to have Dragon Age Origins similar combat they need to: Add an option for advanced tactics like Origins, be able to zoom out 2-3 times further and fix friendly fire.

Gave it an 8, once i finish the game will update it.

In the end, I paid about $40USD and the game is definitely worth the price.

No auto attack, for some reason you have to hold the button even for basic attacks, so your mouse is never free to navigate or use spells of the hotbar. Then, you can press LMB to attack any time - as a mage casting magic missles over the walls. I missclick sometimes, breaks the immersion for me.
    Jump animation -_-
    Crashes to desktop.
Unresponsive interface. It takes a while to register clicks in the character menu/inventory, sometimes it ends up registering multiple clicks with a long delay. On a PC that handled Battlefield 4 very well.

That being said, I have to give DA: Inquisition a 9. I think that the ability system is fairly bland (like DA:O), the tactical combat camera is very poorly implemented, and they seem to have made a mistake in putting too much cookie cutter content into the first major area (Hinterlands). Outside of those issues it is a beautiful and engaging piece of work.

The world is extremely large and detailed, the story is fun and enjoyable, combat isn't as strategic or difficult (even on nightmare), as I would have preferred, but its still fun and doesn't really seem to get boring.

One last bit I wanted to mention. I have seen some people upset with the fact that there are some 'MMO' elements. I take this to mean re-spawning baddies and materials. I can see how this may put some people off, but I enjoy it, as it makes the world seem less dead (can you ever really clear out all the bandits?), and it allows much more experimentation in crafting gear (you're not paranoid about using those high end materials 'perfectly').

TLDR: Its not the perfect 3D Baldur's Gate 2 that I've wanted for years, but its a great game in and of itself. DA2 was truly nothing cash grab garbage, but DA: Inquisition is worth your time and money. Pick it up.

Purely amazing upgrades to the Dragon Age series. I've played em all, and this is the best one. Big open world maps, lots of intertwining story arcs, lots of back to the root RPG mechanics. One of the best RPGs made to date.

Dragon age origins strong points - Character depth, tactics, story telling

Dragon Age 2 strong points - Faster paced action which was very appealing (don't deny it)

Now we have Dragon Age inqusition! A mesh of the best things DA:O and DA2 brought to the table AND MORE.

Huge open world with absolutely gorgeous graphics that please your very pupils. Fast paced action from DA2 with the best tactics DA:O had to offer. Amazing voice acting and story telling. Music score is breathtaking! Lore! Lore everywhere! Pieces of parchment, notes, books, signs, scribings! If you love spending time reading through all the lore a game has to offer, you're definitely in for a treat! I've played all of 2014's AAA games and other titles. This is a serious Game of the year contender for me!

I seriously am amazed to see as many negative reviews as there are positives. I spent time going through these and want to absolutely squash myths and bulls**t info people are posting.

1- Controlls on pc aren't terrible! They're just as they were on DA:O and DA2. This game has added features! Perhaps those giving negative reviews due to the controls just have severe dyslexia and can't learn new commands! This is the most annoying negative view point I've seen. I've now played with both board/mouse and xbone gamepad. Both are amazing. My preference is the XBONE controller. Absolutely hit the nail on the head here. By far the SMOOTHEST controls to date on an RPG. Top notch quality! The mouse/board is also great, I just enjoy the faster paced action more with a gamepad but can comfortable give both a 10/10

2- Stuttering. Yes the game stuttered for me in cut scenes and every now and then during gameplay. I'm running sli GTX 970's with other top end gear and playing on max settings. Rather then throwing a tantrum like most (if not all) negative reviewers have...I looked at my experiences with other games. TURN OFF ORIGIN IN GAME. Also, google the 30fps cutscene fix and apply that! No more stutters. Buttery smooth on max settings. Brilliant! If you still don't have smoothness, turn your settings down or upgrade your hardware if you can't live without playing on max settings. It's end of 2014! sorry...your GTX 780 isn't going to cut it ladies and gents.

3-Voice acting, score and story telling. I read a review which absolutely tore bits in the voice acting, music score and story telling. Son...you are a fool. The voice acting is top notch, the music in game is absolute brilliance and the story is just as compelling as DA:O!

4- Not open world? Uhmm....no words needed. Rest assured, this is open world gameplay

5- No tactics? What...no tactics? Tactics everywhere! Perhaps you should turn up your difficulty from easy and play with the big boys! I see people crying saying they ruined DAO's tactical brilliance. INCORRECT! They've taken it and made it better! How can you diss this flawless tactical screen? Seriously?!?! Pure brilliance! And there still is some level of auto tactics you can set for your companions. Is it as in depth as DAO? No. Why? well simple! YOU HAVE THE GODAMN TACTICAL SCREEN! THAT’S WHAT IT IS THERE FOR. SAME THING AS AUTO TACTICS IN DAO BUT NOW YOU GET TO SEE IT IN THE FLESH, MODIFY IT FOR EVERY SCENARIO AND WATCH IT PLAY OUT IN REAL TIME OR SLOW MO! Open your eyes people!

6- UI and menus. What’s wrong with them? They are crisp, clear easy to use and a mixture of both DAO and DA2 with their own personal added recipe to make this 2014 AAA highly anticipated game achieve greater heights then their predecessors.

This game is a solid 10/10. Does it have bugs? Yes it does. Do I care? No. It’s in it’s first week of release and there are no game breaking bugs for the majority of people. Corrupt files and gender changes? These sorts of bugs are existent in many games on release! They don’t affect everyone! By the way, how can you rip a company for releasing a game as massive as Dragon Age inquisition with some bugs? Yes….there will be bugs! Why wouldn’t there be? They’ve only just released a next gen game 100x larger and more complex then Dragon age origins and in the same time frame! They’re still ONLY HUMAN. The human race has not evolved.. and I’m sure IQ levels were the same as they were back in 2009 when DA:O was released!

Now, commence the “how much has Bioware paid him” rant.

This game is a must have for 2014. Make sure your hardware can handle it and happy playing!

I will not deny the that game is beautiful, how could it not be using frostbite 3, but that is basically the only thing it has going for it. The main story is uninspired and the side quests are typical boring grind missions that are more annoying than entertaining, but amazingly these are not the major reasons I loath this game. The user interface is the worst I have ever seen. It is very obvious that this game was made for console, and PC was an after thought. Bioware's flawless propaganda will have you believe that this game was made by PC gamers for PC gamers, this is a total outright lie. So unless you want to use a console controller with your PC, which total defeats the purpose of being a PC gamer, I would stay away from this trash. My advice to the developer is to take a lesson from Guild Wars 2 on how to setup a proper user interface. Expand

For die-hard DA-Origin Fans... like me. Your first hours into Dragon Age Inquisition are going to be a shock, and you will be upset and resentful. You will feel this is the dumbing down of RPGs to fit the idiocy of the masses, and that Dragon Age has somehow turned into Assassin's Creed. That nothing is left of the beautiful story-driven tactical experience of the first game. However, eventually two things will fix this view for you.

1: Time. The game seems simple for many hours, the plot can be hard to follow, and thus seeming hollow. However, after about 10-20 hours that changes, and the beauty of the game opens up to you.

2: For God's sake if you want a tactical experience, you must play this game on Hard, or Nightmare. Anything less, and yes, this is an action game that doesn't require a lot of brains and will seem in-part like some kinda open-world action clone. Assassin's Creed and Saints Row come to mind.

Moving on to the awesome! This game has the best graphics of any RPG I have ever seen. However, owning the hardware to demonstrate this requires one to be on the cutting edge of current PC specifications, a place I am rather fortunate to be at right now. There is a baffling amount of detail here, and the world is BIG, with tons of awesome, magical, shiny, beautiful places to explore.

The story opens up too, at first, it will seem this game didn't have to be a Dragon Age title at all, but eventually you will get dragons and grey wardens and darkspawn!

A deep crafting/resource gathering feature, as well as some neat ways to customize your gear are very welcome additions.

Tactical Mode is not nearly as bad as people are griping about. It is a bit on the micromanagement side. But should only need to be employed for the most challenging 5% of battles, at which point it does an amazing and unique job at leaving you in control of everything without devolving into a turn-based affair. The camera in this mode can be a little unweildy, but with the scope of the environments and enemies. I have no idea how they would address this. It's not that it is innately bad, it's just that I don't think there is any perfect way to get a great view of such large and active battles.

I really like the pacing and rhythm to this game. Play a main story mission, then return to base, and do a lot of talking and story progression.(more on that later) Then build your characters up with a bevy of sidequests, activities, and exploration.. Return to base, upgrade all the things, and repeat. Keeps things changing enough that I feel it doesn't get stale.

About dialogue and story. If you're like me and can't remember every little detail about the previous Dragon Ages, you will need to exhaust most conversation options to get a good understanding of some things. Like which factions and powers are which etc. After a major story mission, getting back to base and exhausting all dialogue can take hours. This can be a pro or a con, depending on who you are. I have to say the extreme amount of dialogue is something I'm hesitantly thankful for, but even I lose patience for it occasionally.

In essence, Dragon Age inquisition starts out with a bunch of red-flags and contrivances, but evolves into a deep and satisfying gaming relationship.

Extremely disappointed in this game. The PC mouse-and-keyboard controls are horrendous, really really bad. How could a "PC-First" developer get it so wrong. The visuals are beautiful and the story is intriguing, but those controls just constantly get in the way.

Combat is shallow, non-tactical, and borrows its mechanics from action-games rather than RPGs. If you were expecting Dragon Age: Origins style tactical combat then you are in for a rude awakening. The 'tactical camera' is no use at all for tactical play, and the orders issued to your party members are soon forgotten. You have to constantly fight against the tactical camera to achieve anything, so you soon forget about it and just play the button-mashing game.

Inventory/skill management is straight out of a console game UI, which is ok if you are using a game-pad but extremely tedious if you use a mouse and keyboard. The basics of what you'd expect to do with a PC RPG are missing, or dumbed down.

Movement of the character during general game-play will give you RSI if you expect to use the mouse, as you have to constantly hold the right mouse button to direct them. Just using WASD is better, but not the usual control for a PC RPG. You cannot left-click to select things, such as an enemy, as that will instead take a swing at them (or loose an arrow/fireball). You cannot right-click to activate a remote object, such as loot/door/enemy if it is out of range. There is no helpful 'move to this and activate it' functionality at all.

Your quick-action bar is limited to just 8 abilities, despite the fact that as you level you can gain much more than 8 abilities. This is a limitation directly from the console version, which only allows for 8 mappable actions.

Unlike other reviewers I have had no technical problems (apart from my male character being referred to as 'she' or 'her' on occasion).

The game looks beautiful, but the game-play is exceptionally shallow - not what you'd expect from a developer that used to be the leading developer for PC RPGs. If you play this on a console, or with a game-pad you will probably enjoy it as a shallow action-rpg'ish experience. As the latest chapter in a highly rated PC RPG franchise it is seriously lacking and hugely disappointing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

It's clear that the makers of DAI wanted to take a Skyrim-like experience and give it a Bioware touch of story and character. I don't care much for Skyrim because the story is so weak, so this is definitely a step up. However, there is not as much main plot as there was (or at least appeared to be) in DA Origins.

I don't care much for Skyrim because the story is so weak, so this is definitely a step up. However, there is not as much main plot as there was (or at least appeared to be) in DA Origins.

Nonetheless, I'm 30+ hours in and really enjoying it. It looks beautiful on High and Ultra settings, but does start to look plastic and shiny on medium or lower settings. I actually went out and bought a new machine to play it on Ultra.

The main story is compelling and I like the idea of being able to control agents and work on missions across the world. But those who complain of too many side quests are not wrong: there are a ton! Some are cool, many are trivial. There are lots of crafting "ingredients" to gather, and you have flexibility in the kinds of weapons and armor you want to make.

Another feature that I really like is the Dragon Keep website, where you can select virtually all the major decisions of the previous games in order to "export" your Dragon Age world as you start your Inquisition experience.

On the downside, there are some mechanics that are not explained. For example, I no longer have attribute points to modify strength, intelligence, and other traits. Or if I do, I have no idea how to do that. It appears that modifications to attributes occur only through weapons, armor, and your selection of abilities. But given that the first two games had attribute points, it seems weird not to have it in this game--especially without explanation.

And I agree with those who bemoan the loss of auto-attack. It would be nice if at least a player could choose auto-attack versus manual. Some people surely enjoy the action game-feel, but on PC, having to hit "R" over and over for basic attacks is a pain.

And the tactical camera is sometimes tough to maneuver. A few times I've tried to close a rift over my head only to have a heck of a time getting close enough to it so that I can close it while also angling the camera up so I can see it. It's especially difficult if there are demons beating on my character.

Gamers are passionate people and many have become passionate recently (due, at least in part, to the infamous Mass Effect 3 ending) about trashing Bioware and EA, but games are even harder to make than epic movies. There are so many variables and things that can go wrong. I don't know how much playtesting or focus group testing Bioware does--maybe they should do more--but I wish the people giving this game a 1 or 2 rating would take a deep breath and try to find some perspective. The worst that Bioware is guilty of here, I think, is trying too hard to please too many people. They wanted to satisfy those who love the open aspect of a Skyrim but want the great story of a DA Origins. They're trying to do both and may wind up falling short on both counts. But even so, the game is fun and enjoyable.

As I wrote at the start, a only about halfway into the game (or less, as I am a bit of a completionist), but I am very happy I bought this game.

I'm really amazed at all the positive reviews this game has. For pc the controls are really clunky, combat is difficult, not because of game mechanics, but just because you its difficult to target what you need to target. I really don't understand how all reviewers can just skip this important part over. A lesson of 60 euros to teach me to trust user reviews above critic reviews..

As for story, I can't complain. It was pretty good for what it was, without going in depth and spoiling for anyone reading this review.

Companions: Was my only problem, many of them were forgettable and I could care less about. Some felt like they were added into the story just because of convenience through side quests and then had no real impact to the main story line.

Although there are some glitches in the game and loading screens are a bit long, that isn't something I should complain about because those can be fixed with patches and such. After all, for a rushed title they did a damn good job!

I am running the game on a 780ti. I have a 144hz widescreen monitor to play at 16:9. When I first started the game it had automatically set the graphics settings to ultra and the frame rate to 144hz. While in gameplay the game looks good at 144hz, the cutscenes are where its shows the 30 fps cap the developers placed on it. I ultimately decided to switch to 60 fps and take one of the graphics settings down so it is not true "ultra" settings. Even at these settings, the cutscenes still had some "chop" to them. Of course, there is a quick fix for that if you look for it. I managed to play the entire game without having to resort to it, but at the same time I was avoiding any comments on the game until after I completed it.

As for the game itself, provided you have a good system to experience it fully, it is very well put together and the Frostbite 3 engine is exactly what BioWare needed to convey its stories. The unique visuals and vast landscapes do a fantastic job in fleshing the world. Dragon Age II had constantly reused maps for various quests. Inquisition on the other hand, feels more like Skyrim in that there are unique dungeons and areas scattered all over various maps and you can fast travel to waypoints near them if necessary. There are mounts for the game that make the travel that much quicker, but there are also plenty of resources on the ground that you will want for crafting and gear modifying later.

Combat feels a touch slower than in Dragon Age II, but that is probably a good thing considering how overpowered the player was in that game. I also dig the new ability for archer rogues to strafe or move while they auto-attack. Yes, there is auto-attack, even if some of the reviews say otherwise. You just hold the left mouse button down while you cast your special moves. You can even switch targets on the fly with tab key targeting.

The story of the game picks up where the second game left off and does a great job in introducing characters to the player, working them into the various plots, and letting the player know how their decisions affect their party or their moral stance. Finish a favor or quest for one of the characters and you will often find better items for them to equip. Gain a high approval rating with these characters and their overall respect for the player character becomes that much more believable. Yes, romance options are there.

I have played videogames for a long time, so much so that I find it harder and harder to start the next one and truly feel immersed in the story and atmosphere. I feel this one stands out amongst so many others over the years. I think its been a few years, in fact, since I last played a game through so quickly or put so much of my free time into it in such a short couple of weeks. If you are a fan of role-playing or adventure games, I say look no further until you've tried it.

In DAO all of that was just shoved to the beginning which made any subsequent playthrough a drag after about the first hour.

I also found the gameplay in DAO and partially in DA2 so boring that it was really hard to get through multiple playthroughs. I understand that it is significantly trickier to make an actual open game world, but I hate when games have invisible walls which force you to walk all the way around that patch of grass to get to your destination. To see some of the consequences of certain choices I ended up just watching youtube videos of DAO and DA2 because I didn't see the fun in going through the Deep Roads in Orzammar yet again which could take up a whole evening. On that note, there are only a very few areas that you are forced to visit in the DAI story which makes subsequent playthroughs less repetitive.

While I found the story of DAO very entertaining, there was no difficulty in picking the "right" choice. That game was from a story point of view very optimizable in that you can easily determine how many good things and how many bad things happened based on your decisions. You simply had too much control over a very complex world, which for me is not plausible. In DAI there is no right answer. Most of the decisions cannot be optimized and the situations that you are confronted with are very grey. That is also the same with characters in DAI. You really have to get to know them to understand their motivations and for what they approve of. They also differ significantly more from each other rather than the basic pragmatic vs. idealist DAO character categories. With the newer engines the characters are also able to convey emotions better via realistic facial expressions. That combined with the superb voice acting, the better writing and the great score, there were a few situations where I actually teared up or screamed in anger.

To some of the more technical stuff: the control system is different from DAO and DA2, but it is not that hard to relearn. When the game came out at midnight I was rather drunk but wanted to make sure it ran smoothly on my NVIDIA 570 graphics card, lest I needed to buy a new one the next day. I had no trouble figuring out the controls even after being in a DAO and DA2 gaming mode. Also it ran perfectly smoothly on high (not ultra) settings with my graphics card and looks perfectly fine. The tac cam in closed quarters can, however, be so frustrating that I just didn't use it. In more difficult fights that are in a more open space it is really useful, as you are forced to really use the correct abilities and positioning rather than just hacking away at your enemy's health.

Although I was really worried when I learned that healing spells were gone, I find it much more enjoyable that I have to use healing potions instead, of which you can carry a limited number. You are no longer forced to bring a mage with frigging spirit healer abilities. You also have a limited number of slots for other potions which can make the difference between survival and death. This made preparing for explortation a fun part of gameplay.

The main story is very fulfilling. Some people complain that it is the same old "chosen one to save the world scenario" which was in essence the case in DAO. The story actively addresses that issue, whereas DAO did not. The other option is of course DA2 where you are just an ordinary person put in an extraordinary situation. I find either story basis perfectly acceptable.

I didn't play a completionist playthrough because I couldn't wait for certain answers to questions that DAO and DA2 posed...and boy are they answered! In my second play throug,h to my surprise, without giving any spoilers, I am noticing a lot of things that make me say "Bioware, you saucy minx you"!

I would like to note that I have read a **** of reviews on this site about DAI and many people have complained that all the positive reviewers are just payed Russian or Chinese reviewers, but ironically many of the ratings with 0 have been posted multiple times and I assume that means that some people are just creating multiple accounts, I assume because they wanted exactly Dragon Age Origins 2.0 and didn't get it. Sometimes change is good.

Since I have been playing I have noticed a few of the minor annoyances and bugs that all the critics have been mentioning and none of them really detract significantly from the game. I can't say enough good things about this game and don't feel like writing anymore ´cause I want to go play more DAI.

Reading the negative reviews on this website, I am genuingly questioning whether or not they are reviewing the correct game. Perhaps the PC version is experiencing user issues but I find it very difficult to fault the console versions.

    - The story line resembles the enticing complexity and passion of Dragon Age Origins, with detailed side quests resulting in approximatley 100 hours of gameplay.
    - Perhaps not the same level of character depth for each companion as Dragon Age Origins, but there it is still easy to become drawn to specific characters and their stories quickly.
    - Vast, and I mean vast zones ripe for exploration. These zones can very from 5 to 8 hours of game time to fully explore (including all side quests etc.)
    - Quirky new additions to the content of the game, for example, without giving to much away, later in the game, the main protagonist can reside as a judge in specific side missions and decide the fate of opponents.
    - Personalisation of the armour and weapons of all characters to suit your style.
    - Incredible visuals using Frostbite 3 to create a highly defined world.

I could go on but this I feel this is a suitable summary of what this game can provide. Highly recommend giving this game a go!

Probably the best Bioware's game since Dragon Age: Origins.
Excellent graphics; the plot is mediocre, but the characters are very nice and I like the dialogues.
I think that Bioware should work better on the combat system next time, make it more tactical and less "click-click-click-style".
Advanteges of this game are a lot stronger than it's disadvantages anyway.

This is one of the best games I have played in a long while. The story is what you expect from a Bioware title, while the dialog and interactive choices both serve to rank this game up with Mass Effect and KOTOR. However, this is not either of those games. This adds a strategic board, multiple resources to manage, and of course roleplaying elements to what could have just been a hack and slash adventure title. The additions make this much more than a RPG, and add depth of complexity to the combat elements. The real stars are the party members, fully voiced and constantly offering criticism, advice and prompts to the dialog of the game, often towards each other as well as the player.

There are glitches, as with any game produced nowadays, but I have encountered none that really take a lot away from the game. Its processor demands are high, as well as its memory demands. In summary, you need a decent rig to play the game, so I imagine some of the criticism may have been garnered from that.

However to all that rushed to give this a negative review, I say, your loss. You are missing a great game and one which promises to top over a hundred hours of my game time given my current time spent. Most games are shorter and lack the depth of the game you panned. So go back to League and the rest of us will go back to playing one of the most rewarding titles of the year.

Bioware had a lot to make up to their players, after the rushed disappointment that was Dragon Age II and the debacle known as Mass Effect 3. They took their time and it shows. And while they heavily improved on the shortcomings of "Inquisitions" precursor, they opened themselves up for a whole world of stupid design decisions.

    The positive:
    ++ Graphics
Frostbite shows it's teeth. Marvelous textures, great faces, superb lighting. The metal shaders are supreme and some scenes border on photo-realism. On the other hand, hair looks garbage. It's as reflective as a shiny armour and gives a super-greasy impression. It's beyond me, that no one noticed it during development, as it detracts from the immersion and ridicules many a serious scenes.
    +++ Sound
Great Music, great effects. I especially like that allies under attack, are either calling for help or other allies try to draw your attention to their plight.
    ++ Level Design
Large semi open-world maps are enticing players to be explored. Never a dull corner, always the urge: "Just that ridge." Only drawback, some areas are so thick with enemies, that fast enemy respawn and long ways to replenish supplies means, that you're fighting some battles 2 or 3 times, before you break through to a nearer camp site. Especially on higher difficulties, where you burn through your healing potions like water in the desert.
    ++ Characters
Great NPCs, great allies. Good depth of character, and good character development for the main cast. We know that Bioware can create great characters, but their integration into the world lacks. It's mostly unimportant who you take on missions. No special story tidbits and only minor quibs that are interchangeable. Follower quests are mostly "Fetch Crap" missions.

    The mehs:
    +- Crafting
Exhaustive system and every piece of equipment can be crafted and modified by modifieable mods. Stats and textures change based on the ingredients. But I'm not comfortable with having to grind for the resources as it leads to a lot of useless fights while farming. The ocasional armor and weapon can be crafted with the resources you gobble up while exploring. Having all your companions equipped to their best is a tiresome task to undertake.
    +- Items
Most non-crafted items are vendor-trash, uniques are far and few between and mostly bland in appearance and stats. Merchants are garbage dumps, as they stock nothing of particular interest. I've got loads of cash with nothing to spend it on, so I'm thinking about investing in that Orlesian mad man.
    +- Story/Dialogues
Won't spoil it for you. Just: I've seen better writing. It still occasionally shines, and Biowares past genius glimpses.

    The neeeeeeeeeeegs:
    --- Skill trees and leveling
I hate it. No more sustainable skills. Everythings active now. Even basic attacks. I hate that mmo-crap. No influence over how the attributes are raised, instead buying some skills will raise them. No talents, no traps, no lockpicking, no coercion, no persuasion. Every chest opens, most doors are opened by all roques, no matter how they are skilled. Overall: Less possibilities for truly unique and great builds, more blandness. But hey: Players won't **** it up at least.
    -- Potions
They are useless. You can equip at most 2 different potions per character in addition to healing potions. And since you can't enter your inventory mid-combat and adapt by swapping useless potions out and useful ones in it's pretty much pointless. Fill those slots with grenades and go postal.
    --- AI
Tactics screen is gone, the alternative is ridiculous. Expect your mages to **** up your party with their aoe, lest you micromanage them. Expect your 2-handed guy to **** up your party then. Solution: Dumb it down, disable friendly fire. The rock, paper, scissors buffs from DA2 have been dumbed down even more...
    ---Combat
Is ****ed up. Balancing is garbage. For a game that's mostly about fighting, Bioware sure messed it up.
    ---Camera
A joke. How am I supposed to coordinate an attack, when it's impossible to get all your allies in one screen? Camera hangs on every corner, pray, that no chandelier whacks your zoom even closer.
    ---UI
Console UI for a PC game. It's deficient, and it shows everywhere. Mouse not working on some menus unless you RMB first.

9 in favour 17 against: 26% is my score. Sure, go ahead and buy it if you're a fanboy like me. But do expect to rage regularly, because there is a beautiful game buried underneath a pile of bad design decisions. And that grows ever more in you, as "Dragon Age: Inquisition" will be rubbing your nose into its deficiencies for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

Graphics: Ultra w/ no Anti Aliasing

(A little history: I have played through DA:O and DA2 in many characters on many levels of difficulty. Also the entire ME series. I know from whence I speak.)

This is not DA:O and it was not meant to be DA:O. Therefore, I chose not to judge the game by its predecessors, but rather on its own merits.

Solid and slightly reminiscent game play, definitely not the horror show that has run amuck in these reviews. What was an incredible pain is the controls.Yes, it was a rushed PC port and I believe that this has soured the game for those using the venerable mouse and keyboard. HOWEVER, it is far from broken and once I acclimated and played with the key assignment, it has rarely bothered me again.

It also tends to rarely and randomly crash to desktop with a DirectX error, but that is more annoying than an actual deal breaker.

Apart from that, the graphics are amazing. I love the detail and the fresh upgrades to old characters. I did bypass the tactical view due to the drunk monkey controls and just used the the 3rd person view for directing the battle. I do feel like I am grinding with some of the side quests and I get the chilling ME3 feeling with the "War Room," but I believe there is enough DNA from past incarnations to keep the game from falling into that nightmare.

If anything this game takes the best of Origins and DA2, melding them together with upgraded and stunning visuals. An open world environment really adds to the game and is a needed improvement from DA2's repetitive and claustrophobic "Free Marches." The animations are fluid and well crafted, but the interface is a little cluttered and indirect.

The only thing Dragon Age has ever required from its players is patience; the reward being an utterly fulfilling and replayable story. This seems to be something many of these naysayer "reviewers" lack and thusly pan a good game as broken and unplayable.

Is it worth the money? For me, yes. I am willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt. For everybody else, the only thing these bad reviews are doing well is putting an excellent game in the bargain bin within six months. I just couldn't wait that long. :)

    1. Graphics.

I play on everything maxed up and graphics range from amazing to very good, strangely, some environments are much better then others. Animations are fluid and good, except can appear a bit rigid during cutscenes. Overall, in most places graphics are breathtaking, and in a great open world - it is just epic.

    2. Story

In fact, this is the main aspect of any game for me. Gameplay, graphics, music - yes they are all important but the thing that keeps pushing me to play is the story. Now here, it does not disappoint - as expected from Bioware, It starts a little full on and abrupt, but quickly engages you into it, pushes you to make decisions and really invest in whats going on. Beginning lacks any cutscenes, and it is great as you make your own cutscenes through playing! Story and setting are really well crafted Yes, it lacks deep moral dillemas of Witcher 2, but here you have four races to choose from and three classes too! And these decisions affect not only the gameplay, but story, NPC reactions and your progression. Story quickly develops and really opens up the more you play. Everything has its reasons, and it all feels epic and the scope is epic too - think LoTR. You never find yourself thinking, 'Whats a point of this?' or 'What am I supposed to do next?'. I dont want to spoil the story for you but trust me, its epic! And you characters, where do I even start? You can chat with them after every mission. they always have something to say or comment on what you have been doing, they chat during the adventures and seem to have an opinion on everything. You can make friends and enemies here , so be careful. Also, unlike previous games and Mass Effect series, here if you play as a mage, you feel as a mage! Or a rogue, or a templar! And people see you like you are.

    3. Gameplay

Now this is important in the game, right? Right. PC controls are a bit tricky and hard to get used to, however, after tweaking them a bit - make A and D buttins do strafe as in action game, and move the view with your mouse buttons(also swap left and right buttons, makes way more sense and can be done in options), you can then play similar to how you would in say, Witcher 2. When you start the game, it looks easy and not complex at all. However, as you level up you find some things the game does different from others: you dont have to 'waste' skill points just to get to some abilities you would actually use, here every ability is useful from the start, and you feel good using them. But what really surprised me, every ability or spell has its own place until the very end! They dont replace each other as in other games, and I love it for that! Say, lighting bolt does moderate damage to one enemy, and paralyses him, preventing from attacks or casting spells, mid animation if you can time it right! But Immolate, in fire school, panicks enemies instead, and other fire spell you get, does heavy AoE damage but lack crowd control effect. Its highly tactical, and every active ability also has an upgrade.. What is more, passives here are not just stat boosts - how about surrounding yourself with electrical energy while casting spells?

On top of that, you also have cross class combos! Hitting paralysed enemy with melee ability results in arcs of energy stunning everyone! Then, enemies have resistances and weaknesses you can see in tactical camera( which is btw really useful in difficult battles). Guess what? You also have specializations, 3 per class, but to do them you have to complete a quest too, and then reactions of everyone around you changes according to your spec! (hint, people hate necromancers:) ) And there are also ultimate 'focus' abilities too! And did I mention it has crafting? Weapon and armor mods? Selection of mounts to ride? Your keep customization? Potion making? And many, many side quests to do? And quests only involving the dialogue and your wits? But what about whole inquisition stuff?! You have a large map to plan your next move, you send your advisors to deal with threats(think who you send), you gain 'influence' and 'power' and then use it to move plot forward. You also gain strategic 'perks', you can choose what you like - open up new dialogue options relating to arcane knowledge or let you rogues open locked chests? Its amazing what can you do here, and the game continues to amaze you as you play, opening up more and more options for you! Lore is very deep, and music is astounding! (there are songs, too, a-la Hobbit movie).

I can just continue going on and on how this is the best game ever made, and how even for people who never got into other Dragon Age games this is a must play, but word limit. Just buy the game, you will not regret. Now go, Inquisitor, and bring light!(or be an **** you choose)

    I love DAO.

But Dragon age 2 is a huge disappointment.

This one, I even wanted refund (this is the first time in my life I wanted to refund a game I purchased) but obviously it is non-refundable. It is not like DAO at all. It is kind of like skyrim, but far worse.

What is EA thinking these days?

DA:O was mainly one big mainquest walkthrough, with fewer sidequests if you bothered, however, this game is the complete opposite...

It felt more like a boring action adventure game than a proper RPG, nothing had dept in this game.

It's simply a deceptive way to make a short game (yes the main story line really isn't that long) seem longer because you have to do so many boring repetitive tasks to get there and then the payoff, as I said, is less than the previous two games.

Decision making was somewhat frustrating as well since there is no way to gage where your companions stand in their opinion of you. Several times you may feel forced to make decisions based upon what your companions will agree with rather than what you really want to do. That along with being forced to do all the fetch quests makes the game seem less like a game and more like a jail sentence. Some games are so good you can't put them down...others you're just thankful they can be turned off...this is one of the later.

Grabbing loot or targeting: please move with mouse or keys to a very specific area within range of the item you are trying to grab. yes, you will spend minutes running around a hill trying to pick up elf root. Then inventory interface. Ah, the old days, when a boxy square of squares could show you instantly what you have.

Not this time. You will have set of symbols, you will click one of them, then you will drag down a list. then, and only then will you see - and only a few items at a time, what you have. The comparisons of similar weapons is nice, but I want to do this in a few clicks. I am not interested in faffing around with this.

Do developers need to justify their existence by making it more complicated than it needs to be? I've played so many of these games for so long, that repetitive strain is now an painful reality. It limits the amount of time I can play games now. I resent every extra click, every extra key that isn't needed, and folks, this is by far the very worst game I have played for this. It is, literally wasting my time.

It is pretty, but it is empty. It is not open world, it is badly written, the dialogue is random. I was delighted to see Varric, hoping for some wit, at least. But no.

Might be ok for non pc players who want good graphics and fun without gum, but heh, some of us wanted what Origins had. Plot, characters, wit, fun, and an interface that didn't make your hand hurt after a few hours of use.

Should really come with a health warning. Will ruin hand, will bore to tears. Will crush with disappointment.

Really would not have preordered this, but at least I have learnt something. Won't be doing it again.

I think every class has a large number of useless or underpowered talents. Also building your character is somewhat limited compared to 1 and 2. Almost all ability points come from gear. Oh... and the character creator has TERRIBLE hair options, no size and weight feature. The romance options for straight male RPGers are limited and very very weak choices. In fact they are so weak, you may want to go celibate or romance the funny mage.

The positives... Its a HUGE game with some pretty interested characters and an interesting story. The graphics are very good, the gameplay is good, the crafting is good, tons of quests and the changing atmospheres are very nice (dessert, snow, coast and forest). I like all the different elements that they added (multiplayer, updated crafting, the war room, influence perks). The dragon fights can be loooong epic battles.

In the end, the pros outweigh the slight cons. While the cons might outnumber the pros, the pros are much stronger reasons to play rather than the cons keeping someone away.

12 Hours in, I feel this game is the best Dragon Age yet. The controls are sometimes clunky, and I notice the odd software fault, but in general this game is deserving of a good review as these things will be ironed out soon enough.

Even that 'tutorial' part makes the game seem like able but soon as you get into real game play the hype magic wears of and then you feel used...

Yes the UI and control scheme suck hard for PC and its obvious exactly what they had in mind when making them. You cant click on stuff at all and worse change of all was to remove high light item button and replace it with some thing that does ping and highlights items around you but range is extremely limited and you don't see letters of stuff that you can loot but just faint light which blends in most background which results in panning camera around like mad monkey just to loot stuff.

Tactic camera is terrible, its focus point is cursor and it always keeps elevation with it which gives you motion sickness from constant zooming around. And it cant pass trough collision which makes it extremely frustrating in doors as it will zoom directly into your char head and you wont see anything.

Over all game it self is too much mmo-ish, bland one dimensional boring side quests while main quests are somewhat more interesting but similar to mass effect ones in terms that you have 2 roads that will reach the same goal. While i mention that Mass Effect you could even say that Dragon age follows Mass Effect footsteps where ME become pure shooter Dragon age will soon become pure button masher.
Still must say that one good thing, that they did was not to slap number 3 on this one but rather named it just Inquisition as its really different game just in same game universe.

It could be said that combat is being held back by its dragon age roots as dependency on NPCs is what makes it frustrating as their AI is poor and combined with lack of customization that DA:O had doesn't help either.

They tried hard to come up with some mixed system but obviously lack of time stop them from polishing it out and final result is that you have game that feels off in many ways.
You can only pick if your NPC will use certain skill, spam it or not use it at all. So playing with friendly fire on(which added more substance to combat as you had to take care about your own aoe) will most likely cause them to kill them self or your whole party.
And game is too easy only some bosses are somewhat harder (unless you play on hard) but in reality it comes more to your level and gear, again that mmo-ish part kicks in.
Playing game on hardest difficulty is somewhat interesting as you actually have to plan and use tactic mode but you will soon get annoyed by its camera, controls and what not.

With all that being said game sure have huge amount of side crap to do, while they failed at quality they sure did make up with quantity only question is can you be bothered enough to see it all.
Combat is hit or miss and there are even some side distractions similar to vistas in assassins creed and load of collectable codex entry.
Sad as it might be even with that all this is one of best Bioware RPGs as of late and that is just telling how low the company has fallen.

I still give it 6/10 as its not bad game just not as good as some claim it to be.

So there are only 2 possible outcomes: you will either love the game or hate it with passion.
If you liked more DA2 coz it was more flashy and forgiving(casual even) then its quite possible to like this one as well.
But if you liked DA:O for its combat, quest diversity and the fact that it was first modern RPG that managed to preserve that crpg feeling then you will hate this one with passion.

It seems like they tried to combine the mechanics of a fps (controls), old MMO (stand and fight) and Skyrim (3de person view). This mix doesn’t work so well on a PC. The combat controls are like an fps, without the mobility. Right click to look and left click to attack, WASD to move. Works on paper, terrible in practice. There is no movement when you are executing an attack, you can’t block or dodge very well. There are skills to block and dodge. But you can only block 1 attack, the follow ups will hit you. Dodging or combat role is weird, but I guess that takes some getting used to. So basically you stand and fight most of the time. It fails to give you de necessary mechanics of an “old” MMO to be able to manage agro and sustain your frontline tank/s. So what do you get? Fighting is just very chaotic. Your range fighters will snatch agro from the tanks real fast. You’ll be taunting and battle crying as soon as that is off cool down. Hope for range to survive and oh don’t forget to spam pots, because you don't have a healer. Sounds like a MMO party. For better or worse.

    Story/look and feel:
This game looks like Elder scrolls oblivion. Looks a lot like an "ok" Elder scroll game. Minus the moding, races, freedom of movement. It's not an open world like Skyrim, it just has big areas, like you would find in an MMO. Not a good or bad thing IMO. With so much to do, it's good that areas are split up. The story, well, haven’t gotten that far, so I’m not going to disregard it for now. But so far it’s very familiar, say, just like Elder scrolls oblivion, mixed with Mass Effect 3. Closing rifts, find allies for the final big assault. Originality aside, this might not be a bad thing. Lots and lots of filler like Skyrim or any MMO. Get this, got to this location, collect this, kill 10 of this, find 5 of this. Which could be a good or bad thing. At least it's not as obnoxious as the Far Cry fillers.

    Characters:
NPC's look good, most of them anyway. But your character (even the presets) got hit with the ugly stick. And the bigger you are, the bigger the stick. I was so happy I could play a Qunari. But… you look… I don't know? Even after hours of customization I had to go with the presets with some minor tweaks. Why must they shine like they are covered in sweat? The reuse of Mass Effect facial animations is also very apparent. I don’t know why, but my female Qunari really reminds me of Shepard sometimes. Male Shepard. Romance is a big thing is these games, but I don't think I'll romance anybody on my first run. Solas seemed like the right choice, but he's race locked, so no go. That's very disappointing. Overall I do like the male and female NPC’s, clothing is also believable, given their background.

    Performance/bugs:
In game gameplay is good, graphics look nice, I’m getting a good frame rate. The cut scenes on the other hand are bad. Everything slows down, gets choppy, stutters. It take so much a way from the experience. Some unexplained crashes, when interacting with a vendors table of all things. This is also the first game that takes 100% of my CPU on startup and 35 to 50% after that, which is a good thing because most games just us 10 to 25%. Finally a mutli-threaded RPG. There's also this weird bug, where you can't select dialogue options or click locations on the war map with the mouse. You have to use the fallback controls, numbers and arrow keys.

Giving it a 7 for now, up from 6. I don’t know how the “professional” reviews can rate it so high.

PS: Tapestry is a nice thing. I could recall almost all the choices I made in DA:O. And almost none of DA:2. Goes to show how memorable the games are. Luckily the saved game data for DA:2 was still available.…

The story & cast of characters is the real strong points in Inquisition, while Varric was the stand out character from DA2 he seems the most bland here, they did a great job with the list of companions this time around. While the game allows you to continue playing after the main story line is completed i feel far more compelled to start over with a new party set up then run around the various maps completing mundane side quests and collecting shards. The shards are blatant and unnecessary filler, the game would genuinely be better off without this lazy, generic level design. Bioware usually set the standard, its a real shame to see them follow it here.IF shard collection was to be removed tomorrow then i cant imagine a single complaint would be made or a single tear would be shed. Now that i'm finished the main story i want to start over and use a different party set-up rather than continue and search for mosaic pieces and shards. The voice acting is top notch, the music and sound effects all do deliver as well. Dragon fights feel epic but can be disorienting if you are controlling a melee character, its very easy to lose yourself under a wing or the dragons head. The environments are visually incredible and the character creator is very detailed. If i could offer one criticism is the meagre amount of hair choice's but otherwise its fantastic. Its hard to say much more without risking spoilers but overall this is a great RPG that has a few less that desirable traits (camera controls for one) that stop it from knocking Origins of its perch from best in the series. It has a few bugs, nothing game breaking that i discovered but these should be remedied in upcoming patches. Overall i recommend it, you will find yourself frustrated at times but it has so much going for it you ill overlook these imperfections. Expand

You can rebind keyboard controls but there seems to be some issue rebinding mouse actions – hopefully this can be patched.

    • There are a number of bugs but I haven’t found anything game breaking and most are annoying more than anything else. For me the game plays very stably and hasn’t crashed once.

    • On the downside the tactical camera mode isn’t well thought out and doesn’t really work; I’ve taken to playing in the normal mode and pausing if I want to direct party members rather than using tac.

The game is very good but sometimes it feels repetitive and a bit boring. Though my decisions affected the world around me, I usually had a sense of emptiness, like interactions are a bit lacking at times (Not counting companions which are awesome). I missed random encounters, something that happened a lot in Skyrim and Wasteland/Fallout games. It feels like it’s missing a touch of comedy. I wish there were interactions that were not voiced over (like Skyrim) so developers could add more content to these huge maps. Having to run through empty land to get to my quest does not justify having a huge map. There is a lot of content, not arguing there, but if maps were smaller, they could still squeeze all the content they added and maybe I wouldn’t have enough time to get bored while playing it.

    Pros
1 - Maps are huge and there's a lot to see
2 - Main and side stories are good (not awesome)
3 - Some side quests are fun
4 - Graphics are beautiful on PC (ultra)
    5 - Tons of content
6 - Some skills are fun to use
7 - Character creation is good (Excluding hairs)

I don't understand why people are giving this game such a bad review. I will say if you don't like to read lore or aren't just general interested in the world surrounding the characters then this game won't be for you. If you're the type of person that just wants to blow through the game then you aren't going to like it. I will say if you don't like to read lore or aren't just general interested in the world surrounding the characters then this game won't be for you. If you're the type of person that just wants to blow through the game then you aren't going to like it. There is a lot of reading in this game and you'll have to do it to get the most out of it.

Now with that being said the world is huge and for $60.00 you get more for your money than with any other game currently on the market and not only that the short games out there charge you even more money for their DLC on top of the $60.00.

The graphics are amazing and if you aren't sure if your PC can handle them then ask someone who would know. This game requires a quad-core CPU to run, yes CPU, not just a good video card (GPU). This game will not run on an intel i3. So before going to buy this game make sure you know your PC specs and its limitations. Your lack of PC knowledge is no excuse to give a game a low score because it keeps crashing due to your PC which seems to be an issue with many people. Also, if you don't know what graphic settings you should play on or what the options are in the menu then you should look it up for what each one does and what will be the most demanding on your system. Now, majority of the computers out there will not be able to run 4xMSAA. If you are having issues running your game make sure that it's either at 2x or turned off... just a suggestion.

Now, as for the lore and story. It's a very rich game with detail and as I said before if you don't like to read then don't bother with the game. If you're the type of person who gives CoD a 10 then you won't like this game. People compare this game to Skyrim when they shouldn't as they are two completely different games.

The combat takes some getting use to and if you aren't a complete fool then you'll make do and you'll get by just fine and not having "auto-attack" isn't the end of the world and if people are that lazy then I can only imagine their lifestyle. This game doesn't give a person instant gratification by spoon feeding them lore... you need to look for it. Explore, read, and pay attention.

Lastly, people who are saying it's a single player MMORPG. No, it's not. If that was the case then people can say Skyrim was the same thing when you had quests to send you to a location to kill, steal, or complete some other objective. That is what makes an RPG in general. You complete quests. You explore and learn the about the world.

Also the crafting system is easy to figure out and also fun at the same time when you can make up different types of armor and weapons with different stats to suit your play style. I have noticed that many of the negative reviews were from people who also gave Mass Effect a terrible score while others gave CoD a 10.

Listen, if you like fast action and just want the story ASAP and the lore spoon fed to you then this game isn't for you. Being lazy in this game and trying to rush through it will definitely leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

Oh and one more thought. I run the game just fine on my system with a fx-8320 OC'd to 4.2GHz with a R9 270x that is also OC'D and the the settings I use is:

Mesh, Tessellation, Texture, Terrain, Water, Effects = All on Ultra

Shadows, Vegetation, Post-Process Quality = Low

    Ambient Occlusion = SSAO

Post-Process Anti-Aliasing = Low... However, I can play it on Med or High with a 3-8 fps loss and then I'd be around 40 fps.

    Multisample Anti-Aliasing = 2xMSAA.

    Hope this review helps.

The choices you have made in the previous 2 Dragon Age games come into effect in nice ways.
Morrigan turning up with the old god child for example.
Controls are a little fiddly and the frame rate on my system tends to bounce around at times not to mention the horrible inventory screen where you can sort between weapon types but not ascend/descend DPS/Armor rating which is just weird why they left that out?
But overall very much enjoying my experience and cant wait to see how it ends.

By helping people, resolving conflicts, and spreading word of the Inquisition, you earn power and influence that you can use to further strengthen your cause. Inquisition does as good of a job setting up the world and your place in it as Dragon Age: Origins did - if not better. Your hand is extended through the use of your advisors and the war table. They will perform side missions while you play and provide you with additional rewards based on your decisions.

Combat abilities are incredibly satisfying to use. That being said, the AI and tactical camera leave much to be desired. Taking these features directly from Origins or Dragon Age 2 would have been preferred over the current system. BioWare has mentioned patches coming or the Tactical view on PC. There have also been some technical issues with the game, although none have detracted from my personal enjoyment of the title.

Thedas feels like a truly massive world for the first time, and you will lead it into the future your way.

In short - camera, controls, combat system, inventory and UI generally suck so much, that it takes the whole fun away from it. It's clunky, annoying, etc., etc.

If I wanted PS4 game/controls, I'd buy the PS4 version. I regret the money I've put in this. In this state, it's unplayable for me, because it's a row of annoying mouse clicking/camera changing horror, which drives me mad.

The main reason probably to divert the attention from the fact that the actual story that has been the strongest point of the company so far is short, badly paced, and fails to engage the player apart from a few well crafted turning points.
The new characters/companions are just a shadow of the old glory of character building they did, they are mostly as uninteresting (including the inquisitor) as the open world they present itself.

The biggest fault of the game is that unlike previous bioware games that were a good paced action/adventure/rpg mix with very strong focus on the story, this tries to break the story down to fragments to allow "exploration" as filler activities. This alone completely breaks any immersion you might have or want to have in the main storyline, normally you would always want to continue a storyline if it was fast paced enough instead of doing boring fetch quests in the middle.
The game has 3 types of quests:
    - unique for area (usually very few)
    - go somewhere and kill things/place things there
    - take something you found somewhere to hand in to nameless generic npcs...

It also suffers from awful console-like controls not just in the actual gameplay/action, but also in any related activities like crafting or inventory control which are an awful UX experience for a pc player

They HAVE dumbed down the tactical system, but the AI has been improved so you don't need it as much as in Origins or DA2. I've also experienced a few crashes and bugs, but the game Auto-saves often enough I've never been frustrated.

In my Opinion it is only a better version of DA2. My main criticism is the tactical view. Yes its back, but bad to handle. The area you could see in DAO with the tactical view was larger and better to handle. It feels like an better action game with a little bit tactic. It seems also that more and more games are designed more for xbox and so on.... I miss the feeling of DAO.

If you don't mind doing searching for fixes, it will take you 1-2 hours to figure out how to get the game working properly. For a AAA title, you should NOT have to do that to play the game. There also might be a patch or at least a Nexxus Mod patch to fix the horrible Tactical Combat.

    CONS: -3 pts
-0.5pt The game has a problem where you switch out of full screen to windowed mode and you have blacksreen for 6 secs during combat. You will most likely have to run a C++ fix, Dirext X fix and make sure your drivers are updated. By doing all three of those fixes, the switching of screen stops.
-1pt Page File issues. The more zones you travel through the more page file space the game eats. WIndows auto-page file size will NOT work. I had to go in and manual set a very high number to keep the game running. If you are playing the game with a high end system and your frames keep going lower and lower after playing for a while, this is your problem.
-0.5pt Combat. There is a lot of potential for combat, but it is NOT fleshed out. The tactical screen is screwed up beyond repair. When you go to tactical combat you cannot zoom out to see all of your foes. You can really only use tactical combat for foes immediately next to you. Tactical is completely screwed up and optimized for console, it is the WORST feature of the game.
-0.5 pt Companion AI is horrible compared to other Bioware RPG titles. You can't set a ranged character to always fight at ranged. You can't set a fallback behaviors. So if you have a mixed rogue with daggers and bow, if you want them to be ranged, you have to remove all mele skills. The whole system is incredibly bad.
-0.5pt Healing is based on potions and wards. The potions are shared between the party and you have a hard limit on them. It was a horrible decision. However, seeing as how bad the companion AI is, even if they put healing in the game, it probably would have a mess

    PROS:
2pts The story line is probably one of the better in the series. It can be engaging and the companion characters are well fleshed out as its the quest lines.
2pts: The locations/graphics are the best in the series, generally its a good looking game. The locations are well designed.
1pt Crafting system is well designed as is the gathering. The system is close to a MMORPG level in optimization.
1pt Base Customization is set up to where you can change large amounts of the decor of the base often times with loot that you acquired
1pt Limited story carry over. They would have gotten 3 pts from IF they actually carried over all of your decisions in the game. The major game decisions carried over, however the medium to low choices never showed up. Mind you, I used the Keep to rebuild my story line because my original character from DAO is long gone. So that part could be wrong. I remember helping Dagna, but there is no choice in the Keep to state if you did or did not help Dagna.

As a whole, I didn't like the game. I'm a big fan of the Dragon Age series, and this felt like the worst of the games, even including as a separate product the Awakening expansion for Origins.
Here are the positive things about Inquisition:
Technically speaking the developers delivered on what they promised for the environments. They are big, they are gorgeous, they are never reused, and there's no but in this sentence. The story line is interesting. The cast of characters is great - I didn't like only one of the companions. The companion quests were awesome as a whole, there were some profoundly funny and touching moments. There's a lot of reactivity towards player decisions and your class/race/gender specifics. The proverbial gem in the game, at least for me, were the decisions. In the past games, decisions could be placed on a scale of "good", "neutral", and "bad" and you just picked whichever fit your character better. I'm glad to say that here every decision you make follows an argumented logic that makes it gray. There isn't a wrong or right decision, there are just decisions you believe in, stripped of moral.
    The negative:
I played on PC and controls are a wreck, as well as some technical aspects of the game. The developers supposedly confirmed months ago that the leading platform for the game is PC. I honestly don't believe that. The controls themselves shout console louder than any PR. The tactical camera mode is to put it mildly, a joke. Its viewing angles are unusable - environments don't become transparent when you go over them, meaning you can be stuck looking at a tree while your party fights, and you can't select more than 1 character even in this mode. I said I won't bash the game too much and to retain some measure of neutral tone I will say this - you won't understand how annoying PC controls are, until you try it out.
The AI is bad and incosistent, gameplay itself is button mashing at its "finest" since every enemy in the game has more HP than before, so every battle takes longer.
Don't be surprised. Bioware told you the game will be tactical, but there's nothing tactical about this game. As an example, I'll tell you about one of the dragon battles that were supposed to be a highlight in the game. The dragon lay in something resembling a pond. My party attacked it from up close. From then on the battle proceeded in the following way: we were next to the dragon, with me controlling my main character and literally holding 1 key, and occasionally casting a barrier spell that basically gives you temporary HP. We were standing in one place, and the dragon was standing in one place. The dragon hit us with a paw and from time to time by breathed fire, and we hit the dragon with weapons. The dragon's HP was 200K. By using my specialization's ability, my weapon was doing 300 damage on each attack. Does this paint the picture enough?
From time to time the dragon decided to mix things up and fly. That was maybe once every 5 minutes. He flew away and used one area of effect spell on us from above, then landed, and we repeated the process until it was dead, which took maybe 15-20 minutes.
This is it. This basically represents every battle in the game. Maybe I missed some things, like the dragon hopping about and me having to chase it, but the core is the same for every battle.
As shocking as it may sound, there are no actual side quests in the game. Maybe 15 of every 20 quests are taken by you finding a note that says go to X place and kill the guys there. No cutscene, nothing you can immerse yourself in, maybe if you're lucky you get a one liner from your party a la "They deserved it!" I've never experienced such emptiness in a Bioware game before. The supposed inspiration for the game was Skyrim, but it seems to me this game resembles more a single player MMORPG. There's a lot of grinding with little context , leveling up is slow, and the more immersive story is lost between long and bland intervals of doing chores you can't care about.
Party banter... It seems instead of funny, the writers decided to emphasize on conflict. This resulted in the party banter being bickering between characters all the time. By the 10th time I was groaning.
Then there's the cutscenes. I don't know what to say. On my i74790K, GTX970, 16 GB 2400 mhz Ram configuration cutscenes were choppy, laggy, with screen tearing. And that's on the options the game proposed to me.
To conclude it all, I can live with the laggy cutscenes, boring combat, even the lack of side quests. What ruined the game for me is what feels like an extremely short storyline. If you take away sidequests it stands to reason you'd get a bigger main quest.
    But you don't.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved Dragon Age: Origins because of the story as well as the game play and many user customization options. I wasn't overly fond of the simplification of the fight menu In Dragon Age II (nor the lack of variation in graphics). In Dragon Age: Inquisition the fight menu is still rather simple, and the option to distribute attribute points has been removed. That's why I'm not giving it 10 points, because otherwise I rather like Dragon Age: Inquisiton. The atmosphere, the amazing graphics, the wonderful music and the many missions are spot on. I did need to adjust my graphics settings from Medium to High to enjoy the graphics fully and adjust the keyboard controls since I'm used to the mouse functions (which I only use for zooming in and out in Dragon Age Inquisiton, can't play with the mouse at all in this version). I like that you need to place one of the controlled characters on a fallen group member and hold down the F key untill the person is fully revived. It adds an extra edge to the fights. I also like that you can discover different items when using the V key and investigating the areas. Having only played 35 hours thus far, I can honestly say I have enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition so far. Well worth the wait in my opinion. Expand

Sadly this option has gone AWOL since Knights of the Old Republic.

The biggest problem though is that it is a button masher. Button mashers are all the same. WAY TOO EASY!!!!!!!!!! Hit the X about ten times. Then hit the Y for the finishing move. Battle is over in about 2.5 seconds. They only take about 9 hours to finish. To be fair I did hear it takes 20 hours to beat Inquisition. Dialogue and cut scenes mean that gaming time is closer to 15 than 20. I recently replayed Origins and Dragon Age 2 thinking I could have part of my story imported. ( Yes, I do realize it was all in vain.) Dragon Age 2 takes about 22 - 25 hours while skipping most of the dialogue and cut scenes. Origins takes about 28 -35 hours. In my opinion we are going in the wrong direction.

Origin used to be an excellent game company. Now it's just a name for EA's download client. EA has wrecked more game franchises, and developer companies than I have fingers. Bioware, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age are not the first and won't be the last. EA's goal is not to make an excellent game that everyone loves. It's to make it to the Holiday rush. Is there a game franchise out there that you love? Pray to God that EA does not buy the developer.

After a few solid hours of gameplay the game just plateaued for some time and it took some old school RPG grinding techniques to get through it, but once that all passed it was like opening an oyster and finding a pearl inside.

Interesting characters and a seamless flow of questing brought to life the rich lore and the humongous world of Thedas. When looking at the game with a critical eye different things started to feel quite bland and unnecessary when it came to enjoying Dragon Age. The starting area, The Hinterlands, starts out great when learning abilities and the basic tutorial, but the hand holding becomes tiresome and I found myself wanting more from an open world title.

I kept coming back to the question “is this actually an open world?”.

In any open world game you are punished for being too reckless or… stupid, I found that Dragon Age: Inquisition was more linear than I would have hoped. At the game launch, I was only able to play through the first area, acquiring a horse and fast travel markers; at home I was disappointed due to the fact that everything was split into sections which took away from the “open world” gameplay.

When thinking back on how this game made me feel and the experiences I had with the title, nothing impressed me more than the casting of the characters. The voice acting is mostly fantastic; pretty much every character has a great script and story behind them. Meeting a new party member comes about with some nice story and different dialogue options that add to the encounter. I found myself just wasting time with inquisition questions just to hear the voice acting at work and I don’t regret one second of that. When adventuring out in the wild, your party members will have conversations with one another which have been scripted for different character interactions. I usually kept the party members who had the most interesting dialogue sequences.

The war room was another highlight when discussing the unique RPG style of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Selecting council members to participate in the questing and exploring kept the game more interesting and dynamic. Missions that council members could go on sometimes ended in new areas becoming accessible for questing, levelling up and generating “power points”, Power points is what allows you to send council members on missions to gather information and unlock areas. Although the war room is a good addition to the game I was left feeling like more could have been done with it. Something more on the lines of a chess-like mini game or dialogue choices that could fail missions instead of knowing you will succeed every time would make it less of a chore.

It is clear that BioWare made this game, from the dialogue options to the story direction, Dragon Age: Inquisition has all the typical BioWare trademarks. Being able to have sex, say anything insulting you’d like and be as uncharacteristically nice for a change, it's all in there.

The lore of Dragon Age is great, Chantry, the Maker, Templars and Mages, and most importantly demons and dragons. For most players, they will not discover a dragon until 10 hours plus in the game because the game is just that pack of dialogue and hand holding. For new players this can be seen as a ward against Dragon Age and it does not try and get the new player involved which is a shame to say the least.

Rushing through the game doesn't help either. The game doesn’t want you to be the next Completionist but it wants you to explore every part of the map for you to get the most out of Dragon Age.

I wish there was more action and information about the happenings of Thedas in the first few hours, it would have been that push I needed to not sleep at all is the true sign of a great game. I like being a complete wreck when going to work in the morning with tales of triumph and defeat ultimately confuse coworkers.

The talent tree system is a little lack lacklustre. The three classes; rogue, mage and warrior all have pretty stock standard specialized abilities with one or two good ones thrown in for the fun factor. I feel as if a combat system built around an average talent tree is not good enough for a game that consists of over 100 hours of gameplay. Getting bored with the abilities of three classes shouldn't really happen in a game like Dragon Age: inquisition but it happens now and again.

Putting the player into a world of magic and mystical lands, Dragon Age: Inquisition is a fantastic game to anyone who is dedicated enough to put in the endless amount of time and effort required. Venture forth, into Thedas where adventure, glory and an inquisition to rival all inquisitions will begin.

The combat does not feel meaningful, nor do the choices. I feel nothing for any of my companions, and find myself skipping through the dialogue, feeling safe I am missing nothing important. I felt compelled to create an account and write my first review just because how disappointed I was at this game...

Most BW fans play BW games for the story and companions, gameplay has never been their greatest strengths. The gameplays were interesting, but 'niche,' like DAO and felt like chess or turn-based in a way. And that was okay! In fact great! But in this iteration, (at least playing as a mage, supposedly the 'most tactical' class) gameplay is instead relegated to face-planting on the keyboard as fast as possible. After playing for ~45 hours, I realized I've not use the tactical camera once besides moving my archer (Sera), because the AI is so inanely bad your squishy DPS will just stand there face-tanking damage and waste potions! They will NOT use their 'escapes' like back-jump and stealth, because the AI use them for 'damage' and 'opener' respectively. WTF! No, all you ever do is hold the mouse button (no AA), and spam your cooldowns...the only slight 'tactical area of gameplay' is just deciding when to use your barrier...

Another thing about the gameplay. The potion cap and no healing was put in to create 'artificial filler' to increase game completion time because you would almost always have to teleport back to camp after a tough encounter and completely backtrack to where you were. Meet a troll? Teleport back and back track after. Meet a Red Templar Behemoth? Teleport back and back track after. And not to mention farking respawning enemies every 5 minutes!! I've literally loaded a game and landed right on top of a group of enemies..More fking filler...

Another thing about gameplay, it is EXTREMELY easy to 'cheese' the AI. Say if you're down to one person, just run away; the enemy will chase for a bit but they have invisible walls they will never cross and they don't regenerate health. So just run away way until the game exits combat mode, have your team revive, barrier, and attack until dead; repeat if necessary. This is not the case in DAO where enemies (and you) would regen HP completely, while any downed companions will have injuries, causing a disadvantage. Also unlike DAO, attacks don't register unless it 'connects' to the character model, meaning you can just jump around and cheese like in fking Arkham Asylum! In Dragon Age! Far from 'as promised similar to' DAO indeed...Feel like an MMO (WoW) without other humans, if you can imagine that...

Also, if an encounter gives you trouble go easy mode and just pick knight enchanter, (unlimited) repec all points to KE, cast barrier, hold sword cast. You'll solo the game on nightmare no problem.

Now let's get to what BW does best. The story and NPC interactions! Basically the story and atmosphere sucked donkey dongs, like big throbbing donkey dongs...No climax, no 'gravity', no sense of 'dread' such as in DAO. Terrible atmosphere and no investment. Remember how in the first DA the world and weather was bleak and you can feel the hopelessness and the menace of the Darkspawn and demons? How it made you feel it was going to be a long, hard, uphill battle but in the end a glorious crusade to save the world proper of a true dark fantasy game? Well, hope you hated that feeling since there's none of that here. Sunny days except for maybe 3 areas, closing green jello floating in the air. That's your atmosphere. Also, I did not give a single fk about any of the companions. The banter count is low, maybe once per 2 hours?! There are no interesting back stories like in DAO, like how Alistar was the king's illegitimate son and he was actually a good leader. Or how Leliana was an assassin prior to her repentance. Or how Morrigan was just a vessel for her mother's immortality. Nope, none of that here, you get run of the mill Grey Warden who live in solitude in the woods, mage with grudge against his former teacher, Qunari warrior, etc...You also cannot talk unless at the keep! WTF!

And the ending! OMFG was that abrupt! It will disappoint I GUAREEN-FKING-TEE it! Without the fetch filler quest and 'power' (another artificial filler), you can complete the game in 15 hours. On hard! 15 hours of 'real gameplay and story' bloated to ~40. Fking GG.

Basically BW fked it up, severely bad. Fk'd the story/NPCs, fk'd the atmosphere, and fk'd the gameplay/AI.

Give it a 1 out of 10 because Morrigan and Lelianna were actually pretty hot in game as opposed to the art, about the only thing worth the triple A budget lmao. Morrigan's face look the most developed out of all in the game, her lips actually move realistically and you can ACTUALLY tell what her emotions are!! If I wasn't a diehard DAO fan I would have refunded after 20 minutes in the Hinterlands. I will be more wary of 'critic reviews' of EA games and all games next time!

I've droned on long enough. Vote with your wallet!

BioWare is dead. Thanks EA...I hope one day EA just sells all the IP to Larian Studios, an indie, or whatever and close down this shameful reversal of the once great development studio.

soundtrack is your typical fantasy lord of the rings kind of thing.
combat was spam the button to win. so nothing special there.

all and all, a fairly mediocre RPG.

but that's not why i think many people are giving this 0/10
lets start off by looking at bioware's recent games.
dragon age 2: more linear than FF13
the old republic: a barely passable vanilla MMO
mass effect 3: a complete **** of poorly programmed enemy AI, laughable writing, rancid and almost non existent RPG elements, tact on multiplayer and an outright disgusting day one DLC which not only expands a malnourished team roster, but adds in a character that should have been in the **** game!
not to mention the incomplete ending that needed fan partition's to **** complete.

bioware has a reputation for being a hollow shell of what it was, especially now that everyone from the golden days has now abandoned ship.
and before the obligatory bioware defence force shows up, armed with wafer thin arguments like "EA FORCED 'EM". bioware is the developer, as in they make the game and are in charge of what goes in to the game, or as in biowares case, what doesn't. don't get me wrong EA are **** but it was bioware who added needless multiplayer to mass effect.
it was bioware that made dragon age 2: dungeon deja vu
and it was bioware that thought we were stupid enough not to notice A **** IGN EMPLOYEE IN THE **** GAME!

    tenouda****ten ign

doe's that sound like a company you want to succeed?

after all there money grabbing DLC
    after all the lazy-ass writing
    and after all the bull****.

    bioware does it all again.
the critics are singing its praises (if can you trust them)
the user score is almost green across the board.

but this is still the same bioware that made dragon age 2 electric boogaloo, and mass effect 3; buy now and receive free prothean.

    do they deserve our money?

    I would like to start the review with the pro's of the game;
-It has amazing graphics, I played it on PC, maxed it out and I thought it looked amazing.
-The characters are pretty interesting, personally I only like Blackwall, Dorian and Varric, the rest just weren't my sort of companions if that makes any sense.
-A large amount of the story is rather interesting. (Expanded in cons section)
-The soundtrack is completely amazing, the tavern songs are really well done.

    And now to list some of the cons, keep in mind that some of this relates to PC and may not be a problem on console versions of the game;
-The tactical camera controls are completely and utterly terrible. End Of. There's nothing to say about this, you have to hold both mouse buttons to move the camera.
-Your decisions do not impact the outcome of the game AT ALL, I decided to put this in here as a big point of marketing for this game was 'Your decisions matter', to elaborate on this, no matter what decisions you make your ending will pretty much be the same, the only thing that will change is some extra or less quests and the epilogue narrative.
-Horses are rather terrible, they do not feel very fast and they're more like skyrim horses (going up near vertical cliff sides).
-A lot of the side quests are rather terrible (Note: I am NOT talking about companion quests, I thought those were rather well done), eg. the monotonous gathering of random things (Such as 30-90 different plants to upgrade a part of skyhold)
-The port is rather terribly optimized, it does not do well with SLI set-ups (flickering textures, stuttering cutscenes, which were also locked at 30 fps, otherwise I only managed to get 40-50fps on near max settings with a GTX690).
-The story feels really rushed near the ending, the first half of the story really intrigued me and felt very interesting, but after a certain point (3/4 of the way in~) I felt like the story just lost all meaning and just wanted me to finish playing.

Now that i listed pros and cons I'll try to explain my reasoning behind some of them. Also keep in mind that these are my opinions, although I will try to give a summary at the end without mentioning my personal feelings towards the game. Firstly, Bioware has done something completely new, or at least that is how it feels, DA:I does not feel like DA:O and DA2 did. It is open-world so that is a large part of it but also the huge numbers of pointless quests, none of the companions drew me in like in the other games (Morrigan, Oghren, Leliana, Alistair in DA:O and Isabela, Merill and Varric in DA2). There are some people that are saying this isn't a valid complaint as 'Oh this isn't supposed to be DA:O2, it's DA:I', and while I agree to some extent, this isn't a new IP, this is a sequel to the Dragon Age series, it's supposed to feel like a Dragon Age game. Also, a few of the characters' personalities changed a huge amount from DAO and DA2 to this game. Cassandra suddenly becomes really sensitive to your cause and doesn't seem like the strong 'seeker/commander' (Idk) that she was presented as in DA2, Morrigan becomes all attached (If you romaned her in DA:O) and says things I definitely wouldn't think her saying. And Leliana becomes the heartless spy who 'does all the things noone else will do', coming from her 'religious' and caring personality of DA:O. The choices!, while they do feel important (I couldn't decide what to do when leaving the Fade) and some are heartbreaking, do not matter, no matter what you choose, you still go and kill Corypheus without the help of your army, just your part vs him, it doesn't matter who you rescued or helped in order for them to join the Inquisition, they won't be there to join you in battle. That part really made me feel like all my decisions in the game were pointless, since the only thing they change is the epilogue narrative. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD: If you decide for Hawke to leave the fade with you, he simply leaves to go somewhere for the rest of the game, after trying to decide for 10-15mins on who should stay behind, they leave anyway. Lastly the controls are really weird, the complete removal of auto attacking (you have to hold a button in order to attack, if the enemy runs away, tough luck as you're going to be standing in one spot unless you're holding the forward key) and the terrible tac cam, but after a little while I got used to some of the controls it felt a little better. Lastly I want to mentioned the inability to be a sarcastic **** all the time, there are 'humorous' chat options, but they are nowhere as good as DA2, which made me love Hawke even though I disliked the setting/repetitiveness.

TL;DR I think the game is rather good IF you want to play another skyrim-eque game, it does not have a lot of the elements that made DA:O and DA2 stand out. It has much more issues than good things about

The score is one of the best of any game I've played.

The open world is gorgeous, staggeringly beautiful.

The combat is my only negative, even on hard and expert it's kind of meh. The game is also generally too easy.

The story is great - the main villain is a bit meh, which is a shame (he is no kefka), but the side quests have some great minor villains, the character development in your companions, the potential romance, etc. is all done exceedingly well. Is it as well written as a novel? Absolutely not. But it's well written enough - particularly when you consider the sheer amount of content.

Further, the game changes in really meaningful ways depending on your decisions. At 100 hours in my first playthrough and having spent about 30 in my second making different decisions causes entirely different cutscenes to occur. Like radically. The sheer breadth of the decision trees is mind blowing - you can end up with very different outcomes. It's really staggering.

I never, ever replay games. I binge on a game, beat it once, and move on. The only exception was the Dark Souls series. This is the first time since that that I've wanted to replay a game.

First off I have to say the game isn't terrible, it's not great, but not terrible. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get that far into the game due to game breaking bugs. I'm on my fourth character now due to said bugs. My first character, a Qunari, wasn't able to level up because the Character Record was locked forever after leveling in the prologue. My second attempt, a Dwarf, was stuck inside the area of the first cut scene with the spiders and the glowing lady after the cut scene was done playing, unable to do anything. I tried another Dwarf and it did the exact same thing.

Bugs aside though unfortunately you can tell this is a poorly done console to PC port, the "tactical camera", if you could even call it that, is clunky and weird and obviously made for console controllers and not keyboard and mouse. The tactical aspect of this game, and a big selling point for most PC gamers that bought the previous DA games, is completely swept aside and irrelevant in this game due to poor AI programming and lack of tactic scripting the player was able to due in the previous entries. Bioware has obviously catered to the console and casual players with this entry by getting rid of the need to use your brain and instead just running into groups of enemies and slashing away at them instead of giving every engagement thought and planning. And that's fine for console gamers, but PC gamers 9 times out of 10 are not 12 and want to use our brains to gain the advantage in battle and make the experience of every enemy fulfilling and not seem like your just slashing away at a mindless drone.

The graphics are decent if your rig can handle, if not be prepared for hair that looks like it's wrapped in saran wrap. Also, the cutscenes are locked at 30 fps in-game rendering, why? If they were pre rendered cutscenes it would be a different story, but when your normally getting well above 30 fps and a cutscene kicks in and your all of a sudden shot down to 30 fps it's very noticeable and creates stuttering effects. Why was this decision made? I guess it'll just go down as another corporate mystery that we plebes will never know, just like why Destiny was cut and hacked like a Jeffrey Dahmer victim. Also the UI is not that great, giant buttons overtake the bottom of your screen, and a simplistic mini map that shows no detail at all except for icons and your pointer. And good luck seeing any loot unless your standing right next to it.

But in the end the game has a bunch of shiny things, and unfortunately in todays gaming industry that's all it needs to make money.

The good far outweighs the bad. However, This game does not deserve a perfect score, not does it deserve a 0. My first few hours were, in fact quite terrible. My human male was announced as a female... Not sure what happened there, so i had to make another character. The first thing I really noticed about the game was the glitches, which isn't exactly a good thing as you might imagine. Next, were the controls, tough to get used to, and hardly efficient. The frame rate, is honestly a battle i am still struggling with, (I am using an Alienware 17 Nvidia 770M) I can't run the game on ultra as I am used to, but I can run it on a mixture of high and the former mentioned setting.

With all that out of the way, what the game gets right is unbelievable. Inquisition is an experience I will never forget. i am 50 hours in, and I already am thinking about my next play through. What character will i romance? What class will I pick? What choices will I make? I honestly believe that you could make the same character twice, and experience completely different stories if you desired. The sheer amount of time, effort, as well as love that went into this game, from the developers, is almost unreal. Seriously, this game is massive. Be prepared for quite a lengthy first play through. This game takes major steps in the right directions, yet ultimately due to it's flaws, does not live up to it's full potential. My only hope is that they patch some of the clunky controls, as well as the the frame rate issues that plague this masterpiece. Unfortunately, the reason these become so apparent, is because the rest of the game is so well done. it is a great game, you will get your monies worth. Now, go buy it Champ!

I don't generally care enough to write a review but the video "Dragon Age: Inquisition - Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers" gave me so much hope for this game. Maybe there would finally be a worth successor to Dragon Age: Origins, possibly my favorite game of all time. Alas, the video was a blatant lie!

Starting off with the release bugs, endless loops of party members falling off the edge of the world to die over and over again, forcing you to reload. Party skills being used by the AI at such time you start to wonder if the Nightmare difficulty level only makes your party AI stupider than on other difficulties.

These bugs however, are nothing compared to EVERYTHING related to the tactical camera! First off a bug (which still hasn't been fixed) changing characters actually focuses the view onto that character. This makes every attempt to setup the otherwise horrible tactical camera pointless as it constantly resets.

Oh, yes horrible tactical camera and this isn't even a bug! It's the worst excuse for a tactical tool I've ever seen in a game, you can actually zoom out further when you're in third person mode.

Continuing into the tactical mode, this is where the game designers have outdone themselves compared to even DA:II. You can't queue abilities. Doing things which aren't skills, such as reviving or closing a rift (which you will do quite frequently) can't be done if you select another character during the action.

Actually! It rarely works even then, most of the time you have to switch into the "action mode" and hold down the mouse button being unable to do anything else while waiting for the seconds to pass. Doing this during an intense fight with high level enemies can easily wipe you out.

I say you can be wiped out, but that isn't really true, you can always run away from the fight with your last conscious character, your party will follow you by falling from the sky once their unconscious bodies have been left too far behind. Following this they will regain consciousness and you can generally heal up and return to the already weakened rift/enemy group.

Mob AI! Forgot this gem, if you just make your characters hold their ground, you can kill most melee enemies from a distance by just spamming your auto-attack from afar as they will not rush at you nor take cover. Not always true, but often enough for it to become annoying.

Moving on to the new healing system, it's not horrible after you get into it, but it does make playing the game on Nightmare rather tedious. Not often do you get through an encounter without losing some health. By making sure the only way you can heal is via the dumbed-down potion system, you are constantly forced back to the main camp to refill and then walk an empty path for minutes at a time.

Made for PC Gamers... Returning to this straight out lie, this is the worst PC port since Skyrim. Gone is the walk by clicking option, looting now forces you to painstakingly walk up to within a step of the loot, that is if you don't accidentally attack instead of loot. I swear I've spent 2 hours of my 30 hours in the game trying to get to the point where I can get at my loot.

Again returning to the tactical camera, would you like to interact with that rift? "Yes I would, very much so, I close rift at least a few times per hour." Well you CAN'T! Ok, you can but fidgeting around with the camera so that it looks up on the rift takes a minute and isn't possible it the ground around you is flat.

With that, let's return to the AI, I forgot to mention the way it moves while you're not giving it orders, not that you'll be giving it orders anymore a few hours in. Since it won't do what you tell it to anyway. What it will do, is suicide its way through every encounter. Armed with a crossbow, bow or staff? Why not head straight into melee range and get one-shot by this giant boss?

Getting to the good, which I will not be adding any points for, simple reason being, the main focus of the game, the combat, is awful beyond reckoning. The story is amazing, the companions are incredibly interesting and customization and crafting are a grindfest yet fun. It also looks pretty good.

If you're going to buy it, buy it for a console, play it on normal and only ever use action mode. If you can enjoy the combat that way, great, I'm sure you'll give this game a 10/10.

"Dragon Age: Inquisition - Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers" I hope they patch the game to such an extent that this actually becomes true. No one would be happier than me to be forced to change this review score.

Finally, the Dragon Age servers can't be reached bug is still in effect as of writing this review, making sure I have been unable to import any of my choices from the previous games. Had the game not already been at a 0/10 this would've lowered the score further still.

    Tl;dr
There is no tactical combat, this is the worst PC port since Skyrim, the camera doesn't work, the AI is horrible and Nightmare is frustrating yet too easy.

I don't ever write reviews....but I can't play this game without wanting to praise it! I freaking love it! DA Origins was one of my favorite games- ever (As far as RPGs I'd say second only to Mass Effect 1) I didn't get too far in Dragon Age 2.. not far enough to catch ANY of the plot references except for the city of Kirkwall lol- I really couldn't get into DA2 for some reason.. but thisI don't ever write reviews....but I can't play this game without wanting to praise it! It is not DA origins and if you want it to be- you'll be upset. It's not a 'stat based' rpg, it's not.. a lot of things.. it's... Modern, and by god is it amazing!

There are a dozen things I could complain about, the odd glitch here & there.. leveling up too easy (that's my fault- I'm a completionist) and the god awful melee system D: (I play as a sword & board warrior) It really does bother me that I can't click someone and have my guy run over & attack, you have to run up to the enemy and click (or hold R)..I get the purpose, and it does make you feel a bit more immersed..until you find yourself swinging your sword right in someone's face & barely missing them:P.

    Anyways-

It really is the little things in this game that set it apart- for example you can dynamically acquire "agents" throughout the game, find someone that could be an asset to you? Recruit them. It happens in such a fluid-immersion way that I am always really excited about it!

The graphics! The people look about the same buy ooooooh the scenery- just hit the western approach and HOLY SH** some beautiful shots there!! And the first time I went into the deep roads? Almost shat.

My first dragon encounter..just randomly mopping up a map & BAM epic. The dragons fly around and smash boulders & the environment in general- shoot fireballs at you and such. The actual battle is very reminiscent of an MMO boss battle..& It's awesome!

Crafting! I wish the normal schematics were all in shops and rares were drops.. but besides that.. LOVE THE DEATH out of the crafting!! You get schematics for an item and then get to pick the materials which in-turn decide the color scheme, there are several varieties of metals per tier so you do not have to go with a weird color just because it is better- you get to pick what suits you:) that with the idea of weaponarmor upgrades customizing the looks of the item, it really works out beautifully!! I cannot praise the crafting system enough for it's creativity & loveliness :D.. I'll admit it is a bit "barebones" or "rigid" overall but somehow it is freakin' perfect.

But wait..there's more.. you get a stronghold that you can (kind of) customize, pick the bannerswindows THRONE.. that's right, the throne..which you sit upon and judge people (Fable 3 style) COULD THIS **** GET ANY MORE EPIC? Yes. It does-

There are mounts, Horses, these weird elk type things, some weird demon horse things & "exotic" mounts.. I have so far only used the Horses, but they are beautiful and feel very real & add nothing but immersion and accessibility. & the fact that there is such a wide variety of horses- it is all just wonderful.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR AN EXPANSION DLC! WHY CAN'T I UPGRADE TO DIGITAL DELUXE FROM RETAIL? LET ME THROW MY MONEY AT YOU!!!!

Not sure what kind of crack are the people giving this game a 0/10 smoking, but at least it's an argument, that the Metacritic user review section needs to go.

The game's awesome! Absolutely huge world, a 100 hours of gameplay minimum it seems and it doesn't really feel padded at all. The only thing that's a bit iffy to me is the consequences from the previous games - they seem to be

The game plays like a "single player MMO" and apparently at some point it was designed as a multiplayer game. In doing so, EA/Bioware might have stumbled upon something really cool, as this kind of world design gives the player a lot of freedom and at the same time, it still has that single player power-fantasy charm that no MMO can give you (with thousands of copies of you running around and being told that they too are "The One").

A great game, that will consume your life and won't apologize! By all means, do get it! :)

Despite numerous shortcomings, the new BioWare project is undoubtedly worth your attention. One of the best RPGs of 2014.
