I have spent the last 3 years defending Bioware for the ME3 ending (which I was fine with) and telling everyone that Bioware is the best. But this game has done everything it can to shatter my view of Bioware. I have only played about 6 hours, and I am thinking of unloading and reloading my dishwasher as a way to add some fun into my evening. I only paid $32.00 for this. It was about $31.50 too much. I was really looking forward to this, as I loved the first Dragon Age game. And what a game it is. I absolutely love the visuals, surroundings and gameplay. Unfortunately, after seven hours play I stumbled upon a game breaking bug. I suddenly couldn`t load my save games. Ea and Bioware`s forums are full of people having the same issue, and two months after release the game is still unplayable.

Every once an a while you'll bump into a pack of wondering enemies to mix things up but the combat is so laughably easy especially if you craft your own gear. To be fair I didn't finish the game but I had seen enough to know that if I kept playing it would be the same boring fetch quests and combat for another 20 hours. As far as the story - its forgettable at best. Considering how bad everything else is I can't imagine it getting any better as the game progressed.

I cannot comment on story because I realized it would be a miserable aggravation to play through and returned it after thirty minutes.

I loved DAO and even DA:2 despite it's drawbacks. What lead me to my conclusion was:

Tactics: huge downgrade from the flexibility and behavior controllability of Dragon Age 2. There is no auto attack and the character you control will not snap to it's orders. it has to be physically placed and then repeatedly told to attack by the player. Even indicating a target and holding the attack command will result in your character sitting still and swiping uselessly at air unless you personally move him into position. In a series about party management where combat relies on precise positioning, it turns the slick action into an impossible hassle.

Simple movement through the world was instantly aggravating. My character moved as though he was trudging through knee-deep molasses in the heat of combat, a useless quality in a dual-wielding rogue.

Interface: the interface is large, blocking up way too much of the screen, and far more visually complex than what it should be. The DA2 interface was sleek, somewhat minimalist, and highly functional. Coming from DA2 where I could snap around the battlefield like an overcaffeinated god and issue timely and effective orders that the AI could rapidly and properly execute, this was a mess. Getting a good view of the battle was often very difficult.

Customizeability: in DAO and DA 2 there is tons of leeway in how to spec your characters to succeed even when using wildly different builds on the same character. In DAI this is essentially gone, because the computer assigns your stat points for you. Building the ultimate specific-purpose character is no longer a possibility.

If you are coming from DOA or DA 2 and are looking to carry on the good high-octane work, you will be very disappointed in the basic gameplay of this installment, as I was.

First of all i rated DA:I with 0 not because deserves a zero but because it carries the name as a title and as Bioware game. The last is under question of course since it is mostly a console game for button mashing when you fight.

i grow up with games like Baldur's Gate,Icewind Dale,Neverwinter Nights and then DAO came. What an apocalypse,a truly turn based RPG,great story, great combat system, great companions.
Then DA2 came, felt strange but it is a game that you can enjoy even if it is more action playstyle oriented.
    After a long anticipation DA3 came and...what a dissapointment...
Not a turned base/strategic fights RPG non a pure action oriented..
The game is obvious made for consoles and NOT a Pc,you really cant click to move, cant click to loot, menu is really bad,no tooltips on spells!,have to press the attack button all the time...camera is also terrible.
Graphics look good to me overall but i really strugle to play it in fights and i do not enjoy it.
Call me romantic but i reall miss the old black isle/bioware titles, games for more "hardcore" players for sure but they are great for my taste.I wrote this review more becouse i am dissapointed than to give an overall picture of the game.
Worst thing is that looks so cheap and convenient in may ways, from story, questing to the characters design and their psychology. Also i can not find any reason of using the "tactical" camera.Today i bought the game and played some hours and i feel dissapointed and i admit it,sad.
My last words,if you are a romantic old rpg player like BG and the other bioware-black isle games,if DAOrigins was the next big thing for you after them then i strongly suggest NOT to buy this game.
If you just do not care and want to have some fun then this title could be interesting for you.
As for me if i am to play an epic action game that i smash my ps pad buttons i prefer to play something like God of War instead. But then i suppose this is called evolution? Thanks but not good for me.

Story: Is there a Story, other than kill stuff?

AI: bad as hell. Tactical camera is probably the worst in this bad game. "Hold position" doesn't work, and companions do whatever they want, including ridiculous warps. So often it gets easier to kill a boss soloing it than having stupid companions at your side, that will be bothering you all the time, jumping into traps, running into enemy fire and staying there, etc. You can kill everything soloing with an archer, even dragons that will not do anything if you are far enough.

Loot: once again, crap. 25 years later still insisting with random item loot!!!!!!!!! Player want to look well, and want to look well all game round, not just after a strike of luck in the last hour of a full 130 hours playthrough. Loot for crafting materials is ok. Loot for items, including schematics, only works in mmorpg. Every item in the game should be achievable by work, hard work. Never by pure luck.

Characters Art: another 0. What platic hair is that? There were games in the 90's with better hairs, come on!!!! Lack of armor models (90% of them are the same 3 models for every character or race you play). Clipping and more clipping: hair-ears, weapons-coats, boots-floor

Hissing Wastes deserves a special mention: Such a buggy and unfinished zone, for the love of God. You will find hundres of items floating in the air (boxes, chests, even characters), there is no story at all there, just a big desert with good loot they have put there to compensate the stupid desing of the whole zone.

Overall: DAO was a 10/10, DA II was a 0/10, and this DAI is, just because of the size, the music, and the landscapes, a 2/10. Another disappointment from EA-Bioware.

Graphics are not really exceptional, playing at ultra settings.

Now comes the juicy part, ALL controls are made for consoles. ALL OF THEM. Menus, attacks, spell bar...you name it. Movement is atrocious, I don't really get why they couldn't simply implement DA:O controls, it would have been less effort and more gain.

Combat is abysmal, you just press R to attack - yes you press R to autoattack and do nothing - while spamming whatever spell you want, not that it does any difference since you can barely even aim.

And there's the tactical view...oh my god it's unbelievably bad, you can't control it with mouse (LIKE IT WOULD BE OBVIOUS TO) and WASD don't pan the camera....they ROTATE IT. It is actually the most frustrating thing I've ever seen in a RPG. Uninstalled the game 10 minutes after the tactical view was introduced.

Ah forgot about the story: there's a great evil, you are the chosen one to save the world, end.

I looked all over the place for fixes and tried everything that was recommended and nothing. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all I apologize for my English.

I created this account only for Dragon Age Inquisition (The worst game ever, for me).

I played Dragon Age Origins which was almost perfect game for me and replayed it many times. Even last time when I use cheats to be almost immortal, I enjoyed this game because of epic story, dialogs and many other things. The combat system in DA:O is good. I am real fan of this game. Then they released Dragon Age 2.... For me not bad game, not bad at all. Differences is huge from first game but it still playable. I played DA 2, I think 4 times, includes last time with cheats to complete faster to start new game. Want to say I waited Dragon Age Inquisition very, very much. I pre-ordered it as well. Before it released I played last two games as I mention with cheats. So I can compare the all three games with no hesitation. First two games I always beat on Nightmare even in first tries. They are very hard games on that difficulty, but I manage to complete them with no problems. After I complete this games I start the "Epic" Dragon Age Inquisition.

I started it of course on Nightmare. I forget to mention that I am PC gamer, only PC and I think all people must burn all this damn consoles! F......k them! I apologize. So this game is unplayable on pc at least it is very hard. You can't use mouse to walk, if you suddenly press left button the slow animated attack begins... It is not very bad but irritate as hell. You can't pick up loot as in previous games. Now you must came very close to what you want to pick up. Why EA done this, why this sudden changes to controls? Because they planned this game for consoles, I think only for consoles. But!!!! yei you can jump like an idiot. This I wanted so hard. Can't imagine an RPG game without this option, this so useful!!!!!!! Maybe the brains of developers team jumps out from them and go to find better thing to do. And it's not actual RPG game at all. So I can tell that controls are insane on mouse and keyboard. Tactical camera is a abomination of the tactical cameras of previous two games.

So this crappy parody of Dragon Age is not an actual RPG as I mentioned before. Its action MMO style game with some elements of real RPG. The EAware ruined it very hard. For example the core game quests is MMO style, go to A location, collect X items then go to B location and do it again, and again, an so on.... If developers think it's cool to be like farmer or miner, or crappy cowboy, why they cant simply create miner or harvest simulator games! I say that I am Inquisitor not a fu...g peasant!! This is unacceptable. If They want to create MMO game so create it, please do not ruin epic franchises like Dragon Age. This is Legendary universe! But now it completely consumed buy real world taint. I mean the money and business. DA:I has the most horrible quests in all games that I played before. This many hours of useless quest have no impact on main story. And I can tell that main quests is also very poor and simple, very little of interest. The story of Dragon Age universe ruined for me completely, dead and forgotten. The EA cares only for many. They forget about old fans that like this epic storyline in DA:O and some of DA 2 like me. Developers made this game for 9 years old kids who don't cares about plot just like smash everything in casual mod and jump in not an open world. There is many invisible walls and it feels like old DA2 corridor game, only this corridors is slightly wider.

The characters are boring and stupid, fail monotone dialogs. In combat your allies like bunch of stupid fat sheep or pigs that are very brainless. Maybe I play this game when people create cheats and you can solo Nightmare mod instant kill all enemies. The skill system is worse than in DA 2 simple skill trees. Attribute are don't exists at all. Ok there is attributes but you can't do anything with them like in last games. Maybe you want powerful magic based mage with small amount of HP and Mana. But no you can't, you must play that we pro epic develop team create. And why there is no Healers???? They are MUST to be. So many other fail thing with this game. I played it for 28 hours and bored to death with this single player MMO game. I deleted it and destroyed my origin account. I never buy new games from Bioware. They are dead. I miss the times that I spend in DA:O and DA 2. And for mu opinion Skrym is better that this piece of .......

I do not recommend it for old RPG gamers. If you dream of epic continue Dragon Age story I think you all will be disappointed. It is not Dragon Age anymore. Goodbye my favorite game. The EA ruined all my favorite games: Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

    Thank you for reading.

    A truly awful game.
    Modern, pollitcally correct, soulless rubbish.

They've abused PC gamers, who made the franchise successful, and sold them out to make a buck more from consolers.

Origins was great, DA2 was fun for what it was. It was short, linear, and without any of the complexity of Origins, but ignoring that it was still passable. Inquisition is horse manure.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really, really wanted to love this game. I pre-ordered, waited with bated breath for it to be finally playable, and my word, what a let down. I'll skip over the mechanics, I can live with that (clearly not a PC game made for PC players, but anyway). What I found most unforgivable was the boring, boring story. I can't stress how boring the storyline was. I'd go days without playing as there was nothing that hooked me and made me want to spend hours carefully following the plot. If I can cope with driving the bloody Mako around uncharted worlds and still love Mass Effect, why couldn't they have put a bit more into making this game actually enjoyable? This game has no redeeming features. The characters are unmemorable (apart from maybe The Tevinter bloke, who's name I've forgotten), unsympathetic (Iron Bull, a fan favourite? Really??), and downright annoying (hugely unattractive elf bird who was the lesbian romance choice - cheers for that). Coryphyface was so underwhelming as a boss, I defeated him in about two minutes flat, so overpowered was my character by the time I faced him. And that's due to all the grind I put in, as I always play side quests first in any RPG. I didn't realise there was really no need to find all the shards/mosaic pieces (not that you can)/astrariums and I really tried to. I'm never, ever going to pre-order a game from Bioware again, I'm going to wait to see what the actual fans say (you know, the honest people who play the game, and not one negative score from the critics?? PC Gamer has lost all credibility in my opinion) in their reviews, then probably not buy it, because let's face it, Bioware is dead. Long live Obsidian.

By the way, I've never bothered to review a game before, this is my first. I'm so gutted I had to do it. After hearing about what's happening with ME4, I very much mourn Bioware, I genuinely loved their previous games...

Zoom on tactical map is a **** joke, and even worse if you are in the building the ceiling is the limit on how much you can zoom out. In narrow corridors etc. you dont see **** Even when you finally find the angle of camera that gives you some sort of "vision" when you switch character to issue new commands camera **** moves in theatrical slow motion and you spend another 10 seconds rotating that **** around.

To make it even more retarded controls actions switch around when you enter tactical mode ( and you cant rebind that ) so attack goes from left mouse button to right mouse button etc. And you dont have separate bindings for tactical and action modes.

Also you have to hold the mouse button to attack. Yeah. This is not an action game, this isnt Skyrim. Its a slow grindy combat party rpg. So you select your mage, select a target and proceed to hold LMB for the next 30 sec. Yeah, that is the "action" part of this game. Dont expect Witcher or TES combat. Picture KOTOR or NWN where you had to hold down LMB to auto attack. **** stupid beyond belief.

I alredy spend to much time writing this to beging explaining how quests are like from 3rd grade mmo and how grindy and **** everything else is, others did that better.

The story does not feel like it's Dragon Age. My hard work and dedication in the previous games can all come down to a story I can generate in a matter of seconds, making it feel like you wasted time. (Opt instead once you beat the game to allow you to make the story maybe?)

The game is FULL of glitches. Absolutely full of glitches. Characters I found to be not nearly as compelling and interesting as previous Dragon Age titles.

The story feels INCONSISTENT with previous tiles! These issues we see seem completely made up just for this game.

This game would've better been released as an Open World, No Pressure on Story Guys Take Your Time. There is NO urgency because there are these random things you have to do that are not really interesting or important to saving the world!

This feels like an attempted MMO that fell through a hole in the ground and got made into DA I instead! We have no real direction of story, instead you just do your own thing and make the entire world wait.

Console gamers do not experience the FPS problems because FPS was capped for worst computers. This CAP needs to be lifted! Having a nicer computer does not give rights to be punished!

I am very heartbroken about this title. I wasted over three hours just fighting with glitches alone upon release, and still fight with glitches when I try to play it today.

Are you f***ing stupid? the armor of dead for dwarf appear at 15-17 lvl and you play with formal suit that have more hp than a full paladin armor? Who develop this game dont have the idea how the games works (not rpgs but whole games). Open world? hahaha a stupid standard pattern that you follow and if you try to find a alternative patthern well you simply die (yep lol die!) such in the quest of pool of sorrow. The AI is simply ankward, not only companions but for enemy npc also. Underlevelled i kill giant simply i stay under a small door, the giant cant go away and cant hit me ... well done bioware! The whole game is about 30 hours of main quest and the rest look like a lame korean mmo, grind create and grind again.
This game is classical example how the mindless greedy managers and management world work: give the contract to a incompetent indian/korean/china software company for maximize the profit then bribe the main game site for a good score. That's in new world profit baby! What a Sh***!

I really hope BioWare will not make an open world game again. No one wants an open world in a BioWare game. They should concentrate on their strengths: story, characters, presentation, quests, atmosphere,...

My ocularum indicates that there were.........5 SJW consultants within the vicinity of this game's development at all times. They must have a very low opinion of RPG gamers if they think this hyped-up trojan horse will sway anyone to their 'cause'. They've clearly never played a good RPG...of any sort...ever!

    Good grief!

And I don't hold Origins in as high regard as most other reviewers either. It was OK, but I don't think it was 'epic' or 'classic'. It just felt like less 'work' than its successors(Anyone else remember the hype surrounding the original Dragon Age? I do!). But this? This is one part cynical pandering to the lowest common denominator and one part SJW crusade(a sticky-nosed busy-body by any other name is still an INQUISITOR). ;-)

All in all , this is an average MMORPG that made me grind through numerous fetch quests and generic enemies , just to fall flat on its face whey you discover that all that time and effort I put in it went completely unrewarded.

But it's not from Bioware, but a raising star in the video game world. Bioware, on the other hand, is a falling star (or a fallen star if you take Mass Effect out of the equation for once). That's history's irony. Once the best RPG developer and today (see Inquisition) they have totally forgotten what a good RPG is made of. It's almost like the Roman Empire which fell (partly) due to its decadence.

Honestly, if they make RPGs with a meaningless huge world where picking roots is the most exiting activity, then they better die away for good.

It's a shame what the current Bioware team has made of the great Origins. The main thing is to address the crowd. In Origins you could tell how much love the developers put into the story, the many good dialogues, the great characters, and an ingenious soundtrack. In this unworthy part only the graphics were nice. The rest is just garbage.

I really wanted to like Dragon Age: Inquisition to be honest. I was so hyped for this game because I absolutely loved Dragon Age: Origins and was hoping that I would find more of the same in this game. The beginning seemed fairly promising, but the reason I stopped playing was because of the controls on PC. I've found that the controls get criticized a lot when reading other reviews, and I unfortunately have to concur. There is no way to really play this game in isometric mode, and controlling your party and characters otherwise seemed extremely unwieldy to me on PC. I didn't feel like playing it on a controller (I expect a PC game to be playable on keyboard and mouse) so I just moved onto the next game.

Well, it's garbage. It's an open world single player MMO full of fetch this and that side questing that add zero to the story. Most areas are optional and have no effect on your progression other than items.
You have to press a button to see collectible items on the world all the time, it's an annoying scan and most of the collectible items you won't end up using. Once you figure out how the crafting works, you'll just go for the higher tier ones. Also, crafting breaks the game, you can get overpowered really quick.

The gameplay is atrocious without mods. There's no tactical aspect to it, just run around, hack/slash/dodge use skills and wait for the cooldown to use them again. Bioware's idea of difficulty is just turning enemies into HP Sponges to make battles take forever at times. You're never in any real danger other than from bad camera, bad movement and useless tactical option. In an open world area enemies will plenty of times just spawn out of no where continuously or de-spawn just as you reach them.
The areas are just bland "oh here's a desert, here's a jungle, here's a forest, here are the plains" type of business.

The main story is weak from the start. You're the chosen one just because and your enemy is a recycled generic silly goose from DA2 DLC who disappears through most of the game and just shows up to be beat up. Also his only motivation is evil for evil's sake, which is boring. There's zero connection between what you do in the world and the way the story progresses in terms of enemy strength and adding or reducing challenges in the main missions.

Character creation is simply cosmetic and barely affects your role-playing. Either human or qunari you're just the same boring inquisitor and your background barely matters other than a couple lines of dialogue here and there. The way you interact with npcs and your companions barely matters and the hidden approval system is just confusing. There's almost no differentiation in the way you'll build your character should you decide to play multiple times, since there are very few useful skills in each tree, you'll end up picking them and forget the useless ones otherwise you're just setting yourself up for long repetitive battles due to the HP sponge nature of enemies.

There's this thing called the war table that forces you to return to it plenty of times throughout the game to select missions that take real time to complete. It's like the game saying "Ok, you've played enough, go do something else for 30 minutes to 24 hours before you can advance this... fortunately, there are mods.

The only decent thing is the scope of the dragon fights and the way they're massive. But even then, most are basically the same fight, just slight different weaknesses and powers they'll throw at you.

This was a waste of time and it destroyed not only the world building done by DA:O and to a much lesser extent DA:2 but it showed clearly that Bioware is on the way out in terms of quality gameplay and storytelling. I won't even get into the whole forced "wokeness" inserted into this.

I didn't comment on graphics because I don't care for them. Graphics are supposed to be secondary to the story and gameplay, not something you advertise your game on, unless of course you're making a dumb game and you use shiny gimmicks to distract dummies who'll give this a 10. Also, this game is clear proof that so called professional reviewers don't really play the games and are corrupted by perks the companies give them in exchange for a good rating. Always go by the user score, after all they actually play the games and after some time has passed the consensus is always superior to a biased reviewer who drinks the company's kool aid.

    Pro:

You don't have to spend money on Dragon Age 4, which is a direct continuation of this clusterfack.

    neutral:

Upgraded graphics compared to the two first games.

    Decent music

    con:

Short main story that is artificially extended through several different grinds like a MMORPG. (power points, equipment, schemata / plans (alchemy, equipment), crafting etc.)

Sterile and mind-numbing writing / design on the majority of all quests (fetch quests, kill this, that and this again).

Forced and time gated wartable missions which you need to complete to continue (unlock main missions and areas), a huge time waste with no direct quick travel into the overview

Badly written companions with even worse incentives (they completely did retcon Varrics personality)

Boring and dead open world areas which are too huge (+ slow moving mounts)

Ridiculous "real" villain revelation at the end.

Completely facked up skill and fighting system, badly done cooldowns, a limit of eight useable abilities (DA Origins had at least 80 for each class), the skill trees are an accumulation of a huge amount of passive skills, auto hit simulator, a trainwreck of a tactical view with limited zoom (no real overview)

Even worse attribute system, the best performance for all classes are crit + crit damage / 100% crit builds, because the main attribute of all three classes increase the damage by only 0.5% each point.

Broken auxiliary systems like barrier and block.

The worst bugfixing moral of any game I know, instead of fixing a issue they removed it out of the game (skillpoint amulet exploit etc.)

Atrocious controls for the PC port

Completely dumbed down AI with no micro management

A huge amount of bugs they will never fix

    Woke SJW Agenda included

In short: the greed of EA and their talentless hacks did also destroy this franchise.

    - enemy AI is terrible: enemies on a hill can't find a path to attack you below.
    - quests: fetch x amount of y and bring to z. Almost exclusively!

Then there's the rest of the game:
    - butt-ugly character models that look like they were from 2002.
    - dumbed-down RPG elements (this is more an action-adventure than an RPG, let's be honest here!).
    - loses the dark & gritty setting of Dragon Age 1 for more of a pop artish style. Yuck!
    - controls are horrendous. Don't have a controller? Better not try playing it then! Mouse & Keyboard controls are almost unplayable.
    - went woke (comments about transgenderism in a time before transgenderism even existed?!)

Dragon Age Inquisition manages to be even worse than Dragon Age 2: The Great Recycle. I'd rather play that one again than this piece of garbage. There is nothing redeeming about Inquisition!
