And it is last game i'm buy from bioware. And i can explain why.
Minus one point for every bad thing in game:
    1. Controls for PC is bad.
    2. Tactical mode is just awful. It is actually almost unusable if you compare it with DAO. Even DA2 was better in that sense. Camera is too close.
    3. Language restrictions. I cannot buy game without localization in my country.
    4. And localization is bad.
    5. Anyway I buy game with original sound/text. And for some characters voices are bad. For main character - you have only two option of sound (and they not so different). Some NPC have bad voicing. Like very young-looking and small templar commander Lucious with strong bass voice). It is ridiculous.
    6. Too much black skinned people in game. It isn't realistic. Why in middle-age setting in the snows half of population is black? Why it wasn't so in DAO? I for more in-game options but mixing people of all races in fantasy game only for show - it is bad taste. If in ME it was ok - because all people was mixed in the future - here it is very dumb and unexplainable. Just imagine Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings but hald of characters is black. Actually where is black elves and black dwarfs and anyway - why black and not Asians? Maybe because Asians don't complain about equality?
    7. Same with romance options. Bioware want to show how it is ok to be gay and how gay equals with not-gay people. And they show that equality in ... number of romance options! But it is exaggerrated. Anyway it feels more like lesson about equality than like good plot. I do not complain about gay-options at all. But in DAO it was implemented very good. And here and on DA2 it is added just for making a point. They devs. They can make all game about gays and it can be good game.
    8. Depth of side quests is bad. You feel like you play in MMORPG.
    9. Romance options - for straight male it is only Josephine she is pretty but very unremarkable as character. Cassandra is good comrade and well written but she is in her forties already and Sera is pretty ugly and dumb. And compare them to Merill, Morrigan, Leliana, Niishka, Lelliana, Jaheira, Aerie, Viconia. They was pretty and well written characters. Maybe Bioware wanted to make some un-cliched women but instead they just used another cliche. Anyway as straight man i have terrible feeling that gay-romance options is better in this game. Maybe it is done on purpose.
    10. Boring dialogs. Some better than others but most is boring. In big game like this it may be unavoidable and if it is only problem it is ok.

Short version: It is shallow game with good graphics but without soul. It is wrong too call it RPG. It is action with RPG elements. It is ported on PC very bad. Gay and bi characters added for approval of LGBT-community and black people added for equality but without any explanations. Atmosphere and setting of DAO is ruined.

I shouldn’t be struggling in order to try, actually try, to enjoy a game. The camera is bad, the tactical view, so to call it that way, also has issues with trees and other objects getting in your way instead of becoming transparent as they should (which is basic really, I shouldn’t even have to mention this). There are graphical issues too, like the animations, specially the facial ones, and the hair textures looking terrible even on max settings (they might actually look worse, I’m not sure anymore). There seems to be a few random crashes, not too many times, but not it’s ideal either, I don’t know why, as other games don’t crash at all or less frequently than DA:I. There are bit of welcome humor although the main story is fairly disappointing and there are many MMO-“bring me ten of something” quests that are just annoying to do. In the end this games would receive a 6/10 right now, if they patch the controls and tactic camera it would go higher to 7 or maybe even 8 if combat became somehow enjoyable, but I doubt it. Still since this is metacritic and scores are abused left and right, this game receives a zero from me. Expand

The combat literally consists of "Hold down the auto-attack key, every 30 seconds press 2-3 cooldown buttons"

The quests are 90% pointless busywork that couldn't even be bothered to be SOMEWHAT interesting.

This game is NOT designer for the PC. The UI is an abomination and the controls are a slap in the face. We were promised a patch from BioWare but it has been 3 weeks without so much as a word from them. The game obviously is better than 0 out of 10 but I want to take a dump on the Metacritic score after the way BioWare has misinformed the PC players and failed to fix the broken design.

The final nail in the Bioware´s coffin. Not sure if we could expect much after the last iterations of this company, how far the apple can fall from the tree hun. If you really want to experience a RPG I suggest Divinity Original Sin and the upcoming Pillars of Eternity, not this dragon age 2.5 console excuse of a game. RIP Dragon Age Origins.

They don't really understand logic, so why make it a droll unpopular game like chess?

Why I will tell you why. Because you built a fanbase of diehard Origin fans with exactly that - down-to-earth and relatable characters, tactical robust chess-like gameplay that didn't try to be like shooters and LoL and other things it wasn't, it was based on logics and wit, and last but not least a complex story where people resemble actual people. With thoughts, "plainness" etc. Relatable characters whose quirks were awesome because these quirks were not their whole character but rather intellectual unique behavior in spite of an otherwise ordinary world. Which still was full of intrigue, just not on every step.

In short - everything Bioware has made since selling their soul to EA has been piss-poor "marketing eye-candy" sold to kids that don't want actual logics-oriented gameplay nor worldbuilding. For shame.

Luckily, we have indie games, and the vastly superior Witcher

    3) When you hold down RMB to start controlling the camera, it immediately jerks the camera and your character significantly

It seems to treat wherever you hold down the RMB as if you held it in the middle of the screen and then moved it to that spot

Instead of every other 3rd person game on the planet that doesn't start moving the camera until AFTER you hold down RMB.

    4) No lock on to targets. You have to manually follow them. This is particularly bad because of #1 through #3

    5) Terrible lack of visual indicators of your current target. It is a very tiny + symbol in the middle of its body.

No circles on the ground. Nothing like normal.

    6) You have to hold down LMB or R to keep attacking.

    7) Only 8 ability slots. Terrible. Absolutely Terrible.

    8) No ability to swap between ranged and melee weapons.

    9) If you click on a lootable item from more than a few feet, nothing happens. Your character doesn't walk to it and pick it up.

    10) Searching is horrendous. You have to spam V to search. It highlights items for a half second. Brutal.

First, the character generator is easily on par with that of ME3 - just terrible! All pre-made faces look awful. DA1 and DA2 (also ME1 and ME2 but not ME3) had decently pre-made / stock appearances. Its even more shameful as the first NPC you see (Cassandra) has actually a very nicely made facial design.
Speaking of NPC as nicely as Cassandra looks, they completely messed up Varric and the Elf. Just terrible. In general the body designs seems awkward too.
Combat view/perspective is also terrible and the ability trees seem to be a further step back compared with DA1 (very good) and DA2 (decent).
The UI also seems to be much less intuitive and assessible than DA1 and DA2.
The biggest failure in my opinion is the attempt to put DAI into a realistically looking environment. Maybe it is because the realism is poorly designed (see faces/bodies/motions) but to me the much less realistic design of DA1 and DA2 seemed to work a lot better.
The bottom line is I really wanted to like this game but after just 2 hours I removed the disk, which really is a as bad an indication as it gets. Right now playing DA1 or even DA2 one more time seems to be more enjoyable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is right up the ally for the COD generation.. I don't understand for the life of me, why so many reviewers are tripping over themselves to give this garbage 9's and 10's.. What disappointed me the most is how nothing seems to matter, everything happens in isolation. In DA:O it had huge importance if you e.g. romanced and influenced Alistair in a certain way. Everything in the game seemed to follow this path, where every choice you made interacted with people and the world around them. Nothing you do in Inquisition affects the story whatsoever. For instance me siding with Celene didn’t affect Orlesian support, nor did my destroying the Darkspawn army in anyway weaken Corypheus, and any troops I lost to fighting the darkspawn didn’t affect my army’s performance when I attacked Corpyheus in the Arbor wilds. And Blackwall should be the one guy I thought would be pleased with me destroying a darkspawn army and my approval rating with him would skyrocket. It didn't affect him what so ever. Every single thing in this game is the definition of cliché. Bioware were never good at creating a thrilling or fun game play. "Not boring" tactical fights and running around finding "secret" stashes, in between the cut-scenes and dialogue, were the highest point they could get some of their games to. Anyone who played their old games did so because of the story and the characters. In DA: Inquisition both the game play and the story and characters are brutally degraded to a new level of low. This fact alone makes me... well not sad because I don't care about EA games, but it does bring some nostalgia for BG, IWD and Kotor in me. Which the game itself failed to do so. The game could be played at most once, and in a rush besides that, if the player can stoically withstand the horrible game play. Only to go through the lackluster story that doesn't bring up any emotion. The characters along the way are hollow and develop poorly if at all. I wont go into details because they are just a bad joke gone wrong and don't deserve your attention. Draw your own conclusions.
TL:DR You better play something else if you want to have fun or want a rich characters and a good story. If you have played and liked any of the following: BG 1/2, Neverwinter 1/2, Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim, Kotor 1/2, DA: Origins, even Kingdoms of Amalur, Fable 1 or whatever, I sincerely promise to you, that you WILL be disappointed by DA: I.

This took quite a bit of time, but like I said I assumed the developers of the game weren't an incompetent bunch of jackasses and since I couldn't save went into the further up area to do battle with the big creature who was waiting, but ended up losing (had used way too many potions much earlier and was under-leveled a bit too much). The automatic save of the game, instead of showing a single solitary modicum of a shred of competence and just putting me back right before this last fight, instead put me back at the start of ALL OF THIS LOSING ALL OF MY PROGRESS, and I was powerless to do anything SINCE THE ****ING SAVE IS ****ING DISABLED THE WHOLE ****ING TIME in this area.

The reason why I am so pissed isn't even for the most part THAT I lost all this time, but WHY. I just don't understand why, why I basically had to lose this time because some **** for no discernible reason other then to be a giant stupid dick made it so you count as being in battle the whole time, even when you are not and thus can't save. I even tried to save before going into the big battle with the creature, but no saving allowed. Why, why go out of your way to disable saving during this whole point, why go out of your way to disable saving LOOONG before a big and serious battle? When there are plenty of others things that you can do in the area before you even get to this part of the area. I just don't get it. It is absolutely ****ing retarded.

Maybe find more ways to make the game fun and engaging rather then finding ways to waste players time, that would be a start at bioware reclaiming their former glory. Just an idea. Screw you bioware.

The game is not a bad one, but it is not Dragon Age Origins either, which is the standard I expect every Bioware game to live up to.
The game feels somehow unfinished, not optimized and somewhat of a poor console port ( I own the PC version.)
I played for about 10 hours and I can say that the strong points of the game are: 1. The story 2. The graphics 3. Awesome character creator

    Weak or bad stuff:

    1. Clunky controls
    2. Bad console UI, too big, not scalable
    3. Very bad tactical camera,
    4. No Auto Attack - No auto loot. You have to go to a specific place just to attack or loot (so annoying).
    5. No action queue.
    6. The camera overall feels weird and poorly executed.
    7. Bad companion AI and the control of AI tactics is very much dumbed down.

As a standalone game this isn't a bad Mass Effect style game worth at least 6-7, but as the next chapter in DA RPG series it is appalling and deserves 0-2. That said DA 2 is crap and I played it for 30 minutes before giving up.

Just like the recent xcom game it appears that style takes precedence over substance with every aspect of the game streamlined down to make it "accessible".

Just like the recent xcom game it appears that style takes precedence over substance with every aspect of the game streamlined down to make it "accessible".

Combat is boring and has no tactics apart from button mashing. At a certain level you can pretty much hold the trigger until the battle is over.. Revenants are a joke - in origins you could guarentee one could annihilate your party single handed until you learned how to defeat them. Try simply clicking on one of the Baldurs Gates or NWN enemies...

NPC AI is woeful, you knock out an enemy and they ignore them.. Err, he isn't dead keep hitting him. And the NPCs.. God they are terrible - hearing Morrigan and then listening to Sera the fart joke making lesbian not elf; or Solas the elven version of Spock... Makes you miss the ability in BG to kill your own party members.....

The best comparison is probably Mass Effect 3 with the same fuzzy characters, lame carrying through of decisions, moralistic grandstanding and "inspiring speeches". In fact, it has the same saviour of the galaxy storyline.. Plus, this game probably uses the same engine and game mechanics as ME4 will. So in fact dragonage has become a reskinned mass effect 3... Perhaps they should have called the main character shepard to keep things simple..

Another annoyance with modern RPGs is crafting.. It has gone overboard in that one of the fun things about Baldurs Gate 1&2, DA:O was that you had to find the best weapons; they were legendary. Whereas DA:I like Elder Scrolls it is about farming dead dragons to get the ultamite bow / sword / armour. Instead of being a hero you are now a blacksmith / gardener / tanner...

The controls are dire as well.. Jump / Collect button combined? So you are in a fight and try to jump to escape only to pick up some cloth. Or you are trying to collect something and jump about five times instead. Same with talking to people / opening doors etc.

Character stats seem pointless as they don't seem to actually do anything? Increasing constitution doesn't seem to affect stamina (or is it willpower that increases that?). Don't know as it doesn't really matter.

The art direction also seems to have gone a bit strange, the best rogue armour (prowler) looks like something from pride and prejudice.. It looks really awful and the heavy armour, well it doesn't really look heavy does it (battlemaster etc). Plus, the armour magically changes depending which member or your party wears it.. WTF? Darkspawn look pretty bizarre and not at all frightening, they look like they are wearing chinese coolie hats.

Unfortunately, due to whatever pathetic attempt at optimization passed at Bioware it is practically unplayable. Before the moneybags with dual Nvidia Titans start whining, the fact that changing the graphical settings on this game changes almost nothing in terms of performance shows that Bioware made very little effort to properly adapt their game to anything resembling a range of machine hardware, I would indeed be extremely surprised if they even tested the game on anything other than the PCs used to create it.

This is a very sad state of affairs indeed, and hopefully Bioware recognizes that they have an obligation to put equal amounts of effort into opitmizing the PC release of their game as much as the console versions.

This is appalling for a series that found it's home on PC.

Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting, it's sickening to see such little effort accompany such huge promises and ambition, truly disparaging to the very core.

GFX aren't bad, neither is the sound - but it's the controls & combat that tear the heart out of the Dragon Age franchise. The PC version of this game is simply NOT made for a keyboard + mouse. Period. It's a badly consolized port in all but name. Can't remap mouse buttons, extra mouse buttons not supported. Can't "click to move" (because consoles don't have mice), can't "click to loot" (because consoles don't have mice), no mouseover ability tooltips on your action bar (because consoles don't have mice), no screen-edge mouselook (because consoles don't have mice), there's no key to select all party members at once (because consoles don't have keyboards), etc. Spot the pattern yet?

As for combat, the hyped "tactical view" is too close / zoomed in to be useful. Inside caves it's literally totally useless. It's also rather pointless since you now can't pause and issue commands to party members one after the other as the game auto-unpauses when you switch team-members! Order party members to attack someone in real time, and they'll take ONE swing at the enemy then sporadically run off doing something else at random. It is absolutely nothing like DAO's combat and the whole "we promise we've included tactic mechanics, honest!" obviously consists of little more than an adding an overhead camera on top of half-DA2 / half-console "action adventure" game mechanics in a failed attempt to fake "strategic depth" to woo both crowds (DAO fanbase + the "casuals"). That combined with replacing auto-attack / queued actions with mindless button mashing feels more like you're playing Gauntlet and the "arcadey" input controls now bear no resemblance whatsoever to Dragon Age Origin's...

It's so blatantly obvious DAO's perfect combat system (and 40x quickslot mouse-based HUD on a 1080p screen) has been stripped out for one single reason - consoles don't have mice - therefore instead of doing what they did with the original DAO and creating a seperate optimized PC keyb + mouse + 2ft HUD, now anything that relies on a mouse will be stripped out, and replaced with a Lowest Common Denominator "simulated console controller" input. Throw in oversized HUD elements in the PC version (that are obviously designed for 10ft TV's), and the massive negative backlash against DAI (both here and on a dozen forums including Bioware's own) really is justified.

Overall rating : 2/10 (+1 for GFX, +1 for sound & music, -8 for broken lazy consolized port and "designed for young children" button mashing "tactical combat" mechanics).

The narrative itself is about par for the course for Bioware these days, which is to say, something a 13 year old fan-shipper might write in her spare time and entirely uninspiring - even the return of fan favorites from Dragon Age Origins isn't a big enough tide of good will to lift the leaky boat of this once well respected company.

Multiplayer is pointless co-op (go play a real MMO!) with no PvP and gaudily offers you buffs for RL money, like health potions. Yes, EA has once again saddled another game with pointless multiplayer and micro-transactions.

I'm really disappointed in this series, especially considering it started out with such an excellent title. It's fallen so far that they are even retconning their own lore at this point, as I had to roll my eyes at Iron Bull completely disregarding the Qunari caste system laid out in the first game in what I can only imagine is some bizarre "politically correct" need to make a repressive caste driven warrior race seem "less sexist".

This game is going into the trash heap of "games I wish I had never bought", right next to it's predecessor and Mass Effect 3. I consider this title the final epitaph for what was once a respected and renown studio.

I don't generally care enough to write a review but the video "Dragon Age: Inquisition - Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers" gave me so much hope for this game. Maybe there would finally be a worth successor to Dragon Age: Origins, possibly my favorite game of all time. Alas, the video was a blatant lie!

Starting off with the release bugs, endless loops of party members falling off the edge of the world to die over and over again, forcing you to reload. Party skills being used by the AI at such time you start to wonder if the Nightmare difficulty level only makes your party AI stupider than on other difficulties.

These bugs however, are nothing compared to EVERYTHING related to the tactical camera! First off a bug (which still hasn't been fixed) changing characters actually focuses the view onto that character. This makes every attempt to setup the otherwise horrible tactical camera pointless as it constantly resets.

Oh, yes horrible tactical camera and this isn't even a bug! It's the worst excuse for a tactical tool I've ever seen in a game, you can actually zoom out further when you're in third person mode.

Continuing into the tactical mode, this is where the game designers have outdone themselves compared to even DA:II. You can't queue abilities. Doing things which aren't skills, such as reviving or closing a rift (which you will do quite frequently) can't be done if you select another character during the action.

Actually! It rarely works even then, most of the time you have to switch into the "action mode" and hold down the mouse button being unable to do anything else while waiting for the seconds to pass. Doing this during an intense fight with high level enemies can easily wipe you out.

I say you can be wiped out, but that isn't really true, you can always run away from the fight with your last conscious character, your party will follow you by falling from the sky once their unconscious bodies have been left too far behind. Following this they will regain consciousness and you can generally heal up and return to the already weakened rift/enemy group.

Mob AI! Forgot this gem, if you just make your characters hold their ground, you can kill most melee enemies from a distance by just spamming your auto-attack from afar as they will not rush at you nor take cover. Not always true, but often enough for it to become annoying.

Moving on to the new healing system, it's not horrible after you get into it, but it does make playing the game on Nightmare rather tedious. Not often do you get through an encounter without losing some health. By making sure the only way you can heal is via the dumbed-down potion system, you are constantly forced back to the main camp to refill and then walk an empty path for minutes at a time.

Made for PC Gamers... Returning to this straight out lie, this is the worst PC port since Skyrim. Gone is the walk by clicking option, looting now forces you to painstakingly walk up to within a step of the loot, that is if you don't accidentally attack instead of loot. I swear I've spent 2 hours of my 30 hours in the game trying to get to the point where I can get at my loot.

Again returning to the tactical camera, would you like to interact with that rift? "Yes I would, very much so, I close rift at least a few times per hour." Well you CAN'T! Ok, you can but fidgeting around with the camera so that it looks up on the rift takes a minute and isn't possible it the ground around you is flat.

With that, let's return to the AI, I forgot to mention the way it moves while you're not giving it orders, not that you'll be giving it orders anymore a few hours in. Since it won't do what you tell it to anyway. What it will do, is suicide its way through every encounter. Armed with a crossbow, bow or staff? Why not head straight into melee range and get one-shot by this giant boss?

Getting to the good, which I will not be adding any points for, simple reason being, the main focus of the game, the combat, is awful beyond reckoning. The story is amazing, the companions are incredibly interesting and customization and crafting are a grindfest yet fun. It also looks pretty good.

If you're going to buy it, buy it for a console, play it on normal and only ever use action mode. If you can enjoy the combat that way, great, I'm sure you'll give this game a 10/10.

"Dragon Age: Inquisition - Made for PC Gamers by PC Gamers" I hope they patch the game to such an extent that this actually becomes true. No one would be happier than me to be forced to change this review score.

Finally, the Dragon Age servers can't be reached bug is still in effect as of writing this review, making sure I have been unable to import any of my choices from the previous games. Had the game not already been at a 0/10 this would've lowered the score further still.

    Tl;dr
There is no tactical combat, this is the worst PC port since Skyrim, the camera doesn't work, the AI is horrible and Nightmare is frustrating yet too easy.

"Will I play it again? Yes"

    Well I was wrong.... NO

I said in my review below I probably would finish the game. I have not been able to do that. The game is so boring, same thing over and over and over. No flow. It feels like it was a cheap fast way to make a game. If each of the different zones had different quest, and/or a themed storyline it would have been far better. I cant get passed the constant click, click, click battle either.

I no longer need to buy the game for my granddaughter or my son. I let them get on my computer and they played for about a couple of hours each. That's all it took. Both had loved the dragon age series before this.

    ----- REVIEW -----

I have over 40 hours played with this game, and I just had to stop. It became boring. The “different worlds” where the same things over and over. Will I play it again? Yes, in all fairness when I feel like hacking and slashing to pass time, I will.

It's the flow of the game. Dragon Age Origins was fantastic and the flow of the game would always keep you playing. The flow in Dragon Age Inquisition is not there.

As dendygar put it. TO MUCH SKYRIM and NOT ENOUGH ORIGINS.

I give Dragon Age Inquisition a 0/10. I will get to that below. THIS IS MY OPINION.

As a game in itself it plays like a single player MMO. The zones are graphical different but the quest and collections are the same thing. Find Shards, Solve the Astrarium (this is cool, sort of a rip off of Skrym), and numerous other collections. The story basically starts crawling after you get to the war table. If a tedious hack and slash game is what you like then this game is for you. Every zone is repetitive. So for this type of game I would rate it a 5/10, the 5 would be a 7 but the PC Controls are awful.

My breakdown of the game as a sequel to Dragon Age. 0/10

Does not feel like a Dragon Age story at all.

This is not an RPG. It is a single player MMO. As stated above the story crawls after you enter the war room.

Each of the open worlds are beautiful (sword coast ) but they have the same theme as stated above. Collect these, Find these, and solve this.

No Major cities that I have come across yet. Its all open worlds. The only major city is just a place for merchants and has very little area to it. I can not recall the name of it.

Having to scan for object. That is correct in order to find somethings you have to hit a key and scan for them. Some quest like find the wardens do this and the Beer bottle collections? Again this is my opinion I just don't like having to search and scan for things.

The PC interface as stated above is awful. Dragon Age Origins was for the PC. Now it seems EA/Bioware is giving the PC market the back seat.

Mages can no longer heal, instead they have a “wall” like buff. You have to rely on potions.

You no longer get points to put up character stats. Your stats go up according to the skills you pick.

Combat is the same thing over and over. No auto attack so you just sit there and click and click.

Mouse. You can not loot select or do anything with it.

Plastic Hair, Cartoon Portrait HUD and a Green Hand portrait for you. In a realistic world this really takes away from the game. It looks like the ripped the hair textures off an 80s game. Then took maybe a few weeks to make the Party HUD. So you have a cartoonish HUD over a realistic world.

Multi-player is not cooperative, it has nothing to do with the story. You are unable to play through the story with your friend

This could be the best RPG ever in the entirety of existence, and it wouldn't matter due to its unplayability on PC. The game is overly saddled with poorly written code that is unnecessarily devouring computer resources. As long as this issues remain, this game is as good as a movie from Uwe Boll... which is to say not at all.

What about the rest, push to talk button in multiplayer don't exist, so all players is talking on different languages, everytime some noise, screams etc, it's terrible.

Mouse cursor poorly visible, also you can't reach some corpses or loot, or maybe some chest, just by clicling on it. No, you have to approach it as close as possible and then click on it.

You have to toggle RMB (Right Mouse Button) to rotate camera.

Your weapons still lying in the air, you can call it "on the back", but it's not true.

Blurred textures, (mb low-res) even on max-settings (gtx 970).

No difference between consoles and PC in graphics.

Poor animations, they just copied it from DA2, it's not realistic.

And more you can read on bioware forums, and it's not the bugs, it's real DA:I that bioware made. I just waste my money.

This wasn't made for the PC and it shows. Just more of the same. It feels like an adventure game with rpg elements and combat tacked on as an afterthought. WHY GOD WHY?? ULTRACASUAL SINGLEPLAYER MMO WITH MULTIPLAYER CASHGRAB WHYYYY???

Everything is worse than Origins! How is that even possible??

This game is pure frustration on nightmare. Not because it's actually challenging but because NOTHING **** WORKS!

You will have 3 main enemies on nightmare:

    - terrible terrible camera, sweet mother of jesus i can barely interact with rifts when using this. It doesnt show anything! It's ultra zoomed in and you have to awkwardly move the middle of your screen to do anything.

    - NO usable Tactics menu! YOU GET 5 TACTICS OPTIONS WHICH ARE PRETTY MUCH ALL RELATED TO POTIONS AND YOU CANT CHANGE THAT!!! You cant tell your party any useful "if ... then cast / use ability -> .... " commands THEY SIMPLY DO NOT EXIST IN THIS GAME! DA FAK????

    - The AI is the dumbest group of idiots i have ever seen. Sure they will autocast their spells if you allow them.. but da fak!!! There is a spell named "Barrier" that gives a massive second life bar for a short duration to absorb damage but when does your AI companion cast it??? Not when someone in your party is actually dropping low on health ohhh no no way THEY CAST IT BEFORE THE BLOODY START OF THE BATTLE WHILE YOU ARE WALKING UP TO THE ENEMIES SO IT RUNS OUT BEFORE YOU HAVE EVEN TAKEN ONE GODDAMN HIT!!!

Seriously the combat is broken! Not fun at all pure frustration. Maybe if you play on easy and nobody is even able to die from anything ( Ohh btw there is a spec in the game that is designed so retardedly op that it solos nightmare difficulty by just tapping 2 buttons repeatedly! Just throwing that out..)

And the Story OOOHHHH MYYYY GOOOOD!
Imagine a world where everyone only says the most obvious things ever. " I am a healer. I am in need of herbs. It's dangerous outside so please collect them for me." Response: "Ohh so you're a healer and in need of herbs?" " Yes look at the list of herbs on the table"

^This is an adequate representation of all dialoge in the game even the story missions. Speaking of story missions.. The story in this game progresses like ever 4 hours with a single 15 minute quest that is more ultraobvious talk.

GOD ITS SOOOOO BAD. Words can not explain how bad this game really is. How much worse it is than it's predecessors (YES THAT INCLUDES DA2!!!!)

I have seriously waited to buy this .. read a billion of reviews most of which were positive and I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW ANYONE CAN GIVE THIS DUNG HEAP MORE THAN 6/10 . Geeeezzzz it's sooooooo baaaaaaad.

If you want to play a good RPG, buy Divinity Original Sin instead!!!

This game has the WORST AI COMPANIONS in a videogame i have ever seen.

Let me start by just saying that the AI can NOT in almost any case make it through a door after you. They are going to get stuck next to the door and get teleported after you once you made enough distance. In combat, as soon as you stop controlling them directly they will do everything they can to kill themselves
This game has the WORST AI COMPANIONS in a videogame i have ever seen.

Let me start by just saying that the AI can NOT in almost any case make it through a door after you. They are going to get stuck next to the door and get teleported after you once you made enough distance.

In combat, as soon as you stop controlling them directly they will do everything they can to kill themselves asap.

All of the AI commands are worthless.

Examples: You have 2 mages with a barrier spell enabled. They will BOTH cast it AT THE SAME TIME BEFORE COMBAT STARTS rendering one completely useless and the other one barely useful. This would have been an insanely easy fix if Barrier was cast one at a time once a character actually gets hit and not as soon as "combat starts" (i,e. weapons are drawn).

Next: There is a 2H warrior ability called block and slash setting this ability to preferred will cause the warrior to stand idle in block stance for the entirety of the combat instead of using it whenever he is being attacked directly.

Next: There is a tempest class ability called flask of fire that nullifies all cooldowns and causes all abilities to have no stamina cost at all allowing you to spam an ability over and over. I literally only had 1 other ability (long shot - set to "prefered") and after using flask of fire myself and switching to another character the AI DID NOT USE LONGSHOT more than ONCE.

More: The AI cant handle the "interact" command at all. If you try to "interact" with anything and then switch to another character ( even when staying in tactical mode! ) the "interact" will immediately be cancled and the AI will go back to auto attacks. Which is **** because "interact" is used to revive in combat and overload rifts and a few other useful things.

There are a lot, LOT more occasions on which the AI stupidity drove me to insanity but i'll just add one more:

There is a cave in the storm coast which you can cross (2nd camp from the top - going north). If you try to cross this camp from the south entrance there is an area where the AI is not able to pass through. Instead they will get stuck running into a wall left of it.
What makes this worse is that for some reason you cant even give move->hold position commands into the area behind it (even though its clearly meant to be passed through). If you try to nothing happens at all.
I tried for 10 minutes straight to get my allies to hold position then move one of them further in manually and hold position in the first place it was possible after this area. If i did not use hold position command at any point in time the AI instantly went back to walking against the aforementioned wall. They even found the way back to it all by themselves.

All of this while being assaulted by various mobs.

But not even hold position command helped. After switching to the 3rd character, the first i moved ahead simply got teleported back even though there was barely any distance between the two and proceeded to walk straight into the wall all over again.
I had to cross this particular cave by just running through with 1 guy letting the others die. Then get out of combat on the exit on the other side of the cave so my dead teammates got teleported to me and then go back into the cave from the north.

    Terribad!

Add a short boring story, gay romance only, MMO quest design... and a lot of paid reviews.

The first 30 minutes are ok, good even, the graphics are decent.

But as soon as you head to the hinterlands it turns to the worse, most bland, dull single-player MMORPG I have ever played. There's nothing like Baldurs gate, KOTR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age 1&2 in here. It's a soulless game with no direction, even Andromeda was better. It's the only Bioware game I couldn't play more than a few hours in, (Andromeda is the only other one that I've never finished) Because of the bland, super boring MMORPG design like in a single-player game, it's, without doubt, one of the worst RPGS I've ever tried to play. A complete waste of time, skip it, even if you get it for free.

I tried to ignore the fetch quests, I tried to salvage what interesting story bits were there. But they are everywhere, there's nowhere to run. You have to power through so much junk and filler to get to the good bits, it just not worth it, it's not an RPG, it's a time waster. Cerebral torture.

The only other RPG that is this bad is Kingdom of Amalur, dragon age inquisition is even worse. 0/10
Coming from a previous hard fan of Bioware.

What a piece of dogcrap. Forget the game I want whatever the critics were taking when they reviewed it. I have 42 hours played and half of that was spent in dialog and cutscenes. The other half spent in picking up crap littered every 15 paces. I got as far as skyhold after a number of character attempts to get into the game.

This game is literally an rpg with rpg elements. If you take a particular rpg as the rpg archetype e.g. Morrowind and compare it to DAI you end up with an rpg base with a mountain of rpg icing dumped on top of it. It plays like an mmorpg in the sense stuff is added to stttrreeetttccchh it out. The core elements are engh.

Dragon Age Origins: a campfire with your team around it with some dialog to advance the side plots and then you're off questing.

Dragon Age inquisition: A castle with your team scattered about and dialog and more dialog and before that ridiculous cutscenes and before that even more dialog. And a very pointless crafting system without any depth!? And stuff littered every 15 paces. It's difficult to make a coherent paragraph out of the paraphernalia that makes up this game.

The game can be summed up as a battle between yourself IRL and a sloth demon. That is the only approach I can think of to make anything of this game. It really is a tough nut to crack.

    {Update after 3rd re-roll}

The game is tolerable if you press 2 for every dialog choice and don't bother investigating. And then when you have emotion choices always pick thumbs up. That gives enough levity to carry through the story.

I re-rolled a confederate general Princess of Mars style so I can roll play my character with levity and get something out of the mess. Ignore pretty much everything on the ground that is text(loot and don't read) and not quest related except characters and locations.

That done there is a lack of good scripting for skills like barrier. You almost have to play your mage every pull until your melee close then drop barrier. You can't script poison weapons -> explosive shot. There is a tab target auto attack although it is not initially bound or part of the tutorial for some reason. You need it if you want to micro your melee out of tactics mode(which itself is poorly implemented but seems unnecessary outside boss battles).

The game is playable but the playability of the game is itself a metagame. If you can get past that hurdle then it plays somewhat similar to DA2 with more open environs and better graphics.

    {91 hours in}

Abandoned the game. Out of my rotation of things to do. The combat has problems which shouldn't exist for something from Bioware. Player collision makes melee rogues unplayable and archers are as boring as rpg combat gets. Melee rogues do have some combat depth because of how stealth works but connecting with the target is an issue and on top of that if you're fighting something that does melee aoe damage stealth won't give you a free dodge or anything to defend against the aoe like guard. And since the combat doesn't really piece together the other stuff very well and the other stuff is mostly a scavenger hunt for random paraphernalia and traveling on a meh mount that isn't particularly agile: it all as a whole doesn't even fall apart because the pieces never fit together. IMO this is Bioware's worst game. Way to clunky.

These crazy marketeers from EA / Origin are selling localized versions of game in many countries.
This means you HAVE TO play game with texts on your local language ( with bad / wrong translations ) and with English dialog sounds... It's super irritating. I've just returned game back to Orgin and recommend you to do the same ;)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game, simply put, is an unfinished mess and I advise against purchasing it at this time, in it's current form. I also advise against buying Dragon Age: Inquisition any time soon if EA keeps their present pace and disposition towards actually FIXING the problems.

There is apparently a fundamental coding problem that causes AMD Radeon as well as several Nvidia GPU's to "HANG" and cause a DX error. Overclocked processors also seems to have issue with the game. My system far exceeds the minimum requirements as well as the recommended requirements and I am completely unable to the play this game.

EA has already tried to say this problem is "SOLVED" in their "Answers HQ" site. They said an AMD Catalyst beta driver patch 14.11 would fix this problem. Untrue. They have since rescinded the "SOLVED" on that particular issue, but I see "SOLVED" popping up on other issues I know not to be.

There are also a host of other issues people who can actually play are having. They range from bonus items promised for the Digital Deluxe version not being DL'd to gameplay mechanics issues. The problems run the full gambit in between.

I can honestly say I have never been so excited for a game and then so let down. This is my first MetaCritic review and I am bummed it has to be a negative one.

Save your money, and save yourself some frustration on this one. I am going to ask for a refund and maybe a year from now when they FINISH this game I will consider it again for PC. Seems to make more sense to just buy it for a console though. I am now suspecting strongly it was intended for and written for consoles with PC's as a port afterthought..though that is only a suspicion as I have not actually been able to PLAY the game for more than 2-3 minute increments. I am basing this opinion largely on other consumer reviews I have read.

Does anyone else find it a little fishy this game got such RAVE reviews by critics without a whisper of any of these issues? Who owns these gaming review magazines and web sites I wonder?

The plot is horrible, charachters are boring, conversations are tasteless as coal. The combat is another story...it is simple button mashing with no tactical reasoning involved. It is very frustrating because there are no auto-aiming or a auto gap closer which was an okay feature from DA2.

Graphics are okay, but there are no facial expressions or different views.

It feels like a free MMORPG from 2008.

I never experienced anything like this, only in extremly rare good movies. Not only the story had depth, also the fighting mechanics, characters itself and their skillpath. The world itself made me want to know more.

DA2 was disappointing at first. Only this one city as location? I was wrong: 1 small city and 3 small recycled maps with a namechange. Absoluty no-go. Story was okay tho, enjoyable. I dont agree on the lack of tactic. The camera was very well done, I diddnt miss a thing.

The soundtrack and immersion in both games - very good.

    - - -

    Dragon Age Inquisition
I was excited for over a year since I heard of its release. I never preordered before but this is how it worked out for me.

The controls: Worse than Dark Souls console port, which I deleted straight away. I cant express how F*CKING bad this is. What idiots tested this on PC!?

The Story: Boring. Where are the heads of todays developer? The plot was the most important part once. The only reason its called Dragon Age is of marketing it seems. Very Few intersting parts, nothing cool or epic. It hurts to see another franchise ruined.

Voicing/Animations: Wow, just wow how bad. Its 2014. No expressions.

    + + +

The only 3 good things are following:
    Excellent character creation, next level
    Sountrack as usual
    Graphics

So, basically its not worth to play it. + Its an insane(!) struggle to fight against the camera and movement.
Everybody who gives DAI a higher score - stay away demon!
I wont give up because I hope Bioware patches the controls ASAP so it becomes playable.

Meanwhile 03/10 imo and pardon my english, very late.

This game is not playable at this moment on the PC, the frame rates are very inconsistent and there are large amount of stuttering. I was running this game on GTX 780, I was getting 20-40 frames playing this game on medium setting which is just unacceptable, I was extremely impatient and went and bought a 980, frame rates are slightly better but cinematic locks the FPS at extremely low level (30) which a ton of stuttering occurs on both the 780 and the 980... I worked around the game to get the frames to 60 Frames during cut scenes but there is no work around for the stuttering and extremely unsatisfying framerates playing this game.

The game is extremely clunky, the combat has took a giant step backwards. You have to mass click if you want to auto attack because on console that's normal for them, but they forced it on PC users which makes no sense and restrict what you can do in game. It hurts my wrist just playing this game. If you're playing a warrior and you knock someone back and you're holding down attack button because your hand hurt, too bad now they're out of range and you're waiting out a long period of pointless animations. If you're playing a range class, have fun spamming click button like you're playing minesweeper or something

No longer can you click and move because that doesn't exist on consoles. If you click anywhere your character does their attack animation which is very long so you're sitting there wasting time. No longer can you click on loot to pick them up because that doesn't exist on consoles so you're forced to run up to them and click open button which is so daft as to why they decided this should be forced on PC players. (Btw if you miss click you're attacking and waiting out the animation again). Used to holding down mouse button to change your camera angle? Too bad watch this attack animation for couple seconds. Can't see the rift because it's bloody in the sky and you want to change your camera angle? Watch this cool attack animation.

Oh, the AI is stupid, have fun issuing the same command for your party over and over and over again because they have some kind of short term memory problem and refuse to do what's ordered. Telling your ranged character to get out of melee range they will run back into melee range because of unknown reasons. Revive teammates? Haha I rather auto attack! Thanks computer.

The menu is unsorted mess, have no clue what is going on there. It's DA:O style with fair amount of items, but unable to sort though as it uses a weird DA:2 menu.

Extremely disappointed on how this turned out, it was a fear I always had when Dragon Age 2 came out. It was still good and improved on some parts but you can see it was departing from what made Dragon Age great. I thought I can patch everything with technology, bought new video card, bought a new mouse, bought a controller (Game doesn't recognize controllers on PC for some reason). Severity disappointed.
