    I knew this game would be bad just from the footage from the beta but I decided to buy it just to give it a chance with friends. I have thousands of hours playing diablo 2 and have been a fan of the franchise since my early childhood. I had more fun playing Chronicon for $12 off steam then my $90 copy of diablo 4, and Chronicon doesn't even have multiplayer which is a huge downfall.I knew this game would be bad just from the footage from the beta but I decided to buy it just to give it a chance with friends.     When you play ARPG's you expect to be fighting through hordes of monsters with a badass character and the game to feel good. What you get out of diablo 4 is an empty desert devoid of life while you kill 3 skeletons because they are afraid of packsize.

    This game is absolutely horrible, the systems are overly complex to try to pretend it has depth like POE. When it is just complex to be complex. Example: 30% fire resistance, reduces fire damage by 14.8%. Not to mention that all damage snapshots, so if you get a damage over time on you like poison and you press your 1 defensive cooldown with 50% reduced damage taken. It doesn't do anything to reduce the damage at all, the damage is snapshotted before you had the damage reduction.    … Expand

    Updated my review after playing S1. Score is average because it feels like an unfinished game for the price. However, the art and music are excellent. There are still a lot of bugs that need to be fixed, but I am having fun so it's not too bad.

    Started strong then the changes in patch 1.1 just before season 1 sent this game from very good to worse than BF 2042 at launch. It's clear they're trying to force the playerbase into paying for seasons by downgrading the permanent experience as much as possible.     Live service games deserve live service ratings Latest patch on 7/18/23 ruined the game 100%. The devs don't respect your time or mine. Respect your own time and don't get this game.

    7/21 live stream outlined future changes, trying to have hope for this game.

    Devs are completely out of touch, and think nerfing everything (like cooldown reduction by 30%?!) to slow people down is a substitute for adding additional content. Don't waste your money.

    i have spent at least 20k-30k hours with diablo games, mostly diablo 2, but diablo 4 is the most boring one so far, i played 2 characters to 100 and feel like there was almost nothing to remember about. the game is a disappointment to me, even the ingame music has nothin to it (except the Tristram quest xD)

    I am revising my previous review, the game has excellent bones. It clearly had a very passionate and competent team during most of the design process. But at some point all those passionate and competent people went missing, whether they were fired or quit I can't say. But right now the entire Diablo 4 team is less competent than even JAGEX of all companies and its not even close. It takesI am revising my previous review, the game has excellent bones. It takes them weeks to fix massively impactful bugs and issues, they release things broken and not working, they do basically nothing and barely have any new content flowing despite the promises of massive changes each season.

    All of this not to even mention the fact that they haven't got a single person on the team capable of even the most basic creative design decisions anymore. Generic and garbage aspects and uniques, their team that already needs 700 man hours to issue a basic PR to even start working on a basic day-to-day bug is for some reason wasting their already inefficient and limited time on an 'uber unique' system in a game that HAS NO TRADING and therefore literally no one will ever get the items even if they played 10,000 hours straight (you probably think I'm exaggerating but I'm really not).

    Blizzard is dead. Kotick has destroyed the company finally. The OW2 scandal and the Diablo 4 situation are not unique, this is the norm from this trash company now.    … Expand

There are some good and at least one fantastic throne-contendor titles out there, where one (despite the fact that their own series should have provided loads of knowledge) could learn what a good ARPG is made of.
    And yet D4 has so much **** game design choices behind it. Like boring loot or    We are in the year 2023. Blizzard should be very experienced what it means to develop a good ARPG. There are some good and at least one fantastic throne-contendor titles out there, where one (despite the fact that their own series should have provided loads of knowledge) could learn what a good ARPG is made of.
    And yet D4 has so much **** game design choices behind it. Like boring loot or classes that are so endlessly slow-paced and boring in the levelling process that io cannot play more than 20 minutes before asking myself, why I waste my gaming time on such a title. The world is large and (surprise surprise) mostly bleak and not interesting. And the thing that I despise the most is the fact, that (before dipping deep into endgame -maybe) your character gets weaker with every level! I mean what the **** after 15h of playing, the ****ing starting area skeletons take 3 more hits than when u first encountered them. And all that for the hefty 70-Euro price tag. Shame on Blizzard.
    5/10 is my realistic opinion (game's price-tag considered)    … Expand

    At launch this game was more boring than previous Diablo titles but the foundation for greatness was there. Unfortunately, it has only gone downhill since. Nerf after nerf, every single patch has been tailored to slow down an already arduous grind. It's obvious that they have their launch money and don't care about the future of the game.

    S1 1.1 Patch is literally a slowdown to the entire game.

    They made changes NOBODY wanted and changes people wanted were completely ignored. How out of touch can they be? The devs DO NOT play their own bloody game.

    Back then I had mixed feelings after playing Diablo 2 and 3 for the first time, the impression was not very good, Diablo 1 and Path of Exile remain the top, but still I played it a lot. Diablo 4 had the same mixed feeling again, although it took the best of Diablo 2, 3 and Immortal. Hack and slash aRPGs probably won't be able to satisfy me anymore, definitely not for 70 euros on Battlenet.

    Until Season 1, everything was great; after that, it went downhill. Why do you keep introducing new characters for the new seasons? Could you not proceed similarly to World of Warcraft (WoW), where players can experience every seasonal content with their main character, such as through Season Stones for seasonal dungeons? And then these extremely rare uniques, where the drop chance is at 0.00000000001? What starts off as a great addition to the series, quickly becomes extremely boring with a lack of end-game content or interesting things to do outside of nightmare dungeons. Balancing has been all over the place since the beginning and the first major patch was a giant miss to many players with communication. The first season is monotonous in tone and scope and only adds to the inventory problem. The devs need to really get inventive on the base game and seasons going forward. This game probably needs another year or even an expansion before it finally feels good. A lot of promise, but falls far from delivery. The story starts at a high, grounds to a terrible slow mid game and then picks up at the end. Cinematics are top notch and voice acting. Graphics are glorious at times, but we cannot properly see every detail with how the game plays, also please add more camera zoom in/out features soon. The devs are committed to fixing the game, but the game needed another 6-12 months in the oven realistically. I may update my score at a later date but this is a mid-game and most streamers have stepped away from this game for now and the views on Youtube etc are dwindling.… Expand

    Diablo 4 is a great foundation and jumping off point for out of touch developers who took the most engaging parts of the game at launch and made them objectively worse in the very first content patch. Let's hope they turn it around before too many people move on.

    If you try to push high dungeon levels, it is basically either you one shot the enemies or they one shot you.     Giving it a 2 because I honestly have to force myself to even open the game.

    It is so disgusting that this is a $70 game (minimum.)

    Unfinished game. Blizzard decided to nerf everything because players were completing the campaign and material too quickly. No effort to improve other classes or weak builds, just nerfing skills and items. You wake up and your character does 40% of the damage you used to, what a joke. I would steer away and look for games such as baldur's gate 3.

    I had a lot of fun playing this game for quite a while. But after many hours of play to get a character of a reasonable amount of power Blizzard decides to nerf the crap out of my build. I honestly don't understand why Blizzard feels that it is their job to make sure no one is having too much fun. I paid $70 for the game, invested many hours into it and then this. And just to add icing toI had a lot of fun playing this game for quite a while. But after many hours of play to get a character of a reasonable amount of power Blizzard decides to nerf the crap out of my build. I honestly don't understand why Blizzard feels that it is their job to make sure no one is having too much fun. I paid $70 for the game, invested many hours into it and then this. And just to add icing to the cake they ruined the best part of the end game - Helltides, which are no longer worth the time to do.… Expand

    Diablo Dev in a nutshell: uodate everything that is fun.
    How do we get players to play more and longer hours?
    Reduce exp gain, add more walls, slow them down, make them wait longer.

    How do we make it challenging for players? Nerf class skills, nerf damage, nerf items, nerf aspects, buff monster.

    Also, delete sorcerer

    The Developers don't want you to have fun in this game. They keep buffing and nerfing the characters back and forth with no real vision. Not to mention they updated the game to make people grind longer with 99.9% useless and duplicated loot.

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
