    As a D2 Veteran I was very disappointed with D3 at launch and I'm sad to say that I'm even more disappointed with D4 at launch than I was with D3.
    Like others have said, the story is amazing but I recommend that you save your money until Blizzard fixes the myriad of issues that D4 has.

    Extremely boring endgame gameplay. There's nothing to do. Weak itemization. The same thing can drop on every item. Terrible treatment of players. Constant balance changes ruining the gameplay. Instead of boosting weak builds, they nerf the strong ones. I wanted to give the game a second chance during the launch of the first season, but the servers are not working...

Save your money for other ARPGs or go buy both Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 Resurrected for the price of this garbage.     In the case of Diablo 3, the fundamental metric that the team is targeting is "engagement".

    You might ask: "why is this bad? It's an ARPG, I want to be engaged."

    But the fact is, Blizzard doesn't care what type of engagement it is, they don't care if you're enjoying yourself, as long as you're playing, as long as you rack up the hours.

    And if you look at the game through that lens, every aspect, and every decision now makes sense.
    They will actively try and slow you down. They don't want you to burn through the (very little) end game content.
    They want to make sure you get as little reward as reasonable without you throwing up your hands and just outright quitting. It's a fine line, but they have the experience and data to straddle that line.

    And there lies the real fundamental problem with the game. And they have to do this, their shareholders DEMAND that they maximise profits, so they must treat the players like cows and milk us for as much of our "engagement" as possible, with as little content as possible.    … Expand

    Hour long queue. If I can log in the lag makes the game unplayable. Blizzard(now Microsoft I guess) just takes the money and delivers some unplayable trash.

    So, I'm giving it 2 points, because I actually really enjoyed playing through the Story the first time and I enjoyed the cutscenes, music etc. however that's very subjective.

    Especially I can not recommend the current state of Diablo IV as the priority of updates and fixes seems to be to nerf various parts of the game (like unnecessarily extending the "leave dungeon" portal from 3 seconds to 5, so now your character just stands there idling for 2 seconds), some fixes even coming in on the same day but big requested changes by the community are not on the priority list. Additionally, the patch before the first season revealed their poor view of what actually needs dev-work and leaves a sour taste for upcoming content, patches or even fixes (in Blizzard fashion likely more nerfs to slow down progress).    … Expand

    I cant understand how a company can be so blindfolded on not hearing or reading any kind of feedback from the players, Blizzard is on a killing streak of all their games and it's not stoping, from Heroes of the storm, to Warcraft 3 Refunded, to damn Overwatch 2 and now they dig the grave even deeper with Diablo.

    I know its hard to please everyone, but man.

    Game is a JOKE! Season pass one is full of bugs can't even move around the map without getting stuck CAN'T GET TO MISSIONS! Can't complete missions. LOAD TIMES take for ever so have to control alt delete to get out of the game to restart and be queued for ages!!!

    Having actually had fun playing a game after a long time and being psyched up for this season, the latest patch takes away everything that made the game actually fun. Looks like I'm going to be doing something else before Blizzard takes the stick out of their ass. I feel like the community resonates hard on what I said.

    90% of my deaths are from dumb blizzard mechanics, I'm tired of feeling like i'm getting stomped in the dirt mid fight by a mechanics that have very little counterplay if any at all. chain cc into body explosions, into off screen chargers into some environmental nonsense that can barely be seen through the chaos.

    At first, I was enjoying the game, then i progressed enough to see what a hollow shell of a game it actually is. I was going to give it one more chance with the new season, but the servers can't handle its player base in 2023.

Then season 1 drops with excessively long loading screens, long login queues and invisible walls stopping you from progressing. Do yourself a favour and play something else whilst this alpha version of the game is developed on. Come back in 6 months andWhat are they doing?     This game had potential, despite quite long grind for mandatory uniques for endgame builds i really wanted to give it a chance. But after patch 1.1 and nerfs all over the place i felt like i got a big fc... slap in the face. i wasted money, time and first time in my life i am mad at developers that they sucked out all the fun from this game and ruind it.     Had a blast with this game when released, then came the nerfs prior to S1. Feels like Blizz does this with every game they put out. Players enjoy the game and then devs nerf everything into the ground to make it more of a grind. If you are planning on purchasing this title, I'd wait until they either fix their mistakes or play something else and keep the $70.

    The new patch fixes none of the current problems and nerfs all builds/experience... this makes it clear that nothing good can be expected going forward. Avoid paying full price for this game, as it is only worth it for the campaign. Such a shame.

    I want to have fun playing this game, because it's Diablo and one of my favorite franchises. But every time I log on and try to play I find the gameplay loop just isn't rewarding. The Unique's are mostly useless and most of the item affixes don't even matter. I was a hardcore Diablo 3 player and I understand the game got a lot better after a year or two of patches and QoL updates. So II want to have fun playing this game, because it's Diablo and one of my favorite franchises. But every time I log on and try to play I find the gameplay loop just isn't rewarding.     At this point (and I'll admit, probably many points ago), Blizzard is just another game developer that stopped developing games and became another mindless corporation enslaved to their shareholders.

    Do yourself a favor and just support the few AAA studios left that still have a genuine passion for storytelling and game design, and of course indie studios where raw talent and passion thrive.

    This game is now hot garbage. It wasn't great before but now the dev's have nerfed several things on the eternal realm to nudge people over to the seasonal realms to spend more money on the battle passes. I'm done with this dead company being puppeteered by Activision and Blobby KoDick

    Level 98 barbarian, probably about 100-150 hours logged onto the game. After the recent patch, I have 0 desire to reach level 100 or even continue this game. Developers are so out of touch with the player base it's unreal. They refused my request for a refund, but I'm going to delete my character and uninstall the game out of solidarity anyway.

    I have played the free game from Grinding Gear Games's Path of Exile and I really loved it for the dark and gritty storyline. I have sunk in over $2,000.00 in buying their cosmetics.

    Recently I have played Tripod and Smilegate's Lost Ark game and it was amazing for its game play action and quality of life mechanics for their users. There was no funny business about not putting an easily accessible built-in timer for the world bosses or other events.

    They have events where they have eight users play together in the same game instance.
    This literally blew me away as it was more fun to play with more players.

    Also, I have sunk in over $2,000.00 in buying their cosmetics for customizing my characters.

    What I am trying to convey to you Blizzard as a company who needs to satisfy their shareholders is why are you trying to make a fun game very annoying to play with longer time gate mechanics? Not everyone can play like the top one percent diehard professional gamers.

    I have a job where I have to work over 50 hours per week. Why are you making me regret my decision about purchasing the ultimate edition of Diablo 4 during its pre-release?

    I do have an actual life you know where I regularly meet up with family and friends.

    I definitely think you will be losing me as a loyal customer who was potentially willing to spend a lot of money on the game's cosmetics.

    Please do clean up your act and really listen to the userbase and the top professional gamers who play for a living and have experienced the god awful decisions from your development team.

    I choose not to spout hate in my zero star review of Diablo 4 at this current time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was okay at launch. There were tons of bugs with damage resistances not applying and even sorcerer passives not work at all. It still was fun grinding dungeons with a few buddies; I even made it to level 81.
    The patch dropped on the 18th and I ahead repairing the bugs, they added useless nee unique items and reduced all DAMAGE RESISTANCES. You can't make this up, they made this game entirely unplayable for in-progression sorcerers. My character is. Ow useless, I do not get satisfaction from doing more work for less reward.     從小時候暗黑二一路玩到暗黑四，這次即便價格高昂，也是買了終極豪華版，但最終的結果還是讓人傷透了心，我算是對這個系列甚至這間公司徹底的死心了，感覺不像是在玩遊戲，而是被遊戲操弄著，糟糕的優化，無聊的END GAME內容，謝謝你，暴雪，謝謝你帶給我曾經美好的回憶。

    Lixo de jogo, diablo 3 é 1000x melhor. Voce nao se diverte em nada jogando, você nunca sente que está dando mais dano pq os monstros estão sempre no seu level, não importa onde você vá no mapa. Não existe a sensação de recompensa por estar matando ou ganhando novos itens. Resumindo, não perca seu tempo e dinheiro nesse jogo,

    70€ and the devs change classes around every few days as if they have no clue what they are doing. D4 is a pure money grab. Stay away. The only reason I give one! Point is, because the game looks great. But that's it. Blizzard can go and eat yellow snow

    平衡性做得十分差勁，對於玩家有利的元素硬是要說成BUG立即修復，對玩家不利且十分明顯為BUG的元素，永遠不會修復，許多更新都是在畫大餅，都是說明將來會出現，當初預購前說的一個都沒有實現，真的是只想賺錢，一點都不顧玩家體驗

    At the release of the game it was going farily well. Characters felt powerful while you lv up. It wasn't perfect but it had a great feeling if leveling up and feeling the power of your work in front of your eyes felt great to see . Latest patch absolutely destroyed the * fun* aspect of the game. The countless hours you put into the game and grinding for gear became useless after the patch.At the release of the game it was going farily well. Characters felt powerful while you lv up. I'm sad to say the developers literally told us fans that they want to force you to play other builds and will nerf your current build if they feel fit at any time. If you enjoy playing a game where your hard work gets deleted and you have to make changes every patch then this game is for you. Sadly the game drifted away for what fans wanted and now we have weaker characters with no timeline on when a fix is coming or even if one is coming at all.… Expand

    I enjoyed only the art and atmosphere of this game, also the story a bit. When it comes to bosses and mechanics there is nothing to say more than meh.

    Diablo 4 is the opposite. It's a slog. The season grind is brutal. Who wants to spend weeks trying to reach max level in a seasonal game?     Patch 1.1 made a game that already had a whole host of issues extremely tedious to play. I really want to like the game, but until major changes happen it simply is not worth a single second of my time.

Playing experience is the same on 30lvl, 60lvl or 100lvl. Ther's no goal to achieve, items are boring as hell. i'm still using weapon found on 64lvl because i can't find something better (i'm 100 now). Drops are not exciting at all. In fact, drops have zero value until you teleport back to town and sort through countless lines of text to determine if anything is of use. That's like a casino where, instead of getting a payout at slot machine when you hit, you instead get a token that you have to take to the main desk to find out if it's worth anything. It's not exciting.

    The game does get a few things right, however. The sound design is amazing. Playing through the campaign was enjoyable. The NPCs are well-acted, especially those you encounter through the main story. However, your character's voice lines are weird and out of place at times.

    I expect this game to get better over time with multiple patch cycles and a lot of development that, hopefully, will actually incorporate some of the feedback from the community. In its present state, however, there are much better games to spend your money on. If you're looking to sink some time into some great ARPGs, check out PoE (well worth the time it takes to learn its systems), Grim Dawn, or even Last Epoch, although that one needs quite a bit of time to cook as well.    … Expand

    Completely downgraded the whole game right before a season. Made the game worse and also all the time I spent gathering items with stats in one patch they have made completely useless. Complete disrespect of one's time.

    - As bad as the itemisation is the re-rolling/crafting is even worse

    - levels are so boring and insanely repetitive; End game is nightmare dungeon - there is a handful of dungeons and they are all identical with identical bosses/mobs and layout. They consist of the most mundane objectives (kill all mobs, collect and bring back stone, kill special mobs etc). There is zero fun here, its like all the lessons from running D3 and D2 for 40+ seasons were forgotten

    - One of the most fun things in diablo has always been doing new builds.... well guess what, they made it as hard as possible for you to do this. Paragons, not a bad concept but damn if you want to change a build you have to unclick 200+ allocations so you can try a different build - not fun on a mouse but eveb worse on controller. No unselect all, or save current selection.. Did they even test their own game? I am guessing not.

    Gameplay - so many cheese mechanics, I spent many hours playing hardcore in previous franchises. I don't even want to try here... The butcher is an example; yay you're pushing hard content go around a corner and you hear fresh meat... sure in softcore you have a laugh and in the end you will usually kill him but hardcore.. further the stun mechanics followed by stupid 1 shot stuff.. just not fun.

    I am confident that the game will get there, just I wish they talked to the teams of the previous games and started d4 where they left off.    … Expand

    The first run through the campaign was really fun. But after level 70 it gets very frustrating and Season 1 is content wise jsut bad. and I am really dissapointed. They know about the probs but their focus remains on shop and cashgrab. typicall blizzard nowadays. I am out

    Unfortunately, I chose to ignore reviews on the game as I have been a long standing fan of the Diablo series. However, while there are some elements of the game that I do find absolutely enjoyable, its little things that have crept in which have led to a lot of disdain for this game. Consumables disappear due to dying and/or disconnects, and some of the consumables take a great deal of time to prepare. Resistances, seem irrelevant, even consumable resistance elixirs and so on. In general, the grinding is just the same old same old, with very little extra than increasing enemy health and damage, and the stun effects - OMF it may just be the worse Ive had to endure in a Diablo game. I hope Blizzard goes out of business because they have become so big without giving a crap to the legacy of Diablo. The money is important, but the overall experience of this game is evident Blizzard no longer understands what it means to make a long standing game. D2 was by far the best.… Expand

    After you reach level 50, it sucks!
    The only activities are dungeons that aren't even worth it at world level 4. The nightmare dungeons are also not worth it, neither for levelling nor for the gear. There is far too little XP for everything.
    Every effective way to collect XP is patched immediately.
    In any case, I am extremely disappointed and will now stop at level 75.

    Everything about this game is slow. Locations are far away from each other and for the entire early game you need to slowly jog across the map. Fast travel points are few and far between. Combat is a chore. Mobs are neither difficult enough to make me feel challenged at any point on veteran difficulty (and this is my first Diablo game) but the mobs are also meaty enough that I don't feelEverything about this game is slow.     Every single time I've booted this game up I played for a shorter period than the last time. After spending $70 on this I'll probably give it at least one last shot, but if I had downloaded this from game pass it would have been uninstalled by my third gaming session.    … Expand

    For me, RPG's are about killing tons of mobs, and looking for rare and powerful loot. Diablo 4 is actually great at the first, killing tons of mobs. Even tho i only played sorc (as usual) i really liked its moment to moment combat. Sadly only a few viable builds, but i guess i wasnt hoping for much more.
    But when it comes to the 2nd more important part of being an RPG, Diablo 4 falls flat on its face. Even that's a massive understatement. I dislike the entire itemization system. From the aspects extraction/imprinting, to the power spread of dropped items being binarily(?) gated by the world tier difficulty. But even those issues are not the real problem for me.
    Here is where the game becomes truly ANNOYING to play:
    I clear a dungeon in about 2 minutes, during which i collect enough loot to completely fill up my entire inventory. Before moving onto the next dungeon, i have to go to town and unload (because obviously i want to improve my character). I spend another 2 minutes in town looking at each rare/legendary item i have gotten. An hour into this endgame loop, of staring at all the "damage to" and "damage from" and other uselessly **** affixes, and their massive ranges, my brain just turns off and it starts hurting. I despise the moment i have to go into town and stare into the void of affixes, it literally hurts. It all becomes a blur.
    It should be the opposite, picking up loot should be inducing dopamine, not making me want to close the game.
    Here is how this could easily be fixed:
    1. Remove uniques entirely from the game. Stop trying to farm nostalgy points from all the Diablo 2 veterans with the non-existent Shako drop rates. Thats really scummy. Not to mention how useless all the uniques i found are, compared to imprinting a powerful aspect into a rare.
    2. Cut legendary drop rates by half or even a quarter, and boost their affix range rolls to be better than the rares. For example: if a rare helmet could roll 4% - 10% CDR, make a legendary helmet CDR range roll 8% - 10%
    3. Reduce the value of rare items when sold to a vendor, down to 10% of what it is, and boost gold dropped by monsters 5-10x.
    Obviously this needs to be fine-tuned, but generally would make picking up legendary items an enjoyable event. Even the Aspect rewards from dungeons will become a viable option, because currently with the legendary drop rate, i had all my aspects collected in no time, without having to go and complete a specific dungeon to get any of them.
    Or here is another way to fix it:
    1. Let me set desired affixes/ranges for each item slot as a loot filter or something, and when something matching my wishlist drops, ping my minimap with a green beam or something.
    Just off the top of my head, there's probably many other ways of getting around the problem of staring at affixes 24/7 without getting an upgrade for days.
    If this tiny part of the itemization system is addressed (even tho its a band aid fix), this game would be 8/10 for me, but its currently unplayable... hence its a 3/10. I am however giving it 1 extra point, only because of the "Diablo 4/10" meme...

    It saddens me to have to rate a Diablo game so low, as i grew up with Diablo 2 and its still one of my most favorite games... But even with its beautifully crafted overworld and masterful soundscape, Diablo 4 is a massive dissapointment :(    … Expand

    I thought it would be better than Diablo 3 but with forced server joining causes so much lag... it is like World of Warcraft joined Diablo... one of the worst combinations I can think of... if you want people to be playing on servers, at least make sure there are enough servers not to lag out... sometimes dead in battle before you know you are in battle...     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In terms of the amount of pleasure received from the game, it is not worth half of its cost. This is not a new word in the game industry, I did not see any bold decisions, reaching a new level. And this is not exactly what I would like or expect.
    Yes, the graphics are beautiful, music and cinematics are great, the plot is exciting, but it is not enough and everything else is no of interest. The atmosphere of the game is poorly conveyed, it is easily spoiled by the MMO component.
    I liked the references to Meshif and Deckard. But the little evil in the face of Andariel and Duriel was simply flushed down the toilet. It didn't look like a homage.
    Immersion at the beginning of the game was good, but soon I got the impression that I was thrown into a train running at full speed.

    Mix D2R with Knaak's books, ditch the MMO and possibly the isometric view (that would be very bold and could have a great effect), be as sensitive as possible about the atmosphere - you will succeed. But the game looks like a D3 upgrade.

    Videos with people playing D4, which are posted on the official YouTube channel, are very revealing, players show simulated emotions.
    Artificial hype. Boredom.

    I think, the capitalists have replaced creators, they are stifling fantasy, preventing artists from making real art.

    The game itself seems fantastic on the surface and if you are only going to play it for the single player story and be (mostly) done with the game from there. The one bright spot beyond the single player is also a glaring failure. It’s fair and valid to have total optimism that this game will improve by leaps and bounds over the next year. However, it begs the question, why are we waiting at all when most of the stuff this game is missing are things that was added to D3 because of player suggestions. It almost seems idiotic to not include some of the quality of life additions to D3 into this game from day 1.… Expand

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
