    The game is awesome, one of the best, but sadly ruined by pay2win mechanics. FFS, I would pay $20/month for a normal server that is not pay2win. It took me until level 60 paragon 18 just to find one four-star. I find 5 on a bad day and 10 one-star gems on a good day. That's running rifts 18 hours per day with an average clear time of 4 minutes or so.

In the time between the announcement and the release of the game Blizzard repeatedly and consistently lied when they claimed that the game would not be pay-to-win and that they were prioritising making a good game over making a profitable game. Neither of those statements are true.
    Various news outlets have paraded around the number that it would take US$110,000.00 to max out a character. This is not true. The nature of this game and the high levels of random chance means that it could take significantly more money than even that. The free-to-play experience is deeply unfun as well. Blizzard own the patent to a matchmaking algorithm that intentionally matches free-to-play players with players who have spent money in an attempt to convince people to spend money on increasing their power. This is one of the plethora of ways that Diablo Immortal will attempt to milk money out of its players. Other methods include requiring players to open the pay-to-win shop in order to claim free rewards, a battle pass with multiple paid tiers, and forcing players to repeatedly dismiss prompts that clutter the screen requesting $0.99 fo +800% VALUE on some pack of currencies and cosmetics. Speaking of currencies, there are too many to list. This is an intentional tactic to confuse players and separate fools from their money.
    In response to criticism that the game was pay-to-win, Blizzard implemented a mechanic where once every 1.5 weeks a player can craft a random gem (the primary way that characters gain strength) for free. Assuming that a free-to-play player takes advantage of this feature it will still take approximately 54 years to gain a 5* gem.
    This game takes pay-to-win to a whole new level but the same amount of time and care was not put into the gameplay experience. Assets are reused from Diablo 3, enemies are balanced with a specific amount of money-spending in mind so they are unreasonably difficult for free-to-play players but also stupefyingly easy for players who pay.

    There are layers upon layers of pay to win mechanism in this game. Without paying hundreds of dollars, dont expect to progress. The in game purchases to upgrade is per character, not per account. Stay away from this game.

The game supports both mouseclicking and WASD movement, so thats nice. As for skills and gameplay it's very close to Diablo 3 in it's aesthetics.

    As for the big controversy surrounding this game, it's hard to ignore it, but personally I have reached paragon 20+ with about $20 spent. I stopped spending sometime around level 30 and on the higher levels I have so far not been interested in buying anything as the game has more content than I can finish in a day either way. Im sure in the long run, if I keep playing that I might spend a few more dollars, but time will tell.

    So far I've spent less on this than I did on Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 Resurrected, so I'm not worried the slighest. Predatory buisness practices will always be an issue when there exists vulnerable gamers out there that might not have the emotional discipline to prevent impulse buying. Either way that's a topic for politicians to prevent shady practices and not a metacritic review.    … Expand

    just feels like a d3 expansion to me ported to mobile. i wasn't really a d3 fan so it's not my thing anyway monetization aside. obviously all the manipulative monetization tactics are pathetic. blizzard has officially lost me as a fan. i'm done. this is why all the OG devs bounced and went to make their own studios.

    I have over 4k hours in D2, 2k hours in D3 (across multiple platforms). This cash grab farce is a disgrace to everything that we grew up with in the franchise, everything we grew to love blizzard for over 20+ years. They sink lower, and lower, and this is the absolute bottom of the barrel. Congrats Diablo team for really putting heart and soul into this one!

    The gameplay is fun, however the experience is ruined by excessive predatory micro-transactions combined with game mechanics designed to aggressively push you towards those micro-transactions. This is another example of why modern video game business models need strict government regulation, because game developers just can't help themselves anymore.

    The outrageous part of the game is the monetization. This game doesn't even try to hide the fact that is only exists to exploit people with too much money and a predispositioned to addictive behaviour. The whole item and power system is built around spending money for every single rift you play. To completely max out a character, you have to pay an average of 110.000$. Of course, there also is a PvP component where you can show off how much money you paid to crush all those weaklings who have smaller wallets. Disgusting!    … Expand

    Remember all those garbage MMO's that tried to copy WoW. This is a crappy Lost Ark clone. Not sure why they didn't just make a diablo game. I'm not even touching on the Cash Shop, just the fundamental gameplay is clunky. Almost like gameplay second to cash shop.. there i got it out of my system.

    It's sad to see a game developer make, what for all intent and purposes, appears to be a well thought out game and gameplay, even though the story is a bit dated. but to then play it and realize it gets completely destroyed by micro transactions, they start pulling on your wallet at lvl 30 - its just immoral, i worry for the upcomming diablo IV.

    For me Blizzard started going downhill with the release of Starcraft 2. The main game and campaign were great but they completely ruined the custom map scene which is a huge reason why warcraft 3 was relevant for so long.

    With the release of diablo immortal they are no longer going downhill. They already freaking cratered through the ground. How can you say this is a "fully fledged diablo experience" and you can't buy items with real money? Diablo is about random dungeons where you actually get to explore a little, not have the same exact map layouts with magical footsteps telling you exactly where to go. Diablo is about farming what you want, when you want, for as long as you want, with whoever you want, even solo. With the trash game you just made you force people to do specific tasks every day in order to progress to where it feels like a job, you are forced to party and be in the same open world as others, and if you farm too much the drops and xp get nerfed so hard it becomes almost pointless to continue.

    And you can 100% buy items. Just look at the difference in rewards on the paid battle pass vs the free one, the difference between a 10 legendary crest run vs a no crest run, and all the crap you can buy on the marketplace. You guys used to be about the players and making quality games. You had the chance to make a truly great mobile game and completely screwed it up. Nobody said mobile games have to be "free to play" with all these predatory **** microtransactions that take all the fun out of the game. You could have charged $50, added some cosmetics and quality of life microtransactions, and had a pretty damn good mobile game that most diablo fans would buy. Good job flushing it down the toilet. Mobile gaming is a sh*t show because of pay to win, we don’t want it. We refuse to play it. It is not supported by real gamers. Do better.

    After 6 legendary or Set drops a day, your drop rate severely decreases for future drops.
    Elder Rifts rewards drop rate severely decreases after a FEW tries each day, will likely not see gems higher than 3 stars likely even if you use Eternal Legendary Crest Or Regular Legendary Crests.
    There are 2 TYPES of LEGENDARY CREST. Eternal Legendary Crest that you BUY which allows LG to be sold in the market and Legendary Crests, that you get from bundles, Rewards, etc... which makes all your LG Bound to your Character. Both are almost the same with the exception of the LC being slightly different color and text Descriptions.
    After a group bonus of 6 normal/tradeable gems a day, your drop rate severely decreases.
    Sidequests STOP giving rewards after 5 per day.
    You cannot get more than 120 Fading Embers per week. The ones you use to buy runes, to make Legendary Gems.
    You can only Craft Random Legendary Gems about 3 to 4 per month if you try hard enough, and your chance of crafting a 5 out 5 LG is 1 out of 23. This means you MAY craft a 5 out 5 LG once every 7 months if you do nothing in life then play this cursed game every day, for a regular player it may take YEARS to get a 5 out of 5 legendary gem.
    There is a limit on how much EXP per week, the exp rate severely decreases for the rest of the week after a certain point.
    To further improve your gear rank, you MUST reach the required paragon level.
    Items rarity severely drops at the gambling station for gear after 20 buyouts every day.
    The paragon level is capped per server, which goes up by 2 every day, if you go further, your exp Is severely lowered and it goes lower the further you are from the cap.
    Raiding the Vault gold reward is LIMITED to 4 times per week, afterwards, you don't get ANY gold at all.
    Purple BOSSES STOP giving rewards after 5 per day.
    Random MAP events STOP giving rewards after 5 per day.
    Zolten Kule Treasure Rooms are LIMITED to 5 per day.
    Hidden Lairs dungeons STOP giving gems rewards 5 per day.

    I who played the game and bought the battle pass... I regret it, completely. I have reached paragon 18 and the further I play the game, the more disgusted I get.

    Let's speak of the game itself. It's quite a good experience with bugs and mistakes here and there but doesn't offer anything new AT ALL... We came to the new place in the boat, again, went to the desert, again, to the jungle, again, the mountain, again, and then to hell... AGAIN, in the same F order. Its the same as Diablo 2 and 3 except you have a random demon to defeat and that ONLY 4 WORLD STONE SHARDS exist when the World Stone got shattered into tens of millions of pieces. So I cannot give a high score to this... Maybe a 6 and I'm being generous... Now if we go into the hidden caps/limitations... IM once again, entirely disgusted. How they dare to offer a game this... I lack words to describe this... If I count the hidden limitations, I give this a 4...

    Now onto the beyond disgusting and Prime Evil wordy of Greed. We have the money transactions... This game completely destroys ALL the values Blizzard stands for, as pointed out in their own F website. They don't care about the players at all and only want money, doesn't matter if beyond control people sell their own mother and sister to pay out the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to play this game. To me, it's too bad the score cannot go lower than 0.

    AS for those who say "It's free" you are a complete moron who has no idea what he is thinking or saying and has not realized how extremely dangerous that kind of thinking does to games as a whole.    … Expand

    While it catches Diablo feel and is fine at that, you hit a wall where it wants you to pay up. In the past 2 Weeks we learned alot about how the Cashmechanics DI forces on you can have negative impact on your life, thats just sad they monetized it to death.

    I got kicked in the groan by someone wearing steel toe'd industrial work boots. It was a more pleasant experience than playing Wyatt Cheng's Diablo Immoral. It's one thing to have a P2W mobile game with a mobile game exclusive company and / or EA. But Blizzard should be different. It isn't. They have been sharing the same morality as EA since Warcrud Refunded.

What was not fun was that after spending around $40 on the game I realized I was scammed because to get anything decent I’d have to spend 10-100x that or more. The game has such aggressive and deceptive marketing. The way it is monetized is disgusting, and I really hope that this sort of practice is prohibited in the USA, and the UK soon.     World governments need to take a very close attention to that ridiculous amounts of gambling and trickery mechanics in this game. This game should be banned for what it tries to do with children and gambling addict people.     Diablo Immortal is a simplified and more accessible version of the series that can still provide hours of mindless fun and entertainment. Sadly, the games suffers in the long run because of all the tedious grinding and the greedy monetization system, making a game experience that starts as very enjoyable much less so as time goes on.

    Diablo Immortal seems like a project created with the sole purpose of using the good name of Diablo to rub the players of their money. Definitely one of the worst games ever came out of Blizzard.
