Was great before the season 1 patch thought the game could just get better. Thought they'd buff sorc survivability and leave it's damage alone. Ruined my favorite class. Ruined the game already.

They promised they will look into necromancer minions in patch 1.1.0, but there was none of it, a small buff to one thing, but so many things are broken.

Blizzard doesn't respect your time, at all they forcing you to regrind the renown again, and again with new seasons.

It also seems Blizzard doesn't really know what they are doing, they changing things, that doesn't need to be changed. They needed to fix things and make sure everything works first of all, add new content later!

I will check from time to time to see how it evolves but I really don't have any hopes for the future of Diablo IV.

The foundation is strong, but they need to rethink their approach to the game, maybe one day they will and maybe Diablo IV will be good.

The game also has lots of bugs, including some serious ones like Barrage Rogue not getting glyph altars in nightmare dungeons, which took more than a month to fix. There are also other more annoying issues like ridiculously low stash space: it's not like it's blizzard's first Diablo game.

A big part of the game is its slot matchine random rewards system whereby it drops random items, but some class-specific uniques don't drop over the course of 100h of play like Tempest Roar for the druid while at the same time you get 10+ copies of the equivalent item for another druid build.

To top it off, they now have nerfed everything in the game to, I guess, have a KPI to show progress towards now that they can't easily increase "Number of active players". This pre-season 1 patch took a game that was ok despite the bugs and removed all that made it fun. But I guess this is what I get for buying a service at a fixed rate instead of a game and expect the provider to have fun and enjoyment and the player's interests in mind.

I gave Blizzard the benefit of the doubt with Diablo IV despite Diablo Immortal, and I really wanted the game to become another classic but it's clear to me that it's very unlikely to happen at this time.

It feebly attempts to incorporate aspects from your cookie cutter MMORPG from the last 20 years however all of that falls flat. Its easy to imagine during this games development, they must have had a list of buzzwords on a whiteboard(MMO, Open world, 100 unique dungeons, etc.) that the team must have felt beholden to, then those buzzwords eventually make it into the final product but only on a technicality, none of it feeling organic, belonging or even fully incorporated.

If this game was early access or beta it would be a solid 5-6/10 hoping for a 7-8/10 game release. Being a full game at 70$, with 1 month of basically open beta before Season 1, and going into S1 without ANY of the numerous problems reported in this month resolved....3-4/10 is the best I can give. Inventory space, UI still not fixed
    Resistances in season 2
Uber unique are a joke. Too much randomization and too little customization for drops.
Respec is costly and a chore in the best scenario (just copy WOW for talent loadout and respec.....is also a blizzard game...just copy that part)
    Some specs are extremely underperforming.
World chat doesn't work so the feeling is that of a single player game
    And.....NO END GAME

Before 1.0 endgame was very poor, made by uber lilith and dungeons T100, mostly the latter.
Then devs said they didn't want dungeons to be endgame so they nerfed them.....ok
...leaving as the ONLY end game challenge uber lilith who doesn't even drop loot.......

If they wanted to remove dungeons as end game content they should have given a replacement before nerfing them.... after the campaign is done... there is really nothing to do in the game but mindlessly farm loot for no real purpose Anyway I didn't vote 0/10 but I believe that until there will be people giving this game a score of 10/10, any 0/10 is totally justified to bring the total score of the game close to its true value

My friends and I have enjoyed the game greatly since launch, but after the release of patch 1.1 just before Season 1 we are seeing just how out of touch the company's management is with the game. With all the sweeping nerfs, they have taken so many elements that made the game fun and completely killed it for me and my friends. Though I play Druid and came out mostly on top, my friends that love Sorcerer are getting completely shafted. I really wish the company was putting time into restoring all the quality of life improvements from Diablo III into Diablo IV instead of wasting time backtracking and making their game worst than the launch and beta experiences.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Only 2/6 campaign acts are likeable, the last 3 being convoluted and seem to have been rushed to get completed. Ending is about as nonsensical as possible and prepares for a $40 expansion in about a year. About 25 hours long if you take your time, most of which is running between npcs to get orders from since your character is as close to a mindless drone as you can get, and you only unlock the horse after the first 3/4 of the story. What is canon is also inconsistent, with characters referencing having a surplus of health potions, but not using them when they are stabbed and dying in the dumbest way possible.

After the most recent 1.1 patch, most meta builds have been nerfed damage wise by 40%, but are still the meta since the other builds suck that much. Enemy health has also been buffed and player survivability nerfed. For example, the worst performing class by a significant margin had to rely on a specific passive to stay competitive, and that was nerfed by 20%.

Latest patch notes make this game even more painful to play. Nerf upon more nerfs. It feels like the devs don't know what they are doing or at least it seems their main priority is to make everything a cash grab.

Game was mediocre when released but patch 1.1.0 made the game miserable to play. D3 might have been a mindless casual shell of a Diablo game, but at least it was fun to play for a week or two every few months because it rewarded you for playing instead of D4 which almost punishes you for playing.

The copious loot you could find in previous titles is now scarce, upgrading your gear ends by level 70 at best, and the unique artifacts in the game are laughably garbage. They DID make a massive map, but then wasted it on having the same mobs literally everywhere, so you don't *feel* like it's a massive map - the same generic setting of desert, jungle swamp, or forest spread over the map. If you buy Diablo 4 expecting an ARPG, you will be disappointed. There's less action, no depth to character builds, no interesting loot, and a whole lot of walking from point A to B in a mostly empty world. What you get is a uniform, drawn out "Hack & Slash game where Numbers Go Up"

At launch, the game was a slog at best - player power kept in check by every enemy levelling up alongside you, from start to finish. There is no feeling powerful in this game, even in the starting area. But with Patch 1.1, player power and progression has been significantly gimped even further, to the point where you have to wonder what the motive could possibly be.

And I think the motive is to cover up the fact that the game lacks any sort of depth or interesting loot whatsoever. Gems are worthless. Uniques are just souped up rares with a random aspect on em, that you can extract. Items don't have any identity beyond arrow up or arrow down. Crafting is basically nonexistent, and choice of skills and character builds has been dumbed down even compared to Diablo 3.

It's the action RPG without action, without interesting loot, without depth in character builds, and also you'll be running across the entire world - a huge empty map - for fetch quests over and over. Just walking. And you don't get a mount until you beat the main campaign for some reason.

Also, they're pinging you to check out and preview microtransactions whenever a new one becomes available... each costing upwards of a third of what you paid for the game. Complete insanity.

On merit of its game systems, it's not worth playing BUT
    Combat and visuals are solid.
Story, writing and voice acting is solid.
For those two, I award one point each. If you *really* care about the lore, consider dragging yourself through the campaign once. 2/10

Blizzard "balances" around some pro players who beat the hardest content and don't care they ruin it all for 99.99% of their customers.
Most quality of live features from D3 were ditched. Mechanics are a total bloat fest of way too many damage types, most of them useless (and useful ones get nerfed).

The final season of Diablo 3 really hyped me up -- they added a bunch of quality of life things that the player base had wanted for a long time and I felt very optimistic that Diablo 4 would be the best Diablo game yet. The reality is, the lack of stash space makes it impossible to play multiple classes and makes getting loot a bad thing when that's supposed to be a fun part of the game, WE CAN'T EVEN SAVE BUILDS, and they keep nerfing the game and making it even more grindy and boring. And then begin to hoard yellow items for the new build, and try to make space in the crowded chest and mule characters…

I plan to pass on season 1 and hope for an improved player experience in subsequent seasons. The season 1 patch notes only confirmed my feeling that Diablo IV feels bad and needs improvement any more time investment on my part. Hopefully things will improve over the month ahead. Expand

When the game first came out it was amazing. I spent three weeks playing it and was going to take a break for the new season to come out. Fast forward to 7/19/23 they released a patch that nerfed everything about the game. I use to be able to push high level nightmare dungeons now it's not even worth it. 1.1 patch is a giant dumpster fire. Anything past level 80 is completely pointless. There have been no meaningful QOL changes that have been desperately needed already, not even but a little over a month after launch. 90% of what the community has asked for has been ignored/communication has been radio silent. I do not recommend touching this game for at least another year at this rate

People play games to have fun. Game was fun.
Blizzard patched the game, cut off everyone at the knees and now we’re dual wielding peg legs instead.
Game is no longer fun. So why play non fun game?

I had to make an account just to leave a review. I have never made an account to review a game or anything but this first season patch was so bad I changed my ways. This feels more like a scam at this point then a AAA game.

It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
