Game has a solid base, but no end game and the staff has made horrid decisions hiding changes from patch notes and changes in patch notes do not match the changes in game.

They will continue to disgrace the game as they want unless we react to this. We can show them how strong a community we are by deleting the game. We don't have to put up with this toxic ego team that doesn't listen to the gamer base. I dont want to see Diablo4 end up like D3.

And the story is frankly poorly written. The dialogue from your immediate allies characterizes lillith as a existential threat to sanctuary, but the cinematics run completely contrary to this. This applied more to inarius than it ever did to lillith. At the end my character made a choice I never would have made and it completely took me out of the experience. Expand

    Boring skill design.
A system where every time you level you feel weaker
    Bad UI
    Forgettable music
A story that is too intrusive to gameplay
    Low viable builds
    Boring end game
This game feels like an alpha but cost 100$

The game is incredibile repetitive, boring in the endgame. The skill's cooldown is the worst part of gameplay. Also the crafting system and itemisation are very poor and far away from that a true Diablo game deserve...all of this for a overpriced arpg with no fun in it. Well done

Diablo 4, the much-anticipated sequel to a beloved franchise, promised a return to the dark and gritty world of demon-slaying and loot-hunting. However, beneath its flashy exterior lies a deeply flawed and unfulfilling experience that fails to deliver on its core promises. From broken loot distribution and crafting systems to irrelevant character stats, it's clear that the developers'Diablo 4, the much-anticipated sequel to a beloved franchise, promised a return to the dark and gritty world of demon-slaying and loot-hunting. However, beneath its flashy exterior lies a deeply flawed and unfulfilling experience that fails to deliver on its core promises. From broken loot distribution and crafting systems to irrelevant character stats, it's clear that the developers' primary objective is to hinder players' sense of progression, achievement, and, most importantly, fun.

Loot distribution and the loot table in Diablo 4 are undoubtedly the Achilles' heel of the game. Players have been voicing their frustration across the internet, with one user on Metacritic stating, "The loot in this game is an absolute mess. I've spent hours grinding for loot, only to receive mediocre gear that does nothing to improve my character. It feels like a slap in the face to invest so much time and effort for no meaningful reward."

Moreover, the in-game crafting system is equally infuriating. The costs associated with crafting items are beyond reasonable, leaving players feeling like they're constantly fighting an uphill battle for minimal gains. Another disappointed player wrote, "Crafting is an absolute joke. The materials required are absurdly expensive, and the chances of getting something valuable are almost nonexistent. It's as if the developers want to punish us for trying to improve our gear."

One of the cornerstones of any ARPG is character progression and stats, but Diablo 4 manages to fumble this aspect spectacularly. Players have noticed that core character stats are broken, rendering certain builds useless or overpowered. As one disgruntled gamer put it, "It feels like the developers didn't even playtest the game. Some stats are so broken that they completely trivialize content, while others seem to have no effect at all. It's disheartening to see such a lack of balance and attention to detail."

Resistance defenses, a critical aspect of character survivability, are particularly baffling in Diablo 4. Multiple players have reported that resistance stats seem to have little to no relevance in actual combat scenarios. One player's harsh review reads, "Why even bother with resistance stats when they don't seem to protect you from anything? It's infuriating to invest in a supposed defense mechanism only to be killed just as easily as if you hadn't bothered at all."

Even the most recent patch for Diablo 4 has done little to address these fundamental issues. Instead of improving the overall experience, it seems the developers are more concerned with putting up barriers and roadblocks to hinder player progress and enjoyment. The general sentiment among players is that the developers are out of touch with the community's needs and desires, making the game feel like a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.

In conclusion, Diablo 4's problems run deep, and it's difficult to overlook the broken loot distribution, the expensive and unrewarding crafting system, and the lack of relevance in core character stats. The developers' lack of focus on player enjoyment and progression is evident in the most recent patch, solidifying the sense that their main objective is to hinder players rather than create an engaging and rewarding experience. As a fan of the franchise, it's disheartening to witness the decline of a once-great series. Let's hope the developers take these criticisms to heart and work to salvage the essence of what made Diablo so beloved in the first place.

I can appreciate there are people reviewing this game with little to no comparison of other ARPGs or other games from the Diablo franchise. At face value, this can be a fun story to play through.

Sadly, for all the fans who've been waiting years for this release and have witnessed the changes that were implemented into D3 to get it to where it is now, D4 is an absolute disappointment.

There are far too many negatives to point out, so I will just say what I like about the game and let you ponder on what that leaves out.

    - The art design is lovely (Wouldn't go so far as to say the map design is nice, maybe adequate)
    - Having a mount is nice (Too bad you're likely going to be running the game at 10 fps)
    -The Butcher

Virtually every other meaningful area of the game is lacking/sub par/improperly tested/purposely restrictive.

£69.99 price tag, by the way.

Diablo IV had a great foundation. The gameplay was almost good, the loot hunt was almost well done and the items were almost nicely designed. Unfortunately after the 1.1 patch notes it is clear that instead of making a great game, Blizzard has once again decided to ruin a good foundation.

I would strongly suggest anyone who is blinded by the marketing like I was to stay far far away

A large patch for only 6 uniques that aren't even good.

And an army of nerfs that nobody asked for, especially the poor Sorc players who have to witness as their already weak and underperforming class now perform even worse.

Not to mention **** server stability and netcode, along with town stuttering, mount that moves like it is walking through molasses and other performance issues that will take them until Season 666 to fix one of them.

Good thing for the deluxe edition players who have to pay them $100 for this garbage is that they can chose to activate the BP (yes, the $70 base P2P game has a BP and a skin shop) whenever they want. So they can chose to activate it until season 666 when this "patch" is reverted and Sorc finally gets buff.

And I'm even a Sorc player, I'm a freaking Barbarian. All classes were nerfed but Sorc got it the worst. Give them the buffs they deserved and they will GIVE YOU THE LONG RETENTION PLAYTIME YOU GUYS DESIRED.

Instead, they sit in echo chamber meetings to decide how THEY think this game should be changed to. This is why I am saying the game was released unfinished… they have made numerous game breaking changes since release. These changes should have been made during beta and before release. Instead, players grew attached to their play style and blizzard continues to change the state of the game (mostly through nerfs) and devalue the hard work many players have worked dozens of hours to achieve. In my case, I played the sorcerer to level 91. The sorcerer was ALREADY the weakest class dependent on specific mechanics to be even close to the lowest tier of all classes. Since the nerf, the gap between sorcerer and the other classes have widened. The DPS of the sorcerer was cut by 1/5 and survivability by at least 1/3. Recent patches targeted the mechanics that sorcerers were dependent on, now it feels like you are attacking with a wet noodle. Granted, all of my gear is close to BIS. Not even close to the next weakest class. This is a common issue with this class, and blizzard refuses to listen to the community. At this rate, this game will become unplayable. The game is truly beautiful and the mechanics were fun. Even though playing the weakest class (before patch 1.1) it was so much fun. Now that the class is nerfed to a point of being unplayable, it is truly frustrating that all the hours I poured in the game feels wasted. Here’s my warning to all: do not purchase this game, the early game mechanics will hook you in but the (continuous) end game changes will leave you dissatisfied and a company like blizzard have shown that they are unwilling to listen to the community. Whoever is in charge of community outreach should be replaced by someone that can be the bridge between the large player base and blizzard. Instead, there is a huge disconnect between the two. Expand

The cost of rebuilding your character to try new things is only possible if you, once again play 10+hours a day and even then is just ridiculous. Haven’t been able to run a dungeon solo since patch how I was having a hard time before the patch even happened.. I didn’t playing Diablo for 20 years. This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had.

    * I can't even rebind an exclusive "move" to my mouse wheel
    * You only have like 4 stash tabs that are account wide; there are no character-specific tabs and storage space is sorely limited
    * Certain things have pointless caps (what's even the point in capping the sigil materials at 10K or whatever?)
    * Build-diversity is nigh non-existent (there's like three viable core builds per class)
    * The paragon tree is awful and uninteresting (and missing essential QoL things like a reset button or being able to allocate nodes without committing)
    * Loot is extremely uninteresting (and there are no loot filters etc, making like 25% of your playtime reading item stats)
    * Dungeons are all super-samey and dungeon bosses are not challenging at all
    * World bosses and legions are of zero challenge as well (especially late-game)
    * Helltides are really boring and grindy (and since the patch, not even worth doing)
    * No trading (and no solo self-found)
    * Whisper quests are equally boring and grindy
    * PVP is utterly imbalanced and not fun at all (it's either just getting ganked by a group of higher level characters or getting one-shot by some lv.100 barbarian)
    * There's not really a single challenging or engaging boss fight in the whole game (except possibly Uber Lilith that I haven't done yet)
    * Leveling is a slow and boring slog
    * Renown is just a boring grind that you do once and end up exhausted after
    * Class balance is pretty terrible
    * Sorcerer has been rendered completely useless
    * Crafting is sub-par
    * Sigils are uninteresting

The season one patch took all the worst things about the game and made them worse. I had very low expectations and I'm still very disappointed. This is uncharacteristically out of touch, even for Blizzard who are known to make terrible patches

The game is lacking endgame content. For the 1st season of the game, Blizzard tries to extend the lifespan of the current content by slowing down the progress for the player. This is just dumb and lazy attempt at a solution. The correct solution would be to add more content but I guess that´s a far too difficult task for a badly managed game studio.

Not anymore. Patch 1.1 gutted every build and slowed the game down to a grinding halt. Less damage, reduced stat numbers on items, more garbage stats, less exp for monster kills, less cooldown reduction so combat encounters last longer, less rewards from helltides, less item drops from elite kills, less survivability, just to name a few of the changes. And of course, no QoL improvements and nothing that the game was sorely lacking besides a few bug fixes.

Blizzard see what the community asks for, do the exact opposite, and then do a fireside chat to justify it with "our developers have a vision". F*** off. Uninstalled. I might come back when you patch the fun back into your game.

I really tried to like this game.
Ive been watching pre- and reviews in which they said "It's like diablo 3 just better" so I didn't wait, like planned, till the season starts. I bought it to launch.
Oh boy, were the outlets wrong and oh boy have I been stupid. Yes the game is just like Diablo 3 but better… Like a slightly better launchversion of Diablo 3. Diablo 4 is a tedious slog.

Diablo 4 is a tedious slog. The story is quiet nice, if you like it.
But besights of that it is nothing else than a collection of boring chores.
I am especially annoyed by Activision Blizzards behavior.
They nerfed everything for the first week.
All the dungeons which you could use to level up were literally obliterated.
Sorry for heaving fun in dungeons with high mop density.
Then finally they said it's now time for buffs.
And they came and were actually good…. Until they took everything away from us, just to stretch game time.
I don't even talk about the class nerfs.
It's about the stats and the experience…
The worst it that they did not even publish every change.
They kept so many changes in secret, it is just embarrassing
Would love to get a refund for this game but sadly this is not possible..

That loyalty has since been plagued by incredible ignorance and ineptitude by the developers leaving the game feeling like an over-whittled plank of driftwood, with none of it's luster or sheen left over from the fine mahogany log it took years to cultivate.

There is a framework here that could have allowed stats and aspects to prop up nearly any build a player wished to build, but instead created the same niche-only game design we've seen from so many ARPGs in the last decade. With constant dilution hitting the games mechanics, the resulting gunk has little substance, and causes an already unpleasant grind to feel akin to quicksand.

On the cusp of their first season, the final legs of this framework are being shattered, and splintered, leaving little reason to attend.

A world of versatility and power was suddenly replaced with stifling constraints. The once robust Necromancers, Barbarians, Rogues, Sorceresses, and Druids faced crippling nerfs that stripped them of their former glory.

No relief came from the enchantment front either. The mysterious and potent art stayed as costly as ever, draining resources without a hint of mercy. The fiery Helltides, once swift as the wind, now languished at a snail's pace, mocking the determined players with their sluggish currents.

The art of Boosting, once a glorious race to the top, was crushed under the weight of patch 1.1, now resembling an uphill battle in waist-deep snow. The once diverse gameplay was corralled into Nightmare dungeons, where other challenges were reduced to mere whispers in the wind.

Experience bonuses that were once the spoils of defeating mighty adversaries became mere crumbs, a meager 10% of their former glory. The sensation of triumphant victory against higher-level beasts was replaced with a hollow echo of what once was.

The essence of combat, the critical strikes and vulnerability damage, faced the wrath of the patch as well. Slashed by 17% and 40% respectively, they further dimmed the once blinding brilliance of the game's weapons.

Diablo 4 was not a sprint; it was a marathon. But with the arrival of Patch 1.1, the marathon had turned into an endless crawl through a desert of nerfs, each oasis of fun seemingly further away than the last.

But there was no all-powerful Avatar, no master of all classes to rise and restore balance. Instead, a call to arms echoed amongst the players: It's time to speak up, to say 'enough is enough.' It wasn't about persevering silently or accepting the nerfed world; it was about making their voices heard, about standing up for the game they loved. Because when it comes to the games we play, the hope is not just something we give ourselves. It's something we demand from those who hold the reins. This is the true essence of player power.

I was very excited for this game and it seemed like Blizzard had finally gained an understanding of what diablo players wanted in D3. However they released this game in a regressed state from D3 and with the latest patch they are further showing that they either don't understand what players want, or they just don't care. Very disappointed. I will check back in on the game in season 10 or so.

BUT! when it comes to the animation of the item drops and how the items look on the ground then it feels like a cheap indie game and i can give only 1/10..this is just sad because item drops is all about in that game and it looks so bad...same with that hp potion icon that we have to collect to heal up, it looks so bad..also the font of the items that drop on the ground, feels like i would read some word document and not play a diablo game. Then the mass of items that drop all the time in that game, it feels bit boring walking all the time and deconstructing things..The dungeon quests are also bit weird.."pick up a stone and bring it from A to B" is ok i mean i could do that once or twice but not all the time, people make that kind of games at first lesson in programming school...or better "kill all monsters" ..the creators just have no imagination. The other bad thing is the price for that game..is way to high because it feels like some cheap game made by few people. The view on the character is kind of weird..looks like ppl from POE worked on it or something..missing a bigger zoom out for sure. Also when we get a reward at the end of some quest and a big chest drops from the air ..this looks like diablo 3 style or some torchlight game..it makes d4 not so atmospheric anymore. The other thing what i don't understand are the ratings for diablo 4 from PC magazines and why they are so high compared to normal player ratings...
    Last but not least..
Putting a store into the game with cosmetics is so - so, will not comment this BUT! the premium battle pass where people lvl or the option to lvl up for platin money (real money) is just pay to win, nothing left to say.

It takes the qualities to ruin ahead of time an experience that, even with many problems, had potential.
What's the point of extending a season patch to the inside world since the new mechanics will be eliminated in the third month.
With what courage can I now buy the Battle Pass, or rather with what desire can I face the new season which basically only has the mechanics of these hearts

As for WOW, Diablo 4, personally, is done with me too... they will be able to release all the seasons and DLCs they want but the point is that by now we can no longer trust Blizzard and that band of developers who after this patch have shown that they have never played the game they developed themselves.

I played Sorc, so color my words as you see fit.

Yeah, this is gonna get worse.

So... there were problems. Major problems. But D3 had similar problems, and they fixed it. And continued a rotation of fixing and breaking and it was ok - eventually I got tired of it all and stopped but I still put in 2 years in that game, so I got my money's worth. So D4 is going to come out strong, right? Right...?

Well, yes and no - they clearly had some good lessons learned. The game had some great moments at first. And Blizzard was trying to fix some of the major complaints with QoL. Nice!

Sorcs were busted in a bad way - sidekick to the sidekick levels of bad. But hey - balance patches fix everything! And season 1 is coming and that's when we'll see our patch! We eagerly wait 1.1.0

    Well, 1.1.0 dropped.

Holy shirt. They made it worse. They literally took every complaint and ignored them. They made the game mathematically worse in every way. Every build players made to try and cope with some of the bad game designs were absolutely destroyed across the board. The best classes got squashed, and the worst classes got caught in the same crush. Sorcs are unplayable. Poor damage and survivability BEFORE the patch GOT MUCH MUCH WORSE. There's no playtesting being done. There's no thought being put into the game at all. All of the QoL changes we asked for were ignored. There's no consistent benefit to playing anymore - and Blizzard hasn't shown any desire to make it happen. They just want to push the battle pass. Why? Because it's an income stream. That's all that matters to them. Shut up and buy the battle pass.

My friends and I were having fun playing. We aren't anymore. I wasted money on this game.

The least they could do is make up for it with good skills or something...but I'm still using 2 skills only because the rest suck so much...notLack of builds, lack of skills, levels mean nothing... you're more powerful speeding through the game than leveling. Game was in a good state just before the start of season 1. Instead of listening to feedback, Blizzard went on and decided to gut their entire game by nerfing literally everything. All in an attempt to make people have to play longer instead of making the game more fun. 0 out of 10 until they revert what is probably the worst patch ever seen in gaming.

Big pile of dog poop. Which the devs then ask you to clean up. With your hands.

The campaing and pre-season were the best fun I had for a while and I'm extremely grateful. But then the season 1 patch dropped and remove all the fun for the game, nerfing every class and vulnerability damage and crit damage and so on. Sure the buffed acrros the board the damage but it doesn't get closer as it was before, also nerfing aspects.. c'mon men.
I hope the devs really listen this time.

It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
