This 1.1 patch overall was a good change and the individuals who are mad about it are individuals who were abusing builds that were obviously going to get nerfed, because why “WOULDN’T” they nerf something that does more than TRILLIONS of damage in a hit.

If you’re playing the game and not relying on builds that were clearly a problem you actually have more of a fighting chance now for just playing the game like a game.

Sigh.. i want to provide an honest review but it’s not like it matters nobody is going to read this and if they do wether you like the game or not the only people you’re going to listen to is your favorite content creators.

If and after you do spend all this time grinding - far more than what's reasonable, especially if you want to try other classes...you're rewarded with a fun end game loop? Nope. More grinding for gear that has perfect rolls and the right combo of affixes. This isn't unlike any other game like this, but it's much slower.

Unique items in the game? Nope. They're pointless and don't drop often or you get the really useless ones a bunch of times.

Re-rolling gear affixes? You may find out you get offered the same one but with a lower roll. Or you may get to choose from the same affix twice (wasted enchant).

It's just an epic waste of time really. For no reward. You get nothing for all the time invested. They didn't finish their end game content. You can stop playing after level 80 or so.

Such a wasted opportunity. They had momentum too. They threw it all away. Well, maybe they can fix it. Check back in a few months or a year.

Played the game, liked it. Devs are now forcing you to participate in their seasons mechanic and try to get you to buy a $20 battle pass for a game that already cost you $70 when you just bought it.

The end game is boring too, I don't understand how the critic reviews made it sound like there was so much to do.

On top of that, the latest patch just nerfed my build to the ground. They don't have an easy way to respect paragon points, it's such a hassle I think I'm just going to give it up at this point. Baldurs Gate is just around the corner, maybe I'll try Diablo again in a few months if ever.

I still paid $70. I had fun for a while, but seeing how it's turning around lately, there's less and less hope. They treat this expensive ARPG worse than any other team would treat their F2P game. We still have a cash shop, we still have paid seasons, we had to pay for the game itself, yet they destroy it.

I paid for a premium ARPG experience, yet they give you the worst treatment possible. The latest season patch, I repeat, a SEASON PATCH, nerfed everything about the classes. They destroyed the already bad sorcerer class, they destroyed important stats, just to make progress slower so you can "enjoy more content". They did NOT add QoL updates, they did NOT add the performance fixes they mentioned, they did NOT fix any problems the whole community talked about, they literally did.. nothing.

They ignored all the simplest of wishes, they added no quality, no reason to play this game anymore, they only made everything that already existed way way worse. As silly as it sounds. And they called it a season patch. The patch that every ARPG releases with TONS of content.

So did they release content? Yes, they added a few unique items with literally no reason to exist, some so buggy that they teleport you into the ground. Anything else? Yes, new affixes with no reason to exist, they're just there to slow your item-chasing down, because new useless affixes mean that you have to search for longer, as the stat-pool is now larger with useless stats.

This game has a nice story, and it's fun to level from 50 to 60. After that, you're done. There is no endgame in this ARPG, as silly as it sounds. And the new season patch made the non-existent endgame even slower, more useless, and just bad.

An ARPG game should last for hundreds of hours. After a week of playing, I'm already tired of Diablo 4. Only good thing about this game is lore around Lilith and Inarius. Unfortunately, what is most important in this genre, here is very poor designed. Itemization and character development are very shallow. They cannot be easily fixed without rebuilding the entire game. Dungeons are copy paste. So what if there are over 100 of them, since there are far fewer unique types. QoL gives the impression that no one has played this title before the premiere. Inventory management, horse riding, etc. are just terrible. I don't believe Blizzard will fix the game because for many years of development has been unable to identify and correctly implement the absolute fundamentals of the genre. I ordered a preorder and I regret it very much, Blizzard taught me an effective lesson that you must pay for your own stupidity.
Level scaling feels just horrible, your gameplay is the same on level 20 and level 70. Game constantly gives a feeling that no one has played and tested endgame. Renown system is so bad that I don't even wat to do it once, when I am thinking of repeating this in seasons I don't want to play this title at all. I am so disappointed. It feels like they have published totally unfinished game with placeholders instead of real systems. 3/10.

The game, due to the changes made in Patch 1.10, is now incredibly slow and a total slog. Leveling was slowed down DRAMATICALLY and the speed at which your character can progress was nerfed into the ground.

You will spend as much time looking at loading screens and waiting on your cooldowns to recharge as you will spend fighting monsters. The game is FILLED with bugs and some of the most game-breaking ones aren't slated to be fixed for another 4-6 months.

Its easy to imagine during this games development, they must have had a list of buzzwords on a whiteboard(MMO, Open world, 100 unique dungeons, etc.) that the team must have felt beholden to, then those buzzwords eventually make it into the final product but only on a technicality, none of it feeling organic, belonging or even fully incorporated.

The game runs out of steam even before you reach max level, which is where a good ARPG should just be getting started.

The recent patch was quite a let down as well. The heavy-handed nerfs are the least of the problems with the game right now actually. The itemization system is boring and unrewarding. Drops are not exciting at all. In fact, drops have zero value until you teleport back to town and sort through countless lines of text to determine if anything is of use. That's like a casino where, instead of getting a payout at slot machine when you hit, you instead get a token that you have to take to the main desk to find out if it's worth anything. It's not exciting.

The game does get a few things right, however. The sound design is amazing. Playing through the campaign was enjoyable. The NPCs are well-acted, especially those you encounter through the main story. However, your character's voice lines are weird and out of place at times.

I expect this game to get better over time with multiple patch cycles and a lot of development that, hopefully, will actually incorporate some of the feedback from the community. In its present state, however, there are much better games to spend your money on. If you're looking to sink some time into some great ARPGs, check out PoE (well worth the time it takes to learn its systems), Grim Dawn, or even Last Epoch, although that one needs quite a bit of time to cook as well.

After logging into the new patch, my enjoyment has entirely fallen off. The quality of life changes we asked for were ignored, the character power buffs we were hoping for to bring up less used builds were ignored, and the player power we had has been stripped. The D4 game designers do not fundamentally understand what makes an ARPG fun. This is because many of the leads on D4 come from World of Warcraft. Instead of making the BEST ARPG they could, they instead wanted to 're-imagine' Diablo from their own point of view so they added an Open World, side quests and boring reptitive dungeon fetch and deliver objectives. While the open world could be awesome, they didn't fill it with enough fun stuff to do, so it just ends up getting in the way of the fun. They tried to mask this lack of content by saying "OMG 120 dungeons!" but there are only a handful of tilesets, layouts are repeated over and over and ALL the activities in these dungeons are reptitious and boring. They said they spent 2 years on perfecting the itemization, but it's absolutely horrible. Tons of affixes that are just 'Number Go Up' type of stuff, except with conditions. Lastly their MMO lineage has them trying to balance the game perfectly, but NERFING everything (instead of buffing underperforming skills/classes). They don't understand that in an ARPG you don't want everything balanced perfectly, a lot of the fun is being able to create some really awesome builds that just crush content.

For all of these reasons (and many more) I don't have much confidence that the Diablo 4 designers are capable of delivering an awesome game. I think the game will improve and after the first expansion it will probably be FAR more enjoyable to play with a lot more stuff to do, but the 'theme park' feeling they've brought to the game will always remain and it will never be truly great. Sad.

If I were Microsoft, I'd start work on Diablo 5 now with an entirely new team, one that truly understands what makes an ARPG great.

The last patch finished off Helltide. The balance of the characters is missing both in pvp and for killing the echo of lilith. Server lags and the number of bugs are endless. Blizzard, maybe you need more white males on the development team, otherwise your project is similar to that submarine case.

I still don’t understand why it was impossible to make a normal system for calculating the chance and strength of critical damage, elemental resistance, etc. It’s probably easier to hide from the players that your damage calculation is very crooked with all the conditions.

Then they released the pre-season patch and oh boy did they not only ruin they game they massacred the game, whatever was left of it they just took it and destroyed it. At least they had the audacity to kill OW2 before it was "released" still think think they scammed a few people with that but oh boy did they take our 100$ and run away with it for Diablo 4.

Despite having a lot of time to play I got a druid to 96, rogue to 82 and a necro to 85 and I can't even get myself to log in to at least push to 100, I am completely burnt out on the game. And whenever I think about the game it makes me mad, I spent all that time leveling those toons for nothing, it wasn't even fun, there was a tiny bit of enjoyment early on because new game energy but after that it was just brute force because I had nothing better to do. But I might as well have stared at paint dry while listening to music and would've enjoyed my time more.

Game is only a leveling simulator, but instead of being a "fun" leveling simulator they force you to go into nightmare dungeons, just regular dungeons with annoying and horrible affixes that makes you not wanna run another one when you finish one but to keep on leveling you need to run those hundreds of time to get to 100, and just when you think there might be alternative content there isn't. You got world bosses for loot pinata, helltides for chore to get Forgotten souls and then there's tree of whispers which is dead content can't recommend doing it, it's unrewarding. So basically the only thing there is to do is nightmare dungeons.

Then the other part where you're not really farming for anything, you might find an item with 3 more vulnerable damage, or 6 more crit damage, but ultimately it is just similar system to Diablo 3 +5 mainstat from paragon, but it's +5 stat from gear. Your character becomes 90% complete at level 75, and then the rest is like trying to hunt for a perfectly rolled item which is completely pointless and a waste of time.

Then they failed miserable at trying to put in "chase" uniques, there were 6 at launch, and 1 added in latest patch. Worst part is you can't grind for them, as they would take about 12 hours a day for 2000 years to find, not even a meme but literally thousands of years on average for just one of them. And we currently don't have access to the well of immortality to farm for those uniques.

So I think this game at best is like a 1.5/10, because I know Blizzard can always stoop lower. But this game is basically as bad as it gets. Definitely regret every dollar I spent on it, did not get my moneys worth.

At launch I would have given this game an 8 or even 9, but since launch they have done nothing but make the game worse. I've never seen a company purposely kill their own game before, but that is exactly what they have done. They constantly take anything that is even remotely fun in the game and nerf it out.

    A Nightmare for Long-term Players: Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.0

It's a painful marvel how swiftly a game that was once a challenging, engaging, and gratifying experience can morph into a source of frustration. Diablo 4, a game I had devoted weeks of my life to, has morphed from a top-tier action role-playing game into a shattered shadow of its former self following the incomprehensible Patch 1.1.0.

Before the patch, Diablo 4 was an unmatched masterpiece. It demanded patience, skill, and a sharp mind to achieve the perfect balance of offensive power, defense, and abilities. It was a glorious challenge worth mastering. But then came Patch 1.1.0, and suddenly nothing was the same.

The alterations to the game mechanics were entirely disproportionate. The character progression, which previously represented a clear and tangible reward for invested time and efforts, was shattered and pieced back together, losing the essence of what made the game what it was. The love for detail that went into the min-maxing mechanic was brutally distorted. It felt as if my hard-earned gear disappeared into smoke overnight.

Even worse, the equipment stats have gone completely out of balance. My painstakingly collected gear, which once made the difference between victory and defeat, was devalued as if my efforts meant nothing. Even the new damage calculation mechanism appears to be utterly arbitrary, making the gameplay frustrating and unsatisfactory.

The changes go far beyond pure number games. They also touch the fundamental elements of gameplay. It's as if the developers decided to reinvent the wheel rather than building upon the strong foundations that Diablo 4 already had. The new system feels unbalanced, illogical, and unfinished, as if we, the players, are now serving as beta testers for an unfinished game.

The most frustrating part of all this is Blizzard's apparent indifference to the community. They have preferred to make dramatic changes without gaining a clear consensus from the players. It's as if they have forgotten that we, the players, are the ones who pour countless hours into their world. Our opinion should count, especially when such drastic changes are in question.

In the end, Patch 1.1.0 for Diablo 4 doesn't feel like an improvement but like a completely new vision that doesn't match the original game we loved. With the massive changes and the lack of communication from the developers, I feel alienated and betrayed. It's as if I'm no longer part of the Diablo community but a spectator forced to watch the game I once loved heading in a direction I cannot support.

I'm disappointed, Blizzard. What you've done with Diablo 4 is nothing less than a betrayal to your most loyal players. The fact that we are the ones who suffer the most is a slap in the face that we didn't deserve.

Diablo 4 was once a phenomenal game, but post-Patch 1.1.0, it's nothing more than a sad example of how to ruin a great game. I can't recommend it under these circumstances, sadly. It hurts me to write this, but I can only hope that Blizzard learns to respect its players and appreciate their passion and commitment.

Yea, but what should i say... The Last Patch just killed the Game for me. High EXP Cuts, Nerfs (Offensive and defensive) around the Board and just giving a sht on the Community, that paid 70$ Minimum each. In Fact almost all my Builds are dealing like 30-50% LESS damage and dying faster. And they nerfed a important stat in the game "Player have #% Increased fun while playing Diablo4" by almost 100%. Giving us items for BUGGED Resistances (!!!) and will be fixed in Season 2 (?!). Are you fcking kidding me? Uber Uniques that are so rare, that no one will ever see one. Trading is a Joke. Crafting is bad. Helltides just got WAAAY longer. No Gear Upgrades after level 70 (just small ones). Stashes are way to small (playing several builds and 2-3 Classes and you are fcked). No Loot filter at all. The Hardest Boss in the game doesnt have specific Drops, lmfao.
I really had so much hope. But boy, here i am.. Bashing Blizzard on Metacritic. Blizzard is still so out of touch with the Community. Learned my final lesson now and will move on. I am using my Random Teleport to go to Baldurs Gate 3 or any other Game.

Diablo 4 - A Journey of Potential Dimmed by Missed Opportunities

In the realm of action RPGs, the Diablo franchise has always held a legendary status. Thus, the arrival of Diablo 4 brought with it an air of anticipation, a hope that this installment would maintain the engaging and exciting standards set by its predecessors. Regrettably, however, while there are a few commendable aspects, the game largely feels like a shadow of what it could have been.

Firstly, Diablo 4 does an admirable job with its story, even though it's quite brief. The narrative weaves a gripping tale of demonic intrigue that serves as a compelling backdrop for your quest. The graphics, too, are worthy of mention, being both pleasing to the eye and comfortably accessible to a wide range of system specs.

However, the merits of the game are sorely outmatched by its drawbacks. The most glaring issue lies with the absence of a true endgame. After reaching level 100, there's little to keep players invested, with a noticeable lack of incentivizing progression factors.

The gameplay, while initially captivating, begins to feel monotonous as you proceed, suffering from a high degree of repetition. Furthermore, the lack of build diversity is a major disappointment. The constraints placed on the development of paragon gems further this problem, stifling creativity and variety in character development.

The absence of a player search feature for co-op experiences such as dungeons or world bosses hampers the social aspect of the game, which was a pivotal part of past iterations. Moreover, the low cap on stones, combined with the restrictive inventory space, results in frequent, frustrating interruptions to gameplay as you manage your inventory.

The game's perspective, too, leaves much to be desired. The zoomed-in view restricts vision compared to previous titles, making the gameplay feel uncomfortably claustrophobic at times. Add to this a host of bugs - with lagging and troublesome mount movement chief among them - and it's clear that Diablo 4 could use substantial improvements.

As for the seasonal approach that Blizzard has taken with new features, it discourages play outside of these periods, effectively alienating those who aren't interested in seasonal gameplay. The notorious 1.1 patch only exacerbates these issues, delivering arguably one of the worst update experiences in gaming history with across-the-board nerfs and decisions that confound logic.

In conclusion, Diablo 4 seems to have stumbled significantly in its quest to continue the legacy of its forebears. While its engaging storyline and impressive graphics provide a glimmer of what might have been, the numerous issues and missed opportunities present a significant hurdle that may prove too high for even the most dedicated fans to overcome. The hope now lies with Blizzard to address these problems and help Diablo 4 achieve its potential.

Patch 1.1 completely ruined my excitement for Season 1. Not going to return until changes are made.

I genuinely regret buying this game. Maybe, long term, the game will be good, and the feel of the game and artwork is very polished, but the balance and bugs of the game are indicative that this game was not ready for release. Blizzard's policy of releasing games when they're ready is dead.

Nothing to do in the endgame. It is beyond boring after playing it for a while.

Okay foundation for a game in beta, lacks endgame activities and any form of qol.

Unfortunately the game appeared to be promising but is very lacking at the moment. They should have delayed the game.

Why do they always take the easy road. Just NERF everything, all the builds instead of, IDK doing the math and making the right adjustments. You would think they would like to make their stockholders happy?? If the player base is not here than the $$$$ is not here. No $$$ incoming then no one gets paid.

Patch 1.1 has dispelled any doubts about which direction bli$$ard is heading with its game-service. Drastic slowdown of gameplay that completely took away the joy of the game, developers who are deaf to the voices of the community. It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
