Great game. Offers you more end game content than Diablo 3 did at launch.
It needs a bit of ironing out, but nothing gamebreaking.

Game is great, perfect? Of course not. Story is great for a Diablo game and most ARPGs. Its simple enough to jump in but still has some complexities for those who want it. Not in the same league as PoE or LE though.

If you like the Diablo franchise you will enjoy this. The haters just giving this game scores below a 6 are just angry man babies.

I was very skeptical going in after the experience of Diablo 3 launch but was quickly surprised at how smooth the launch was and the amount of content in the game.

This is a love letter to previous Diablo games, with the atmosphere of D1 and D2 but a modernised approach to the combat. The gameplay feels amazing, story has been fun to dive in and most surprisingly is how engaged I am

The game isn't perfect for sure but doesn't deserve a 0.

Pros - Difficulty is good. Never feel op like in D3. This isn't Diablo arcade mode like the previous entry. - Gorgeous graphics and locations. - Story is awesome - Skill tree and paragons requires you to think. Cons - Dungeons feels repetitive - Certains endgames activities need a buff to rewards. Whispers and helltides are fun

    - Certains endgames activities need a buff to rewards. Whispers and helltides are fun ideas but doesn't have as much incentive as Dungeons and are quickly left behind.
    - Farming renown for season will definitely be a pain but I understand the reason for doing this.

Overall great game deserving a 7 or 8. Trying to balance the trolls.

Diablo Immortal had Instanced PVP and leaderboards on launch. This game has neither. Both of those systems made Immortal worth grinding. I don't see how that game is F2P and this game costs $60+. I have no desire to even attempt a microtransaction in this game. It feels like I'm playing solo all the time. Why would I buy skins? Who would I show them to?

Fun to play for the story, but I won't touch it again unless they add more.

Simply put Diablo 4 is an enjoyable experience for both casual and (some) harder core players looking to have a bit of fun in an ARPG. This review is centered more on the casual side of this but I'll make a note for players who want to GRIND this game out.

    Story
    ---------‐----------
If you are a Diablo fan and love this game series' lore you will absolutely love this game's story. If you are new on the other hand I will say you may be a bit confused but there is something here for you to enjoy if you have someone explain things to you.
I'll say this it's good really good but it's depending on the lore of the series if you don't want to look into that lore you won't enjoy the story as much.

    Gamplay
    ---------‐----------
This is the act of playing the game and working with it's systems. The loop here is challenging but very VERY REWARDING and extremely FUN. It's tough but you can power through it!

The classes are all satisfying and fun too!

Playing the Barbarian you get a satisfying WACK to your attacks that you feel rewarded for!

Playing the Necro you watch as enemies that have been debuffed lose their skin and fall to pieces when you kill them!

As Sorcerer you watch as enemies may freeze and shatter or burn to death!

These are just examples but they have a great loop here and that makes the game worth the asking price!

    PvP
    ---------‐----------

PvP deserves a spot here its an optional experience and is an extraction based "gamemode".......it's better than every other Diablo (Not a big win)......but is unfortunately incapable of being balanced (Daze is stupid in PvP). Players will run from you when extracting which makes you feel like you've wasted your time going after them when they extract and it still let's them extract no blocking the extract. The level differences here are around 10 levels. Levels will win fights by default. Honestly would recommend not playing this as Blizzard said they would NEVER balance it.

    Hardcore
    ---------‐----------

As for hardcore players......this is where the game loses some points class trees are small and provide a decent variety of builds (More than most ARPGs!) but all of your power will come from 50+ and the paragon board which is fun but......can kill the experience when all you're doing is grinding levels. The grind is there if you want it but gear feels sorta rewarding......a unique is always an interesting grab but the scaling takes away from the power progression quite a bit in trade for playing online which imo isn't worth it with the minor changes made for online play.

Play if you want but don't expect POE levels of things to do that may turn you on or off for the game.

    Things to Note
    ---------‐----------

Shop isn't pay to win and the battle pass is not going to be pay to win. Shop is expensive and is not okay price wise. This takes a point off the game as this game is already $70! If prices were normal I wouldn't take a point off.

Game is Open World now which is a great change!

Mounts are to be noted here as the open world is great BUT there are barriers EVERYWHERE which makes traveling unfun in some cases (Sounds like a small gripe but I wouldn't note it if it wasn't worth noting.)

    Summary
    ---------‐----------
This game is a solid 8/10 with minor issues.
Game is a GREAT casual experience as for hardcore there are a few dependencies for entry as endgame is not shallow persay but is definitely a turn off for POE style players. Play it for the story stay for the gameplay!

p.s. as a very old diablo 1-2 player, I got a lot of fun and still really really like this game, if you are diablo fun you will get a lot of fun and you will spent a lot of hours in this game, but ofc I wish Dev's will add more complexity to the craft system and itemization.

Meanwhile I will put 8 points because I really believe that they add more and more in features in future patches and seasons, if not I will change it from 8 to 5.

by features I hope it will be:
    1. More complex itemization,
    2. More complex endgame crafting, because at the end the whole idea of this game its all around items.
    3. Maybe some unique league events like in PoE.

While it may not be without its flaws, the game manages to capture the essence of the Diablo universe and offers a satisfying journey for both new and returning players. Here's why Diablo 4 deserves recognition for its notable improvements and potential to evolve.

One of the standout aspects of Diablo 4 is its dark and atmospheric world. The game's visuals are impressive, featuring detailed environments that effectively convey the foreboding nature of Sanctuary. From eerie forests to desolate wastelands, each location feels distinct and adds depth to the overall experience. The attention to detail in the art design and atmospheric effects creates a moody ambiance that immerses players in the grim and treacherous world.

Combat in Diablo 4 is engaging and enjoyable, particularly for those who revel in hack-and-slash gameplay. The fluid animations and impactful abilities make every encounter thrilling, as you unleash devastating attacks against hordes of demons. The variety of character classes provides different playstyles to suit individual preferences, offering options for both close-quarters combat and long-range spellcasting. Although combat mechanics may not introduce groundbreaking innovations, they do stay true to the satisfying and addictive core gameplay that fans have come to expect.

Diablo 4 features an open-world design that encourages exploration and discovery. The vast landscapes are filled with dungeons, side quests, and hidden treasures, making each journey off the beaten path feel rewarding. While the open-world aspect is a departure from the linear structure of previous Diablo games, it offers a sense of freedom and adventure that breathes new life into the series. The day-night cycle and dynamic weather system add further immersion, creating a living world that evolves as you progress.

The narrative in Diablo 4 aims to delve deeper into the lore of the franchise, and while it may not be groundbreaking, it does provide an intriguing backdrop for your adventures. The storytelling is serviceable, with memorable characters and cinematic cutscenes that drive the plot forward. However, the pacing occasionally feels uneven, and the narrative fails to reach the same heights as some of its predecessors. Nonetheless, the story provides a solid foundation that sets the stage for potential expansions and future content.

While Diablo 4 has its share of strengths, it's important to acknowledge that the game is still a work in progress. Some areas, such as itemization, endgame content, inventory management and UI customization could benefit from further refinement and expansion. Additionally, occasional technical issues and balance concerns may arise, impacting the overall experience. However, Blizzard's commitment to ongoing updates and improvements gives hope for the game's future.

In summary, Diablo 4 may not be a flawless, but it presents a solid foundation upon which the franchise can build. With its captivating world, satisfying combat, open-world exploration, and multiplayer focus, the game offers an enjoyable experience that holds promise for the Diablo series. As updates and expansions continue to shape the game, Diablo 4 has the potential to grow into an exceptional addition to the franchise.

Gameplay is classic Diablo with many of its fun ARPG mechanics being enhanced if not perfected in the latest entry. It is also very easy for someone who has never played Diablo or any ARPG to pick up learn from the prolog and easily start experimenting with a build and different weaponry.

Classes mostly stem from the classes back in Diablo 2 which this game seems more heavily inspired by then the last entry Diablo 3. Classes seem so unique in their own right and their builds are also very customizable as well. From what I've seen most classes have 3-6 builds they can make on just one character. For example, I'm playing as a Druid who is a shapeshifter and uses the natural elements as spells. I could make a Werebear only shapeshifter build or Werewolf only or a combo of both and a combo of all of them combined it is very customizable to your own play style.

For the open world I think it makes sense for a Diablo game epically their move to a more MMO Destiny type experience where the open world has events and other players roaming around killing Demons! Many may see this as a negative but i see it as a positive especially sense the Dungeons the bread and butter of Diablo's gameplay loop are only for you or your party.

At the end of the day if you liked any of the Diablo's pick this game up especially if your newer to the franchise, I think many will enjoy it.

Anyways, is this game Diablo 2? No it is not. Is this game Diablo 3? No it is not. If you want to play a game like "boomer-ville" Diablo 2, then guess what? You can still play Diablo 2 (Resurrected even) and enjoy your "1-2 builds per class, killing Baal and Meph over and over" gaming session. People forget how repetitive Diablo 2 is just like all ARPGs. You act like that's not happening in those games still. Diablo 2 this and Diablo 2 that, STFU and move on.

Now, is Diablo 4 a 10 out of 10? Absolutely not, but it's definitely not a 0-4, either, hell even a 5. These whiners wanted something that was not Diablo 3 and they got it and they are still crying. They will cry until the end of time and review bomb things they can't comprehend. Because everyone is cooler and keyboard warriors on the internet, but I'd bet half of them can't put together a sentence and talk in-person.

Also, stop pre-ordering games. You don't want the so-called "trIplE A gAmEs tO tAkE my mOnEy" then stop pre-ordering them. You can't pre-order something and then cry that it sucks and ask for a refund. I be these are the same people who pre-ordered Anthem and Cyberpunk as well. You never learn do you?

Always online? It's 2023. If you don't have the internet then you have been living under a rock. Always online has been a thing since Neverwinter Nights in 1991, but people adored it. Ya'll are just adding it to the list of things to cry about because you joined the masses to hate on Blizzard who has done nothing, but make improvements to their culture and games.

Now the game; yes it is worth $70. You're going to put 70 hours or more into it and that's a measurement I go off. I know some think you need to only pay $10 for 5,000 hours of gameplay, its hard, but you'll survive darling. I see a lot of build-cryouts too. Guess what? You're gonna log onto Maxroll and pick the top tier build anyway, just like you did in Diablo 2 and as you still do in PoE. The game is a week old and you don't think there will be patches and build diversity coming? You obviously do not play games then.

It's not Diablo 2, its not Diablo 3, and it's not PoE. It's simply a new take on a cool series. You will have fun more than likely. I challenge you to not look things up and actually play the game yourself. Watch a streamer play it. Check out a friend's game before you buy it, whatever floats your boat, but DO NOT listen to the review bomb society because they can't get their nuts to drop who are going to farm the same things over and over for that one extra stat point on one piece of gear and scream "GG blIzzArd."

Bought a new pc to be able to play this better, totally worth it. Really enjoying the game just feels fun and powerful to play, not arcade like D3. Also enjoying the open world and new systems like gathering ingredients. Main downside is its hard to not play when I need to be responsible.

Diablo 4 is okay to play through the campaign, once. After that it's a disaster and failed to keep my attention. I rate a 6/10 only because of the campaign and enjoyable cutscenes. I understand the lower ratings due to horrible end game, weird game design and forced online play. Diablo IV suffers from an identity crisis and wants to be played as an MMORPG, without any of the rich features of a full MMO.

    What is good:
Story (the main story takes you from 1st city and gradually move to all other cities with interesting actions)
A lot of references to 2nd part (Meshif, Andariel, Duriel and so on)
    Open world
    New dungeons systems
A lot of generating activities in the world
    Video scenes and actor voices
New reputation system for all your fighters
    Sounds and music

    What is not good:
Balancing with autoleveling system. Im not really sure that this is only one decision for online games, they could invent something more interesting.
Online. You need ethernet connection for playing (even for main story, not additional actions). I don't mind against other players in my world, but servers lag sometimes and my ethernet connection sometimes breaking, so game returns my progress.

In general i really enjoyed the project like in 2005. Thank you, Blizzard.

    Cons :

-Extremely tedious to levelup in end-game

-Too much promotion for the in-game Shop

Always Online ? I agree on this one. It kinda sucks. I don't really want to see other players in *my* town and login in to play single player is lame.
Build diversity ? I'm seeing complaints of "there's only 10 builds". You guys are ridiculous. Did you already make those 10 builds ? Do you not expect things to evolve in the future ? Maybe give the game more than a week before dismissing it ?

I get that we want to compare this game with all the great games that came in the past, but you can't expect ALL releases to be significantly better in every aspect than everything else at launch.

Can it improve ? Of course.
Am I having fun right now and getting my money's worth ? For sure.

I played Lost Ark some and the money grab of that game made it truly unplayable. That was so bad, I quit playing all games for a little while.

The BAD: Going to get this out of the way first. The biggest detractors are easily the quality of life issues. No doubt, a separate gem bag should have been obvious from the moment they started coding the game. I also like map overlays from other games, including D2. The ability to search for items by stats should also be a thing. All of these things have probably been pointed out and should be easy fixes for Blizzard to implement. These should have been obvious for this genre, but really, the game has only been out a little over a week. Name the last game that didn't have any misses on day 1...

The GOOD: The game is fun. It plays well. The graphics are great and the main quest is fully voice acted with fantastic cutscenes. All things I would expect from the Blizzard games I grew up playing. (I know Blizzard has had a number of L's in recent years, so I was worried.) The endgame being nonexistent is maybe a hardcore player's issue. I am enjoying the open world aspects of the game, thought I kind of wish they would spawn world bosses and legion events a bit quicker so there was always one to go to (i.e. Guild Wars 2).

The BEST: This game is NOT P2W... The in-game shop is garbage and that is a great thing. It is not even remotely tempting to pay money for any of the skins. With mobs exploding up all around me, I can't even see my character a lot of the time and couldn't possibly care less about it. Disclaimer: My last truly hardcore ARPG playing days were D2 where all the characters literally looked the same and I didn't care then either. So, the best part of the game is that, for the first time in ages, I feel like I have bought a game and don't need to open up my wallet again.

So, if you want to play a fun game without worrying about getting your wallet out every other day, this is a great game and I would absolutely recommend it. I am sure they will fix the quality of life issues and everything else has been honestly fun.

The game is surprisingly fan on Steam Deck. But I cannot keep playing it because I don’t always have internet where I use my SD.

Because of the no checkpoint, no manuel save system a couple of times I had to play the last 15-30 minutes again which was disgusting.

The leveling of the enemies makes it pointless to play this game for long time. I gain level, enemies gain as much, in the end I’m at the point where I started the game.

The items found has the similar issue. The item I find become useless soon, so I don’t care anymore, I just make a few upgrades, use it for a few rounds and change it. I never found a good item at the sellers, it’s pointless to check them as well.

The Witcher 3 was one of the best balanced games I’ve ever played I guess. If you are at a certain level higher than the side quest that quest was becoming unplayable. You could find an item a few higher levels than yours and you needed to keep it until you reach that level. It was exciting to work on it. It's not kuantum physics, what gamers ask is clear, just use the logic.

The things Diablo 4 is good are; you can reset your skills for a reasonable amount. The difficulty is well balanced. Very few bugs. They worked on it this game for sure, not some sloppy job.

Easily deserves half the price they are asking for.

    Here are some important positives:
    1. The game launched relatively smoothly.
    2. We got a game that feels solid and complete on launch (this allows us to engage with the devs on the smaller issues because they aren't scrambling to polish a trash heap, which we tend to see more often these days).
    3. The story is enjoyable and cohesive.
    4. Group play with your friends is great and feels rewarding.
    5. Lastly, and most importantly, I have had a ton of fun playing it.

The future of this game is solidly in the dev's hands, if they play the cards right and keep the game updated, fresh and add good amounts of new content then I can see myself spending a lot more of my time invested in this game. It is insane to me that anyone would give this game a largely negative review. If you can afford it, and have some good gaming buddies to join you, I recommend this game highly.

Cons: Aspect system is interesting, but I'd prefer a system of sets, loot for other classes like D2 had, runewords, etc. Expand on D2, don't reinvent the wheel. Horse is buggy. PVP doesn't really seem enticing. Social functions could be better. No replaying the big bosses once you hit endgame or skip the campaign. I'd love to fight Andariel and Duriel again!

5/10: disappointed, but optimistic for future updates

When a game is designed for all audiences, you end up with a homogenized experience. There is no way to fail and no way to excel. Combat feels the same throughout the entire experience until you achieve a build. The only engaging content in D4 is Uber Lilith and it's extremely over tuned compared to the rest of the game.

    Main issues:
    1. Quests/Dialog: Pacing is extremely out of whack. There is way too much dialog compared to what it adds to the overall experience. Coupled with not being able to skip certain things such as escorts or NPC animations, it's a bad experience. Even when I'm not interested in listening to the dialog, skipping is frustrating because the camera has to zoom in for a second and NPCs have to walk around or go through their animation before I can skip the next line of dialog. I did a 100% renown character where I did all side quests, spoke to all NPCs, and didn't skip any dialog. With the exception of some of the main story and a couple side quests, it was extremely forgetful.

    - Remove side quests that require character animations to play through
    - Make the remaining side quest dialog leaner and more interesting
    - Add more visual storytelling

    2. Itemization - Step up from Diablo 3, but some of the fundamental issues carried over. Essentially, you're looking for items with at least 3/4 affixes for your build. This means it's either an upgrade or junk, never a "hmm, is this good and can I fit this in?". There's no interesting itemization choices or tradeoffs. Usually there are character problems to be solved through itemization such as resistances, life threshold, armor threshold, block %, cast/attack speed, resource management, cooldown recovery, etc. In this game, it's basically: damage, vulnerability damage, critical damage, and maybe one or two other stats for your build. The excitement and dopamine in an ARPG depends on the drops and evaluating the power of an item or min/maxing between many different affixes. Diablo 4 misses the mark with this by a mile and I really hope they do a complete overhaul of the itemization.

    - Consolidate similar affix types
    - Add more interesting build-enabling affixes
    - Add more problems for characters to overcome through itemization
    - Remove damage from some item slots

    3. UI/UX - I understand that this game is designed for all platforms and probably designed for all kinds of accessibility. But the UI should be an expression of what the developers want the players to experience. When I open any menu in this game, it takes me out of the world. It's completely counter to the vibe that the game establishes. I would love to see more creativity and expression here.

    - Express the world of Diablo through the UI as the default experience
    - For those with accessibility issues or on different platforms, provide options to change the UI
    - Please stop using fonts that remind me of work

    4. Level Scaling - Level scaling makes the leveling experience homogenized and bland. There's never a moment of "oh **** this is way too tough, I'll come back later" or "damn, these guys are easy now, I've gotten much stronger." Blizzard needs to go back to the drawing board and brainstorm some better solutions to the open-world problem.

    - Remove level scaling or come up with a hybrid system
    - Add more content that presents a real challenge and doesn't scale upward

    5. Dungeons - The dungeon objectives are tedious. It severely detracts from the experience. I see a lot of people saying to add more. I say remove them altogether. If the fear is boss rushing, reduce boss rewards / dungeon completion rewards.

    - Remove dungeon objectives
    - Make glyph xp based on clear %
    - Add more dungeon layouts

    Positives:
    1. Music - I loved the music. I turned down the sfx/voice to 50% and kept music at 100% and this was perfect. Music should be at the forefront. Music can immediately set a tone and reinforces what's happening on the screen.

    - Add more melodic music that catches the ear

    2. Style / Graphics - I love the tone of this world. It's grim, dark, and dangerous. Characters don't overshadow the world and feel naturally part of it. Player animations make combat look and feel great. Monster design is interesting and fits well. Main story boss design is awesome.

    - Increase saturation of abilities and monsters
    - Expand the color palette in zones

    3. Combat - It feels great. Abilities are satisfying and fun to use. Sound design is nice and visceral.

Blizz played it extremely safe. They aren't pushing the genre forward in any way or expressing a vision. Of course, when a team grows too large, budget gets too big, and you have Activision to answer to, there probably isn't much space for designers to go outside the boundaries. I get the sense that the Blizzard culture is very much that there is zero pushback and people would rather keep their job security and climb the ladder

Im a casual gamer. I loved Diablo 1, the second edition wasnt appealing, the third lost me completely. However my brother told me, i think you would like the fourth edition as a casual gamer, so i tried it, and he was right, i really enjoy it.

From the very beginning of development, they did quarterly updates where they would inform players on what they were currently working on and gather feedback on those things. By doing this it ensured they weren't wasting resources and time by creating things that players didn't like, and the end result is amazing.

It's well worth the price tag for me. Even if the level cap was 50 I would still buy the game at it's current price, because there's enough content to keep me busy for many many hours.

The story is great. The side quests are fun. I skipped everything on my first 2 playthroughs of the campaign but on my 3rd character I watched everything and listened to all quest dialogue on side missions.

There's a variety of different things to do at end game, so you can focus on specific things or do a little bit of everything depending on what you like. There's no wrong way to play.

Making your own build is fun and rewarding, and you can make a build that is intricate and unique without being overwhelmed by the complexity. I love both the skill tree and paragon tree, and it's easy to change/modify some things without that dread of having to re-do your character.

I look forward to spending thousands of hours over the coming years in this game, trying out different classes, builds, playing the seasons etc.

I would go as far as to say this is the best game Blizzard has ever made.

The game is an insanely absurdly addicting dopamine slot machine simulator. I think the open world really adds to this, and not having to play the campaign more than once. Which was really good and set the tone in my opinion but also was a bit of a slog.

I have a Druid at level 72 and find the build diversity on him to be amazing. I don't feel the need to follow strict meta, just leveled through a build that was theory crafted and sounded good and strong, did end up being pretty meta, but I deviated and did different things and haven't even looked at end game meta build. I'm still changing and tweaking my build.

I can't wait to play the other classes as well, but my next power boost is always tantalizing close, usually achieved by the end of a good day of playing, not multiple times throughout the day. Which is a a slow pace and feels like feast or famine, but it makes sense to me that's how the game will start to try to keep it controlled and contained, as power creep is inevitable, and there's going to be thousands of more gear sets and meta builds in the future.

Haven't been this hooked on a game in a long time and I feel like I have months of replay ability with this base game, possibly even just within the Druid class even, though I will choose a different one next.

This is one of those games that makes me so happy that I'm actually here for it, and a gamer at this day and age. It really feels glorious.
However I think with a strong build anywhere close to meta as mine is it's a bit too easy, the sweet spot is being under leveled in a new difficulty and overcoming that, that's when side quests and basic dungeons and exploration feels amazing and immersive, with the possibility of death. Once the overworld and then the basic dungeons become too easy the enjoyment starts to fall off, and it's starting to happen a bit at 72 right when my build is starting to fully come together.

Nightmare dungeons aren't good enough to sustain that for very long imo, so I will likely then stop the character once I finally get my build completed where it's destroying in the overworld, (It's already doing very well but I want to add another 0 to my damage) and start the next one until higher WTs (difficulties) come out. Which is fine in my opinion.

I don't think NM dungeons are a suitable end game, they should just be the thing to do to get levels and push difficulty until you can make it into the next difficulty, which doesn't exist yet, but is coming according to leaks.

And that's fine I think, I think for launch that is actually acceptable, so long as it doesn't take a whole year for more difficulties to come out. Because to me that's the sweet spot is coming into a new difficulty with new challenge, better AI and better monster density, that's what makes the game exciting to me.

NM dungeons aren't good enough to grind forever, they are too boring and repetitive. But I'm sure that blizzard knows this. I am super excited not just for this games future but also the content that I have available to play until that fleshes out. Which I'm hoping works out smoothly, which I definitely could see that happening. Like I will play every other class, I will rebuild my 71 Druid, I will create another fresh Druid, maybe the same for the other classes too. That is a LOT of content to hold me over. The atmosphere is incredible. It oozes inspiration from the original 2 diablos. It's delicious and next gen.

Would give it a 8 or 9 but all the 1 and 2 reviews are just insane and weight the rating down way too much. It's like the 4 Chan clown bus or something. Like if you look at their other reviews they rate all AAA games at 0 but weeb and waifu indy games at tens, its pretty clear where this brigade is coming from.

After over 150 hours of gameplay I'm still excited to start my next session. The writing is easily the best of the Diablo series and the casting for the voice actors is perfect, Lorath serves as our Narrator thoughout the game and his voice is enchanting. Gameplay is tight, responsive and an absolute joy, destroying the legions of hell has never felt so good. Every class feels powerful in it's own way, allowing players to choose the class they resonate with without feeling bad about not picking what is "optimal"; on that note, balance is good here too. It's not perfect, but Blizzard is keeping up with nearly daily updates and hotfixes, making sure nothing egregious stays in the game for very long. It all comes together to make Diablo 4 a triumph of game development and it will undoubtedly keep players coming back for many years to come. Expand

From start to finish I have had exactly ZERO value and utility of the live service; it causes rubberbanding/loading issues and is generally an annoyance meant as a bedrock for various uninspired monetisation techniques (battle passes/store cosmetics etc.) which shouldn't even be in this game. A lot of the individual employees at Blizzard are capable of some good work, especially from the art perspective, but their overall corporate business practice continues to sacrifice actual player enjoyment and acts against player interest to maximize monetary growth.

There also seems to be an air of superiority and lack of respect towards the playerbase when it comes to creating, and especially fixing, certain systems and issues. The famous "You think you do, but you don't" resonates even to this day with how they handle patches/updates and community feedback. There have been reports of fake stats, hidden background processes/calculations, purposely time-wasting practices... odd, unnecessary and unwelcome in this IP.

Other than that... it's a great game. They went back to themes of western darkness/horror which I do so enjoy.
Sound design is great, cinematics are great, whomping enemies feels great, graphics are beautiful.
It seems the game didn't land well with the hardcore sweatlords, many of which wanted something more akin to Path of Exile, but don't let that discourage you - if you're just an everyday casual Diablo enjoyer, you'll have a pretty good time... it's just a shame Blizzard is always on your back trying to hamper that good time with absurd game design choices with the intent to extract money from your wallet.

This game isn't diablo 1-3, but I wouldn't even call it anywhere close to being like immortal

GRAPHICS AND HOW IT RUNS: I currently run a High Performance rig and limit my FPS to 60 overall. The graphics in this game initially looked a little watered down compared to when I played the beta, but I contribute this to the fact that I just didn't play a lot of the beta. This game does not cause my computer to run warm at all and I stay at that solid 60 FPS on high.

STORY AND CHARACTERS: I will probably come back and edit this later, but so far the story has my attention, with that being said I haven't run into anything that bores me other than some of the characters, something about their accents and dialogs just doesn't fit right to me.

GAMEPLAY AND MECHANICS: They reduced mob density by a large amount in this installation. Honestly, I am completely okay with that. It feels better to kill a few more challenging enemies than thousands of small enemies I would just one shot. This also makes the way you build so much more important. Do you wanna be able to kill something quick? Obviously. But some bosses just aren't build around you being able to do that so you actually have to think instead of mindlessly attack enemies.

Overall, I will provide updates to this review but wanted to put something honest out to float around in the sea of people complaining about lag or their connection problems, I have not had a single problem logging in and staying logged into the game other than initial release. I do not mind this being what I guess would be callee a "live service" game. Most of us have internet nowadays anyways.

TLDR: It's not my favorite game right now, but it's better than what a lot of people are saying it is.

It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
