    40+ Diablo series fan here.
D4 became boring much much faster than any of the other Diablo games. There is nothing to do after a certain lvl. The game really sucks, which is also really sad to see.

It would be nice if you could zoom out a little further, but I guess that would take away from seeing the details on your $25 armor/skin.

I finished the story and that was more than enough for me, even that was a grind. I have no desire to continue playing this game. I don't see the point, as I can't trade with other players, the NPC's have nothing real to say. There is no real excitement in grinding dungeons for drops when 99% of drops are only slight upgrades of the gear you already have. The world just seems so empty and pointless. The world feels more like a medieval dystopian socialist Russia, than a world facing an apocalypse.

Oh, if that wasn't enough every once and awhile Blizzard comes along and redesigns how your character plays with no warning, ruining the viability of your build. Great strategy on how to keep players invested. There is a good game in here somewhere... it just seems Blizzard does everything in it's power to make it not available.

boring and empty game when you finish the build there is nothing to do. there are too few skills, there are more in diablo 3. diablo 3 is definitely more fun than diablo 4. each skill costs too much resources the dungeons are empty, boring and always the same. It's all wrong, believe me I had more fun on farmville.

    Pretty **** game imo.
The quests, environments, combat, and the playstyle is so repetitive. The repetitiveness could have been Ok if there was any bigger goal to strive for, but I unfortunately don’t get that feeling like I had with the prequels and other similar games.

Gotta put 0/0 since I gave the game so much time that I wont get back. FeelsBadMan.

Campaign is all right. Nothing special, but pretty good.
Graphics are good, performance is excellent. Audio design is good. Music is completely forgettable.
Gameplay "feel" is great. It's an excellent foundation to build an ARPG on. Shame they didn't. Unimpactful itemization, no feeling of progress, no variety, constant backtracking, lack of mob density, empty spaces in dungeons.

    1. Unimmersive
Diablo IV's UI clutter is the antithesis of immersion. 1. Unimmersive
Diablo IV's UI clutter is the antithesis of immersion. The minimap cannot be hidden, the quest log cannot be hidden, on-screen key bindings cannot be hidden, and objective markers cannot be disabled. Additionally, small windows are consistently popping up due to quests & challenges being completed or nearby events occurring. This gives the game a feeling of a cross between a free MMORPG and an arcade game, which is terrible for immersion How Diablo IV, the latest entry in the series, is the least immersive game in the series, is baffling.

    2. Lazily Designed
Quest design is lazy, due to its reliance on objective markers. NPCs will give the player a task and not explain where the task should be completed, yet somehow the player character knows precisely where to go, due to objective markers. Diablo IV provides the same experience as any other mainstream game: Chase objective markers around the world until the credits roll.

    3. Socially-restricted
Diablo has always been a social/multiplayer-focused series, yet each new game drastically reduces the multiplayer experience. Unique items cannot be traded, legendary items cannot be traded, enchanted items cannot be traded, upgraded equipment cannot be traded, crafting materials cannot be traded, aspects cannot be traded, caches cannot be traded, red dust cannot be traded, obols cannot be traded, invokers cannot be traded, malignant hearts cannot be traded, etc. Trading has been so overly-restricted it may as well not be in the game at all. Playing the economy is one of my favorite aspects of Diablo games; unfortunately, Blizzard has ruined trading, one of the only reasons to interact with other players.

    3. Lazy Endgame:
Nightmare dungeons are supposed to provide variety for endgame, but the dungeon aspects are just reskinned copies of one another:
    a. Enemies explode upon death = Ground affect you avoid or die
    b. Orb chases the player then lands on the ground dealing AoE pulse damage = Ground effect you avoid or die
    c. Stone structure follows the player dealing AoE pulse damage = Ground effect you avoid or die
    d. Floating thing follows player, occasionally spawning a bubble you must be inside or you die after a few seconds = Ground effect you must be in or you die

This is obnoxiously lazy and repetitive.

    Recap:
To summarize, Diablo IV is a non-immersive, socially-restricted, lazily designed game. This is all a shame, as the graphics and audio are fantastic.

Dead game. Not fun because of lack of content, terrible itemization, poor class design, item drop rate, stash management. Been playing Necro for 80 levels and haven’t seen the unique required for the build I’m running. It has worse quality of life than previous Diablo games. The mount is terrible and buggy. I could go on and on.

However, Diablo's strong suit has always been the end game content, the power fantasy that you grind your character for which the game fails at so hard.

End game lacks content, not enough number of unique items, not that they help with meta builds either. You have to switch your build to a useless one to get benefit from them.
    Set items non-existent.

They even slowed down the progress in Season 1 and didn't make necessary changes to balance/buff the weak classes such as Sorceress. They even nerfed Sorcerss in Season 1....

Most of the builds are useless if you do not choose the meta.
Server problems; towns and some outdoor areas gets really laggy sometimes.

Neverending grinding with not worthy at all rewards.
Almost every mob has an annoying exploding mechanic and cc without diminishing returns...
It seems some incompetent/lazy idiots who have no idea about how to make a Diablo game, at Blizzard thought it would be fun and challenge...

You die a lot in nightmare dungeons, especially after level 40...
In short, end game content just does not worth your time, doesn't reward you enough to make the grinding feasible.
I believe the Season 2 will be even more boring.

Blizzard is not the same company we loved as in our childhood years, they've ruined wow, warcraft 3 reforged, overwatch and now diablo.

Great job guys, you've become a true master at hiring retards as developers to ruin your most praised IPs, keep going...

So if nothing is new, why a 6? Because despite the lack of innovation, the gameplay does still feel really good (Blizzard specialty) throughout the campaign and the single player experience is quite good. It carries the game, really. The story, the characters, the voice acting, the soundtrack, the world itself, all of these were very well done. I really want to highlight the voice acting though. There is dialogue EVERYWHERE in the game, from main quest to side quest to hundreds of little dialogue blurbs that add to the story and each and every time the voice acting is spectacular.

People rating this game a 0 because they're mad about whatever in this game are doing the folks who delivered the single player aspect of the game a great disservice. If you want to play a good campaign in a rich, immersive world, this game is worth it on sale. But as an ARPG, it does fall short, as the 'end game' is shallow beyond belief and also likely to never get better. Don't expect that from this game.

Unfortunately, after completing the main campaign, the endgame might not offer the pull to drive players to want to continue onwards to hit level 90 or 100.

Oh how the once great company that was Blizzard entertainment has fallen, only to be replace by Bli$$ard Craptainment, only here to empty your wallet.

This game could be good. It could be, if it had competent developers that knew anything about how to make an ARPG, let alone even played one. It would also need a competent management team that were interested in anything but egregious monetization practices and fleecing the customer out of every nickle and dime that they bring home with overpriced cosmetics that cost more than some far superior full feature games. It would also need to be made by a company that was worth a plugged nickle and had some standards of decency and moral fiber.

The core game loop is there, and it is somewhat fun, if not repetitive. Basic quality of life features that should be present from launch are absent (but hey, the microtransaction store works, and got fixed before anything else did...) the lack of understanding how their own game works, and a seemingly unable to fix something without breaking something else. Not to mention nerfing the living **** out of several classes after people had spent a serious time commitment to get the top first world 100's, then wrecking that commitment. So on and so forth. There is not enough storage, and the morons developing the game can't add more, supposedly because the game loads in all of the stash tabs of all the people around you. I think this is a bald face lie, as why would you make this design decision as a developer? It isn't logical, it severs no purpose, and is just idiotic. I don't know why they won't add more, but it is bad. I don't think they are capable of figuring out their own program, because they are incompetent and have a lackadaisical knowledge of there own game. This is what happens when you hire based off of qualities to fill a certain quota for a certain type of people, and don't hire passions and talent. It shows in this game, it is designed to waste your time, and it shows. Junkyard conflagration bad.

Why no gem storage separate of your other storage? Why such a low limit on crafting stuff at launch? Why no loot filter? Why do resistances not work? Why are Overpower, Crit and Vulnerability so powerful, and the other stats are just kinda junk? Why is there no basic stats on all gear, like in D3 (like life and Will/Dex/Str? These are basic questions that should have been figured out before launch, not now. Why so many worthless stats? Why so many stats? Over 75% of them could be eliminated and nobody would notices.

The campaign is OK, story is OK, but man, that little turd Neyrelle kinda ruins the whole thing. End game is bad. Like do the same thing over and over and over and over, and once you get past a certain point, it feels like you don't really get any upgrades, and get random **** that doesn't really do anything but make you say WTF? Killing mobs at your level or higher, only to have them drop a **** legendary that is 20 or 30 levels lower. Getting an outstanding build defining unique or legendary, only to have it be bad, because it is 30 levels lower and has garbage stats. And rerolling? You can afford to do it once.. Don't try and trade it, else you'll get banned, as you have no way of knowing if the dude you are trading with has dirty exploited gold or not

Long and short of it is Overpriced garbage , Bad game, designed by incompetent dev clowns, Bozo and crew could've done better. Bad company that supports bad practices, and that leads to a **** product that you'd be better off not purchasing, saving your time and money for some else that respects your time and money, and this **** product isn't it.

A Disastrous Disappointment: Diablo 4 Fails Gamers on Every Level

A Disastrous Disappointment: Diablo 4 Fails Gamers on Every Level

I recently made the grave mistake of shelling out a jaw-dropping $130 for Diablo 4, expecting a gaming experience that would be worth its weight in gold. What I got instead was an absolute disaster that left me questioning the sanity of the developers and the sanity of anyone who actually enjoys this travesty.

Let's start with the most glaring issue: the lack of WASD support. In an era where gaming has evolved to cater to various player preferences and abilities, Diablo 4 has decided to regress back to the Stone Age. Who on Earth thought that denying players the basic freedom of using WASD controls was a good idea? Apparently, the developers are either blissfully unaware of the gaming landscape or simply sadistic, reveling in the suffering of players with arthritis, carpal tunnel, or any other disability that makes traditional controls difficult.

But oh, don't worry, because apparently having control options isn't supposed to translate to good gameplay. No, according to the masterminds behind Diablo 4, we're all just supposed to adapt to their archaic control scheme and be grateful for the privilege of enduring their nonsensical design choices. Because who needs player accessibility and comfort when you can frustrate your audience to the point of tears?

And let's not even get started on the price tag. $130 for a game that's stuck in the past, not even bothering to acknowledge the basic standards of user-friendly controls? It's as if the developers are actively trying to rob players blind while simultaneously flipping them the middle finger. Congratulations, Blizzard, you've managed to outdo yourselves in creating a product that redefines the meaning of buyer's remorse.

In conclusion, Diablo 4 is a catastrophic failure on every conceivable level. Its lack of WASD support is a slap in the face to gamers with disabilities, and the notion that control options are somehow irrelevant to good gameplay is mind-bogglingly absurd. Save your hard-earned money and precious time for a game that actually respects its players and embraces modern gaming conventions. Diablo 4 is a prime example of how not to make a game, and I can only hope that the developers come to their senses before inflicting more misery upon unsuspecting players.

Played it for twenty hours. It is just really boring. Story seems cool, but I can't bear to do another click. Why don't they implement WASD movements. Why the only thing that seems optimized is the skin shop? Why can't we zoom out more. Why fun seems to be second to profit?

I’m baffled by this game. I’ve got about 150 hrs of playtime. It was a blast playing through the campaign. Then endgame grinding started around level 50, and really slowed down around 70. I started to get bored around level 85 since everything was so slow to level up. After about 3 weeks, they release a patch that boosts experience for nightmare dungeons and other endgame activities. I can actually see my xp bar move now. They buff and tweak a bunch of things. So far so good.

Fast forward to day before S1. Global xp nerf. Global defense nerf. Global damage nerf. What?! Prior to this patch, my level 100 rogue was clearing Tier 50-55 nightmare dungeons easily. I could push to 60, but that was sketchy and I died a lot. Post patch I try the lowest tier NM I have on hand: 51. I die 4x and am kicked out of the dungeon within 3 minutes. Wow. I crafted and tried a 45 next. Died twice and barely made it through. I don’t get it. I’m not pushing tier 100 and crushing it easily. I haven’t even killed Uber Lilith yet. Sure, I play 20-25 hrs a week, but I’m by no means elite. I only have a single 100 character. The game became objectively less fun. For what?

I speculate that the team that worked on Season 1 realized their content wasn’t well balanced and wouldn’t keep players engaged for 3 months, and instead of addressing the issues in the season, they simply slowed down the game and made it harder. Meh.

There is a lot wrong with the game, from mechanics to itemization the list is extensive. In summary, the game was a failure.

The game quickly becomes boring, the story is not very interesting to tell the truth, nothing invites me to stay. I leveled a character to level 70, then uninstalled the game and won't go back.

What can we learn from what is happening now?

About the reviews: The "journalists" are not journalists, they are just sales influencers who give good ratings and highlight only the good sides of the product because it is necessary to sell and because they have an advantage to withdraw from it. We have been aware of this for a long time, but now those who doubted it should no longer.

About studios, publishers, licenses: Marketing hold the reins of the horse, and the time of games made by a team that is committed to doing well and making outstanding games is over. Perhaps salvation will come from independent studios...until they are bought out. Some publishers have a reputation among gamers for being like a fake philosopher's stone that turns everything it touches into crap, putting pressure on the studios, pushing them to make choices and decisions that damage the game. and at the studio.

Diablo 4 is just a product meant to make the most money and was not designed for your intertainment. The devs don't really know what to do to pass off this fake diablo as authentic and accumulate blunders. There is nothing more to expect from Blizzard in the future I think. Keep your money or give it to a studio that deserves it.

    4. Frequent performance issues. Lag spikes, unresponsiveness, stuck on walls, etc.

    5. Player "choice" means viable builds must stack vulnerable and crit strike damage.

    6. After the nerfs the only viable builds focus on armor and dmg mitigation. Hope you prefer beating against trees with wooden clubs because otherwise you'll die instantly.

    7. Min/max a character level 90 with 10.5k attack power and 8.5k armor BASE and still get obliterated in tier 55 nightmare dungeons - the literal only endgame content which goes to tier 100. Guess I need more armor on my average ilvl 802 gear.

    8. Have a piece of gear that's almost good? Have fun spending over 30M gold trying to roll for what you need. Oh, you can farm about 6M per hour.

    9. Build variety is an actual joke. You get 2 options, maybe, if you want to push "endgame" content.

    10. Speaking of build variety, ask why you never see any barbarians running around. There isn't even class variety. Rogue, Druid. Necro. Don't like those, don't play.

    11. Running simulator. Die in a dungeon and the devs thought it would be tight to spawn you 4 miles from where you died. You will die. You will run. Hope that's worth your money.

This game is absolute garbage. The first playthrough of the story is somewhat cool except its the same as every Diablo game. Find "Deckard Cain" -> Chase Big Bad -> One step behind, kill littler bad -> Confront big bad -> Game over. This game is such a cataclysmic disappointment that I'm swearing off Blizzard games. They can't make good games and they mismanage everything into the ground. Do not buy. There are myriad other games that won't leave you screaming at your monitor.

In general, the game is very poor, the story is not bad, but the endgame is one of the worst things I've seen in my more than 30 years of playing video games. Many things can be said, but it can be summed up by the fact that it is an extremely boring game, with mechanics designed by children. It seems like a game from 15 years ago, with no content and no motivation to keep playing.

And what on earth have you done with the Sorcerer, while other classes breeze through the instances? Is it truly that difficult to achieve balance? Wouldn't it be possible to increase the damage of an attack by just 1% to see where things lead? The Season Stones are utterly ridiculous, and is that really all? Why must players level up an entirely new character when only 1-3 stones are required? Seriously, Blizzard? This deserves a solid 6! And then these extremely rare uniques, where the drop chance is at 0.00000000001? The season lasts for 3 months – how much time are you giving the players when it would take over 10 years to get something with that drop chance? Expand

Not good but not terrible…it definitely doesn’t live up to the Diablo name. The combat is fine but just isn’t very fun to play. I got 2 characters past level 50 and just have no interest in continuing despite playing countless hours of Diablo 1,2 and 3.

Unfortunately, this is garbage. This is a game without a soul, there is absolutely nothing to do in it. You just click and click and click on the target. and that's It! This was the last Blizzard game I paid for. I rocked 2 characters up to level 100 just because I paid 90 euros for the game. Don't waste your time, better buy Baldur's Gate 3

2.Wt making it worse is that Blizzard is adjusting the xp secretly without noticing the player, which increasing the density of the mobs doesn't mean that we can gain more xp.
Blizzard, u are liteally backstabbing us. Every promise that you make, has never been fulfilled.
What's makes me more disappointed is that you are trying to exploit and abuse the mechanism to retain the total playing hours. Have you ever heard of sunk cost fallacy? Players will just left the game when they found there's no any gaming experience in it. Wt makes a strong positive correlation with the total playing hours is MOTIVATION AND GAMING EXPERIENCE BUT NOT THE MECHANISMS. As a fan of this franchise for ~25 years, I am quite saddened and dismayed by this recent installment for Diablo 4.

    This game is terrible.

While it does have some interesting elements, the music scoring is incredible and the graphics are nothing short of amazing... It has many, many, MANY, downfalls.

It was fun and exciting for the campaign, but after that, you level for a bit and progress somewhat when you can explore Nightmare Dungeons, or do Hell Tides, or just farm content. However, you quickly hit a wall in which you cannot progress. This was further amplified by the constant nerfs the developers implemented in various parts of the game.

The game, now, is no longer something you are able to play and enjoy to reach player power increases. It is, unfortunately, made even worse by the considerable stat affixes that are amazing but never roll on your gear. This frustration is compounded by the introduction of the challenge of farming enough gold to, enable what should be a switch in character builds or specializations only limited by the random drops in the game, and not, be for paying for every system required for the switch. Thus, pulling you deeper into a downward spiral of a time sink, severly limiting play and forward momentum. This will only be exacerbated more during the seasons, when you have a time crunch and also a reset factor. Resent nerfs have made it even worse, clearly designed around the, now clearly apparent philosophy of ABK that: "time spent = content."

I have already wasted my 120 dollars on this piece of garbage software that is now lining my recycle bin on my desktop. This is the first game in the franchise that I have ever uninstalled and stopped playing due to dissatisfaction with, not only the current version of the game, but also the deep flaws that exist in the character designs and key game mechanics/systems.

Hold on to your precious dollars. There hundreds of better titles out there. Wait for the expansion and re-evaluate, in my opinion.

I will not be buying another Activision, Blizzard, King title or anything related to this horrible company that clearly has lost touch with their player base and does not respect their player bases time.

All bugs, glitches and laggy connections about 70% of the time, they found a new way to create repetitive boredom. It's pretty much the same game as diablo 3, with a bit of flash, and much harder. It is cool that the talent/ability system is very customizable, but its very difficult to find a combination of abilities that work well. Also, the enemies have infinite long stuns and fears. Their cool downs are way quicker than the players, and it doesn't seem that there is any diminishing returns for the player. The enemy is immune to stuns for a while pretty much after the first stun. It's just not fun to repeatedly be stunned until your dead, then have to walk all the way from the beginning of a dungeon every time you die. It's just annoying and has no purpose to the game. It's also very difficult to get gear good enough to beat any dungeons of any kind. As you slowly get gear that is better (you rarely get better gear after a certain point) the enemies get harder every time you level, so they usually stay ahead of you. It makes jumping to the next tier incredibly annoying and difficult. The PvP is just terrible, and they make you have to participate to finish the season missions. In short, the game is just way too hard for a game this repetitive and boring. There's no feeling of accomplishment. The company needs to stop focusing on new ways to charge their customers and focus on improving the game content.
08/20/23 - I took a week or 2 break from the game to try to let them at the very least fix some of the bugs. Not only on my first event that I attempted did it bug out and I was unable to get the points for completing it, but it was also immediately and continuously still laggy to the point of effecting being able to play. Every time I hit a lag spike, when it fixes itself, I am swarmed and have to use every cooldown just to try to survive. I do thank them though. This game was so disappointing, I voluntarily decided that doing yard work was more fun and rewarding then this game. I now know that they have gotten so obsessed with nickel and dimming every chance they can, and that their games are just so repetitive and boring with the absence of any feeling of accomplishment, it's not worth the money or time you put into it. I actually have gotten a lot of projects around the house I was too lazy to do. My house looks great. I feel great. And I'll never have to throw $100 away on a game that feels like work anyway. So thank you again. This is obviously just my opinion, but I'd listen to me. Take care all.

The dev team doesn't respect us as players, they don't play their game... go watch the play with dev vid for proof.
NM dungeons are all very generic and boring with generic boring bosses at the end.
They don't use the story bosses.
They nerfed the weakest character (sorc) then nerfed cooldown for everyone.
Their logic for it is, "we want to tear them down, so we can bring them all up together" they could just, I dunno... buff the weaker skills? Not nerf cooldown? Listen to the players?
Not to mention the lack of stash tab space.
$20-30 cosmetics on top of the $70-100 game...
There is no actual community in game, no global chat, no area chat... social aspects of this game don't exist.
    No gem tab
Grinding Gear Games is puts out fixes and changes same and next day, but one of the largest developers in the world? That'll take 2 seasons to add something that just QoL.
Not to mention of overload on affixes that do the same thing, to extend the grind.

D4, is hands down the worst available ARPG. Go play POE, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn and D2, just to name a few.

Blizzard is living off it's past reputation and that blizzard is long gone and will never return. It took me a long time to accept that... because I loved WOW, D1, D2, WC1-3, SC1 and 2. Even OW1 was good... they went the way of EA.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
