They slowed lvling down and significantly nerfed the power levels players. The game just feels bad to play atm. We got no qol improvements. Basically anything players love doing that is fun. The dev team nerfs it. They don’t allow us to play the game however we the players want to play the game. Fun game don’t get me wrong but very annoying and disappointing with how the dev team responds to the player base. 1 to 5 % of YouTubers with 300 plus hours play time show off their million crit builds. As soon as us normies start following a build it gets nerfed. I think I’m done with the game I may be back season 3 or 4… Expand

    The game is just not fun. And the devs keep removing anything the players find fun. As a service-based game which have updates all the time, they just made the game worse and worse. After 1 month of updates, they managed to completely remove all the fun parts from the game, leaving only unrewarding grinding. So disappointed at this game.

    I played in all the betas - which were more like alpha testing. Game launched and already things had changed enough that the classes I enjoyed were not as much fun.
    After launch I had to change my build multiple times due to patches and shadow nerfs (seriously, these patch notes are terrible, no wonder your code is full of bugs). And respeccing is TERRIBLE. It is so unwieldy to change because of how many points and how terrible gear itemization is that when forced to respec IT FEELS LIKE WORK. Actually that’s a theme my husband and I experienced a lot this past month; this game feels like WORK in a way D3 never did.
    And the hits keep on coming.
    What the actual fart are these devs thinking with these huge, blanket nerfs? Why did I login after a patch and suddenly lose 10 levels of content completion ability?
    Do not give these jokers your money.
    They haven’t fixed any of the bugs I dutifully reported after paying for the privilege to do their QA testing for them. There are still RAM leaks; the code is bloated and takes up a ridiculous amount of space on your hard drive. A patch with what seems to be limited content was TEN GIGS. What the what, curse your eyes, devs! Whoever decided engagement metrics were more important than PLAYERS FEELING LIKE HEROES - WHICH WE DO NOT - should be fired, immediately.
    They clearly have ZERO LESSONS LEARNED FROM PREVIOUS LAUNCHED OF THE SAME TITLE, not to mention this game is missing TONS of quality of life improvements that D3 has, and don’t get me started on the stash space; 4 tabs, gems use slots, shared across characters? You want us to be creative and make new builds but don’t even give us the space to collect gear to experiment! No way to save builds for easy switching? MANUALLY SINGLE CLICKING TO UNSPEND EACH PARAGON POINT ONE BY ONE?! Horses that seem to have no horse shoes; rubberbanding on the map; game freezes at world boss; server lag that makes you lose your helltide cinders; RAM leaks and CPU cores overheating; the list goes on and on and on.
    You get one point because the game is pretty and the story didn’t suck.

    The devs are slowing everything down and making everything worse. This season 1 Patch has to be one for the worst ARPG patches I have ever seen. Nerfs on everything and no quality of life improvements. Zero concern for the community. They got their paycheck. If they don't start listening to feedback, the game will not make it to the first expansion.

    Shame Devs care about Nerfing every aspect that could make the game FUN. The cool itens are near imposible to get. One patch and The itens and aspects you lost hours farming become **** . The worst is to know the game was better at the beta then on season 1.

    Main story is good but I hope to see an actual road map like what they did for WoW, so we don’t need to be waiting aimlessly.

    All they do is slow the game expecting users to spend their life in this game. 99% major patch = how to make users suffer and spend time longer doing anything in this game. Waste of time playing. just go play POE or Last Epoch or Baldurs Gate 3. Blizzard is dead 10 years ago with the real Lich King.

    I bought the most expensive ultimate edition preorder , and played as a casual player, and bought 4 more copies for my friends to play with me, after this latest patch. I figured that I shouldnt have wasted that money.     Spent 300 hours getting to level 100 with Barbarian. Gearing him up to do nightmare dungeons and blizzard in there wisdom decided to nerf the crap out him 50% less damage and defences. What a total waste of my time and money. Stick your seasons up your arse blizzard.

    The Season 1 patch makes leveling up, and finding loot, 2 to 3 times more difficult. I'm not sure why this was done, if it's to draw out the amount of time people spend in the game, I feel like it will backfire and more players will get fed up with the tedium and quit instead. Personally, I'll try this game again in a year or so to see if the devs have fixed it.

    For the ARPG fanatics, you will spend hours picking up and selling items looking for upgrades to find next to nothing. If you want to reroll your gear, well that's too bad because it's going to cost you fifteen minutes if you're lucky, upwards of DAYS if you're unlucky.

    ARPG players are always going to try to find the most efficient build, the hardest hitting build, the speedfarm build. Yet if you land in the crosshairs of Blizzard nerf hammer and wish to respec, well you're just going to be out 2 hours of YOUR time. Blizzard loves to publish how many hours people are spending on Diablo 4 but really from what I see in the gameplay mechanics, Blizzard is intentionally slowing players down in the game to farm those hours out of us.

    This game as it is right now is a tedious, annoying chore. I encourage you to skip out and check back in a year or so if Diablo is still alive. There are many other games worth playing where the development teams behind the game don't hinder your progress with annoying mechanics and nerfs and instead actually challenge you in interesting ways.    … Expand

    1 for the effort. The best thing I can say about the game is that some of it looks nice. Story, gameplay, bosses, build variety, itemization, QoL all below sub-par. Way to underperform, Blizzard. Not worth the absurdly high price.

    The game itself has great art direction and the combat system is fluid however the future of this game hinges on braindead developers who do not play their own games. Constant changes to make this game more of a slog instead of focused on fun.

    I can't recommend this game to anyone.
    - no class balance what so ever
    - no build diversity at all, boring builder/spender system
    - no endgame at all
    - poor itemization, for a game that's all about magic finding, there's nothing to chase, there's no carrot
    - horribly incompetent dev team that consists of diversity hires instead of talented game designers.

    Itemization leave a lot to be desired and there are too many conditional affixes on items. The entire system needs to be simplified. There is very little build diversity and most of the skill changes that make a build viable are on aspects or die codex and not on the skill tree where they belong. This game is not so much about picking up good loot. It's more about crafting your own loot. This takes away the excitement of picking up a good item. And comparing items takes forever, due to the weird affixes and the amount of rare items that drop. It should drop few with higher quality.

    Difficulty scales with level and you will not feel like you are getting stronger until you find better loot. If you are unlucky the game will get harder rather than easier.    … Expand

    Diablo 4's latest patch has everything to do with destroying the Eternal Realm. Yes, the Eternal Realm may seem "less important" because it won't feature these cool seasonal mechanics that we're supposed to enjoy, but, you can't access, you guessed it: The Battle Pass, in the Eternal Realm.

    Big shocker right?

    When you start to think logically that all of these "game designs and mechanics" were built around a corporate "for profit" scheme, you will understand that the Blizzard that used to exist, is simply a corpse that has been exploded by the greedy Millionaire/Billionaire Necromancer's, that prop up this corpse of a company.

    They sucked the soul out of this game, which actually had a solid foundation, and only needed a few solid tweaks to really solidify it's future, however, these corporate idiots cannot comprehend that empathizing and understand your player base over making disgusting greedy decisions isn't possible.

    Why else would they reduce cooldown reduction by 30%? It's arguably the most important nerf in this new patch. If you can't reset your cooldowns fast enough, you can't use your skills faster, ultimately, slowing down the game and progress you would've made in the game.

    Why else would they reduce damage reduction by 25%, and completely gut the Aspect of Disobedience, the best defensive aspect in the game? It's the exact same concept, you die more, so it ultimately takes LONGER to get best in slot gear, and reach late endgame content.

    Speaking of endgame content, there is none. This is why they are making these changes. It's why they tried to sneak in capstone dungeon level caps of 40 and 60 without telling us.

    It's why they ultimately giga nerfed power leveling, boosting, and group leveling as a whole. Honestly, they just nerfed leveling and XP in general, because they understand that there's not enough content at the end of the game for you to enjoy.

    They want to keep you in the game as long as possible, so you have the most amount of expose to the battle pass, and the more time you're in the game, the more time you will be exposed to the battle pass, and more likely to spend money on cool look cosmetics for weapons, armor or your horse.

    Congratulations on somehow managing to kill off every excitement in the playerbase about the future on this game. This has definitely been the worst first major patch a game has ever received.

    Diablo 4 is one of the most boring arpg with paper thin depth. With stupid design decisions like aggresive level scaling and only 5 skill slots, your experience from level 20-100 remains the same.
    Basically the entire game revolves around, press "basic" skill to get mana, press "core" skills to spend mana, everything else is mostly buffs, so you are using the same 2 attacks all the way.     Basically the entire game revolves around, press "basic" skill to get mana, press "core" skills to spend mana, everything else is mostly buffs, so you are using the same 2 attacks all the way.
    If you try any other way like inserting 3 dps, you will your efficiency drop by a lot even on low levels.
    The devs so self indulgent that they start spouting **** like build variety, which is total bs. There's about 2 builds probably that can be used till endgame, and some classes probably 1.
    The side quests are so bottom tier fetch quests, which are, "go here kill 3 monsters or pick 3 things, and return"

    There are quite a number of issues that plague the game that needed to be fixed, but imagine the devs is so out of their mind they didnt fix any of them and added "teleporting out from the dungeon now take 5 secs instead of 3"...... who in the right mind even thought of this?

    They nerfed the hell out of "cooldown reduction" because they saw so many people are using it... do they even understand why so many people are using it??? Because waiting for cooldowns for 10 secs and then doing 3 attacks and waiting for cooldown again is NEVER fun. And so what they did? They remove the "fun".

    I bought D4 because my last arpg was Diablo 2, and I was excited for a new one with the premise that they have learn from the mistakes of D3. But never again, remember guys, Blizzard is dead, the one making the game are no longer the same people with same vision. It's a group of self indulgent people thinking that they know everything better than you and will not listen to criticism.

    Play Wolcen, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, or Path of Exile, they are all miles better, yes, even Wolcen is much better. The only positive things about D4 is the art style, music, and cinematics, everything else is boring trash.    … Expand

    Diablo4 development team works really hard to make the game boring. Rather than buffing other builds, they decided to make every build bad in order to get to the 'balance'. I was a Blizzard fan, spent countless time on their game, but Diablo4 will be my last Blizzard game and never trust Blizzard again in my life.

    Actual disgrace. Hopes were high but selling an unfinished product and making it worse with every patch is a new low. The best part for me was the story, but while that's nice, the story is not what I paid 70 bucks for!

    patch 1.1 was the nail in the coffin for this dying game. People play games for fun. to escape dreaded lives sometimes even... And Blizzard has this destructive pphilosophy, where if a player having fun in a game, then that must be stopped some how. All in the name of "Balancing".... ARPG without the action. What a wasted opportunity, it turned out this way.

With the newest patch, I have decided to take some time off from the game. Minimal QoL changes, and they have have slowed the game down so much with the insane nerfs. All to try to keep people in the game longer to tryEnjoyed certain aspects of this game, but this is a game that doesn't know what it wants to be.     Done with Blizzard and their focus on monetization. You'd think they would learn from their previous Diablo titles and improve on this. Guess I should not be surprised with how they handled Overwatch 2 and the direction the company is taking. Hate the fact that the cooperate greed is more important that a quality game.

    The recent patch notes prior to the first season are just the tip of the iceberg, blizzard is absolutely tone deaf and somehow managed to kill of the last few parts of the game that were even remotely rewarding.

    If you want to play the first season, you better not choose you class by playstyle or lore preference, because chances are, you will be unable to complete the endgame.
    You need to look up guides and third party sites, to make absolutely SURE, that your favorite class did not just get gutted SO HARD, that it is now, in the truest sense of the word, UNVIABLE.

    It is truly baffling and kinda scary, how incompetent the people in charge at a company this big can be. Thinking about how much money is involved here and how casually such brand ruining decisions are being made is crazy. Chances are, after the live service part of the game flops, some pretty wild excuses will be made to explain it.    … Expand

    * Gearing is bad (you're literally only looking for % damage increases or your classes main stat), the mods on items have conditionals but you simply just don't use mods with conditionals that aren't up close to 100% of the time.
    * The horse is an absolute insult, it's barely faster than walking on foot even if if worked correctly and it does    On release, the game had quite a few issues.
    * Gearing is bad (you're literally only looking for % damage increases or your classes main stat), the mods on items have conditionals but you simply just don't use mods with conditionals that aren't up close to 100% of the time.
    * The horse is an absolute insult, it's barely faster than walking on foot even if if worked correctly and it does not most of the time on top of that your movement speed on the horse is dependent on your mouse distance from the center of the screen, what dev thought this was a good idea is beyond me, what actually happened is probably that someone ported this from their console implementation and thought it's good enough (it's really not).
    * The endgame basically doesn't exist. You farm the same Nightmare Dungeons and that's it, there are other activities but they're either much less fun or the game forces you into it, for example, you have to do Helltides so you get necessary materials for rerolling mods on items, if those weren't exclusive to Helltide events you just would not go there, on top of that the decision to make them timed makes it even worse, you can't even farm them whenever you want.
    * To add to the extremely bland and uninspired end game, everything is scaled, so you feel like you aren't really progressing towards anything, gameplay wise it really doesn't make a difference if you're farming Level 30 or Level 90 Nightmare dungeons, as soon as you can do higher tiers you just move up and all upgrades you made are relativized again making you feel like you constantly just spin in a circle, except the interface on the left now displays a higher Nightmare dungeon level.
    * The only thing you have to look forward to is Uber Lillith which, while it is a challenging fight it's mostly through throwing the same boring mechanic at you that just simply oneshot-kills you on contact.
    * The general balance is horrible, certain classes are leaps and bounds better than others, balance within classes is just as bad, not only is Sorcerer extremely bad in general, unless you play Ice Shards the already bad class becomes even worse.
    * To add insult to injury, Sorcerers also play extremely bad, you're expected to have a Spender skill which drains your mana and a generator skill which generates mana, eventually you're supposed to generate so much mana through gear and talents that you no longer require a generator skill, however, up until that point sorcerer is extremely painful since the generator skills are simply worthless and quite literally deal only around 5% the damage of your spender on top of not generating all that much mana so eventually you just come to the conclusion to just not use a generator since instead doing nothing and waiting for passive mana regeneration is more effective, which makes for insanely frustrating and straight up boring gameplay, on top of Sorcerers numbers in general being a joke compared to other classes.
    * While I've seen people praise the story I for the life of me cannot understand the general good sentiment, while the story itself isn't bad it's really nothing special, it contains a lot of sections that pretty much feel like filler which really isn't acceptable for the pricetag and the campaign being a main selling point, on top of that the villain often doesn't feel consistent and feels schizophrenic, however, not in a good, intended way, rather it feels like multiple writers were responsible for different sections of the game and said writers simply never communicated with each other.
    While the cinematics are really nice and well made, the story they depict is pretty nonsensical and requires some amount of suspension of disbelief, the ending itself had potential to be quite good but then turns out hilariously bad and is simply just an incredibly bad setup for the next DLC.

    All in all, the meme saying that caught on really is true and summarizes the entire game in just 5 characters; D4 Bad.

    Oh, the devs aren't done yet though. All issues mentioned above are from the launch state of the game. You'd think the first major patch of the game would alleviate at least some of the glaring issues people had with the game, instead, they managed to fix almost nothing and instead managed to simply make the game straight up worse, for example, cooldown reduction was blanket nerfed which means Sorcerers have even more time to think about why they're even playing this game in between waiting for their cooldowns and mana to come back.    … Expand

    So much money for such a game. Endgame is actually not present at all. What it's really about is the loot. And Blizzard really didn't manage that well. The classes are totally unbalanced. For example, the wizard is no longer playable.

    Love Diablo 3 at the moment

    Made the bad worst and the meh bad, total disconnection with the player base, and they said that they wore games themselves.
    Its just crazy to think that i pre-order this game to just play 50h and get bore and after a month the dev's just took the little fun that had left and piss on it.

The developers are doing everything they can to slow down progression due to lack of end game by nerfing experience gain to a slog. Itemization is a joke. The only decent items are locked behind a drop rate that ensures no one will get them. Diablo 4 missed the mark by a long shot after 8 years of development. Do not buy this game… Expand

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
