This game and all it represents just makes me sad.
I have tried to play it, I really did, I had 80 hours put in, I explored everything, I colleceted everything and I almost finished the story. But the further I got, with every collectibe, every little mindless fetch quest my dragon age and RPS loving soul died a little. So I just stopped, I have never finished it and I have no intentions

Game is garbage. Full of an absolutely idiotic pushing of SJW agenda. For example there are like a LOT, a freaking LOT of woman soldiers and knights. Come on, we are speaking of supposedly middle ages and you put so much woman to soldier positions? Did you missed your history lecture? Do you realize that muscular and bone properties of different genders DO REALLY differ? And it is freakingGame is garbage. Full of an absolutely idiotic pushing of SJW agenda. And also being a woman... In middle ages... When woman had 8-12 children...
Gay narrative is also idiotic - after few minutes in game you can start gay romance like whatever. And with whom - with your own head of army. This is an excelent example of garbage writing done to please "critics" just to check some marks of being "diverse".

Visuals are OK just because I'm playing 6 years after the game was published and I can allow myself full ultra settings.

Bad bad game, a big open world is meaningless if it is filled with boring grind-y stuff. The story was terrible, with the a bad guy that did not leave a mark at all.

It's a late review, I know - so much was already said about the game, I just think... It doesn't deserve a score this high, and I wanted to share my thoughts after finally managing to finish this game in 2017.

After many years since the release, on my 4th (I think) attempt I managed to complete the story. I forced myself to do so out of love for DA:O, and other Bioware games that were good. I really tried finishing all the side quests, but I just gave up and went on with the story.

I can compare the experience to shoving a light bulb up your ass. At first it's okay, then comes the thick part that you hate- and you think if you go through this huge thick part it'll feel better in the end - but... Sorry, it doesn't. You just end up with a light bulb in your bum. And you know what? You actually paid for it. Crazy!

On the upside: The characters are good, some, but not all dialogs are good - the main story is passable (but this is just 10% of the game)

TLDR: Boring single player MMO quests for 90% of the game, dumbed down RPG mechanics, repetitive combat where you have to hold a button to win, console port UI and controls, story and conversations are okay though. You can watch them on youtube and be done with it.

    The good:
    1) The world looks amazing.
    2) Good voice acting.
    3) A ton of nice lore.
    4) Interesting charaters and character interractions.
    5) Solid plot (tho imo too short)
These are not all the things that I enjoyed in the game but the top 5.
    Mixed:
    1) More action based combat seems like a nice idea but doesnt feel compleated and tactical camera/pause system doesn't fit in it. Specially with so stripped down combat tactics system
    2) Some of the side stuff felt out of place and I didn't even know why I was doing it other than xp.
    3) Most of the enemies felt the same, with just a different pain job. (This would be bad if combat it self would be fulfilling and fun)

There are prolly more stuff that I cant remember on the top of my head, but here are some that I think that could use a bit more work on them. And now.

    The horror:
    1) Player character needs playable backstory what happens b4 **** hits the fan. It's boring to read it on codex and doesn't connect me as a player into the world anyway.
    2) Control are **** Who ever design the controls have never seen a computer or atleast played with one.
2a) For example here left click being default attack where earlier games it was select. Not only that but when you attack even without enemies you go into combat and cannot interract with what ever you were trying to click. And on top of this waste of time you cannot unbind left click in the menu. 2b) When you press W to move it actually takes like 1-2sec for your character to actually start moving. This is usually consol problem why do you have to import this **** to PC I have no idea.
2c) When you enter combat you move much slower than normally, but since normal movement is already a bit slow it makes melee classes feel sluggish. This game direly need a sprint in general (in controls there is "sprint" but it doesn't work no matter where I bind it, only horses can sprint?)
2d) Horse moves barely faster than normal run speed and its sprinting is interrupted by every small stone on the road, where its walk speed is like you would be walking with your own character making it useless in almost everymap of the game.
    3) UI or what ever they think they were doing
3a) I finished my 1st game at lvl 25 (no DLC) with about 15 different spells. Which I coudn't use since game only supports 8... now I'm in DLC and I have even more spell that I cannot use (yey!).
3b) Menus a absolutely horrible to use with mouse, tooltips pop on items with your mouse and they there when you sell the item and blocks the view of which item is next. Menu needs to scroll it self to the item on the mouse b4 you can interract with that item. Feels who ever designed this doesn't know how mouse works, or doesnt care. Or (very minor spoiler) trying to select one quanari into your group means you have to everytime scroll tru all of your other companions to find him. Basicly its a bad consol menu ported badly into PC.
3c) Im not going in detail to tactical camera thing 1st since it's useless and 2nd cause it horrible to use on PC. So again it feels like badly ported to PC.
3d) Wartable diveded for no reason to 2 sections.
4)AI as said above all enemies feel the same, but what bothers me the MOST about the AI is that when you explore a small room all your companions follow as close as they can (hold options doesnt seem to work outside of combat) can cannot get out of said room they block all the doors etc. and you are the paper of the world, you cannot push anyone out of your way and if you are in the way of and npc you slide in fron of them like you were on ice or some **** This includes that followers slide you off cliffs and suchs.
    5) Everything in this game takes so much f*king time for no reason. When you pick somethin up, it takes 3sec. 3 f'cking seconds for pickup animation... in a game that you need to loot everything for money thats just mean. As said above menus are so badly made that takes a **** ton of extra time. Door close them selfs magically and you guessed it. TAKES EXTRA TIME to open. wartable animation was nice at 1st but guess what after 50th billion time seen it TAKES EXTRA TIME since cannot be skipped.
    6) Face and armor textures look **** in game. Armors look boooring and generic no shiny knights or mystical robes. (tho robes have always been smeh in DA imo) DLC added some but still doesnt fix it. Faces look nothing like in the editor and in general bad, even DAO vanillia face had better look in it.

To stay within 5000 limit I must end here. But it is as if half of the studio were trying to make a great game but other half (insert picture of a monkey here)

What has happened to you Bioware? EA? Must be?

From the epic RPG story telling of Dragon Age Origins.
A misstep in Dragon Age 2
And a single player MMO in inquisition with a lack lustre story, poor game play and world.

The experience gets even worse if you look back at the older catalogue

Review for the ultimate edition with all dlcs

    Pros

    1. Nice areas really scenic.
    2. semi interesting companions

    Cons

    1. Areas while nice are nightmare to navigate,i almost uninstalled in forbidden oasis

    2. game has that stupid consoley movement where you jump and move backwards or slide on rocks which is a nightmare when you want to climb somewhere

    3. Game has horses :D but no area to use the horses :DDDDDD not only that you wont use a horse since you need to constantly dismount to gather materials

    4. Party banter is non existent. Even varick is depressed. Varick from DAO 2 and varick from DAO 3 are tottaly different. Maybe bioware resurrected bartrand and had him play varick

    5. Atrocious combat system. really bad. really bad though

    6. game is small but they rectified this with huge difficult to navigate areas so its 5 mins questing 15 mins navigating to next quest

    7. Quests are mmo style and this game does give mmo vibes. Go there kill 5 come back or go there fetch that come back again rinse repeat

    8. This may top everything, you have potions and companions even use potions which is nice. But if you make bombs or any other class specific potion they never use them :DDDDDD so a rogue just stabs doesent use a grenade unless you do it yourself

    9. The game forces you to always have warrior-mage-rogue because there are areas in game where they are needed always. You cant have 2 warriors 2 mages

    10. No continuity between games. if you import save from 1st game to 2nd nothing happens.if you import this save now to game 3 also nothing happens and by nothing i mean you might get a mention here and there and nothing more

    11. Companions are ugly as FAQ

    12. Companions are gay. I have nothing with gay people but seriously shoving down my throat if i want to romance another same sex person constantly is getting annoying. Especially when i ve already started a romance with Cassandra

13.The areas are so huge that the story gets broken down.By the time i finish x area i forget what i was set out to do in the first place

    14. The game dosent mention that you have to do certain quests in a timely manner, this means that if you do w quest xyz quests are failed in DAO 2 the game told you wrap up things we re moving

    15. in level up you dont get attribute points. you only get skills the same old skill from previous games.

    16. Problematic story. You go from nobody to leader because magic

17.Did i mention horrible controls?Maybe with a controller things are ok but if i wanted to play with a controller on my pc i wouldn't have a pc,i would have a console....

    18. Boggles the mind how the FAQ did they manage to make such a mess of the equipment screen when in DAO 2 the menus and screens where so easily navigable. In this game bioware said "yo dawg we heard you like menus so we put menus in your menus so you can menu when you menu" atrocious menu screens have to click 15 times to do what you did with 2 clicks in the first 2 games

    19. Immersion ffs immersion. When one companion talks like shes from glascow and the other like she is from nantes in france immersion goes out the window. Its a fantasy game keep it like that. maybe in DAO 4 we will get a guy speaking like boris the slav stay cheeky briki ma friends

    20. The damn dialogue wheel, sometimes the answers arent what you think they are :/ thank god in this game this problem is not big but yeah
    21. the need to spam the v button to make sure you didnt miss anything from the tons of collectibles, unlike dao 2 where it was as a permanent option in settings 22.no option to buy bulk quantities of materials hence more spamming of buttons to get 50 silks or whatever else needed, its like this was their first rpg 23. The amount of times you get stuck in combat and cant interact with objects of interest is mind boggling, they dont play their games after they make them thats for sure otherwise this specific bug? is obvious from the first 30 mins of the game. What this means is when you get stuck in combat you start walking like a rogue in stealth painfully slowly which is infuriating 24. every single humanoid enemy from a knight to a wildman of the jungle has the exact same move set... just different skin... I could go on for hours but 5k limit, tldr Want a console action rpg game?this might do the trick, are you one of those pc rpg guys?Avoid this like the plague. It costs 40 euros too The bioware that made gems like baldur's gate and the first two mass effect games is no more. Move on people. As always disregard what the Critics say, game journos gave this game 80+, they must have played some other game

First of all the positive aspects: good graphics, answers to choose in dialogues, nice battle system.
But the world is too open to me, I felt like lost and therefore the story is developing too slowly to be engaging. DA Inquisition reminds me of ME Andromeda - cut 80% garbage content and make the game more thrilling.

It throws almost everything out from the first game while adding uninteresting, unoriginal systems. Making the end result feel more like an mmorpg with quests that require grinding, meaningless fights and boring character interactions. They obviously went for quantity over quality. It's no mistake that there are mounts in the game because it's a large and empty world. Which is although beautiful completely lacks the dark fantasy feel of Origins, which is one of the biggest mistakes of this game, since this was the most notable aspect of the first game which made it stand out from the rest. The UI also got downgraded when it comes to design. The menus and interfaces of Inquisition are soulless, black colored geometric shapes. They would stand their ground in any type of game because they remind the player of nothing, they are completely bland. At least they are a pain to navigate thanks to uninformative item descriptions, confusing item names and a horrible crafting system. Items also got downgraded in this game with armor now divided into an armor and a helmet slot. This makes absolutely zero sense greatly degrading the rpg experience. I guess this would give developers more time to create useless collectible grinds that add nothing to the experience. Item description are also shorter with trash items truly becoming uninteresting trash in this game.

Although I think almost everything Inquisition done had made it an inferior, generic and uninteresting grind when compared to Origins, there are some things that are a genuine improvement. Combat is pretty good, making meaningless fights at least bearable. Abilities look really good and the addition of the Qunari as a playable race is also welcomed. But that's about it, this game positions itself as far away from what Dragon Age stood for as possible in order to create a bland experience of a world that has little from the dark and gritty mood of the first game. Let's hope that the next game in the series will not sacrifice so much for an open world and rather create a more linear game with better content and design.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played through this game again, and i feel i have to lower my score from 6 to 4. Its worse than i remembered and i have it fresh in mind now.

The main game is really short. I remember Modern Warfare got some criticism for being short, but this felt even shorter. And in the end, closing the rifts didn’t even really matter. The main quests are the best and most rewarding, followed by companion quests. But in order to complete some of these you have to finish a bunch of other side quests. Like Unfinished Business. Get to the toxic fog, back to war table, take over griffins keep, get the darkspawn quest, back to war table to clear up more fog, go through the darkspawn lair or whatever, just to kill that one guy? Most side quests are too long and a lot feels the same. And most are really dull. It’s a big world, but its an empty world and it just feels like an obstacle between me and the game/quests. It’s not really interesting to explore and there’s not really that much to explore. The game is repetitive and tedious. I also feel like the game is pushing towards siding with the templars. I feel forced by my companions. I would really like this to be more balanced. The presentation of quests is also pretty bland. I mean like the way NPCs give them to you. And the grind you have to do progress to the game. “Look for other opportunities to expand the inquisitions influence while you’re there”. Sure, I’ll help this farmer retrieve his goat so I get more political influence. Really? Another thing, why do I, the inquisitor, have to go around and collect stones and flowers for other people? This is stupid and feels kinda world breaking for me. The world feels empty. Not really interesting to explore, few NPCs to talk to, no cities to visit, ruins and dungeons to explore. Some maps are very beautiful to look at. But they feel empty. And the maps themselves are really bad. A lot of the time it’s like “oh, there is a giant cliff here, and I need to get on top of it”. Then you have to run for five minutes along the cliff to try and get on top of it, only to realize you should’ve gone the other way. The combat system is bad, boring and lackluster. The action feels messy and shallow and the tacticical system feels clumsy and bad. It’s like the worst from both worlds. The AI is bad. Boss fights way to long, and really boring. Origins did this so much better. Enemy variety is non-existent. Personally, i liked Origins fighting a lot. I know a lot of people don’t and that a lot of people liked DA2s fighting better. But no matter which one you like, they are both superior to DAI. I don’t really like the war table either, but I don’t really know why. Maybe it feels like something cheap added to make the game seem bigger or something. Give you more to do, idk. Crafting requires a tonne of resources, and resource gathering is a tedious and boring chore. The mounts are a joke. No party banter and you can’t interact with anything. Approval. One of the creators said that the Origins system felt off since it was measured in numbers and that’s not how it works in real life. And like yeah, it’s a video game. But that was the reason they removed that from the game. But still, court approval in Wicked Eyes is measured in numbers. Your Influence and your level is in numbers. Really? I think it’s a downgrade and the excuse feels like a cop out to make it easier for themselves. Companions. This bioware game has my least favourite companions. They feel shallow and clichèd, everything feels one sided. And no, I’m not talking about their personalities and views etc, I’m talking about substance and writing. They were pretty shallow in DA2 too, but that’s a way older game made in a very short time, thanks to EA. In The Witcher 3, characters feel like real people. And that game came out a year after. Here they feel like simple sitcom characters. Canned laughter and you have a Chuck Lorre show. I see a lot of people complaining about the political agenda/views bioware displays through the characters. I think that’s a nice thing, but I agree that it feels a bit shoved down your throat at times. But maybe it wouldn’t feel that way if the companions weren’t cheap shakespearian cardboard characters. The Trespasser DLC is okay storywise, but the gameplay, god damn. Run back and fourth. Such a small, compressed addition to the story and they make even that feel tedious and slow. There’sone quest in this DLC and I still feel like I’m grinding. But all this aside, my singular biggest problem with the game is that it just does not feel like Dragon Age all. The whole aesthetic. Origins and DA2 feels like Dragon Age games, this feels like a generic RPG. I guess that’s the biggest problem for me. If it felt and looked more Dragon Age I might have ignored a lot more of these points and also wouldn’t be as annoyed by stuff. But it just kept snowballing as I went.

This isnt exactly a bad game, but it is bland. Every single part of this game is mediocre. I'd give it a 5 but considering its a downgrade from origins, and even a downgrade from 2 in some ways, it deserves a 4. In terms of game design it is miles behind other RPG games in a quasi-open world setting.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the possible dire consequences at the close of Mass Effect 2 and DA:Origins, followed by the travesty of ME3, BioWare played it ultra safe with the conclusion of DA:I.

The 60+ hours I put into playing had my imagination ramping up wildly, with no specific expectations for what would happen, but envisioning countless possibilities for what could happen. When reaching the end, it left me with a "that's it?" moment of confusion, then a feeling of hollowness when considering how little your characters and your related interactions play into the climactic moments.

Even ignoring the lack of player's choices and interactions impacting the closing moments, the crushing moment was that there really is no events or moments offered to be impacted. No turmoil, no internal struggle, no 2nd guessing any motivation/action/intention/alliance/etc that took place up to that point. A final battle in a bubble, isolated and shallow.

Everything up till then though? Pretty fantastic, an amazing accomplishment on BioWare's part, but I would have traded it all in for one jaw-dropping moment and tough choice before the denouement.

Bioware responded to the apt criticism of an obviously rushed DA2's recycled environments by going all in environment-wise... and then failing mightily by choosing to recycle piss poor quests.

In PC version the game comes with just a few bugs and mostly of them are visuals, not really annoying. Maybe you will see an extremely glossy lips and hair or some beards out of place, but today's "end games" are worst than this. I do not accept to release any kind of game unfinished, even with minor bugs, but we can tolerate those and don't make the game unplayable, you can enjoy it anyway. Story is long as hell and you have tons of missions, hours of gameplay, I swear you. Then? Why that many negative votes? And why the other half, mostly of them are really positive? Maybe because there are a minor half of DA:O lovers who were disappointed with DA2 and really hope to see on DA:I the DA:O essence reborn. And it's not? Absolutely not. DA:I it's more near to a Hack and Slash than any kind of tactical RPG, as they want to name it. Also you will notice the game seems to not be built to PC platform (Keyboard/Mouse) on interfacing. Default shorcuts are a bad joke for any veteran PC gamer, tactical cam, map interface or character screens are made to use gamepad buttons for sure. If you have a gamepad for your PC, and you like the idea of an action rpg with cool story, you will be not disappointed, but if you were waiting for the real succesor to DA:O on this third part.. don't waste your money and avoid any kind of frustation. I really, really loved the tactical part of this game and I miss it as hell, the current one seems to me too much orthopedical to play confortable. So just try it by other.. ways.. you know ;) Who knows, maybe you discover you like this other kind of games. Expand

    - When I think "maybe I should start DAI", immediately I think of "The Load Times" - terrible
    - The enemies spawn from thin air, and in same places each time you go to an area
    - Wait until you get to fighting - no sorry click click click (who cares what spell or weapon) it just doesnt matter. "Oh I died" - who cares - Continue..
    - Camera controls area REALLY bad, there is an AWFUL transition to "tactical" camera which I immediately zoom away if it accidentally snaps in - which it does constantly when trying to zoom out max
    - The inventory is really messy, only few lines of items in drop down lists. This is not the way to create adventure game inventory! Feels like vanilla Skyrim inventory - BAD
    - The map is stupid
    - I couldn't give LESS what happens to those people in that world it's just so uninteresting story.
    - I keep collecting flower, iron, items and spending time wondering who can wear what
    - The CONSOLE is written all over this game
    - Twitching, laggy, badly written engine
    - STUPID and awkward comments from companions

I have been wondering many times how has this game won many prizes and so good reviews? At least on PC its almost unbearable

The first issue I had is the DRM. The DRM is the protection a game uses to keep people from pirating their game. The problem is, people who purchase the game shouldn't notice the DRM. I did because I was unable to play it for the first week after shelling out my $50. I didn't leave a review then because I felt that would be petty.

Once i finally got in, the game was clunky and boring.

Once i finally got in, the game was clunky and boring. Blah, blah, blah, blah.. Something. Something. Something dragons. I have never been so disinterested in an RPG so fast. It was quite impressive how little i cared about whatever EA was trying to portray with their "story". The combat is "okay", but i'm not willing to endure the pointless filler missions to have combat. The writing was also "okay" but unfortunately, it also required that i endure more filler.

R.I.P Dragon Age series. EA is the devil. I remember when I was young and EA was an awesome company that made awesome games. Their first act of evil was monopolizing NFL games so that they could produce piles of crap at a steady rate of once a year at the gamers' expense. Everything that they do is an attempt to maximize their profits. They fail to realize, if you take pride in your product and make sure that your quality is priority, the profits will take care of themselves.

EA sure knows how to kill the things we love in a legal fashion. They should spend less money paying off critics to pretend like their game is good and more money on quality control and experienced developers. I honestly feel like a 2/10 is generous. All we can do now is hope that the project managers and executives at EA die in an awful car crash in which they don't succumb to the initial impact but succumb to the fire.

Of the three iterations, this one seems to have even less in common with the one we all love DAO. then did it's predecessor DA II. In fact one might never even know that this is a Dragon Age game except for basic universes in which it is set. Speaking of said universe, if one knew nothing of the Dragon Age world, it's history, lore and recent events, one would not have a clue what was going on in this game. You literally would have to read every single codex and then you would still be lost. I've read all the books and played the games so I'm comfortable but you oh noobie would not be. A person should be able to pick up the game and be able to understand the universe and what is going on. This brings up my second point. There is no back story for your character. I've played 20 hrs. I don't know who this person is or why I should care. It's the hated, I workup and don't know what happened bull****. I freakin' hate that cop out. I know more about the side characters than I do my own character. This is a real mistake as far as drawing in player commitment. DAI is disconnected from the player in a way I've never experienced. Other cons: tactical camera is a joke, it's not even close to a tactical camera. What a mess. No auto attack or target. Useless "tactics" so bad that they called them "behaviors" which is nothing more than potion management. For all intents and purposes combat is fubared. The worst combat of the trilogy, hands down. This game just doesn't know what it wants to be, so a s result it's not much of anything. I'm about 20 hours in and I will take it to the end. It's not all bad, I'm still curious what will happen, but it's not what we all hoped it would be. There IS no Dragon Age folks. That epic dream that held so much promise is dead and gone, killed by arrogant developers that think they know better than us what we need for fun. So sad, so very sad. There are other problems with the game, graphics, crafting etc. but these have been covered. If you're a hardcore fan, get it when the price drops and decide for yourself.
EDIT: I have had to come in and actually lower the score. I am dumbfounded at what they did with Dragon Age. Dumbfounded. The entire game is basically filler to mindlessly go from place to place and engage in combat. The entire main story is so thin that it likely be completed in around an hour. It reminds me a lot of LOA but with far inferior combat. LOA had great combat and that's all it had. There is so much lore to work with! Where is the Architect? What about the Old God that Morrigan had? Do they give us anything? No. They bring in a whole new antagonist, which we never get to know anything about, a whole new and thin, boring story line. There is no context for any of this! It's like it's not even a Dragon Age game! I don't know what this is but I'm so disappointed I literally feel sick to my stomach. If you want to spend hours doing a whole lot of meaningless quests with boring combat simply to get to the end of possibly one of the laziest story lines in gaming history, be my guest. Forget all the fascinating lore, the great writing and witty personalities that was the promise of Dragon Age. Forget epic adventures, forget caring about your hero and his/her companions, forget evolution in combat, forget depth, forget EVERY THING that is Dragon Age. This isn't it. This is a cheap imitation with the Dragon Age name slapped on it's cover. What a crock.

Stupid AI where you have to issue commands to your companions then pause and issue same commands after a couple seconds, lest they became mutinous. The companions can't be assigned scripts and clear instructions on how to use their already cut down and simplified abilities, and the combat have been severely dumbed down and simplified even in Nightmare difficulty with no tactical challenge whatsoever, and consist of spamming buttons and hoping to connect a hit and learn to hate the long and stupid attack animation that plays even if you misclick. The GUi is a mess.
Use a gamepad? Useless as it doesn't prevent the problems already mentioned and I'm a keypad-mouse player and this is a fricking RPG game ffs, or a least it pretends to be.
The amount of fetch quests and MMO like game sequences is too damn high.
The animations and character designs are ugly, Dorian and its sentient moustache are a joke, Varric is ruined in design as well as his humour, and Solas look like crap, and there is no single good looking female character as even Leliana appear wooden (although you can feel her sadness to be part of this game :)). Romance? Plastic + stupid dialogues = no immersion. No thanks to Gayder and the hack writers who ruined romance and characters development trying to please every poor sod and their dog, the design team dealing the finishing blow to what used to be an important part of Bioware games.
The story is bland and as boring as closing the oblivion gates in Elder Scrolls minus the epicness of said game, as DA Inquisition may look nice but the world is lifeless, and even fighting a dragon in a franchise where dragons used to be a big part of the story and lore became a chore now.
Bioware tried too hard to please everybody and expand its market to MMO buffs and action games fans, failing to focus its efforts in making a proper RPG, it completely lost its ability to make good RPGs since DA Origins and Mass Effect 2. I find it moronic to rehash the same crap time and again and hope for the best, they said they learned from their mistakes and accepted fans feedback, I highly doubt that. I'm also amused by the discrepancy between professional reviews and scores and the users' ones. Surely we failed somehow to grasp the hidden EA greatness. Peace out.

For an open world RPG you barely have any interactions with any objects whatsoever. You can't sit on chairs, you can't ask for a drink in the tavern, unable to climb up on rocks (I felt like I was participating in a Slip N Slide pool party), you can't sleep in your bed, and now you can no longer have your character to enjoy the entertainment (humor mind you) of a prostitute in a brothel like you could the previous two games. For a game that is rated M for mature with nudity and sexual content (It indicates it on the box!) I am highly disappointed that theirs lack of it. The only nudity and sexual content you'll ever get to see is if you're finalizing your romance with one of your companions, and it's a one time deal the rest is kissing, that’s it!

The amount of fetch quest is annoying and outrageous. Theirs a crazy ancient Darkspawn trying to destroy the world, and as the Inquisitor I am forced to do trivial task (to rank up power points to do main quests) of doing assistant work for a hunter too lazy to hunt food for his people. I must kill and gather up certain amount of ram meat to feed his villagers.... BORING!!!!

If you go on YouTube type in “Digiexpo 2013 - Dragon Age: Inquisition Gameplay” and watch the entire 31 min and 40 seconds video. You'll see Bioware showing off the Pre-Alpha of the game. You notice that the none of the content that was shown on the video was ever released in the finial version of this game. What we purchased is a whole different game considering to what was advertised to us. They took all of the fun things out, and put nothing but boring fetch quests, and boring skyhold war table quests that you yourself are incapable of participating. This is fraudulent misleading and deception on the behalf of Bioware and EA to their consumers. I can only hope that a Dragon Age fan, who happens to be a good attorney, will step up to the plate, and uses his/her skills as lawyer to open a class action lawsuit against Bioware and EA for this deception.

And whoever in Bioware/EA office thought that it was a great idea to run around Skyhold wearing undergarments (The infamous tan pajamas) is either suffering from a dysfunctional disorder of the mind or putting us all on. Either way were not given a choice to wear our regular armor in Skyhold.

They are just contributing to the downfall of PC gaming while getting fat off of endorsing any product for loootz. Seriously I don't have any respect for any game journalist out there.

The Consumer is the voice of reason and always has been.

I bought DA:I yesterday (off Origin of course) because they release only a tiny portion of boxed copies locally, forcing people to go through Origin where they can charge whatever they want because of exclusivity. I paid $80 AUD for a game that's been out of months (for a Digital copy) Now usually I don't care how much a game is as long as it's quality, but DA:I is anything but.

I was extremely excited to play this, having fallen in love with DA:O - (DA:2 not so much) The initial excitement lasted just past the character creation screen where it was crushed by the inevitable realization that this was another brain-dead console port.

The first kick in the teeth was the stupid un-intuitive console inventory, then my disappointment worsened when I saw there's only two slots for armor (really? two!) no belts, no gloves, no rings, no greaves, no boots, no jewelry ? - way to make a dumb game even dumber and more shallow.

Then there's the complete garbage skill trees, that were so generic and lack-luster I stood there for 10 minutes deciding do I want this crap ability or this other crap ability. Skipping that, I clicked on the Behaviors tab, not to my surprise, the items didn't even fit on the page so I couldn't even read them.

The Graphics- This is 2015 folks, the graphical quality in DA:I meet the absolute minimum standards for this generation of gaming. It's not an ugly game, but for this generation, I expect much better and in turn much better optimization. I've got the best hardware money can buy and I managed 40-70 fps on max, that is terrible optimization for these average graphics.

To top all that off, there is a horrible mouse acceleration issue that makes the camera stagger and jitter which feels incredibly bad. No amount of tweaking the sensitivity and smoothing made it go away. More remnants of the lazy console port.

Lastly, the combat is not fun, It takes me about 10 seconds to locate my damn cursor due to it being the size of an ant, and without any passive animation to give it away, I then start shooting enemies like my staff is a Gatling gun of sorts while my team "blink" around like idiots and everything quickly looks like a giant orgy, all the while I have 4 guys on me as a mage and they can't take aggro off me due to getting stuck on terrain, so I have to run at the pace of a sloth until they get their **** together.

The animations are bad, the effects are something you would expect from a 1999 RPG, and the path-finding is crap also making combat in general very unsatisfying.

Lucky I am able to get a refund for this POS. RIP Dragon age. (probably not thanks to console casuals gobbling this crap up)

A complete run of the game will take you something like 120 hours. 100+ hours of that will be travel time and bunny hopping trying to reach locations. Almost all of the remaining time is spent wrestling with the game's combat system--companions running into walls the entire fight, squishy companions dropping everything they're doing to run into melee with the big bad enemy, inaccurate targeting of AoE spells, companions having no clue how to utilize any of the abilities you've given them, etc... This game has NONE of the tactics options we loved so much in DAO and DA2 and it's...horrible. Almost as bad, there's no real difficulty to any of the enemies; you can 1-shot the "hardest" hidden boss in the game on the highest difficulty with tragic ease starting at a pretty low level. Because there's a lack of proper design for fights, all the difficulty is cheesy artificial difficulty (dealing with bugs, dealing with bad AI) and the same holds for most of the tactics you can use.

Even if this game had the best story and characters in the history of gaming--which isn't remotely the case as the writing is mostly disappointing--99% or so if your playing experience would still be this horrible, chore-like gameplay. And the fact that so many professional reviewers completely ignore the game's extremely obvious shortcomings while they jumped on the flaws of DA2 and Jade Empire, controversial games that I think were both better than DAI, is a travesty. And bespeaks horrible incompetence.

Simply put - the story is uninspired & what is interesting the game fails at delivering it in a timely fashion. Sometimes if given enough time a game/story can get interesting, but how much time are we talking? If the story hasn't 'grabbed' me within the first 12 hours of gameplay, then frankly it has missed the mark.

Missions can add to the story, keep players interested, can be quite engaging if done right - unfortunately, most of the missions in DAI are repetitive, boring, endless MMO types. I don't understand why the developers would make players grind out neverending boring missions when this is a single player game. They should have aimed for quality over quantity.

    2. Characters & Dialogue:

Some of the group banter is alright, but for the most part it was uninteresting and just felt 'off'. It was nowhere near as good as Dragon Age Origins.

The dialogue was dull/bland, and inconsequential in that whatever dialogue options you chose it didn't really make a difference.

Ultimately, I never really connected/cared for any of the companions.

    3. Combat:

DAI combat is far less strategic than Dragon Age Origins. Everything has been watered down, which I suspect was done to cater to the console market. The strategic view (overhead camera) seems more of an afterthought, so much so that I seldom ever used it. Most battles are click-fests where you press the same button repeatedly. In DAO battles were fun & at times quite the challenge, but in Inquisition battles are generic, simple, & after a while become incredibly boring.

Controlling certain types of characters like warriors & rogues via the Keyboard & mouse during combat is a struggle due to counterintuitive controls i.e. no auto attack. After a few starts, I opted to go with a mage character which I found easier to control (usually stand in one place during combat).

If your character utilizes range, then you can shoot enemies from a considerable distance & they will either do nothing, or run towards you. Your companions will attack also, BUT if the range is too great between you & the enemy there is a problem. There is a limit to how far companions can be from you & once they go beyond that, they automatically get teleported back to your side.

    4. Irritation & Annoyance:

Loot placement is nonsensical. Treasure chests are placed in the most illogical places imaginable. Behind bushes in the middle of nowhere, bottom of stairs & almost always never guarded (none of the NPC care what you take). Game developers are usually lazy in this regard, but Dragon Age Inquisition takes it to a whole new level.

Some sound effects do not precisely reflect the environment around your character. Instead generic environment sounds are used which continually play in a loop.

Moving over certain terrain can cause your character to slip and slide (can be infuriating).

Endless mining metals & harvesting herbs. The game puts you in the role of a leader & yet you spend a ridiculous amount of time mining & harvesting. Maybe this makes sense for an MMO, but in a single player game it only serves to annoy.

Mounts are great, but you can't search while on them.

Some NPCs are paired and you cannot run in between them even if the space looks sufficient to pass.

Most NPC do not interact with each other i.e. if being attacked near a camp or city NPC are oblivious to what is going on..

    5. Conclusion/Verdict:

A good game almost always has to have that 'wow' factor. Something that grabs you & makes you want to keep on playing. Maybe the combat, extraordinary graphics, an interesting story - something. Sadly Dragon Age Inquisition has none of these. The game is boring, tedious, and there were many moments where I had ZERO motivation to keep playing. I persisted though, kept playing hoping it would get better... it didn't.

There is no way to sugarcoat the fact DAI is nothing more than a big, bloated, clunky game, which was likely originally made as an MMO for consoles. The AI is 'confined' & unintelligent, the environment is static - everything is 'controlled' (no unexpected/unscripted events). I think the developers looked to other games for inspiration & ended up losing sight of what made Dragon Age Origins so great. Inquisition is a game that tries to do everything & as consequence doesn't do any one particular thing well - including the story which is surprising given that this is usually Bioware's strongest point.

The last thing I want to comment on are the stellar reviews given by the 'professional' critics. I am completely baffled at how any objective person could give this game a rating of 85% or higher (one reviewer gave it 100%). As a consumer, I really feel 'duped' by them & in my eyes they have lost all credibility

The story is shallow, predictable and boring.
The characters are not engaging at all, they have very few actually interesting topics. The characters themselves are mostly boring, or forcedly "interesting".
The gameplay is dumbed down for controller control. Tactical mode is basically useless. Combat plays like DA2 but even worse.
The open world is dead and empty. Yes, it's full of random encounters, animals and fetch quests, but barely any meaningful. It's static, if you have a house fire, it will be burning for years if you don't progress the story. Characters stay in place.

The whole game plays like an MMORPG, with it's combat mechanics and static "open" world and shallow characters. The trick is, you don't have other people to play with, which gives the most enjoyment for MMORPGs.

Not recommended at all. Dragon Age stopped at the second installment.

This game is just boring. Oh and the interface/menu/basically everything is just ridiculous to use with mouse and keyboard. It's just a lazy console port. Good thing is that Origin lets you refund games.

the combat is 100% unplayable, unless you are a mage, and then it becomes a 1,2,3,click fest.....

the tactical combat is not bad, is just inexistent....you never have a whole picture of the battlefield, which mean, you cannot send one of your companions to fight an enemy if the enemy is outside the radar of such companion, and even, when you can, there is not much to do, just "defend" or "attack"; forget about the rich tactical list of DAO or even DA2....

by the way....there is no God in Thedas...that is, at the very end, the whole point of the story...and that is no spoiler....

Bioware: You lost the ability to create immersive games. And No, I do not think that these days games need to be shallow, easy to consume, with tons of simply time consuming side quests. The success of Skyrim and Bethesda show that the majority of RPC fans think that way.

    The graphics are decent,
    the english voice-over is good
choices of the previous two titles get carried over
you dont have to pick a healer or play as one anymore because healing magic is gone (no more wynne)

    cons:
Combat sucks - no more tactics, just buttonmashing
    enemies are dumb bulletsponges
the sad excuse of an up-top tactical view, nowhere near da:origins
your comrades dont have any character, even varric has lost his humor
the story starts boring (no origins-like character background, your background is being told via text in the character creation)
you dont see the faces of people when you talk to them anymore, thus they all seem like puppets you dont care about
dull mmo-like sidequests (kill 10 guys, bring me 5 animalskins, activate base x by walking there)
not remotely story-driven, feels like a single player-mmorpg
no real leveling up, where da:origins had tons of different skills, da: inquisition leaves the player with limited choices (especially the mages suck compared to da:origins, you only have 4 types of magic now, fire, ice, lightning and some buff-crap)
stats level up automatically, making them practically useless
    the minimap is bad
other than english, the voiceover sucks
why are there 5 male romance options for male humans, but only 2 females? (one of which is pretty much a man too)

In conclusion: if you never played da:origins you might enjoy this game, if you did: stay away from this title.

For example, I have a gaming computer that far exceeds the requirements to the run the game at max settings, and then some. However, even turning my graphics down to low/med settings fails to increase performance over the 20-25 fps the game generally runs at, or the 10-15 fps that it runs in crowded, or forested areas.

On top of the terrible fps the motions are jerky, and all the cutscenes are a choppy stuttery mess. This isn't just my personal issue. Apparently it's very widespread.

2-For PC users the interface is nigh unplayable with a mouse, and keyboard. We, don't even have a button to toggle walk, and click to move is gone as well.

For PC users movement is sprint, or nothing, and with the aforementioned lag issues clicking the TINY loot bags is a nightmare. The interface is nothing short of a bad console port, and it really stings after the videos they made claiming they were developing something intuitive for the PC interface. I have seen console users complaining about the controls as well. With the poor design, and all the lag spikes, it makes targeting enemies as a melee class enraging. Too often you'll be swinging at empty air.

3-Design idiocy. If you like combat with as much complexity as the old arcade beatemup "Streets of Rage" you'll really dig Inquisitions combat. Combat has been streamlined to be so simple that I actually began to miss FF 13's combat depth...and that's bad. Really bad.

I hope none of you like many buttons because 29 hours in on my warrior I have 3 attacks, and a few utility abilities, two of which I'm convinced aren't working. If you normally play mages like I do, you'll probably want to reroll like I did. Your spells are few. Your spells are weak. Your weakest spells still use up almost half of your mana/energy bar. (Which regens like rogue energy does from wow.) Therefore, you cast a couple of your largely ineffective spells, go oom, and then proceed to be gangraped by, wolves, bandits, demons, npc apostate mages(lol), bigger wolves, big bug.....things, honey badgers, TEMPLARS, angry squirrels, little old ladies, and chronic constipation. I'll put it like this...if mages had always been this weak since the inception of the series, nobody on Thedas would fear them, nobody would let them in their army, nobody would have heard of Tevinter, and there would be no Templars unless they ran a charitable order like "Feed the Mages", or some such ****

Even DA2 mages feel like demigod powerhouses with abilities, and spells aplenty compared to Inquisition's mage garbage.

Also mounts are badly animated hard to control polygonal lumps that will make reaching your destination actually take longer than just running there.

All in all game play wise the story is the best thing going for the game, and yes some dislike it, but that's always gonna be the case.
I didn't get a refund, because I decided to wait for the technical problems to hopefully get ironed out, and the despite all the above **** I really want to see where the story goes.

I could go on, but the above is the most common points of hate so far.

P.S. Console owners are reporting the same terrible frame rates now too.

Pros: - Graphics is good. Not awesome for 2014 but good and qualifies as eye candy. - The game world is larger than Dragon Age 2. It isn't actually an open world as in the Elder Scrolls games but at least you won't revisit the same locations over and over again. - You can meet characters from previous games. - Combat is godawful. A mix of MMO combat with console action. Button mashing . Don't even try to play Inquisition with keyboard and mouse.
    - The character animations are clumsy and unnatural. I know it's a common enough problem for 3D games but this time the developers didn't even try. Annoying and breaks immersion.
    - Serious performance issues on a rig that can handle Shadows of Mordor on High/Ultra without any trouble.

The side-quests are MMO style hunt and gather, repetitive and dull. A far cry from their start in Baldur's Gate where you could almost always find a twist or even Dragon Age Origins where at least part of them had enough complications to keep you interested.

The controls on the PC are amazingly bad, the UI is almost thoughtless in its design and while the graphics are fine, my modded Skyrim looks better and (somehow) works better. There has been no optimization and seeing as how Bio is bad at it already, I don't expect that to change. If they'd have allowed for a tool set kit, I would have expected the community to fix it (as it happened for Skyrim) but alas...

I am giving it a 2 because it squeezed a few laughs out of me, but it's not even mediocre in my eyes. It is not an RPG, not even an action game. It is a high fantasy hiking simulator.

I would classify this game as a missed opportunity. For those of you who expected Bioware to redeem itself, I'm very sorry. I'm as disappointed as you are.

I've been on Youtube and watched peoples tips on how to make the most of the tactical camera. It's not quite as crap as it first appears and that kept me in the game a little longer... but it's still pretty terrible and ultimately I got incredibly frustrated with it. The only real way to play the game is in hack'n'slash mode, and I'm just not into that kind of thing. As you encounter various parts of the game, you can kind of almost hear the executives at Bioware discussing them in a meeting. "I'm sorry Paul but all these attribute stats are going to put off our console gamers, we'd better *streamline* that bit." Well guess what, you've just turned off 75% of your PC audience. Many of us like all that nerdy stuff and we don't really want to play a Tomb Raider action/adventure clone that's set on Fereldan.

I note there's a lot of people on here saying that it's too soon to slam the game with a negative review. Well when would be a good time? If you've just paid £40 (plus the cost of a new graphics card) to play the damn thing, and you've had to give up on day two because you're bored to tears and you can't take it any more what else can you say except that it's crap and that other people shouldn't buy it? Professional reviews are all about judging each part of the game in turn and giving a balanced opinion on whether you think the average person will enjoy it. User reviews are simply (and often more helpful) they just answer the question "Did I enjoy it?" and if enough people say "No!" then that's quite an interesting statistic. Personally, I'm extremely suspicious about the professional reviews for this game. So many of them seemed to parrot the official EA line about it being "Back to it's root" that when most users discover that it so transparently isn't, one has to question if there's a significant degree of corruption going on.

I suppose I shouldn't finish this review without saying at least some of what I found positive. The graphics and the world are probably the prettiest I've ever seen. They're incredibly varied, and I feel so sad for all those hard working artists and programmers who'd done a fantastic job but ultimately have ended up with their game getting panned because the execs wanted to push for a mass market lowest common denominator style of game.

You! Yes, you! The person who is reading this because they correctly came to Metacritic thinking "The 'professional' reviewers can't be trusted because they are paid shills, lets check the user reviews on Metacritic" I am talking to you when I write this review. Every bad user review on this game is true. Listen up.

First off, look at the User Score, then the "Critic Score" on this site. What a friggin' joke.

Everyone is absolutely correct when they say this game feels like a completely empty, lifeless, dead, static, single player MMORPG. The majority of the "content" in this game is just collecting stupid things like flowers and bits of ore and animal meat, just to complete MMO style check lists. I mean, the quests to "collect x out of x" even appear in the top corner of the screen like friggin' World of Warcraft! This is an MMORPG without the 'MMO' part, and VERY little of the 'RPG' part too!

I have absolutely no flipping idea what the developers were even thinking or doing during the design meetings for this game. I cannot imagine how anyone in their right minds who was behind the development of this game could ever consider for even a second that it was a good game they were making.

This game is NOTHING like Dragon Age Origins. Dragon Age II is even better than this! Yes, really! This game is completely hollow of life and devoid of any of the previous magic games of Bioware's past have. I spent money on this game, and severely regret my decision.

Not only is the game hollow, and dead feeling, but Bioware decided to cram as much social justice politically correct crap in it as possible. If you DO end up playing this game, you'll see exactly what I mean. The entire "romance" system of this game is like fan-fiction from a 14 year old's Tumblr blog. Seriously, its horrendous, completely artificial, forced, and makes you cringe. Maybe instead of Bioware trying to be 'edgy' with their romance design decisions they should have focused on putting real 'content' into the game.

That leads me to my next point, the lie of 'content' in this game. If you've looked up any promotional material for DA:I, then you have probably seen the claim of "over a hundred hours of content!!!!" thrown around. This is a flat out, bold-faced, bait and switch lie. The 'content' they are talking about is you, the "hero" and "savior" running around in grassy fields collecting flowers/plants/ore pieces/animal meat/etc. for hours on end in order to complete totally pointless side "quests" that are there EXCLUSIVELY for filler so they could put "100 hours of content!" on their advertisements. Do you know the term "The Ubisoft effect"? If you don't, it means this: "Lets throw as many stupid and useless/pointless icons on the map and call it side quests/content in order to be able to claim ridiculous fluffed up game length!"

The characters are also bad. Just flat, uninspired garbage. The voice actors may be the same for some of them from past games, but thats where the similarities end. When you talk to them you feel like they are there just because they "have to be because its a "Bioware game".

I am trying to save you money. That is what I am trying to do when writing this review. And no matter what the price for this game is, it is not worth it. I feel extremely saddened having to say all of this, because I LOVED Dragon Age Origins, and even liked Dragon Age 2 for what it had. I also used to love Bioware.

Bioware is gone, and that makes me very, very sad. They have joined the ditch around back of the EA building where Westwood has been laying dead for years, among a dozen other game studios. When Bioware sold out, the promised this wouldn't happen. Well everyone who promised that has since left Bioware, so what does that tell you? The name is just a shell now. A shell to slap on game covers in hopes that loyal fans of this previous great studio will purchase a game based off of nostalgic experiences.

Don't fall for the trap. EA did exactly what they also do. Buy up a studio, use the name to sell some games, bleed it dry, and let it die.

    Avoid at all costs.

Speaking of MMORPGs, the quests are frequently of a similar fashion: "collect 10 fur pelts", "close 2 rifts", etc.

Many players are voicing their concerns on the BioWare forums. Here's hoping BioWare listens and is able to correct some of the issues with patches. The game feels like it was designed for consoles first and the gameplay was designed to be enjoyable for those without a keyboard and mouse. Nothing wrong with that, but the game they shipped is very different than what they promised PC gamers who were disappointed in Dragon Age II.

Also, it's very surprising so many "professional" reviewers haven't reported the issues I listed. I'm guessing either they're unfamiliar with Dragon Age: Origins (and it's spiritual predecessor, Baldur's Gate) and reviewed a console version.

The tactical Camera, terrible, not worth using.

The graphics are poor at best. Expect frame rates in the low 20's at best. During actual engagements this causes a mess and you cant make out what's going on at all. My rogue would flank and stab at the air while registering hits on the enemy. Debuffs and buffs happening at the same time. Too many things going on at once.

Lip movements are not even close to the dialogue. Shiny hair and immovable facial features. After awhile you will start to dread any conversation and quickly escape to something else.

Armor/Weapon design is BRUTAL. I purchased the DA:I special edition and my coveted Dragon Armor looks like it was designed by Liberace himself. My dark rouge prancing around in Gold and Furs with shiny coins all over the front screaming left me swapping it for lower versions. I got some Dragon type dagger that looked like my moms Sterling silver serving fork with a lion on the handle.

The Audio seem ok, but get used to the same sound for footsteps drilling into your head like a badly tuned set of drums.

I give this a 2 because Origin online has the great game guarantee and they allowed me to return this game for refund, very respectable. I suggest that if you are thinking of this game but it on Origin and try it. Let the experience speak for itself.

I am actually questioning the critics scores on this one... Average user score is 5.4 but the Critics are 8.4? Seems like shilling to me.

I am disappointed in the game. The developers seemed to think that creating something new would imply messing up all the game basics. No fun playing the game at all.

Characters don't auto attack when you take control of them so multi managing your party is hair puzzlingly impossible. All the classes are simplified and skill trees leave you with very little meaningful choice, might as well set to auto level.

All in all this game had great graphics and a pretty fun storyline. However as it is currently released the combat is the worst experience you will ever have. The side quests and enemies are boring and repetitive. If you're looking for a horrible skyrim this is it. Otherwise don't waste your money.

Not this time. You will have set of symbols, you will click one of them, then you will drag down a list. then, and only then will you see - and only a few items at a time, what you have. The comparisons of similar weapons is nice, but I want to do this in a few clicks. I am not interested in faffing around with this.

Do developers need to justify their existence by making it more complicated than it needs to be? I've played so many of these games for so long, that repetitive strain is now an painful reality. It limits the amount of time I can play games now. I resent every extra click, every extra key that isn't needed, and folks, this is by far the very worst game I have played for this. It is, literally wasting my time.

It is pretty, but it is empty. It is not open world, it is badly written, the dialogue is random. I was delighted to see Varric, hoping for some wit, at least. But no.

Might be ok for non pc players who want good graphics and fun without gum, but heh, some of us wanted what Origins had. Plot, characters, wit, fun, and an interface that didn't make your hand hurt after a few hours of use.

Should really come with a health warning. Will ruin hand, will bore to tears. Will crush with disappointment.

The user interface is the worst I have ever seen. It is very obvious that this game was made for console, and PC was an after thought. Bioware's flawless propaganda will have you believe that this game was made by PC gamers for PC gamers, this is a total outright lie. Tactical camera is unwieldy and confusing.
No auto attack, for some reason you have to hold the button even for basic attacks, so your mouse is never free to navigate or use spells of the hotbar. Then, you can press LMB to attack any time - as a mage casting magic missles over the walls. I missclick sometimes, breaks the immersion for me.

If you are after a master-class in how NOT to write fantasy, then this is the game for you. Never has it been more obvious that bioware has become nothing more than a logo EA stamps on rpgs. All the writers and developers and, you know, PEOPLE who made previous bioware games good, have quit the company and moved on to indie studios or craft beer breweries to escape the wretched tentacles of EA.
The games writing is slapped together from boring stereotypes and stale cliches to create an exquisitely unimmersive story of the world being about to end and YOU are the ONLY ONE who can STOP IT. The faint glimmer of an interesting conflict set up at the end of Dragon age 2 is stamped out in the first act to be replaced by an increasingly vague and half-assed antagonist whose about as menacing and complex as a kitchen sink.
I was thinking of mentioning the few parts of the game I liked, and there were a few, but I won't because that might fool someone into thinking there's value in this game. I started up the game for the first time 2 hours ago. When I first started it up, I noticed some extremely minimalistic menus: maybe 4 options displayed under each menu item with scrolling required to see them all. The font was abnormally large, as if the developers assumed I were losing my vision and needed jumbo fonts.

When I began playing, the very first thing I experienced was a framerate between 20 and 70 frames per second. That huge variation is a big red flag for me. It suggests optimization problems.

Second were the controls. This is obviously a console-only game. Controls for the mouse are extremely limited and frustrating. Baffling choices for default control mappings (especially comparing it to the superb control mappings of the previous 2 games), a camera that can only be controlled by a keyboard when in tactical mode, a lot of functionality removed from the game like auto attacking and clicking to move to a location.

I have already requested and received a refund for this and I will purchase another bioware game in the future if they choose to deign games with PCs in mind rather than just a bandaid afterthought.

Let me explain this bit - its like a game can't figure out whether it wants more content in its side quests to make it feel like a rich story driven RPG or less content to make it a fast-paced grind that doesn't bore you and focuses you on the action and exploring the world without constraining you too much.

So what it essentially does - is both - Tries to put boring conversation that give you 5 options to investigate and then asks you to go to A to kill 5 Bs and after you are done - it just gives you "THANK YOU". No reason for why you asked those 5 questions - the npc will never talk to you again apart from to say "Hi, inquisitor". Nor will anything you did for him matter beyond you getting some xp and some influence that aren't even needed as you can just as easily buy them from a merchant in a 100 times bigger quantity.

So I felt like I had no reason to play this over wow. The fact that I felt that way should tell you just how unimaginative the side quests are.

I haven't seen other people complain about it much, but it bothers me a lot. Where are the quests that feel meaningful? Like the quest in the DA:O Alienage where I had to deal with a bunch of slavers? Or the quest where you had a chance to help out an elf by taking his virginity or to help him get a girlfriend? Or in DA:2 which many said was a bad game - the side quests included you dealing with a criminal who was mentally insane and thought demons were telling him to kill girls because they were beautiful. Or where are any sidequests at all that influence main story? They did that in mass effect - where if you screw up certain amount of sidequests - alliance between Geth and Quarians becomes impossible. Or where you actually had a chance to let the cerberus bomb explode - by entirely ignoring that piece of content. Thus dooming hundreds of krogan.

May be I didn't get that far in the game? But I'm 70 hours in and I'm running around some yellow coloured halla to try and get its AI to go where I want it to go... I'm really not enjoying it at all. I don't know if its because I'm a completionist and don't feel happy until I clear every single quest in a location, but in no other game did it feel like too much of a chore. Not even in WoW.

I wanted a great story ala DA:O with some good roll-play, some stratagy and just a few meaningful choices. what did i get? a total of 4, 2 hour story missions, which are barely connected to the pathetically easy and lackluster boss fight that comes at the end. these four story missions are surrounded by 100's of hours or boring pointless make work that neither advances the story nor develops your character nor changes the world nor engadges the gameplay mechanics in a fun or innovative way. the game is a MMO pretending to be a story driven single player experience and failing at both.

i spent 44 hours playing before i every reached skyhold. i spent 95 hours before i reached the ending. i got 4 hours worth of story and made 1 choice which didn't matter in the end.

those four story missions are well done, but they are totaly dissconected from eachother.

there is a very awesome story mission where you play politician and mingle at a party. that would be awesome but after 60 hours playing i didn't know why what i was doing was important or who any of the people i was talking to were or what difference any of my choices would make becuase none of these characters had any part to play in the preveous 60 hours of playing. In this mission you stop a civil war, which i never noticed had been going on anyway. You end the influence of the big bad guy in the palace.... even though he wasn't actually doing anything or affecting anyone, or even really in the palace. and you choose who will be king/queen... even though this has no affect on the supposed war or you as an inquisitor, your organization and it's abilities or the story as it developed. and afterward i had to ask myself... why did i need to do any of this anyway?

the best part of DA:I was getting my castle, the short dialog between Morgan and Flemish (which was totaly for long time players of the series) and a short dialog with dagna about dwarven magic (which again was a returning character that had nothing to do with the story) and the after credit scene which i wont spoil.

those few parts i loved were awesome because they paid off choices from previous games and i seemed to have a real impact and influence on them. The castle was awesome because i wanted to get it ready to survive a siege..... surprise there is no siege... talk about checkoves handgun.

the boss battle was so easy and anticlimactic that i assumed that the game was trying to trick me. that the real ending was still comeing and trying to lull me into a falce sence of security.

i played for 90 hours and feel like i wasted my time. i stuck with it because i liked origins so much and have played that 100+ hour game 4 times and have not gotten bord. DA:I is just a dull game that tried to save it's great ideas until late game and then didn't deliver.

the combat is fun at early lvls when choices and abilities are in short supply and both you and enemies have few hit points to spare but by late game characters become absolutely unkillable. my sword and shield character could solo a dragon and take no damage without me touching the keyboard or thinking... it just took hours to whittle the thing down. the mages never got close to dieing and rogues are just as strong but need to be micromanaged. i think it is simply a lack of play-testing or balancing for late game.

On the PC, the controls are buggy and clumsy. Tactical? I hope it matures enough to become a joke.

DA:2 started the process of eliminating character customization. DA:I nearly completes its. Attributes are done. Skills are eliminated. And, taking a queue from DA:2, all armor looks the same - now including the main character's. Only the special ability is left to the player and that is largely compromised by a combat system that really only works when you let the game AI control your companions.

Mind numbing quest and useless crafting are the point of this game, not just flavor.

Combat is repetitive and tedious; all fights require the same thoughtless button mashing - you fight bears just as you fight Carta assassins, just as you fight demons. No strategy, no thinking, no excitement, just another chore to plow through as you attempt to gather ten hunks of meat.

The biggest shame, however, is the potential. It is there. Interesting characters. Big world. Grand scope. You really want DA:I to fly; not bury itself in some festering hole to rot. EA tried, they just can't execute.

Tactics for your party members has been gutted and is largely worthless, attributes are there for looks only, there is no customization of them at all. The skill trees are all bland and no special ones such as the last 2 games had. There is no more click to move, click to loot, auto attack, lock on target, no more healing spells in the game. Like I am utterly speechless that they could take such an amazing game series and just ruin it by turning into another clickfest action game like so many these days.

I have now watched EA ruin good developers after buying them up. Series like F.E.A.R. (not EA), SimCity, dead space, Mass Effect, and now Dragon age ruined, or turned into nothing more than mindless action games to appease all these young CoD/MW kids and their short attention spans. I'm sick to my stomach about PC gaming these days and I have been a PC gamer for more than twenty years now.

Despite the bugs and repetitive areas in DA2, I found myself enjoying the game & storyline. However, I will point out that it was the community not Bioware who produced a viable import fix and gained access to a lot of valuable, immersive dialogue. Orgins, as I'm sure users' have stated, is a masterpiece. It may be buggy as hell, but it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

    Now onto my actual review.

    Pros

    - Breathtaking graphics (despite the fact eye candy is possibly the sole thing developers focused on)

    - I enjoyed the artistic Tarot cards used on the party selection screen. They changed throughout he game and were based on choices you made and how they affected your companions. Some (esp Varric's) were especially haunting - even moving.

    - They listened to fans regarding the involvement of Heroes from previous games and unique dialogue based on choices/romance from their former games in the series.

    - The tavern music. Touching, haunting, gorgeous.

    Cons

    - Repetitive, mind-numbing "quests." I don't feel particularly comfortable acknowledging these grinds as quests. These tasks remind me of grinding in MMOs for faction/raid gear etc. Except, you aren't playing online with your guild gabbing away in mumble/vent/teamspeak while grinding/crawling through a dungeon. You are alone running around static area after area listening to your inquisitor's footsteps. This type of experience composes the majority of the game. I'm not kidding.

    - My companions felt like 2-D cardboard cutouts - as did my inquisitor. Their see-through personalities and bland, un-creative (not to mention rare) banter made me wish I was playing my lone wanderer in Skyrim. That game had a ridiculous amount of quests & content yet Elder Scrolls didn't sacrifice quality for quantity. The endless fluff/filler "quests" feel like chores - not even the companion quests were spared. For instance, each follower has 2 personal quests. However, only one per follower actually contained story content. The rest were the same - fetch x of this y of that z of the other thing so on and so forth. They didn't even try with Vivienne - both of her quests are grindy and mmo like and her brief cut-scene is ... I can't even describe it but let's just say my 7 year old niece could put their creativity to shame.

    - PC controls. I refuse to even try a melee class. I found some decent tricks for my archer & mage but I can't imagine a warrior or dual wielding rogue build would be playable.

    - Jumping puzzles. Maybe it's less frustrating on console, but who in their right mind puts a jumping puzzle in a tactical, story based RPG?

    - We all know Bioware failed to patch numerous bugs in both former games. However, there were always ways for you to set up your parties' tactics to account for combat glitches. Even without user-generated fixes, it worked reasonably well. Some modders who were far more talented than myself published combat fixes and/or tweaks to the system that made it more enjoyable. Well, users no longer need to fret over followers failing to listen. Now we have a tactical game with no tactics. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it. Trust me, it makes no sense. You can't even set followers to aggressive or ranged so your squishy mages and archers will stand in front of a mob's great sword and pretend to tank or camp out in AOEs. You can't order followers to use x ability under y circumstances so they'll waste their stuns, barriers, stealth, etc on random enemies or an ally who already has a barrier. Then when you need said ability, well, too bad. Warriors can no longer be ordered to intercept enemies attacking your ranged followers. They have 2 options:
    1) mindlessly attack your ONE target
    2) stand next to your controlled character to *guard* him/her. In reality, the warrior just stands there being useless.

    - The "puzzles." First they aren't truly puzzles. They remind me of team-work exercises we had the kiddos do in 3rd grade. The most complex one I came across was "everyone light the fire at the same time." However, it took me 2 hours to complete this simplistic puzzle because the *HOLD* command is broken and followers randomly decide to run off and do their own thing.

    - This game confuses annoying for difficult. There are examples of frustrating, ridiculous scenarios across the board but I'll focus on the blatantly obvious ones. They have certain mobs (terrors esp) who repeatedly knock your party down. Normally, you would be able to adjust your party's tactics to account for this but, well, tactics were removed remember? Not to mention the fact – it doesn't really matter. The ability barely does any damage but “Terrors” are one of the most frequent mobs in the entire game and they will force you to lay there doing nothing over and over and over again. Sound like fun to you?

That concludes my con list. The rest I'm not comfortable listing as either positive or negative because it depends on the audience. However, I have a difficult time picturing anyone enjoying this game who hasn't read the books and played through DA2 DLC. The entire game is based on content from the book series and that one DLC. For me, the fact I had so much background on characters alleviated the monotony. In conclusion, the game is... boring, uncreative, and I find my attention wandering constantly – and this is coming from someone who can tell you which NPCs are mangling elven pronunciation. It took a lot to drive me away.

Connection issues, Quests that are literally fetch this and that and doesn't contribute to the main story line, and also a paper thin character development. Such a let down from Bioware. If you want to play Dragon Age, stick to the first two. Dun waste your moolah on this one.

I really hate those boring sidequests, but I gave them a try. However, in this game I cannot even do many of those as some areas are locked for certain level. And why the hell they put 12 or whatever level monsters in a starting area? I wanna leave it as fast as possible, but game makes me come back and deal with those rifts and demons when I level up! And I can`t even get to some places as moving around is so complicated. People said "leave the Hinterlands". I did. Same stuff all over the world. I wanna do thngs and move on, not backtrack! And I have to force my self to play this. I hate when there is too much stuff going on and I lose track of things. Those areas on war table - I`ll forget what I haven`t accoplished in some of those. OK, I think many people find it great to explore every inch of theese kind of games, but for me it`s nightmare. It seems like there is interesting stuff to see and to do, but all theese will have to be done later. I don`t wanna go back later! I wanna just move on and experience the story. Expand

It is so boring, that I stopped playing around 20 hours in, left it for a month, came back and could only stand to play 4 hours before quitting again. I really want to like this game but it has no redeeming qualities. It is a adventure MMO with very light rpg elements thrown in just to be able to label it an RPG. Customization is narrow and the story... oh my god the boring story and worthless characters. Imagine the worst MMO you ever played, with forgettable characters, cheap fetch quests over and over, meaningless plot development, and classes with "I win" buttons. That is DA:I to the letter. Even graphics, which are supposed to be incredible are ugly except maybe the environment. I hate the shiny finish everything has but I will let that go. The worst part of this game is gameplay. DA:I forces you into a story that you cannot really influence. You play it their way or you are SOL. For instance, in the winter palace, they actually put a timer on you to finish the quest when all I wanted to do was kill everyone in the palace. I actually wanted the assassins to win because I hated the other side. Do you have a choice in the matter? Nope. This is why it does not feel like an RPG. Nothing you do matters regardless of choice and the entire plot is very linear despite trying to fool you with a plethora of side quests and large psuedo-open maps. You either do as you are told or you lose. Back to gameplay, Mages and Warriors are poorly balanced. Mages can beat the entire game on any difficulty with 1 button (maybe 2 in case of emergency). Same with warriors. Rogues are absolutely attrocious because of all the melee AOE enemies in the game and their lack of survivability. Their only choice is to be archer which is fine to stay alive but they are so weak that they cant do anything on their own. Enemies get stuck while getting attacked, and so do your allies. You allies do not follow commands when told to do so. There is no strategy at all in this game. Crafting is worthless so far (25 hours in and the stuff i found is much better than anything I can craft). The loot system sucks the big one.

I have nothing good to say about this game except that it works and does not crash very much. I wish I could get a full refund.

the launch of their multiplayer was actually pretty fun but I had to leave close to 40% of the MP runs (as a result of a key failing to drop, a known bug that has not been resolved). The response rate on the official Bioware forums is very lacking, compared to their personal unofficial subreddit page (meaning they invest more time at the reddit than the official bioware forum). If you are looking for balanced multiplayer experience, this is not your fantasy MP experience.

The story itself is the least compelling it has ever been for the Dragon Age universe. Without spoiling much, it just felt like you were going through the motions. None of your decision actually felt like it mattered. Unlike in Dragon Age origins, you did not have an origin story, a reason that took you to the main event in the game. You were given a Ptarrot card with your background that is very flimsy at best.

The character creation is lackluster for Qunari. You want long hair? No. They give you very short hair, and it looks like an oiled dolls hair from a action figure. They can make the hair of a horse fly up and down with physics as you ride in the wind yet you cannot have living hair as a character?

Looking for good combat? Nope, don't count on your ranged characters to stay where you tell them to stay in combat. They have this "Let's stand in the bad" mentality which costs you your healing potions, one of the only options you have available to recover missing health. They simplified spells down toward glorified archery (drag and drop sure, but your spells will hit barely as hard as the melee hack and slash your rogues and fighters. Reaver crits for 4-5k damage a swing, no spell comes close to this. If you play a mage, plan on being a barrier caster and something else utility because frankly your character is just there to look like he's doing something. Mages used to be a core element in your group since DA:O but not anymore.

Remember the dark setting they had for DA:O? Not so much in this game. political correctness killed anything truly unique about this game aside from the LGBT friendly characters (Which are the only saving grace IMO of the game, the conversations are funny, if they happen.. There is a bug that has yet to be fixed where you can have no dialogue for hours on end).

Myself and I imagine quite a few others felt that this game was truly limited in scope. They promised us quite a bit at E3, "a pc game, for pc gamers". No, the controls are much more friendly console gamers. They limit you to 8 ability slots! Who does that to PC players? Tactical cam! remember that from DA:O and DA:2? How expansive that was, gave you good angles on the battle field. Not in this game. You can only lift maybe 7 feet off the ground. There, you can maybe see two people fighting but the battles usually range out quite a bit if you have flighty despair demons. The controls in tactical camera are not so responsive, AI doesn't seem to know how to remember a command you issued, like "Hold here" does not work at all! 2 seconds later, he's on top of your fighter that has the big dragon breathing in his face.

RNG is a big factor in this game too! 1000 schematics, they don't tell everyone however you have to get your schematics from chests. They all have a low drop rate% too. So good luck crafting that badass set that you were wanting. I thought RNG was supposed to keep players playing longer for games they pay subscriptions too. I did not buy DA to play World of Warcraft. I have that game separate for a reason! You'd think, they wouldn't try to pull this on their fanbase, but they did.

Have a bug? Reporting it on the forums, become ignored for a few months only to get unprofessional responses from the developer team itself. Someone recently flat out called someone who regularly makes videos for them a flat out sneaky liar. She never apologized for that remark. They just shut down the thread and banned the person who had the constructive video of the state of affairs for the multiplayer community.

I will reiterate that the characters in the game are the only saving grace this game has to offer for a true DA:O fan. It's so, stuffy, in Thedas now. A good story should have everything in it, the highs and the lows, as well as the awkward humor that went along with it. Not anymore, and I'm sad to say this company has lost its edge on good story telling. It's a politically correct universe, that feels forced in every sense of the word. I really hope that they go back to their roots in the future, because the next game I get from them, I will be extremely wary of, if at all. I would not recommend this to a friend.

The quests, besides the main, are VERY VERY boring. Go get some plants, some materials and get back. The Universe is big, but really empty and filled mostly with useless stuff.

The war room, which could be such a nice tactical perk, is actually absolutely useless as well, and mostly a waste of time.

    The combat is very repetitive.

The makers tried to combine Skyrim, WOW, Diablo and story into one and failed on all accounts. The only good thing in this game is the gorgeous landscapes, which unfortunately were wasted... Very sad.

DA:I is worse in everything, compared to DA:O and in almost everything in comparison to DA2. I cannot even begin to say what is wrong with this game: it is a damn console port, combat feels clunky, it is virtually unplayable with keyboard and mouse. Tactical camera is there just so the developers can say it is there, it does nothing, but the game is so basic and easy you do not need it anyway. There is no click to move or click to loot, you basically have to go to every object and click on it. The world, although beautiful, feels lifeless and empty and the story is confusing. At times I did not even know what I have to do in order to progress in story, so I just went to an area, closed rifts and grinded sill, stupid and redundant side quests and that opened up the main story progression. The characters are not memorable at all, I will never forgive Bioware what they did to poor Varrick. There is no sense of progression, because all skilltrees are just not interesting and you end up filling everything anyway. But again, it does not matter, because the combat is not challenging at all. There is no excitement when opening chest or looting fallen enemies, because gear is simply boring in this game. It would be an eye-candy, but alas, all the characters seem like made of vex and what the hell is going on with hair? It sits there in place just like a damn helmet. Avoid spending money on this cash grabbing fraud, which is, naturally, the way that EA does things. Dragon Age and Mass Effect were the only games I bought from EA, but now I can safely say that I will never buy anything from EA again. Avoid! Expand

This game deserves all the bad reviews it gets. Some may not be that eloquent and others may not present good arguments but you only have to read a few other reviews to understand why so many fans are unhappy with DAI. I was so excited for this game but nothing prepared me for the massive disappointment that it ended up to be. I am a huge Dragon Age fan. I love DAO with a passion and I also enjoyed DA2 very much despite all its obvious flaws. The thing I love about those two games is that it had a very compelling storyline, interesting PC, intriguing and likable NPCs with an enjoyable combat. With DAI I feel like all of that went down the drain.

The controls in this game are terrible on PC because it's an obvious console port. The UI, specially in inventory, is not PC friendly. Things like click to walk and click to loot are no longer there and auto-attack was also not present until recently when they decided to patch it in because of the fans outrage. The best part is that they said in a video that DAI was made specifically for PC. They also said the tactical camera in DAI is exactly like Origins. Laughable at best. This "great" tactical camera of theirs has no edge scrolling, bumps into every freaking object and it constantly gets stuck on cliffs, fences, etc. It's completely useless indoors because you can't see past the ceiling, so basically you can't see sh*t because it's so close to the ground. And even outdoors, trees and buildings can get in your way.

The combat is just terrible and incredibly limited. Mages suffered a complete downgrade, all the variety of spells we had are gone. And remember those badasses, scary enemy mages that could wipe out your entire party in seconds? In DAI, mages are these weirdos with flying books who constantly spam fire and ice mines and that's it. Everything looks like a circus show, with flashy lights everywhere. Then there's the stupid AI. The "hold position" command is the most infuriating thing. You can send Solas to a top of a rock to stay away from melee fight and tell him to hold position but as soon as you change characters, he will run straight to the middle of the fight. You have to constantly babysit everyone otherwise they will chug down all health potions within the first 2 seconds of a fight and then get themselves killed another second later. And all of this happens because there is no tactics! A complete downgrade from the last two games. We also can't choose attributes for our characters, the game does it for you. There is also no class diversity, no more archers or dual wielding warriors, mages can't even pick up a sword. Then there's the slots limit, only 8 skills! You can't even access your spell trees during a fight, same with changing weapons. And don't forget the 3 potion slots and incredibly limited health potions. Oh but wait, there's more, no more healing spells! Because you know, they want us to feel "challenged" or something! So they expect us to just ignore the fact that healing magic randomly disappears from Thedas all of a sudden.

Everything else, story, characters and the Inquisitor are just mediocre. The Inquisitor is this complete blank slate that has no personality, no background and no connection to the villain. They are just this random person who fell out of the sky and suddenly became the savior of the world. And because they are the leader of this big organization you can only have diplomatic dialogue choices, no more being a smartass or plain evil like the warden, or being sarcastic like Hawke. The main storyline is cliche, the villain is cliche, just the typical maniac that wants to destroy the world because "muahaha evil". There is no real struggle, everything is handed down to you, there are no consequences, no one dies or suffers, everything is rainbows and butterflies. The so called villain disappears in the beginning of the game and let's you destroy all of his plans and then shows up at the ending only for you to kill him with only 3 people at your side in a 5 minute ending. Completely rushed and anti-climatic. The worlds are empty, static. NPCs are like statues, they show no emotions and I believe part of that is because when you are exploring these huge worlds and interacting with NPCs, you don't get a single cutscene. Because of that I felt really disconnected from the worlds and NPCs. The worlds are also filled with filler quests (go fetch this, go kill that) and are overwhelmingly huge. They have nothing to do with main story and they are there only for exploration purposes, not story. Generic mobs constantly spawning 5 seconds after you killed them. Companions overall feel very weak, I felt like the game didn't give me enough opportunities for me to feel something for these characters. With the expecting of a couple of characters, I feel like most were forgettable, just like everything else in this game.

The controls are useless, the combat is inane, the side quests are mind-numbing. I was hoping that after DA2 and ME3, Bioware would look to return more to the original DA:O , but they sadly chose to try to be an MMO pretending to be an RPG and failed. If you like the previous DA titles, it is unlikely you'll enjoy crap of want to be great game. Bioware/EA had some great ideas, but it's almost like they went "Skyrim sold a lot let's make DA:I more like it to sell more, while completely ignoring our loyal gamer base." I'm done with Bioware, I feel like they pulled a bait and switch. DA:O was such a great game, with a huge amount of replayability. This game, I can't even make it through a single playthrough. It is one of the worst RPGs I have ever played.

I enjoy being able to set character behaviors ahead of time so that my AI isn't running around like they don't know how to fight. This could have been avoided if companion AI wasn't terrible, but it is.

Also, what happened to party banter? Unlike Origins or DA2 where much of the banter was triggered through area-specific triggers, DAI feels completely random. I've gone hours at a time without hearing banter from my party. Aside from their abilities, you may as well stick some random soldiers with me, because that's what it feels like at times.

The hundreds of side quests are very shallow. In previous games, you got full cut scenes and dialogue for every quest. Now, someone tells you they need help and then the conversation ends. You don't even get to say yes or no. It's awful that you're trying to find a cow when you're the Inquisitor! Dragon Age: Inquisition is like playing an MMO all by yourself.

Putting repetitive side/fetch quests aside, there is one issue that bothers me more than anything: Inquisition really lacks in the story/character development department. Every character is terribly flat and lifeless and I didn't make a single connection to any of the main/side characters. I would have preferred less, but more meaningful quests. It's all about quality over quantity.

I'm actually currently downloading Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition for only $7.49 on Steam right now, which is waaaaaaay cheaper than what it is on Origin. I'm more excited about my 7th play through on Dragon Age: Origins than I am even thinking about finishing Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The only reason I'm not scoring this game as a 0/10 is because of the graphics, which are a far step up than previous games.

It felt good for the first couple of hours, but the after that... Yes, this have some really nice graphics... but... Here are some straight points.
1.- Your main character feels empty... I thought It was because the appearance I gave to it... but was more than that...
2.- Apart from some guys training, all the NPCs are static... I "forgave" that in the previous games, as in the Mass Effect serie, but in a game launched in the fourteenth year of the 21 century? Even in the Witcher one, the characters are walking around and even run when it is raining... And that leads to the next point...
3.- Static environments? Always the same hour of the day (per scenery), allways the same weather? 2014... Really?
4.- I read people saying this game was made to use with a game controller, not with keyboard and mouse... Wrong... I used a 360 controller and the camera also stinks with this... it gets stuck everywhere all the time... Good is really bad. And you can't even alter the distance in-game (just modifying a config file).
5.- Boring... meaningless sidequests... everything have been told about that.
6.- Confusing maps... You can try to go from point A to point B and choose a route just to find (after many battles on the way) you can't pass through there. I can understand that could be a tactic in small maps, if you want them to seem bigger... But this maps are already really big... why to do that?
When I was about the 60% I stopped making side quests... almost at the end I just lowered the difficulty because I just wanted to finish it so I could wipe it from my hard drive... It left me no good feeling when I finished it... (the last time I felt great and excited after finishing a Bioware game was with Mass Effect 2)...
Is logic there are people who liked it... There is diversity in the world... But I'll never trust on critic's reviews to buy a game. I'll just check the gamers opinions.

Good idea. Bad realization. Bugs in main quest (In Hushed Whispers can't collect 5/5 red lyrium shards), need reload previous saved game. Also very many collectibles that overload game. Bad battle control.
    Bioware bad job.

Wonderful tactical gameplay of DA:O is downgraded to a 'pew-pew autoattack' style. Control system is simply terrible, the only way to enjoy the game is to lower the difficulty and kill everyone in 1st person mode by mashing 1-3 buttons.
Which is not enjoyable for these who like difficult tactical combat.

since they started to "consolize" RPGs, they started to kill it, now we only receive Action games with some RPG elements from AAA titles

The game is terrible as anyway.
    - Graphics is good enough and nothing interested.
    - Gameplay is hard and confusing.
    - Characters creation is really bad, they are ugly no matter what you do to the character configuration.
    - They don't optimize for Mouse & Keyboard for PC version. Why don't they give us the normal camera control as The Witcher, Mass Effect or any FPS, TPS games

But the biggest flaw is the designers decided it's a good idea to place lots of mountains (with things you want on them) everywhere. You spend hours trying to find a way up, jumping in just the right place and timing. I'm 40 hours into it and I'm ready to give up. As others point out, the controls aren't designed right. Why do I have to walk right up to something to pick it up - isn't 3 feet away good enough? All in all, it's the Diablo 3 of the series. Either you like the style (and quirks) or you don't. I clearly don't. Expand

The animation in some cut scenes is a catastrophe. Even DA2 did better. Poor skill tree, you've been cut with an axe. There is no combos for mages. Some places there is a sound direction that's broken or replies of characters a broken. Even in the beginning of the game I have no sympathy for the main character - it's a zero compare to the DAO:O. It is a fan-service date sim (nothing wrong with the idea, but characters are cliche). With worst MMOconsole mechanics - dull quests and cut skills.
I bought it in 2014. I made a refund. Now I played it partly and it is still so bad that I made an account here.
2 stands for some characters. And only for them. The game is empty

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is part 3 of DA series but is worse than DAO. Not support for PC console, modding are difficult, story not connect with part 1 and 2, You think this game make connect because it can be import data from old part but it's unnecessery, character every part is different MC. When you play you will feel it is something mix and try to copygame play between Assassin creed, witcher, why they tries to copy other game when they have the great story and gameplay from DAO. The normal score for the game should be around 5. I gave it a lower number to compensate for the astroturfers. That said, i will summarize why this game is mediocre and not worth your time.

First, let me begin by saying i grew up with Bioware RPGs. The Baldur's Gate games are some of my all-time favourites. I have played every single one of their games. I have extensive RPG experience

First, let me begin by saying i grew up with Bioware RPGs. The Baldur's Gate games are some of my all-time favourites. I have played every single one of their games. I have extensive RPG experience in general, i have played all of them, so you can rest assured i know what i am talking about.

It is obvious if you are paying attention, that this game was originally meant to be an MMORPG. Its whole structure betrays this. Tons of grinding and boring purposeless sidequests. Boring combat mechanics.

The character system is bland and uninteresting, controls are atrocious, story is meh, and the game should have been half the length, at the least. This game is cancer with keyboard and mouse, you should play it with a gamepad.

The open world is also a scam. This is no openworld. Large areas? Sure. But large empty areas just for the sake of large empty areas are not a pro, but a con. Witcher 3 did large areas right.

All in all, this game deserves a 5 for the graphics, which are stellar, the music which is great, and the voice acting which is more than enough. As an AAA product, it is a decent effort, and it is clear tons of money have been poured into it. But as an RPG game, is a waste of time, boring, and forgetable. You won't miss anything if you never touch this. Just pass on this one.

Despite numerous shortcomings, the new BioWare project is undoubtedly worth your attention. One of the best RPGs of 2014.
