    Extremely disappointed with the 1.1.0 patch. There are too many fundamental, unwarranted balance changes. This could have been a chance to capitalize on the season 1 hype. Power gaming is part of the reason a lot of us play and now all classes/characters are weaker.

    The game is incredibly shallow. The main campaign is short and pretty boring if I am honest. The end game is also uninspiring. The dungeons and boss fights quickly feel reused and repetitive. The loot is largely garbage. Also the game is missing a lot of quality of life mechanics that have pretty much become the standard. These might be added later. Potentially in the cash shop.

    This game is meant for season players only. Season characters are only good for that season. My understanding is that seasons will last three months. This is where the new content is. New content as of now will not make its way to the permanent server. This means a player will need to level four characters a year to see the new content.

    Speaking of the server. I have seen a lot of people reporting having issues with disconnects. I only experienced this a couple times. Nothing excessive but probably worth mentioning as it has definitely been a talking point.

    Now the patch and season one. What Blizzard pulled was the classic bait and switch. They boosted the characters to make the game a more enjoyable experience at launch. Then crushed the permanent server players with nerfs. I am hoping for a No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk type rebound for the game. I would not hold my breath though.

    If the experience that is available today was available when the game was released; it would hold a couple more records. It would still be the fastest selling game of all-time. However it would also hold several games returned records.    … Expand

    Level scaling ruins what could have been a great game. I love a lot of things about this game but I just can't get behind this level scaling system. Really ruins the feeling of character progression. I haven't had any of those cool "oh **** moments where I run into an area that's too high level I have to go grind for.     The game was quite good, yes, It has a lot of work to be done: quite routine endgame content, some skills were useless, game has some bugs with armor / resistances. And what the Blizzard do in the "big patch"? They slowing down game instead of balancing things and making new endgame activities. Amazing. 0/10, that shows us the real attitude for players

    to top it off as a big middle finger to their playerbase that were dumb enough to spend money on a blizzard game, they also made teleporting out of a dungeon 5 seconds instead of 3... why? that's anyone's guess but I think it's only to inflate playtime.... yay wasting people time for no reason..

    i'm just sad that they took a game with already some issues that could be better and possibly a great arpg if they decided to fix those but then they decided to just throw it in the garbage because of that horrible dev team. the diablo franchise will never be the same.    … Expand

    Forget Diablo until now. The current developers are incompetent. In response to the lack of content, they take steps to increase playtime by slowing down the growth rate. It's like taking steps to slow down the roller coaster to the customer's response that the roller coaster is short.

The Diablo 4 team has seemingly invested in the idea that very few players represent the mass of players. It took me weeks to finally get the unique piece I needed, only to have the whole class nerfed the next day.     Graphics, animations, sounds, open world and its scale (sth. new to Diablo franchise and it’s very good!), world locations are at 50/50 some are good and interesting some are total thrash.

    The issues are again… music in some locations. Character progression is not the best, it’s very limited and boring, gives no fun after level 40+.
    The biggest issue for me is the main story/plot. It’s total **** and my 6yo daughter could write something better. I know it’s Diablo but the previous parts had at least a coherent story and background lore. This is a freaking dumpster fire, dull, rigged with some pro-feminism aspects and it’s hardly bearable.

    The loot, the end game is also very weak and boring. With the recent changes the game is getting rely in reviews so I’m not gonna add anything here.    … Expand

    Chaotic, problematic, worst game update of the history. I been a gamer for 30+ years who enjoyed diablo 2 very much and never ever seen any update like this. Now, Blizzard is just not the best game creator no-more. I am so disappointed in this game wish i can get my $90 back if possible.

    I purchased the game under the impression that it was going to be a sequel to Diablo 3, instead I got a Diablo Immoral II without the pay-2-win loot system. While I enjoyed progression through the campaign power seems to come to an abrupt stop once you reach the end game. You're forced to run tedious activities that have only gotten worse with each patch. Character progression in the endI purchased the game under the impression that it was going to be a sequel to Diablo 3, instead I got a Diablo Immoral II without the pay-2-win loot system. While I enjoyed progression through the campaign power seems to come to an abrupt stop once you reach the end game. You're forced to run tedious activities that have only gotten worse with each patch. Character progression in the end game is tied to generic gear drops where there's a bunch of different pieces of Armour in each slot but they all receive the same attributes and stat ranges. No variance in the gear leads to both rare and legendary items being the exact same. There's about 1 good unique for each class and the rest are uniquely useless out side of the uber uniques. Uber uniques are the mythical items that the community are told exist, but you would have to play for thousands of hours just to find someone wearing one that they got legitimately. Blizzard for the other 99.99% of players, uber uniques only exist in screenshots. I'll never understand why half of the usable uniques were cut out of the game.

    One huge reason for diablo's success has been its loot systems that were based around Magic find. Unfortunately in DIablo 4 the gear has only gotten worse since the game's release. A big reason loot is terrible is because blizzard decided to move stats off of gear and put it into the paragon system. This has resulted in loot becoming substantially worse in Diablo 4, so much so that if you turn off damage number and swap gear you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Moving stats from gear to paragon has effectively turn MFing into garbage picking. You spend more time looking through the trash you picked up doing doing a NMD than it takes to do the dungeon.

    tl;dr The game's loot system may just be the worst loot I've seen in an ARPG. It has become tedious to even look at loot in the game because it's so bad. Gear upgrades become small fast around level 70 and after that each paragon point begins to give more of a bonus than you would expect on a gear slot upgrade. Considering you get a paragon point ever 25% of a level, it makes looting feel worthless. Paragon points are not exciting. 70-100 takes a LONG time solo, which has only been made worse by experience and damage nerfs. You're going to receive 80+% of loot you in between 70-100. Having to look through 10-20 loot pulls to find a slot upgrade at level 70 is a nightmare when you know the upgrade is less than a paragon point. SMFH    … Expand

    Don't listen to the squeaky wheels, this game is worth a buy if you are a true ARPG fan. There is enough content out right now to keep you busy for hundreds of hours, and it's only getting better. QoL changes are coming, balancing is in the works, and character build options are increasing.

    Blizzard have become a greey corporation dead set and artificially inflating playtime due to the lack of content. Typical game as a service model where you elongate the content to better keep eyes on the game so they spend more of battle passes and cosmetics, but at the cost of the enjoyment and fun. Diablo is a casual game that's doing everything wrong.

This allows their streamer partners and whoever else they are protecting to retain godlike items for the remainder of the game.     We are all so disappointed and will not touch this game any more and most likely not another piece of blizzard "game" again. This is ridiculous and it's so obvious the only reason is that they want people to buy battle passes.

    The game was decent during the campaign. The story is quite good, the characters are not bad and the cinematics are insanely good. The characters and the world look really good. No problem there. The sound is also very good, I have no problem with sound design.

    I don't work because of long term sickness and for months I have been looking for something to get into long term as I have never really mastered a game. Diablo 4 was the one.     I'm 46 years old, have been playing PC games for more than 25 years. I have almost never written a game review, except for 5 games review in Steam so far. Here, I took my time to register and write a review about diablo 4 because IT IS AS BAD AS THE SAY (latest patch).

    The development philosophy seems to be the standard one from Blizzard. Players will take turns being powerful. However, their concept of what powerful should be is hilariously out of tune with the rest of the ARPG market. The same way your character plays at level 5 is likely to be the way it plays at level 100 unless you get perfect gear.

    The worst part of the game is that it isn't fun. You will be pulled forward by the feeling of completing the story and leveling to get to the next tier of content from levels 1-50. Once you get to the next tier you will find that the fun falls off. Gear doesn't make major changes to your character and nothing on the Paragon board does either.

    Worst of all, the developers have a philosophy that will result in your character becoming less powerful if you are playing something that is above C tier. Since the power curves are still almost exactly the same as they were before their most recent path 1.10 it seems very likely the Nerf bat will be hitting again.

    The game has graphical hitches randomly on my 3080 where whole seconds will freeze. Likely, there is something wrong with their texture streaming. This is when I am in the middle of a fight with bosses or other mobs, so it isn't something I would expect. I'm using an AMD 5600 with a Western Digital Black drive. If you are on a similar (or lower) setup there is a good chance you will have glitches.

    The game is also exceedingly buggy in ways that are baffling. One quest requires you to change your in-game FPS to make it so that you can complete it. You will be trapped at a wall that you can't kill with NPCs that are supposed to kill it unless you zone into the dungeon with 1 FPS.

    That's the kind of game you are playing. The design philosophy is one of tedium and the game play is tied to your FPS.    … Expand

In all honesty, this is my first Diablo game and enjoyed the first 40 hours with my friends, but realized I wasn't getting anything back for my time. The legendaries and good loot wouldn't be enough for me (Sorcerer) to be viable in the ene game content compared to other classes. When you've done all the statues and main story, things fall off after level 70 because you're left with nothing new to do. Tree of Whispers becomes repetitive, world bosses don't spawn enough, helltides are now bugged. You're left grasping for straws trying to get a unique in hopes it will being back the dopamine of fun you had in the beginning.… Expand

A level 70 player is going to fill the pain and will have to grind for several weeks to get back to where they were. The full time career gamers who play over 50 hours a week barely even notice. They have max level everything and perfect or near perfect gear. It wasn't a balance patch it was an intentional bump back for the majority of their player base. If they do it once, they likely will do it again. Very frustrating to get the stats needed for several important bonuses, sign in the next day and your gear and skills have had stats removed and now you have to completely rebuild to get them back. The game is very VERY thin on endgame loot. There is nothing very unique or exciting to find. You are literally just doing the same activity over and over again in the same manner, to once again port back to town, to disassemble or sell off another large collection of trash. Over and over again. No gear upgrades. Nothing exciting or new happens. That's the endgame. Trash loot recycling simulator.

    Now, Blizzard looked at their players' progression and said "They've progressed to the depressing and pointless endgame too quickly! We have to make it harder for them to get there!" and are nerfing any and all abilities that could make a player feel "powerful" or even "capable" of completing the endgame content (which is already thin, boring and fruitless).

    This is all being done in the name of "engagement" which is the term game devs use to describe "addiction and manipulation tactics" to keep you locked to their game and not able to play any other game. FOMO BS that almost all game devs are using these days. "Seasonal" drip-fed content that keeps you locked into a daily check-in in order to get your next pebble of "content" (some lame-ass weapon skin or mount armor). We have to push back on this garbage and show devs that we don't want to be seen as revenue streams sitting in front of their gambling machines, pulling the handle over and over again to get our crumbs for the week. We have to stop supporting this crap. By Blizzard essentially making everything about this game even more difficult and slower, they're showing us that they really only care about keeping you on the hook for every minute they can drain from your life. It's not fun, it's not entertaining or challenging. It's trash game design at best. Protip game devs: Make a game people actually want to play, and you won't have to resort to just building the walls higher.    … Expand

D4 beta felt mediocre as you knew there would be a million and one different changes coming to the game that will make basically all the progress you made worthless. 7-19 patch **** a lot of **** up.     CONS -
    1. This is a live service game, meaning it requires a constant internet connection, and you are at the mercy of Blizzard having the servers operational. They control the game and any changes, and you are just a player in their world.
    2. Combat is beyond boring, and loot is as well. Plenty of comments have been made about these two aspects so I'd recommend you read up on them as well for a more detailed analysis.
    3. After you beat the campaign, the real part of the game begins, and this is where it fails miserably. To summarize why it is fails. When you beat the campaign at level 50 or so, there is no reason to level further. Loot and power stays relatively the same from level 50 to 100. The game does introduce "paragon" points to help give the player some semblance of power increase, but the game also increases the power of the monsters you fight, making it a pretty similar power creep between the two. With the latest patch 1.1, the developers felt it was necessary to decrease this power creep for you, so it actually becomes harder and more of a slog to kill and enjoy the leveling process.

    As the game stands now, it is in terrible shape. Avoid until Blizzard figures out how to make this game actually fun from level 50 to 100. The game is enjoyable for the campaign only, but not for the asking price of $69.99    … Expand

    Fundamentally flawed. It's suppose to be a MMO but there's no trading of aspects or legionaries, no party finder, and no one seems to be online in areas outside of the main town. It's a very lonely single player game that requires you to be online. Itemization is completely undersigned. Your high level characters can not farm items for your lower level characters, because each item dropFundamentally flawed.     This IS a total shame !
    Lame, boring, unfinished, and everything is so expensive...
    Diablo you must try to learn...ok but if you try too much you must Erase your character, it's cheaper to restart a New one, not in play Time...

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
